Grund war ein Spare-Rib Essen in diesem Restaurant. Kulinarisch waren die ribs und die dazu gereichten weiteren Bestandteile einfach Spitze. Das kulinarische Angebot auf der Karte ist vielversprechend! Ebenso die angebotenen Getränke. Auffallend nettes Team und das Ambiente des Restaurants in der Burg ist einfach (beinahe) einzigartig. Das gilt auch für den Aussenbereich des Restaurants in der ehemaiigen Burg! - Hier können auch Feiern von Gesellschaften durchgeführt werden. Das Restaurant ist wirklich einen Besuch wert!

We celebrated our wedding on August 24th, 2024 and were completely satisfied and happy that we chose the location! The service staff, Mr. Müller and Ms. Teschner were all very helpful and committed to making many of our wishes possible for us, for which we are very grateful. We didn't have to worry about our presents late when we went home, nothing came away and everything went smoothly the next day. The free wedding ceremony was beautiful, but maybe parasols or something similar can be put up soon. It should be clear that it will be a very hot day, as some of the guests were sitting in the blazing sun, which made it a bit uncomfortable for them just a little tip. We would get married there again and again! Thank you for everything.

I was able to get to know the location as a photographer at a wedding. Nothing was missing. A great atmosphere, the Müller family, who do a great job with a lot of commitment and fulfill every wish if at all possible. There is also a hard-working, friendly team who also give their all for the guests. Unrestricted recommendation!!!!

It wasn't the service that served us, it was great! It was the old lady who charged us and ruined the whole lovely evening we had in one fell swoop! Their audacity and impudence at us just because we wanted to pay with the card and had put a tip in the can was extremely cheeky. Only cash is true then the saying came up and if she paid with the card she would have to charge €25 instead of €19.40. It's a real shame that some people have to be like that and can spoil the evening like that. That's why we were there last time.

We celebrated our wedding at the castle at the beginning of August. We had booked the “chapel”. It was just perfect! From the first viewing of the location through the process to the wedding, everything went smoothly. Ms. Teschner from the office was available at any time by email or telephone and took care of everything. The preliminary discussion with Mr. Müller Senior was also just great. All of our wishes were never a problem and he showed us many options and took a lot of time for everything. When we arrived on the day of the wedding, everything was perfectly prepared and all special requests were implemented exactly as we had hoped. The professionalism we experienced there was amazing. We can only say thank you and advise everyone to celebrate there!

We celebrated our wedding last weekend with around 130 people and were extremely thrilled. The castle seemed a bit unkempt when we first visited it, but the Müller family's team knew how to present it for our day in perfect light, beautifully detailed and with attention to detail. From the first drink in the afternoon until we were swept out early in the morning it was just great. Not only are we in the throes of love, our friends and families also confirm the following: The food was great, there was nothing to complain about, there wasn't anything empty. The staff is extremely friendly and competent, quick and guest-oriented right up to the last second. The party in the burgkeller was also very happy, especially at the bar. Fantastically beautiful, absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to come and enjoy. (no stress about setting up and dismantling, this truck takes over the location) Btw. The double occupancy (small in tent 1 and large wedding party in tent 2) is optimally implemented so that there are no points of contact - so don't worry here, you can celebrate for yourself here. Big praise to everyone involved and a heartfelt recommendation. We'll definitely see each other there again at the latest for our silver wedding anniversary...

We were able to be part of a wonderful wedding party at Blankenstein Castle. The evening cold/warm buffet left nothing to be desired - excellent first product quality and outstanding workmanship. Never enjoyed a buffet of comparative quality before. Excellent service from on-site staff.

Was here at a wedding. At the beginning the service was attentive, but later it became increasingly overwhelmed. There was no coffee with the cake. Cappuccino was not possible at all. The tents in which the company sat were uncomfortable and later poorly lit. There were only hot plates, which was suboptimal for the cold starters. The food was okay, but I've eaten better and worse. Unfortunately, roast beef wasn't that good. You would have had to go back to the buffet to season it. The location is really nice and you have a good view. By the way, you can't park here. Unfortunately not so great.

We wanted to have lunch there today (brunch)... When we got there we were approached in a very unfriendly and condescending manner by a gentleman (looked like the boss, or someone who has a little more to say there)... He was very arrogant, so we left the lacation immediately

Wir hatten vor die Konfirmation unseres Sohnes dort zu feiern und haben ein Jahr im voraus Kontakt aufgenommen. Man sagte uns, dass wir zu früh dran sind und uns im August melden sollen. Das haben wir getan, um dann eine Absage zu bekommen, da an einen Samstag Hochzeiten bevorzugt werden, da man natürlich mehr daran verdienen kann. Hätte man uns das sofort gesagt, hätten wir bereits woanders einen Termin gebucht. Wir haben mehrmals dort gefeiert aber das ist sehr enttäuschend.

Very pleasant location, large outdoor area with lots of tables and seats, wonderful panoramic view of the Ruhr Valley with various towns. The interior of the Burg Blankenstein restaurant is also very cozy. You just feel good! Service was very accommodating, friendly and helpful, whether indoors or outdoors. A place to feel good.

We celebrated my mother's 90th birthday at the castle in a small circle. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was very friendly and the food was really good. Everyone was very satisfied with their dishes, both visually and in terms of taste, and the consistently good portion sizes were also right for the price and performance. This also applied to dessert. The senior boss sat down with us for a chat at the end. We'd love to come back. Tip: definitely try the bread as a starter.

We wanted something extraordinary for our wedding anniversary. We were very happy to eat at the castle. When we arrived we spent almost 30 minutes looking for a parking space. Afterwards we finally entered the castle and found out that a wedding party was taking up most of the castle grounds. Such information would have been good in advance, we would have preferred to come another time. We couldn't enjoy the castle ambience, too crowded and too warm in the dining room. The food was really tasty and the service was nice, that was the only thing we said was worth it. The rest of us were very disappointed because of the wedding.

We recently celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle. The ambience was beautiful. Decorations, flowers, drinks and food were provided, so we didn't have to worry about much ourselves. The location with the view is unique. The food and drinks could be designed entirely according to our wishes. The food was particularly praised by all guests. The service was also very attentive and extremely friendly. All in all, it was the dream wedding we wanted.

A friend of ours recently celebrated her wedding there. The location is really impressive and the view was beautiful. The weather was good that day too. The food on site was really very good, I would like to give it more stars, there was something for everyone as well as vegans and vegetarians. The service was also good, always friendly and accommodating. There were organizational changes, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The decorations were also very beautifully designed and lovingly prepared.

Despite a reserved table, people were surprised by our visit. After a short wait of around 20 minutes, we were asked what drinks we wanted. After an hour of waiting, the thirst was finally quenched. The waiting time for the ordered food was 2 hours. In addition, a request to exchange a satiety supplement was not fulfilled. The wish was additionally served. The staff sometimes gave the impression that they could handle your excessive demands. The food ordered and served was very tasty, plentiful and fully corresponded to the consumption temperature. The atmosphere and the weather were excellent. The crowning glory was the payment process. Not at the table, no the guest can go to the checkout themselves. Split billing seemed to be new territory for the staff in the form of the boss. The payment process adapted seamlessly to the medieval ambience of the restaurant. Each item had to be entered manually into the cash register. Discussions about the quantity of items consumed were included. Despite the very good quality of the food and the exceptionally good ambience, we will not be visiting this restaurant again. Service and hospitality should look completely different in 2024.

We celebrated our wedding in July 2024 at Blankenstein Castle in the large party location. From the service to the ambience to the food, everything was perfect. The view and ambience in particular were unbeatable.

Was there today by bike, around 5 p.m. Unfortunately, I wasn't served a drink because the beer garden doesn't open until 6 p.m. The service worker then asked her supervisor whether an exception could be made. Answer was no. Really sad. Customer service is different.

We stopped at Blankenstein Castle for dinner. The ambience is extraordinary. You can reach the castle through the town and have a wonderful view of the Ruhr Valley from up there. There are covered outdoor spaces in the castle courtyard. It's quite comfortable to sit there. It is also cozy inside the restaurant. The dishes are very tasty and also rich. The service is courteous and nice. We can highly recommend this location.

Blankenstein Castle is a nice destination. Drink a coffee and a waffle in the sun. If you feel like it you can go up the tower, it's a bit narrow and dirty but the view is great.

We planned a family trip to the castle. There we were denied access to the castle. Not even the children were allowed to look at the castle walls. Castles should be accessible to everyone, especially if opening hours are advertised online. Castles belong in public hands and should not belong to private entrepreneurs who can decide who is allowed into the castle for money and who is not. Especially since the castle probably belongs to the city of Bochum and not to the owner of the restaurant, who presented himself like the ruler of the castle. Giving children such a negative experience after a 1.5 hour journey. Absolutely family unfriendly.

Ganz furchtbare und familienunfreundliche Menschen. Eine Burg zu besichtigen sollte für alle Menschen möglich sein, vorallem wenn Öffnungszeiten angegeben sind, nach denen man sich richtet. Dass dann unserer Familien nach 1,5 Stunden Anreise der Zugang verwehrt wurde und unsere Kinder nicht mal kurz die Burgmauern besichtigen durften, ganz fürchterlich. Burgen sind Allgemeingut sein und gehören in öffentliche Hand, anstatt in die Hände von Bonzen, die diese Burg privatisieren und sie für Privstverandtaltungen teuer zu Verfügung stellen. Ganz schlimm.

We got married at Blankenstein Castle and were absolutely thrilled! The food and service are very, very good, the best we have seen at weddings so far. The location itself is incredible, the view is breathtaking, and the ambience of the castle and the old town of Blankenstein do the rest. We are overjoyed to have gotten married at Blankenstein Castle and would recommend it to everyone!

Delicious food in historic walls

We celebrated our wedding there and it was beautiful! Ms. Teschner and Mr. Müller always had an open ear beforehand and always took time to address all concerns. The service during the celebration was also excellent! The food and the midnight snack were simply delicious. Nothing was left to be desired! The castle also offers a fantastic backdrop with a view of the Ruhr Valley and a medieval ambience. The interior area in the larger location is also just right in size with a bar, dance floor and seating. We would plan a celebration there again at any time ☺️

Went there to have a coffee outside. After a fairly long wait, a young man came and reluctantly agreed to serve us. Afterwards I would have liked to order something else, but no one was approached or showed up. We had to pay inside. This is the second time I've been so disappointed. We're not allowed to get married there either because there aren't 70 of us but only 30...who knows so many people? The reasoning was that only 70 could give us a nice evening. Very disappointing, my friend grew up in Witten, we wanted to get married in the chapel and celebrate at the castle. Then you are so brushed off. Oh, by the way, in September it's probably possible with 30 people... of course the summer is only reserved for people with 70 people... I find something like that very disappointing and somehow we feel like second-class people just because you... doesn't have a big family. Maybe you also think that you don't have the necessary change. Oh, I'm very desperate and sad about this statement.

From the first meeting we noticed that the work here was done with a lot of professionalism and passion as well as transparency in pricing. Extra requests are welcome here. We had the great pleasure of getting married at Blankenstein Castle. What should we say? It was just PERFECT! The beautiful ambience, the free wedding ceremony in the castle courtyard... everything went wonderfully from the first contact to the celebration! It was beautifully decorated, the service was more than friendly and took great care of all the guests and us. The food was to die for. With live cooking, the champagne reception and the snack were beautifully presented. The table decoration with attention to detail! Beautiful view while eating. What we particularly liked was that the weather was uncertain on the day itself and we were able to wait until the last minute to see if we could have the ceremony outside. We were assured that everything could be prepared in 10 minutes. We then decided to have our wedding ceremony outside and were really lucky with the weather. But also thanks to Mr. Müller felt very safe and were not pressured into drawing premature conclusions, so we were able to wait until just before the weather! Our wedding photos at the castle and the grounds are simply unique and we can't stop looking at them. The party in the castle tower was a complete success! All in all a DREAM WEDDING! Nothing special...pretty run down!! Saw it about 20 years ago. better...it was a special place back then!!

A beautiful castle but the ambience in the restaurant is just not right. Lounge/house music is playing, which reflects more of a holiday atmosphere by the sea. I don't expect this style of music in a castle. The speakers from the 80s are somehow embedded in the ceiling and visible, which is visually more elegant. The tables are very close together, so you sometimes have the waiter's butt half on the table... or in his face. Card payment only from €25. The tip jar is for the entire staff, which I very much welcome. The food is very good, the staff very friendly. However, I would have liked a little more attention from the staff, as they clear away even though one person hasn't finished yet. An empty glass is also only discussed very late.

Yesterday I was invited to a very beautiful wedding! And what can I say, I was impressed by the picturesque backdrop and the historical charm of this location. The romantic atmosphere of the castle and the spacious outdoor areas created a magical atmosphere for the festival. The service staff was friendly and very attentive, the food was delicious and the entire event ran smoothly. Blankenstein Castle offers a unique and unforgettable backdrop for special occasions such as weddings. I really enjoyed my stay there and would definitely recommend the location for future events. I can only rate the cafe. The waffle with ice cream and wild berries was really extremely tasty. The young woman in service was very nice, friendly and helpful - but was clearly overwhelmed given the number of visitors.

The ambience and service are good. The food was just like that. I had the roulade. The sauce tasted like it came from a bag, the red cabbage like it came from a jar and had been warmed in the microwave. For €26 I would have expected more.

I was here with my partner to celebrate our anniversary. The ambience with a view is simply amazing. We also really liked the nice waitress and the food. Starter bread, soup and salad + a main course and dessert. You'll definitely be full afterwards! It was delicious. Unfortunately there are no vegetarian main courses. But the kitchen still conjured up something delicious vegetarian for me. Thank you for the lovely evening. The price was also completely reasonable and cheaper than we expected :)

It couldn't have been better, everything was perfect! I booked the knight's dinner for 23 people for a big birthday. We spent wonderful hours in the fireplace room. The food was very tasty, the drinks were constantly refilled, the service was simply great and Ulenreich the prankster was an absolute highlight with his various performances. Everyone had fun! I would book this meal including juggler again and again.

It was night... 2 or 3 o'clock. My friend and I were there and petted a cat that was really friendly. We haunted there. After our nightly viewing, a woman came up to us and said we weren't supposed to be here at that time. She closed the gate 😅, thank God we were outside, otherwise we would have had to climb 🙈

We were at the castle again. As always, it was a perfect evening! The service was great, the boss was very nice as always and the food was very, very tasty. This time our parents were there and they were thrilled too. The in-laws (from Bremen) now want to visit us more often ;-) We are already looking forward to the next visit!

Food is good. But views are amazing! Views of Kemnade see and rolling hills from your table would add to taste. Had waffles with ice cream and warm apple compote was very good! Had one of few vegetarian dish Noodles with cheese, onions and mushrooms. It was very filling! Push it down with König Pilsener!

Yesterday was a beautiful summer day, the three of us sat in the beer garden. The atmosphere here at the castle is very nice. The boss and her staff are very friendly and the service is great. The dishes were served quickly and hot. It was a nice evening.

Interesting location. The brunch offer was simply perfect. Large buffet selection. All dishes were presented very well. Everything tasted very good. The service really should get 5 stars. Courteous, friendly and very attentive. The location is simply fully recommended! The only drawback: the parking situation. But after all, it is a castle and if you arrive early you can still see the small town center and enjoy the landscape/view...

Today we were here in the beautiful beer garden for the first time this year. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with delicious food in an atmospheric ambience. Big praise to the kitchen for the delicious food and the attentive service staff, who were always approachable and friendly. The boss is the good soul in the house. You can feel that working here is fun. We always enjoy coming here.

Absolutely recommended! We went there to eat ribs and were so happy! 1. Super nice reception by the Grand Dame of the house 2. Very nice ambience 3. Very nice service from the Grand Dame's granddaughter and her colleague 4. Really excellent menu consisting of starters (bread with dip), salad variations (three kinds) and spare ribs with baked potatoes. Everything very tasty and fresh. 5. Quite affordable prices. In summary: A restaurant where you feel welcome and comfortable. Hospitality in high culture. Even if, like we did that evening, you come with a Groupon voucher.

The spare ribs meal was once again very good. Very good value for money.

We were there with five people for a knight's dinner. The food was very tasty and fresh. The service was super friendly. We were also informed without having to ask about a small and very manageable delay between two courses. Really good. Unfortunately, most of the groups there are in civilian clothes and with lots of cell phones. Something that you simply have to expect and that of course you cannot blame the restaurant for. The minimal drawback was that the portions of the individual courses were really generous. As a normal eater, you have to hold back at the beginning, otherwise you won't end up with the dessert. The corridors could be made a little smaller. All in all it deserves 5 stars.

Blankenstein has become a beautiful little town. Since I know it differently, I was very happy for this place. We enjoyed the wonderful view from the castle.

A wonderful atmosphere with nice friendly people and great food. And the wine...I just say frills, frills, frills...delicious... We will definitely come back...

We celebrated our 40th birthday at Blankenstein Castle in winter 2023/2024. From the first conversation and inspection of the premises with Mr. Müller Senior to the last meeting (1 week) before the party, everything went smoothly without any complications. You immediately felt like you were in good, professional hands. At this point, thanks also to Ms. Teschner, who was always open to questions on the phone. And the party – it was simply fantastic! We chose the “smaller” location (tent + small castle chapel) and celebrated there in the evening with almost 90 people. From the preparations to the decoration and the reception of the guests, everything was top notch. The food was served on time and guests also raved about the quality of the buffet. All in all, we had a really great celebration, which was accompanied by very good service staff throughout the evening! Here too, big praise and a big thank you!!! The atmosphere in the back dance area was great and provided the best conditions for a great party atmosphere. The castle put us in touch with DJ Mino and Gentleman Dee (saxophonist), both of whom know the premises very well, and here too everything went very smoothly in preparation. Both created a great atmosphere - highly recommended. We would do it the same way again and would like to thank those responsible at Blankenstein Castle for our great festival.

I celebrated my birthday there. Great location, good food, friendly and attentive service... and most importantly... my guests were all satisfied. We look forward to the next celebration there.

Unfortunately I can't give any stars at all. I don't even know where to start: 1. Unexpectedly, at our Christmas party, instead of in the beautiful vaulted cellar (which would have created the atmosphere), we sat together in the winter garden with 17 people and about 10 other people and froze our asses off. Because we had to give the jacket away, otherwise it was too tight. 2. The various "courses" partly consisting of raw vegetables and fruit (blunt knife, most likely unwashed vegetables and fruit, the waiter couldn't give any information about it...) was terrible! The herb MARGARINE was just disgusting and the garlic bread lacked any trace. The lukewarm sausage with skin in the pot was more for... I don't know who? The dessert, which we had changed to Kaiserschmarren for an extra charge, tasted bland, unsweetened without any fat and carelessly slapped on (the attempt to cover up with powdered sugar that it had nothing to do with Kaiserschmarren was unsuccessful) was inedible. The hefty price of €46 for this “multi-course” thing really blew me away (WITHOUT DRINKS) No drinking flat rate possible! Be careful, like many things on the website you can't tell. If only one person in the group doesn't want a drinking flat, there is no flat for everyone else, unbelievable, impossible to understand. I know I was definitely ripped off (that will NEVER happen to me again)... I won't say many words about the unfriendly, unattentive service. But for me and some other colleagues the following night was hell, plagued by intestinal cramps and diarrhea, we didn't know what was happening to us... we will advise everyone I know who likes to eat well not to go there. ATTENTION PRICING VERY OPAQUE AND NO RECEIPT/INVOICE RECEIVED!!!

Spent an extraordinary evening in a great atmosphere with a good mood and good food. Would love to come back.

The knight's meal is simply great, it was 12 years ago and it still is.

Been there 2nd time for a knight's dinner, great for something different. I can only recommend it 👍👍👍😋😋😋
