Extremely delicious, reasonably priced, and exceptionally friendly service. Everything you could want from a great Indian restaurant. The vegan options are also extremely tasty and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back!

I have never eaten better Indian food anywhere

The food was simply fantastic. The naan was amazing, and the vegetarian kofta in curry sauce was delicious. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. Very friendly staff. No dosas.

We had a wonderful evening at Ashoka. The food was great, authentically Indian and the portion sizes were perfect (we were full!). The vegetarian dishes were very tasty. We had Palak paneer and Chana masala (the latter was sublime!). The waiters were very polite and the service wasn’t rushed. They let us stay the whole evening. The vibe was very calming and cozy, and there was a joyful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. I would give it a 10/10 if the rating was not only until 5.

Beautifully decorated restaurant. The owner and staff were extremely hospitable. We felt truly at home. We were greeted personally by the manager, and to top it off, the food was absolutely delicious. A definite recommendation. We'd be happy to come back.

Super delicious Indian food. We ordered two starters, three different types of bread, and two main courses and were very full and satisfied at the end of the evening. The staff was polite and accommodating, and the wait for the food was short. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance. We would recommend it to our friends at any time.

An absolutely first-class experience. We've enjoyed coming to Ashoka for many years, and the quality is consistently excellent. For us, it's the best Indian restaurant in Germany. We discovered this restaurant through online research and were positively impressed. Authentic ambiance, extensive Indian cuisine, and incredibly delicious food. We were unfortunately 15 minutes late, but after we were informed, this wasn't a problem. We felt truly welcome and the restaurant was very busy. The service was attentive, very courteous, and hospitality was top priority. The value for money was 100% spot on, and we found a great place for Indian cuisine in Hamburg. We'd be happy to go back! 5 stars!

Even without a reservation on a Saturday evening, we managed to get a seat. Our order was taken promptly, and the food was on the table within 20 minutes. I had ordered my food extra spicy. Unfortunately, the spice wasn't that great... The portion size was really quite generous. You can pay by card...

We come here 4-5 times a year and we love it. We've tried a lot, and my personal highlights are the vegetarian dishes. I've tried so many Indian restaurants in Hamburg, but this is my number one.

Since I came to Germany four years ago, this is the only place that has managed to pair the drink with the food – without seeming overwhelming! The food was excellent, the atmosphere super pleasant. We ordered Coke – it came in a huge glass. We only ordered dessert, but they brought us three spoons without asking. We were truly very satisfied. We'd love to go back!

Delicious and authentic Indian restaurant right in St. Pauli. I've been here for dinner several times and have always been satisfied. The menu features typical North Indian dishes, especially curries. The selection of vegetarian and vegan options is very good. I particularly enjoyed the palak paneer. The prices are fair and the service is friendly. The atmosphere is down-to-earth yet cozy. I can definitely recommend the Indian restaurant Ashoka.

Wir waren von unserem Abend begeistert. Der Service war top und das Essen sehr lecker. Wir haben eine gemischte Vorspeisenplatte bestellt plus Pappadoms. Die diversen Chutneys und Dips waren besonders lecker mit einigen dabei, die nicht so "Standard" waren. Das fand ich gut. Auch unsere Hauptgerichte plus das Naan-Brot waren sehr lecker. Es wurde hier in den Bewertungen oft bemängelt, dass in dem Restaurant der Basmati extra bezahlt werden muss. Das war heute nicht der Fall!!! Das Feedback ist also angenommen worden. Auch das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war absolut in Ordnung.

We like to pick up the food. This time, vegetarian options with a variety of naans. Absolutely amazing. The prices are quite reasonable, but for me, the taste makes the food a highlight of the month.

I went to the restaurant with my boyfriend and we chose a starter together, followed by a main course each. For drinks, we each had a mango lassi and a Coke. - I definitely thought the food was good. Spicy means spicy. I would eat there again. - The service was also very friendly. - The ambiance was rather dim, which I'm not necessarily a fan of. Another table even used their flashlight to see something on the menu.

Wirklich gutes Essen und sowas von netter, freundlicher und toller Service! Schönes Ambiente und auch wenige Tische draußen. Man wird gefragt, wie scharf das Essen sein soll - wenn‘s zu scharf ist, dann würden die Betreiber es nochmal kochen. Total nett.

A truly delicious Indian restaurant. A small beer garden on the street, but well-separated by plenty of greenery. The interior also boasts a beautiful oriental decor. The food was absolutely delicious, with all the spices creating a flavor explosion.

We've been to many different Indian restaurants, but we keep coming back here. The price is, in my opinion, above average for a good Indian restaurant—but it's worth it. The service is fantastic every time: prompt, friendly, and attentive. The food tastes excellent, but I find the portions just about adequate. You can also choose your preferred spice level (mildly spicy, European spicy, or Indian spicy).

I've never had such good Indian food. It was absolutely delicious. We had spicy food and found it pleasantly hot. The service was excellent. We spontaneously got a table at exactly 5 p.m.

Very friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, where mild is actually mild and spicy is actually spicy. A lovely atmosphere, also suitable for children. There are also a few seats outside, shaded by hedges.

The food itself is delicious, but the prices are way too expensive. €30 for a regular meal plus rice, naan, and a drink is simply too much for an Indian. I won't be coming back.

If you don’t stand hot spicy, ask specifically for mild meal. Here hot spicy is the default.

A MUST every time we're in Hamburg. From the beautiful ambiance and very friendly staff to the incredibly delicious food, everything is always top-notch. Also worth mentioning is the choice of different spice levels. No matter what we've ordered, it's always delicious. What we also love is the complimentary welcome drink from the kitchen, which we always get as a starter. We'll definitely be back.

Fantastic relaxing dining experience at this beautifully and tastefully decorated indian restaurant in the St. Pauli district. Friendly and calm service, helpful in choosing. We had papadam, naan, paneer pakora and main dishes. Everything was delicious. As for spiciness, we chose medium spicy and "more than" medium spicy respectively, but in hindsight "medium" would have been sufficiently hot. My lips were numb 😂 you just never know in advance. Considering that we shared everything with the exception of the main dishes, had neither coffee nor dessert, I felt this was a bit on the more expensive side. It was justified.

Ich hätte für das Essen 5 Sterne gegeben - aber…Ich war kürzlich bei Ihnen indisch essen und grundsätzlich hat mir das Essen gut geschmeckt. Allerdings gab es einen Punkt, der mich wirklich geärgert hat: Der Reis musste separat bezahlt werden. Gerade bei einem indischen Gericht erwarte ich, dass Reis selbstverständlich dazugehört – das ist kulinarisch wie auch kulturell ein fester Bestandteil. Ihn extra mit 3,50 € zu berechnen, wirkt auf mich eher wie eine künstliche Preisstaffelung und hinterlässt einen bitteren Beigeschmack, auch wenn das Essen an sich sehr lecker war Ich finde das strategisch unklug. Aus Kundensicht fühlt es sich nach versteckten Kosten an, was schnell dazu führen kann, dass Gäste sich beim nächsten Mal für ein anderes Restaurant entscheiden. Aus unternehmerischer Sicht wäre es meiner Meinung nach deutlich sinnvoller, die Preise insgesamt leicht anzuheben und dafür das Menü stimmig und vollständig anzubieten – das fällt kaum ins Gewicht, bringt aber über das Jahr gerechnet wahrscheinlich sogar mehr Einnahmen ein, ohne dass sich Gäste ärgern oder überrascht fühlen. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass diese Preispolitik kundenorientierter gestaltet ist – denn bei gutem Essen komme ich gern wieder. So aber bleibt leider ein negativer Eindruck zurück.

Friendly welcome, great service, delicious food - an all-round successful evening. A LITTLE TIP: When Pauli is playing next door at Millerntor, card payment only works to a limited extent or not at all - so it's better to take cash with you on such days.

Our visit to this restaurant was a completely successful experience. As soon as we entered, we noticed the stylish and cozy furnishings, which created a welcoming atmosphere. We particularly liked the proximity to the city center - perfect for relaxing after a stroll through the city. The food was simply fantastic! Each plate was not only presented in a visually appealing way, but also tasted perfectly. Particularly noteworthy is number 62, which was incredibly creamy and perfectly balanced in taste 😍 - a real highlight! The consistency was just right and every bite was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, so we felt comfortable at all times. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

Very nice shop, nice ambience and pleasant peace. Every longer journey is worth it. The staff are friendly, courteous and attentive. The quality of the food is top notch. Paid around €180 for 5 people. But they were more than worth it!! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Food was good, but not outstanding for me. The dal soup was quite runny and very little. I was very surprised about the pricing. Garlic Naan 1 bread 4.50 euros. The rice with the paneer, which was already quite expensive, costs 5.20 euros extra. I've never seen any Indian restaurant charge extra for rice with the main course like a curry.

Das Restaurant ist geschmackvoll, typisch indisch eingerichtet, aber nicht kitschig. Der Service ist sehr gut, super freundlich und aufmerksam. Auch das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Was jedoch bei den vielen Indern die ich bereits besucht habe noch nie der Fall war, das der Reis zum Curry mit 3,50 EXTRA bezahlt werden muss. Man bekommt ein wenig das Gefühl, dass so das Geld für den Gruß aus der Küche wieder reingeholt wird, der mit 1,80 auf der Karte steht. Daher einen Punkt Abzug.

We hebben hier gegeten met ons gezin, toen we binnen kwamen dachten we zitten we hier wel goed? Maar we werden erg vriendelijk ontvangen en het eten was ook heerlijk. Butter chicken is een aanrader!

There has been a big price increase since my last visit. Rice costs extra!! Plus, it was never properly communicated. Then €18-25 just for sauce and meat is great. Mango Lassi has remained the same price at €4.50, but has unfortunately shrunk to 0.2L (but it didn't seem less to me). It's a shame, we enjoyed being there, now we have to think about it.

Service is super good and the restaurant is really cozy. Unfortunately the food was completely overpriced for the quality. No absurd prices for Hamburg, but you realistically pay 25~ euros for an ok portion. Plus you get a small slice of naan for €3-4? Somehow I can't understand how the ratings are so consistently good
