Nice staff, very dark, very small selection of dishes, food was OK but too expensive when you even have to pay extra for rice and side dishes like mango chutney.

A cozy atmosphere, very friendly and cheerful staff and high quality food. It is reflected in the price. Recommended!

Authentic, delicious, worth the price...

Very nice shop, nice ambience and pleasant peace. Every longer journey is worth it. The staff are friendly, courteous and attentive. The quality of the food is top notch. Paid around €180 for 5 people. But they were more than worth it!! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Food was good, but not outstanding for me. The dal soup was quite runny and very little. I was very surprised about the pricing. Garlic Naan 1 bread 4.50 euros. The rice with the paneer, which was already quite expensive, costs 5.20 euros extra. I've never seen any Indian restaurant charge extra for rice with the main course like a curry.

Everything was great: selection, taste, service (attentive without being intrusive), ambience, price/performance ratio. There was free bread with dips beforehand. Very happy again :-)

The cozy, beautifully designed ambiance made it even more special. It was such a lovely experience, and I’d definitely love to come back if I’m ever in Hamburg again.

An absolute recommendation! Very friendly and attentive staff. The food (soup, extra bread, dips, main course and dessert) was well prepared and super tasty!!! The atmosphere was very cozy and you felt completely comfortable. This was certainly not our last visit to ASHOKA.

Das Restaurant ist geschmackvoll, typisch indisch eingerichtet, aber nicht kitschig. Der Service ist sehr gut, super freundlich und aufmerksam. Auch das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Was jedoch bei den vielen Indern die ich bereits besucht habe noch nie der Fall war, das der Reis zum Curry mit 3,50 EXTRA bezahlt werden muss. Man bekommt ein wenig das Gefühl, dass so das Geld für den Gruß aus der Küche wieder reingeholt wird, der mit 1,80 auf der Karte steht. Daher einen Punkt Abzug.

We hebben hier gegeten met ons gezin, toen we binnen kwamen dachten we zitten we hier wel goed? Maar we werden erg vriendelijk ontvangen en het eten was ook heerlijk. Butter chicken is een aanrader!

There has been a big price increase since my last visit. Rice costs extra!! Plus, it was never properly communicated. Then €18-25 just for sauce and meat is great. Mango Lassi has remained the same price at €4.50, but has unfortunately shrunk to 0.2L (but it didn't seem less to me). It's a shame, we enjoyed being there, now we have to think about it.

Service is super good and the restaurant is really cozy. Unfortunately the food was completely overpriced for the quality. No absurd prices for Hamburg, but you realistically pay 25~ euros for an ok portion. Plus you get a small slice of naan for €3-4? Somehow I can't understand how the ratings are so consistently good

It was very tasty and a nice interior. And it looks really nice from the outside too. There is also relaxing music, the toilet even had a seat cleaner and the people here are really nice. There are different choices because of the spiciness. You also have a large selection of wine types here! I would come again. One of the best places for indian food in Hamburg. We have tried Chicken Makhani with rotis and Naan. Finished with Mango lassi. Absolutely delicious!

La decoración, el personal y la comida es realmente indio. Tengo algunas alergias y son realmente útiles y mejor es que tienen un montón de opciones para las alergias pero también veganas y vegetarianas. Definitivamente no es la última vez que visito este restaurante, si es debido a viajes de negocios, eventos o viajes privados. I did visit this amazing restaurant due to my travels during the WindEnergy fair. The service is amazing, the food is amazing and just really authentic.. The decor, staff and food is just really Indian. I have some allergies and they are really helpful and better is that they have a lot of options for allergies but also Vegan and vegetarian. Definitely not the last time I visit this restaurant, if it is due to business travels, events or private travels. I will make recommendations to my clients and family 🤩 The only negative I can tell is that they only take cash for tips 😉 Thank you for a great experience 🇮🇳🌸

No hay negativos que escribir solo positivo desde el saludo amable al servicio atento y oportuno. La comida era de primera clase. Comí un poco más, pero me perdí el desayuno y el almuerzo de hoy y los plátanos y el litro de café no dejaron el hambre 😂 Mejor reservar ya que está lleno. Aterricé con suerte, ya que era bastante tranquilo a la llegada, pero empaqué media hora después. Direkt gegenüber des Millerntor Stadions. Nettes und ruhiges Restaurant mit leckerem Essen. Der Service war jederzeit ausgezeichnet, schnell, unaufdringlich und freundlich. Die Speisekarte bietet umfangreiche Naan und Tandoori-Brote, viele vegetarische Gerichte sowie Hähnchen- und Lammfleisch.

Completely overpriced! The price-performance ratio is simply not right. At €17 per main course, which also comes without rice, which by the way is completely untypical and totally wrong for an Indian restaurant, the food really has to blow you away. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, hence only 2 stars. I wouldn't go here again.

The food tasted very good and is actually okay given the prices given, but side dishes such as rice etc. have to be ordered separately and paid for, which reduces the price/performance ratio. The service is quick and friendly. The Ashoka, with its inviting ambience, is located directly at the Millerntor and is not far from the Reeperbahn.

We came across this Indian restaurant based on the good reviews. We are totally thrilled and will definitely come back. The service, the food and the ambience absolutely deserve the 5 stars.

The evening at Ashoka was surprisingly disappointing. We entered this restaurant with high expectations. The first impression was positive. Pleasant light and appropriate furnishings. However, the store seems to follow a principle of scarcity. The Mango Lasso, for example, costs just under 4 euros and has around 100ml. The main course was tiny and the biggest disappointment was the rice. This simply costs 3.50 extra (for an 18 euro dish). When I asked why the rice would cost extra, the answer was many people don't like rice (what kind of logic is that?). At Makhan it's a rip-off at its finest, I can't understand the good reviews. The food was also very bland and had little taste (Chicken Makhan). If you want to try a good Indian dish, you should avoid it if possible. As a tip to the owner, you could only give the cutlery at an additional cost. This way you could make even more profit.
