We went to the restaurant last night based on a recommendation. The first service person arrived relatively quickly, we still needed a moment. We then placed our order, the drinks came in a reasonable time, then the appetizers took a while. Until then it's okay. But waiting over an hour for the main course is not possible. The second lady apologized, deducted 1(!) drink from the bill and we were allowed to wait another 20 minutes for this “accommodation”. It was 5:30 p.m. when we paid and the outside area was minimally occupied. This also applies when ordering. The goat cheese was great, the rest was okay. It's a shame actually.

We were pampered by the Blue Donkey as part of a catering event. Nothing was missing except more space in the stomach. Our catering was supervised by a chef who lovingly looked after our guests. All guests, around 50, praised the food highly. Thank you very much for a successful evening, dear Blue Donkey team.

My favorite restaurant. Great dishes always with a bit of pep, which always make the meal something special. The service and ambience are great and the slightly higher price is absolutely justified. We are already looking forward to the next visit.

Cozy restaurant with fine dining. At lunchtime there are lunch dishes that are also recommended for those on a budget. The wine is very good. We liked it very much.

On the city tour we walked past this attractive restaurant and noticed it. After the city tour, we returned for a late lunch - convenient so we could choose the hands-free “blue hour” menu. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The service was attentive but unobtrusive and was able to give us a good tip for a planned wine purchase. We'd love to come back!

Passed by by chance, inconspicuous. When you enter this restaurant you enter another world. So much attention to detail. It's like the staff lives for this restaurant. The service is unobtrusive and excellent. The food is fantastic.

The cuisine is creative and carefully prepared, using many local products. The service team is friendly, courteous and professional, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. For everyone who is traveling in Rostock and wants good food in a cozy, historic atmosphere, the Blue Donkey is just right. Four stars for the food, five for the ambience and team – so five stars overall.

the service here was quite pleasant and attentive, i.e. ok, although the food was nicely arranged on the plate and it was really a pleasure to look at it, just like the picture, but the taste was unfortunately a little worse, such food does not excite or even make you sad, it's a shame, I guess they didn't have their day in the kitchen...

The best welcome I have ever received. You feel like you've got a new family. Stylish ambience with historical character and lovingly unique pieces. The food is incredibly good and the wine selection leaves nothing to be desired. The service is very fast and knows how to discreetly blend into the background. The music selection is very appropriate and relaxing.

Die beste Begrüßung die ich jemals erhalten habe. Man fühlt sich als hätte man eine neue Familie bekommen. Stilvolles Ambiente mit historischen Charakter und liebevollen Einzelstücken. Das Essen ist wahnsinnig gut und auch die Weinauswahl lässt keine Wünsche offen. Der Service ist sehr schnell und weiß sich diskret in den Hintergrund zu bringen. Die Musikauswahl ist sehr passend und entspannend.

A little too expensive, but everything very good and appealing.

Everything was great except for the fact that we ordered Martini Bianco and they knowingly brought us something else instead since Martini isn't offered at all. It would have been nice and fair if we had been told right away that they didn't have a martini to save us the disappointment afterwards.

I was positively surprised by the ambience, food and service. From the outside it was impossible to see what beautiful ambience awaited us. We will definitely visit the “Blue Donkey” again on our next visit to Rostock

The Blue Donkey is an excellent restaurant with fine cuisine and a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is seasonal and also includes a variety of vegetarian options. The beetroot pasta was my personal highlight, a real taste experience. We will definitely come back and can only recommend it.

The table service seemed a bit uncoordinated, the drinks only arrived after over 20 minutes, just minutes before the meal.

I had dinner with you for the first time last night. We shared your appetizer platter, which was very, very good! Afterwards I had the beetroot pasta. For 22 euros, the pasta was not homemade. I find that very unfortunate. At such a price I would have expected that. At a good Italian restaurant the pasta is made in-house for the price! When we asked for the bill we were told that the tip would be better taken in cash. I had put out my 10 euro note and it was simply put in my wallet. I didn't mention wanting to tip 10 euros. That doesn't work for me at all! You do not do something like that! I then told her again that it was for you. There wasn't even a thank you afterwards! That was probably a given for the lady! Even though the restaurant is very nicely decorated, the prices are still high. The food is good, but not great! A pity!

Hier kann man stilvoll und in gehobener Atmosphäre zu Abend essen. In Bezug auf das Speisen- und Getränkeangebot dürfte Jede(r) fündig werden. Unterhaltungen sind sehr gut möglich. Geeignet fürs romantische Date sowie Geschäftsessen.

Wir waren aufgrund einiger Empfehlungen in diesem Restaurant. Es war das erste aber auch das letzte mal. Ambiente war gemütlich, der Service war nett und bemüht….das Essen hat uns allerdings sehr enttäuscht. Die Karte klingt nach einem gehobenen Restaurant aber leider war das was uns geboten wurde nicht der Fall. Mit Gewürzen ist die Küche wohl sehr sparsam und die Große Vorfreude auf unsere Speisen hielt leider auch nur solange an, bis der Teller vor uns stand. Leider stimmt hier das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis überhaupt. Sehr schade.

Wir waren heute das erste Mal im Blauen Esel , wir hatten einen Tisch für 12 Personen reserviert und alle sind mehr als begeistert.. tolles Essen, super liebe Kellnerin und ein wunderschönes Ambiente.. wir hatten einen separaten Raum bekommen.. Es war einfach ein gelungener Abend. Wir kommen wieder !!! ;-) :-)

We were surprised by the elevated quality of the food for a good price, after spontaneously remarking the restaurant during a stroll through the city center. Luckily we got a table without a reservation in a restaurant that combines historical and classic interior with a cozy and modern style. The kitchen makes use of typical regional ingredients in a delicious and satisfying way. The only disappointment that could be spotted was the frantic, but nonetheless friendly service which did not take any time to introduce themselfes nor the restaurant nor gave they any explanation of the well presented dishes. Sadly this very much contradicts the food and the atmosphere of this restaurant that is surely on its way to star quality.

Eigentlich ein Top Restaurant, doch Weihnachten schmeckte das Essen wie bei einer Massenabfertigung. Der Rotkohl war sehr kocht und Gewürze kannte der Koch nicht. Der Preis war für diese Kochkunst einfach deutlich zu hoch. Die Bedienung war am diesem Tag nicht fachkundig und schaute ungepflegt aus. Eigentlich gibt es hier tolle Kellner, aber leider nicht an diesem Tag.

Tolles Restaurant mit einem sehr schönen Ambiente und äußerst nettem Service. Leider mundete uns das heutige Weihnachtsessen nicht: fader Geschmack von Ente und ROTKOHL, das Fleisch der Entenkeule war hingegen zart und nicht zu fett. Echt schade, ich hatte mich so aufs Essen gefreut, nachdem alle Familienmitglieder von der Qualität der Speisen im Blauen Esel geschwärmt hatten. Naja ich komme außerhalb der Feiertage mal wieder, ihr habt eine 2.Chance verdient.

Sehr sehr leckerer Lachs, der Pistazienlikör und das Nougat-Mousse, sowie die Kürbiscremesuppe ist auch zu empfehlen. Sehr aufmerksamer Service.

Rundum perfekt. Sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre, selten so einen guten aufmerksamen und zuvorkommenden Service erlebt. Ganz zu schweigen vom grandiosen Essen. Eignet sich gut für besondere Anlässe, da es doch etwas höherpreisig ist.

Eine Empfehlung von Herzen. Waren nun schon das 3. Mal dort und es ist immer wieder ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Das gemütliche Ambiente, das nette Personal, die leckeren Gerichte, die außergewöhnlichen Cocktails, es passt einfach alles fabelhaft zueinander. Einen fetten Pluspunkt gibt es von uns, weil unser Hund herzlich willkommen war und sich auch um ihn lieb gekümmert wurde.

Essen sehr gut, Personal nett und freundlich und sehr schönes Ambiente.

Der Besuch im „Blauen Esel“ ist auf jeden Fall lohnenswert. Der Service ist super und die Karte fein und übersichtlich. Ich empfehle Thunfischtatar, für den wer Fisch mag. Ansonsten sind die Salate auch sehr lecker. Der Adlerfisch war gestern sehr gut und das Rinderfilet heute auf den Punkt. Die Weinkarte ist sehr gut. Die Nachspeisen sind empfehlenswert, wenn noch Platz ist. Auf alle Fälle sollten die Gäste auch den Rum Nation Meticho probieren. Die anderen Absacker sind auch nicht zu verachten. Ohne Alkohol kann man natürlich auch den Abend überstehen. Probiert es aus, es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall.

Bin sehr enttäuscht. Für ein Weihnachtsessen nicht weihnachtlich gedeckt. Der Service abgearbeitet. Das Essen am Vortag zubereitet und aufgewärmt. Meine Gans war trocken und die Keule ohne Haut (war wohl nicht mehr genießbar). Der Laden war voll und dabei überfordert. Nur einen offenen Rotwein - geht auch gar nicht. Ein Glas 10 €, wenn man diesen nicht mag??? Alles in Allem - bei den Preisen, nein danke.

Wir waren letzte Woche dort zum Abendessen. Dieses Mal waren wir nicht so zufrieden wie sonst. Was am Essen lag. Die aktuelle Karte lässt für Menschen mit Unverträglichkeiten nicht viel Spielraum. Nach dem "Studium " der Allergenkarte blieben zwei Gerichte übrig. Auch für Veganer sind die Alternativen sehr spärlich. Das war mal besser. Ich bestellte das Weihnachtsmenü. Suppe okay, jedoch war die Entenkeule überhaupt nicht knusprig sondern irgendwie bleich. Die Knödel waren im Kern viel zu fest, irgendwie mehlig. Das Dessert war in Ordnung. Ansonsten der Service war wie immer super. Ich bin der Meinung dass man bei dem Anspruch den das Lokal an sich stellt schon mal pingelig sein kann.

Nette Bedienung, sehr gutes Essen

Tolles und verrücktes Restaurant auf verschiedenen Etagen verschiedenen Räumen . Kleine aber frische und unglaublich leckere Karte. Hier wurden wir von der Qualität und Geschmack der Speisen völlig überrascht !

Gemütliches Restaurant, sehr freundlicher Service. Die Auswahl auf der Mittagskarte mit 5 verschiedenen Gerichten war abwechslungsreich. Das Essen wurde schnell serviert und war sehr lecker abgeschmeckt. Leider war der bestellte Fisch teilweise noch nicht durchgegart. Alles andere war perfekt. Daher gebe ich trotzdem 4 Sterne!

Schon besonders. Toller, sehr aufmerksamer Service. Man kann sicher auch woanders billiger Nahrung zu sich nehmen. Aber das Gastronomieerlebnis war es wert.

1. Die Speisekarte hat sich im letzten Jahr stark verschlechtert. Ich wollte eigentlich eine der vielen leckeren Bowls, aber es gab nur noch eine einzige. Ich bin sonst nicht mäkelig, aber das einzige was mir dann halbwegs gefiel, war der Burger, und das kann ich auch woanders essen. 2. Mit 4 Leuten - zurückhaltende Bestellungen - 250 € ausgeben, das ist schon fett. 3. Mit Karte gezahlt, auf dem Kontoauszug steht GERMANOTTA GMBH//ROSTOCK/DE (Datum, Uhrzeit) Folgenr. 007 Verfalld. 1226. WAS SAGT UNS DAS? Dem, der das so eingerichtet hat, ist es egal, ob und wie der Kontoinhaber diese Zahlung dem Blauen Esel zuordnen kann oder nicht. Daher - trotz des netten Personals und der hübschen Einrichtung - kann ich den Blauen Esel von meiner Liste streichen. Ich geh lieber in den Heumond.

Waren an einem Freitag Abend mit Reservierung zu viert essen, empfehle den Bereich ganz oben, sehr großzügig geschnitten, unten ist es sehr eng. Die einzige!! Toilette befindet sich auch oben, für gehbehinderte ein riesengroßes Problem. Service sehr freundlich, aber etwas holprig, Fachkräfte-Mangel lässt grüßen. Da gehobene Küche hier erwartet wird war meine Begleitung beim Hirsch sehr enttäuscht, für 33€ darf Mann! Etwas mehr Filet als nur zwei kleine Stücke erwarten, dazu nur Püree und gratinierter Blumenkohl. Das passte nicht. Auf unseren Hinweis hin nur die Aussage einer Mitarbeiterin es der Küche zu melden, keine Entschuldigung, kein Entgegenkommen, nichts. Schade, sowas bleibt dann leider hängen. Die anderen Speisen waren sehr gut. Pelhuhnbrust und Heilbutt.

Ein sehr schönes Erlebnis: Speisen und Getränke-Empfehlungen sehr gut ! Service super freundlich und professionell. Ambiente in dem Haus von 1600 einmalig!

Fantastisk sted med rigtig god mad og fantastiske tjenere. Vi var fire der havde en rigtig dejlig aften, og dette til en yderst fornuftig pris. Vi kommer helt sikkert igen, og stedet kan klart anbefales 👍

Die Pasta war sehr lasch und keine 19€ wert. Das Ambiente im "Weinkeller" war nicht schön, da die Treppe über einem knarrte. Passt nicht zum Rest der hübschen Lokalität. Die Getränke waren sehr lecker. Der Service war gut und schnell. Danke dafür!

Der Blaue Esel stand schon lange auf unserer Ausprobieren-Liste und wir hatten schon vuel (unterschiedliches) Feedback gehört. Positiv: -online Reservierung problemlos möglich, aktuelle Karte online - sehr schöne Atmosphäre im Restaurant - nettes Personal - schöne Getränke Auswahl - endlich auch mal besondere alkoholfreie Drinks. Toll! Leider hat der Rest nicht so gepasst. Die Vorspeise war lecker, der Hauptgang (Ochsenbäckchen) schmeckte leider nur durchschnittlich, ebeso die Crème Brûlée. Es fehlte das gewisse Extra und geschmacklich hat es mich nicht überzeugt. Der Service ist nett, aber nicht auf der Höhe und sehr langsam. Essen kam 3 mal vor den Getränken, von Bestellung bis zum 1. Getränk verging sehr viel Zeit. Ich bin mit einem Aperitif bin ich bis zum Nachtisch gekommen, es wurde einfach nicht nachgefragt und auch eine Bedienung heranzuwinken war schwierig. Die Teller wurden nicht abgeräumt und der nächste Gang kam, während alles noch auf dem Tisch stand usw. Dafür war der Abend preislich im oberen Bereich.

Haben gestern anlässlich unseres Hochzeitstags dort gespeist. Service und Küche waren wieder sehr gut. Ein Besuch zum genießen und verweilen lohnt sich immer wieder. Vielen Dank

In der Tat ein Geheimtip. Hervorragendes Essen aus einer ausgewählten Speisekarte mit dem dazu passenden professionellen und freundlichen Personal. Das Restaurant bietet dazu noch den passenden Flair auf 4 ebenen.
