The food is great and is only topped by the outstanding and friendly service! The atmosphere is one of hustle and bustle and good humor. Now this shop actually boasts "45 years of Brasserie Hülsmann", and is probably a reference to the previous achievements of the owner Jenny Hülsmann's father, Robert Hülsmann, who was actually banned from the brasserie here. If you want to enjoy Robert's cuisine, you're better off going to Robert. stop at Rathausufer 10 (be sure to pay attention to the point behind Robert). Because after his death, people continue to cook according to his recipes and celebrate in the same ambience with the same style and service. The Brasserie Hülsmann only offers a copy of the same and has not existed at this location for 45 years. Maybe Jenny should just keep things a little flatter and devote more attention to quality in the kitchen

Yesterday we went to the brasserie as greenhorns. We had to wait a bit for a free space for 4 people. Once we were at the table, things really started! Service, food, ambience and especially the acoustics were a dream. The individual dishes were a poem. We tried them all from everyone at our table....it was fantastic. In the end I decided to treat myself to a “kitchen round”. The tip was on top. The entire brigade suddenly stood at the table and thanked him. We had to thank you for this evening... Thanks to the entire team, it was ❤️

I always enjoy going to this trendy restaurant - not because of the scene, but because of the formidable cuisine. Some of the dishes are too daring for my palate, but the rest: simply amazing!!! Plus great wines and friendly, quick service. But: by 7 p.m. at the latest the store is packed and correspondingly loud. Solution: just come earlier, it's open all day long.

Delicious food, they said. I don't know, I have to say. Unfortunately, my last visit there was a complete failure. So not only is tap water offered at a completely overpriced price, but the kitchen has no flexibility. There is a note on the menu that food and drinks are freshly prepared. Therefore, changes to the courts are not possible. The author of the map has probably forgotten that there is a contradiction here. Especially when I prepare everything fresh in the catering industry, I can also make changes. And if, for example, there are mashed potatoes on the menu with and without garlic, I think it would be good if you could also order the version without instead of the mashed potatoes with garlic. But that wasn't possible. It was explained at the table that this was a change in the side dish. You can leave out the garlic mashed potatoes and pay the normal extra. I don't think that's appropriate. I think this needs to be improved. When I wanted to order my fish without a side dish, the waitress refused to place the order like that. That wouldn't taste good. This is not acceptable.

Saturday afternoon, 4:05 p.m., spontaneous decision, 85% of the tables are already occupied and the number is constantly increasing: 6:15 p.m. Queues in front of the door or in the entrance. The service knows and knows how to do this; the work is extremely courteous, quick and friendly. We eat what we remember fondly from Robert's Bistro: Plateau fruits de Mer, ox cheeks, oysters, duck breast, and finally a Jenny, similar to Astrid's before...everything was great, the crab on the plate was so on point that the scissor meat was very easy to trigger. Ox cheeks fell apart, sauce was simply bomb....Thank you for the great hours with you.

I ordered the goose leg, such tender meat that it fell off the bone with just a fork and was covered in a crispy crust. The homemade red cabbage was cooked to perfection and seasoned with spices. The potato dumplings with a crispy topping. The sauce… a dream! Indescribable taste experience. The waitress was very attentive and offered me more sauce. Eating this goose leg was an unforgettable culinary experience.

We were a group of 3 people, with one running 2 minutes late. Upon entering we were asked how many people we were and and when we told them we were 3 but that one was running 2 minutes late…we were told in a very arrogant way to go and sit on the couch and wait for the third person, instead of being showed to our table. I lost all my appetite due to their arrogance. I’m sure I can find a better place where they treat their clients like humans and where they actually appreciate their presence.

I've eaten at Hülsmann very often, at lunchtime with work colleagues or friends, on Saturdays with the family, and then like to eat for an hour longer in the afternoon when the kitchen is open but it's not that full. I ate the first oysters I can consciously remember eating in the bistro in the harbor and discovered my love for French bistro cuisine, a cultural asset. In my opinion, there are few shops in Düsseldorf that manage the balancing act between a casual, sophisticated atmosphere and high-quality cuisine as well as the ones initiated by Hülsmann - and they are also very fairly priced, both for the wine and the food. I rarely or hardly ever rate things, but now I find other reviews here bitter. If you take into account that responsible development takes place in the production of foie gras, The taste is actually unique, a real delicacy, the only criminal thing is that only two pieces of candied apple are served with the terrine. I hope that we will enjoy the brasserie as it is, with its white tablecloths, the changing menu on the simple sheet, the small piece of paper on the butter, the drink at the bar when there is no table available and the friendly staff, will be preserved for a long time.

First of all I would like to say that the food was excellent. It was well seasoned and I also liked the selection of dishes on the menu. There are still a few points that I have to complain about, especially given the high price level. The attempted claim of high standards cannot really penetrate the guest of this restaurant. The menu card was not only carelessly designed - a simple piece of paper - but also a typographical fiasco (the letters were much too small - barely legible). Furthermore, one could criticize the contrast in style between inside and outside. There were actually furniture in three different styles. French on the inside, elegant on the outside and then there was the 'beer table variant' - the ambience was a bit inconsistent, so there wasn't a comfortable feeling. The tables are so close together that private conversations are hardly possible.

Eating for three at the “cat table” 🐈🥹 …… A week ago with my two friends on Friday afternoon at Hülsmann - The friendly service didn't have an easy time with the three of us - we just didn't want to sit down at such a small mini table, even though we were given four different ones to choose from 😅 - “The boss sees us via the camera and unfortunately I’m not allowed to give you a bigger table 🤷♀️…. It has to be mentioned that there was a yawning emptiness in the restaurant and we asked ourselves how one could treat one's guests like that? Does this have anything to do with genuine hospitality, being seated at a table without any need, at most!!! Well suited for two people Would be (and this much should be mentioned, none of us wear plus sizes)! We didn't want to put any more pressure on the lovely waitress and we were hungry, so we navigated around on the cat table with our plates and glasses! Dear Jennifer Hülsmann, I can give you some good advice! You should treat your guests more respectfully and not always use complacent and arrogant criticism. Please be a good hostess to your guest and from now on only seat a maximum (!) of two lovely people at a table of three! And I also want to understand why you need cameras everywhere? Do you think your guests let plates and cutlery go or steal from each other? (Which, of course, can seem quite easy and “inviting” to one or two guests with the tables placed close together) 🫣… From now on I'm looking for a location that doesn't spy on me with cameras and also respects my wish to be able to "develop" at the table with enough space for relaxed eating and drinking! With that in mind - long live freedom 🙋🏼♀️

I was here for dinner for the last time. With 3 people we were seated at a 2-person table. I had to put the additional potato salad I ordered, brought in a bowl, on the bench because there was no space on the table. The restaurant was hardly occupied. The next table, where I put the bowl of potato salad, wasn't occupied either. But we were asked to put the bowl on our table, which was not possible due to space constraints. The waitress, an older lady, simply said, “The boss monitors everything via camera”. How, we are being monitored and so are the employees. That doesn't work at all. I'll check to see if it's legal. I'm actually a very tolerant person by nature and even in the catering industry I don't care. I also rarely write a review because if it was good, I'll go back and if it was bad, then I'll give it away. However, my experience today in the Brasserie Hülsmann left me stunned, which is why I feel compelled to write a few lines. At first it went quite well, we were brought to the table. Three adults with two small children, four and six years old. A waitress took the order, was very nice with the children and showed off her Düsseldorf charm. We only saw them again when it came to paying. In between there was half an hour of waiting for a perfectly normal onion soup as a starter (only one person at the table wanted a starter) and then another 45 minutes of waiting for the main course, which would not have come for a long time if we hadn't intervened. Because they had simply forgotten the note on the table in the kitchen. This certainly wouldn't have happened if the waitress mentioned above had looked after and kept an eye on the table like the other tables in the neighborhood. Elsewhere at the neighboring tables people were diligently refilling their drinks, chatting and making jokes. Maybe the guests were more important and needed a little more attention. The Hülsmann catering industry has to figure this out for itself. The Lugana that was placed in the order had to be politely reminded before being served in a juice glass after 35 minutes of waiting. I think that if you order a glass of wine for ten euros, you can expect a restaurant that takes itself very seriously to serve it appropriately in a wine glass. At least that's how it was observed at the other tables. Unfortunately, the corn-fed poularde we ordered was not served as it was shown on the menu. Instead of the announced bean puree, there was some spinach hidden under the chicken. As I said, five can be okay, but with so much disinterest in his guests (after all, there were four service staff constantly walking around in this area), I have the impression that good, gastronomic craftsmanship no longer counts. The waitress mentioned at the entrance was perhaps having a bad day, but then again she was suddenly there when she was cashing out after a colleague had to ask her to come. I had to rush to the front of the cash register because no one came to the table to collect. I don't think it's that bad that the food wasn't particularly special and was rather mediocre; what's worse is the feeling of not being adequately respected as a guest. At least when paying and expressing criticism, I would have expected a few words of apology. But perhaps people here are too sophisticated for that.

Have visited Brasserie Hülsmann several times. A cosy place at the very core of Belsenplatz, tends to get crowded, especially during peak hours! Menu options are vast. Food is well-prepared and delicious, staff - very attentive and friendly. Ambiance is a bit old school in my taste and looks more like a dining saloon. Still, one gets their privacy despite the numerous seats available. Definitely recommended.

Die Preise hier haben mächtig angezogen. Beispiel: die Vorspeise Brasserie-Specialité von ehemals unter 20.- auf jetzt fast 27.- Aber auch die Präsentation hat sich verändert (ich meine, es ist weniger geworden - weniger Material auf dem Teller). Jenny´s Dessertteller früher €8,90 kostet jetzt das doppelte, allerdings für 2 Personen angedacht. Naja - ist es auch die doppelte Menge? Leckerli vorab: etwas Brot mit salziger Butter (noch kostenlos), früher gab es auch noch immer etwas Rohkost dabei - jetzt leider nicht mehr. Zeiten ändern sich. Haben dann geschlagene 45 Minuten auf die Hauptspeisen warten müssen, obwohl Samstagnachmittag 25.11.23 das Restaurant noch längst nicht voll war. Das Essen kam irgendwann.... und dann leider lauwarm auf den Tisch. Da wir mächtig Hunger hatten, haben wir es nicht reklamiert. Portionsgrösse stimmte, aber geschmacklich hinkt es leider hinter den alten Zeiten hinterher. Die Brasserie hat offenbar ihren Höhepunkt überschritten (Rezensent hat 12 Jahre Brasserie-Hülsmann-Erfahrung). Wir werden uns zukünftig nach Alternativen umschauen, auch weil der vorherige Besuch mit 3 Personen und jeweils 3 Gängen schon nicht mehr den früheren Standards in Geschmack und Preis-Leistung entsprach. // Liebe Jenny, hier meine Antwort auf Dein Statement: wir hatten nicht die Brasserie-Specialité bestellt. Das war nur ein Beispiel, wie sich nicht nur der Preis, sondern insbesondere auch das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis negativ verschoben hat. Bestellt hatten wir Leberknödel mit Kartoffelpürree / Sauerkraut und den Grünkohl mit hausgemachter Mettwurst (waren total trocken von innen!!), siehe dieser Rezension beiliegende Bilder. Und diese beiden Speisen wären dampfend zu servieren gewesen, kamen aber nur lauwarm auf den Tisch. Und wer ich bin? Ein zahlender Kunde!! Ich brauche kein Gourmet-Experte zu sein, um Essen zu beurteilen. Da reicht eine normale, gesunde Wahrnehmung und natürlich Erfahrungswerte aus früheren Brasserie-Besuchen. Und als solcher schreibe ich hier auch meine Bewertungen! Dass die Brasserie Ihren Höhepunkt überschritten hat, schreiben auch andere. Aber natürlich wird es Euch noch viele Jahre geben. Kommen ja immer wieder neue Gäste - auch zum ersten Mal, die dann ja das, was jetzt ist, für den Standard halten. Ältere Gäste kennen noch den alten Standard (zu Robert´s Zeiten oder auch die Jahre danach). Ich finde auch, dass man immer nur auf einer Hochzeit gut tanzen kann. Ich denke Du weisst, was ich damit meine. 😉 Und Übrigens meine Begleitung war eine Köchin mit über 30 Jahren Gastro-Erfahrung und wir waren uns beide einig, was das Essen - an dem besagten Tag - bei Euch angeht. Also wenn Du mir die Kompetenz absprichst - ok - , aber bei Claudia (u.a. 20 Jahre Ohme Jupp bei Brigit), fährt Dein Argument gegen die Wand. LG Volker H. Richter

An sich ein schöner Ort um leckeres Essen zu genießen. Die Portionen sind, je nachdem was man hat, nicht riesig, dafür ist das Restaurant aber glaube ich auch nicht gedacht. Die Atmosphäre ist eher "posh". Wenn man nicht früh genug kommt, wartet man gerne mal mindestens eine halbe Stunde bis man endlich einen Tisch bekommt. Man wird auch erst platziert, wenn alle der Gruppe eingetroffen sind. Daher haben wir (ohne vom desinteressierten Barkeeper-Duo) bedient zu werden, anfangs an der Bar gewartet bis wir uns dann doch für eine Vorspeise setzen durften. Es ist sehr laut, daher sollten die, die ein Problem mit Lautstärke haben, sich dessen bewusst sein. Was ich nicht so toll fand, waren die dreckigen und in die Jahre gekommenen Toiletten. Ich finde, wenn man so viel auf sich hält, wie die Brasserie es offensichtlich tut, dann ist ein sauberes Klo erwartbar. Insgesamt hat man gemerkt, dass man in der Düsseldorfer Schickeria sitzt ;D. Das ist nicht grundlegend etwas Schlechtes, aber herzlich-bodenständig eben auch nicht.

Alles Top! Der Service ist wunderbar, die Mitarbeiter so angenehm und freundlich, haben ihre Augen überall, einfach großartig! In die Küche kann man schauen und dort werden all die Köstlichkeiten gezaubert, und hier kann man von Zaubern sprechen, denn geschmacklich unglaublich gut! Und das Ambiente erinnert mich an Frankreich. Ebenfalls geschmackvoll! ABER!: Muss man Gänsestopfleber anbieten? Wenn man gesehen hat, wie Tiere gequält werden, um diese herzustellen, da vergeht einem der Appetit. Haltung diesbezüglich fände ich gut.

Wir kamen auf Empfehlung am Samstag um 19 Uhr vor Ort an und uns erwartete draussen eine ordentliche Warteschlange gut gelaunter Gäste. Wir schlossen uns zu dritt an und es ging zügig vorwärts. Nach gut 30 Minuten sassen wir an der Bar und wurden aufs Beste versorgt. Man fragte uns nach kurzer Zeit, ob wir an einem kleinen Tisch zu dritt auf Eck sitzen wollten, aber wir warteten auf eine größeren Tisch. Stets bemühte man sich unaufdringlich um unser Wohlergehen. Dies steigerte sich nach Platznehmen an einem tollen Hochtisch nach der Bar, als wir Angelika als unsere Bedienung bekamen. Klasse Wein- und Speisenempfehlungen, lockere sehr angenehme Unterhaltung, es war alles Bestens. Und ja, man braucht Zeit, aber wo kann man sie besser geniessen als in einer solchen Atmosphäre! Wir haben ein tolles Essen nebst einer sehr authentischen Umgebung (typisch Frankreich) genossen.....sehr gerne wieder! und an Angelika persönlich: das war so klasse mit dir! Bitte bleib wie du bist!

The Food was not actually what I expected at Hülsmann Brasserie however I did manage with a Salad and a fantastic Goat Cheese anyway.. The Service was fair enough and the Staff were Quite helpful. The entire atmosphere was very entertaining even without background music and whatever.. The Customers were very very Friendly and somehow, the best place to go in Duesseldorf-Oberkassel, for a delicious salad. By the way, t'was one of my Friends, "a great Fan of Brasserie Hülsmann", who once had some very tasty Sea bream fish in the Restaurant and thereon told me to order the same if i would one Day happen to get there, which i actually did, however the Staff told me their entire school of Sea bream fish has sold out... As a Non-Meat eater, my only Alternative was to grab the Spinach Salad with some Goat Cheese which infact tasted Excellent!

Das Beste in Oberkassel! Top-Niveau und Qualität seit vielen Jahren. Der Service nett, jedoch nicht aufdringlich. Die Speisenkarte vielseitig und anspruchsvoll, eine sehr gute Weinauswahl. Man kann zwar nicht reservieren, doch die Platzvergabe funktioniert nach einer kurzen Wartezeit einwandfrei. Wir hatten einen Tisch nahe der Theke bekommen - dort kann es wegen der wartenden Gäste etwas eng werden, hat aber auch seinen Charme.

Absolut empfehlenswert. Sehr tolles und außergewöhnlich gutes Essen. Die Speisekarte sollte für jeden etwas bieten können und beinhaltet Gerichte, die man ganz sicher nicht in vielen anderen Restaurants findet. Die Qualität ist ausgezeichnet und die Speisen auf den Punkt zubereitet. Dazu gibt es eine gute Auswahl an Weinen. Super nettes Personal. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön und auf seine Weise einzigartig. Wer es eher ruhiger mag, den könnte die insgesamt doch recht hohe Lautstärke vor Ort stören. Gehört für uns aber zu einer Brasserie dazu. Nochmal, absolut empfehlenswert.

Super netter Service. Hier könnt ihr nicht reservieren, also rechnet mit einer Wartezeit um herein zukommen. Das Essen ist von sehr guter Qualität, frisch und äußerst leckere. Gut Bürgerliche-/Französischeküche. Preisleistungsverhältnis ist für die gute Qualität gerechtfertigt (etwas hochpreisiger). Sehr zu empfehlen.

Exzellentes Essen in schöner Atmosphäre. Einziges Manko: die Lautstärke. Gleich beim Warten auf einen Platz (etwa 10 Minuten) bekam man von allen Seiten gute Laune. Freundliche Gäste, die ebenfalls auf einen Platz warten, gut gelaunte Gäste die die Brasserie verlassen und sich mit einem freuen, dass nun neue Plätze frei sind und super freundliches Personal. Wir haben uns noch nie so gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Vielen Dank Nina! Einzig allein die recht einfachen Ballongläser haben dem Wein keinen Gefallen getan.

Potential für fünf Sterne - im Normalfall aber sicher vier. _______________________________ P.S.: Der Inhaber hätte als Antwort auf diese Rezension auch gerne fragen können, wann wir da waren oder vielleicht auf die Verbesserungsvorschläge eingehen können. Als Antwort ein "viele Fragen" mit einem Smiley, der sich kaputt lacht, deutet jedoch auf genau den in der Rezension genannten unsouveränen Umgang mit der Situation hin. Daher leider noch mal einen Stern Abzug, den der Service definitiv nicht verdient hat. _______________________________ Bei uns gibt es nur drei Sterne, weil der Spinat versalzen war. Bei uns am Tisch, was das eine 100% Meldung. Die sehr nette Kellnerin hat unseren Hinweis aufgenommen und man habe in der Küche den Spinat probiert und könne unsere Kritik allerdings nicht bestätigen. Dass man sich überhaupt mit unseren Hinweis auseinander gesetzt hat, fand ich schon gut - nur die Art und Weise war dann doch etwas unsouverän. Entweder hätte ich mir gewünscht an der Verkostung auch teilnehmen zu können, oder sie hätten uns zwei der drei Flaschen Wasser spendieren können, die wir nachordern mussten - weil der Spinat versalzen war. Das Ambiente ist klasse! Nicht gemütlich wie in einem Restaurant, aber auch nicht so wie in einer Bahnhofshalle. Und für Raumgröße und angesagtes Konzept "Brasserie" war es wirklich gut. Das Ambiente ist hell, sehr freundlich und geschäftig. Die Bedienungen immer schnell, aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Wir waren wirklich toll aufgehoben! Das Essen ist in Sachen Zutaten und Präsentation gut bis sehr gut. Allerdings dennoch etwas hochpreisig, denn wie gesagt, der Spinat war wirklich weit drüber und auch mein Tunfisch (Sachimi Qualität) war grenzwertig gesalzen. D.h. auf der anderen Seite gingen feine Aromen völlig unter, falls sie vorhanden waren. Schade eigentlich, dass sich drei von vier Gerichten sich diese Schwäche mit dem Spinat geleistet haben. Die Liste an guten und sehr guten Restaurants in Düsseldorf ist lang, aber vermutlich werden wir noch mal irgendwann vorbei schauen, denn die wirklich netten Leute haben wirklich eine zweite Chance verdient!

Situado en el borde del mercado de carlsplatz esta es una experiencia que no debe perderse. La fila que sale de la puerta debería haber sido mi primera pista. El personal es amable y eficiente, el café excepcional pero la estrella del espectáculo es la pastelería. Simplemente uno de los mejores que jamás comerás en tu vida. Mis favoritos personales fueron el croissant de limón y el croissant de tarta de queso de Nueva York. Si estás en Düsseldorf no te pierdas este lugar.

Nice little cool restaurant, rustic on the outside and modern and rustic on the inside. Meat is definitely solid German home cooking and the portions are filling. I'm really super surprised 🍀. Before I thought it was just a bar.

Service is very quick, they are kind and patient. Chose the Aloha dish because i fancy mango with salmon, mango wasnt there anymore and in request i got extra salmon. The rice was very warm and mushy soft like porridge, teriyaki sauce ruined it even more. Just soy/kikkoman sauce would be better but wasnt offered. Did not finish it, 3 bites plus the avocado but the rest was a waste.
