Café Florian in Düsseldorf

I spent a sunny afternoon there. The crowd was nice, and there was plenty to see. The servers were very helpful. Overall, a relaxed place; I'd be happy to come back.

Very cute café/bar with a pleasant outdoor area, but unfortunately, the service is sometimes rude. I recently got a shot from a broken glass… which I didn't really like.

We only had a few drinks, but everything looked good.

We love going to Cafe Florian...and have done so for many years. All the waiters are great, especially Olaf, who is very polite and always funny and attentive. The manager is always nice, too.

The knuckle of pork was tough as leather, and the potatoes tasted bad. Terrible food here! The servers were super nice and polite.

I always enjoy coming back. The café has a special charm, the customers are all couleur, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. During the day, one of my favorite servers always has a funny saying and puts me in a good mood! The food is really good, and the portions are decent. All in all, highly recommended 🤗

Yesterday I was at Café Florian again, and as always, I felt like I was on vacation. The passing people, the witty, polite, and very attentive service, and the delicious food (whether breakfast or lunch) make a visit there a charming experience, especially after long nights on call. Thank you.

It's a shame I can't give it 25 stars. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. Firstly, in 2025, it's unthinkable to accept cash payments... Why on earth... perhaps it's an accounting trick? Secondly, we moved from outside to inside because of an annoying bee, not knowing that the waiter who served us would then become unbearable, rude, and with his fake grin. While we were eating, he constantly demanded that we pay the bill, with such insistent persistence that I got up, paid, and left without eating anything... Now I wonder why these pseudo-waiters, former bricklayers or plumbers, don't change jobs? Learn the meaning of hospitality before you take this job. I go out to eat and am willing to pay if I receive good, courteous, and polite service. If I want to get drunk, I stay home and light cigarettes with the money. Never again... Absolutely not recommended.

A very nice café with a cozy interior – both inside and outside. I've been here since I was in school. The staff is friendly and attentive. Nice menu and drinks – the food is highly recommended. The prices are also perfectly reasonable. We'll definitely stop by again the next time we're on Nordstrasse.

A cult cafe with polite waiters and a good bistro menu. It's like the Muggel in Oberkassel, only on the right bank of the Rhine. The salad was a 10/10, really top-notch. The steak and fries weren't quite as tasty as elsewhere, but they were okay.

It's nice to sit outside and have the best view of the hustle and bustle of Nordstrasse. The drinks and food selection is also okay. Unfortunately that was it. The (male) waiters are mostly friendly, but they like to celebrate with each other and with “friends”. Whatever the reason, it's definitely unprofessional. Personally, I think 9.20 EUR for an Aperol Spritz is significantly overpriced! In today's world, still insisting on cash payments, but at the same time working with a digital cash register system including handhelds is even more unprofessional and extremely customer-unfriendly. Of course, this is no longer up to date, especially since cash handling is now more expensive for restaurateurs than electronic payment transactions. So why then? A rogue...

If you like to eat in the middle of the city atmosphere, you are welcome to settle down here. The waitresses are very attentive...the food is delicious...

You can't relax here anymore. Either it's the employees who make a hell of a racket by pushing all the furniture around the store and/or their guests who entertain the whole street. Or the alarm system. If everyone would show some consideration, we could live together really well here again. But it's not possible because the owners don't care. As always, the noise comes from the café without regard to anything. An employee fights with a guest after midnight at night. Craziness. And promptly at 7:59 a.m. the patio furniture is pushed back and forth. Raising it might be a measure. Oh yes...the alarm system. And again the noise continues promptly at 8 a.m. on Sundays... Simply lift things instead of dragging them across the floor. It can't be that hard!!!!!! And finally the alarm system goes off again... As always...non-stop banging. Very ignorant management. Luckily there are laws. The employees also... Finally, at 8 a.m. on a public holiday, noise from moving furniture again... 5:45 a.m....nice that the grease separator is being cleaned. Finally noise again.....🙏 Loud music (1:25am)...great👍🏻 0:57 a.m. disco volume again. “Shut up” is what long-haired employees say to you. Good etiquette in the hospitality industry. Oh yes.Lifting things when you move them. It could be that simple. I think using the leaf blower at 1am is a joke.

Request to pay tips --------------------------------------------------------------------- We have been visiting Café Florian regularly for many years because we really appreciate the quality of the food and drinks, the attentive service and the beautiful ambience. During our visit a few days ago, we had a rather negative experience during the payment process. After presenting the bill, we didn't immediately tell the only German waiter the amount of the tip when paying and the question was asked, quote, 'How much would you like to get back?' We took this as a blatant request to round up the bill amount with a tip. We are happy to tip generously, but not when we are forced to pay. We found this to be outrageous and cheeky.

Our favorite cafe on the Nordstrasse since last 8 years. Very friendly stuff and great tasty food. Cosy art-deco interior. Can highly recommend it.

Café Florian is the perfect place for a hearty Düsseldorf breakfast. The selection is extensive and delicious, and an Altbier is a must! The cozy atmosphere completes the experience. Highly recommended for a successful start to the day!

Ein Cafe, welches man auch Bistro, Brasserie oder Restaurant nennen könnte. Von allem etwas, für jeden etwas, vom Frühstück über Snacks bis hin zum Mittagessen. Ob man Ruhe zum Zeitung lesen sucht oder sich angeregt unterhalten möchte, beides geht. Ob Bier oder Wein, Cafe oder Tee, es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Wenn diese Aufzählung auch etwas durcheinander wirkt passt alles prima zusammen. Alles wirkt ein wenig wie ein in die Jahre gekommenes Cafe der Belle Epoche, urig und gemütlich. Dazu noch die Möglichkeit draußen zu sitzen und auf der Terrasse das bunte Treiben zu genießen.

Today I went to Florians again, I had very good memories of it, it was years ago since my last visit. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the breakfast. I had avocado bread with fried eggs and salmon. Wasn't really fresh. The bread was “old”, the salmon wasn’t really fresh…. kept my stomach busy all day. My husband had the fitness breakfast. Strange chocolate muesli and Nutella, quark with 5 raspberries 😟 Overall, not a highlight. It's a shame, because the atmosphere is really friendly and the service is super friendly and attentive!

Popped in for a late, cold afternoon coffee with my daughter. I liked it. Nice ambience and friendly, attentive staff. The menu looked good. It is cash only, but lots of German businesses are.

Die Stimmung war sensationell gut, was vor allem an dem zuvorkommenden Service und dem ausgesprochen schönen und vorweihnachtlichen Ambiente lag. Vielen Dank an alle die dazu beigetragen haben, dass ich einen so schönen Abend genießen konnte!! Wir kommen bestimmt sehr bald wieder!

Small restaurant with a more manageable menu. The food was good average, as were the prices. Service was quick and attentive. The fact that you could only pay in cash was very negative! This is really from yesterday and very backwoods. The four of us had a bill of well over 100 euros and had to find the last bills together in order to be able to pay. In response to our complaint, we were referred to various ATMs in the area. Not customer friendly... I can't believe that this exists in the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. This fact alone is the reason for me not to recommend the restaurant. If I had known this beforehand, we wouldn't have made a reservation there! After eating we first had to look for a suitable ATM...

We came here spontaneously and wanted to eat. The table was occupied shortly before and was not cleaned after we sat down. We got our predecessors' hair and crumbs included! My husband's meal was ok, he had the Altbierfleisch. I had the vegetable lasagna and it was tasteless and lukewarm inside. I ate 1/4, I didn't enjoy it at all! When the waiter cleared our plates he looked at my husband and just asked: was it ok? No questions asked as to why my plate is still so full, nothing! Only card payment possible! The atmosphere is rustic and we liked it, but I don't have to visit the café again!

I am very disappointed. I paid a total of €24.80 instead of €18 for 5 mint teas that were marked €3.60 each on the menu. The waiter then explained to me that the honey was charged at €1.20 per tea. Plus, the honey isn't even mentioned on the menu. Really very disappointing and disgraceful. When I asked for the receipt, I was subsequently issued a receipt for €24, on which the honey was noted as €1.20 under “various dishes”. However, my actual bill was around €24.80, which makes the term “various dishes” very questionable. The waiter reacted very indifferently to the request.

Great, quaint, charming and cozy restaurant, bar, café, pub, and and and. Huge map, everyone can find something here. Everyone will also find something to drink here. The prices for the food are normal, the portions are OK and it's tasty too. The setup was successful. The service is very quick. Unfortunately the space is quite limited. Best to reserve. An institution in Pempelfort. Absolutely clear recommendation.

A nice shop in itself. However, our calculation was completely mixed up. It said food from another table and drinks from yet another table. So we had a 60€ bill for ultimately only 25€... Since you can only pay in cash and, if in doubt, you are sent to the next bank 2 streets away, it is a bit tricky and I wonder how much sales will ultimately be reported to Fikus or not. Unfortunately, it makes me feel very uncomfortable as a guest.

Es war einmal..ein Café Florian mit einem Senior Chef, der (fast)immer vor Ort war, der für die Gäste da war, der dem Personal half, wenn Not am Mann war...., der für jeden ein Lächeln hatte. Heute: kein Tisch, wenn man nicht essen möchte...! Vielleicht hätten wir Champagner getrunken? Ist das Florian jetzt ein Restaurant? Service: schwierig eine Bestellung aufzugeben, längere Wartezeit bis die Getränke kommen... als Krönung: Kartenzahlung??? Neinnnn.....Frage warum?? Nein nehmen wir nicht mehr...haben Sie kein Bargeld?? In der Nähe ist ein Geldautomat..Meine Konsequenz: Ich muss da nicht mehr hin.. Schade, es war mal so schön dort!

People like to go here because everything is right. Breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. And if you just want to have a drink, you always meet nice, down-to-earth people, which isn't exactly normal for Düsseldorf.

Das Essen war eine riesen Katastrophe, der Service hat zuviel abgerechnet, auf den Hinweis darauf, würden wir auch noch des Lokals verwiesen. Dazu kam auch noch der Sohn vom Chef, der uns mit Gewalt gedroht hat. Mein Fazit, es gibt keine Zahlung mit EC oder Kreditkarte und man wird auch noch bedroht. Ich werde das auch an Finanzamt weiter geben.

In the heart of the lively city of Dusseldorf I entered the grand doors of Café Florian Dusseldorf, a famous restaurant that combines Italian sophistication with uniquely German charm. As soon as I stepped in I felt as if I had gone back in time to the golden age of coffee drinking. The atmosphere inside the shop exudes luxury but also warmth. The golden walls were decorated with large mirrors that reflected the glimmering light from the intricate chandeliers. I chose a table on the street front to soak up the view of the bustling street below. A neatly dressed waiter greeted me with a warm smile and recommended a delicious lunch menu. I decided to order the minced steak. It's lunch. The taste is perfectly mellow. The mellow taste and soft texture made me enjoy every bite. To end a wonderful meal I ordered the homemade tiramisu. Moist coffee cake layered with soft mascarpone cream. Sprinkle with slightly bitter cocoa powder. The taste is sweet and slightly bitter. Blended together perfectly in every word. throughout the meal I received impeccable service from attentive and friendly staff. They kept refilling my water regularly and inquired about my satisfaction. As I sipped a strong espresso I was deeply impressed by my lunch experience at Café Florian Dusseldorf. The atmosphere was elegant. delicious food and impeccable service Make this meal truly a memorable one.

We were 15 people. Super unfriendly. Not even a smile. Not accommodating. The workers/waiters were overwhelmed and pissed off. You could just read it on their faces. with ALL. Something was always missing from the order. Super disappointed! Also because we weren't even from Düsseldorf. Unfortunately it was the first and last visit.

The bacon pancakes and the cheese spaetzle were very tasty and Café Florian is also very suitable for breakfast. For breakfast, I can highly recommend the “Café Florian Breakfast” because you have a great selection and it’s also great in terms of price.

Pfingstmontag-Morgen war auf der Nordstraße nicht viel geöffnet und das Café Florian sah recht ok aus. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich mit vielen Frühstücksvarianten. Mein Mann bestellte das Radschläger-Frühstück und ich lediglich zwei belegte Vollkorn-Brötchen-Hälften mit Salami und Käse. Jeder von uns orderte eine Kaffee-Variante. Der Brotkorb, das Müsli und die süßen Aufstriche kamen für meinen Mann sofort. Nach einiger Zeit auch die Kaffees. Zumindest konnte schon das Müsli gegessen werden. Nach fast 30 Minuten wies ich die Kellnerin daraufhin, dass bei meinem Mann noch der Aufschnitt fehlt und ich meine beiden Brötchenhälften noch gar nicht hatte. "Es ist noch nicht fertig vorbereitet!" Dann kamen endlich meine beiden Brötchenhälften auf einem Teller, der über und über mit fettigen Fingerabdrücken übersät war. Und nach weiteren 5 Minuten, bekam auch mein Mann endlich seinen Aufschnitt. Natürlich war in der Zwischenzeit der Kaffee lauwarm bis kalt und irgendwie war auch die Lust vergangen! Sorry, aber ich habe wirklich noch nie auf ein belegtes Brötchen so lange warten müssen und genauso nicht auf 5 Scheiben Aufschnitt. Die waremn Frühstücksvarianten schienen schneller zu gehen, also lag es wohl an uns.

Café Florian is a true institution in Düsseldorf Pempelfort. The menu is very extensive and the quality of the food is really good. We love going here, especially on weekends and public holidays for a (very) late breakfast. You may have to wait for a table if you don't have a reservation, but the waiting time is limited. (Reservations are still recommended!) The outdoor area, located directly on the street, also has its charm: right in the middle of the life of the busy Nordstrasse.

The service staff responds inappropriately to humorous questions from their guests using capricious language - very confusing. Apparently people here are overwhelmed with customer service work.

Good café for breakfast (I can highly recommend the farmer's breakfast), but also for having a beer in the evening. The decor is really well done and creates a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the prices here have risen sharply, which is why we rarely go here anymore.

We were here for breakfast yesterday, Sunday March 3rd, 2024. Shakshuka was very tasty, well done! Additionally ordered the Florian breakfast. It was too much for the two of us. So buttered up a roll to take away! The food overall was delicious! What was supposed to be warm was and what was cold was cold. The service was focused on us and our extras were taken into account. Unfortunately neither the tea nor the coffee were convincing. It's a shame, it could be much better! Even if it is a euro or two more expensive than somewhere else, we will come back.

Liebes Cafe Florian Team, Meine Frau und Ich bedanken uns Herzlich für diesen Tollen Abend. Wir sind letzte Woche spontan ins Florian gekommen und es war hervorragend. Wir wurden super nett Empfangen und direkt zu einem gemütlichen tisch gebracht. Zum Aperitif haben wir uns beide einen leckeren hausgemachten Glühwein gegönnt der unfassbar lecker war , zur unserer Gänsebrust haben wir einen leckeren Rioja getrunken der super gepasst hat , danke nochmal an den kellner für die Empfehlung. Nach dem wir gemütlich gegessen haben und alles super war haben wir uns dazu entschieden gehabt einen Espresso Martini Cocktail zu trinken den wir so noch nicht kannten und er war sowas von lecker das wir es unseren bekannten am nächsten Tag erzählen mussten. Wir bedanken uns Herzlich nochmal für diesen tollen abend und.wir kommen gerne wieder . Danke Cafe Florian und schöne Feiertage.

Rude and Impolite to customers. Mediocre food.

Ich ging für einen Moment rein, um nach einer Freundin zu suchen, die angeblich im Restaurant war. Der Kellner hat mich sehr kalt und unhöflich gefragt, was ich mache, und gesagt, dass sie voll sind. Ein zweiter Kellner hat mir auch schnell gesagt, dass es voll ist. Das ist keine gute Begrüßung für jemanden, der darüber nachdachte, im Restaurant etwas zu trinken. Ich habe nicht vor, jemals wiederzukommen, und ich plane, es allen Nachbarn in meiner Gegend zu erzählen. Außerdem antworten sie auf meinen Kommentar auf eine wirklich professionelle Art und Weise, haha, das gibt viel zu denken.

Gemütliche Atmosphäre, sehr guter und aufmerksamer Service, gutes Essen.

Mit Abstand der schlechteste und teuerste Glühwein den ich je hatte [vier Becherchen 20,- Euro] dazu nicht mal richtig heiß und Becher so groß wie aus Liliput. Der dazu bestellte Apfelkuchen aus der Tiefkühltruhe wurde wohl leider mit Zwiebeln und anderen Lebensmittel zusammen gelagert, dementsprechend ungenießbar, zum Glück sind morgen die Weihnachtsmärkte wieder geöffnet. Auch das Gesamtbild des Florians, alles etwas schmuddelig, hatte das mal anders in Erinnerung😒

Gemütliche Atmosphäre und nette Bedienung!

Ich war heute nach 2 Jahren mal wieder im Café Florian frühstücken, leider auch das letzte Mal! Man kann für 2 Personen nicht mehr reservieren, so dass wir an einem Hochtisch platznehmen mussten. Das Lokal war so hell erleuchtet, dass keine Gemütlichkeit mehr aufkam. Das neue Personal war nicht nur total überfordert, sondern auch ziemlich mürrisch, schade!

Cool environment and good attention

Mitten in Pempelfort. Urige Kneipe, mit aufmerksamen und freundlichen Bedienungen. Waren mit Freunden sonntags zum Frühstücken dort. Reservieren empfehlenswert. Neben traditionellen Frühstücken auch solche mit Bohnen oder Bratkartoffeln oder pikante Shakshuka mit pochierten Eiern. Ein Besuch ist empfehlenswert.

Went with 9 (dutch) friends to this café for some drinks. After about 45 min. a friend of us droped by accident a glass of bier from the table outside on the terras. The waiter was angry about it and suddenly whe couldn't orde no more drinks and got the bill (also from the broken glass) I think the waiter was grumpy that day and dont like Dutch peaple. There wasn't any dicussion possible anymore about the incident. Also you can't pay with card what is very common for us in the Netherlands. So be warned, don't break anything otherwise you will be not hospitable anymore.
