While the restaurant is very nice, as are its staff, the selection of dishes is very limited and, above all, very expensive. Eating half a plate for €35.00 is simply not acceptable. Therefore, I can only recommend this restaurant with reservations.

Excellent lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. We had pasta with chanterelle mushrooms and beef, fish in a white wine sauce, and the kids had fries. Everything was very tasty and generously portioned, rounded off with crema Catalana, ice cream, and a cappuccino. The staff was courteous and helpful, despite the wedding reception upstairs. We can highly recommend the Blaue Esel; the food was excellent—we'll be back.

Perfect confirmation – great food, fantastic service! Together with several families, we rented the entire restaurant – and it was absolutely the right decision. Everything was lovingly prepared both inside and outside. The ambiance was relaxed, stylish, and yet child-friendly – ​​an atmosphere where you'll enjoy celebrating. The team was super attentive, open, and welcoming, and accommodated all our requests. We had a barbecue outside, along with a fantastic buffet that left nothing to be desired: fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. What was particularly nice was that we felt like the entire team was truly engaged with us. No cookie-cutter arrangements, just genuine hospitality. We couldn't have imagined anything better. A culinary experience in a class of its own! During our vacation we followed a recommendation and visited the Blauer Esel – Fein Aufgetischt in Rostock. When we examined the menu at the entrance, our enthusiasm was initially muted - the selection seemed limited. But thanks to my parents' persuasion, we reserved a table for the evening - and this decision turned out to be one of the best of our stay. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted like celebrity guests and immediately felt at home. The chef's flexibility was particularly impressive when it came to conjuring up a suitable dish for our daughter. Although nothing on the menu seemed suitable for them, the chef spontaneously created a delicious dish outside the regular menu - an exceptional service that delights families with children. The culinary journey began with a starter of fresh bread, accompanied by an incredibly aromatic Café de Paris butter and a beetroot butter that surprised with its sophistication. The greeting from the kitchen – small waffle cones with exquisite filling – was a real treat that even made our daughter rave. But the absolute highlight of the evening was the main course: a rump steak of impeccable quality, cooked to perfection and served with fantastic sauces and side dishes. Never before had we enjoyed celery or red and yellow beets in such a tasty composition. This experience set new standards - we will hardly be able to order rump steak anywhere else in the future! Conclusion: The Blue Donkey – Finely Served impressed us completely. Excellent service, a warm atmosphere and a cuisine that impresses with creativity and perfect craftsmanship. Our next stay in Rostock will definitely be marked by further visits to this restaurant. 5 out of 5 stars – absolute recommendation!

We were invited to a youth consecration in the “Blue Donkey” and were thrilled. We were able to experience a great celebration in a super nice atmosphere with very good food. Ms. Germanotta even organized a delicious extra dessert for me in the kitchen because I can't tolerate the existing one. Thank you very much, we would love to come back!

Das schönste war leider die Aussicht und das Ambiente. Das Personal nicht sehr aufmerksam. Sind 4 mal an unserem Tisch vorbeigelaufen, ohne das Geschirr mitzunehmen. Essen war lauwarm. Mein Salatteller bestand nur aus Salatblättern, 2 kl. Tomaten und eine Scheibe Gurke.Vom Anrichten her, war das alles ein bisschen lieblos. Schade

We had a great 5 course beginners menu in March at the Blauer Esel! The ambience, service and food were wonderful and we really enjoyed our time! We were lucky enough to be able to order the new menu. We had the version with meat.

Excellent food and outstanding service. The 6-course menu including wine accompaniment is highly recommended - the quality is, in my opinion, worth a Michelin award. Also worth highlighting is the non-alcoholic accompaniment. The ambience is atmospheric without appearing “stiff”. Many thanks to the entire staff for the wonderful evening and the nice conversation afterwards. We'll definitely be back.

Food very good. The selection of wine accompaniment was very good. The service was very nice, but: at the very beginning it made us wait a long time without water/drinks, and always brought wine accompaniment during/after the meal.

Finally (again) a gourmet restaurant in Rostock. The Blue Donkey in this concept is definitely an enrichment for the gastronomy in Rostock. The service was very attentive and we were also impressed with the taste of our 4-course menu. What was perhaps still missing was an explanation of the individual dishes. So: there's still a bit of room for improvement, but otherwise we're impressed.

The price doesn't match the service! The food was good however, the service still has potential. Music too loud, drink order only came after 24 minutes and the second order was forgotten. The red wine with the meal came when the food was almost eaten.

Were there for dinner at the harbor last Sunday. The food was good, compliments to the kitchen. We waited briefly for a table that was still being prepared, OK. Place mats were stained, vase was no longer put back on the table and wine glasses were dirty. That was a bit incomprehensible because we didn't have the impression that the staff were under stress, which in turn was good for the atmosphere.

The new fine dining concept “Finely served” completely convinced us. We have never eaten so well anywhere in Rostock. The food - all 5 courses of the two different menus (one menu vegan) - were without exception excellent (very good quality of food, varied composition of dishes, perfectly coordinated flavors). The price-performance ratio is very fair. Thanks to the friendly, professional service and delicious food, we had a wonderful evening (which we will definitely repeat) in the stylishly furnished rooms of the listed building; Thanks to the “Blue Donkey” team. We can fully recommend the restaurant.

Unser erster Besuch im neuen Blauen Esel im Stadthafen von Rostock war leider sehr enttäuschend Die Begrüßung war okay und wir wurden zum Platz begleitet. Obere Etage an einem ziemlich kleinen zweier Tisch. Das Restaurant war sehr gut gebucht. Offensichtlich möchten die Rostocker das neue Restaurant kennen lernen. So auch wir. Unser Kellner war zu meinem Erstaunen ungepflegt und roch sehr nach Schweiß. Es war keine Dienst Garderobe erkennbar. Wir erhielten eine Flasche Weißwein. Diese wird zwar auf Eis gelegt, aber nicht ins Eiswasser gestellt. Naja, wir haben darum gebeten und der Wunsch wurde uns erfüllt. Beide aßen wir Fisch. Mein Mann Wild Kabeljau und ich den Fischteller mit drei verschiedenen Sorten Fisch. Die drei Stücken Fisch waren sehr dünn und komplett tot gebraten bei der Nachfrage ob wir zufrieden sind, erwähnte ich das. Man bot mir an, einen neuen Fischteller zu bekommen aber wir wollten ja auch gemeinsam zu Abendessen. Und nach 45 Minuten Wartezeit wollte ich nicht noch mal 45 Minuten warten. So aß ich die Beilagen und auch etwas Fisch. War aber komplett unzufrieden und satt bin ich auch nicht geworden. Beim Abräumen wurden wir auch nicht nach einem Espresso gefragt. Es kam keine weitere Entschuldigung. Für 34 € kann man zudem erwarten, dass man satt wird. Was mir weiterhin aufgefallen ist, dass es keine Stoffservietten gibt. Man spart ja schon an Tischdecken, aber bei den Preisen sollte man schon Stoffservierten zum Abendessen eindecken. Zu zweit tranken wir also eine Flasche Grauburgunder, eine große Flasche Wasser und aßen zwei Hauptgänge. Unsere Rechnung betrug 117 €. So schnell werden wir das Restaurant nicht wieder besuchen. Es fehlt an Raffinesse und an eben sehr guter Küche. Nur ein wenig Shishi auf dem Teller und tot gebratenen Fisch – davon wird man nicht satt

On the occasion of our silver wedding, we went to dinner with friends and family in the Blue Donkey. Although the boss asked about the occasion when making the reservation, the table was in no way prepared for the occasion. There were no congratulations either. The coat hooks were already full, so that's it our jackets and coats were squished on the bench. The main course was served after 90 minutes, a dish was served after another 20 minutes of waiting time, and 1 dish was received incorrectly. There was neither compensation nor an apology from the waiter. Portions were very manageable for the high prices. The food was tasty good, but a Viennese schnitzel doesn't belong in the deep fryer. From our point of view, the staff (including the kitchen) were overwhelmed by the number of guests. Therefore, in my opinion, I would not recommend it.

Wir waren in größerer Truppe vor und nach dem Event „Schlagersail“ im Esel am Hafen Rostock. Nicht nur das alles (Tische rücken) völlig unkompliziert war, auch der Service war völlig unkompliziert, schnell, super nett und hilfsbereit. Das Essen war lecker und der Wein dazu Spitze. Man merkt, dass hier junge motivierte Leute am Start sind. Danke dem ganzen Team, auch dafür, dass wir zu später Stunde nicht verhungert sind. Im nächsten Jahr kommen wir wieder, denn Karten zur Schlagersail 2025 sind gekauft

We went to the restaurant last night based on a recommendation. The first service person arrived relatively quickly, we still needed a moment. We then placed our order, the drinks came in a reasonable time, then the appetizers took a while. Until then it's okay. But waiting over an hour for the main course is not possible. The second lady apologized, deducted 1(!) drink from the bill and we were allowed to wait another 20 minutes for this “accommodation”. It was 5:30 p.m. when we paid and the outside area was minimally occupied. This also applies when ordering. The goat cheese was great, the rest was okay. It's a shame actually.

We were pampered by the Blue Donkey as part of a catering event. Nothing was missing except more space in the stomach. Our catering was supervised by a chef who lovingly looked after our guests. All guests, around 50, praised the food highly. Thank you very much for a successful evening, dear Blue Donkey team.

My favorite restaurant. Great dishes always with a bit of pep, which always make the meal something special. The service and ambience are great and the slightly higher price is absolutely justified. We are already looking forward to the next visit.

On the city tour we walked past this attractive restaurant and noticed it. After the city tour, we returned for a late lunch - convenient so we could choose the hands-free “blue hour” menu. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The service was attentive but unobtrusive and was able to give us a good tip for a planned wine purchase. We'd love to come back!

Everything was great except for the fact that we ordered Martini Bianco and they knowingly brought us something else instead since Martini isn't offered at all. It would have been nice and fair if we had been told right away that they didn't have a martini to save us the disappointment afterwards.

The Blue Donkey is an excellent restaurant with fine cuisine and a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is seasonal and also includes a variety of vegetarian options. The beetroot pasta was my personal highlight, a real taste experience. We will definitely come back and can only recommend it.

I had dinner with you for the first time last night. We shared your appetizer platter, which was very, very good! Afterwards I had the beetroot pasta. For 22 euros, the pasta was not homemade. I find that very unfortunate. At such a price I would have expected that. At a good Italian restaurant the pasta is made in-house for the price! When we asked for the bill we were told that the tip would be better taken in cash. I had put out my 10 euro note and it was simply put in my wallet. I didn't mention wanting to tip 10 euros. That doesn't work for me at all! You do not do something like that! I then told her again that it was for you. There wasn't even a thank you afterwards! That was probably a given for the lady! Even though the restaurant is very nicely decorated, the prices are still high. The food is good, but not great! A pity!
