This is the second time we have taken part in the Christmas buffet here and we are once again absolutely thrilled. The food is wonderful and the staff is just great... The decoration is a dream and the view is simply beautiful... Thank you and we look forward to 2024 We also recommend the BBQ spareribs, which are available all year round. . LG

Were at the knight's dinner The service and ambience were great as was the food But two things didn't work at all The manager of the restaurant told us that another birthday party had booked a medieval artist and our table, which was right next to it, had to pay 10 euros per person for this artist, which is really bad Then we asked if we could eat what was left of our knight's meal with us The answer was only the meat could be taken away on the grounds that it would not be a take-away restaurant and that there would be new laws regarding this. We couldn't quite understand it. In addition, the television, where a fireplace was shown on the screen, was switched off early Furthermore, one of us found out that the boss had shit on the staff. Unfortunately it wasn't that great to see.

The ambience and the food was very good. I found it strange that you can't hang your jacket over chairs and you have to put it on the windowsill. I find it very questionable how leftover food is handled. You can take meat with you and not anything else. It's then thrown away even though you'd rather eat it at home. I have no understanding whatsoever.

All in all a very successful evening. The only thing that wasn't nice of the old lady was to ask for a double tip.

We celebrated our Christmas party there with a knight's banquet. The quality of the food was very good and the staff was very nice and attentive. Small criticism: When I book a knight's meal in a castle, you don't necessarily expect to sit in a pagoda tent that is moderately heated. You could have saved yourself the additionally booked juggler. Juggle once with 4 balls and a number from the magic box for 10 year olds. Here I know much better players from medieval markets. Unfortunately there were no drink menus on the tables, so neither the selection nor the prices were transparent.

We celebrated our parents' 60th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. We felt welcome and cared for from the first minute. Special requests were addressed without any problems. Our waitress was courteous, quick and very friendly. The food was very good. The salmon and grilled beef melted in your mouth. The juggler was also just great and delighted us with a colorful program of magic, singing, juggling and celebrated our anniversaries. Overall, a very successful evening that we will not forget and will definitely repeat.

We were actually there for a knight's dinner, but apart from a throw with a symbol there was nothing to indicate a knight's dinner. At the beginning there was a basket with raw vegetables and boiled eggs. Since it wasn't empty, we asked if we could take the things with us. The answer was no! I asked why not and that hopefully the vegetables wouldn't be thrown away. The answer was, no, the employees take it home with them. Do we have to understand that now? They are not allowed to bring open food, even though we have paid for it. And even so, I didn't think the food was that great, there wasn't enough fish and meat. Although there was still enough in the display, this was unfortunately not offered by the service, which was unfortunately rarely available. Although everything was pre-ordered, after half an hour there was no more mead. We imagined something different when it came to a knight's meal. Have done this several times. We had to wait 45 minutes to pay our bill, despite repeated requests.

I went to this great restaurant for the first time with friends. I can only report positive things, really nice place to spend nice, cozy hours. We chose ribs. I've never had ribs so tender. We went to Blankenstein Castle for a knight's dinner and had a wonderful evening🤩 We were warmly welcomed with mulled wine and since we were a little early, the table fire and the heater were already turned on for us outside. Very, very attentive! Our table for two was in the fireplace room, which was really rustic and pleasantly warm. There was a robe hanging over each chair, which we of course put on. We felt like we were transported straight to the Middle Ages😊 You can choose from different menus in advance. We decided on the “King's meal” with a large vegetable basket, a delicious soup, salmon, beef, potatoes, red cabbage and Kaiserschmarn. It was so incredibly delicious! Our waitress was very attentive and provided us with excellent food and drink throughout the evening. Thanks to our drinks flat rate, we were able to try out many of the wines on the wine list. We can say they are all so delicious! The beer was also👌 At the end we were personally bid farewell by the very kind boss. An unforgettably beautiful evening. Many thanks to the whole team. We'll definitely be back.

We were there with 12 people for a knight's dinner. The food, including the large fresh vegetable baskets, was fantastic. An all-round successful evening with very good and friendly hospitality.

Wir waren dieses mal mit einer größeren Gruppe dort und saßen in einem gläsernen Pavillon, wo es zwischenzeitlich recht kühl war. Was wir bis Ankunft nicht wussten, war, dass auch eine weitere Gruppe dort parallel untergebracht wurde. Diese hatte einen Gaukler bestellt. Unser Gruppengastgeber wurde telefonisch kontaktiert, es sei ja blöd, wenn der Gaukler nur die eine Gruppe bespaße. Hier entstanden dann ungeplante Mehrkosten. Der Gaukler war nett, aber unnötig. Vor Ort informierte man uns, wir müssten entweder alle eine Getränkeflaterate für 20€ dazubuchen, oder keiner könne von dieser Option Gebrauch machen. Man wurde mehr oder weniger unter Druck gesetzt sich an dieser Aktion ebenfalls mit Mehrkosten zu beteiligen. Der Hauptgang für Vegetarier bestand aus 3 gefüllten Champignons und einer Ofenkartoffel. Es war lecker. Aber für mich keine 33 € wert. Der Abend hat am Ende rund 60€ gekostet. Das war im Vorhinein nicht klar. Ich würde nicht wieder hingehen. Das Personal war aber sehr nett.

The evening also dragged on longer than necessary. After more than 4.5 hours, we were still allowed to stand in line to pay.

We did the knight's dinner with a group of friends on Saturday and it was a very nice experience! Delicious and very fun! Even though all the tables were occupied and there was a lot of activity, I always had a drink and the food came at good intervals, was plentiful and really tasty! We were there yesterday for the knight's banquet. The minced meat was not cooked through and was still raw inside. After telling the staff this, we were given what was supposed to be a warm meat sausage. However, it was still ice cold on the inside and unfortunately not edible. When we told this to the staff (older lady with short chin blonde hair), they just said that they are only human and that they can't do magic. This will definitely be our last visit here!

Last night we were there with the family of 6 people to eat the knight's meal. First we were put in a side room because the restaurant, i.e. the main room, was already full. That was a shame. Then to the food. The second course was stuffed peppers. Unfortunately, they were inedible. The minced meat was still raw and cold on the inside. We complained about it. As compensation we were then given hot meat sausage. That would have been fine, but even this wasn't warmed up properly. Cold on the inside too. This whole complaint was handled by a cheeky old lady, who wanted to make it clear to us that the kitchen has no space or time to deal with such incidents. She then wanted to send us off with schnapps... I thought she would at least accommodate us a little with the price. For us it was the last visit there. Unfortunately, this cheeky old woman contributed to it with her manner. ...

Wir waren heute zu dem Rittermahl mit der Familie vor Ort.Leider sind wir von dem Essen und von der älteren frechen Dame die dort arbeitet total enttäuscht. Bei dem Mahl war der 2.Gang gefüllte Paprikas mit Gehacktes.Das Fleisch war innen noch ganz roh.Wir reklamierten das.Zur Entschädigung bekamen wir dann heiße Fleischwurst.Wäre ja in Ordnung gewesen,wenn diese dann auch heiß gewesen wäre.Von innen richtig kalt. Das reklamierten wir dann wieder.Zur Antwort bekamen wir dann nur von dieser frechen alten Dame,das kein Platz und keine Zeit war die Wurst richtig zu erwärmen. Als Entschädigung wollte sie uns Schnaps geben.Sehr merkwürdig. Aber immer noch günstiger als etwas Preisnachlass zu gewähren. Also wir haben uns echt nicht für ernst genommen und nicht wohl gefühlt .Es ist dort Fließband Arbeit.Die armen Mitarbeiter die von dieser Frau rumkomandiert werden Weiter empfehlen werden wir das bestimmt nicht !!!!!!

My boyfriend and I have visited this restaurant several times because we were often able to get a voucher for ribs from Groupon. The food is delicious every time. As a starter we had a ciabatta trio for €2 extra, plus herb curd as a spread and fresh cherry tomatoes. We were told very transparently in advance that this would cost an extra €2. Every bread tasted really delicious. For the main course, we each had the homemade ribs with a baked potato, sour cream and coleslaw. The ribs: A dream, tender meat and there was extra sauce for those who like a little more sauce on the ribs. The potato was also buttery and tasted great, as did the coleslaw. For dessert I had the Tartufo Limoncello and my partner had the chocolate cake. You could have sat down for the desserts, they are that delicious <3. The service was very attentive and friendly. When the glasses were empty, you were immediately asked if you would like to drink something else. For the ribs there was also an extra bowl for the bones and refreshing towels for the hands. Serving was also really quick. So Toppi! The ambience is incomparable as the restaurant is located in an old castle tower. You really think you are sitting in a medieval restaurant. We really like going here because the food, the service and the ambience are great. We highly recommend the restaurant. :)

We wanted to spend a nice evening in the castle, but instead we were put in a glass box, even though we had booked six months in advance. If we had been informed of this beforehand, we would NOT have made a reservation there. The disappointment was great. We won't book there again, it's a shame

I think it's a very nice place to visit. Dishes from the charcoal grill, à la carte dishes and knight's dinners are offered. The view is great and around the castle, the small streets and paths as well as the adjacent park invite you to take long walks.

We celebrated our wedding in July at Blankenstein Castle in the smaller location. From the start we felt very comfortable and in good hands. In order to design our wedding according to our ideas, the castle team responded to all wishes. Communication was always flawless. At the wedding itself, the food was great and was always freshly refilled. The service always had everything in mind and gave us and our guests a unique day. The place is really good and peaceful! They serve nice food and also have a small party hall. I really liked the small fires near the table to create warmth. The place is really quite and superb to go with the family. You can also climb up a little and see the nice view. Weather was really sunny and it is best to visit in such weather as it is in the open environment. The place is must visit, when near to Bochum!

This is a great atmosphere. We were more than thrilled. The food is great and I can't say anything negative about the price. A very nice staff and a great view. We had the rib menu. I can only recommend going there if you're hungry. We will eat there more often.

Great Borg! My journey there was very inspiring and had a big impact on me! I used to be there often as a child and the charm has been retained to this day. The sight of these magnificent walls makes me open my eyes in delight every time. Beer tastes better on the Borg than anywhere else. Top recommendation! The excursion destination that you have to see once in your life, because this castle bears witness to a great, magnificent age and still conveys these values ​​today. We were here with 3 people. We have known the castle for a long time and it was actually our first time in the restaurant. The food was delicious, even if it was a bit too heavy on cream. We had zander fillet, pork fillet and cheese spaetzle with chanterelles. The portions were generous and we went home full. The service was very nice and attentive, the ambience is simply great. We celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle last week. It was the best day of our lives, thanks to the castle staff! :-) We were already sure that everything would be perfect and that's exactly how it was. The advice in advance was really great, everything was decorated and set exactly as we imagined. The service was great and we receive positive feedback every day about the wonderful food. Having been to a few weddings ourselves, we can say that both the staff and the food are truly sensational. You rarely get such good quality, preparation and selection. Blankenstein Castle really has it all! ☺️ It's a shame that weddings only happen once in a lifetime. We were there on Saturday to make my best friend's daughter's 18th birthday very special. For the first time there, for the first time a knight's dinner and what can you say: it was really a celebration! The ambience, the service, the food, the program... We celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle. We had a wonderful day because the castle is really a fantastic location for a wedding and overall the team did a good job on the wedding day. The food and decoration were also very successful. However, making arrangements in advance was sometimes a bit difficult, so we cannot fully recommend the location. We found it tedious that there was no brochure or something similar with suggestions for food, but that we were asked by email what we would like to eat without us knowing what was available. This resulted in an unnecessarily long email exchange. We also asked twice whether there were vegan options and both times the response was an absolute no go for us in 2024. The first time we were told that we wouldn't take part in such a "circus". The second time we were asked how we would imagine it to be, we didn't even know how to find the vegan guest. When we then replied that other locations also managed to offer vegan options, it was assumed that they were just pretending that the dishes were vegan. After a few minutes of discussion, we agreed to prepare a separate dish for the vegan guest that they could pick up directly from the chef. The conversation was very unpleasant for us and we found the behavior not very customer-oriented. Communication was also difficult in other areas. For example, we were once overcharged €1000, for which no apology was even given when we pointed it out. In addition, during a preliminary discussion two months before the wedding, it was suddenly said that the DJ, who didn't yet know the location, had to come by first because the system was so complicated. After our DJ called the castle himself, it suddenly happened without him having to come by first (which would have been difficult due to the further journey). On the day of the wedding itself, some guests had to wait quite a long time for their drinks during the meal. One of the waiters told us that there weren't enough waiters assigned for our number of guests. We also didn't like the fact that during our wedding reception a strange couple who were also interested in the location were shown around without us being asked or informed about it. This was also offered to us at the time, but we didn't take advantage of it.

We celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle a week ago. In short: it couldn't have been nicer. The location was beautifully prepared despite the varied weather. Everything that was previously promised was kept - and to be honest, exceeded. The castle is fortunate to have a staff who naturally look after all guests in a reserved but attentive and diligent manner. The food was great - many of our guests asked us about it afterwards. Transparent costs are certainly still an important point. We previously received an invoice and that is exactly what was paid. There were no hidden costs. Finally, we would like to mention that everything was done to implement our ideas and wishes. We definitely only want to get married once, but we would do it here again and would highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you!

Grund war ein Spare-Rib Essen in diesem Restaurant. Kulinarisch waren die ribs und die dazu gereichten weiteren Bestandteile einfach Spitze. Das kulinarische Angebot auf der Karte ist vielversprechend! Ebenso die angebotenen Getränke. Auffallend nettes Team und das Ambiente des Restaurants in der Burg ist einfach (beinahe) einzigartig. Das gilt auch für den Aussenbereich des Restaurants in der ehemaiigen Burg! - Hier können auch Feiern von Gesellschaften durchgeführt werden. Das Restaurant ist wirklich einen Besuch wert!

We celebrated our wedding on August 24th, 2024 and were completely satisfied and happy that we chose the location! The service staff, Mr. Müller and Ms. Teschner were all very helpful and committed to making many of our wishes possible for us, for which we are very grateful. We didn't have to worry about our presents late when we went home, nothing came away and everything went smoothly the next day. The free wedding ceremony was beautiful, but maybe parasols or something similar can be put up soon. It should be clear that it will be a very hot day, as some of the guests were sitting in the blazing sun, which made it a bit uncomfortable for them just a little tip. It wasn't the service that served us, it was great! It was the old lady who charged us and ruined the whole lovely evening we had in one fell swoop! Their audacity and impudence at us just because we wanted to pay with the card and had put a tip in the can was extremely cheeky. Only cash is true then the saying came up and if she paid with the card she would have to charge €25 instead of €19.40. It's a real shame that some people have to be like that and can spoil the evening like that. That's why we were there last time.

From the first viewing of the location through the process to the wedding, everything went smoothly. Ms. Teschner from the office was available at any time by email or telephone and took care of everything. The preliminary discussion with Mr. Müller Senior was also just great. All of our wishes were never a problem and he showed us many options and took a lot of time for everything. When we arrived on the day of the wedding, everything was perfectly prepared and all special requests were implemented exactly as we had hoped. The professionalism we experienced there was amazing. We can only say thank you and advise everyone to celebrate there!

The castle seemed a bit unkempt when we first visited it, but the Müller family's team knew how to present it for our day in perfect light, beautifully detailed and with attention to detail. From the first drink in the afternoon until we were swept out early in the morning it was just great. Not only are we in the throes of love, our friends and families also confirm the following: The food was great, there was nothing to complain about, there wasn't anything empty. The staff is extremely friendly and competent, quick and guest-oriented right up to the last second. The party in the burgkeller was also very happy, especially at the bar. Fantastically beautiful, absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to come and enjoy. (no stress about setting up and dismantling, this truck takes over the location) Btw. The double occupancy (small in tent 1 and large wedding party in tent 2) is optimally implemented so that there are no points of contact - so don't worry here, you can celebrate for yourself here. Big praise to everyone involved and a heartfelt recommendation. We'll definitely see each other there again at the latest for our silver wedding anniversary...

Was here at a wedding. At the beginning the service was attentive, but later it became increasingly overwhelmed. There was no coffee with the cake. Cappuccino was not possible at all. The tents in which the company sat were uncomfortable and later poorly lit. There were only hot plates, which was suboptimal for the cold starters. The food was okay, but I've eaten better and worse. Unfortunately, roast beef wasn't that good. You would have had to go back to the buffet to season it. The location is really nice and you have a good view. By the way, you can't park here. Unfortunately not so great.

Wir hatten vor die Konfirmation unseres Sohnes dort zu feiern und haben ein Jahr im voraus Kontakt aufgenommen. Man sagte uns, dass wir zu früh dran sind und uns im August melden sollen. Das haben wir getan, um dann eine Absage zu bekommen, da an einen Samstag Hochzeiten bevorzugt werden, da man natürlich mehr daran verdienen kann. Hätte man uns das sofort gesagt, hätten wir bereits woanders einen Termin gebucht. Wir haben mehrmals dort gefeiert aber das ist sehr enttäuschend.

Very pleasant location, large outdoor area with lots of tables and seats, wonderful panoramic view of the Ruhr Valley with various towns. The interior of the Burg Blankenstein restaurant is also very cozy. You just feel good! Service was very accommodating, friendly and helpful, whether indoors or outdoors. A place to feel good.

We celebrated my mother's 90th birthday at the castle in a small circle. The atmosphere was very nice, the service was very friendly and the food was really good. Everyone was very satisfied with their dishes, both visually and in terms of taste, and the consistently good portion sizes were also right for the price and performance. This also applied to dessert. The senior boss sat down with us for a chat at the end. We'd love to come back. Tip: definitely try the bread as a starter.

We wanted something extraordinary for our wedding anniversary. We were very happy to eat at the castle. When we arrived we spent almost 30 minutes looking for a parking space. Afterwards we finally entered the castle and found out that a wedding party was taking up most of the castle grounds. Such information would have been good in advance, we would have preferred to come another time. We couldn't enjoy the castle ambience, too crowded and too warm in the dining room. The food was really tasty and the service was nice, that was the only thing we said was worth it. The rest of us were very disappointed because of the wedding.

Nice brunch day, not very cheap but you have to treat yourself sometimes.

An diesem Tag gab es u.a.das Angebot "SPARE RIBS" - 6 Personen haben dieses Angebot gewählt - 2 Freunde haben anderweitig ausgesucht. ALLE waren von der Location, vom hervorragenden Service, vom Drumherum und nicht zuletzt von den ausgewählten Speisen und Getränken sehr angetan. We recently celebrated our wedding at Blankenstein Castle. The ambience was beautiful. Decorations, flowers, drinks and food were provided, so we didn't have to worry about much ourselves. The location with the view is unique. The food and drinks could be designed entirely according to our wishes. The food was particularly praised by all guests. The service was also very attentive and extremely friendly. All in all, it was the dream wedding we wanted.

A friend of ours recently celebrated her wedding there. The location is really impressive and the view was beautiful. The weather was good that day too. The food on site was really very good, I would like to give it more stars, there was something for everyone as well as vegans and vegetarians. The service was also good, always friendly and accommodating. There were organizational changes, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The decorations were also very beautifully designed and lovingly prepared.

Despite a reserved table, people were surprised by our visit. After a short wait of around 20 minutes, we were asked what drinks we wanted. After an hour of waiting, the thirst was finally quenched. The waiting time for the ordered food was 2 hours. In addition, a request to exchange a satiety supplement was not fulfilled. The wish was additionally served. The staff sometimes gave the impression that they could handle your excessive demands. The food ordered and served was very tasty, plentiful and fully corresponded to the consumption temperature. The atmosphere and the weather were excellent. The crowning glory was the payment process. Not at the table, no the guest can go to the checkout themselves. Split billing seemed to be new territory for the staff in the form of the boss. The payment process adapted seamlessly to the medieval ambience of the restaurant. Each item had to be entered manually into the cash register. Discussions about the quantity of items consumed were included. Despite the very good quality of the food and the exceptionally good ambience, we will not be visiting this restaurant again. Service and hospitality should look completely different in 2024.

We celebrated our wedding in July 2024 at Blankenstein Castle in the large party location. From the service to the ambience to the food, everything was perfect. The view and ambience in particular were unbeatable.

Was there today by bike, around 5 p.m. Unfortunately, I wasn't served a drink because the beer garden doesn't open until 6 p.m. The service worker then asked her supervisor whether an exception could be made. Answer was no. Really sad. Customer service is different.

We stopped at Blankenstein Castle for dinner. The ambience is extraordinary. You can reach the castle through the town and have a wonderful view of the Ruhr Valley from up there. There are covered outdoor spaces in the castle courtyard. It's quite comfortable to sit there. It is also cozy inside the restaurant. The dishes are very tasty and also rich. The service is courteous and nice. We can highly recommend this location.

Beautiful place, delicious food and a pleasant feeling

Blankenstein Castle is a nice destination. Drink a coffee and a waffle in the sun. If you feel like it you can go up the tower, it's a bit narrow and dirty but the view is great.

We planned a family trip to the castle. There we were denied access to the castle. Not even the children were allowed to look at the castle walls. Castles should be accessible to everyone, especially if opening hours are advertised online. Castles belong in public hands and should not belong to private entrepreneurs who can decide who is allowed into the castle for money and who is not. Especially since the castle probably belongs to the city of Bochum and not to the owner of the restaurant, who presented himself like the ruler of the castle. Giving children such a negative experience after a 1.5 hour journey. Absolutely family unfriendly.

Ganz furchtbare und familienunfreundliche Menschen. Eine Burg zu besichtigen sollte für alle Menschen möglich sein, vorallem wenn Öffnungszeiten angegeben sind, nach denen man sich richtet. Dass dann unserer Familien nach 1,5 Stunden Anreise der Zugang verwehrt wurde und unsere Kinder nicht mal kurz die Burgmauern besichtigen durften, ganz fürchterlich. Burgen sind Allgemeingut sein und gehören in öffentliche Hand, anstatt in die Hände von Bonzen, die diese Burg privatisieren und sie für Privstverandtaltungen teuer zu Verfügung stellen. Ganz schlimm.

Great location, very good food and non-alcoholic beer on tap

We got married at Blankenstein Castle and were absolutely thrilled! The food and service are very, very good, the best we have seen at weddings so far. The location itself is incredible, the view is breathtaking, and the ambience of the castle and the old town of Blankenstein do the rest. We are overjoyed to have gotten married at Blankenstein Castle and would recommend it to everyone!

Thanks to the whole team for the beautiful/perfect wedding celebration. It was an unforgettable evening. The service, the food, the ambience and the atmosphere are simply great!
