Königlicher Hirschgarten Restaurant & Biergarten & take away in München

Dear Thomas, that was yesterday, Monday May 12th, unfortunately nothing at all! The watermelon salad was poorly prepared and lacked mint. The duck and Maibock were disappointing. The red cabbage side dishes could have at least come with a bay leaf, and dumplings without filling are a no-go for me either. You can tell when management and chefs aren't there. I'm definitely not coming back on Mondays. Service and ambiance... disorganized, chattering waiters three meters away, constantly looking at my table, seemed like the entire time. For at least 45 minutes, these two gentlemen had nothing to do. Incomprehensible responsibilities in the service... Three waiters after 30 minutes. "I can, but I'm not responsible," "I can take the drinks"... and then finally someone who took pity on us and took our food. ...

A beautifully situated, large beer garden. It's always nice to enjoy a cool Augustiner Hell in the shade of the trees. You are welcome to bring your own food. Drinks are not allowed, but that's perfectly fine. We always enjoy visiting the Hirschgarten.

From almost a regular to never again. We loved the HiGa for many years. - Our 2nd living room. We were at HiGa yesterday - in the restaurant for Mother's Day (we rarely do that). After making a reservation by phone, there was a bit of chaos when allocating tables. But then we had a table. First they tried to bring the wrong food. - Then the food (hock and poacher's plate) was only lukewarm. And yes. I didn't check the bill, but 1 Helles 2 Mass and 1 Aperol Spritz too much on the bill? Sorry. But you'll never see us again... But the waiter was very nice. However, his rating suffers from the billing issue. (for the operator to understand: receipt table 507.1 19:22)

You can easily order food if you understand English, and the waiters are also very friendly! The meat dishes have their own unique tastes, not too salty, heavy, but delicious! Highly recommended! It is not recommended to go to "Augustiner-Keller". It feels very bad and people who don't speak German will be discriminated against.

Great service and very tasty food! I particularly enjoyed the roast pork – I can definitely recommend it. The portions could be a bit larger for my taste, I was still a bit hungry afterwards and ordered a little something. Overall, a very nice visit!

Never been there for ages, it was nice there. Cozy, cold beer, delicious spare ribs. What we found terrible and can only be found at Augustiner hosts: black toilet attendants. Having outdated toilet staff is hardly an economic benefit. Then black, colonial demeanor. I don't want them to be unemployed... but... Since the tenant change in 2023, the quality of the food has been a medium catastrophe. A really bad price-performance ratio. A shame. The quality of the service has also declined significantly. The Augustiner-Bräu should urgently take action.

I'm impressed by how friendly, quick and flexible the staff are here - it was pretty full and we still had our drinks within a few minutes and the food after a short wait. Everything was delicious and the portion size was ideal so there was still room for dessert. I have never eaten better Kaiserschmarrn 👍

A very large beer garden. When the weather is good, things are sociable here. Old and young meet and chat over food and drink.

Food and service good, unfortunately the cranberries with the schnitzel cost an outrageous €3.50 extra (mayonnaise and ketchup would be free).

The food was very good, the meat was very tender. Had a lovely evening. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the bill. But 3 stars deducted because the waiter explained to the neighboring table, with foreigners, that the bill amount was without a tip and that they had to add the tip for him (the waiter didn't serve them at all). He took almost €15 from them. It's not possible to take advantage of your ignorance like that. And also to urge foreigners to tip!

Excellent cuisine, Bavarian traditional and crazy good!

I have been a regular guest at the Hirschgarten for many years, both in summer and winter. The new landlord, who took over the Hirschgarten two years ago, has a kitchen crew that brings excellent quality food to the table - more than recommended! The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine. The staff is friendly and attentive and appreciates the guests - you just feel at home. A very special compliment goes to the receptionist Sandra and the always smiling waiter Shahed!

Mind the back room if you prefer silence. Service is also better there because it is not that crowdy.

With the new landlord I changed my rating back up... the food in the restaurant is very good and the beer as well...

I had beer, meat and potatoes here on a sunny day. It was amazing and I felt like I was in Germany! You can pay by card, but you have to wait a little. The English menu was a QR code reader, but the signal was poor and it didn't display, so I took a photo of the German paper menu and translated it with Google Lens. The menu only had text and no photos.

Simply one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Munich

As always, this beer garden is simply wonderful. Especially in spring it is not that crowded and there are enough free places. The weather was a dream and so was our lunch from the lunch menu, which always has lots of delicious dishes on offer. Yes, you can stand it like that, the waitresses are super friendly and attentive and everything around it is great too.

A very nice, spacious beer garden, as you would expect from a beer garden in Munich. The food and drink is good, and the price is average for a beer garden, so not particularly cheap, but not overpriced either. Unfortunately, getting there by public transport is quite inconvenient, as the S-Bahn station of the same name is quite a walk away from the beer garden itself.

We went curling here and ate afterwards. It was a great evening! The prices are still ok.

The food is surprisingly below average for such a traditional establishment. The salad didn't have enough dressing. The main course (venison goulash with spaetzle) was okay, but I would like homemade spaetzle here. Service is great. Prices fair. The food offerings are surprisingly varied for a Bavarian restaurant. Atmosphere was good.

We were in Munich for 4 days and ate in the Hirschgarten for 3 evenings. The service in the beer garden in the afternoon was great, but inside in the evening it was incredibly fast. The kitchen needs to be great organized. Reservation was uncomplicated. The interior is beautiful and decorated in Bavarian style. The food is delicious. An absolute recommendation.

Food too expensive for the service and portions far too small. I had freshly prepared chive bread with lots of chives. Which was great at first glance. It tasted like old, cheap bread with way too little butter!!! The typical currywurst was served as 3 Viennese sausages with watery curry sauce in a small plastic container (sold forever at McDonald's. Great impression for guests from abroad 😯! Potato salad looks like it came from the supermarket. I would even say that the one from the supermarket tastes better.

Yesterday we had lunch with friends in the Hirschgarten. Duck 2x, 1x cheese spaetzle and venison goulash. We all enjoyed it

There were six of us and the order went quite well. Starters were ok, Obazda for 11.50 was priced high, but at least it comes with a pretzel, the paprika spread for 4.90 was grossly overpriced because the portion was very small and there was no bread (extra for 2 euros!!!), the wedding soup was good, the portion size too. About 15 minutes after the starter, the waiter remembered that one of the main courses was out. The time until the first main courses were served was quite long. The plates were warm, the food was rather lukewarm. The next main course came 5 minutes later, the next another 5 minutes. The last main course came and the first three were already finished. For me it is an absolute no-go that main courses are served with such a delay. A listlessly mumbled 'Sorry' doesn't help either. In the case of the Swabian plate, the meat was not fried medium, one piece was actually really tough, they were also very small, one was more of an end piece instead of a medallion. A mushroom, halved, was floating in the sauce. It tasted ok. The stuffed pepper was okay, the poacher's plate would have been good warmer, but not for a hungry person, the cream mushrooms with dumplings were fine, and the caramelized eggplant was also very good. The deer garden salad with goat cheese was nothing special and the portion was rather medium. The Kaiserschmarrn had a very strange consistency, greasy, unfortunately not fluffy at all, tasted good, but just not Kaiserschmarrn and the portion was very small. The service was ok, but didn't seem very motivated All in all it was ok, unfortunately not anymore. There is no reason for us to come back.

The Hirschgarten is always worth a visit. Whether in the service or self-service area, whether summer or winter. The beer garden food is of the usual quality, the restaurant has really improved over the last two years. We were there last Sunday for cake and Kaiserschmarrn and were very impressed. Add to that the delicious beer and the always good service.

As a Munich resident, this is the place where you have to go!!! Quietly located, deer garden in front of the door, ideal for a walk and you can literally smell Munich's history.

The speed at which the food was brought to the table after ordering was simply breathtaking. As soon as we ordered the food was already on the table. Crazy! Also the drinks. A very good organization! Small but, the freshly tapped beer was a long way from the calibration mark. And not just accidentally with one beer but with all the ones we ordered (a good 16 of them spread over the evening). Feel free to readjust when tapping. Otherwise the food tasted really good and the Kaiserschmarrn was the best I've eaten so far! 👍 A big compliment!! The waiters were very attentive and extremely friendly. Absolute recommendation and any time again when visiting Munich.

Really great pub. We spontaneously found space for a larger group and were looked after wonderfully. An exceptionally courteous service. We recommend the light from the wooden barrel for piercing and pouring into pre-cooled glasses. Due to the fresh snow, we had a winter wonderland in the spacious beer garden. How beautiful it must be there in late spring or late summer! Repeat factor: 100% Recommendation 100%

Stoped here for a few drinks before a concert we had near by. Good service, some great Bavarian beers and we also had a bit of a snack with their bratwurst small plates wich were really nice. Nothing amazing, but a great snack to accompany some beers!

Restaurant with Bavarian cuisine, but also some vegetarian/vegan dishes. We went curling first, these are really good natural ice rinks, no plastic. Afterwards we fortified ourselves in the restaurant, everyone enjoyed it.

Ich hatte mich auf Fleischpflanzl mit Kartoffelsalat gefreut - was dann kam war absolut unterirdisch. Noch nie habe ich so schlechte "Fleischpflanzerl" bekommen, ausser einmal in der Sana-Klinik: leicht säuerlicher Geschmack, staubtrocken, ungewürzt - ganz offensichlich war das ein fertigprodukt, das nach Herausnahme aus der Plastikverpackung nur ganz kurz die Pfanne gesehen hat. So ein schöner Biergarten und auch das Wirtshaus ist urig - wie kann man hier nur eine derart schlechte Küche bieten. Der Wein war auch schlecht eingeschenkt. NICHT ZU EMPFEHLEN!

Das Positive vorneweg: Selbst im hektischen Vorweihnachtsbetrieb bekamen wir ohne Reservierung an einem Freitagabend noch einen Tisch und der Service war trotz riesiger Weihnachtsfeier im Nachbarsaal freundlich, aufmerksam und humorvoll. Im Aussenbereich kann es im sommerlichen Hochbetrieb in Münchens größten Biergarten schon mal ruppig zugehen und die Schankkellner schenken nach Wies-n-Art ein; Auf der Wies-n finden viele Gäste das "mega", weil bekannt und eh egal, im Hirschgarten dagegen fühlt man sich hintergangen. Kann nur sagen: Augenzwinkernd nachschenken lassen und den Schatten der zahlreichen Kastanienbäume bei einer selbst mitgebrachten Brotzeit mit Freunden genießen. PS.: Im Preisvergleich von 60 Münchener Biergärten für 1 Maß Radler im SB-Bereich rangiert der Hirschgarten unverändert in der günstigeren unteren Hälfte!

Very small pork knuckle. Generally relatively small portions for Bavarian standards. Waiters could have been nicer, but they weren't unfriendly. We were also put in the same room as a huge group of exchange students, so it was very loud. However, I don't think that's a bad thing in a pub, it's relatively normal there.
