Good German comfort food, good portion sizes. Prices were reasonable. I thought drinks were a little pricey across the border. Schnitzel and Schweinebraten were tasty. Will come back in summer for the beergarden.

The beer and garden were quite nice. However, the roast pork with dumplings and the coleslaw were really not good; a very unloving ready meal.

We've been regulars for over 25 years, mostly in the self-service garden. But for meetings with older family members, we also like to go to the sidewalk area, which is quaint both inside and out and highly recommended. Reservations are recommended there, but you can also easily book online.

Closed for an event. The trip was worth it! Do you always have to check online to see if it's open now? Brave new world! Okay. The loss is limited; it's well known that the food and drinks here are of second-rate quality and friendliness is a foreign concept...

The food is good, with normal portions. Service is lacking. A full ashtray was clearly on the side of the table, along with a used pitcher (none of which was ours, which was absolutely clear). It hasn't been cleared in almost four hours. In the women's restroom, the light is either broken or the switch is missing. It's completely dark. The parking situation is terrible, but that's nothing new.

It was nice to sit in the shade under the trees, and outside there's self-service (you have to go to the counter yourself), and it's also very quick.

No, not a recommendation, worst roast pork I've ever eaten. The meat was just cooked without salt, without any seasoning, absolutely tasteless. The consistency was okay, see photo. The potato dumplings were hard inside, probably reheated ages ago. The sauce was probably ready-made from a bucket or bag. Addendum: other dishes at our table, like cooked cheese and salad, were fine, tasty and neatly presented. A few weeks ago, the knuckle of pork was at least seasoned. The dumplings were a bit better then, but they didn't inspire much enthusiasm either.

Changes to orders are not accepted! I wanted to order a mixed salad with coleslaw. The waiter's response: There's only a mixed salad WITHOUT coleslaw or just coleslaw! If I want both, I have to order two salads for €5.50 each with a rump steak for €29 without any sides. I ordered the rump steak + fries for €5.50 + a mixed salad for €5.50, so €40. All I got were "leaf salads." Given these prices, it's beyond outrageous and unusual that a guest's request is NOT accommodated and that a leaf salad is sold as a mixed salad. There were 11 of us, and the bill was almost €500. NEVER AGAIN for me - not recommended, even though my rump steak was perfectly cooked!

In good weather, sitting under the trees was simply fantastic. Time flew by.

I'm very sad! I was really looking forward to this afternoon. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great time. At first, we didn't have a menu and had to choose our food online. The soup arrived cold. The waitress just shrugged. Both veal schnitzels were wet and hard. Even when well-filled plates were returned, no one asked if everything was OK. They probably don't need to anymore!

Nice beer garden with friendly service and good food. It's a bit of a shame that the vegan schnitzel is more expensive than the pork one, and unfortunately, there's no changing table.

The beer garden is beautiful. The waiter-serviced outdoor area, however, is a complete disaster. A clear two-class society. While a waiter takes care of everything (serving, clearing, and taking the cash), the manager sits bored at the entrance. It takes a correspondingly long time to order. When you then unpack cards and want to play, the manager actually manages to get up and come over. Then you even get an announcement that card games are prohibited in this beer garden. Two of us played Rome – quietly… When you ask where that's written, you're referred to the house rules, followed by the request to leave the beer garden. If that's the level of customer service in the waiter-serviced area, it's very, very awful. I've never experienced such insolence. A beer garden where card games are forbidden 🙈 My special sympathy goes out to the exploited waiter…

Amazing atmosphere to sit under the trees big shade in a hot summer day. Classic german cuisine served with bavarian beers. The sausadges were tasty. The big greek style salad with cheese was a perfect addition. Only the potato salad could be more tasty and not so boring. Definetely recommend the place because of the classic german atmosphere.

The ambiance is nice. Unfortunately, the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. The bread was terribly dry. The schnitzel was simply deep-fried frozen meat, and the fries were soggy. The service at the ticket counter was also quite unfriendly. The beer was delicious, but given the wide selection of beer gardens in Darmstadt, I found this visit disappointing.

Impressions from the first five minutes as a guest, after you've gotten your bearings and want to take a look at the menu and what's on offer. It's utter cheek. They asked for the menu back and told you to look it up online. I said, "You're not that customer-oriented?" "Well, you'd be better off finding another restaurant." The staff are a bit overwhelmed. The food prices are very high; whether it's worth it isn't worth it. I'll pass this on to the HR bike tour with 900 participants, who are staying right next door in the Bürgerpark for two days.

Never eaten such a bad sausage salad

We visited the Bavarian Beer Garden in Darmstadt with a group of about 20 people – including international business partners from Italy and China. The entire experience was absolutely first-class. The food was outstanding: The meat was cooked to perfection in every dish – juicy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Even with a larger group, there were no compromises in quality or timing. Special praise goes to the service, especially Mr. Höfler. He guided us through the evening with great experience, attentiveness, and charm. Particularly impressive: He was able to converse with our Italian and Chinese guests in their native languages – this not only generated enthusiasm but also contributed to a very pleasant and personal atmosphere. His wine recommendations were excellent, and the entire process ran quickly, professionally, and absolutely smoothly. The Bavarian Beer Garden is not only a place for cozy evenings, but also ideal for business events and international groups. Thank you for this fantastic evening – we would love to come back!

A completely marbled veal schnitzel, mentioned twice, and the staff were completely unresponsive. We ordered dessert, but nothing arrived for over half an hour. We then canceled it, with no apology or anything. Overall, the price was expensive for the poor quality. Sat in the non-smoking area, but still got a whiff of smoke. Below average

Nice, large beer garden. There are plenty of shady spots. The drink selection is good. Restrooms could be cleaner. NOTE for those with gluten intolerance: When ordering a meal with bread, it's a bigger issue to ask for the bread option. The staff isn't particularly knowledgeable about gluten intolerance. The sausage salad without bread was very tasty, though.

The self-service area is really great, and there's always something available. This time we went to the waiter-service area, and that was also really great. The menu varies a bit—perfect for business lunches.

A very spacious beer garden on the edge of Bürgerpark Nord, with a self-service and waitress area, supposedly the largest in all of southern Hesse. The many trees provide ample shade, making it pleasant on hot summer days. In bad weather, you can sit in the adjoining restaurant, "Zum Scheinheil'gen," whose rustic decor exudes a truly Bavarian charm. We received very friendly and quick service and were lucky to arrive just before the kitchen closed. The menu includes typical Bavarian specialties such as roast pork and pork knuckle, as well as salads and meatless dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though everything else was perfect, I unfortunately have to deduct one point overall because the prices are quite high. But we'll be back anyway.

As a side note, since Google simplified the process of complaining about negative comments for the purpose of defamation protection, the owner has had a negative comment deleted in at least one case, even though the descriptions likely didn't violate the legal framework. All other reviews should be viewed with the caveat that they very likely present a positively distorted review image.

To the owner, after 30 years of visiting, I must inform you that the beer garden has become very "bad and the prices have sky-high," the food was once again a disgrace, and we will never go there again. The staff are unfriendly towards foreign citizens.

First of all, the location is super nice; the name lives up to its promise. And the drinks are good too – my husband was thrilled with his large, non-alcoholic beer mug. So, sitting down and having a drink is great. But that's where it ends, unfortunately. We ordered two grilled sausages with a roll in the self-service area. I found the service irritating – not exactly rude, but obviously in a very bad mood. Well, everyone has a bad day. I'd barely had the device in my hand that signals that the food is ready when it started buzzing. Surprised, I rushed around the corner and was handed two plates. The grilled sausages honestly looked like they were from the day before and then thrown back on the grill – and that's how they tasted. Two bites and we both sent our food back. At least, after a brief discussion, we quickly got our money back. What a shame, really.

We were there on Father's Day and were beyond disappointed. The food—especially the mixed grill—was an absolute disaster: dry, carelessly prepared, and completely tasteless. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only problem. The owner behaved completely inappropriately—when our children were playing with some branches, he seriously said he would pull their hair if they did that again. Completely unacceptable to us! A place where you feel neither welcome nor comfortable. We definitely won't be back.

The Bavarian beer garden is beautifully laid out, has a children's playground, and is pleasantly shady. The food is only available in the self-service area, and is definitely not a gastronomic revelation. The currywurst was served as a pure sausage with curry ketchup on the side, just as carelessly as the white sausages. Card payment from €20? The Obazda (traditional Bavarian sausage) was okay. The price is quite high for what is offered. There are much more appealing and quality options. A good, benevolent 2 stars.

We were once again very satisfied today in the beautiful beer garden in Darmstadt. Certainly the most beautiful beer garden in Darmstadt and the surrounding area. The lovely seating areas under the plane trees invite you to relax, and the food is excellent. And the good wines they offer there are also excellent. We come here almost every two weeks, and the whole family is absolutely thrilled to have found such a beautiful spot. We can highly recommend this Bavarian beer garden.

We ate here as a large group of 30 people (it's important to make reservations in advance, of course), and it was definitely a very pleasant experience. The service was good, the food was delicious, and the price was perfectly reasonable.

Ambience is very overpriced. 1 pair of white sausages with pretzels 12€ in a beer garden or a beef steak 27€ (it wasn't made the way it was ordered), roast pork with dumplings 22€. A Radler 0.5l also costs €5.30, something like that for a Bavarian beer garden?? With waiter service. These are restaurant prices with a very good standard. Very very expensive. Can't recommend it and not as a family.

It used to be a really great beer garden! Now it's so overpriced that you can eat much better in a restaurant for the money. The animal stable was also abolished - the main reason why our four children preferred this beer garden over the others!

Great knuckle...good beer...heart, what more could you want

There were 4 of us there yesterday, just an hour after the beer garden opened. Apart from the rudeness of the employees, we waited an hour for the food, which I personally find extremely long for a self-service beer garden and simple dishes like 2x schnitzel and 1x white sausage. One schnitzel had a lemon wedge, the other didn't, when I asked if I could get one the answer was no, there are no more... for the fact that it's self-service, you don't even get a lemon wedge when you ask, the plate is sunk in fat, the portions were small and you wait a long time for your food, that's a cheeky €15. The white sausage was already dried out on the top and not fresh at all. We definitely won't come again.

We were 1.5 today. there again for lunch...a very nice service employee served us really well and quickly. Our dessert “Apple Strudel” *you definitely have to try...* rounded off our meal, mmm delicious 😋

We were there with a few colleagues and had a beer and maybe something to eat. The ambience under the trees is fantastic, and yet seems very original. The beer is also served with a decent crown and tastes good. The service could have been a little more attentive, but overall it was okay. I don't know what the others' food was like, I forgot to ask, but my roast pork with bread dumplings was subpar. And then I felt sick too.

Unfortunately I have to share my disappointment about my visit to this beer garden. The food was not at all satisfactory - the white sausages were cold and looked as if they had not been fresh for a long time. The food as a whole was far too greasy (the entire plate was full) which greatly affected the enjoyment. What was particularly annoying was the long wait of an hour for my food, which is simply far too long for a beer garden of this type. In addition, a schnitzel costs €15, which I find far too expensive for the service and quality of the food. Overall my experience was very disappointing and I will probably avoid this place in the future.

We were in the beer garden on a sunny April day. The beer was good, but the food wasn't. The cucumber salad tasted like feet that had fallen asleep. Compared to the “fresh” market salad, however, it was probably a 10\10. With the best will in the world, I couldn't finish the market salad and it's a disgrace to charge €7.50 for such a culinary attack. As if the anger wasn't enough, a strange scene happened across from us. A mother played with her child and his foam airplane until it unfortunately landed in the tree. When the mother tried to shake the branch, the owner came running in a rage and shouting that she should leave the tree alone. Instead of bringing a broom or something similar to free the plane from the clutches of the tree, he stood behind his cashier's booth again to relieve the poor guests of their euros. Luckily, another guest had mercy and freed the plane from the tree with a skillful jump. It's a shame, the beer garden is actually in a quiet location and child-friendly with a playground. It's nice for small parties or just like that, but I don't necessarily recommend it for really big parties like an anniversary

Yesterday wasn't our first time there with our family, as it's simply more relaxed with children when they can let off steam outside. The weather was fine, so we were able to sit under the chestnut trees in the beer garden. Right at the beginning, the waiter told us that he couldn't take the food order until a little later. Yes - no problem, the bars are quite crowded on Easter Sunday. After we got our drinks relatively quickly, everything was fine at first. However, the waiting time for the food was a bit long at 1.5 hours - but good, with the fairly expensive dishes you expect something tasty and "good things take time". However, a children's meal only arrived when the rest of us had almost finished eating. And then.....a parmesan risotto with fresh asparagus pieces and fried prawns, in which there was no hint of asparagus in either portion. After we pointed this out, the plates were taken back and then came back after a short time with a stick of asparagus in pieces spread over them. Hmm...I had imagined something different for the price! Also the dessert with the asparagus menu "with fresh strawberries"...no trace of strawberries, the mascarpone cream was very thin and somehow gritty. But we were tired of the complaints and we just hope that the waiter passed on our legitimate criticisms! Because to be honest - the food there isn't exactly great and the drinks also make you think twice about ordering another drink. It would have at least been a nice gesture if we had been offered an espresso or a cappuccino on the house at the end - unfortunately none. We will at least carefully consider another visit there!

Five of us ate in the restaurant. I ordered a dish with fried potatoes and received - without comment - the dish with fries. I asked about the fried potatoes, as these were also listed on the menu for this dish. The answer: The fried potatoes are out. No apology, no question as to what I wanted to eat as an alternative - nothing. Interestingly, this happened once in October 2024, only then I subsequently received the fried potatoes. A Bavarian-themed restaurant without fried potatoes with bacon, onions and caraway - I don't know what that's about...

We were in the Bavarian Garden again today. Tried beef sausage, knuckle with dumplings, fries, and the Bavarian cream. In short: everything was pretty crap - except for the normal fries. They were surprisingly good and were actually the only edible thing in the store. If you just want to sit in the atmosphere and drink a beer without subjecting yourself to culinary misery, then the place is okay. But even the beer was mediocre.

We were here with our 1-year-old son and were only allowed to use the children's chair if we were sitting in the lower service area. When asked whether we would also go into self-service, the answer was - no! When we asked if we could ask the boss, the answer came - "the bosses are busy." Very ignorant treatment of guests. It's no wonder that Damestadt residents usually go to other beer gardens. Never again. Then prefer the Dieburg beer garden in Darmstadt.

Nice place to stay and easily accessible by bike!

For all white sausage lovers: Be sure to ask for sweet mustard when buying at the counter. I hadn't done that because I took it for granted. Unfortunately, when the food was handed out, I was referred to ketchup and medium-hot Noraml mustard; there was no sweet mustard. My attempt to explain that white sausage includes sweet mustard and that you should be told when buying it if there isn't any was immediately met with understanding from the other guests in the queue, but the kitchen staff only gave me an explanation of their delivery difficulties and I was left with my two plates of dry white sausage. A more accommodating offer, e.g. for a different dish, would have saved me this bad review. Otherwise, the beer garden has lost a lot of its flair due to the closure of the animal enclosure at the entrance.

It doesn't get any better. Stable quality for years. I even know the infrastructure behind the scenes - everything is right. Ultra clean and accurate. Very nice and super tasty!

Very flexible. If the sun is shining, the beer garden will be open before opening. Nice atmosphere to switch off and escape from everyday life.

At the time of Oktoberfest I would have expected Oktoberfest beer, the employees in the self-service area were not particularly motivated, the food was ok.

Ended up here today by chance. Since the weather wasn't great, we went inside. The furnishings are rustic, a beautiful tiled stove enhances the look. We were lucky and there was still a table for two available. The service, possibly the owner/tenant, was very accommodating. My rump steak with fresh porcini mushrooms came medium rare as requested and tasted very good. My wife was served the wrong food. The waitress was visibly uncomfortable, also because I had already had my food and my wife had to wait for her real food. To tide her over, she got a salad on the house. At the end of the meal, due to the inconvenience, we each got an espresso on the house. That was really nice, also because we didn't ask for it. Mistakes happen. As it sounds in, it sounds out again... The food portions were appropriate for the price quoted. In summer it's certainly nice to sit outside under all the trees, and we'll be back there. Overall, definitely recommended as a beer garden.
