Äppelwoi.... classically good, food ok

It's always nice to return to a traditional cider farm like the "Apfelwein Dax". Super friendly and personable staff, as well as a cozy outdoor area. Good traditional home cooking and a good Äppler.

Went for lunch with friends and had a good time. Friendly staff, menu in German and English. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Recommend the place 👍🏻.

We entered and were immediately treated badly with less than polite manners and once seated they told us that they would not accept cards but only cash. When we asked for explanations they sent us out of the room

My two friends and I were poorly welcomed at the entrance, they made us sit down and they confirmed, politely, that we could only pay with cash. Outraged.

Rustic pub with typical Frankfurt food and drink. The furnishings are accordingly rustic, as it should be. Outside in the courtyard you can sit on beer tent sets, some with backrests. Very friendly service.

The service is just as rustic as the decor, and the food is not too expensive considering the quality. On the other hand, the prices for drinks are quite high, 3 euros for a 0.2 soda is pretty steep.

Make a reservation. Amazing food and service. Everything is good. Prices are very reasonable and you get big servings and great quality meals.

It took 3 times to make it in. So worth the wait! I recommend with all my heart the goulash soup. I also had the schnitzel with a peppercorn gravy and it was stunningly fantastic as well. Our waitress was incredibly fluent with languages and made our experience all the better. Just go, and if you don’t get in keep trying!!!!

We sat in the courtyard of the restaurant, the weather was ideal, all in all, it was a rustic and great atmosphere. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, the portions were large and, above all, delicious. Recommended!

The food is very tasty but I wouldn't recommend going with small children. This was the second time that we were very rudely told to “put a leash” on our children because the “waiters were running in and out with hot plates” and if the waiters then collided with the children, it wasn’t just their “waiters” who would have a problem but the children too.” There are much more child-friendly locations in Sachsenhausen like the Apfelwein Wagner or the Affentorschänke, which somehow manage to maneuver between the children and still remain nice.

Great option for trying out traditional food. They accept CASH ONLY. We had the schweizer schnitzel and the champignon schnitzel.

Very rustic location with typical Hessian dishes. There is also a beer garden. You should definitely make a reservation. There are vegan and vegetarian dishes, which are conveniently listed separately on one page of the Soeise menu. The price-performance ratio is right.

Portions are a little smaller than the neighboring competitors but the taste is better. Very pleasant atmosphere and despite the stress of many guests, always nice staff

I had fried fish, it was too well cooked and therefore very dry, I wouldn't recommend it, the atmosphere was great authentic, I liked it

Very good food at fair prices! The waitresses are very friendly, fast and attentive! For me it is a very nice cider bar, very interestingly designed with old metal signs. There is also a beautiful outdoor area in the backyard covered with awnings. Absolute recommendation for people who are looking for a very good and cozy cider bar!

5 years ago I gave it 5 stars. Was there again for the first time since Corona. The restaurant was well attended and initially had to wait 20 minutes for a free seat. Until then, as usual. However, when I opened the menu, I was no longer sure whether I had wandered into the Käfer-Schänke. Not only was the menu greatly reduced and my favorite dishes were eliminated without replacement, but the prices were also raised exorbitantly. Now a schnitzel costs over 20 euros and a pint costs 2.70 euros. Admittedly - the food was good - but due to the exorbitantly increased prices, it stuck in my throat a little. Still 4 stars.

It was my first time here and I would go to Dax a second time. The food was great, the service was very funny, and if you don't like fancy things, this is the place for you. Just a real apple wine bar in Frankfurt a.M. Sachsenhausen.

If you are looking for a restuarant with good service, then this is not the right place. The waiters are so unfriendly, that I wanted to leave the place. We made a reservation outside, but without any reason they placed us inside. When we asked for the readon they said that the manager decided that. Really? The machine for payment only accepts EC cards (and only the old ones), not even Mastercard or Visa, this is not normal in 2024, specially if you are going to spend 30 or 40€ minimum… Never coming back. They have to work a lot in the customer care…

I have never been treated so badly as a customer/guest! The waiters were unfriendly and cheeky and the boss's situation management also left a lot to be desired. For my birthday I wanted to have something cozy to eat and drink with 15 people and it was extremely important to me that we sat outside. During my search for terraces I came across Apfelwein Dax and found the 2 tables under the canopy to be perfect for us. So I called last Wednesday and reserved exactly these two tables outside for Sunday at 7 p.m. Rain was reported for the day and I asked if we would be protected from the rain. The employee on the phone kindly said the place would be just right for us in case it rained, as it would stay dry. On Saturday I called again to ask if we could come at 6 p.m. and the employee said yes. I had it confirmed again that we were sitting outside at the tables mentioned. It was with great joy that we went there on Sunday to show that we had been placed indoors. Two different groups were assigned to the two tables outside. 1 table was already full of people and the other table was free and reserved for 7pm. Of course I was surprised. When I commented that I had made a reservation for outside, the only answer from the employee was that there was only space inside and the terrace was closed and that was very sloppy and unfriendly! Not even a sorry. I briefly considered whether we should go because I lost the desire to leave my money there... But it was Sunday evening and we were a large group. So we decided to stay and leave straight after dinner, unlike what we had planned. At the table I asked the waitress again what exactly the whole thing was about, because on the way to the toilet I saw that people were sitting at the tables outside! The explanation was: it was raining (which was a surprise, as it was reported) and therefore the entire terrace was closed to the 2 tables under the roof. That's why the boss decided to put us in (all without calling me even though they had my number). There's nothing you could do about it. Where is the logic in sitting other people who had reserved outside at the tables under the umbrellas exactly where I had reserved and then letting us in??? I asked if we could at least sit at the other tables under the umbrellas, but we were told that it wasn't possible and that the waiters wouldn't serve at the other tables on the terrace. And what happened after that? 1: the second table under the canopy remained unoccupied until 8 p.m.!!! And the terrace (WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO STAY) gradually became almost full of other guests!!! But the horror continues: -Consistently incredibly unfriendly service (tone, gestures, facial expressions) That's how we all felt, without exception, at the two tables. -ONLY 4 cards FOR 15 PEOPLE -The waitress was too stupid that 2 people who came later were still ordering food and so she either didn't write down an order or forgot it and one of our group was left with an empty stomach -outdated technology- card reader does not read new EC cards -The waitress was too stupid that we wanted to pay separately and then one person entered the PIN incorrectly. She simply walked away without saying anything and left half of the group waiting for another 10 minutes with their wallet in their hand and the card reader on the table. (In the meantime she talked badly about us to the other super unfriendly employee) -there was no bye, thank you or goodbye to be heard. The food and prices were ok, but the evening was completely spoiled by the service.

2024/05/13 Meal: I ordered the traditional German Schnitzel with pesto, and apple pie for dessert. The quality of the pork is very good, the meat is tender and not too oily. The price is also very realistic and not too expensive. Service part: There was a waitress who was very enthusiastic about introducing the meals that day. The service attitude is very good. But the store can only use domestic credit cards. Foreign tourists should bring cash when spending money here.

Classic Frankfurt apple wine bar, delicious green sauce and schnitzel, the typically tiny Cola bottles (0.2 l) I can't recommend the side salad. Service is super nice.

The place was good, large traditional seating and a very accommodating menu. We got the veal schnitzel and it was really tasty, however was just a bit small, especially considering it’s not cheaply priced.

The food was very tasty. One evening I had the Tafelspitz, which I really enjoyed. I might have just added a little more horseradish to the sauce. On the second evening we had the Jägerschnitzel with a good amount of mushrooms in a delicious dark sauce. My friend had the green sauce with potatoes and egg and was thrilled, especially since she got her wish for extra potatoes and it was free. The store was full and it was quite loud. On the one hand, this contributes to the rustic ambience, but the table conversation is somewhat affected 😅. Would half-height room dividers perhaps be a useful addition? Next time I'm in Frankfurt I'll definitely try out the rest of the menu, I'm looking forward to it.

Typical Frankfurt Äppelwoi pub, where locals, regulars and insiders come, far away from the tourist bars. Either just for a glass (or a few) or with exceptionally good Hessian food! I know it through work and really enjoy going there. You have to be prepared for the fact that you don't have your "own" table, but may be seated somewhere else, but that's actually not a big deal! But reservations are an advantage, especially in the evening!

The portion is good, but the quality of the schnitzel wasn't that great. Unfortunately one side was a bit burnt. Price is okay. Super nice staff and a rustic atmosphere.

Wow! Even being a vegetarian I recommend this restaurant. Most of the options have meat but the service was really good and kind, fast kitchen and amazing food. Don’t leave without trying the typical Apfelwine!
