Great restaurant with really good food. Very cozy and a great atmosphere. Reservations are recommended.

As an absolute schnitzel and cheese fan, I'd say it's highly recommended. If I lived in Darmstadt, I'd be a regular; as a more or less regular visitor, it's always a must to stop by once in a while.

A very pleasant place, with a fairly simple but cozy atmosphere for the hungry and thirsty. Good food with varied and sophisticated dishes, and generous portions.

Nice restaurant with a beer garden. The staff is friendly and the value is really great. The portions are really generous. The menu consists mainly of schnitzel, spaetzle, and lots of cheese. As someone with a gluten intolerance, it probably wasn't the best choice, but what I ate was very tasty. The first server didn't know what "allergens" were at first, but a colleague from the kitchen gave me some helpful advice. I had a zucchini and tomato pan with fried potatoes and can highly recommend it.

I was there with my family last week. The ambiance in the summer evening is really nice, but unfortunately the food was disappointing. I had fried potatoes and a Wiener schnitzel – both were completely dry. Really disappointing for the price!! There was a lady at the bar who preferred to look at her phone and joke around instead of making our drinks. The waitress at the table was a bit overwhelmed with the order, but friendly nonetheless. But when I wanted to leave a tip, she said she wasn't allowed to keep it anyway. Excuse me? What kind of treatment is this to the staff?? This was my last visit.

Fantastically good and tasty hunter's schnitzel with delicious fresh mushrooms in the good sauce. The potatoes were sliced and seemed deep-fried, but tasted good. Also a delicious homemade lemonade. Very large portions, if you can't finish it you are offered a box for the leftovers, so you can take it home, which several people took advantage of. Unfortunately we had to say no to this as we were staying at a hotel.

I always enjoy going there; the schnitzel variations are simply unbelievably delicious. Even though the prices have risen dramatically, it's still worth a visit. If you enjoy schnitzel and plenty of meat on your plate, this is the place for you; the quality is unbeatable. The staff is friendly and attentive.

The schnitzels taste good, and have for years. But since they cost 26 or 27 euros, we stopped going. It's simply too much, especially since the drinks have also become very expensive. It may be that these prices are reasonable for certain groups of people. (Hi, Doctor) It's too expensive for the middle class. Yes, the schnitzels are a bit larger. But you also have to wait quite a while for your food, and if you sit in the beer garden, you get the most expensive beer garden food in the Rhine-Main area.

The schnitzel was delicious, and the homemade (cheese) spaetzle were also delicious! I would have liked to see a larger selection of Eichbaum draft beers at an Eichbaum bar, but otherwise everything was great.

Recommend by a local, very nice restaurant with a good atmosphere and nice servers with a correct level of English. We still had to remind them that we were ready to order. The food was correct (nothing exceptional) but I would have appreciate to know that the portions are that big as it was way too much for one person and half of it ended up in the trash. It was the same for my friends who ordered something different. The size of the portion also explains the quite expensive price. The water was also quite expensive (5,70 for less than a litre). It is possible to pay by card.

The Eichbaum Tresen, founded in 1679, is a charming pub disguised as a beer garden. Anyone who happens to stumble upon it won't be disappointed. The prices are reasonable, the chef knows what he's doing, and the atmosphere is fantastic. You can sit comfortably in the back beer garden; the interior is reminiscent of an alpine hut. Everything is just right here: the freshly tapped beer comes from the private Eichbaum brewery, the schnitzels are well-cooked and served with finesse. And for those who haven't tried it yet: the regional specialty is "Handkäs mit Musik," a cheese marinated in onions, oil, and apple cider vinegar, served with fresh bread and butter. Be sure to try it! The service is also friendly and very attentive, making it the best choice in this neighborhood, if not in Darmstadt.

Actually, you shouldn't make a recommendation here, otherwise the Heussers would simply be stormed! Phenomenal!!! I know the “counter” from before. Back then they still had the Dutch oven on the menu! Today I had the Odenwälderschitzel with cooked cheese and two 4 Bembel.... The service is great... Keep it up!!! Best schnitzel in Darmstadt, the Gruyère schnitzel is a dream! Service is always very nice and friendly. The newer room in particular is very nice and if you can sit outside in the summer, it's perfect. Update 2025: You can now also pay by card, great!

We arrived unannounced and luckily managed to snag a table. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The portions are very large, in keeping with the prices. The value for money is good, in my opinion. For example, the children's schnitzel was the same size as the adult portions in other restaurants. Our son (4) still ate it all because he enjoyed it so much! 😊

The food was delicious. However, we waited over an hour for our dishes. So if you're in a hurry or just want to eat and leave, I wouldn't recommend it. The atmosphere is cozy. The service is average. The lemonade was delicious, but the drinks also took a long time to arrive.

Very tasty food in a very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and delicious food

The Eichbaum Tresen restaurant in Darmstadt is known for its huge portions of schnitzel, which we have already tried and found really tasty. This time, however, we opted for the Madagascar minced steak and the grilled eggplant. Both dishes tasted excellent and completely convinced us. The minced steak in particular was juicy and the spicy sauce went perfectly with it. The grilled eggplant was breaded and aromatic in taste. It had just the right consistency. Another positive point is that the restaurant is child-friendly. There was own cutlery and a children's plate for the little ones, even a small side salad was included. Details like this show that families are also being considered here, which we really appreciate. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for our food, which somewhat spoiled the overall impression. A long wait can quickly become tiring, especially with hungry children. Faster kitchen organization would be desirable here. To finish, we ordered a crème brûlée, which tasted excellent. The sugar was nicely caramelized and crunchy, just as it should be. However, the arrangement in an IKEA bowl was not very appealing - there is definitely room for improvement here.

The Eichbaum counter offers a rustic and cozy regulars' table atmosphere that invites you to linger. The atmosphere is authentic, down-to-earth and pleasantly sociable – a place where you immediately feel at home. The schnitzels are an absolute highlight: very tasty, but also really huge - so it's better to go there if you're very hungry. Despite the portion size, the price-performance ratio remains excellent. You definitely get a lot for your money! A small negative point is the parking situation. There are no dedicated parking spaces and the area is often very crowded. If you come by car, you should allow a little more time to look for a parking space. The homemade lemonades are particularly recommended - refreshing, prepared with love and a great addition to the meal. Overall, the Eichbaum Tresen is a real insider tip for everyone who appreciates good food, a relaxed atmosphere and fair prices.

The world's best cheese spaetzle is available here without exception! Schnitzels are gigantic and equally delicious. Super friendly owners and very nice staff. Absolute recommendation!!!!!

Noisy atmosphere but everything else was great!

I have been here several times. One of the special things about this place is the huge schnitzel. It is hard to finish, but you can have it doggy-bagged (if you pay extra, of course). The place is usually full and you can only reserve a table in the winter. In the summer it is not possible to reserve a table. This is a direct reflection of the general behaviour of the staff: they have zero to no respect for the customers. When you visit them, it always seems like you are doing something wrong when you order food. It is as if they are there by chance and serve you not because you are a customer but because they are forced to. If they find out you are not German, they will be even ruder. Sometimes the place randomly closes without warning, so I recommend contacting them by phone. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about. To conclude, the only reason to visit this place is the huge schnitzel, which is quite expensive but good. The staff is unprofessional, so be prepared.

I went to this restaurant again after years with a very good friend and immediately felt welcome. The decor is rustic and goes perfectly with the food on offer. Of course we both chose the schnitzel and immediately understood why the boxes for eating were even on the menu. The portions are really impressively large 😀 Be careful, Kochkässchnitzel doesn't really have any fried potatoes - so it's not a misprint on the menu - but that's a good thing 😉 The service is nice and the drinks arrive quite quickly (recommend the rhubarb spritzer!). Unfortunately we had to wait a bit for the food, but the shop was quite full and we didn't go to a fast food restaurant 😉 The Eichbaum counter is definitely a recommendation if you've had your fill of schnitzel and like a cozy evening...

Good food in huge portions, at reasonable but reasonable prices, because it's enough to fill you up twice. The doggy bag costs an extra charge, bring a Tupperware container with you :-)

This restaurant is a great spot in Darmstadt, especially if you’re looking for a nice Biergarten to enjoy your meal. The portions are very generous, so be prepared to leave full! The Jägerschnitzel is a standout and definitely worth a try—probably one of the best in the area. They also offer small takeaway boxes for 50 cents, which is a nice option if you have leftovers. Overall, a solid choice for a relaxed meal.

The schnitzels were very tasty and crispy. I can especially recommend Champi Kääs. The salad next to the schnitzel surprised me positively. The portions are very large. The service of schnitzel was slow took about 1 hour, otherwise everything with the service was good. The atmosphere in the beer garden was great. The design of the beer garden and the famous oak tree allow you to have your meal in a nice atmosphere :)

Met as an apprentice in the early 70s: Now (08/24) rediscovered on a trip down memory lane: great restaurant with a nice beer garden. Very lush, delicious food. Huge (!) portions at a fair price. And: sanitary facilities modern and clean! Oh yes: friendly staff too!

I would like to describe myself as a regular guest who has been very satisfied with the food for years. However, today I was disappointed with the portion size. Either I get the summer edition or I should contribute to improving margins with my visit. The thickness of the schnitzel was the same as that of the breading, which in combination with the price was a disgrace for me. I reported this to two waitresses, so I expect someone to show up from the kitchen.

A place you should definitely avoid! Rude and disrespectful staff! This used to be my favorite restaurant in Darmstadt. Last winter I was there more than ten times. Today I returned and saw that they have a garden. I tried to reserve a table but was told on the phone that they don't take reservations (although they did take reservations in the winter). We were two adults and two children. We didn't have to wait long and a table became available. We started to sit down when suddenly three men appeared and took the table. They arrived after us. The waitress said that they had reservations! An absurd situation! I called the chef and he assigned us a spot inside which was closed for some strange reason. Then the other waitress said we would have to wait 60-90 minutes for our food! Apparently they didn't care and didn't want to serve us. I was very upset about the behavior, especially because we were there with two small children! A place you should definitely avoid!

We were at Eichbaum Tresen at the end of June. The beer garden is very nicely located and quite cozy. At first the prices seemed a bit high to me - but in retrospect I have to say that they are definitely justified. The side salad was amazing and I think you can usually tell what the restaurant can do just by looking at the salads. The schnitzel was huge (and so were the other portions - e.g. the minced steak) and definitely fresh, juicy and tasty. But the fried potatoes...a dream! I don't know if I've ever had fried potatoes this good. The service was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the very nice afternoon and the delicious food. We will come back in any case!

After a long time I found my way here again. Unfortunately I was bitterly disappointed. The beer garden and restaurant are still very nice and the toilets are very clean. The sandy floor in the beer garden is so dusty that my white shoes turned gray afterwards. The menu is very schnitzel-heavy, but that's okay. The average price for a pork schnitzel is €25, which is not ok. In terms of calculations, the crispy eggplant for €20.50 doesn't fit in either. We ate minced steak with egg, fried potatoes and salad. Very tasty but half would have been enough! When asked for a dollop of sauce, the answer was "Only as a portion, for an additional charge". We would have liked to drink more, but since the waitress kept ignoring us, we were only able to drink after 20 minutes. order our second drink. Since the dish was far too much, we asked if we could pack the rest. A box came promptly to pack. The awakening came when I got the bill: “So you had the box? It costs 50 cents”. None of this has anything to do with the former Eichbaum counter. What a shame! I grew up in Bessungen and find it very sad to see how a long-established restaurant is developing to such a disadvantage. Conclusion: If you like huge portions for a lot of money in a nice atmosphere, this is the place for you!

Went there again after 10 years, but unfortunately we found that the food had become very expensive. Schnitzel between 23-27 euros (sometimes without a side dish) and then nothing to drink... the beer garden was half full but unfortunately the three ladies from service didn't have an eye on clearing the table and they only became aware after loud calls and a show of hands Unfortunately, previous attempts were in vain. Unfortunately, the food came randomly from the kitchen, so you could see how one part of the large tables had eaten while the other had not yet eaten. I won't be going there anymore, which is unfortunate because 10 years ago I used to eat there at least every two weeks. Conclusion: there is actually nothing to say against the prices and the food, as everything is expensive. However, the service should then be appropriate.

But I think the prices are just too high, especially since fried potatoes (whole slices with peel) are far too boring: a few fried onions won't cut it. The schnitzels can be so big. In general, the Eichbaumtresen is a restaurant where you can eat great schnitzel. Unfortunately, they are a bit inflexible if you would rather have a salad instead of, for example, a fried potato. I would have paid an extra charge without any problems. But the schnitzel was tasty, the fried potatoes were definitely better in the past and the service was very attentive and quick.

You really have to have a big appetite. The portions are really very large. But also really good quality. The schnitzel I had wasn't too thin and therefore wasn't dry or tough. The service was very friendly and checked regularly to see if you needed anything else. Even though the prices are slightly higher than in other restaurants, the portion sizes here are also significantly larger. The ambience is also very nice with the tree nearby, which also fits in with the rest of the interior. Clear recommendation!

The food here is decent, but the prices are beyond outrageous. 25€ for a normal schnitzel with sauce and just under 5€ for the house beer cannot be justified by any increase in costs for the restaurateur. Added to this is the unfriendly service.

The ambience is nice and the waitress is friendly too. You will mainly find meat dishes here, but also some vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Schnitzel and the like are not cheap, but the eggplant schnitzel in particular is, in my opinion, not proportionate at over €20 for some potatoes and eggplants. For the price I wouldn't order it again.

A pity. But when it comes to cheese spaetzle for €18 and Jägerschnitzel for €26, I'm out. Super nice atmosphere but the prices are extravagant. Unfortunately I won't be able to go back there anymore.

In terms of taste, the food is still good, nothing more and nothing less. I can also understand a price increase due to the VAT rising to 19% for the catering industry. However, I think ~25-26€ for a pork schnitzel with fried potatoes WITHOUT a side salad is just too much. For this price, a filling side dish AND a salad should definitely be included. Of course the schnitzel sizes are enormous All in all, I would rather exchange 1/4 of my meat and reduce the price by €3-4 again. There are other restaurants in Darmstadt where the schnitzel is just as good or better.

We've been eating there for 10 years, but today it was weak. The prices are now rather high. I ate the schnitzel with sour cream and when I complained that there was VERY little sauce, I was offered to get some more for an additional charge. It was about two tablespoons of sour cream and that for 3.90 euros. Dear Eichbaumtresen team, you're really slacking off. After eight months we were there again, things are getting worse. The prices have increased again and fried potatoes as a side dish can be counted on one hand. The sauce as a side dish is also becoming less and less. For me that was the last visit. By the way... rump steak costs 42 euros and a schnitzel (very large) costs 27 euros

Food is good, but not a culinary highlight. More mass instead of class. The prices rose by €5 per meal from December to January, which I find outrageous. A schnitzel costs on average €25 (i.e. 50 DM)! 0.4 liters of beer cost €5 - hefty. The service is very friendly and on the ball, remembering who ordered what and where the special orders were, even with many customers and stress.

Old restaurant. Very small but the atmosphere is great and the schnitzel is huge and delicious. Make a reservation as they normally get full even on weekdays due to the small size.

Mega Portionen und super lecker. Preis Leistung stimmt

Für uns sind die zierlichen Schnitzelkreationen im Eichbaumtresen Heuser immer wieder ein Genuss und die Portionen sind so reichlich, dass man am nächsten Tag noch ein leckeres Mittag- oder Abendessen hat. Die Service Mitarbeiter sind aufmerksam und freundlich. Leider haben, wie überall und nicht nur in der Gastronomie, die Preise angezogen, deswegen habe ich die aktuelle Speisekarte (12.01) mit hochgeladen.

Die Bedienung war mit kleinen Sonderwünschen, nach weniger schafer Soße und mehr Sauerrahm, überfordert und fragte warum ich nicht die Soße vom Schnitzel kratzen könne. -Wir waren die einzigen bestellenden Kunden zu der Zeit. Am Nachbartisch wurde bereits gegessen.- Kunde ist König? Hier nicht! Worauf hin ich ein Jägerschnitzel bestellte. Die Bratkartoffeln und der Salat waren gut. Das Schnitzel okay. Die Portion riesig. Aber die Pilze in der Soße waren roh und kalt. Die gesamte Soße wurde nur vom Schnitzel erwärmt. Besonders gut geschmeckt hat es nicht. Ich habe die Pilze bei Seite geschoben und Schnitzel mit Bratensoße gegessen. Das Hacksteakt hat meinem Partner auch nicht besonders geschmeckt. Eine meiner Begleitpersonen fragte nach einem Kirsch- Bananensaft. Der aber anscheinend nur in doppelter Menge zu doppelt Preis möglich ist. Darüber wurde sie jedoch nicht informiert. Sehr unnett. Finde der Preis ist heftig. 5,40€ für 0,4l Saft? Meine Begleitung hätte einen Kiba in 0,2l im Kopf als sie bestellte. Immerhin konnte sie einen Saft zurück geben, da sie einzeln abgefüllt waren. Also ich hätte lieber Qualität statt Quantität an der Stelle. Werden nicht wieder kommen! Haben bereits bei vorherigen Besuchen immer wieder Ärgernisse mit dem Essen und den Bedienungen gehabt. Es gibt in Darmstadt einfach um vielfach bessere Restaurants für Deutsche Hausmannskost!

Wir sind zu dritt ohne Reservierung dort an Halloween angekommen. Weil alle Tische bereits reserviert waren haben wir nur einen Platz an der Theke bekommen. Als ein anderer Tisch die Reservierung abgesagt hat konnten wir uns an diesen umsetzten. Das Essen war sehr viel und sehr lecker. Es gibt viele Schnitzel und Fleischvariationen aber auch eine gute vegetarische Auswahl an Salat, Käse und Spätzle. Die Angestellten waren alle schnell, kompetent und freundlich. Eine Reservierung ist aber dringend zu empfehlen (vor allem an Abenden an denen viel los ist).
