Beilstein is a very charming village with the ruins of Metternich Castle and, above all, one of the best-preserved historic townscapes, which is why it is also called the "Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle." It is also a place of pilgrimage, as the Black Madonna is displayed in the baroque monastery or Carmelite church. Next door is a monastery restaurant & café, which is tempting to visit with its delicious cuisine, excellent cakes, very friendly waiters, and a fantastic view. For more than 10 years, we have been spending a long weekend on the Moselle, and every year a visit to Beilstein is a must, whether by bike, boat, or car 👍🏻

A charming little town right on the Moselle River. Plenty of opportunities to stop for a coffee or ice cream. Metternich Castle, perched atop the mountain, offers fantastic views. A landing stage for the Moselle boat tour offers further excursion options. Just outside the town limits – coming from Cochem on the L98 – there are also free parking spaces. They are only about 300 meters further than the paid parking spaces. Please note the clearance height for motorhomes...

Beilstein on the Moselle Beilstein is one of the most picturesque villages on the Moselle. The charming town center, with its narrow streets, half-timbered houses, and charming squares, exudes an almost fairytale atmosphere. From the castle ruins, you have a magnificent view of the river and the vineyards that climb the hillsides. Along the Moselle, you'll find charming terraces and wineries where you can enjoy local wines and regional dishes. The village exudes tranquility and authenticity, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing stopover or a romantic weekend. An absolute must for anyone who wants to experience the charm of the Moselle.

A must-see if you're in the area. Very small, very old, and full of character. The old castle isn't just a dilapidated building; it's worth seeing in itself. Even if the climb seems tiresome, it's worth climbing the non-standard tower steps. Don't forget to keep your head down. There's delicious food on every corner. Don't forget the church.

This place is simply enchantingly beautiful. It may be small, but it's lovely and perfectly adequate for a day trip. Especially with the beautiful town of Cochem across the road. We took a boat tour from here to Beilstein (approx. 1 hour). A return day ticket costs €19 per person (as of July 25). The boat departs approximately hourly, so you can choose your own return time. Please note: Mondays are a day of rest, and the monastery and castle are closed.

Our first glass of wine (excellent) upon arrival was supposed to be just a quick one, but then the wonderful atmosphere and the beautiful view of the Moselle captivated us, and we stayed for dinner, which was also excellent and incredibly delicious. Our waitress, Kathrin, was particularly notable and positive, interacting with her guests in a humorous and empathetic manner. She made people laugh and created a cheerful atmosphere. Chapeau!!! People like that are like salt in the soup. We even went back a second time, and it was another great experience. Our recommendation: Definitely stop by and get to know Kathrin.
