Where to eat on your first day in Germany

I ordered a roast pork with dumplings and red cabbage, my dumplings were still raw inside. Disgusting. Everything is very old fashioned, tables wobble, probably from the last century. Prices exorbitantly high for the inferior quality. Then go eat somewhere else!

The food was delicious in a cozy atmosphere. I want to come again next time.

We entered the restaurant, which has a great aesthetic, with the intention of seeing the place and if we liked to sit. The waiter was rude, he asked us what we wanted, we asked him to see the place and he said no. Shame such beautiful places are wasted by rude staff!

Service friendly and quick, food ok but clearly room for improvement. Carrots and potato salad didn't taste homemade. Courtyard very special.

The Baumeisterhaus restaurant impresses with its friendly service and rustic decoration that matches the city. The prices are okay and the portions were large enough. However, I had the impression that ready-made products were sometimes used here, which detracted from the overall culinary impression. Certainly a nice experience for tourists, but overall it's more solid than outstanding.

Stopped in for lunch after visiting Market Square. The inside of the store is built to give you a sense of history and has a great atmosphere. The staff spoke English and there was a Japanese menu as well. There is also a children's menu. Ordered Frankenwine, roast pork, schnitzel, and sausages from the children's menu. The roast pork meat was tender and the purple cabbage that came with it was also delicious. I was very satisfied with delicious German food for around 20 euros per person. Please note that cards cannot be used, only cash.

I was prepared for a mediocre review… however! We had an exceptional time. They close a bit earlier than some might expect, but we seated right away during the busiest time of year! Our server, young man, was exceptional! He was very responsive and polite. Had the deer ghoulash and fish, a salad, and child schnitzel, beer and Schnaps after dinner. Everything was very good! The ghoulash was on a bed of spatzle - and the gravy was delicious. No room for dessert unfortunately - they looked great though. Exceptional.

For the price, you'd rather eat somewhere else! The Jägerschnitzel with mushroom sauce and fries were ready meals from the freezer! Over-fried, the edges are very charred! Fresh looks different! The coffee foamed as if it had washing-up liquid in it and tasted like it too! The country cake (cheesecake with cranberries and plum cake) homemade “by grandma” that fell apart when I tried to eat it with a fork! These cakes were certainly not fresh! It's a shame, we were very disappointed, even the medieval atmosphere doesn't help!

We had a good meal here twice during our vacation. The service was really great! Fast, courteous and friendly. Our large dog was also welcome and was offered a drink. An extra thank you for that! Gladly a great review for the Baumeisterhaus and see you next time. 😃

We had fried Maultaschen with salad and cheese pätzle. Both dishes were very bland and tasteless. Service very friendly and accommodating, restaurant itself quaint, cozy.. However, since the taste of eating is the most important point in a rating for me, unfortunately it only gets 2 stars.

The ambience is very nice with the construction and the half-timbering. The Jägersschnitzel was delicious, unfortunately my onion roast was not good medium rare and it was completely cooked through and therefore very dry. Condition apologized profusely and got a coffee on the house.

Absolute disaster. Food came on a completely dirty plate. When I complained about it, the waiter took the plate with him, but came back two minutes later; apparently they just wiped the edge of the plate. Disgusting. The fries were dry and tasted like old fat. The schnitzel was burnt and was simply "served" with the burnt side down. This is no way to handle food and paying guests. The furnishings are old and worn out, the toilets were broken and dirty. If I had seen them before, I would have walked out backwards.

The tomato soup as an appetizer is very rich, and you can taste it as if it were boiled with natural tomatoes. The fish fillet is fresh and delicious. It is paired with sour sauce and potato salad, which is very satisfying. The fruit-pickled vanilla ice cream at the end is sour and sweet with the soft texture of vanilla ice cream. It is a very comfortable meal. BTW, the boss’s son is super cute

Stopped by by chance and tested it. Quite simply explained: Great! A really nice restaurant, suits Rothenburg, old but really chic. Great pub, bar. I really liked it. The food was really tasty, the price-performance ratio was great! Very nice service, food arrived very quickly, even though it was busy and tasted really good. Serves home-style cooking such as pork knuckles, roasts, cheese spaetzle and steak. A small drawback, but really a small thing: the menu was simply a laminated sheet, which I didn't like. But ok.

The food was good, the service was great! Contrary to other statements, payment by credit card is very possible! We sat here to drink some white wine and beer.

Payment is by cash only. Please note that credit cards cannot be used. The fish dish was sautéed in butter and sprinkled with almonds, and the seasoning was light and delicious. Why is it that in Germany cappuccino comes in a mug, but latte macchiato comes in a glass? (I was surprised at how hot it was) It was a Saturday, so it was about 70% full. The young male waiter doesn't bring me menus unless I tell him to, doesn't listen to my orders, and is generally inconsiderate. The middle-aged waiter also asked for the bill three times and finally brought it. During that time, for some reason, other customers' bills were handled immediately and I thought they were being discriminated against. However, the food came out quickly and tasted good, and they even brought a plate for two people to share without me having to ask, so overall I think it was good.

We came across the restaurant by chance and were really very satisfied. The waiters were all very friendly and really good. There's something for everyone on the menu. We enjoyed our food very much. Great location, you feel a bit like grandpa at the kitchen table (positive).

You can eat great here and there is a nice selection of beer. It's worth a visit

Waren froh, dass wir um 15 Uhr noch ein warmes Essen so spontan in Rothenburg an einem Feiertag bekamen. Nette Bedienungen. Das Essen war sehr unterschiedlich. Die Bratwurst mit dem Kraut war sehr gut, das Schnitzel voll in Ordnung und die Lende mit den Fertigspätzchen und der Fertigsauce waren alles andere als gut. Es hat wie aufgewärmt geschmeckt. Die Lende war als solche gar nicht mehr zu erkennen. Das Ambiente kompensiert für das Essen.

The roasted pig's feet are delicious! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, easy to split into bones Served with red cabbage and potato gnocchi, the portion is quite filling!

The white beer is worth a try! The CP value of the package is pretty good

Fry the schnitzel in a pan that is too hot, use the sauce from the bag. You had to sense pepper in the sauce. Don't come back.

The style of the restaurant matches the old town. Old building with old furniture. The small courtyard is really nice. Service was good. Service is nice and accommodating. The food came very quickly. But there was no small side dish of salad or something like that.

The goulash soup, salty, without bread and minimalistically little in the bowl. The service is not worth further comment. Never again.

The food was okay and the portion size was completely sufficient. The service was consistently friendly and of a high standard. The dishes were good, but you would expect a pepper cream sauce to contain whole peppercorns, which is not the case here. When I asked, I was given some coarsely ground pepper at the table, otherwise I wouldn't have tasted pepper sauce here. In my opinion, the kitchen here works with ready-made products that you can taste. Based on my first impression, I was expecting something more/different. Despite being busy, the waiting time was perfectly fine. The ambience is nice and you can see the age of the house. This was built in 1596. Unfortunately, I had to realize that since I took the picture for the postcard of the house, apart from the color of the tablecloth, nothing has changed in the furnishings and there is still a 4-digit zip code on the postcard (I'll put the picture in the mid-70s). Overall, a great location and a house steeped in history Could do a lot more. The price is a bit high, as there is no side salad as standard but has to be ordered separately if you want it.

This restaurant was one of the first places we ate when we got to Germany. The food was actually delicious and we enjoyed our meal with a view! It was recommended by our guide and we took advantage of it! The courtyard is now covered but the view is still beautiful!

Atmosphäre im Innenhof ist sehr schön, das Essen ist... naja, für 20€ Schnitzel mit Bier erwartet man besser. Kundenservice war aber schlecht, den Untersetzer hat der Ober buchstäblich auf dem Tisch geworfen. Wenn man was deutsches essen will, gibt's was besseres.

The potato soup is not salty, neither the marinated beef the soft potato ball is the most wonderful ！Before here the German cousin in Munich dried me up！ It is my luck that dining here ,a historical oasis

A nice and clean restaurant with a good atmosphere, nice medieval decor and the staff were friendly. Would recommend as the food was served promptly and was tasty. Overall a good meal.

We were guests on June 23rd, 2024. The ambience is old-fashioned and inconsistent - you can tell that not much heart and soul is invested here anymore. The worn furniture and the tasteless table setting confirm this impression. The service was surprisingly good! The food, however, was weak. It happened far too quickly and at the expense of quality. The knuckle was limp. The trout fillet had countless bones. A pity! There is so much potential here. I would not visit this restaurant again and unfortunately I cannot recommend it.

We had pork knuckle, the skin was a bit chewy. Dark beer was so smooth, not bitter.

The city is definitely worth a trip. You feel like you've been transported to the Middle Ages. The restaurant is very rustic and decorated in a very special way. We were really impressed.

I took a day trip and was recommended by the tour guide to bring us for a meal. The food was terrible, the waiter had a bad attitude, and the change was lost.

We had a great experience at Baumeisterhaus. The service was warm and attentive, ambiance was good, and the food was great too. I'm puzzled by the poor reviews - give this place a shot if you're in Rothenburg! We had the Franconian roasted sausage with asparagus (spargle) as it was in season, and the Maultasche. The Riesling complimented the meal nicely.

Super nice waiters. Super Service. We only had a coffee, but the service was a thousand times warmer than in the cafe opposite.

Food was really good, the Baumeisterpfanne had tender and good meat. The Landsknecht pan was also very rich and tasty. Very friendly staff and wonderful ambience, but this is certainly a matter of taste. The prices are completely justified even at the current time.

Two stars for the ambience, friendliness of the waiters, fried Maultaschen on a salad bouquet. Deduction for the asparagus dish. €20.50 for 2 potato halves, four asparagus spears and an underground, small schnitzel, not pounded. Hollandaise sauce +€3.50 surcharge, was not included in the main course. I'd be happy to pay if it had been homemade. Price not justified. As a chef, I wouldn't have put out a meal like that.

As a vegetarian, it's not easy to find something that fills you up. And I was really excited when I was given the opportunity to eat vegan patties with dumplings and red cabbage plus the delicious sauce. So tip top and now my favorite in Rothenburg. The location makes a special impression “in the inner courtyard”. Vegetarian and vegan selection is very small here, but it is available (I can remember 2 vegetarian dishes (cheese spaetzle and a mushroom cream dish) on the main menu, the vegan option was only on the board in the entrance area, so how regularly is it offered and It wasn't clear whether the offering here was constant or changing. The food came quickly, was prepared "like at home" and was OK, but not exciting. But it was okay for us because we didn't have the largest selection on a Sunday in January at open restaurants.

Cheese spaetzle is terribly bad. Spaetzle from the package and carelessly sprinkled with industrial cheese. It's been a long time since I've eaten such bad spaetzle. The service was friendly, but we had to wait a long time for everything. We then went to the checkout to pay because otherwise we would probably still be sitting there. Ambiance is nice, but already showing its age.

Grab a beer while you're taking a break. A long-established store with a sense of history is definitely good. I came in around 3pm and they let me sit in the back even if I just had a drink.

We went to this place for a coffee and a dessert, it was delicious 😋 the atmosphere of the place is unique, I find it interesting to see how they manage to maintain a place this old. As for attention, it is normal.

Das erste mal in diesem Städtchen gewesen, nichts hatte offen gehabt um 16 Uhr, also sind wir hier rein. Das Essen war Solala. Der Schnitzel war aus der Fritteuse und hat nach Fisch geschmeckt, als ob Fisch davor drin war. Die Knödel waren gummiartig und der Blaukraut war eine Pampe, "frisch" aus dem Glas und nicht selber gemacht. Die Haxe war trocken. Vorspeisen wie Salat oder Suppe wurden garnicht angeboten. Das einzige was wirklich gut war, war der Kuchen. Das Restaurant ist aufjedenfall eine Tourifalle, denn vorm Restaurant steht die Speisekarte in mehreren Sprachen. Als Koch weiß ich das man solchne Restaurants meiden soll. Desweiteren der Kellner war nett, aber bei der Bezahlung wurde nicht gefragt, ob man bar oder mit ec zahlen möchte, was eigentlich üblich ist in einem Restaurant.

The food came very quickly and we also enjoyed it....Spätzle, sauce and potato salad clearly from the prepackaged and the pork fillet also tasted like it had been thawed....for this price it's just outrageous and overpriced....it's tempting Unfortunately, the beautiful ambience turns into a tourist trap. 😞

...unfortunately the food didn't even deserve one star. The spaetzle was cold. After a complaint, cold spaetzle was also put on the plate. We spent the rest of the evening (venison goulash, spaetzle and zander fillet) in the toilet. No reduction in price, despite bones in the fish fillet, cold food, double indication of dissatisfaction with the food. The staff was friendly, but chatted on their private cell phones and was therefore difficult to be available to guests. The atmosphere is outdated and the toilets are not clean. 50€ for two people was much too expensive. Conclusion: we probably won't visit here again!

There was very little cheese in Käsespätzle. Turkey wasn't that tasty. Atmosphere is really nice. You feel like you're in 1600 years. Design is great too!

We were very well served, despite the restaurant being very busy on a Christmas Eve lunch. The waiter who served us was extremely kind and friendly, the food (goulash and spätzle) were excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable.

Wer gerne kalte Kartoffeln mit Sauerkraut, dass lauwarm und mit zuviel Essig serviert wird, mag, ist hier richtig. Die Bratwurst war aber super lecker. Insgesamt modernisierungswürdig. Insbesondere die Toiletten. Hat meiner Meinung nach leider seinen Zenit überschritten. Wirkt auf mich alles ein bisschen pflegebedürftig.

Nicht zu empfehlen. Bedingungen unsympathisch. Inhaberin sehr unsympathisch. Bedingungen sehr langsam.

We stopped here during our tour of Rothenburg, as it was recommended by our tour guide. I am not sure if there is some kind of incentive for the guides, but the restaurant was so cute and we had a nice meal. We had the traditional sausage with sauerkraut and potatoes and a couple of glasses of Franconian white wine. The food was good and was perfect for a rainy touristy day.

Wir sind zufällig auf das Restaurant Baumeisterhaus aufmerksam geworden. Das Ambiente ist wirklich schön, man sitzt mitten in einem historischen Innenhof. Das Essen ist von der Portion zwar ausreichend, aber die Qualität lässt zu wünschen übrig: Die "Salatkomposition" machte den Anschein, aus der Dose zu sein, die Salatblätter waren teilweise nicht mehr frisch. Das beigelegte Brot war sehr trocken und weit von einem frischen Zustand entfernt. Die veganen Bratlinge waren grundsätzlich abnehmbar, der beigelegte Salat wies allerdings die gleichen Mängel wie oben beschrieben auf. Insbesondere der Kartoffelsalat war auch für das ungeübte Auge leicht als Fertigprodukt zu enttarnen. Alles in allem enttäuschend & nicht empfehlenswert.

Wir können die negativen Eindrücken nicht nachvollziehen. Die Kellner waren sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und dabei nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen war gut, die Tischdecken sauber und der hintere Innenhof ist wunderschön, die Plätze im vorderen Bereich sind etwas dunkel. Die Peise der Eiskarte fanden wir sehr günstig, die Getränkepreise sind nicht auf der Karte aufgeführt, waren aber auch in Ordnung. Bier 0,5 l 3,50€,Spezi 0,4l 3,90€.

Wir haben hier spontan zu Mittag gegessen. Man sitzt schön im alten Innenhof, das Essen ist gut und das Personal freundlich. Es gibt durchgehend warme Küche. Das Restaurant ist auf Touristen eingestellt.

We had a wonderful meal here which great friendly service by Stephen. Great value for the quality of food we had. Would highly recommend the sausage and the roast pork with red cabbage. We will be back !!!

구글 평이 안좋아 걱정했지만 나름 독일에서 많은 식당을 다녀본 입장에서는 괜찮은 곳임. 영어 잘 통하고 친절함.

Das Essen war unterirdisch... Die selbstgemachten Cevapcici waren vermutlich aufgetaut, tot fritiert, innen hohl und furztrocken. Die Kartoffelpuffer waren mehr als knusprig. Die Schweinshaxe hatte leider keine knusprige Haut, nur schwabbeliges Fett, zusammen mit dem sauren Rotkohl, den Fertigknödeln und der nichtssagenden Soße einfach nur mies... Der Service war sehr bemüht und hat nach Reklamation des Essens zumindest die Cevapcici nicht berechnet. Das Ambiente ist urig und schön. Ich würde hier aber nie wieder Essen bestellen, wenn nicht grundlegend an den Speisen alles verbessert wird. Vielleicht sollten die Küchencrew und der Chef regelmäßig selbst probieren.

Optisch ein recht schönes Gasthaus, etwas dunkel im vorderen Bereichen. Hinten ist es heller und offener. Service war nett und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war aber leider nur unterer Durchschnitt. Wir hatten Spargel mit Kartoffeln und einen "Landsknechtsteller" (effektiv Linsen mit Spätzle). Beide Gerichte recht lieblos angerichtet. Die Spätzle zum Landsknechtsteller waren sehr sicher aus der Packung, dazu noch die trockenen, nichtmal die frischen aus der Kühltheke. Selbstgemachte oder zumindest die gekühlten Spätzle würden anders aussehen. Als Schwabe kennt man sich da aus. Die geräucherte Wurst war aber sehr gut! Linsen geschmacklich auch in Ordnung. Die Portion war gerade noch ok von der Größe. Viel Hunger sollte man aber nicht haben. Der Spargel mit Kartoffeln eher enttäuschend. Geschmacklich eher fad, Portion für den Preis sehr klein. Drei große und drei kleine Stangen Spargel und dazu eine Kartoffel, offensichtlich halbiert für mehr optische Menge. Dazu Sauce Hollandaise die augenscheinlich auch nur aus der Packung war. Ein zweites Mal würden wir aber definitiv nicht kommen.

Das Essen war unterer Durchschnitt, der Service war ok. Einzig das tolle Ambiente des Lokals rechtfertigt die drei Sterne.

Schönes uriges Restaurant mit gutem und freundlichen Servicepersonal. Die Baumeisterpfanne war eine üppige Portion und den Preis wert. Lecker Fleisch und selbstgemachte Bratkartoffeln. Auch die Suppen und das Rumpsteak waren sehr gut und absolut lecker. Soße schön kräftig. Super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

this place is has a super relaxed and quiet atmosphere, and is a great spot to chill out with friends or family. the service was great as they switched languages (german to english) and the food came very swiftly and tasted great. st the end, i ordered a hot chocolate and it was amazing, along with the other people i came with agreeing with me. definitely go here if you want a laid-back place to have a good meal.

Waren das erste Mal in Rothenburg und haben spontan entschieden hier zu essen. Die traditionelle, bayerische Schweinshaxe mit Knödel und Rotkraut hat einfach oberlecker geschmeckt und wir waren satt bis Abends. Torte und Co. konnten wir also nicht probieren. Aber das was wir gegessen haben war sehr gut!

Sehr zügige Bedienung und sehr sympathisch. Sehr schönes historisches Ambiente. Sehr leckeres Essen. Tolle Getränke Auswahl. Saubere Toiletten
