Blauths - Streetfood & Meer in Cuxhaven

The fish dishes are good and can really be recommended. Unfortunately, the already limited service there was further dismantled this year. Now, as a customer, I have to put my banknotes into a machine where the change is then ejected at the bottom. The whole thing is justified, among other things, for hygiene reasons. For me it's just a further reduction in service there. In addition, this machine is far too high for older and smaller people. What will happen in 2026? As a paying guest, will I have to get my own food from the kitchen or even fry my fish myself?

Fish sandwich ok. Nothing special, except what is special is the price if you choose tartar sauce or aioli with the fish roll, which costs 1€ (!!!) extra. This blob is way too expensive/excessive and should e.g. B. be included in the fish roll price.

Give it another chance and test it but it just remains bad. Service is not in the mood, fries are almost raw. More appearance than reality.

No thanks! Self-service! The prices are ridiculous for what's on offer. For example, fish & chips for €12.90, for which you have to wait 25 minutes in March 2025, with less than 50 percent table occupancy. Tables covered in crumbs, some not cleared. Cutlery and napkins only available upon repeated request. Ready meals are called out and taken away by other guests who ordered later. Chaotic conditions in the off-season. It makes you wonder what to expect there in the summer. Duhnen isn't necessarily more expensive than other places on the North Sea. It's just that a few restaurants are overdoing it, and this one is unfortunately one of them.

Food is good, ambience is nice too, only the fries were too salty for me. It's a shame there were no fried potatoes. We'd love to come back.

In my opinion, the food wasn't that tasty. In my opinion, the size of the portions were more generous elsewhere. Since I didn't like it anyway, it was all the better that the portions were small😉. Like I said, that's just my feeling. I had to pay extra for the tartar sauce. This was included with other providers.

The burgers are really good and the sweet potato fries are really well fried. Price-performance for the food is okay and the coastal surcharge is normal for the drinks.

Ambience was super good. & cozy. The food was very tasty and the lady was super nice! Unfortunately, what we really have to complain about is the cocktail. It comes out of the can (in the store for 2.99) and is then sold there for 7.90. Totally bare with no decoration! Very painful for 2 bartenders!

I should have read the reviews before visiting. From the outside you think it's nice to sit here and eat your fish sandwich. Inside it's a better food stall, not overly clean, the staff could hide their listlessness a little more. The rolls in which the fish is served are cheap baked rolls from the discounter, if only they had been crispy...why not offer crispy rolls from the bakery across the street, then the fish roll would at least be upgraded a little. The price-performance ratio is not right here at all, the fried fish portion is a joke for the price. To eat really delicious fish sandwiches with crispy mussel-shaped rolls, it's better to go a few steps further to the village square, unfortunately they were closed from January 3rd. Winter break, hence the test here, but that must have been an absolute exception, once and never again, then I would rather forego the last fish sandwich on vacation.

With the rush in the New Year, the staff is of course overwhelmed, even in a self-service restaurant with only 2 people. The shelves for dishes and empties were overflowing and the cleanliness of the tables left a lot to be desired. Fish rolls with fried fish i. O. but without taste, no possibility to add salt. The mulled wine was 'overcooked' and also charged for 'with shot', even though it was ordered and served 'without'. So no recommendation😐

We only ordered drinks...the glasses were "soiled"....plus the mulled wine wasn't worth 4.50...totally lackluster service...the counter was empty, but totally dirty... ..

Here you can take a long break, have a cold drink and eat something.

It couldn't be worse, a long wait at the checkout, further waiting until the food can be picked up and then the sea bag, bad. Only breading, hardly any fish but a huge amount of remulade. That's it for 11.90

The fish was good and the fries were tasty. Nice atmosphere but a bit cold in winter.

If you have diarrhea you should eat fried fish here.

Always our go-to place for fish rolls!

Good morning, We went to Blauths again today. We ordered a baked fish roll for €6.50 and a chilli cheeseburger with mayo fries for €16.40. The preparation took quite a long time. The fried fish roll was much smaller than usual and it looked like a cheap baked roll with frozen discount fish, which was also extremely greasy and the breading tasted burnt. When it comes to the chili cheeseburger, the extremely small amount of fries for €4 is an absolute disgrace. The burger patty was completely tasteless, dead fried, dry and only lukewarm, so that not even the cheese was melted. In addition, the salad garnish appeared to have come straight from the refrigerator. I think it was the cucumber slices that were pickled quite strangely and didn't taste like the rest at all. The burger sauce looked good visually, but was pretty tasteless. The only flavor kick came from the few jalapeno slices. Unfortunately, I have to say that the tastiest thing about the whole meal was the mayonnaise. We will eat somewhere else in the future when we are in Duhnen again.

We were there today at 1:15 p.m. and wanted 2* fried fish and the homemade meatball to take away. They said it would take 5-8 minutes. After ordering, we waited 45 minutes when I asked politely. Where the things I had already paid for were left, I would be confronted by the employee, which would still take some time. When I then said that I had been waiting for 45 minutes, the counter was simply closed. After another 10 minutes, the fried fish and the fish cakes arrived, unfortunately without the remoulade that I had ordered and paid for, which I saw at home. The fish cakes were also charred and the fried fish had no taste. The people who ordered after us got their money back and left hungry. I have never had such unfriendly service Experienced, service is a foreign word here. Sorry, but that doesn't work at all! Here even one star is too many!

We have been here many times. But such bad staff, only one woman who did everything. Wrong dishes served. My squid fritto was burnt; it was the worst I've ever had. Fresh bread was good. Ambiance 4 stars

Ordering your food at 1:55 p.m. and still not getting any food at 2:30 p.m. is more than bad - we weren't the ones who moved in today because that happened.

Ambience nice for a better snack. But the food was nothing. Unfortunately, the vegan potato waffles themselves don't taste like anything, the pesto was missing, but there was a lot of salsa on it - too much. The vegan burger was dry and lacked the paprika relish. The no meat patty is more of a potato pancake.

We went on vacation to Cuxhaven in September. From the outside, the restaurant in Duhnen looked inviting and not too upscale. Not only did I have to order and pick up the food myself at the counter, I also had to look for the cutlery at the tables myself. The food was a complete disaster. The fried fish had been fried in an unseasoned flour paste, filled with fish leftovers that were also unseasoned. The fries were very over-seasoned and totally over-salted. The arrangement of the food on the plate was careless, there wasn't even a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, let alone a piece of lemon. Of course we also had to go to the counter and pay the completely overpriced price for this bad food. And to make matters worse, my mother, totally hungry, went to the bakery opposite to get a sandwich, but unfortunately she developed intestinal problems and had to use the toilet. Things got even worse for me. On the way to the holiday apartment on foot I developed intestinal problems and had to relieve myself in a bush, willy-nilly. Absolutely not recommended. Shame about the money. It is completely clear to us that our opinion will not hurt you because you do not value regular customers but apparently only rely on day tourists

(Boss) behind the deep fryer snaps at the service staff in front of the guests. A no-go! Crab rolls were good 👍 everything that was fried was dripping with fat. The man behind the deep fryer is overworked and should think about changing jobs. Addendum: I had stomach pain and diarrhea overnight. Thanks for that 👍 I will never enter this store again

A year ago we were there every day and got the fried fish in a roll. It was really tasty, the fish looked big on both sides of the roll. It was hard to find anything comparable. This year, in the summer and these days too. What we got there was ridiculous. The fish disappeared under a pile of tartar sauce in the bun. That was just a little "baked fish", but charging €7.50 for it is awesome. Not recommended anymore, unfortunately.

Bad chip shop with restaurant prices and unfriendly service that has no idea. Never again

Nice fish snack bar with covered and heated seating. The fish dishes are simple but rich. The fish sandwiches are well topped and very tasty.

Bought 2 fried fish rolls to take away today. When we arrived in the motorhome we wanted to eat before our journey home. The rolls are almost still white and the breading of the fried fish is not done either. Way too much tartar sauce and just plain limp. And then wait another 15 minutes. What was also noticeable was the lack of cleanliness. Totally dusty glass counter. Not again for 7.50 each.

Be prepared for long waiting times

Best crab roll ever! The fish was fresh, there was always a place available for us and both the hot and cold food was very delicious!

The ambience seemed quite good at first glance. We sat outside. The table was dirty and you essentially ate between the squishy fries from the previous guests. You had to collect the cutlery from different tables. Here I had to sort out four knives until I had one that was reasonably clean. Napkins were not available for all of us. There were still leftover food from the previous person on the beer glass. I'm not usually very sensitive, but this certainly wasn't okay. You had to order at the order counter. You had to wait a long time here because there was no staff there. Some of the cards weren't there (e.g. the Kiddie Box). The waiting time for the food was also quite long. What should be mentioned positively, however, is that the food was ultimately freshly prepared and very tasty. All in all, I give it a total of three stars and only a conditional recommendation.

So the ambience is nice but unfortunately that's it... We ordered the squid... could have been fried bicycle tire... it didn't taste like anything and the tastiest thing was actually the water... It's a shame 🤷🏽‍♀️ Absolutely overpriced for such an experience.

Yeah, it's okay. I would say "takeaway at restaurant prices" describes it best. I wouldn't describe the store as dirty, but I did notice the light layer of dust on the counter. Both the baked potatoes and the portion of fish & chips were around €13. I also found it a bit unpleasant that customers in front of me were told almost 2 hours before closing time that they could no longer offer currywurst (no more sauce in the house) without mentioning any alternative. What struck me positively was that the ToGo containers are made of cardboard instead of Styrofoam and have a removable lid. All in all, the preparation was quick (from paying to leaving in less than 15 minutes) and the food was tasty. So you can't do anything wrong here, but it's not a highlight either.

Very tasty food (and large portions), lots of choice, nice service staff and a beautiful outdoor terrace. We enjoyed eating here several times during our stay. :-)

Service was unfriendly twice...Food was swapped despite the pager (9+6), it could happen, they said...Positive, the beer is full to the top.

We were there some time ago and were actually quite satisfied back then. So this time we got something to take away. This time the satisfaction was not quite as high. We had a currywurst with a roll and a fried fish roll. All in all for just under €15, so not exactly cheap. The currywurst was a type of bockwurst, it had something of the Curry King flavor to it. You have to take credit for the fact that there was no mention of a bratwurst anywhere. The roll (see picture) was only half, which was a bit unsatisfactory. The fried fish was delicious so far. Overall, with the currywurst, the roll and the price, it was just an average story that didn't inspire us to come back.

Very nice atmosphere, great food. Very friendly staff. Very good portions, not too much and not too little. Really great and only recommended.

So for 45 euros including a soft drink each, I'm more than disappointed. Fries and especially the fish in the children's box were fried to death and the burgers weren't a hit either. The pulled pork burger had completely dry meat and a sauce simply poured on top. So street food is definitely something different. The ambience was the only thing that deserved 4 stars. Too bad. The worst meal we have had in Duhnen so far.

Beautiful sunset. Good drinks. Potato waffles are a great idea - unfortunately the dough was unsalted and had no other spices. There was no taste. The tomato and mozzarella topping came straight from the fridge and therefore had no flavor. Too bad!

Unfortunately a failure. Food really far below the limit. Fried potatoes are very mediocre, there is a standard sauce for all meals, regardless of whether it is fried fish or marinated herrings. But the worst thing is the potato salad, simply inedible. It's a shame and that considering the prices.

Great food, would love to come back

Shame that smoking is allowed in the outside area.€12. 90 for fish and chips 8 pieces of frozen kibbling and chips, no salad for a garnish, with a piece of lettuce tomato, cucumber would make it more appealing.

The sea bag is highly recommended, quick and uncomplicated, keep it up

We ordered fish & chips for €12.90. We were sick for hours afterwards! The fries were ok but the fish! These were 7 gray-brown dumplings that looked and tasted ancient. They were watery inside and any fish stick would have been ten times better than these thawed breaded dumplings. There was also a dollop of tartar sauce. No lettuce leaf, no tomato slice or anything like that - nothing. I hope that this criticism leads to improvements.

We had dinner there yesterday on August 24th with four people. Three people were not feeling well (vomiting and diarrhea). Food not recommended. Everyone would rather go to eat in Sahlenburg at the SAME RESTAURANT, much better and RECOMMENDED. Neighboring table were regular customers who complained on site.

Was only there for breakfast. Friendly and great service. Breakfast very good.

This is self-service. The food was very good and tasty, the portions were large. The atmosphere is cozy, but it might be too cold in the rain and cooler temperatures. The service when ordering was friendly and flexible with requests for changes. If the weather holds, we will come back.

I agree with Ms. Bartsch's assessment. I am so disappointed with the fried fish that was fried for far too long and was just dry inside. I was so happy to get delicious fried fish here again - we often went to Blauths on vacation 2 years ago because of the delicious fried fish - and this time I was so disappointed. Unfortunately it's not worth the money. Unfortunately not a second time on this vacation. A pity.

The vegan burger tasted boring. But that could also have been because some ingredients were missing from the menu and a lot of other ingredients were saved. The staff was nice, but didn't seem to fully understand what I meant when I had a question. According to someone I know, the Chilli Cheese Burger was okay. For 12 euros a burger, I think you can expect a little more, even in a tourist area. Still, it's nice that vegan burgers are offered.

We were so disappointed when we ate our obligatory fried fish rolls 🙁🙁🙁We have been on vacation in Cuxhaven for about 5 years and always got the fried fish rolls there and enjoyed them!!!! This time, the roll was NOT baked properly/finished and the fish was baked/fried way too CROSSY, the inside of the fish was so DRY/HARD🙁🙁🙁 Then pay an EXTRA €1 for the remoulade 🙁🙁🙁 We won't get fried fish rolls THERE anymore!!!!! We enjoyed going to Blauths... We got fried fish rolls somewhere else and DID NOT pay extra for remoulade there and the fried fish roll WAS so DELICIOUS 😋😋😋😋😋

Unfortunately disappointing, also for the child. Initially we went to an externally appealing location. Price and self-service differ, and the culinary service provided is in the lower segment. You have so much potential, why isn't it being used? If the dough around the fried fish is dripping with fat and the inside has already lost almost all of its moisture, something is wrong with the preparation. Even my relatively undemanding offspring hardly ate anything from their children's box. You will get another chance in the next quarter, until then please reconsider your quality.

Unfortunately the fish sandwiches didn't convince us. We had a crab roll, herring roll and fried herring. First of all, these are cheap baked or industrial rolls. We didn't like these at all. The crabs just tasted watery and the amount of fried herring was a joke. The crab roll was missing both butter and sauce. The matjes was okay, but not a hit either. We definitely won't come here again. Unfortunately the quality wasn't right for the price.

Nice ambience but below average food. Frito Misto are fried for too long, the fish plate is bland and not very tasty. There aren't even a handful of fries in the children's menu. Collecting and clearing up is left to the guest. The plate drop-off is totally messy, even though the employees have nothing to do. We'd rather eat somewhere else for the money.

Self-service applies here. You go to the counter, order drinks and food, take the drinks with you and sit down. When the food is ready, the thing on the table rings (I have no idea what they call it). You go to the counter and get your food. Cutlery is already on the tables. They have a wide variety of food. We had to wait a bit for our food as everything is freshly prepared. It's nice to wait😉 It was super tasty and not as expensive as some others here. Since we were here for the European Championships, you could also watch the games live inside. It's very small inside but the fully covered outdoor area with windows on the sides is large and very comfortable. The ambience is great and everything is coordinated with a lot of attention to detail. The staff is very nice and open-minded. All I can say is that you should eat here.

Vegan burger and vegan potato waffle are very tasty, the latter is reminiscent of hearty potato pancakes. The mostly listless-looking thing Staff were overwhelmed with our order - a main course and the price of the fries were wrong, which fortunately we noticed on the receipt before preparation began. We got the money refunded without any problem. The interior of the restaurant looked like a normal restaurant, but you had to place your order at the counter, pay in advance and then pick it up yourself. However, this was not communicated; the information was available upon request.

Ate here three times within five days - received friendly service and food three times. Fried fish and herring in a roll are super delicious. Prices completely okay. Definitely come back on your next Cuxhaven vacation!

We have now eaten at Blauths three times. The price-performance ratio is right. The food was always very tasty and the portions were large enough to fill you up. Friendly staff. 👍 we would love to come back.

We just had dinner there. Obviously there are not shrimps for all guests. I was told “we don’t have it there”, then when we were eating prawns were being prepared for other guests. The burger I then ordered was half the size of the one at the snack bar around the corner at home. This consists of unfinished white bread, a meatball, a bit of lettuce and a tomato. Furthermore, the staff didn't feel like working. I don't recommend eating there.

I looked at all the reviews. And I was so convinced of it and went there myself. For 16.90 euros, I had to order a large fried fish with fries at the counter and get my own food. Ridiculous is what I say. In terms of taste, it only tasted like water. Breading not even spicy. In Dorum I get better quality from the competition and definitely cheaper at around 7 euros. And the portions are significantly larger than the competition and taste better too. I'm never coming back.

There are delicious fish sandwiches here and the Aperol Spritz also tastes very enchanting. The outdoor terrace is covered and has radiant heaters, which make a stay in rain or bad weather an experience. The toilets, which are very well maintained and clean, are also a highlight. Be careful when washing your hands in the men's room. The water is very hot.

Best fried fish in Duhnen. Very tasty food. Absolutely average price for the region. A must for us on every holiday Updated June 2024: unfortunately the service has deteriorated extremely (!!!) since last year. The employees are so unfriendly and annoyed, both with one another and with the guests. Fortunately, I have rarely experienced anything like that. It's a shame but it's no longer an option for us.

Ate there on vacation and found it pleasant. Not perfect but good. Completely fine for the type of restaurant. Generally good selection, friendly staff and the prices are perfectly fine.

For vegans: This is one of the few restaurants in Cuxhaven that offers vegan dishes. The menu includes a vegan burger and vegan potato waffles. Unfortunately the potato waffles were out, although I would have liked to try them. The burger was quite tasty, but there is still room for improvement. The fries, however, were great.

Matjes roll was very well topped 😀and the roll was crispy, the price was like that of other providers nearby!! The ambience was very nice, you felt like you were in good hands...Nice service...What bothered me personally was that one of the servers took a shrimp roll out of the fridge, that's fine! But she picked up the crabs that had fallen out beforehand without a glove and pressed them into the bun!!! The hair was straightened beforehand, and there was no disinfection of the hands before or after! Then a wipe on the apron! I only noticed it because crabs were charged according to the daily price!...was curious....The roll cost the customer €14!...The customer didn't say anything, but her facial expression was very questioning!...Perhaps Use tongs or gloves the next time you serve it! Otherwise... I will still enjoy eating your herring roll!...

The food was ok. The waitress had her back to the counter and was very busy with her cell phone. After about 5 minutes we were noticed. The friendliness could be intensified a bit. However, last year and the year before last we were very satisfied.

Nice ambience. Please remember to bring a jacket or sweater on cold days despite the heater. Food was good and large portion. Unfortunately the service was a bit boring.

We were lucky and the weather cooperated. So it wasn't a problem to eat under the canopy. We can absolutely recommend Blauths. Very tasty food that was prepared quickly. Nice staff and reasonable prices! The next day we were there again, this time we treated ourselves to fish sandwiches "on hand". Freshly prepared and also very tasty!

We were once very excited, but unfortunately that was a year ago. Bad and unfriendly service today, the herring roll was soggy and unfortunately the prices are out of proportion.

Essen war ok, aber der Service unprofessionell und unfreundlich. Auf den Tafeln draußen standen billigere Preise als in der Kasse, Personal wurde bei Hinweis darauf pampig.

The menu promises housewife-style matjes. Instead of a cream sauce with cucumber and apples, you get an oversized dollop of mayonnaise. The fried potatoes and the matjes were acceptable, the portion would not have satisfied a really hungry holidaymaker. In the middle of eating we were showered with last night's rainwater through the awning that suddenly retracted.

Not recommendable. Fish & chips for €11.90, tasted good but the portion was very small for the price. Matjes with fried potatoes and according to the menu there was supposed to be a tartar sauce, but it was really very bad potato salad. It didn't taste good at all, it was definitely bought and not homemade. We were sitting outside and suddenly the awning was raised and the water that had collected on it from the rain completely covered another guest. We had to jump up and look for a new place. The poor lady who had to continue her lunch completely wet! And then the operator shouted “it’s just water!”. First, get the guests completely wet, that will definitely make them happy!

Positive: The fried fish roll with Remo was really tasty. Negatively, I wonder why such a small piece of fish with a ready-made roll has to cost 6.50 euros, I know the purchase prices, no restaurateur can justify that, the waiting time for such a roll was also extremely long!

My 2 year old daughter has celiac disease, so we thought that a potato waffle that was gluten free and they were advertising it was just the thing. Because of her age, she doesn't need any lavish side dishes. So we asked for one without topping. The waitress said of course, the man in the background became unfriendly and complained, it wouldn't work without it. I said, why should I order something for my daughter who doesn't eat it? Especially those who know the ropes know how difficult it is to get something to eat as a celiac. Then suddenly it worked, but he charged €6 for a simple small potato waffle. I find it very lush. Unfortunately, as I was walking, I also saw that the rolls were being cut open with the toppings and that the lady didn't wash her hands afterwards and ended up in the salad.

My wife has celiac disease and on the menu the waffles were advertised as gluten free. When asked on site, it suddenly said: yes, no. Not all of them are gluten free. I then decided on two waffles with smoked salmon. While preparing it, I could see how people were working with rolls (gluten) at the same time. Despite the bad aftertaste, my wife probably didn't get anything. Price performance for the waffle with lots of salmon was completely ok.

Blauths is a small street food restaurant with burgers, fresh rolls, cocktails, etc. You order at the house and get a station. As soon as it vibrates you can collect your food. So there are no waitresses here. The seating takes a little getting used to, but is quite comfortable. The waiting time for my burger was very short and the quality wasn't bad for such a small restaurant. The brioche buns could be a little firmer and a wooden skewer would be nice so that the burger doesn't fall apart when cutting. The barbecue sauce didn't really taste smoky, but overall the burger wasn't bad for the price. For a quick bite you absolutely can't go wrong here.

The location is great on the promenade, but unfortunately the service wasn't very attentive. The food was okay, but I personally found it lacking a bit of pizzazz and attention to detail. But that is only subjective.

We had lunch here and were totally thrilled. The food was lovingly prepared, the fries were crispy, and the service was very, very friendly. And we could look out to the sea and had free Wi-Fi. We will be back definitely Grade 1+

Nice covered beer garden with heating... We are here at the turn of the year and enjoy going here... Draft beer and snacks are very good... I can't say anything about the kitchen, but the dishes looked very appealing. We will be back
