The atmosphere at the Roter Hirsch is very pleasant and cozy. The breakfast buffet (during the week) is rather small, but very tasty. Egg dishes are freshly prepared and served at the table. Coffee, tea, water, orange juice, and apple juice are included in the price. I personally would have liked a small trash can on the table. Otherwise, I thought it was very good.

Generally quite nice, but the prices are completely overpriced.

We went there for lunch, everything was fine. Only the price of a non-alcoholic wheat beer at lunch surprised me.

We went here for breakfast today based on a recommendation, but were somewhat disappointed overall. The selection was decent, but nothing special. We were particularly disappointed that there were no plant-based milk alternatives – even for an extra charge, which we would have gladly paid. Unfortunately, the restaurant was very cold and therefore not very cozy. We also felt the music (loud rock) was inappropriate for breakfast. On the positive side, the waiter was very friendly. Overall, we won't be coming back, as there are other places that offer a significantly better breakfast and atmosphere for the same price.

We went to the Christmas breakfast buffet today with a group, and unfortunately, our experience was awful. First, the tables were packed so tightly that we barely had any space. Then, after just 10 minutes, everything on the buffet was gone, and it took forever for it to be refilled. This continued until the very end. We were practically yelled at when we asked if there were any more cups. Tables weren't cleared. Some items were only taken away just before we left. And then came the kicker: the buffet prices had apparently been increased by a whole four euros within two months. We weren't told this when we made the reservation, which was really unfair. After this experience, we will definitely avoid the Roter Hirsch.

The breakfast buffet was alright. There were fried and scrambled eggs. They tasted good, but it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted them before they were served. The coffee was lukewarm and had to be fetched from the buffet. We weren't allowed to take our own coffee pots to the table, as there were only two small ones available.

The food was a complete disappointment: the schnitzels were frozen and the sauces were definitely not homemade. Even the vegan schnitzel, about the size of a small saucer, was frozen. And all of this was overpriced... It used to be much better, and we'll never be back after this disappointment. Since it was very empty, it seems other guests felt the same way. The waiter apologized for the fast-food-quality food and was embarrassed to have served such a meal.

Mega buffet highly recommended!

Tasteless rice, sauce from a packet, unseasoned "fried potatoes." The tomato soup tasted like pasta sauce from a jar. The staff was disinterested and more occupied with their phones than with the guests. One star for the sweet potato fries, which were okay. You have to go upstairs to use the restrooms. There's some kind of small kitchen under the open staircase where an employee was working; he had a perfect view up the ladies' skirts as he went upstairs. The restroom was cold and dark, but as far as we could tell, clean. We won't be coming back. The prices are absolutely exorbitant for what you get.

We had barely stepped inside when they thrust the menus into our hands. The waiter was dressed as if he were at home. The value for money is absolutely terrible; everything is frozen.

I go there once a month with a group of about 20 people. We have reserved tables, which the staff is aware of, but unfortunately the reservation system doesn't work. The service (ordering) is also disastrous; after many attempts, we can't reach the person! I do not recommend this restaurant!

Visited at lunchtime. They only have a buffet at lunchtime, but the schnitzel is delicious, and the all-you-can-eat option for 16.5 is amazing. The beer, Hirsch Dunkel, is also great!

The service and ambiance are excellent, high praise! The cheese spaetzle doesn't taste that good. The drink prices are absolutely outrageous, hence only 2 stars. This alone is enough to stop me from coming back. A shame!

Addendum from September 18, 2025: We visited again. The service was still very friendly, but the food at the lunch buffet was unfortunately only of snack quality. It wasn't as clean as it used to be. It's a shame, though. The ambiance and location are great, but we won't be returning anytime soon. Naturally, we entered the restaurant with high expectations, so the disappointment was a real blow. The service was responsive to customer requests, and even though the place was extremely busy, the food and drinks arrived in a reasonable time. The food was of good quality. This was my first visit to this restaurant, but certainly not the last.

Wow! It was a spontaneous visit for us! It was our first time at this restaurant and we just wanted a quick bite to eat. When I entered the restaurant, I was a bit overwhelmed. There were tables lined up in long rows; it had a cafeteria feel, but a lot more upscale. But a little further on, there were individual tables for two to four people. When the food arrived, I couldn't believe my eyes. How was I going to eat it all! On the plate were two schnitzels the size of a dessert plate, plus fried potatoes. The food was very attractively presented and delicious.

We went to eat at Roter Hirsch last night for the first time (unfortunately, also the last!)! There were three of us, and the appetizer, bread with various dips, was really delicious! Then our food arrived! It looked good, but nothing tasted good, absolutely nothing 😵‍💫 We sat for at least 45 minutes with our still-full plates, with absolutely no interest in clearing anything away! Then we went inside to pay and just left! We're really sorry about such a situation, supposed to be a great restaurant, but it's unfortunately being run down! Change something, and maybe it'll turn out alright! Unfortunately, we won't be coming back!

Friendly people, a large beer selection, and delicious food. There's also something for vegans and vegetarians. I highly recommend the house beer, a delicious, slightly lager-flavored lager.

We happened to stop at the "Roter Hirsch" brewery restaurant in Rheine, and it was a very pleasant surprise. We drank an excellent unfiltered Helles beer, the fries were perfect, and the toasted bread with ham and cheese was—to our surprise—accompanied by a delicious salad with sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Everything was delicious and prepared with care. Unfortunately, we were just passing through and didn't have enough time to fully enjoy the food, but we would have loved to stay longer. The waitress was extremely friendly and spoke to us in English, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Thank you for your hospitality! Highly recommended! 🌟

Signs outside invited people to try something that wasn't available "today." We still had a good meal and enjoyed a beer under a large umbrella. However, I had imagined "brewery" to be something other than a factory-run pub serving run-of-the-mill beers. You have to like such a dark, stylish ambiance, but I'm probably too old for that. I was surprised by the small toilet upstairs for so many seats.

Four people went to dinner, and the portions were generous and delicious. Unfortunately, we didn't quite manage to finish... The atmosphere was great, and the servers were very attentive and friendly. We would eat here again anytime.

The ambiance has become truly beautiful. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. It lacked flavor and was far too expensive. Even the fried potatoes, which any homemaker could make better and which we've tried several times, were never truly good. There's still plenty of room for improvement. If this turns out to be a success, it will be an absolutely fantastic place to linger. A brewery simply lacks quick snacks. Not everyone likes fries.

We had a schnitzel and a hirsch pancake. The food was reheated with little love. The service was also mediocre. The terrace is nicely situated, though.

We sat in a nearly empty restaurant for 20 minutes, waiting for a server to order our drinks and food. No one paid any attention. After that, we got up and left. Service was absolutely awful. We've never experienced anything like it before – definitely not a recommendation.

We were drawn to it through the coupon booklet. The salad was a disaster and completely sandy, crunching as we ate it. The main course was edible but not exactly amazing, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. The ambiance outside is quite worn; it wasn't even wiped down before the food was placed on the table. All in all, not recommended!

A service person was very unfriendly and even rude to us. We wanted to speak to the boss, but were denied. We then left without ordering anything. An email the next day wasn't even responded to. Overall, they don't value satisfied guests here. I've never experienced anything like that before. It's a shame, actually a nice shop.

There were a lot of crumbs on our table - even though the restaurant was open. The staff was very accommodating, empty dishes were cleared away immediately, and people asked several times whether everything was to their satisfaction or whether something was missing. Overall, we were completely satisfied, both with the staff and with the offerings at the buffet. We sat very nicely, the price-performance ratio was more than good. In summary, we can only recommend the Sunday brunch here.

We sat at a table right next to the kitchen, it was like being on a highway, even though only a few tables were occupied. The service is bad, at first we just wanted to have drinks, but we got the food we ordered straight away. The drinks didn't taste good either, by the way, the ingredients noted on the menu (raspberries) weren't in the drink. The food was ok, but not worth mentioning, others do it better. This wasn't our first visit, but definitely our last.

We came in nice weather and sat on the cozy terrace. There was live music which suited us well. Unfortunately it was difficult to order. If you waved to be helped, you only waved back. The beer and wine tasted good.

We went to a crime dinner at the Roter Hirschen and were disappointed with the food. The performance, the actors, the execution and the crime thriller were great, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the food. The 3-course menu consisted of kale soup, roast beef with dumplings and sauerkraut and a pancake with half a waffle, a scoop of berry ice cream and strawberry sauce for dessert. Both the presentation of the food and the taste were not a culinary highlight! It definitely lacked taste and sophistication. The price-performance ratio simply wasn't right here. Drinks were also extra. Unfortunately, this fact really marred the great event!

Went to the Hirschen for a crime dinner last weekend. If you advertise culinary highlights on the homepage, then I was probably in the wrong restaurant. The actors were great and the service was great too. But if I pay €89 per card and the drinks are extra, I also expect culinary highlights with my meal. All the plates that came from the kitchen were not preheated, so the food got cold quickly. Kale soup, a piece of meat with 2 dumplings with sauerkraut and then half a waffle/penkake with a scoop of ice cream for dessert? And actually the eye also eats, nothing was attractively prepared. That can't actually be the aim if you want to call yourself a restaurant. I've eaten better in canteens. Conclusion of the evening: crime dinner again but in a different location

The ambience in the Roter Hirsch is great, if it weren't for the completely filthy toilets. In addition, there is a terrible draft at some of the tables in the store, but according to the service staff, this was not possible because all the tables were reserved. (We sat there for 3 more hours and the surrounding tables remained empty). The worst thing about the Red Here is the food. Cold, tasteless and not recommended at all! I advise every guest not to dine there!

The spare ribs were delicious, but unfortunately the fried potatoes were not fried potatoes according to my definition. A wonderful place to relax with friends

In May 2024 (!) I made a table order for 5 people for December 31, 2024 via the red deer reservation page. There were no indications of New Year's Eve events at that time. It was okay because we just wanted to eat something and celebrate privately afterwards. Today (November 27th, 2024) I received a call that I now have to confirm the reservation of the 5 places by purchasing 5 New Year's Eve tickets for 99 euros each...!?! My question as to why the call was only being made now (5 weeks before New Year's Eve; you won't get anything anymore anyway) was answered succinctly with a system error that was only now noticed. Unfortunately very unprofessional.

Good place to eat or just have a drink

This was the second time I was a guest at the Roter Hirsch brewery. On my first visit a year and a half ago, I really liked everything except the service. On my second visit a good two weeks ago I was not at all satisfied and this visit also reflects my rating. I was the first guest that evening. There were three people in service and four people in the kitchen who were obviously just chatting. The drinks came quickly and the service staff was very friendly. The service staff did their best. I ordered a steak. A group of four came after me and had their food on the table after about an hour. My food was a long time coming. After about an hour and a half I asked and was assured that the food would be ready in a few minutes. I asked several times about it and was told it would be ready in 2 minutes. After 2 hours I paid for my drinks and left the restaurant hungry. I won't visit the restaurant again.

People very friendly and helpful. But the service staff... She Blond: I used to cellar, it was a while ago! But why do you run empty from table to table but send someone else to do this and do that? Why can't you do this yourself? I would rather give my tip to the person who is running back and forth for a long time. And not the person who just bosses around!!!! And apparently she just sat at the counter for a long time and didn't do anything but kept sending the younger man around. If you are a restaurant manager, which unfortunately I can't see, or a service manager. Isn't that an excuse why don't you move yourself? Except for this one person It's a great shop and I'd love to come back alone or with friends to drink my way through the beer menu 😅

Oh, what an outrageous insult to the palate! Never before have I been treated to such a disgusting meal, which surpasses in taste even the meager preserves. This miserable currywurst, a disgrace to any gourmet, has to be considered the most disgusting dish I have ever dared to taste. The drinks, a mockery of any respectable restaurant, are not only exorbitantly priced, but also diluted with a disgusting amount of ice - what blatant audacity! But the real trouble revealed itself in the service staff. The lady who condescendingly honored us by serving us was unrivaled in her unfriendliness. Such outrageous audacity, what an affront to all principles of politeness and etiquette! All in all: a visit that can confidently be described as the most despicable and unforgivable of all time. I strongly advise against it! Anyone who has even an ounce of self-respect should move on to someone else as quickly as possible Turn to the establishment!

Ambience: Great ambience, great lighting and the sanitary facilities in perfect condition. Services: A super sweet, nice, young and attentive waitress who constantly asked how we were - something like that is rare and has to be kept! Eat: Based on the prices, I don't find the food to be "appropriate" for the price - but still a bit bland. Appropriate only because the schnitzel was only fried in the deep fryer, inappropriate because it was killed (despite few customers). We turned a blind eye to the overall package and your service saved you.
