English menus are available, but you need to find a waiter who knows English first. Outdoor seats do not seem to be non-smoking, if you mind the smell of smoke, you can ask to sit indoors. Compared with other German restaurants in Munich, I personally think that the saltiness is acceptable to Asians. The portions are large, several dishes ordered come with a lot of carbohydrate side dishes such as French fries and potato noodles, and one portion is enough for one person to be full.

Great place to meet up with friends and enjoy some local Munich food and beer, been a few times for drinks food, dinner and lunch. Does not disappoint. Particularly enjoy the beer and large outdoor beer garden.

We had a big prom at the Schützengarten. The food was good, but the service was, unfortunately, absolutely terrible. Serving and clearing took FOREVER, so eating together was out of the question. Some waiters regularly walked out with only two empty plates while clearing.

The Augustiner Schützengarten is a bit away from the tourist hustle and bustle and therefore much more cozy than, for example, the Hofbräuhaus. Eight of us were in the beer garden, which is divided into a self-service area and a terrace with table service. We received quick and friendly service. We had a variety of dishes, including the classic roast pork. For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes). Everything was delicious and served promptly. Be careful with the Kaiserschmarrn if you order it with raisins; they are generously soaked in rum 😅 The price of the Schützengarten is really reasonable by Munich standards.

A beer garden in a beautiful location, but the beer is stingy. Poured under the tap, then refilled after a complaint and unnecessary arguments. Service actually gets zero out of 5 stars. A shame!

It's a nice place, location is good only for locals. Beer is good, the restaurant it the hose also. The food in the Biergarten was stale. The Toilets are really old and need renovation asap! Otherwise, a good place to bring the children, as there is space to play and run.

Unfortunately, the service was very slow; it took us at least a quarter of an hour to order. Other guests at other tables were also sitting there with empty glasses and waited forever.

12,90€ for half a chicken. If you want a side obviously extra. So we had French fries. I was stupid enough to take 3 packs of ketchup not knowing one pack is 70 cents each. What a joke. 22,90€ for half a chicken with fries and 3 ketchups. People by the beer tab super unfriendly, but they always are, so what did I expect. Maybe a full beer, but no didn’t happen. If you ask them to fill it up to where it should be at, they look at you and role there eyes. I grew up in Sendling. Used to love coming here. This beergarden is just honestly, really not good anymore.

The beer isn't being poured correctly. A 1-liter liter of beer is filled one-tenth below the calibration mark. It's poured very quickly and foamingly pushed toward the customer. Everything's done in a hurry. Most guests don't have a liter of beer in their mug!! I pointed this out when I bought the liter of beer the second time. It was refilled correctly without hesitation. What customer would dare do that?

Yes, unfortunately, I have to criticize the lack of a fish stand once again. Over the past few months, I (and other guests) have noticed that the popular fish stand is often unavailable or the stand remains closed. This classic dish is a highlight for many when visiting the Schützengarten – so its regular absence is a real shame. Especially at the summer festival. (The band didn't start until 5 p.m., even though the flyer advertised 3 p.m.) What a shame. Moreover, the culinary offerings overall still seem quite meat-heavy and unfortunately somewhat one-sided. These days, there are many uncomplicated ways to make the menu more varied – even with limited staffing. That works in your restaurant, too. Some vegetarian, seasonal, or modern snacks would certainly be well received and enhance the beer garden without losing the traditional flair. (See, for example, Menterschwaige.) Suggestions: Käsespatzen (cheese spaetzle), Kaspress/spinach/beetroot dumplings, tarte flambée, fried potatoes, veggie burgers, Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes), or similar. It's a shame to see that culinary potential is being wasted in such a beautiful setting. Perhaps small changes can achieve a lot – for new guests and those who enjoy coming back again and again. I had the absolute worst meal ever in the beer garden. Absolutely disgusting. The meatballs were full of gristle, spare ribs drowned in an unidentifiable sauce, dumplings were served with gravy, and sausage salad was made with the cheapest, coarsest sausage. Shame on you.

Nice beer garden June 2025: Unfortunately, the food in the beer garden was very poor. The schnitzel was a frozen product that wasn't good. Some of the fries were green. Additionally, mayo and ketchup cost 70 cents each.

I paid €23.50 for a cold portion of fries and a sausage that had been on the grill for four hours too long. That's extortionate and poor quality. NEVER AGAIN, SOMETHING LIKE THAT SHOULD BE BANNED. SHAME ON YOURSELF, SCHÜTZENGARTEN!

I had a pleasant visit to the Augustiner Schützen Garten, which is only about 5 minutes from the GS Hotel. The atmosphere is very pleasant and typically Bavarian, perfect for a relaxing break. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was truly delicious, which I was very impressed with, except for the extra fries, which were unfortunately far too salty. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit too windy for relaxing outside. Nevertheless, the garden is a lovely location overall, and I would go back!

The best roast beef with onions I've ever eaten. I can only recommend it.

A super great Bavarian beer garden with hearty food and tasty beer

We arrived at 8:40 p.m. and were immediately given the menu. We chose something to eat and ordered our drinks. We got our drinks fairly quickly. At 9:10 p.m., the waiter came and told us the kitchen was closed... I stood there in front of my companion like a complete idiot! If I close my kitchen at 9 p.m., I should at least mention it on the menu or train the staff better. Of course, the drinks we ordered were still charged. If I had no idea, then they could have at least made a concession out of goodwill!

Recommended for an after-work cyclist in spring or summer.

I really like both the restaurant and the beer garden. There are lots of people from the surrounding area here, and fewer tourists than in the city center. Kids have a great time playing. The food is delicious, and the service is friendly and very good. The atmosphere is Bavarian-modern. The best way to get there is by public transportation or by bike.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The price/performance ratio here was absolutely not right. The steak was good quality, but all the side dishes were nothing special. The salad and bread dumplings also tasted of wholesale produce. The portions overall were far too small, and almost €80 for two people is a real hefty sum. I expect better value. At least more homemade food.

In short: Super friendly service, good for kids, but the food was rather small and barely adequate. The service was quick and attentive. She gave us a great table for the child and also provided us with coloring materials. We had Munich schnitzel with fries, cheese spaetzle, and spaetzle with sauce. The schnitzel portion was small. The schnitzel and fries were rather small. The fries were rather salty. The schnitzel had little meat and a lot of breading, and the meat was so thin that there wasn't much meat left. The horseradish sauce further masked the meaty taste. The cheese spaetzle was okay, but there have been better options. Spaetzle with sauce was also just okay, but the sauce was rather watery and below average.

The five of us met up and had a wonderful evening with exceptionally delicious food. While four others took the S-Bahn (the station is just a stone's throw away), I drove myself and was surprised to find the parking lot almost full. A wedding party occupied most of the building, though we didn't notice. We had reserved inside and had a lovely view of the (beer) garden, which became somewhat dimmed at dusk when the floodlights in the parking lot came on. But you don't want to look out when the fun-loving group is sitting at the table and the delicious food is on it. The beer, I'm told, was fantastic, the Spezi was okay (the one from that brewery with a P is better). 😁 The service was great, courteous, fast, and always friendly. They even boast photography skills. Perhaps the weather will be better next time we visit, so we'll sit in the beer garden. Highly recommended!

We were on vacation in Munich at the beginning of March and, based on a voucher book, decided to eat at the Augustiner Schützengarten. A very nice, rustic atmosphere. The service was fantastic and friendly. And best of all... the food was absolutely delicious. Simply fantastic. We'll definitely be back for dinner on our next vacation (even without a voucher book).

After bouldering at the nearby Elements Hall (only about a 5-minute walk), we rounded off the evening at the Augustiner Schützengarten – and it was a very good decision. There were six of us, without a reservation, and we still got a nice spot in the sun right away. That was certainly a bit of luck, but not a given in a busy beer garden – a definite plus for a relaxed start. The service was consistently friendly and attentive. The waiters were polite and well-organized. Drinks and food arrived promptly, the food was hot and absolutely delicious – exactly what you'd expect from a traditional inn. No surprises, but no disappointments either. The restrooms were also clean and adequate – an often underestimated aspect, but certainly true here. We found the pricing to be fair. Definitely not overpriced by Munich standards, but rather appropriate for the quality and setting. One clear downside, however, is the parking situation: Those arriving by car will have to be lucky or be prepared to walk a few minutes. There are only a few parking spaces directly on site, which is unfortunately not unusual in a big city like Munich. Conclusion: The Augustiner Schützengarten offers a very good overall package – friendly service, delicious food, and a pleasant atmosphere. A little highlight or something special would have been needed to earn it a fifth star. But if you're looking for a solid and relaxed beer garden experience, this is definitely the place for you.

The atmosphere is very pleasant - whether in the cozy indoor area or outside in the spacious beer garden, you immediately feel at home. The self-service area in the garden is particularly nice and is ideal for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The dishes are not only a highlight in terms of taste, but also a real visual delight. Everything is lovingly prepared and you can immediately tell that the work here is done with quality and dedication. Whether classics or seasonal dishes – everything we tried was delicious! A place to come back – and with pleasure. Absolute recommendation!

The food was terrible. No flavor, no spice. Service was worse! The waiter had to be hunted down every time we needed something. Never came by to ask us what we needed or if everything was ok.... This was a totally forgettable experience.

DANGER !!! We were sitting in the service area of ​​the restaurant and had ordered two large bottles of Adelholzener STILL (non-carbonated). There were also two Adelholzener bottles. The bottle said nothing on it, but there was CARBON ACID in it. The plastic rings on the bottles were also completely missing. This suggests that both bottles were already open and that they and the bottles were filled by hand, probably with tap water. Please make sure that your water bottle is originally sealed. To charge €7.60. I think it's a shame for someone to bottle their own tap water. We also had 4 Viennese veal schnitzels. They were pounded so thin that the breading was thicker than the meat. Unfortunately, they were also very dry. 1 of the 4 schnitzels was extremely small with three end pieces for €30 per schnitzel! For us, it took 30 minutes outside on the serviced terrace for the waiter to come to us so that we could place our order.

Beautiful beer garden with lots of shade and a children's playground. We only drank a wheat beer and a Spezi but we saw that some of the glasses were only half full of beer and the rest was full of foam! For €12/measure a “no go” for me! However, the guests paid without complaining.

Yes, very nicely furnished, nice terrace on the 1st floor. It's just a shame that there is no elevator for barrier-free access. That or a stair lift would be a good investment.

The beer garden has two areas. One area is half covered and has services. In the second area you have to take care of yourself at the counter. Wonderfully located under large trees with an adjacent meadow, simply very relaxing. A wonderful opportunity to organize football or other activities on the meadow. Very nice and suitable for children. The roast pork for under €16 is highly recommended. The Augustiner beer needs no description :)...

Very nice beer garden and friendly staff at the bar. Unfortunately, the spare ribs were far too fatty and gristly. Unfortunately we couldn't eat it and had to leave the food with a guilty conscience. Too bad! But maybe it was just our choice and the rest tasted better :) It's also a matter of taste.

Simply a super-nice beer garden, just the way you want as a Munich resident, with delicious food, good beer and a relaxed social get-together. The service is friendly both in the self-service area and in the service area. The prices are a bit high, but no higher than in all other beer gardens in Munich. The restaurant for food and drink is definitely recommended! Particularly good: fresh Steckerlfisch and freshly made Kaiserschmarrn!

Kaiserschmarrn for 14.90 a small plate is tasty. The price is probably intentionally not shown on the boards because it is so expensive. When I ask the man at the counter, he tells me 12.90. Seems poorly organized.

Prices a little higher than the Munich average, but still within reason. Going to the toilet is a disaster - the steps need to be better marked. Waiter was on his toes. Food and beer were tasty. Paying by card is possible. There aren't many umbrellas set up. During the week, the mood/ambience had more to do with a sanatorium than a beer garden.

Disaster. Spacious restaurant, large beer garden. Toilet in restaurant overcrowded (too many guests). A server recommends the toilets outside the beer garden. They are outdated, not clean and toilet paper is probably overrated - all cabins are out of stock and empty. After it was already difficult to find a parking space, I was looking forward to the food. It was okay, but not outstanding. The toilet problem forced me to drive home earlier. The disappointment is certainly evident.

We ate together with friends indoors and reserved a table in advance. Nevertheless, we were seated in the middle of two groups of companies, so it was constantly very loud and someone was constantly walking around our table. The beer tasted stale, but the food (cordon bleu and roast pork) was tasty and fresh. Priced but more expensive than comparable Bavarian restaurants that serve the same quality and quantity. Nice beer garden, but beer is only sold by the measure, even with non-alcoholic beer 2 bottles are poured together but not sold individually - unfortunately it's a rip-off.

We where quite a big group. 9 adults and 7 kids. On a short notice they let us in with such a big group. Of course with that many kids we havent been an easy group. But the waiter did a golden level job. He tried to make everything possible even though one beer version ran out and they couldnt serve it anymore. But he was so good i gave 12€ tip on a 67€ bill.
