Wir waren heute zu dem Rittermahl mit der Familie vor Ort.Leider sind wir von dem Essen und von der älteren frechen Dame die dort arbeitet total enttäuscht. Bei dem Mahl war der 2.Gang gefüllte Paprikas mit Gehacktes.Das Fleisch war innen noch ganz roh.Wir reklamierten das.Zur Entschädigung bekamen wir dann heiße Fleischwurst.Wäre ja in Ordnung gewesen,wenn diese dann auch heiß gewesen wäre.Von innen richtig kalt. Das reklamierten wir dann wieder.Zur Antwort bekamen wir dann nur von dieser frechen alten Dame,das kein Platz und keine Zeit war die Wurst richtig zu erwärmen. Als Entschädigung wollte sie uns Schnaps geben.Sehr merkwürdig. Aber immer noch günstiger als etwas Preisnachlass zu gewähren. Also wir haben uns echt nicht für ernst genommen und nicht wohl gefühlt .Es ist dort Fließband Arbeit.Die armen Mitarbeiter die von dieser Frau rumkomandiert werden Weiter empfehlen werden wir das bestimmt nicht !!!!!!

My boyfriend and I have visited this restaurant several times because we were often able to get a voucher for ribs from Groupon. The food is delicious every time. As a starter we had a ciabatta trio for €2 extra, plus herb curd as a spread and fresh cherry tomatoes. We were told very transparently in advance that this would cost an extra €2. Every bread tasted really delicious. For the main course, we each had the homemade ribs with a baked potato, sour cream and coleslaw. The ribs: A dream, tender meat and there was extra sauce for those who like a little more sauce on the ribs. The potato was also buttery and tasted great, as did the coleslaw. For dessert I had the Tartufo Limoncello and my partner had the chocolate cake. You could have sat down for the desserts, they are that delicious <3. The service was very attentive and friendly. When the glasses were empty, you were immediately asked if you would like to drink something else. For the ribs there was also an extra bowl for the bones and refreshing towels for the hands. Serving was also really quick. So Toppi! The ambience is incomparable as the restaurant is located in an old castle tower. You really think you are sitting in a medieval restaurant. We really like going here because the food, the service and the ambience are great. We highly recommend the restaurant. :)

We wanted to spend a nice evening in the castle, but instead we were put in a glass box, even though we had booked six months in advance. If we had been informed of this beforehand, we would NOT have made a reservation there. The disappointment was great. We won't book there again, it's a shame

I think it's a very nice place to visit. Dishes from the charcoal grill, à la carte dishes and knight's dinners are offered. The view is great and around the castle, the small streets and paths as well as the adjacent park invite you to take long walks.

We went there for the second time yesterday to eat ribs. Super delicious!!! The staff was also very friendly and saved a bit with Groupon. We will definitely come back and then also a la carte! The ambience is of course beautiful, but it also depends on the table you have. Outside the tables with fire also have a special flair. We'll be back!

We celebrated our wedding in July at Blankenstein Castle in the smaller location. From the start we felt very comfortable and in good hands. In order to design our wedding according to our ideas, the castle team responded to all wishes. Communication was always flawless. The place is really good and peaceful! They serve nice food and also have a small party hall. I really liked the small fires near the table to create warmth. The place is really quite and superb to go with the family. You can also climb up a little and see the nice view. Weather was really sunny and it is best to visit in such weather as it is in the open environment. The place is must visit, when near to Bochum!

This is a great atmosphere. We were more than thrilled. The food is great and I can't say anything negative about the price. A very nice staff and a great view. We had the rib menu. I can only recommend going there if you're hungry. We will eat there more often.

Great Borg! My journey there was very inspiring and had a big impact on me! I used to be there often as a child and the charm has been retained to this day. The sight of these magnificent walls makes me open my eyes in delight every time. Beer tastes better on the Borg than anywhere else. Top recommendation! The excursion destination that you have to see once in your life, because this castle bears witness to a great, magnificent age and still conveys these values ​​today. We were here with 3 people. We have known the castle for a long time and it was actually our first time in the restaurant. The food was delicious, even if it was a bit too heavy on cream. We had zander fillet, pork fillet and cheese spaetzle with chanterelles. The portions were generous and we went home full. The service was very nice and attentive, the ambience is simply great. We celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle last week. It was the best day of our lives, thanks to the castle staff! :-) We were already sure that everything would be perfect and that's exactly how it was. The advice in advance was really great, everything was decorated and set exactly as we imagined. The service was great and we receive positive feedback every day about the wonderful food. Having been to a few weddings ourselves, we can say that both the staff and the food are truly sensational. You rarely get such good quality, preparation and selection. We celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle. We had a wonderful day because the castle is really a fantastic location for a wedding and overall the team did a good job on the wedding day. The food and decoration were also very successful. However, making arrangements in advance was sometimes a bit difficult, so we cannot fully recommend the location. We found it tedious that there was no brochure or something similar with suggestions for food, but that we were asked by email what we would like to eat without us knowing what was available. This resulted in an unnecessarily long email exchange. We also asked twice whether there were vegan options and both times the response was an absolute no go for us in 2024. The first time we were told that we wouldn't take part in such a "circus". The second time we were asked how we would imagine it to be, we didn't even know how to find the vegan guest. When we then replied that other locations also managed to offer vegan options, it was assumed that they were just pretending that the dishes were vegan. After a few minutes of discussion, we agreed to prepare a separate dish for the vegan guest that they could pick up directly from the chef. The conversation was very unpleasant for us and we found the behavior not very customer-oriented. Communication was also difficult in other areas. For example, we were once overcharged €1000, for which no apology was even given when we pointed it out. In addition, during a preliminary discussion two months before the wedding, it was suddenly said that the DJ, who didn't yet know the location, had to come by first because the system was so complicated. After our DJ called the castle himself, it suddenly happened without him having to come by first (which would have been difficult due to the further journey). On the day of the wedding itself, some guests had to wait quite a long time for their drinks during the meal. One of the waiters told us that there weren't enough waiters assigned for our number of guests. We also didn't like the fact that during our wedding reception a strange couple who were also interested in the location were shown around without us being asked or informed about it. This was also offered to us at the time, but we didn't take advantage of it.

We were there on Saturday to make my best friend's daughter's 18th birthday very special. For the first time there, for the first time a knight's dinner and what can you say: it was really a celebration! The ambience, the service, the food, the program... We celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle a week ago. In short: it couldn't have been nicer. The location was beautifully prepared despite the varied weather. Everything that was previously promised was kept - and to be honest, exceeded. The castle is fortunate to have a staff who naturally look after all guests in a reserved but attentive and diligent manner. The food was great - many of our guests asked us about it afterwards. Transparent costs are certainly still an important point. We previously received an invoice and that is exactly what was paid. There were no hidden costs. Finally, we would like to mention that everything was done to implement our ideas and wishes. We definitely only want to get married once, but we would do it here again and would highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you!

Grund war ein Spare-Rib Essen in diesem Restaurant. Kulinarisch waren die ribs und die dazu gereichten weiteren Bestandteile einfach Spitze. Das kulinarische Angebot auf der Karte ist vielversprechend! Ebenso die angebotenen Getränke. Auffallend nettes Team und das Ambiente des Restaurants in der Burg ist einfach (beinahe) einzigartig. Das gilt auch für den Aussenbereich des Restaurants in der ehemaiigen Burg! - Hier können auch Feiern von Gesellschaften durchgeführt werden. Das Restaurant ist wirklich einen Besuch wert!

We celebrated our wedding on August 24th, 2024 and were completely satisfied and happy that we chose the location! The service staff, Mr. Müller and Ms. Teschner were all very helpful and committed to making many of our wishes possible for us, for which we are very grateful. We didn't have to worry about our presents late when we went home, nothing came away and everything went smoothly the next day. The free wedding ceremony was beautiful, but maybe parasols or something similar can be put up soon. It should be clear that it will be a very hot day, as some of the guests were sitting in the blazing sun, which made it a bit uncomfortable for them just a little tip. We would get married there again and again! Thank you for everything.

I was able to get to know the location as a photographer at a wedding. Nothing was missing. A great atmosphere, the Müller family, who do a great job with a lot of commitment and fulfill every wish if at all possible. It wasn't the service that served us, it was great! It was the old lady who charged us and ruined the whole lovely evening we had in one fell swoop! Their audacity and impudence at us just because we wanted to pay with the card and had put a tip in the can was extremely cheeky. Only cash is true then the saying came up and if she paid with the card she would have to charge €25 instead of €19.40. It's a real shame that some people have to be like that and can spoil the evening like that. That's why we were there last time.

We celebrated our wedding last weekend with around 130 people and were extremely thrilled. The castle seemed a bit unkempt when we first visited it, but the Müller family's team knew how to present it for our day in perfect light, beautifully detailed and with attention to detail. From the first drink in the afternoon until we were swept out early in the morning it was just great. Not only are we in the throes of love, our friends and families also confirm the following: The food was great, there was nothing to complain about, there wasn't anything empty. The staff is extremely friendly and competent, quick and guest-oriented right up to the last second. The party in the burgkeller was also very happy, especially at the bar. Fantastically beautiful, absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to come and enjoy. (no stress about setting up and dismantling, this truck takes over the location) Btw. The double occupancy (small in tent 1 and large wedding party in tent 2) is optimally implemented so that there are no points of contact - so don't worry here, you can celebrate for yourself here. Big praise to everyone involved and a heartfelt recommendation. We'll definitely see each other there again at the latest for our silver wedding anniversary...

We wanted to have lunch there today (brunch)... When we got there we were approached in a very unfriendly and condescending manner by a gentleman (looked like the boss, or someone who has a little more to say there)... He was very arrogant, so we left the lacation immediately

Was here at a wedding. At the beginning the service was attentive, but later it became increasingly overwhelmed. There was no coffee with the cake. Cappuccino was not possible at all. The tents in which the company sat were uncomfortable and later poorly lit. There were only hot plates, which was suboptimal for the cold starters. The food was okay, but I've eaten better and worse. Unfortunately, roast beef wasn't that good. You would have had to go back to the buffet to season it. The location is really nice and you have a good view. By the way, you can't park here. Unfortunately not so great.

Wir hatten vor die Konfirmation unseres Sohnes dort zu feiern und haben ein Jahr im voraus Kontakt aufgenommen. Man sagte uns, dass wir zu früh dran sind und uns im August melden sollen. Das haben wir getan, um dann eine Absage zu bekommen, da an einen Samstag Hochzeiten bevorzugt werden, da man natürlich mehr daran verdienen kann. Hätte man uns das sofort gesagt, hätten wir bereits woanders einen Termin gebucht. Wir haben mehrmals dort gefeiert aber das ist sehr enttäuschend.

We celebrated my mother's 90th birthday at the castle in a small circle. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was very friendly and the food was really good. We wanted something extraordinary for our wedding anniversary. We were very happy to eat at the castle. When we arrived we spent almost 30 minutes looking for a parking space. Afterwards we finally entered the castle and found out that a wedding party was taking up most of the castle grounds. Such information would have been good in advance, we would have preferred to come another time. We couldn't enjoy the castle ambience, too crowded and too warm in the dining room. The food was really tasty and the service was nice, that was the only thing we said was worth it. The rest of us were very disappointed because of the wedding.

We recently celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle. The ambience was beautiful. Decorations, flowers, drinks and food were provided, so we didn't have to worry about much ourselves. The location with the view is unique. The food and drinks could be designed entirely according to our wishes. The food was particularly praised by all guests. Despite a reserved table, people were surprised by our visit. After a short wait of around 20 minutes, we were asked what drinks we wanted. After an hour of waiting, the thirst was finally quenched. The waiting time for the ordered food was 2 hours. In addition, a request to exchange a satiety supplement was not fulfilled. The wish was additionally served. The staff sometimes gave the impression that they could handle your excessive demands. The food ordered and served was very tasty, plentiful and fully corresponded to the consumption temperature. The atmosphere and the weather were excellent. The crowning glory was the payment process. Not at the table, no the guest can go to the checkout themselves. Split billing seemed to be new territory for the staff in the form of the boss. The payment process adapted seamlessly to the medieval ambience of the restaurant. Each item had to be entered manually into the cash register. Discussions about the quantity of items consumed were included. Despite the very good quality of the food and the exceptionally good ambience, we will not be visiting this restaurant again. Service and hospitality should look completely different in 2024.

We celebrated our wedding in July 2024 at Blankenstein Castle in the large party location. From the service to the ambience to the food, everything was perfect. The view and ambience in particular were unbeatable.

Was there today by bike, around 5 p.m. Unfortunately, I wasn't served a drink because the beer garden doesn't open until 6 p.m. The service worker then asked her supervisor whether an exception could be made. Answer was no. Really sad. Customer service is different.

We stopped at Blankenstein Castle for dinner. The ambience is extraordinary. You can reach the castle through the town and have a wonderful view of the Ruhr Valley from up there. Ganz furchtbare und familienunfreundliche Menschen. Eine Burg zu besichtigen sollte für alle Menschen möglich sein, vorallem wenn Öffnungszeiten angegeben sind, nach denen man sich richtet. Dass dann unserer Familien nach 1,5 Stunden Anreise der Zugang verwehrt wurde und unsere Kinder nicht mal kurz die Burgmauern besichtigen durften, ganz fürchterlich. Burgen sind Allgemeingut sein und gehören in öffentliche Hand, anstatt in die Hände von Bonzen, die diese Burg privatisieren und sie für Privstverandtaltungen teuer zu Verfügung stellen. Ganz schlimm.

Castles should be accessible to everyone, especially if opening hours are advertised online. Castles belong in public hands and should not belong to private entrepreneurs who can decide who is allowed into the castle for money and who is not. Especially since the castle probably belongs to the city of Bochum and not to the owner of the restaurant, who presented himself like the ruler of the castle. Giving children such a negative experience after a 1.5 hour journey. Absolutely family unfriendly.

We got married at Blankenstein Castle and were absolutely thrilled! The food and service are very, very good, the best we have seen at weddings so far. The location itself is incredible, the view is breathtaking, and the ambience of the castle and the old town of Blankenstein do the rest. Delicious food in historic walls

We celebrated our wedding there and it was beautiful! Ms. Teschner and Mr. Müller always had an open ear beforehand and always took time to address all concerns. The service during the celebration was also excellent! The food and the midnight snack were simply delicious. Nothing was left to be desired! The castle also offers a fantastic backdrop with a view of the Ruhr Valley and a medieval ambience. The interior area in the larger location is also just right in size with a bar, dance floor and seating. We would plan a celebration there again at any time ☺️

Went there to have a coffee outside. After a fairly long wait, a young man came and reluctantly agreed to serve us. Afterwards I would have liked to order something else, but no one was approached or showed up. We had to pay inside. This is the second time I've been so disappointed. We're not allowed to get married there either because there aren't 70 of us but only 30...who knows so many people? The reasoning was that only 70 could give us a nice evening. Very disappointing, my friend grew up in Witten, we wanted to get married in the chapel and celebrate at the castle. Then you are so brushed off. Oh, by the way, in September it's probably possible with 30 people... of course the summer is only reserved for people with 70 people... I find something like that very disappointing and somehow we feel like second-class people just because you... doesn't have a big family. Maybe you also think that you don't have the necessary change. Oh, I'm very desperate and sad about this statement.

We were lucky enough to be able to celebrate our wedding in Blankenstein Castle on June 8th, 2024. From the first meeting we noticed that the work here was done with a lot of professionalism and passion as well as transparency in pricing. Extra requests are welcome here. The organization, the food, the service and the location made our wedding unforgettable! We had the great pleasure of getting married at Blankenstein Castle. What should we say? It was just PERFECT! The beautiful ambience, the free wedding ceremony in the castle courtyard... everything went wonderfully from the first contact to the celebration! With live cooking, the champagne reception and the snack were beautifully presented. The table decoration with attention to detail! Beautiful view while eating. What we particularly liked was that the weather was uncertain on the day itself and we were able to wait until the last minute to see if we could have the ceremony outside. We were assured that everything could be prepared in 10 minutes. We then decided to have our wedding ceremony outside and were really lucky with the weather. But also thanks to Mr. Müller felt very safe and were not pressured into drawing premature conclusions, so we were able to wait until just before the weather! Our wedding photos at the castle and the grounds are simply unique and we can't stop looking at them. The party in the castle tower was a complete success! All in all a DREAM WEDDING! A beautiful castle but the ambience in the restaurant is just not right. Lounge/house music is playing, which reflects more of a holiday atmosphere by the sea. I don't expect this style of music in a castle. The speakers from the 80s are somehow embedded in the ceiling and visible, which is visually more elegant. The tables are very close together, so you sometimes have the waiter's butt half on the table... or in his face. Card payment only from €25. The tip jar is for the entire staff, which I very much welcome. The food is very good, the staff very friendly. However, I would have liked a little more attention from the staff, as they clear away even though one person hasn't finished yet. An empty glass is also only discussed very late.

We went to a knight's dinner with a group. The food and service were excellent. We had a wonderful evening and will be back!

I can only rate the cafe. The waffle with ice cream and wild berries was really extremely tasty. The young woman in service was very nice, friendly and helpful - but was clearly overwhelmed given the number of visitors.

Yesterday I was invited to a very beautiful wedding! And what can I say, I was impressed by the picturesque backdrop and the historical charm of this location. The romantic atmosphere of the castle and the spacious outdoor areas created a magical atmosphere for the festival. The service staff was friendly and very attentive, the food was delicious and the entire event ran smoothly. Blankenstein Castle offers a unique and unforgettable backdrop for special occasions such as weddings. I really enjoyed my stay there and would definitely recommend the location for future events. Thanks again to the entire team for a great evening!

The ambience and service are good. The food was just like that. I had the roulade. The sauce tasted like it came from a bag, the red cabbage like it came from a jar and had been warmed in the microwave. For €26 I would have expected more.

A very nice and atmospheric place with good food and friendly service. In addition, the castle has an observation tower from which you can see the entire panorama of Hattingen and the surrounding area. A great place for special events. I highly recommend it 😊

We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary in the castle today. We had a very nice welcome, a wonderful, very tasty and very plentiful meal, and great service. If you want to experience something really nice, I can only recommend this restaurant. We will definitely come back there. A big thank you to the team

Unfortunately we had stale beer and musty espresso. The waffle was delicious.

I was here with my partner to celebrate our anniversary. The ambience with a view is simply amazing. We also really liked the nice waitress and the food. Starter bread, soup and salad + a main course and dessert. You'll definitely be full afterwards! It was delicious. Unfortunately there are no vegetarian main courses. But the kitchen still conjured up something delicious vegetarian for me. Thank you for the lovely evening. The price was also completely reasonable and cheaper than we expected :)

It couldn't have been better, everything was perfect! I booked the knight's dinner for 23 people for a big birthday. We spent wonderful hours in the fireplace room. The food was very tasty, the drinks were constantly refilled, the service was simply great and Ulenreich the prankster was an absolute highlight with his various performances. Everyone had fun! I would book this meal including juggler again and again.

It was night... 2 or 3 o'clock. My friend and I were there and petted a cat that was really friendly. We haunted there. After our nightly viewing, a woman came up to us and said we weren't supposed to be here at that time. She closed the gate 😅, thank God we were outside, otherwise we would have had to climb 🙈

We were at the castle again. As always, it was a perfect evening! The service was great, the boss was very nice as always and the food was very, very tasty. This time our parents were there and they were thrilled too. The in-laws (from Bremen) now want to visit us more often ;-) We are already looking forward to the next visit!

We went for brunch with the family. Our dog was already provided with water outside. As always, the food was excellent and the entire staff was very friendly and attentive. So an all-round successful trip.

Interesting location. The brunch offer was simply perfect. Large buffet selection. All dishes were presented very well. Everything tasted very good. The service really should get 5 stars. Courteous, friendly and very attentive. The location is simply fully recommended! The only drawback: the parking situation. But after all, it is a castle and if you arrive early you can still see the small town center and enjoy the landscape/view...

Food is good. But views are amazing! Views of Kemnade see and rolling hills from your table would add to taste. Had waffles with ice cream and warm apple compote was very good! Had one of few vegetarian dish Noodles with cheese, onions and mushrooms. It was very filling! Push it down with König Pilsener!
