Leckere Muscheln zur Vorspeise und leckere Muscheln zur Nachspeise… Der Service war sehr nett und wir hatten einen gemütlichen Abend auf der Terrasse…

We popped in for an early lunch. Their lunch menu is not posted, so I think it must change daily. I ordered the baked potato and salad, and it was most unusual. I don't like a bunch of sour cream...but it had chives and something else in it. I ate every bite. Mu husband ordered salmon, I think.

Ich war gerade zum Nachtessen hier und bin echt mehr als nur ein bisschen angetan vom Essen und vom Service! Die Makrele welche ich zur Vorspeise hatte war extrem Lecker, weshalb ich vermute hatte, dass Matjes als Hauptgang nur knapp wũrde mithalten können, aber auch die waren extrem Lecker. Die Portionengrösse ist perfekt (für mich fast etwas zu viel) der Preis mega (für mich als Schweizerin schon überraschend preiswert). Der Service war nicht nur sehr freundlich, sondern so vorausschauend aufmerksam, dass wir vor den ersten Regentropfen und die Tische drinnen alle besetzt waren, einen Umzug ins Restaurant bekamen. Herzlichen Dank, Euch empfehle ich sehr gerne weiter!

I recently had dinner at Buddels. I started off with an asparagus salad which was fresh and delicious. For the main course, I ordered a halibut with clams and carrot purée which was flavorful. The prices are on the higher end but portions are generous. Service was friendly and attentive. This is a great place to enjoy a meal.

Very good wine selection and fantastic service. The food is relatively expensive and not a lot. Great for drinking wine and having a little something to eat, it's okay for dinner.

Delicious food, great service. However, the selection on the menu is really very limited. Without a starter or dessert, we made a good and also the cheapest choice at Buddels with the rocket tarte flambée (€17). All other dishes start at €20 and up. Otherwise, the Buddels lives up to its name as a wine bar with its extensive drinks and wine list.

We visited “Buddels” for the first time today and were totally thrilled. Everything is right, the wine selection is simply great, the food is so delicious and the service is simply perfect! Beautifully furnished inn with a small menu and large selection of wines. However, in a wine bar I would also like and expect more off-dry and a few sweet wines. The service staff (otherwise very attentive and friendly) should also know more about the wines and be able to give advice. The dishes can't quite keep what their prices promise. The braised beef cheek was a large piece, but quite firm and heavily streaked with fat. The sparse side dishes were nicely presented but were served almost cold. The salmon was good, but you can get it just as good elsewhere but cheaper. Still definitely worth a visit.

Huge selection of good wines - very friendly staff - rustic atmosphere

Friendly service, good food and drinks, although you need a main course and dessert/starter to fill you up. A star deduction for the vanilla ice cream on the Kaiserschmarrn, the duck was juicy and cross.

The location is very nice. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio of the menu is not right. Very expensive and the quality does not match the price. It's a shame because the staff is very nice and polite. Maybe the dishes should be reconsidered.

Travelling Hamburg we had the chance to "compare" two restaurants nearly next door - this is about the "Buddels". In a few words: hanseatic hospitality (not too many emotions visible), balance between price and quality a little bit towards the prices (but not overprized!), unique atmosphere in this historic 2 floors building. food with focus on local ingredients - interesting combinations, for our impression a few squiggles. Both fish dishes came not hot, but were immediately retaken and reheated. The explanation was that this fish is usually served not too hot ... well ... we just like it that the food remains at some temperature until we have finished. Nevertheless - as we wrote above - we were able to have two experiences: We think both are definetly worth a visit!

Take bus number 6 to Hafencity to the final stop Auf dem Sande and over to Deichstrasse to the cozy inn & wine bar BUDDELS for wine and cheese or tartare etc. A lot of delicious things are possible. A cozy evening with a delicious goose dinner together with red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, dumplings, boiled potatoes, sauce and the Hamburger HELBING - caraway wasn't missed either (see picture). As usual, the service team was extremely friendly and attentive, an all-round successful evening. Another very nice evening at BUDDELS with, as usual, delicious food and an extremely friendly and attentive service team. It was again delicious, cozy and overall a pleasant stay in the Buddels restaurant - Deichstraße 37. A delicious, changing lunch menu every week. In the evening there is also a very good, recommended offer, as well as the beautiful rooms in the listed building on the 1st and 2nd floors, which are used for groups, meetings and weddings, among other things. The beautiful, flexibly furnished restaurant is also reserved for private parties. A nice evening with good wine, delicious bread, a small selection of local cheese, fig mustard, nuts and a selection of Holstein sausages with bread and butter (see pictures). It was another great lunch break BUDDELS, not just a very good offer Lunch and dinner are also of the same quality and the way it is prepared is always a surprise. Today it was a delicious currywurst with special fries. The staff are always very friendly and attentive, so it goes without saying that we will come back. Maybe with the autumn offer cheese fondue for 2 people. or goose dinner for 4 people. Now was the time to eat goose, it was a unique treat thanks to the goose breeding in “Papa Herbert’s” family. The crust was very tasty, the kitchen team did a great job, thank you very much.

We were there for the first time with the Christmas party as an occasion. We were warmly welcomed and the staff were attentive and informative with drinks. The pre-ordered meal (starter, main course, dessert) went smoothly. My personal choice was dishes that I either didn't cook myself or didn't know about in the combination. Kale salad (with pear/beetroot/hazelnut) Sea trout (FlowerSprouts/mashed potatoes/licorice) Chocolate slices (vanilla/fruit) The dessert was more of a Christmas gingerbread slice (quite dry) with vanilla ice cream and berry topping. The starter and main course were super tasty and really great combinations! The service, apart from one who looked a bit grim (probably not her day), was all really attentive and patient! The team gave us a great, delicious and fun evening - thank you very much, keep it up!

Wir gehen seit Jahren sehr gerne ins Buddels. Leider bin ich nicht so oft in Hamburg und somit sind es wenige Besuche pro Jahr. Die Qualität und der Geschmack der verwendeten Produkte sowie die Kreativität des Kochs bei der Anrichtung und die Wein-Empfehlung zum ausgewählten Gericht sind bei jedem Besuch hervorragend. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch.

Die Weinkarte ist darüber hinaus hervorragend fein selektiert. Regionale Gastronomie-Kultur, die inspirierend ist … an einer historischen Adresse Hamburgs. Ein ganz großes Merci!

Ich war jetzt ein paar Mal im Buddels. Ambiente, Service und Weinkarte sind top und auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Allerdings war das Manko bei jedem Besuch immer das Essen. Und das schlägt leider stark auf die Gesamtwertung. Es ist preislich höher angesetzt, was erstmal ok ist, wenn der Rest stimmen würde. Die Portionsgröße kann sich noch nicht entscheiden ob es jetzt haute cuisine ist oder nicht. Die Zusammenstellung der Speisen ist es allerdings nicht, ebenso ist der Geschmack manchmal etwas underwhelming. Alles in Relation zum Preis natürlich. Wenn hier nochmal an dem Speisenkonzept gedreht wird, würde ich auch wiederkommen, aber so war das erstmal der letzte Besuch für mich.

Beeindruckendes altes Haus das toll gerichtet ist und unter Denkmalschutz steht. Service war sehr gut. Das Essen hat mich eher enttäuscht.

Wunderbares Abendessen mit Freunden! Tolles, gemütliches Ambiente, sehr freundliches und gut geschultes Personal, tolle Weine inkl. fachmännischer Beratung, wundervolles Essen (Fleisch wie vegan) 😍 Von der Ente, über Grünkohl Salat, bis hin zur Gemüse Pasta war alles ein Gedicht! Die Käse Platte am Ende war nicht so überzeugend, hat dem Abend aber keinen Abbruch getan. Absolute Empfehlung!

War okay. Wir waren zum Mittagstisch dort und hatten vorher eine Auswahl des Essens abgegeben. Es war nicht voll und wurde schnell bedient. Ich hatte eine "Gemüsebowl". Was cool war, war das saisonale Gemüse Steckrübe, ungeschälte Karotten und Kartoffeln (finde ich super!). Joa, es war halt eine kleine Portion gekochtes Gemüse mit etwas Gewürz, vielen Sprossen und Kürbis-bzw. Sonnenblumenkernen. Nichts herausragendes, okay zu essen. Das Ambiente fand ich toll. Ein altes hamburger Herrenhaus mit allerlei Struck, Holz und herrlich schiefen Wänden - ein Hamburger Original. Sehr hübsch. Der Service wirkte etwas gestresst, obwohl der Laden gegen 12:30 recht leer war, war dennoch freundlich und bemüht.

Була приємно вражена атмосферою та їжею. Це чудове місце для вечері з друзями, колегами або побачення. Навіть якщо ви самі відвідуєте ресторан страви такий чудовий, що ви гарно проведете час :) єдиний мінус - десертна карта. Десерти гарні але смаком не вражають.

Un piccolo locale arredato molto bene che si affaccia splendidamente su uno dei canali di Amburgo. Cucina molto buona, nonostante a pranzo abbiano solo piatti semplici. Ottimo il salmone su rosti di patate. Servizio molto cortese.

Historische Haus mit Tradition, stylisches Ambiente und super sympathisches Team. Sehr gute Weine, teilweise offen zu haben. Das Muschelmenü und der Tartar waren fantastisch. Reservierung ist empfehlenswert

Wir haben hier 5 Tage lang zum Mittag gegessen und das Essen war grundsätzlich sehr lecker. Fein abgeschmeckt und von guter Qualität. Die Portionen haben genau die richtige größe und das Essen ist super zubereitet (Fisch auf den Punkt gegart, Steak schön rosa, Suppen selbstgemacht). Als störend haben wir empfunden, dass auf jedem einzelnen Gericht Kresse war die sehr stark geschmeckt hat. Ein weiterer mjsnupunkt ist, dass der Spinat auf meinem Teller nicht gewaschen war oä. Es war eine Menge „Sand“ der auf den Zähnen geknirscht hat drin. Zum Laden: sehr schön eingerichtet an einem schönen Ort in der Nähe der Speicherstadt. Sehr freundliches Personal.

I ordered the Buddels Edelstuck. Cost 43€. I was hoping for a good, soft and tender steak. We ordered a bottle of wine for two persons. After 90 minutes waiting, we had finished the wine. The steak arrived. Too late, was burnt, dry and cold. Disappointing.

During our Hamburg weekend stay, we saved the best for last by booking the Buddel´s to celebrate a birthday, hoping the restaurant will give us the chance to "wow" us. ............ In short it didn´t !!! Arriving at 6:30pm we decided to stay outside, drink Cremant and enjoy the late afternoon. At around 7.30pm we decided to go inside the restaurant that is nicely furnished, the menus were promptly delivered and in 15 min, we ordered the main dishes. Nevertheless, we waited well over 90 min for our food. The wine was very good, but the food is just pretentious and nothing special. The BUDDELS Edelstück 43 € Beef At the beginning I thought they were playing a prank on the birthday boy, because this Buddels Noble Piece was nothing more than a piece of poor quality meat, max 1,5cm high, completely burnt on the outside, totally raw on the inside and cold ..... a DISASTER!!! Dessert, I had Peach Melba, with some white liquid, not a sauce, not foam, to sweet and the vanilla flavour must have been forgotten in the kitchen. I would expect a better quality from a restaurant in this category and price range! No fault to the service staff, he was trying his best - but somehow the kitchen was not in sync or up to standard. Anyway, I could have wroten this post during the dinner, I had so much time to write... I do Not recommend this place and I am sure that in Hamburg there are many other restaurants better than this one.

Jeg bestilte et bord hos Buddels nogle dage før vores ankomst til Hamborg, på baggrund af de gode anmeldelser på Tripadviser. Da vi ankom til stedet lå restauranten i det, jeg vil kalde et turistfælde distrikt. Der var ingen grund til, at jeg havde bestilt et bord i forvejen, for der var masser af ledige pladser. Betjeningen var høflig, men det var tvivlsom om de vidste noget om deres gode vine fra menukortet. Maden var ok. Dette var en engangsoplevelse for vores vedkommende.

Zum Abschluss unserer Sommerferien wurden wir mit einem exzellenten Abendessen belohnt. Die Vorspeisen sowie die Hauptgänge waren absolut top. Der Wein auch sehr gut. Das Personal überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Im ältestesten Teil Hamburgs (Deichstrasse) ist ein Besuch im „Biddels“ sehr empfehlenswert. Bedienung sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend mit dem Hamburgischenscharm. Kleine aber feine übersichtliche Speisekarte, lecker , freundlich, gemütlich.

Smuk restaurant og smukke serveringer på træbrædder. Vegetarisk tarte flambee var noget smagsløs, tartar var smuk og smagsmæssigt udmærket. Dejlige vine.

Kleine, feine Speisekarte mit ausgesuchten Produkten. Keine Massenware, selbstgekocht und super lecker (in die Jus hätte ich mich reinlegen können). Sehr große Auswahl an Weinen. Extrem guter und netter Service. Und das alles in einem wunderschönen altem Gebäude/Ambiente. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder.

Sehr nette Location. Wir wurden freundlich bedient und hatten erstmal Fingerfood wie Lachs Häppchen und Flammkuchen. Beides war sehr gut. Im Hauptgang gab es Rinderrücken. Für meinen Geschmack hätte es etwas mehr gewürzt sein können. Es war alles sehr geschmackvoll angerichtet. Verschiedene Weiß- und Rotweine wurden serviert, wobei mir die roten besser schmeckten. Aber das ist ja Geschmacksache. Bier gab es aus der Flasche von der kleinen Hamburger Urquell, was mir sehr gut schmeckte.

Immer wieder ausgezeichnet! Ein sehr freundlicher Empfang in diesem traditionellen „Alt Hamburger Bürgerhaus“. Sehr aufmerksames Personal, vorzügliches Essen, das war insgesamt ein gelungener Abend. Vielen Dank wir kommen wieder

Can only recomend Buddels. The food and service is exceptionel. The restaurent is inspiring and authentic. The German wine could be better.

Buddels is situated between Hamburg city centre and the harbour area in a small street populated with several restaurant. To most it is hence a distance from the more tourist areas in the inner city of Hamburg. Buddels is not a traditional German restaurant but more contemporary both in menu and surroundings. High raised ceiling and furniture made out of high-quality pallets makes this a more fresh. This also influences the dishes that are a combination of lasagne, tartar combined with kohlrabi and rinderfilet with truffels. The menu is a few dishes and some you have to order in advance as they are special prepared or slow cooked. The service is ok but not spectacular and it actually took some time before we felt at home and welcome, but improvements was made. The wine card is a special story. Compared with the limited choices of dishes, the win list is impressive, and all regions are present. If you want to taste German wine this is the place. You can feel the focus an passion and probably why so many locals seems to have found their way the night we visited.

Really nice selection of open sparklers, fairly priced wine menue, suffers a bit the fate of all not-very-old-wine bars that the selection is very much on the young side. If you can live w/ that: This is your place to go when in HH.

This street is packed with lively restaurants ranging from hipster breakfast places, to touristy schnitzel and herring options. However, Buddels really stands apart from the rest, with a kitchen that produces magic, and a wine list that comes with sufficient description to elect and experiment nicely. Starters, mains and desserts all knocked it out of the park. And even an option for the gluten free. I can highly recommend dinner here. The Beef Wellington, the (gluten free) octopus, the (gluten free) banana split. And while the interior is charming, sitting outside also has great ambiance and even a view to the Elbphilharmonie. Well done BUDDELS !

The best place to eat traditional Matjes with unbelievable side Wedgies, lick your fingers dips and also super burgers for the non fisch lovers. The wine and beer are awesome and the staff really friendly. Highly recommend!

We stopped by late afternoon on a rainy day. The two young gents working were outstanding in their wine knowledge, attitude, friendliness and helpfulness. We sampled several food items from the menu which were tasty and perfect compliments to our wine. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very comfortable and relaxed and the view over the water was quite nice. We would definitely return.
