Great location with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. The young team is very friendly. Rarely have I had such a delicious Kaiserschmarrn.

4.60 euros – that’s the program here. Elderberry spritzer, cappuccino or any other drink – 4.60 euros! The beautiful Brunnsteinhütte has had a new tenant since 2024, and therefore new prices. Unfortunately, keeping hut hikes affordable for everyone is no longer part of the program here. If a simple drink like an elderberry spritzer or ski water - i.e. syrup and tap water - costs 4.60, it's better to bring your own drinks here (of course, please don't drink them in the hut!). Thanks to the material cable car and the nearby Mittenwald, delivery conditions are not particularly difficult. Yes, maintaining a cabin costs money, even after a year of higher inflation. But pricing should also be done with a sense of proportion, and unfortunately that didn't happen here. The snack board - at 18 euros, not an option for those on a tight budget - is just about acceptable if you share: 4 slices of bread + the toppings on offer are enough for two slightly hungry hikers, but if breakfast was more than two hours ago, it's a rush the cake (was quite tasty for a hut) – of course for 4.60 euros… Dear hut team, please reconsider your pricing, then everyone will benefit from it! The huts are there for everyone - that's the DAV concept, it's in every Panorama magazine!

After the hike to the Brunnsteinhütte, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view. A wonderful cold beer and a snack up there invites you to linger. Before you climb back down again, well fortified.

Quite expensive in comparison, although there is apparently a lift available. I also found the staff extremely unfriendly.

I camped here during the Mittenwalder Höhenweg via ferrata descent for food and for me the food and prices at 5*!

We stopped here on the descent from the Mittenwalder Höhenweg and I have rarely seen such haphazard staff. I had to repeat what I wanted four or five times, which was pretty manageable with two coffees and two cold drinks. After the lady had finally written the prices down on a piece of paper, she then had to add them up using the calculator. By then she had already forgotten about my food and the cake. 17 euros for ham noodles is more than salty - yes, I know, it's a hut but that can't be used as an excuse for everything... things are different in other huts and the prices there are also more moderate. Fine for a short refreshment stop.

The hut is located in a very scenic location. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. We weren't treated particularly friendly and our questions were answered grumpily if at all. The sleeping accommodations are standard like other cabins.

The service was very listless and a little grumpy. Food portions were slightly off😪 Overall, the staff ruined the tour... a real shame🤔😡

Very nice hut with a great view. Food and menu selection top. The team is always friendly and in a good mood. One of the few remaining authentic mountain huts, hopefully it stays that way. We always enjoy going there 👍

I visited the hut during my descent from the Mittenwalder Höhenweg-Via ferrata. The Mittenwalder draft beer and the Kaiserschmarrn were great. You can definitely visit for a stop after the descent, which is tough.

We spent 2 very great days at the hut, with very fine food, a great hut team and beautiful camps. The sunset is also impressive when the weather is nice.

We were here as a stopover on the way up to the via ferrata. The location is indescribably beautiful, the hut owner and staff were very nice and accommodating, the food was excellent and we slept well in a mattress camp. There's really nothing to complain about and we'd be happy to come back again. :)

Great location, easy climb and can be reached quickly even after work and offers a great view. You feel like climbing the Brunnsteinspitze. Although we arrived at the hut a little hungry, it went away before we reached the hut because it simply smelled of feces. The wind was blowing from the direction of the toilet behind the house or behind the material cable car. There may be problems with the toilet, septic tank or similar. I'm not an expert. I observed other guests eating Kaiserschmarren and other dishes. Everything looked very good. The service was also "okay" for the time of day - the team was already pretty worn out around 7 p.m., which was no secret. Wonderful location, nice young team, great terrace - but honestly, I couldn't have eaten a bite with the smell that I know from the classic toilet. My companion felt the same way. Please fix this, it's a shame.

Very nice hut with very, very friendly staff. The food (Kaiserschmarrn, ham noodles and Leberkäse with potato salad and fried egg) was also very tasty. We felt very comfortable there. The view is beautiful. In case I haven't mentioned it yet, the staff is super friendly. :) Keep it up.

Very idyllic mountain hut with great hiking opportunities in the area. Unfortunately, there was a strong smell of sewage on the terrace when we visited, which we were told was probably because the organic toilet was being cleaned. This fact was quickly forgotten after the delicious meal. The Kaiserschmarren was very tasty. Here you know what's good and the staff was sweet and accommodating. Unfortunately, some guests are really rude and smoke one cigarette after another on the terrace and simply leave their butts on the floor. This is completely rude to the staff. I ended up picking them up and taking them down to the valley. I would like a ban on smoking on the terrace. I think it's nice how family-friendly the cabin is. Nevertheless, as a person who loves children, I found it a bit too busy with young families who didn't always have their funny little rascals under control. The sandpit right in front of the checkout looks like a social experiment. I take my hat off to the hut staff for how they can remain so friendly with parents who are sometimes so inept and don't teach their children manners. Overall, the Brunnsteinhütte remains one of my favorite huts. I've been here countless times and it hasn't lost any of its charm. Hopefully it stays that way. Bergheil

A beautiful mountain hiking trail and the way back over the suspension bridge and the ladder path - plus the perfect hut with a really nice view while eating. If you have something to complain about with the staff, it would be better to stay downstairs, because everything here is as it should be in a mountain hut - the food was very tasty and just right after the climb and the staff were much nicer and more accommodating than comparatively to other huts in the area. There is absolutely nothing to complain about there. Great and keep it up!

Please don't rely on the USP. If there is no Kaiserschmarrn in a mountain hut because the kitchen can't keep up, then something is wrong and you leave disappointed. 🤨

Cute little hut half the way up to Rotwandlspitze/Brunnsteinspitze. Free drinking water, nice service, good catering.

Great view, good food and friendly atmosphere - well worth a morning hike

We stayed here as a family for an overnight stay at the weekend. The hut is quite small and very cozy, the view over the valley is beautiful. The rooms are all warehouses and therefore quite basic, but okay. Strangely enough, the service was quite dismissive or sometimes even annoyed when you asked for something, which limited the whole experience a little. Otherwise well suited for families.

We went there for lunch. Everything is very tasty and the view is indescribably beautiful :)

Relatively easy walk from Mittenwald. Approximately 7 km, it is worth it, the views are incredible, on the way you pass over a suspension bridge.

June 14, 2024 The hut is under new management, so the people will probably still have to get used to it. Coffee was thin and cold...machine was off, unfortunately no new coffee came. Salad, well, for the price, corn always works. The girls were hard-working and friendly, with a little practice it will definitely be really good.

The cottage is very pretty. Unfortunately, there was no good food or friendliness from the landlady, at least today. Sorry for the inconvenience 💁🏻‍♂️

After the hike with our little dog, we wanted to refresh and cool down on the Isar. As many other hikers or guests did on such a hot day. Then the hut owner came to us angrily and with aggressive and unfriendly words (still harmlessly expressed) and told us to get out of here immediately. This is not a swimming beach. As already mentioned after several statements from parking guests, the aggressive hut landlord is already known to be extremely unfriendly and provocative. This extremely evil person had better get anger management therapy before something worse happens. This is how you lose guests 100% of the time.

Nice view, small Playground for children, animals around the hut. Unfortunately, the mountaineering meal has been canceled for Alpine club members. But nope. Every year a new host comes, maybe there will be one again.

We just left the hut in shock without having eaten anything because the landlord is just aggressive and rude. Our day of hiking was simply completely ruined. Unfortunately, it's been mentioned again and again in recent comments. All we did was order a Kaiserschmarren and ask if it would be possible to fry it until dark. He then freaked out aggressively. We were then insulted as Munich residents?! Apparently the landlord's lease is expiring in the next few days, which is certainly the best decision from the DAV.

Tolles Wanderziel für Familien. Der Weg geht durch den schattenspendenden Wald und ist auch für kleinere Kinder gut begehbar.

Der Aufstieg ist nicht ohne aber es lohnt sich 😍

Der Wirt ist sehr unfreundlich. Ich weiß nicht ob er immer so ist oder gerade heute einen schlechten Tag hat. Aber trotzdem, in der Gastronomie darf sowas nicht passieren

Der Mittenwalder Höhenweg macht echt Spaß. Dann zur Erfrischung hier einkehren...

Nach dem kräftezehrenden Abstieg von der Brunnsteinspitze durften wir hier zu einem wunderbar mundenden Stück Kirsch-Schmand-Kuchen und einer heißen Tasse Cappuccino einkehren, die uns den weiteren Abstieg nach Scharnitz stark erleichtert haben. Sehr urige Hütte in ausgezeichneter Lage mit sympathischen Inhabern - hier fühlt man sich gut aufgehoben! PS: Etwas weiter unten sind wir sogar noch auf Ein- und Zweihorn sowie den Hüttenesel gestoßen und wurden ein kleines Stück von ihnen begleitet - es war uns eine Ehre und ein Fest zur selben Zeit <3

Bedienung SUPER, ESSEN ebenfalls. Alles andere auch TOP. DANKE an das tolle Team. Daaaanke das es noch solch Leute gibt, welche ein solches Unternehmen führen. 👍🤗👌

Warum gibt es nur 5 Sterne? Seit Jahren komme ich regelmäßig auf die urige Brunnsteinhütte und – ich liebe sie. Das liegt nicht nur an der tollen Lage, sondern sehr auch an den Betreibern, die sichtlich mit Herz und Seele tolle Gastgeber sind und obendrein furchtbar leckeres Essen zaubern.

Sehr schöner Ausblick auf die Berge, gute Preise nur der Aufstieg ist für Anfänger wie mich schwitzend 😂

Wir haben hier eine Übernachtung eingebaut, bevor wir den nächsten Tag zur Brunnsteinspitze hoch sind und dann den Mittenwalder Klettersteig gemacht haben. Obwohl wir leider etwas spät dort waren, haben wir unglaublich leckeres Abendessen bekommen, auch das Frühstück war für Hüttenverhältnisse wirklich toll! Einziges Manko ist für mich, dass die Toilette von der Hütte separiert ist, was jedoch den Gesamteindruck nicht trübt.

Wie waren mit zwei Kindern (3 und 1) dort und haben übernachtet, das Familienzimmer im oberen Stock war super für uns, Essen war lecker, wir fandens sehr schön!

Nach dem Mittenwalder Klettersteig eingekehrt, Selbstbedienung beim Bestellen, Käsestreuselkuchen mega!!, Hüttenteam freundlich, Lage top. Ihr habt mich nicht verdursten lassen;)

Zimmer: für eine Berghütte sind die Schlafmöglichkeiten top. Service: schnell und sehr freundlich. Zu empfehlen ist der hausgemachte Schoko-Nusskuchen. Standort: für Bergfreunde ist die Brunnsteinhütte gemütlich in einer Stunde zu erreichen. Wenn das Wetter mitspielt erwartet einen ein herrlicher Ausblick in Richtung Wettersteingebirge und ein wunderschöner Sonnenuntergang in den Abendstunden. Ich komme immer wieder gerne hier hin. 👍

Ein Besuch lohnt sich immer, egal ob beim Aufstieg oder Abstieg. Die Hütte ist gut gelegen mit sehr schöne Aussicht. Nettes und freundliches Personal.

Kaiserschmarrn top, Wirtin flop (absolut unfreundlich)

Sehr zu empfehlen wer eine tolle Wanderung von Mittenwald aus machen möchte der darf sich hier auf einen kühles Bier und dieverse Speisen freuen und natürlich hat man eine super auch auf die umliegenden Berge.

Great mountain around with snow

Eine kleine anspruchsvolle Bergwanderung zur Brunnsteinhütte. Man überquert eine Hängebrücke und nach unendlichen zickzack Wegen kommt man dann endlich in der Brunnsteinhütte an. Das einzige Manko ist ein Parkplatz unten im Tal zu finden, wenn die wenigen Parkplätze alle belegt sind. Dann gibt es nur die Möglichkeit in Mittenwald zu parken und dann wird der Weg zur Brunnsteinhütte noch länger. Aber absolut empfehlenswert. Eine schöne Aussicht bei einem erfrischenden Getränk. Die Speisen sehen auch sehr lecker aus. Es gibt die üblichen Hüttenspeisen!

Einstieg .von Parkplatz Nähe Scharnitz oder von Mittenwald aus.Oder Abstieg von Karwendelroute.Anstieg recht steil teilweise. Bergschuhe erforderlich ! Essen und Getränke gut. Freundliches Personal

Waren mit einer Gruppe von ca. zehn Personen (alle um die 20 Jahre) an einem Wochenende auf der Hütte. Haben dort einen wunderschönen Tag verbracht, sehr gut gegessen und wurden vom Hüttepersonal sehr nett betreut. Kann die Brunnsteinhütte nur weiterempfehlen!

Schöne Wanderung, schattig, nicht sehr lange, ca. 1,5 Stunden gemütlich! Oben angekommen, vernünftig gegessen, sogar verschiedene Salate! Schöne Aussicht und super Terrasse! Kommen gerne wieder!

Der Weg hinauf zur Brunnsteinhütte lohnt sich allemal. Ist man oben angekommen, wird man auf der schönen Terrasse mit einem tollen Panorama und lecker Speis und Trank belohnt.

This is a true hikers hut. Only has dorm rooms and a bathroom outside. It was all very clean and the family running it were really nice. The alke up was great. The food is traditional hikers fare. Take the path 284 thtough the forest. It is pretty and not difficult. There are many more difficult trails nearby.

Je nach Übung kann man vom Parkplatz in 2 bis zweieinhalb Stunden dort sein, hinunter langt eine Eindreiviertelstunde. Die Einkehr lohnt sich auf jeden Fall , es gibt gutes und preiswertes Essen bei fantastischem Fernblick. Die Hütte macht auch ausserhalb der Saison oft am Wochenende auf, wenn das Wetter mitspielt, es lohnt also, einfach nachzufragen.

Wir sind heute mit unserem 2 jährigem Kind in der Kraxe da hoch. Zwischendurch mit vielen Laufeinheiten des Kurzen. Dadurch dauerte es etwas länger. Oben angekommen wurde zuerst der Sandkasten mit den vielen Spielgeräten in Beschlag genommen. Dadurch konnten wir Eltern mal etwas entspannen. Wir haben nur Getränke zu uns genommen, da wir heute ausnahmsweise ausreichend Proviant dabei hatten. Preise und das Essen der Tischnachbarn waren in einem ordentlichen Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Die Tiere waren ebenfalls eine willkommene Abwechslung. Toiletten für eine Alm-Hütte absolut ok und sauber!

Lecker Speisen und Getränke vor allem die Chäs Spatzen ein muss. Sehr gemütliche und freundliche Lokalität

+Sehr freundlicher und schneller Service. +Sehr gutes Essen (insbesondere die Rehwürschtl). +Große Auswahl auch an frischen Speisen (Salate etc.) +Reichlich Sitzmöglichkeiten. -lediglich die Toiletten sind grausig.

Trotz weitverbreiteter Convenienc-Produkte auf den Hütten, wird hier noch alles von Hüttenwirt händig zubereitet. Kaiserschmarrn auf dem Herd frisch hergerichtet, unten am Lautersee Tiefkühl-Pfannkuchen-Pillen auf Schmarrn-Art, nicht gut und teurer. Die Brunnsteinhütte ist bei jedem Aufenthalt als Besuch fest eingeplant. Francesco nickt da zustimmend.

Mooie plek, na een flinke klim door de sneeuw. Een mooi terras met een geweldig uitzicht. Vriendelijke bediening en lekker eten.

Unseren Aufenthalt können wir nur mit freundlichen Gastgebern, sehr gutem und leckerem bayrischen Essen und einer sehr netten kameradschaftlichen Atmosphäre in der Hütte beschreiben. Uns hat der Aufenthalt trotz schlechtem und kaltem Wetter sehr gut gefallen.

Die Hütte ist sowohl von Mittenwald aus als Tagesziel erreichbar - es ist eine leichte Bergtour, aber kein Spaziergang - oder sie liegt am Weg beim Abstieg vom Mittenwalder Höhenweg. Eine Einkehr in der Hütte lohnt auf jeden Fall.

Worth the trip. It will take 2 hours to hike from Mittenwald but the food and the views is worth the trek!

The restaurant was closed when I was there but it doesn't matter if they serve cow patties because the hike up is amazing. We got a trail map from the tourist info center in Mittenwald, if you want to hike go get one it's the best trail map/systems I've been on. You could hike for months with it and not get lost. We took the 280 trail to 284 to 291 which takes you across the leitersteig mountain bridge. The hike up including the walk from town was about 3 hours at a slow pace. We came down on 292 which only took about 45 minutes.

Hiking to Brunnsteinhutte over the Leitersteig is a very nice experience. From the hut you have nice opportunities to go further on to the Brunnsteinspitze or more advanced paths as Heinrich Noe Klettersteig and Mittenwalder Höhenwg. The hut is very rustically with good food, nice beer and a fantastic view. Can be strongly recommended.

The Alpenvereinshutte and the Brunnsteinhutte are 2 different alpine huts near Mittenwald. The Alpenvereinshutte takes 2 hours 30 minutes to walk to on a forestry road, which is quite steep in some places. There are lovely views of the Wetterstein and Zugspitze mountain ranges on the walk. A lovely alternative return is through the Jagersteig, which is a woodland path, passing many waterfalls. The apple cake and coffee at the hut was very tasty and good value. Meals were also available.

The Brunnsteinhutte and the Alpenvereinshutte are 2 different alpine huts near Mittenwald. The Brunnsteinhutte takes approximately 2 hours to walk to from Mittenwald. The climb through the forest is quite steep at first on a woodland path, but levels out a bit after crossing the suspension bridge. From the hut there are excellent views over the Wetterstein range and the Wilder Kaiser mountains in Austria. We all tried the warm cheese cake and coffee, which was excellent and good value.

We went up from Mittenwald and enjoyed it thoroughly, its only a bit of 700 m in height / so we went a bit slow, but its a good starter for the whole family. the food on top was excellent and we had the dumplings in soup, wonderful. have a look at the biodynamic toilets...
