There is nothing to criticize at all. It tasted good and was beautifully prepared and the service was very nice.

The food is genuinely good- not outstanding but good quality, hearty and filling. It’s augmented by the fantastic service and the incredibly welcoming atmosphere and ambience.

Great atmosphere for anyone who values ​​hospitality and simplicity. Food was super tasty. You eat with your hands, i.e. without cutlery. Price-performance ratio is absolutely appropriate for a big city like Berlin.

Really a really great atmosphere and warm staff. You feel completely welcomed - even though we didn't have a reservation and it was really well attended on a Saturday evening. The food was terrific, a new taste experience - simply delicious. We'll be back :-)

Food is very good. I only know Ethiopian cuisine from Washington, DC, (I have never been to Ethiopia) and Bejte Ethiopia compares to the best I had there. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The furnishings are not high-end and chic, but exactly that makes the restaurant cozy and authentic. I highly recommend them and will visit again soon.

The food was very good in a nice atmosphere and they created an interesting map with information about the country. Very nice employees! Unfortunately I found it a bit cold, the heaters were off, there was no toilet paper/drying paper in the toilet - but based on the reviews, that doesn't seem to be the rule. It's worth it!

Everything is exquisite! Delicious honey wine, amazing coffee, and the dessert is an extraordinary surprise made of almond, dates, sesame. The service is ok, but the food makes up for it.

It’s dreamland in here, cannot recommend the lentil soup enough (bowls are small so get two at LEAST!) their house tea is amazing and everyone there was just lovely

Scovato nella zona in cui alloggiamo in albergo per evitare di trovarci poi in mezzo alla battaglia di botti e scoppi del capodanno tedesco, questo ristorantino etiope dall'aria piuttosto dimessa, collocato a pochi passi dalla stazione della metropolitana U-2 di Nollendorfplatz, si è rivelato una scelta eccellente. Ovviamente non ha niente a che vedere con i locali di classe, assomiglia più ad un caffè che ad un ristorante vero e proprio, ma il cibo che offre è copioso, delizioso e a prezzo modico (32 euro un luculliano mix carnivoro e vegetariano). Data l'ormai lunga esperienza che ho della cucina del Corno d'Africa, provato in vari paesi (ohimè, non in loco), mi sento di dire che Bejte è ai primi posti in questo campo. Fra l'altro, molto buoni erano anche il tipico vino al miele, servito nella caratteristica caraffina, gli unti e saporiti sambussa e i due cocktails ordinati. Il tutto, con bicchiere di vino e acqua, è costato, per due, 75 euro. E il gentilissimo personale ha offerto lo spumante della mezzanotte. Particolare qui non secondario: si può pagare con carta di credito, evitando il seccante rito del prelievo di contanti al bancomat imposto da molti altri locali.

Were here before Christmas for a Christmas party. The staff is very nice and overall everything seems authentic and simple. We had to wait quite a long time for the food, which could have been better. The dishes and plates were good, but personally not really outstanding. Whether vegan/vegetarian or with meat, there is something for everyone. Prices for drinks are quite expensive at times.

Place that seemed friendly, with acceptable but heavy food and very little meat for €30. The problem was also that they charged me €5 for a glass of water, they didn't even bring me the bottle and when I asked they told me that the bottle costs €9. I have never paid so much for a glass of water

As the child of an Ethiopian mother, I can say this is some of the best Ethiopian food you can get! Authentic and delicious! 10/10 reccomend, the best Ethiopian restaurant in Germany by far!

It was my first time trying Ethiopian and in general African food and I really liked it! Me and my friends were lucky enough to meet the owner of this place, who is a charming Ethiopian lady. It turned out she speaks Polish which was surprsing! We had a lovely chat after dinner. Disclaimer: I'm Polish :) This place is worth of visiting :)

Bejte is our first address when we want to eat Ethiopian food in Berlin. It is very cozy and warm and also child-friendly. There is really delicious and diverse food, even for vegetarians. Tej and Buna (honey wine + coffee) are also highly recommended. We can only recommend it.

One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin. I have to go there at least once a month. We always order some Sambusa, the vegan platter with extra injera, Dju-dju beer (passion fruit is my favorite) and the amazing coffee. (The lentil soup is also fantastic). They have the best injera in town, so be careful, it’s addicting!!

Between the Bülowstr. stops. and Nollendorfplatz is where Betje-Ethiopia is located. The service was extremely courteous and the atmosphere is very inviting. There are also outdoor spaces. The mixed vegetarian platter that I ordered came very quickly and tasted fantastic. The homemade honey wine is also highly recommended. In my opinion, price-performance was right. Clear recommendation!

Terrible service …. Waited 50 mins for food that never arrived and they told us it will take longer.. we will get it after three more tables .. didn’t even have the courtesy to make drinks on the house .. the place looks nice but never got to experience the food as we left since we could not wait any longer ..

I went here with my friend, the food was delicious, the atmosphere and service were good. But after we ordered. They brought the food after 1 hour and 20 minutes. This was very disappointing and if you plan on going there, be sure to grab some snacks. because you will die if you are hungry

We were curious and went there for our mother's birthday. The service was super friendly and very attentive. Our mother received an original cloth (made of linen or something?) as a gift and was very happy. We were given a choice of mixed platters and lamb and left the choice to the restaurant. It was authentic. Some things were unusual and the young people didn't like everything.🤣 I found the lamb and chicken dishes delicious and would order them again on my next visit. Conclusion: Authentic, friendly, affordable and definitely worth a visit. If you like African cuisine, you will feel at home here.

On our last visit to Berlin we went on a culinary journey and went to the Ethiopian restaurant Betje-Ethiopia. From the welcome, the typical drinks and of course the authentic main course, we really felt like we were in Ethiopia 🇪🇹! Highly recommended for those who don't always want the same culinary standard!

The food was tasty! Can definitely recommend the vegetarian Sambusak and the vegetarian platter.

The slowest and most chaotic service in all of Berlin. Waiting time for the order from 20 minutes with three reminders. Waiting times for each dish range from 45 minutes to 60 minutes and sometimes longer. Waiting time for a cup of tea 20 minutes with three reminders. All orders are mixed up. There is no invoice before payment. There were items on the invoice that were not ordered. The food tastes good. Nothing to say about the ambience as we sat outside. Prices have risen noticeably recently.

I have never waited so long for food! 1 and a half hours for food to arrive at our table. It could be because it’s Friday but this just isn’t acceptable. They were able to serve only 1 table every 15 minutes!

It may be my taste, but I didn't find the dishes particularly interesting. It's rather very simple and relatively expensive, considering there isn't much on the plate other than the sauce. I can't say much about the ambience since we sat outside. It was very tight. But the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't necessarily come back. It wasn't terrible, but for the money I'd rather go somewhere else.

Unfortunately the quality has declined. Anyone looking for a short trip to Adis is well served here.

Following Google recommendations, we found this Ethiopian, where we had an excellent meal. We ordered the plate that mixes vegetables and meat, for two. Before we ordered the 3 samosas. Wine with honey and mango beer. Everything was delicious and served very kindly. I recommend anyone looking for this type of food and experience to stop by.

I had dinner at Bejte-Ethiopia with a friend and we ordered a non-vegetarian combo for 2 people. This was my first time eating Ethiopian food so I cannot vouch for authenticity, but to me it tasted quite good, perhaps a way to describe the food would be that it’s somewhat similar to certain Indian curry dishes. Their special coffee was also very nice. I liked the decor, atmosphere and the friendly personnel. The 1-star reduction is due to the service being extremely slow, unfortunately. Luckily my friend and I weren’t in a rush so it was an overall positive dining experience. Quick note: you have to eat everything with your hands, so it can get a bit messy. This isn’t a criticism as it’s the traditional way to eat Ethiopian food, just be aware and wash your hands well prior.

Very tasty food. My little one knocked over his cocoa and broke the glass and we got quick help and a new cocoa for free, really sweet. Freshly roasted coffee and popcorn for the children are served. A great evening, thank you very much.

We had dinner at this restaurant because we wanted to try Ethiopian cuisine for the first time. Unfortunately I didn't like the food at all, the bread was sour and in my opinion it also "ruined" all the dishes that were placed on it. I repeat, it was the first time I ate Ethiopian so maybe it's just my personal taste given that the place is also well reviewed.

The food was ok, but it wasn't served with salad like I've seen in other restaurants for years to tone down the spiciness. My companion asked if you could swap beef for chicken in the tasting plate, he said NO. It was simply completely inflexible and it wasn't possible to pay your bill separately🙈 As I said, the food was ok, the price was also good, but in relation to the drinks is it right? 5€ for a 0.4 glass of cola, 6€ for a spritzer & a bar of water 5€…. Craziness…

They hosted our entire family of almost 30 people on a last minute post wedding dinner. The service was very fast and efficient. They were able to accommodate us on a last minute reservation and did an excellent job. We ordered close to 7 or 8 platters of food with tibs, gomen , kitfo and key wat. I’ve been to many Ethiopian restaurants and this was by far the tastiest food. We are grateful for them hosting so many people with last minute notice and for giving us wonderful service, and such a tasty meal. I would highly recommend for both small or big gatherings. And don’t forget to try the traditional Ethiopian wine made from honey.

The food is very tasty and the service is very friendly. The coffee ceremony is not to be missed and makes the evening special. The honey wine is also recommended. Just one small point of criticism: it was very narrow and you sat very close to each other, but you quickly got into conversation with the people sitting next to you. Which made it good again. Was recommended to us and will continue to be recommended by us. Will definitely visit again soon.

Delicious food. I eat Kitfo every time, the injera bread tastes very authentic, probably because actual Ethiopians run and cook at the restaurant. As usual, Ethiopians are extremely kind, and the service is splendid. I will regularly visit this place.

Came to this place as a fellow Ethiopian who was traveling by and wanted to grab some Ethiopian food and found it on good maps with a highly rating not really sure how they have that as well🤔. I first sat down outside on their garden and ordered the Fisik beyanetu for one person. Food tasted like water, no seasoning at all, injera was also a bit moldy as well and really not on the minimum standard. I then followed up with a couple of beer and coffee while enjoying the beautiful view from their garden and few moments later I was then chased out as they bluntly stated they needed the chairs and table and they gave me a bill to pay and leave or I was forced to sit in side. I then left without finishing my drinks which I ordered while being really disappointed at the level of service they gave me. I am disappointed on the level of service and food quality they have, I will never come to this place and I do not recommend for anyone!

The only, and I mean only Ethiopian restaurant worth going to in Berlin. I’ve eaten in all the Ethiopian restaurants in Berlin and literally travel 1hr to come here because it’s just that good. Don’t bother going anywhere else tbh.

Food was edible and decent but too salty, the cooking was very average. Presentation was not good at all. I had been to Ethiopian restaurants in multiple occasions in the past, and they are usually very good; Bejte was the worst one of them. The staff was extremely rude, one of the rudest we have ever been. Also very very slow. The atmosphere was halfway decent. The table cover was sticky. I also perceived the uncovered burning candle at each table quite unsafe, since there were lots of wooden stuff and fabrics around.

The food wasn't quite our thing, we couldn't do much with the sour flatbreads and the coffee was outstanding. Service was super nice and everything was very authentic.

Was good and plentiful. We had a mixed platter (#25) for two people. You got an impression of everything there. However, you first have to get used to eating with your fingers. And we waited a very long time (45 minutes) for our food even though the place wasn't completely full. Some of the service stood at the counter inside and talked instead of bringing guests drinks or the bill.

I really always enjoy being here. Were here for the 5th time, the food was great as always. Very friendly service and cozy, authentic atmosphere!! One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin :)

We went for lunch and had mix platter of both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. They were delicious. The only thing was missing that the food was almost at room temperature where I was expecting it to be hot. The tej honey wine was great a bit sweet for my taste but enjoyable, again it was served at room temperature. I haven’t tried much of Ethiopian cuisine so exactly can’t say if it’s supposed to that way. But I can confirm the taste were great and filling. Outdoor seating was nice and they have cozy indoor. Clean Toilets available.

Nice little restaurant. Tasty food. Quiet front garden to sit outside.

Discovered and no longer an insider tip. My first attempt to stop here was torpedoed by a completely full restaurant. The second time I was smarter. Reserve is the magic word. Or as a little tip: come here very early in the evening (i.e. before 5:30 p.m.). Having no experience with Ethiopian cuisine, the food was a surprise, but a very welcome one. With the soft and slightly sour flatbread you can dip your way through delicious heaps of sauce, some vegetarian, some with meat, just as you like. If you want to try it, I recommend taking a mixed platter for two people, so you get a good impression, even though I personally liked the dips with meaty contents best. Eating with your fingers - who hasn't wanted to since childhood? Here is the perfect opportunity for that. The service couldn't be friendlier, even if you have to take some time with you, as everything is done very quickly. The ambience is authentic, even if I didn't like the low tables at the back for eating. That's why I gratefully accepted the opportunity to eat at a "normal" table. It's nice that you can choose. The prices are very good for the quantity that is served. Absolute recommendation! I will gladly come again.

Very delicious, absolutely authentic Ethiopian food served in the traditional manner by our very friendly and accommodating waiter, Abul (I hope I got his name right). Having traveled for a month in Ethiopia, eating non-touristic food in small villages in the countryside and in the homes of Ethiopian friends, I can say, definitively, that the food was very authentic here, and meets a high standard of quality.

This was fantastic! I never had Ethiopian food before and was.quite surprised by it. The main dishes are mostly vegan, with some separate meat options available, which from my understanding, would only be eaten outside or the fasting periods in Ethiopia. It's simply fantastic, the amount and quality is quite positively gigantic, with the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere just adding positively to the mix. For everyone who is comfortable eating with their hands, this is a must visit! I sure hope this stays more of a hidden tip, since the atmosphere is quite cozy and the restaurant doesn't seem to be over hyped yet.

For us is already a “must” whenever we are in Berlin. Great food, tasty, fresh, home made, the best Fladenbrot ever (and believe we’ve been all over). The staff is every time warm and kind, nice, gentle people. I wish you guys at Betje really all the best!. We definitely love this place! Great for kids, ours really like the delicious mix of flavours being offered on each plate, and the coffee, amazing ! My recommendation: don’t waste more time reading and go there 😊
