Ebbelwoi Unser in Frankfurt am Main

It was busy....book well in advance, we didn't and had to wait for 40 minutes for a space to sit and eventually eat. The food is traditional, it was tasty, it was OK. I am not convinced I would come back, it was an experience, and a one off for visiting Frankfurt, but doesn't need repeating. Very noisy and could not hear outselves, it was hot inside, and this is March, so lots of excess coats to place somewhere!

During our three-day stay in Frankfurt on a business trip, this is the restaurant where we ate best. Unfortunately, the quality of the food contrasts with the fact that only when paying the bill were we notified that credit cards were not accepted. Fortunately we had the cash to pay, but the problem will arise when the expense report is made in the company, as the policy provides for reimbursement only of electronically tracked expenses. I am sorry that an ideological choice of the owner, however respectable, is not communicated at the time of booking.

The food is good, home-style and the portions are relatively large. Friday evening when the owner is there and puts on his show. It's always really entertaining.

Everything was great except the diva who took care of the entertainment. In principle it's good, but woe betide you if there's a sound from the guests' area or something similar.

A mess with a capital C, I'm joking in the sense that it was very full and in my opinion they accepted more people than they should have. However they served us well and all together. It's not that the kitchen has a wide variety of dishes, but if you order a nice piece of meat you won't go wrong. Know that here it's either cash or cash, at least that's how it was for us, and it was written on the counter, they didn't say it when booking......if we didn't have it maybe we had to wash the dishes!!!

Even if you made a booking you might have to wait a long time, what is the point of booking? And if you didn’t book, the host would ask you to “wait” but without any explanation or a queuing system. Host attitude is really bad, but he would immediately put on a friendlier mask to any local residents. I barely give bad reviews but just can’t bear with such attitude.

The best Germanic restaurant in Frankfurt.staff are the best. Mispelchen is the best schnapps in all of Germany.

We came here very early on a Thursday before an event, so no reservation is necessary. It's definitely recommended for later and on weekends. They serve typical Ebbelwoikneipe specialties and even wine. The service was very friendly, and the food came quickly. The schnitzel was delicious; I've definitely had larger portions of Handkäs with better bread for the price. One criticism is that you can only pay in cash; that's simply no longer appropriate in 2025.

Fantastic place to eat and drink delicious beer. One of us is celiac and all the staff were very attentive, it is very much appreciated. “Thank you very much and danke shön!”

Good evening everyone. I wanted to report to you a terrible experience I had in this restaurant. We were unlucky, I say unlucky, to have managed to find a place in this restaurant. I can understand being told that we must be gone by 8:45 p.m. because the table is reserved. But after our main course we wanted a dessert which we were simply forbidden to leave even though it was 8:15 p.m. It’s true that it’s better to set a place than to serve dessert, but it’s humiliating. Furthermore, during the meal we sat at tables of 2 to 12 for a table of 10. It’s German conviviality that stops at the wallet. The final touch, after being cleared from the table, you had to pay in cash. In summary, if you are looking for an expensive canteen, stop by, if you are looking for a bitter restaurateur who is blowing because his tables don't empty quickly enough, go there. Finally, if you only have a credit card or iPhone, don’t go there. TYPICAL BUT NOT ECONOMIC WITHOUT FRIENDLY TO AVOID

We planned our bachelorette party's dinner here and it was really awesome. The food and drink was absolutely amazing and the portion sizes were more than fair for the price. The experience was perfectly rounded off with the shows in between, which consisted of songs, rude sayings and a lot of humor. So if you're in the mood for Hessian cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere and aren't from Offenbach, you should definitely take a look. P.S.: If you still want to take a look from Offenbach, you should have fun at your own expense ;)

Google Maps shows them open until midnight. Get there at 10:15pm, and already closed. Kitchen closed. Apparently whenever they want. SMH. For a country and a people so anal retentive about rules and following stupid ones to the letter, this is apparently an exception! So stupid! Just a waste of time. Completely unreliable information on Google. Which makes this restaurant completely unreliable for a traveler looking for an open restaurant.

Great shop, very authentic. The food was also good, the meat platter was a bit puny with two small sausages. But the taste is very good.

Genuine German restaurant serving classic German dishes. Nothing fancy, big long tables. By UK standards prices were reasonable. Was very busy. Super friendly staff. It is tucked away and they only take cash, there is an ATM close by

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant. Wir haben sowohl ihren Service als auch ihren Geschmack genossen. Ich kann sagen, dass es eines der besten Restaurants in dieser Region ist. Es liegt auch in einer sehr zentralen Gegend. Der Preis ist etwas hoch, aber das Essen ist sehr lecker, Geld spielt also keine Rolle.

A typical German restaurant with long tables and everyone seating next to each other, even though not knowing the person beside. Great experience, the food was very good, but the dessert was like instant pudding. A piece of advice, make sure you have a reservation.

Cash only! Would help if restaurant reminded people of that when you come in. Had to go to ATM after to come back and pay my bill.

Good food with a nice ambience!

The shop is definitely worth a visit. The food is very tasty and shows what the regional cuisine has to offer. The atmosphere is very rustic but has a certain charm that should not be underestimated.

Typical German cuisine, heavy food but good. Watch out for the regular portion of schnitzel - they serve two huge cutlets, maybe thin, but as big as a plate 😀 it was a big surprise for me, I would take half a portion. Beer is delicious! 🙂

Ok restaurant. Nice and polite staff, very fast preparation of meals. Unfortunately food was average, nothing special. I think it's good for a quick meal when you don't have high expectations. The climate was a bit odd, definitely historical but could use some refreshing. And in desperate need of deep cleaning. It was freezing cold in ladies room. Big minus for nit accepting credit cards, cash payment only.

The FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE WAS AMAZING AND LIT AF 🫨🤪🤩 The Apfelwein here is my favourite amongst the German restaurant I’ve tried around!!! Also the mispelchen is great! Me and my boyfriend really like their schnitzel with the grüne sauce 🤤 the mashed potato also taste so good I love the yapping comedy talk as well, even tho with my broken German I only understand 1/4 of it; but the vibes still fantastic! Definitely recommended to dine here! Remember to get a Reservation!!

Despite of the restaurant being full and there was only one server working, he worked very efficiently and still provided great service. Ambience was a bit loud as expected because it was a pub in the city center during rush hour. All in all we had a great experience.

I was there in a group with my colleagues and it was really a pleasant experience. The atmosphere of the store is relaxed and cozy, the staff is very friendly. The cider and local dishes were really delicious. The prices were also quite okay, I think they are fair. It's a good option to hang out with friends after work.

Arrive at 19:00 on May 23, 2024 Restaurant in the old town of Frankfurt, Germany It was a popular restaurant filled with customers' voices. We had the famous apple wine and delicious traditional food. The food was delicious, but it had a strong salty taste, so when I ate it with bread, mashed potatoes, and wine, the deliciousness of each ingredient added up and it was delicious.

For the price range, the restaurant is unfortunately not much better than any apple wine bar outside of Frankfurt. The menu offers very few and relatively expensive dishes. And what struck us as particularly negative was that the prices only allow you to pay in cash. For us it wasn't worth visiting the restaurant.

Even though we didn't have a reservation and it was very busy, we still got a seat and very tasty food and even better service. Simply a restaurant with charm and character that you rarely find in Frankfurt.

5 stars more than deserved. Even when making the reservation, which is definitely recommended, they were super friendly and that was also evident during our visit. Very friendly and attentive service, which was able to put a smile on our faces even as we said goodbye. The beer and cider tasted very good and the Frankfurter Schnitzel was also nice and juicy and tasted very good. Finally a cider farm where even the potatoes were on point. It's very comfortable to sit in because the place isn't too big. A successful visit. Please note: payment in cash.

Traditional German restaurant, with friendly and helpful staff! We liked the fact that it wasn't too touristy and we were with locals! The schnitzel was fantastic and the beef sausage! The beer is fantastic! On the only negatives, we asked for dessert and since it was 10:06 p.m. they very politely told us that the kitchen had already closed but they hadn't informed us, so we didn't have time to order and try dessert! So ask when you arrive what time the kitchen closes. I will definitely visit if I come to Frankfurt again!

What a great restaurant. Perfect last night of our trip to Frankfurt. Good mix of locals and tourists. They found a place for us even without a booking. Dining tables are long and sometimes shared with others, as is the way with many restaurants here. We got there early so if you intend to dine later I'd suggest you call and make a booking. This place is busy and I totally get why. We got the potato sausage with fried potatoes and the slaughter plate. Sounds grim but everything was delicious. The apple wine was lovely too. Friendly service and a very inclusive place for all kinds of people :)

We came here at short notice with a group of eight people. Called an hour in advance and it worked great, even though the restaurant was packed. It is very loud in the restaurant, but it is also very authentic. Stop at a typical Ebbelwoi pub in Alt-Sachs. All dishes are recommended, especially the Frankfurter Schnitzel and the hand patted meatball. Super nice staff who are on their toes. Simply a delight. In addition to the delicious food and ambience, there is also entertainment from the man of the house. I can only recommend a visit to Abbelwoi Unser to everyone.

Very unfriendly staff. The seating is far too crowded so that as many people as possible can come. Food looked carelessly prepared and payment was only possible in cash. You also had to queue at the checkout to pay. The time was limited and it was not possible to sit together comfortably. All in all not recommended Money seems to be the most important factor here and not customer service

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Frankfurt who wants a traditional German experience! The schnitzel was 10/10 - delicious! Only thing is you need to make a reservation, even for 2 people on a weekday. We were turned away on Tuesday because it was full but we came back on Wednesday with a reservation! CASH ONLY

The Ebbelwoi Unser apple winery in Sachsenhausen is a highlight of traditional Frankfurt hospitality! The ambience is warm and authentic – exactly what you would expect from a classic cider bar. The portions are generous, the price-performance ratio is very good, and the kitchen impresses with delicious German and Frankfurt specialties. The meatball and the schnitzel are particularly recommended. The staff is friendly, attentive and makes you feel completely comfortable. A very special highlight are the singing performances by the main wait staff on Fridays and Saturdays.

When we were 45 minutes into the restaurant, they kicked us out because the owner wanted to seat some friends at our table. The service is regrettable, the owner was rude and they charged us €2.90 for a glass of water (not bottled)

A great, rustic Sachsenhausen Abbelwoi pub. Very friendly attentive staff. The food is very good, only the Frankfurt green sauce could be improved. What you should also know is that the background noise in the restaurant is very loud. We had a lovely evening. What is also very practical is the Alt Sachsenhäuser parking garage on Walter-Kolb-Str. 16. From here it's a 7-minute walk to the restaurant. 1.00 euros\hour We'd love to come back.

If you love home cooking, Ebbelwoi and entertainment, this is the place for you. Absolutely not for vegans or vegetarians or humorless guests. You get to know different guests over the course of the evening through the entry rotation. Very cool. Always almost fully booked, sometimes even for weeks, and cash only!!! The staff is ultra-top and fast and you can enjoy it here for 7 hours. endure. Unique shop. And Mephistopheles??? You shouldn't miss it anyway. Keep it up! We'll be back!!!

Unfortunately, more and more people were seated at our table, so that we ended up sitting diagonally across from each other and it was hardly possible to have a conversation, despite having made a reservation in advance. We were there yesterday with a larger group, had made a reservation weeks ago and were informed right at the entrance that we would be able to get more people at the table, even though we were already sitting close. We were rushed to order our food and the plates were cleared away immediately after the last bite, only to make room for the next paying guests as quickly as possible. It was terribly loud and crowded. You can also overdo it with your greed for money. It was just terrible

Well, you have to like it rustic - both the food and the ambience. But very tasty, fair prices and extremely sociable. You inevitably get into conversation!

The food was really tasty and authentic German but I recommend to do a reservation in advance, because the restaurant is way too crowded and it's hard to get in without it.

Exactly what this uncultured swine of an American needed. I found the suggestion on the Frankfurt Reddit page. I searched for recommendations by locals and they didn't disappoint. The Apfelwein was a new experience, and I'm definitely going to look around my home city for it when I return. It's similar to cider but nowhere near as sweet as what is widely available in the US. I had the cured & grilled pork cutlet - no idea what the German name is, our party was handed English menus. Everyone's portion sizes were ridiculous for the price. I wouldn't be surprised if the cutlet was >300g. It was served over some of the most delicious mashed potatoes I've had anywhere, along with a pile of Apfelwein sauerkraut. Due to flying in on the same day, it was my only real meal and was still too much to finish. Don't miss this place. If you only want a main and a 0.3cl Apfelwein, expect to spend just under to slightly over 20€.

Excellent traditional dishes in a welcoming and festive venue. But be careful: they only accept cash payment. I didn't expect it, and I had to go and withdraw cash in the rain...

Had a possibility to visit the place… Well, let me put it lightly: “Please, don’t come here. There is no German food, nor food in general at this place. It’s all about serving pickled fried meat. The reason for it, I assume, is that meat gone bad, so it was pickled to preserve it for a lil longer, and earning money by serving untrustworthy products. I was fortunate to be in a company of a splendid young woman, which happened to be a vegan. When we asked for a vegan option, the answer was a moment of silence and, a few moments later, together with the other dishes, we got a merciless mocking of boiled potatoes without even a glimpse of hope in form of any seasoning or even olive oil. The place is „splendidly“ decorated with arts of taxidermy. Some of those have been decapitated. I guess in a desperate effort to put them out of their misery after them seen the types of things served at this establishment. An important addition to the experience is also an absence of any air in the room, after 15 minutes the feel of running 10 kilometers on a sunny day gets deeply imbedded in subconsciousness and a compulsive urge to take a shower appears. Conclusion: I am really sorry, should somebody’s opinion about German culture and cuisine be formed by such an experience. I’ve never considered going vegan that hard as on this accusation. The things done to food here are straight out outrageous. The prices are also very high and do not worth it in any of the wildest dreams of the head cook/owner. I highly recommend to avoid the place, thereby making yourself a favour by sparing yourself a waisted evening.
