Königlicher Hirschgarten Restaurant & Biergarten & take away in München

Das Augustiner war perfekt temperiert. Dass man im Biergarten reservieren kann, war sehr angenehm. Licht und Schatten jedoch bei den Speisen: Leckerer Obatzter, das Hendl war kross und saftig. Die Spareribs waren dafür absoluter Müll!! Eine Frechheit, so einen Mist aus der Küche zu geben. Selbstredend hat das die Bedienung überhaupt nicht interessiert. Fazit: Nette Location, aber man muss bei den Speisen aufpassen, da sich der eine oder andere Zonk verbirgt.

Too often, the beer is poured just below the measuring line. When you politely ask for a small top-up, you're told, "Sneak away, once the foam is completely gone, it'll reach the measuring line." Very rude.

Very large beer garden, beautifully situated under trees

We spontaneously dropped in this evening. The beer garden was very busy. We sat inside and received a friendly welcome. After ordering, it only took five minutes for our food to arrive, despite the crowd. The food was delicious, and the dessert was fantastic 😍😍 Great respect to the waiters and kitchen crew who have everything under control and work perfectly as a team to satisfy everyone! Keep up the good work!

It's in a big park. There's an area with deers. There was an amusement park when we went. There's a big restaurant where you can taste beer and other German dishes. It's a nice place.

Beautifully located, this "old" beer garden is traditionally open for food. The bars are well-staffed and serve quickly. Numerous events, weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc., testify to the pleasant atmosphere. Easily accessible by public transport.

It is recommended to drink beer in large liter mugs with a very large beer garden, bretzel, bratwurst sausages and several kinds of German appetizers.

A male waiter is very rude and unfriendly. A group of us ordered food, and when he was serving the food, he yelled at us if someone didn’t answer him immediately. I didn’t speak German and when I went to check out, he was very impatient. After I paid he said “receipt”( he has strong accent, and just said one word, in a noisy environment ), and I didn’t understand it and was trying to leave. He was very rude and told to me “wait!”. After giving me the receipt, he said I should answer yes or no when he said receipt🙄. That’s a very upset thing when you go out to eat and you’re educated by a waiter 👎👎👎👎👎

Due to a thunderstorm, we had to move inside to the restaurant. As a result, we couldn't eat our homemade food and had to rely on the food provided. There was a group of 12 people. No one was particularly happy with the food. We should have left. What a shame!

The restaurant's expensive food with very small portions, attentive but overzealous service, and the focus on sales rather than the customer. The seating is quite pleasant, but if I'm in the area again, I'll go somewhere else.

Great beer garden with delicious food

We visited the Hirschgarten beer garden for the first time on a Sunday afternoon, in the waitress area. We were able to order drinks and food quite quickly and received both within a few minutes. It was very warm and busy that day, but the service was still very good. Everything was delicious, and the seating was really nice. The menu is very varied, so there's something for everyone. We'd love to come back the next time we're in Munich.

Spacious beer garden with everything your heart desires. Music is also available! Radler/ Maß 9.60 Tegernseer Hell. Food: all the classics. Less tourist trap than the Augustiner near Hackerbrücke. Best reached by public transport: Tram 16/17 from the main station. Alternatively, take the S-Bahn to Hirschgarten and Laim.

I haven't had such a fresh, creamy, and delicious Obadzda in ages. The beer is cold and refreshing, the pretzels are fresh, and there's enough room for everyone. Great experience, extras for the kitchen

Pretzels are charged separately from the Obatzda and cost €2 each. We ordered a share and received four pretzels. The menu says "pretzels." When we asked, we were told we didn't have to eat them! Never again...

The roast pork was good, the usual concrete crust was quite small, but I'm not that keen on that anyway. The gravy was good, no thickening taste. The coleslaw is extra and was good. I could have done without the parsley and cherry tomatoes, but they weren't too bad. My friends were also happy with the Obatzten (sweet potato wedges). The restaurant is quite tastefully decorated, and the waitresses are attentive even under pressure; the noise level can be quite high.

The food was good for the amount spent and the beer garden was well-filled. The positive thing was that the price of beer in the self-service area was €8.50. Unfortunately you can't get everything in one area. For example you can get beer and coffee somewhere else, but if you want water you have to walk away and the same goes for fish or Tegernseer beer. In the beer garden there is only Augustiner Hell! Edelstoff is only available in the restaurant, unfortunately that is my biggest negative point. Weissbier is also hard to find. However the staff are friendly and helpful. The clearing service works too. My rating 3.9 out of 5 points.

The food was OK, nothing special. The drinks were good too. The waiter was in a really bad mood. He yelled because he'd forgotten which dish belonged to which guest. And then he didn't want to accept card payments. Only when his colleague "persuaded" him did it stop being a problem. The other waiters were always trying hard, and our waiter seemed to want to call it a day. A truly poor performance by Munich standards.

For me, this is the most beautiful beer garden. Everything is just right here: the service, the food, and the ambiance. Afterwards, take a stroll through the Hirschgarten and digest your meal.

Good food and super friendly service. We were there again last week – a bit disappointed with the new owner. I ordered the watermelon salad, which was prepared differently than last year, and the portions were smaller. I also got two pieces of white bread for €1.40. The bread was quite dry and stale – I thought the price was absolutely outrageous. I only took a quick bite and then sent it back. It used to be my favorite beer garden!

Traditional Bavarian beer garden: Food is permitted in the beer garden. Beer and other beverages are available at the tavern. Traditional beer gardens in Bavaria are always unattended. This is not the case in the restaurant area, and bringing food is not permitted.

The Hirschgarten was a great, traditional beer garden when I was a child. The only thing that bothers me is that they only serve shandy in liter mugs. I'd rather get two half-liters.

A genuine beer garden under magnificent oak trees. The prices aren't quite as exorbitant as in the city center. A half-liter of beer for €4.40 and cheese spaetzle for €14 are still too much.

At first, it was quite nice, except for the demand for a larger tip. This irritated us a bit, since tipping is a unilateral declaration of intent and not mandatory. The young man explained to us exactly how much we should tip. It's outrageous to treat guests like this! That's why we only gave one star for the service. The food was good. Unfortunately, that was the end of our evening!

What can you say about a beer garden, especially since it's the largest in the world! Getting food and drinks is very easy, self-service, of course. The beer and meatloaf were really good. It's naturally very crowded and loud there—it's just a beer garden, after all. Directly adjacent is a large deer enclosure with very friendly animals.

The Hirschgarten is truly recommended! Our waiter, René Rosenbach, especially made our day. Despite being very busy, he was truly attentive and always had a very friendly smile on his face. We'd be happy to return, especially with the great staff! ☺️

Came for the deer, stayed for the food. Got a meal for three people, payed a bit over €30. Tip: if you wanna feed the deer, bring some carrots or apples with you.

The food was delicious and the service attentive. It would have been nice to have the food served at the same time. But I can understand that it's not so easy when some people order dishes from the beer garden and others from the regular menu! It's great that they also offer vegan dishes; it was delicious! But I'd like to have more choice, especially in the beer garden.

In der heutigen Zeit ist einfach ein Unding, das eine Getränk in 0,5l anzubieten, das andere nicht, wohlgemerkt an derselben Schänke. Ich möchte mir lieber entweder lieber mehrfach frisch holen oder eben nur ne halbe trinken. Auch möchte ich als Nicht-Alkoholiker, der für so nen Liter 2h bräuchte bei 30°C nicht nach 30 Minuten vor ner Plörre sitzen oder die Hälfte zurückgehen lassen. Also zwingt man die Leute hier zum Saufen? Nee, danke. Nach einigen Bewertungen hier, hab ich mir ohne Trinken natürlich auch nichts zu essen geholt. Können ihr Hefe ausm Krug selber trinken.

The food was excellent. The ambiance was equally good. However, pretzels were placed on your table without your asking, and then you were silently charged €2 per pretzel. Since we were traveling with a small child, we thought it was a nice gesture from the previously rude waiter who didn't like our table/seat choice in the half-full beer garden. However, that wasn't the case. Next time we'll eat somewhere else and enjoy the Hirschpark this way. ------------ Addendum: It's actually not allowed to serve and charge for side dishes without your asking!!!!!

DO NOT order the weisswurst (they just give you hot dogs). I recommend the Vienna schnitzel with fries it was delicious although heavy. Went for lunch and had an ok time but they do not serve tap water or allow you to drink from your water bottle in the restaurant

Probably the largest beer garden in Munich.

We ate here with the family on a Sunday. The food was fantastic, the pork was cooked to perfection – even despite the busy schedule. The mushroom cream sauce had real mushrooms, not just champignons. The Kaiserschmarren was also perfect in both consistency and flavor – I can only remember one time I've eaten better Kaiserschmarren. The service from Rene R. was also fantastic. Despite the large number of guests, he was attentive, made brilliant recommendations, and left us wanting for nothing. That's a skill you have to achieve as a waiter; most colleagues in other restaurants make mistakes with much less work and stress. Top service! Keep it up!

Zwischen Laim und Nymphenburg befindet sich der etwa 40 Hektar große Hirschgarten, der 1780 durch Kurfürst Carl Theodor angelegt wurde. Damals war es ein eingezäunter Tiergarten mit gut hundert Dam- und Edelhirschen. Neben der öffentlichen Parkanlage (mit Spielplätzen, Skaterbahn, Grillplätze, Liegewiesen usw.) befindet sich der heutige Biergarten vom Königlichen Hirschgarten mit ca. 8.000 Plätzen. Er ist der größte in München. Ein Teil ist SB und der andere mit Service. Man sitzt unter wunderschönen alten Linden und Kastanienbäume. An schönen Sommertagen kann es ziemlich voll werden. Schöner Ort zum Verweilen. Wir waren im Servicebereich und konnten von der Karte auswählen. Das Essen und die Getränke kamen sehr schnell, obwohl viel los war. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder. Die Halbe Augustiner 4,40, der Schoppen Grauburgunder 0,2 für 6 Euro, das war vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Hendl war durch und saftig, die Schupfnudeln geschmacklich sehr gut, aber leider lauwarm….. kann bei über 1.200 Gäste vorkommen…..

We're currently at the Hirschgarten on July 8, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. We sat outside at first, and when it started to rain, the waiter asked us if we'd prefer to sit inside. For me, as a Sauerland native with plenty of travel experience, I felt more than just a warm welcome. I got a wonderful table and the food was absolutely delicious (at absolutely fair prices)! In my opinion, highly recommended for people with limited mobility, and the staff were very attentive.

Ich bin Stammgast im Hirschgarten, aber heute abend war das Essen 😝. Das Flankensteak war zäh, nicht gewürzt. Wir sollten kleine Stücke schneiden, aber, nicht mal mit dem Steakmesser war es möglich das Fleisch zu schneiden. Keine Entschuldigung seitens der Küche, geschweige der Geschäftsführer. So schnell essen wir dort nicht mehr. PS: wenigstens war der Kaiserschmarrn, trotz kleinerPortion gut! Wenigstens ein Espresso und Schnäpsle aufs Haus wären angebracht gewesen

In short: Fast service, small portions, and the beer tends to be under-served. Conclusion: Go to the self-service neighbors for better value. Nice, cozy beer garden. Service is prompt and not unfriendly. The food wasn't bad, but the portions were rather small. We had zander fillet with curry sauce. The decorative spinach leaves were very good, the fried potatoes were very small but OK, and the fish was prepared like a North Sea fish. It was hard to say if it was good. But I think it was OK. My beer had too much foam. I observed at several tables that beer was served with too much foam. I had complained about it. Afterward, it seemed to improve. I don't know if that was a coincidence or systematic.

We visited Hirschgarten for the first time yesterday for Father's Day, and I'd like to write a review because we were so impressed. Friendly waiter, quick service, delicious food, and surprisingly reasonable prices. We'd love to come back!

Good selection of dishes. However, the four of us were only partially satisfied. Tables were always well-occupied. Service was good. Most of the rooms were quite large. Plenty of outdoor seating, including patio heaters.

This was by far the worst service I have ever had. The waiter was terribly rude, didn't speak English and didn't care. The worst was he forced us to pay a tip even when we said we didn't want to because of the terrible service.

I remembered the food as better. The quality was average at best; I had the impression that they were relying heavily on convenience foods (my personal impression). There are much better restaurants in Munich. The ambiance, however, is top-notch! The service was good, but not outstanding. Great for a beer 🍺 - I'd eat elsewhere. As far as I'm concerned, the food can cost twice as much if the quality is just right. Delicious!

Munich's coziest beer garden. Despite its size, it's a pleasant place to sit. There's plenty of space between the benches, and the service is fast and friendly. Overall, highly recommended.

Classic place. A must-go if you're in the area and the weather is allowing outside eating (there's inside options as well, but that would need a separate review). The service crew is always friendly. I'm amazed by this fact as the area they are serving is large and there's nearly always a lot of people. Regularly coming back to this place, either for the served area or for the beer garden. Both is worth it every time.

Dear Thomas, that was yesterday, Monday May 12th, unfortunately nothing at all! The watermelon salad was poorly prepared and lacked mint. The duck and Maibock were disappointing. The red cabbage side dishes could have at least come with a bay leaf, and dumplings without filling are a no-go for me either. You can tell when management and chefs aren't there. I'm definitely not coming back on Mondays. Service and ambiance... disorganized, chattering waiters three meters away, constantly looking at my table, seemed like the entire time. For at least 45 minutes, these two gentlemen had nothing to do. Incomprehensible responsibilities in the service... Three waiters after 30 minutes. "I can, but I'm not responsible," "I can take the drinks"... and then finally someone who took pity on us and took our food. ...

From almost a regular to never again. We loved the HiGa for many years. - Our 2nd living room. We were at HiGa yesterday - in the restaurant for Mother's Day (we rarely do that). After making a reservation by phone, there was a bit of chaos when allocating tables. But then we had a table. First they tried to bring the wrong food. - Then the food (hock and poacher's plate) was only lukewarm. And yes. I didn't check the bill, but 1 Helles 2 Mass and 1 Aperol Spritz too much on the bill? Sorry. But you'll never see us again... But the waiter was very nice. However, his rating suffers from the billing issue. (for the operator to understand: receipt table 507.1 19:22)
