Nice apple wine shop in Sachsenhausen. Were there in a larger group on a Friday and had enough space. The food is good, home-style and the quality is good, but I still think that you can get some better veal schnitzels in Frankfurt for the price. Still recommended and the service was really quick and nice.

The service of this restaurant is completely catastrophic. Rude and impolite waiters who will treat you differently depending on whether you’re German or not. Constant feeling of discrimination as it really seemed I was not welcomed on the place. After a terrible first experience I decided to go there a second time and didn’t last more than 1 minute in the restaurant as the waiters were incredibly rude. Even worst, they have the guts to ask for a tip (getting upset if I don’t give it) after an horrendous service. Avoid this place at all costs. The food itself is okay, but doesn’t stand out compared to most of the German restaurants.

A large, quite cozy cider bar. The food is okay, but it doesn't come close to other comparable restaurants in Sachsenhausen. I found the cider itself less good than the one next door, for example. B. The service is generally incompetent, but above all rude, unfriendly and downright rude.

Solid schnitzel and apple wine for about 20 euro a meal

A classic place to eat traditional food in Frankfurt. They produce their own Apple Wine. The highlight is the great apple pie dessert. It's worth a visit, although we felt the service could have been more welcoming!

I have never encountered such appalling service at a restaurant. From the moment we were seated, we were completely ignored. No menu, no drink orders—just left to sit there while our server attended to other guests. After more than 30 minutes of waiting patiently, we had to ask for a menu, only to watch as he promptly served another table that arrived after us. When he finally bothered to bring the menu, he threw it onto our table. How charming. This pattern continued throughout our meal—constant neglect, blatant prioritization of other customers, and sheer indifference to our presence. Getting his attention to place our order required multiple waves and eye contact, yet he moved with such reluctance that it felt as though we were inconveniencing him. The food itself was decent, but how can one possibly enjoy a meal when the service is so infuriating? Any hopes of experiencing genuine German hospitality were completely shattered. The ordeal didn’t end there. Once we finished eating, we were forced into another agonizing waiting game just to get the check. Again, ignored. Again, multiple attempts to flag him down. Another thirty minutes of waiting while he took care of everyone but us. When I finally went inside to ask another staff member for assistance, I was met with the astonishingly indifferent response: “I don’t know where you sit.” A competent and professional employee would have simply asked, “Where is your table? Let me assist you.” But professionalism, it seems, is nonexistent at this establishment. Eventually, our server appeared, processed the payment, threw the receipt at us, and walked away without so much as a word. No “thank you,” no “have a nice day.” Nothing. Just pure, unfiltered rudeness. This restaurant is nothing but an overrated disgrace. If this is how they treat paying customers, they do not deserve to stay in business. Avoid this place at all costs.

I've known Wagner for a long time. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is getting worse and worse. Yesterday I had by far the worst schnitzel ever. It consisted only of stringy, cheap meat. It came with the cheesy fried potatoes and a completely boozy salad. It's a shame. Unfortunately, it's just mass-produced these days. I can only agree; the hand cheese was still okay… the rest was terrible! I rarely have stomach problems, but this was the end of it.

Heute Gruppen Abfertigung >10 Personen egal wo im Lokal, einfach furchtbar!!! Der Versuch 3-4 Personen "Vorne" zu reservieren wird abgelehnt. Reservierungssystem geändert!!! Hinkommen dazu setzen, vergesst es!!! Es gab Zeiten, da spürte man noch Frankfurter Blut?? Heute einfach nur furchtbar!!! Haxe gut, Äppler gut, der Mann der uns versorgt hat, prima! Am Ende noch ein Rat aus dem Römer...geht ins "Rad nach Seckbach", da ist es schöner!!!

Traditional food, for me the bratwurst would have had a sauce. The service person had a different opinion. Käsespätzle were already out shortly after 7 p.m.??? There are almost exclusively large tables where 10 people should sit…really tight, 8 is ok. The server didn't like that, even though all the tables were only equipped with glasses etc. for 8 people. Very loud, a bit of a marquee atmosphere...but that's fine, that's why you go there. Nothing for a quiet, relaxed dinner 😉

As a native of Hesse, I had to visit Wagner again. The last visit was 30 years ago... It was very nice. A visit here is definitely worth it. By the way, the prices were also quite ok. I would have thought it would have been much more expensive.

Anyone who has read my many 100 reviews on Google so far, which according to Google have been clicked on millions of times (images and texts) (Google keeps an absolutely precise and transparent record of them), will have also noticed that an estimated 95% of these reviews are full of praise. I prefer to praise and only criticize when it is extremely necessary and completely unavoidable. As is unfortunately the case in this case. But there are also initially positive things to report about the Wagner apple wine. If I'm not mistaken, it was probably 50 years ago that I first met Apfelwein Wagner. It is certainly to be understood as praise that the ambience has hardly changed to this day. The guests sit at the bare wooden tables, the many decorations dangle at the counter. Speaking of Bembel: the cider served was of very good quality and tasted delicious. The vegetarian dish, the green sauce with half eggs, was also extremely good. Both my companion and I found the green sauce excellent, even for Frankfurt requirements. But that also ends the positive part of the review. Unfortunately, I was tempted to order Schäufele. Because I have great memories of it - even though they go back decades. My wife was happy to bring me Schäufele from the butcher on Bergerstrasse if she wanted to do something special for me. I loved that tender, tender pink flesh that fell so easily from the shoulder bone. That was always a real treat for me. And it should happen again now, at least I hoped. I was very surprised when the very nice and approachable waiter brought a huge mountain of meat, even the Upper Bavarian knuckle would have looked tiny in comparison. Strangely enough, this meat was dark brown to black and the first attempt to cut a piece of meat from this seemingly rock-hard mountain failed. I therefore asked the waiter to have the meat removed from the bone in the kitchen, hoping that it would then be easier to enjoy. At first it felt like it took forever until this "feat" of triggering was accomplished in the kitchen. The meat was now literally ice cold! when it was brought back. That alone is an indication that the well-being of the guest is obviously not considered particularly important here. Resigned, I had the still huge mountain of meat packed up to cook at home. But even half an hour in the oven didn't change anything at all, the meat was inedible, rock hard, more reminiscent of an ancient ox. Even though I find it extremely difficult to throw away food, I had no other choice in this case. And I will probably have no choice but to definitely not visit Apfelwein Wagner again after this experience!

I visited on January 25, 2025 around 8pm. This is a famous Apple wine shop. When I told the number of people, I ended up sharing a table with a customer who was probably sitting alone. I ordered two apple wines and thought about what to cook before arriving. Apple wine is also available in non-alcoholic form. It's a refreshing drink with almost no sweetness. At first I was given a black English menu. When I tried to order schnitzel and today's stew, I was handed a red German menu with the types of today's stew written on it. The German menu is a little more detailed, so if you can read the internet, it might be more fun to translate it yourself and look at the German menu. I think an English menu is sufficient. The schnitzel was soft and delicious, similar to Japanese pork cutlet. Today's stew felt a little salty. I ordered soup at another restaurant, but it was a bit salty, so I felt that German soups tend to have a bit more flavor. For dessert, I ordered an apple strudel (apple strudel, which means apple swirl pie), which is a baked confectionery similar to an apple pie.It was very delicious and not too sweet.The waiter was very nice and fun.I think the bill for the two of us was around 10,000 yen.I left a 10% tip.If I have another chance to go to Frankfurt, I would like to ask him again.

The waitress is unfriendly and impatient.She forces people who look like tourists to pay 10% tips despite her service is probably the worst I have seen in Frankfurt. Middle-class, nice cider bar. We were there on a Saturday and overall the store was very busy. The waiters who were responsible for allocating seats made a good impression and seemed to have the organization of the tables and seats very well under control. Unfriendly service who refused to create two separate invoices even though we asked for one. The answer was “because of the tax office”. The same waitress treated the people at the next table so badly that we lost our appetite. Ordered 2x apple juice SCHORLE and got 2x apple juice. Food was okay. I'm not going here anymore.

Not recommended. Sunday evening at dinner as we arrive and sit down the waiter tells us that they DO NOT SERVE BEER but only CIDER. Food that I didn't like. At the nearby table a gentleman complains about his dish being ignored by the waiter, asks for a beer and with a toothy smile the waiter replies only cider.

We visited the Adolf (Apfelwein)Wagner restaurant in Frankfurt with a group of six people and were shocked by the behavior of the waitress, especially the woman with short white hair and glasses. From the beginning she was unfriendly, condescending and exhibited behavior that had clearly racist characteristics. Four of us ordered a schnitzel, one an apple strudel and the other just a cola. The waitress then made a snide comment: “You just want a Coke with your meal? Pfff.” An absolute impudence! Such behavior is completely unacceptable in the catering industry. When it came time to pay, despite her disrespectful behavior, we decided to round up the bill from €168 to €170. Instead of thanking us, she looked at us in horror and literally asked us to tip €5-10. We have never experienced such behavior! She also made a threatening remark: “I remember your faces.” To top it all off, she took away our table lamp but left the other guests' lamps standing. This discriminatory and condescending behavior was more than clear to us. We absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. The service is not only unprofessional but also shows no respect towards the guests. Anyone who values ​​friendliness and equal treatment should avoid this store.

Actually great, BUT... By mistake a meat loaf came without fried potatoes. When we pointed this out, the waiter admitted his mistake and promptly delivered the fried potatoes. However, these (more expensive) were billed separately, which was an absolute no-go for me. In addition, two 5-Bembel and one 6-Bembel somehow became 17 Ebbelwoi. Unfortunately, we only noticed these “inaccuracies” in the billing afterwards. I can only advise checking the bill carefully before paying.

The food was PERFECT. The staff were very rude and got angry easily when i asked something that i didn’t understand about the schnitzel. We had to share a table with other people. If you are 2-3 people, you will have to sit with strangers. Also the bill was 47,30€, i gave 50€ and he didn’t bring the change. He said thank you and left… Overall it was ok.
