Absolute highlight when it comes to good German cuisine. We ordered various dishes, including Wiener Schnitzel, Wiener-Style Schnitzel, pork knuckle and each dish deserved 5/5, including the respective side dishes. We recommend the potato salad and the green sauce. When it comes to taste, few can compete with this. The meal was rounded off with a dessert of the day, homemade tiramisu, which for us is the best tiramisu far and wide due to the mascarpone cream. Unfortunately, the service is not at the same level as the food (a little more attention would be appreciated), but the appearance is pleasant and friendly. We'll definitely be back.

It used to be the best restaurant in Bornheim. However, it has lost weight, portions are significantly smaller and more expensive, even compared to other restaurants.

If you are not european person, you should check your bill especially „the service fee“. 10% tip was without noticing included. We felt racism and were really disappointed.

It's a serious German restaurant. The clerks are also kind, but they can't speak English. There are no photos on the menu, so I think it would be a good idea to look it up in advance or use Google Translate.

Yes great, it's been ages since I got my food before I destroyed the first beer. In terms of portion size, even as an adult you don't have to worry, the taste and price are also really clear. There is also a heated, covered area for smokers. Basically a kind of winter garden. Atmo is casual but not flashy. All in all, my companion and I were very satisfied.

There has to be something wrong for a restaurant to be given a 1-star rating - unfortunately that was really the case here: 1. One of the schnitzels was literally dripping with fat, which I had never experienced before with a schnitzel. The taste was appropriate. All other dishes were also not convincing in terms of taste. 2. The waiting time for the food was almost exactly 1.5 hours - definitely too long. 3. You'll look almost in vain for vegetables or fish on the menu. Although the majority of people who visit a cider bar prefer hearty, meat-based cuisine, these days there are often at least one or two vegetarians, especially in larger groups. Other cider bars offer a much larger selection. 4. There was a strong, cold and unpleasant draft in our place the entire time. 5. Suddenly all the TVs in all the rooms were switched on for a football game - and at a very high volume, so that a reasonable conversation was hardly possible. 6. Card payments are only possible from €50 onwards – an absolute no-go in 2025. 7. When we pointed out the numerous grievances when paying and wanted to settle the bill without a tip, the waitress became even cheekier and loudly exclaimed: “Do you not want to pay a tip?” I had never experienced anything like this anywhere before. Conclusion: Once and never again. In Sachsenhausen there are a number of cider bars that are worlds better in all respects - from the quality of the food to the atmosphere to the friendliness.

Old, venerable Äppelwoi pub in Frankfurt Bornheim. Meeting place for the locals, rustic, quite a few places but otherwise there is no chance of reserving on the weekend. Everything on the menu is standard and there is also good Frankfurt cuisine. Yummy !!! Not for water drinkers, 0.7 Rosbacher mineral water 5.90 euros.

Solzer is the right place if you want to drink a good Äppelwein. The menu is extensive, everyone will find something suitable to eat and drink here. I will be there again, in Bornheim, Frankfurt am Main.

We ordered a goose to go with side dishes for Christmas Eve and were very excited. This was the best goose we ever had on Christmas Eve. (We've gotten them from various other restaurants over the last few years). The sauce and side dishes were plentiful and very tasty, and the price was reasonable. Ordering and picking up was uncomplicated.

We had pre-ordered goose legs with dumplings and red cabbage. The food was very tasty. The goose leg was crispy and juicy. I can only recommend the restaurant!

Too much old junk on the walls, too much decoration that makes no sense. Light not comfortable either. Sanitary areas often smell bad! It would be time to renovate the rooms and sanitary facilities. Actually nice rooms, but not a warm cosiness. Food moderately good, service rather cold and at 6 p.m. there was no space left inside for two hungry Hessians - everything was reserved. The Jägermeister was nice and cold.

Es ist verständlich, dass an einem Freitag abend und bei vollem Haus die Bedienung gestresst ist, aber seinen eigenen Stress so an den Gästen auszulassen, dass man sich komplett unwohl fühlt, geht einfach gar nicht. Das war extrem unverschämt. Essen war ok, aber auch eher Durchschnitt. Wie gut, dass es noch viele andere Apfelweinkneipen in Frankfurt gibt, das war kein schönes Erlebnis.

We enjoyed this place so much, it is off the beaten path and their staff were all super nice. Come early because they get very busy starting around 7PM. Food were amazing and large portions too. We definitely recommend this place - 1 train + 1 tram ride, super easy to reach.

Quaint place with decent cuisine. However, the pseudo-outside area (covered with radiant heaters) is a smoking area. You smell like cigarettes and it's just annoying. It's terrible that this still exists in a restaurant.

Food was excellent! Despite having a reservation, we were shown to an area that did not correspond to a reservation. As I said, the food was excellent, but the lemonade was a disaster. I had ordered a Sprite. If the waiter had informed me that it was not offered, I would have ordered another drink straight away. Something like that doesn't work at all.

One of the few remaining original Frankfurt restaurants on upper Bergerstrasse. Traditional dishes, well attended, mixed crowd, moderate prices and always friendly service. Easy to reach by public transport. For long-established Frankfurters, travelers, young and old, alone, in groups or with family.

Das war jetzt am Wochenende ein erneuter Spontantrip aus Norddeutschland nach Frankfurt. Die Berger Strasse war mir als Äppler-Gegend nicht bekannt. Der Besuch lohnt sich. Die Wirtschaft ist urig, die Bedienung allerfreundlichst, das Ambiente traumhaft. Ich hab' mich sehr zu Hause gefühlt. Ich möchte 6 (******) von 5 Sternchen vergeben.

In the overall rating I fluctuate between 3 and 4... but ultimately give it 4 stars. Basically, it is a rustic location where you are in good hands in a friendly atmosphere. The food is more of a loveless mass fare, the drinking is the focus. You can be lucky or unlucky with the waiters or service staff. Our group was served by two service staff, one young man was super friendly, attentive and quick, the other was arrogant and unfriendly.

Apfelwein Solter offers a traditional experience with a rustic atmosphere, perfect for large groups. The portions are generous and the quality of the food impresses with good taste. The friendly service underlines the cozy atmosphere, even if it remains rustic. A small disadvantage is that card payments are only possible from €50, which can sometimes be inconvenient. Food is delicious and the portions are huge for the price. However, I had a big piece of plastic in my sauce 😩. At least there was a coffee from the house but otherwise the situation was dismissed as if it could happen 🤷🏼‍♂️ . They could have at least given me the schnitzel on the house, but apparently that wasn't possible "because it was already in the system." 🤨 I also wonder how it can be that a restaurant of this rank and name can't prepare a cappuccino????🤔 I don't expect a high-class barista drink. But in my opinion, coffee with milk foam should be even easier to serve than a cream sauce without packaging waste.

I have rarely had such delicious Hessian food. Large portions, but still excellent quality. It's very nice to sit in the beer garden and you can reserve in advance for larger groups. Overall, great. P.S. The cider is very good!

Nevertheless, we didn't have to wait too long and everything tasted good, especially the green sauce. Reservations are recommended, especially when football is on (you can also sit in the next room at the same time without broadcasting). Card payment possible from €50.

Been there twice, the dish on the daily menu was sold out twice. Okay, it can happen. Unfortunately, 10-15 minutes before the kitchen closed there was no other option than schnitzel, not even the Cordon Bleu from the daily menu. I understood why that was the case when my schnitzel came with (far too little) green sauce. It was a frozen schnitzel, you could tell that it had been frozen. The meat was tough, the breading stuck to the schnitzel (no bubbles) and it arrived soaked in oil or fat.

Wir hatten Frankfurter Schitzel mit Grüner Soße und Bratkartoffeln. Bratkartoffeln uns Grüne Soße waren gut. Schnitzel zu trocken. Solzer Krüstchen, Schnitzel auf getostetem Brot und Spiegelei und grünem Beilagensalat. Schnitzel zu trocken, gerostetes Brot, verfeinert mit einer Gewürzmischung, einfach nur grottenschlecht. Beilagensalat schmeckt stark nach Maggi! Das alles hat nichts mit guter Frankfurter Küche zu tun. Der Wurstalat vom Nachbarn sah gut aus, aber da war auch wieder der Maggi Salat dabei.

The garden under a huge plane tree is a wonderful place on a summer day. The service is very friendly and quick. The food is average Frankfurt cuisine like you find and appreciate everywhere.

It’s a very good place to try real traditional Frankfurt food, we try the grilled pork and Frankfurt sausage, the best part was the desert the warm chocolate lava cake soooooo delicious:) if you can make a reservation as sometimes it can be full ✨

It's always busy, but there's plenty of space at the back with heated, covered tents. The portions are huge and the service is friendly. After dinner we were stuffed. There was plenty of beer and cider for a true Frankfurt experience.

Food was delicious (salad with goat cheese). The service was very unfriendly (at least at our table). When we asked for a purely green salad, the eyes were rolled and when we tried to take the rest of the food with us, we were looked at stupidly. In general the service was not very satisfactory.

The Solzer consistently offers good food and a very good cider, which its service staff conveys well. Recently, paying by card has only been possible from 50 EUR. This is of course a joke and raises doubts as to whether the restaurateurs who act like this will still hear the shots when two rolls next door can be paid for without cash. It seems embarrassing, but it fits so authentically into the 90s atmosphere of the restaurant.

Compared to other cider taverns in Frankfurt, it's quite expensive and no better. Service was quite unfriendly and not good :/ There were 10 people there, two of us ordered something vegetarian. The meat dishes came quite quickly, the vegetarian ones never came. After we asked, we were told “it’s over.” Do you want something else?” no sorry or anything like that. We then got fried potatoes with a few mushrooms for 18 euros. Unfortunately not recommended.

For dessert, the chocolate cake (you don't count calories, you eat them 🤪) The Äppler is good and tasty. There are also medlars 😉The Solzer Garden is covered in bad weather. Reservations advisable for larger groups. You can pay in cash or with card from €50.
