Super nice, delicious, nice staff!!

Service was very friendly and quick. The food (Alte Liebe Burger) was very tasty and more than sufficient. There were also delicious offerings on the asparagus menu. The atmosphere is of course brilliant, especially since the weather cooperated.

We had the best evening. 6 people with 6 different dishes (Spätzle, Kotlett, chicken breast, schnitzel, vegan schnitzel [weekly menu], aubergine dish [weekly menu], plus Kaiserschmarrn and vanilla ice cream for dessert) and everyone was thrilled. All the dishes were super good and so beautifully and appetizingly prepared that we often wanted to try them at each other's houses. Friendly service too. Absolute recommendation! ❤️

It's nice to sit on a ship, on the Rhine, in the sunshine and eat and drink something delicious. And if you catch a smart waitress... well then it's fine and you can enjoy a chill time...

Took a short break here on our bike tour and had something to eat. Starter Tzaziki Mega better than at some Greek restaurants. Main course herring with rosemary potatoes and salad. Large portion and delicious 😋 Can only recommend 👍

We were there for the first time. Overall impression - you can go there, it's okay, but nothing special. Everyone ordered different fish and it was delicious, but the chef had to find a better recipe for Rösti. They were very soft and bitter. Sorry. Beetroot salad has also been a modesty. Just a beetroot with some sheep's cheese on top. A tip for the cook - soak in a dressing for an hour or two beforehand for better taste. Thanks anyway for your effort

You can also celebrate your private party here. But the boat is also well attended otherwise.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city with a nice atmosphere, delicious food and extremely friendly service. There are always changing weekly menus here and the view never gets boring. Young and old meet here. Definitely worth a visit and highly recommended.

Very interesting location. Just something different. Not exactly cheap, but very high quality food and really tasty. Example 250g steak with fries €30. Highly recommended: mushrooms and shrimp.

We had champion cream schnitzel... I thought I didn't put enough sauce on the schnitzel, otherwise it was good.

The place to feel good and free

The old love belongs to Rodenkirchen like the Rodenkirchen Bridge. We've been there twice in the last 3 weeks - once we sat outside in the afternoon and once inside in the evening. The food is inexpensive and of good quality. I knew “Hamburger alte Liebe” by name from a post on social networks that aroused my curiosity. And yes: you can get it medium or well done and not completely round...so the meat is fresh. Waiting time? No - it went quickly. The burger was served on long, narrow wooden plates (see photo) - which suits the rustic ambience - but I don't like it because you end up making a mess. Worth mentioning: reserve a table on weekend evenings. We really liked it…clear recommendation. I would attribute the “old love” to the original Cologne pub culture. Lots of heart, patina and few frills.

Cozy guest room in an older red and white painted boathouse on the towpath along the Rodenkirchen bank of the Rhine. On the Rhine side, a view of the river on which the ships sail quite close and impressively past the boathouse. Under the suspension bridge you can see the Cologne skyline at a distance of 5-6 km. Rhineland cuisine is appropriately served on hearty wooden boards. But there is also a larger selection of other dishes. In warm weather you can sit on the outside deck. It's not very big and reservations are recommended during peak times. There are two more boathouses upstream. You can avoid it there if necessary.

Did a day of hiking from Cologne to Rodenkirchen. Taking a break from old love It was great, great weather, everything was just right. :)

We had a very nice evening here with very tasty food, where special requests were also taken into account. The food didn't take long to arrive, it was rich, fresh and extremely tasty. The service is very friendly, courteous and quick in serving the drinks. They always keep an eye on the guests and ask questions. Great service that can also be funny. We like coming here, feel very comfortable and like the variety of the menu. We're already looking forward to the next time

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The starters were still delicious. Instead of a Viennese-style schnitzel, we got breaded, fried thick pork schnitzels, some of which were still pink. By a Wiener-style schnitzel I mean a flattened, thin, breaded and deep-fried schnitzel... Unfortunately, the side dishes (fries, fried potatoes and egg) were all too salty. The potato gratin, which was layered with surgical precision, probably came straight out of the packaging, but unfortunately it didn't taste good either. The cola tasted watery and had hardly any carbonation. We found the wooden plates from which we eat unhygienic. In any case, there were still the remains or greasy impressions of the dish from the last guest... We were still freezing even though we were sitting inside. In any case, there was no reaction from the waiters to guests sitting in jackets and the comment “It's pretty cold here”. Ultimately, another guest turned on the heater himself. Given the actually good reviews here, we had hoped for more.

…. I celebrated my birthday there in the “Tenne”. The “Alte Liebe” offers a great buffet in a great atmosphere, and with great employees who accompanied us all day. Thanks for that. I can only recommend it!

Wir waren in diesem Sommer häufig mit Freunden und Freundinnen auf der Alten Liebe und wir freuen uns, dass es wieder sehr freundliches und fixes Servicepersonal gibt. Das Essen ist nett präsentiert auf Holzbrettern. Es gibt immer eine Wochenkarte zusätzlich zur Speisekarte. Für diese exponierte Lage sind die Preise ok. Für jeden Geldbeutel was dabei. (Wobei ein Weizenbier für 5.60€ schon sportlich ist;-) Der Segelsonnenschutz draussen ist prima. Innen ist es schön renoviert worden vor der Eröffnung im November 2023. Unser Lieblings-Restaurantschiff in Rodenkirchen.

Again friendly staff, food was ok, the “potato pancakes with apple sauce” were too black and not even “gold brown and a little bit crispy”, thought they do it the boat style (?), it's no choice for me next time , and will look for something different! my company had a burger, no complaining here! Service was very busy and why confusing them more and complaining? also we had different waiters at the table, and we were little confused later who earned the tip ... or do they split? after asking, the girl got some extra. The Restaurant ship is a great location for different occasions and groups, it’s nice watching boats go by… or using the outside deck for a cocktail. seems to be a year round busy place! enjoy your visit german: We were invited to a birthday party at “Alte Liebe” and after enjoying this special day, we went back for dinner the next day. We decided to visit spontaneously and I have to say, we were lucky. The outside seats were completely occupied and a lot of the inside was reserved. But...no one will forget...the food came quickly and is served on a plank, interesting. The service staff were friendly and very attentive. Next time we will reserve in advance...

Just a beautiful place and really absolutely amazing food. I would really like the service to help a little more by allowing reservations outside. Otherwise great!

The great location on the Rhine, food is generally good and fairly priced. Only the service could be a little more on point - at least at lunchtime during the week. Nevertheless, the old love is recommended, I will come back.

Wir kamen mit einem Verzehrgutschein den wir beim Bestellvorgang vorgezeigt haben. Das Essen war Biergarten mäßig ok. Am Ende des Abends wollten wir bezahlen und der Gutschein wurde nicht akzeptiert.als wir uns beider Kellnerin beschwert hatten , kam ein eine dunkelhaarige Oberkellner in die sofort auf Eskalation ging und uns die Polizei androhte. Als wir sie nach ihrem Namen fragten, verweigerte sie die Auskunft, ein schöner Abend wurde zur Hölle. Solch ein Personal ist mir noch nie begegnet. Fazit die Stimmung ist gut aber Gutscheine könnt ihr vergessen

Unfortunately there is no parking in the immediate vicinity. Small walk to the ship. Great ambience, great service. I ate spare ribs which tasted fantastic.

The restaurant is on the Rhine, which is particularly nice in summer when you eat on the terrace. The portions are large (the people are huge), we were offered if we wanted it wrapped. Great service, great view. The price/performance ratio was great. Would come again.

The food was super delicious!!! But unfortunately the service is not that good. Have to ask if we can order food because no one came. The food was at the table quickly...but no one asked if it was tasty or if we wanted a second drink. We also had to take care of the cutlery, salt and pepper ourselves. And I had to go in to pay because no one came. It's a shame but praise for the kitchen

We celebrated life on the boat in the large room with 70 people. I can only report good things, as Lisa's support was excellent, competent and always available. The room has a great ambience and we were allowed to decorate ourselves. The service in the evening was really great, everyone was super nice and hardworking. Kölsch was delicious and the billing/prices were fair. I can only recommend!!!!!

It's often a bit overcrowded at the weekend, unfortunately there are often too few staff, which makes them overwhelmed, but they do a good, friendly job. The kitchen does a very solid, good, if unspectacular, job in keeping with the menu.

We were in the “new” old love on Sunday, July 7th, 2024. As we found out, the "Alte Liebe" is now run by the next, younger generation and we were really so impressed that we decided to celebrate my birthday there in 2 weeks. Apart from the best ambience in Cologne, we were pleasantly surprised by the varied menu, which has something for every taste and hunger and at fair prices. The quality and taste are more than satisfactory and the dishes are beautifully presented on boards. We had the cream schnitzel with mushrooms, the chicken curry and then the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and cream. Real insider tip! ,-) We were particularly surprised by the extremely friendly service. Our waitress ran and had her hands full all the time with the terrace full. BUT: She was never stressed or unfriendly, always had a casual saying on her lips, joked with us and you could tell that she liked working in the "Alte Liebe" and that the mood in the team was obviously good. As I said: We'll be back in 2 weeks. :-)

We were at Alte Liebe twice in total. The first time was at a company party, the second time just after a long hike. Both times were actually really good, although the service was a bit slow on the private visit. But it was definitely due to the enormous number of guests on the houseboat. The food was really tasty and plentiful both times. Come again!!

A visit to Alte Liebe is recommended at any time of the year. When the weather is warm you can sit comfortably outside in the sun, but when the weather is bad there are enough seats inside. No matter whether you just want to drink something, have a snack or order something larger, you are always welcome here. Service is always good and quick and courteous even when everything is full. Sufficient drinks and food to choose from, whether small things or something more, whether hot or cold drinks. Great quality at fair prices. We always enjoy coming here, thank you very much!

The Alte Liebe is a lovely restaurant on a boat that is visited by locals and tourists both. I've been there a few times and always had a pleasant experience. The biggest upside is the excellent atmosphere and beautiful experience of being on a boat on the rhine river. I was there for a company Christmas party and we had a fantastic time. The only downside was the buffet and its complete absence of any seasoning. Besides that we had a great party. We came back for a quick bite just recently and also had a good time. My partner had the vegan burger, which was decent, and I had the piri piri chicken, which was excellent. Don't let the name misguide you though: There was no spice on it. None. Zero. As a German I know that some of us think the taste of milk is a bit wild. But even by German standards it sets a new low on the 'Not-hot-at-all'-table. But as I said: It was still excellent. The meat was juicy, the fries crunchy and even the salad was tasty. The service was very slow, even though there were more people working there than patrons sitting at the tables, but we didn't mind the wait. So I think we'll be back to the Alte Liebe again. I do think (weak) 5 stars are still justified, but I really hope they'd step up their game a bit.

We celebrated our wedding at Alte Liebe three weeks ago. It was a wonderful day for us and our guests! The service staff were great and made things very easy for us. The guests gave nothing but great feedback. Everyone also loved the food. The preliminary discussions with Lisa from Alte Liebe were uncomplicated and very helpful. We had 100 guests on the boat. That was exactly right for us. People got into good contact with each other and danced. The terrace with a view of Cologne's old town is priceless. We were also lucky and had a great sunset. The guests were so enthusiastic that they spoke of “a day’s vacation” and felt very comfortable. Us too! Many thanks to Lisa and the team. We will keep our wedding anniversary in your hearts and in great memories!
