Brauhaus Bismarcks in Bad Ems

We were greeted warmly; we had a reservation for three people. Our request for a window seat was granted. The restaurant was festively decorated and cozy. That was the good news! Unfortunately, the evening didn't improve: The order was taken relatively quickly (15-minute wait). However, we waited a very long time for the food. The appetizer took 20 minutes, and then another 15 minutes for the main course. Our son was quite hungry. First, our orders arrived, each for a burger, with the explanation that our son's meal would only take another two minutes. I personally find it unacceptable when family members receive their food at different times and others have to wait. Then, after five minutes, our son's currywurst arrived. He was able to eat it immediately because it was only lukewarm. That's unacceptable. The main course arrived later and wasn't even hot. The fries on all the plates were so overly crispy that you'd think they'd been fried three times. The sausage was completely cold after just a few minutes. The burgers we ordered were dripping with sauce, and the burger patty was burnt on the bottom. Because of all the sauce, you couldn't taste it right away, but it was so tough it was almost impossible to chew. I didn't finish it. After the meal, I spent 15 minutes trying to get the attention of one of the four servers. No one came to us on their own or asked if we needed anything else. I waved with my arm out, but no one saw that either. So I went to the counter to ask for the bill. The servers were outside smoking, which meant it took at least another 10 minutes. The server who brought us the bill asked if everything had been alright. We expressed our concerns about sharing the food and the fact that it was lukewarm and burnt. He said he would pass it on to the kitchen and offered us a complimentary coffee. As we don't drink coffee, we declined. Besides, after the long wait, we just wanted to go home. The service was very inattentive; the staff were friendly, but not present. At €70 for two burgers, one currywurst, three drinks, and one bottle of water, the food was definitely not good enough. We were very disappointed and cannot recommend this restaurant for a proper meal. The view of the Lahn River is great! But that shouldn't be the only good reason to visit a restaurant.

We arrived at the restaurant hungry and full of anticipation. I ordered the tomato and mozzarella skewers, but what arrived was a salad with a few pre-made mozzarella balls from the supermarket and some sliced ​​tomatoes. This had absolutely nothing to do with skewers, as each skewer contained a single small mozzarella ball and two pieces of tomato. It was unseasoned, unprepared, and the ingredients were simply thrown together. Two-thirds of the dish consisted of bland salad. Absolutely disappointing and ridiculous for €12. Not recommended in the slightest.

We were very hungry and looking forward to a proper meal. However, we encountered our first major problem as soon as we arrived: they didn't accept card payments. In this day and age, that's really inconvenient, especially for guests who drop by spontaneously. As a result, we didn't have enough cash on us and were forced to opt for one of the cheaper dishes. We chose the mozzarella skewers for €12 – and were unfortunately completely disappointed. The portion was extremely small: Four tiny skewers, each with a halved tomato and a small ball of mozzarella. The whole thing was unseasoned, tasteless, and seemed more like a makeshift snack than a proper meal. It came with a salad without dressing, which made up almost the entire plate. Lots of greens, hardly any flavor, hardly any substance. Overall, the dish seemed uninspired, overpriced, and completely unsuitable for hungry guests. ... The food was also weak – nothing was really tasty, nothing was harmonious, everything was rather disappointing. The only positive aspects: the atmosphere and the view. The location itself is beautiful and deserves one star for that. But the food, the value for money, and the organization?

The food was okay. The fried potatoes were simply sliced, deep-fried potatoes with nothing else. The meat was unfortunately unseasoned. Great view, very friendly service. Cash only. Another employee (owner?) was loudly watching videos on his phone. Otherwise, a nice atmosphere. Limited parking; there are three abandoned cars parked in front of the restaurant.

We visited Brauhaus Bismarcks based on the many positive reviews and were initially very optimistic. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) were served in a cream sauce, which, in our opinion, is not typical for this dish. The taste was rather average, and there was very little of the usual crispy onions. The portion was relatively small (like an appetizer), but the price was comparable to a main course. The burger wasn't very hot and tasted average. The chicken strips were okay. The beautiful view, which enhanced the experience, was a definite plus. The service was friendly, but we had to ask for the bill several times (about 20 minutes), and I ended up going to the register myself. As a result, the tip was a bit smaller. What was also extremely annoying was the bass in the music; the bass was constantly loud, while the music itself was barely audible! I'm not one for leaving bad reviews, but this time it had to be done!

Unfortunately, no more stars can be awarded here. It started as soon as we walked in. No greeting, nothing. It took far too long for someone from the service department to come to the table for the first time. The service staff generally seemed to have been inadequately trained, and even the table was only cleaned upon request. Here is the detailed review of the food: Appetizer: was initially brought to the wrong table. Shrimp in oil were 6 frozen shrimp. Tasteless, dry. Obazda (traditional German sausage) was served with two slices of cheap baguette bread and a generous side salad without dressing. Main course: arrived reasonably quickly. Overall, every dish was completely drenched in fat. The schnitzel was tasteless, and the fried potatoes weren't prepared according to the usual recipe. The winemaker's steak was overcooked and unseasoned. Even the fries were too greasy and unseasoned. The vegetable side dish was frozen food fried in fat. Overall, we left a lot of it over because it was simply inedible. Payment: The food wasn't really worth a cent. We also had to list everything we ordered, as there apparently isn't a proper ordering system. Why is all this happening? It seems as if some of the staff here are untrained (there was apparently a change of management some time ago). Why didn't we give feedback on the spot? Because no one asked how the food was or anything else. As good restaurateurs, it's part of our job to actively solicit feedback from guests. Overall, poor service and poor food; we definitely won't be coming back.

Fantastic views over Bad Ems and the Rhine, friendly service, rustic food, rather simple cuisine—the restaurant is showing its age. Nevertheless, it's ideal for a cool drink and a relaxing break with a view.

I ate here several times during my rehab. The staff was always friendly and attentive. The food (I tried several dishes) was always incredibly delicious: The winemaker's pan and the cheeseburger left you feeling stuffed. The highlight of the restaurant is the incomparable view over Bad Ems. The restaurant is located next to the mountain station of the Kurwaldbahn cable car.

I can't recommend it—an aging restaurant with unimaginative tables, artificial flowers, and napkins that are a foreign concept. We ordered waffles with hot cherries, but by the time they arrived, the coffee was cold. It was probably warmed-up porridge, cherries, and some dark berries. There was no receipt with the prices on it. Only the view made up for it. The ride up on the Kurwaldbahn, one of the steepest railways in the world, is definitely worth it.

When paying, we also noticed that there was no proper system—guests had to list their order themselves. Overall, poor service, poor food, and no interest in guest feedback. The staff is sooooo accommodating and really goes out of their way to make guests feel comfortable! The food was excellent and the service was amazing! The cleanliness and organization also left much to be desired. The food was of poor quality, lacking in flavor, and seemed carelessly prepared. It didn't inspire enthusiasm. The checkout line was even more chaotic. Overall, there was a lack of professionalism in all areas – neither the service nor the kitchen were convincing. We won't be returning.

You imagine something different when you think of a brewery. The view of the Lahn Valley from the terrace is stunning. The service in the brewery is absolutely uncaring. The food is rather subpar in taste.

We had a reservation, but people who arrived after us were served first, very enthusiastically, well...! That they make such distinctions between guests... We were only second choice. Our food came very quickly, the plates were carelessly prepared and simply placed in front of us without a kind word or a "bon appétit," and it didn't taste good either. Absolutely terrible, it's unacceptable. Never again. It's a shame that such waitresses are ruining the business with their behavior these days! To top it all off, we were threatened by a would-be boss who apparently also has a say. Well, now we're banned from the premises. With such "service," no loss!

On June 19, 2025, we had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. It was my birthday 😩!! The food didn't live up to expectations and was of a disappointing quality. However, when we politely addressed this, the manager and his wife reacted extremely rudely and rudely. Instead of showing understanding, we were treated disrespectfully and ultimately even thrown out. Such behavior towards guests is unacceptable. We will not visit this restaurant again and unfortunately cannot recommend it to anyone. I have never experienced a restaurant like this in my life 😡…

After a relaxing day at the Emser Therme spa, we went to eat at Brauhaus Bismarcks – and it was the perfect choice! 🍽️ The food was absolutely top-notch: fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service was also extremely friendly and attentive, making us feel immediately at home. An all-around perfect combination of a cozy atmosphere, excellent food, and great service. A definite recommendation for anyone looking for the perfect end to a wonderful day in Bad Ems!

REVIEW – Regional Food Testing Episode 18 (unfortunately?) First impression? Card payment not currently possible. Too bad, but hey - PayPal makes it possible. Modern alternative and pure romance. Ambience: View wow, decor so-so The view? A solid 10/10. Can't complain, truly gorgeous. The decor, on the other hand... let's call it "stylistically undecided." Somewhere between farmhouse romance, flea market finds, and "I'll do it with Pinterest." A matter of taste, sure – but taste was obviously on vacation here. Hygiene: An ode to the extinction of insects The tables were slightly sticky – or was that the new "sticky design"? On the windowsill: a silent reminder of summer. Dozens of dead flies. In the glass vase next to me: a small insect graveyard with bees, beetles, and probably the odd soul still waiting for service. Insect lovers will definitely get their money's worth here – you just have to blow them away yourself. Service: A mix of "Lost" and improvisational theater We were asked six times if we'd ordered yet. I felt a bit like I was on "Groundhog Day," only with waiters. Nobody knew where which food should go. Guests were moved around spontaneously like Musical Chairs – only without the music. Or maybe they were: The staff played loud videos on their cell phones or seemed to be on the phone with the whole family – at the same time. Multitasking at its finest. The payment process: poetic. We went to the counter, were ignored, then a waiter wordlessly typed something (presumably his tax return?) and called out to a man on the phone to "get on with it." The man slipped in "394" halfway through the conference call – and that was it. No goodbye, no "How was it?", no eye contact. A true ghosting goodbye. Food: A warm greeting from the microwave? The fried potatoes were a work of art somewhere between a volcano and an ice cave – hot, cold, burnt, everything. The schnitzel was so oily, I almost used it as a lamp. The meat was... okay. Really simple: okay. The sauce seemed like it had already made a few rounds in the restaurant – maybe more than I had. The presentation? Unloving, like the end of a Tinder relationship. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT: 1. Train staff – urgently. It's not enough to balance a tray if you completely lose contact with customers. With one or two behaviors, it would be easy to increase sales. No cell phone noises while working, no bro-like philosophizing. No "jumping down the stairs." The guest should feel comfortable. 2. Hygiene: One windowsill insect exorcism, please. And maybe a wipe. Maybe it's not always like that, but the guest has a snapshot. You can certainly do better. 3. Improve organization – routing, seating, ordering... currently, it's more improvisational theater than gastronomy. 4. Consistently establish the ambiance – a clear style would be strong. Currently, it's a bit of a "anything is the main thing." 5. Food prepared with love: Fresh, well-thought-out, properly cooked. And without an oil slick. Guests want to eat with you because they have expectations, not because they're too lazy to cook. Fried potatoes with onions and bacon, beautifully garnished and presented. CONCLUSION: The location has potential – seriously. The view is amazing, the basic concept could work. But currently, the place is a disaster. If the staff is trained, the processes are right, and the food is prepared with love, then – and only then – does the restaurant really have a chance to become truly good. And who knows: Maybe card payments will work again someday. It would also be important for the manager to learn how to handle online criticism professionally. Guests write to you to help you, not to harm you. And if that seems to be the case, it's still better to officially accept the criticism or refute it with a friendly comment and argument. Make something of it!

Four of us were there. Everything was delicious. Prices were reasonable. Except for the cheese spaetzle, which was too expensive for 14.90 euros. The salad plate was also forgotten, but I only noticed it after leaving. But I was charged the full price. The view is priceless. The service was attentive and friendly, thank you. The restrooms are musty; something should be done about that. We'll be back. And you can take the cable car up for 6 euros per person, round trip.

We were a group of about 15 people. The young, female waitress, wearing excessive makeup, was arrogant, rude, incompetent, and clumsy! Once and never again!

It's a little pricey. But it's worth it. The views are incredible, and the food is delicious. And bring cash, because they don't accept cards.

...the guys could be more on their toes...not enough change, no card payments, empty beer glasses aren't taken away...the terrace is obviously a plus point. Not enough tissue paper in the restroom area. I find kitchen roll or toilet paper for drying hands a bit unhygienic. Actually, this is a gold mine...don't open so early during the week, but later than 11 a.m.... At lunchtime, I would suggest a ☕ board with 🎂.

Unfortunately, my visit doesn't leave a positive impression. I have allergies and am vegan, and I asked the server for the allergen list, which is prominently displayed on the first page of the menu. The server said she would first order my drinks and then she could tell me what I could eat. Since I like to choose my food in peace, I asked for the allergen list a second time after ordering my drinks. The server then said, and I quote: "You must have been listening to me carefully. I'll tell you when you order if you can eat it!" So, with the server at my back, I should choose something and trust her word. Sure, I could have had a salad with oil and vinegar or visited another vegan-friendly restaurant, but I was traveling with a larger group and didn't want to miss out on the socializing, as a well-labeled menu is enough for me to avoid being excluded. I ordered the veggie burger, which consisted of a greasy bun, two small hash browns (ready-made), a leaf of lettuce, and onions with an unidentifiable seasoning, along with fries. It came with sour cream and mayo, which unfortunately went to waste because I'd opted out of those with the cheese. I actually didn't have an allergic reaction, but I would have preferred a friendlier response. As I said, we were a larger group, the wrong drinks arrived, and the person sitting opposite me was asked three times if her plate could be cleared, even though there was still food on it. Unfortunately, she was the last one at the table to eat. Two of the three restrooms were blocked off, which made using the restroom a lot of seating a priority. My first impression is unfortunately negative; I hope other allergy sufferers have a better experience.

The view from up there is fantastic; the almost 2-minute ride on the steepest cog railway is fantastic (although it costs €6 for a round trip). But you can sit comfortably up there on the terrace, inside, or even in the beer garden. The only drawback is that the service could be a bit better, at least in the beer garden area.

The ambiance was good, the service was friendly, and the food and drinks arrived very quickly. However, the salad was drowning in dressing and was soggy and inedible. The arugula should have had its stems removed. The goat cheese wasn't great either. We've had much better food in the region. We won't be eating there again.

Today was our second time eating here. Unfortunately, offering a chicken schnitzel as a children's schnitzel isn't possible. The portion was very small for an adult. The wait times are a bit long. Service was okay. The restrooms are in dire need of renovation. They should also check regularly to see if there are any towels left. What's more than strange, however, is that there's always a notice outside saying "No card payments accepted today. PayPal is an alternative." Unfortunately, this is a scam, and they're probably trying to rip people off. The payment method is very confusing. The food itself tasted good.

Wow, highly recommended! Very friendly staff. Delicious fried potatoes and a fantastic view. We'd love to come back. Very child-friendly, and the atmosphere inside is great too! There's also a playground nearby. The parking spaces offer shade, and you can also take the cable car.

We celebrated our daughter's first birthday today at Brauhaus Bismarcks – combined with her baptism. Despite a full house (there was also a confirmation taking place at the same time, and there were lots of walk-ins), the team organized everything perfectly. It was truly packed, but the staff was absolutely professional and didn't show any signs of stress for a second. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and incredibly prompt – drinks were brought to our tables in no time, and they regularly asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. The meal was served as a three-course buffet – everything fresh, lovingly prepared, and simply delicious. From the appetizer to dessert, every dish was a hit. Even special requests like the spontaneous champagne reception were accommodated without a hitch. The venue was beautifully decorated – exactly as we imagined. The chef even brought our daughter's birthday cake himself – complete with a fountain of fireworks! That was a very special moment. We've had many celebrations at other venues, but from now on, we'll only celebrate at Bismarcks. Everything was just perfect here – preparation, food, service, atmosphere. Many thanks to the entire team for this unforgettable day!

I celebrated my birthday with brunch at the Bismarck Tower. The room was beautifully decorated, and the advance arrangements were completely uncomplicated and pleasant. The entire staff was so friendly, it couldn't have gone any better. And the food was simply amazing! There was more than enough of everything, it tasted amazing, and was presented in a superb way. Unfortunately, I won't have another milestone birthday for another decade that I would celebrate in a bigger way, but until then, we'll definitely be coming back for à la carte meals more often. Thank you so much again for making the day so perfect for me and my guests! 🫶

We had to wait an hour for our food. Difficult with children. Value for money: a small hunter's schnitzel for €18 (without salad). Taste: Edible, but you'd expect more from a brewery than mini schnitzel.

A very nice restaurant with an amazing view. Two of us had dinner at the Brauhaus, and even though it was quite busy, the waitress was very friendly and found a spot for us. The food is very good and definitely worth a visit. The service team was friendly and answered our questions. We'll definitely be back. 😊

Everything was great, was there from the end of April to the end of May and again in June because it is just beautiful, keep it up

The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is delicious, although the portions are a bit smaller than you might expect from a brewery. However, there's still room for a delicious waffle. The view from up here is breathtaking. The ambiance has a certain charm.

Looking for a restaurant in Bad Ems with nice weather... we were probably dazzled by the exterior... the salad with chicken breast pieces was outrageous for €15... the taste, quantity, sauce... nothing. The wine glass was so dirty with some kind of red residue... the Jägerschnitzel was acceptable, but nothing more... the service was unfriendly and communication was poor. Sorry, but that's not acceptable.

It's a very nice location, with a beautiful view of the valley. The cheeseburger and schnitzel were delicious. The brewery's own beer is also very tasty. Unfortunately, it's not produced on site, and the waiter didn't know where exactly. So why the place is called a brewery is beyond me. It's probably also very nice on the terrace in nice weather.

The Zurich schnitzel is amazing. I've rarely experienced such professional, attentive, and fast service. ...and the view is amazing.

Today, three of us visited Bismarcks Brauhaus and had a drink on the terrace. The view is fantastic, but the service, unfortunately, was not. We ordered an iced coffee and a non-alcoholic cocktail. The cocktail came in a wine glass, only half full of liquid, but topped with cream. My "iced coffee" was a lukewarm latte with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I had ordered without cream, which was correct, but everything else was. My boyfriend first complained about the amount of cocktail. After that, I sent my iced coffee back, because for me, an iced coffee at least involves cold coffee. I then asked for a cappuccino instead, which was brought. My boyfriend's cocktail was also refilled. So, up to that point, everything was fine. When we wanted to pay, the waitress asked us rather bluntly to pay directly to the manager inside. No problem, we'll do that too. At the cash register, we then noticed that several things had been typed incorrectly on our table. When I asked for the iced coffee to be changed to a regular cappuccino, the manager pointed out that he didn't understand the problem with the iced coffee. It would have been perfectly normal. I replied that it was a lukewarm latte with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The manager said that wasn't true, the coffee wasn't warm. I told him that the glass was lukewarm. He denied it again. Both my friend and I touched it, and it was lukewarm. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo... When I replied that that didn't look like an iced coffee according to my definition, I was told that according to his definition, it did, and that this was his iced coffee. In my opinion, an iced coffee is at least cold... The iced coffee was then changed to a cappuccino with an eye roll, but the way they talk condescendingly to guests in this restaurant is unacceptable and hasn't happened to me like that in a long time. Unfortunately, that has to go into a review. In my opinion, dealing with guest criticism in such a rude manner is not appropriate in the hospitality industry, especially from the boss himself. I would not have expected that.

We were there today with six people, and the view was beautiful. Very nice, polite, and attentive service. My food was so delicious 😋 I made a good choice. Visiting you at all wasn't a mistake. I'll definitely be back. Best, Knorr
