Buriram Restaurant in Köln

According to the menu, my main course, which was quite tasty, should have contained coconut milk, but unfortunately, there was no sign of it. When the last of four people at the table receives their pasta dish about ten minutes after the other three, who have almost finished eating, that's hardly good service. We also waited in vain for our drinks, and we had to ask for the bill twice before someone finally took care of it. A mixed experience, both in terms of service and food!

A true hidden gem! As a lover of Thai food, I first visited the restaurant's website and was already impressed by the pictures. But when I actually went there, I was even more pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is much more inviting and cozy than the website suggests. It's the perfect place to meet up with friends or family – ideal for groups, as it offers plenty of space. The food is truly fantastic! It not only tastes authentic but is also wonderfully fresh and lovingly prepared. Every dish I tried was a delight. The exceptionally friendly service also deserves special mention. The staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel completely at ease. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Thai food and a welcoming place for group gatherings. I'll definitely be back!

The food was delicious, just like eating in Thailand. It made me miss Thai food so much. The staff were very helpful and the food was served quite quickly. I was very impressed. If I ever come to Köln again, I will definitely stop by. ♥️

Somtam Poo Pla Ra is very delicious, fragrant with fermented fish, and spicy in an Isan style. The taste is made to order. Anyone who comes to Cologne must try this. Don't miss it!!! It will make you stop missing Thai food.

It's like being back in Thailand! Very polite service and a great atmosphere. The food is definitely authentic, and omg, they have mango sticky rice! It's definitely worth a visit for all Thailand fans and beyond. Obviously, Pad Thai isn't worth 80 baht, but that doesn't detract from the atmosphere!

Unfortunately, I didn't like the food at all; it was far too oily for me. Compared to other Thai restaurants, you can get many dishes for half the price. Overall, it's not a good value for money. But the service is absolutely top-notch!

Extremely bad air quality. Slow service. Average food. Perhaps we were unlucky, as it was extremely crowded. But the service was truly awful, and it remained so all evening. While the staff were friendly, they were incredibly slow and inattentive. This could have been overlooked if everything else had been satisfactory. However, our main courses arrived at least 15 minutes apart. But worst of all: the food was only average. The appetizers were okay. But the main courses… poorly (or not at all?) seasoned. Fresh herbs were completely absent. There was just a lot of it. I won't be giving this restaurant a second chance. What a shame.

We had an absolutely delicious meal here, and if we hadn't been passing through, we would have definitely eaten here several times. Highly recommended. The service was simply a case of putting the food down and that's it. Well, maybe it was just a bad day. And a light beer in a wheat beer glass isn't exactly a wheat beer :-), but there are worse things.

Someone recommended this restaurant to me when I visited Köln. The papaya salad was perfectly colored and the flavors were rich and authentically Isan. The pad thai was delicious, with large, bouncy shrimp. The fried chicken wings were crispy. I'd like to order more, but I don't think I'll be able to finish them all. Everything I ordered was delicious and satisfying. I'll definitely go back if I have the chance.

Seven of us ate there. We really enjoyed it and it tasted great. The service was good; the only (slight) criticism I have is that the main course wasn't served to all seven at the same time; there was a gap of about five minutes between each serving. The portions were very large; except for one person, no one finished their portion. However, five of us also made the "mistake" of ordering a soup starter (with glass noodles). This soup alone was quite filling, as it contained a lot. Regarding the main course: I find it interesting that you put together your own meal. You choose a base consisting of vegetables and sauce, then the meat you want (or vegetarian alternatives), and—if it's not already specified in the base course—whether you want it with rice or noodles. My sister and I had the same base course; she chose chicken, I chose duck. My dish looked different from hers, though, because mine had a lot of duck on top, significantly more than her chicken. However, my dish also cost €6 more because I chose duck. The duck was great; I particularly liked the crispy crust. Some of the dishes have a spice level. We weren't sure about that, as we know Thais like spicy food. My sister and I had a dish with a spice level of 1. I didn't think it was spicy at all until I realized that the spice in this dish was served separately, in powder form on the edge of the plate, which you can then sprinkle over the food :-). Once I did that, it did become slightly spicy :-). My husband had a dish with a spice level of 3, but instead of the powder on the plate, it was in the food itself. My husband didn't find his food particularly spicy. However, we grow our own pepperoni plants with a heat level of 7-10, and my husband eats 7-8 on its own when grilling, while the rest is dried and processed into a spice. So, my husband's opinion isn't necessarily the benchmark. Some of us chose cocktails. Some of them were very large/plenty (and, of course, very tasty). My husband and I rarely go out to eat and therefore have little to compare. There are several reasons why we don't eat out much. One of them is that we often find it too expensive. But here, we got the value for money. We had the leftovers packed up—I admit—and ate them for lunch the next day. We recommend the restaurant! It's a shame it's in Cologne and we're not from Cologne. If I lived there, I'd go there more often; then I could eat the leftovers the next day and wouldn't have to cook as much myself :-)

The BEST thai food I had outside of thailand (and I lived there for 7 years!). I came here because I saw photos of Larb (a typical northern Thai dish from isaan) which looked like the real thing. And it totally was the real thing! It is actually very seldom that one can find good and authentic Northern thai food in Europe and this was the best! I had Larb Mou (Larb with pork), som tam (green papaya salad) and sticky rice. The som tam even beat several I had in thailand. The ingredients were all there, the preparation and juiciness was perfect. A try dip in the past for me! My husband had Masaman Curry (which is not North thai dish) and that was amazing also! We truly find our dream thai restaurant outside of Thailand! Too bad we live in Italy, but we will make sure to visit every time we come back to Cologne! 😍😍😍😍

This is the best Thai restaurant I have been to since leaving Thailand years ago. Ias well as the usual Thai dishes it has all the most wonderful Isaan dishes (from north of Thailand) like Larb and Somtam, as well as a yummy chicken Massaman from the south. Lovely service and pleasant atmosphere. Made our stay!

We ate here twice during our visit to Cologne and were thrilled (even my wife, who is Thai), who was impressed. The food was some of the best Thai food we've ever had outside of Thailand. They even prepared a special meal for us that wasn't on the menu. You can tell that the chef here cares about providing authentic Thai food and does it very well and with joy. The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant is stylishly decorated. The prices are also extremely fair for what you get. Fresh, high-quality ingredients.

I moved to this neighborhood a while ago and went to Buriram Thai for the first time on Friday. Whether I'll be back is rather unclear. The service was either disinterested or forgot our order altogether. The food was okay. I have to say, the menu is really extensive and sounds promising, which unfortunately the food didn't live up to. While the appetizer (fish cakes) was perfectly fine, the main course (seafood in gravy) was completely insignificant, barely seasoned, and the broth thin. Unfortunately, there was no sign of fresh and authentic cuisine in this case. My companion had been there before and said they were much more impressed by the service and cuisine last time. At least this time, the quality of the food clearly didn't match the price (approx. €45 per person). At Cologne's many Thai snack bars, you get significantly more than what we were offered that evening, at a much lower price.

Great Thai place to visit in Köln! Got the egg fried noodles and spring rolls. Large portions so stick to one small appetizer. Great fun drinks to try as well!

A piece of Thailand in Germany! All the dishes are exactly as they would be in Thailand. Both the ingredients and the preparation are truly authentic and original. There are many great dishes here that you won't find anywhere else. The owner even cooked a dish that wasn't on the menu (seafood in coconut) – absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are generous, and the value for money is excellent. It's even worth the slightly longer journey, as was the case for us.

Absolutely delicious! The food here tastes just like home—authentic Thai flavors that brought me right back to Thailand. Every dish was spot on. Highly recommend the crispy pork with Chinese kale (คะน้าหมูกรอบ), spicy glass noodle salad with seafood (ยำวุ้นเส้นทะเล), and the hot & sour pork rib soup (ต้มแซ่บกระดูกหมู)—so flavorful and satisfying. The grilled pork was also juicy and well-marinated. But the absolute highlight for me was the som tum with fermented crab and fish sauce. It was incredibly rich, bold, and perfectly balanced—the best version I’ve ever had outside of Thailand. It’s exactly how real ส้มตำปูปลาร้า should taste. If you love true Thai flavors, don’t miss it! I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

The food was of high quality – freshly prepared, delicious, and authentic. The dishes (as well as those at neighboring tables) were served promptly and impressed with their originality. The traditional table with its lowered footwell, which significantly increases seating comfort, deserves special mention. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I was recently in Thailand and loved the food there. Back in Germany, I didn't think I'd find a restaurant that tasted even remotely as good. But I did, and I'm incredibly happy. The patkrapao, papaya salad, and mango sticky rice taste authentic, just like in Thailand. Everything is super fresh and perfectly seasoned. The service is also top-notch—super friendly and attentive. All in all, simply amazing. I highly recommend it.

The best in the traditional and original food feeling as sitting in Thailand, all materials comes from the tropical areas. It's not too far from the main train station (Kolsch).

We just ate here and were absolutely thrilled. Both dishes were extremely delicious and, as we requested, nice and spicy. We had a chicken dish and a red curry with tofu and will definitely be back!

We were in Thailand a few weeks ago and really wanted to relive that feeling. It worked 100 percent! We were able to sit on the traditional cushions (with our shoes off :)) and ate some amazing food. The papaya salad and the Pad Thai were our highlights. I'd also like to mention the wonderful staff! We were looked after so wonderfully, and even the cook came by our table! We'll be back :)

The food, especially the Buriram starter, the house lemonade, and the curry dish, were very tasty. The seating in the restaurant was also good, cozy and not overly opulent. The manager (?) had everything well under control, was very attentive and courteous, and constantly checked on the guests. There were eight of us, and we were served at the same time. The other people's food was also delicious. It's a good Thai restaurant, and don't be fooled by the crazy reactions that it tastes like a snack.

I am thai, and i can tell this is one of the best thai restaurants in Germany. We ordered Pla Lui Suan which is more delicious than in Thailand (you can see the picture) And Nam Lam Yai (Longan juice) was so good, not too sweet like in Thailand. ***Make sure you do the reservation before you come.

One of the most authentic Thai restaurants I have ever eaten at. I can especially highly recommend the fried rice with chicken. To wash down the delicious course, I recommend the homemade Thai iced tea. Always worth a visit and highly recommended, if not a must.

After we were totally thrilled on our first visit and gave it 5 stars, I now have to correct something and deduct 4 stars for the food. The fried chicken was totally greasy. You felt disgusted when you bit on it. I also deducted 1 star from the service because the food didn't come to everyone at the same time. It was eaten almost one after the other.

We completed a bachelorette party in Cologne here, and the meal in Buriram was the highlight of the whole day. The food was excellent - even those who don't normally know much about Asian cuisine enjoyed it - and the service and atmosphere were great too. It's been a long time since I had such good Thai food. I found it particularly nice that there is a traditional table on which you can let your legs hang down, which makes sitting much more comfortable. A great experience and absolutely recommended!
