The food was really tasty and authentic German but I recommend to do a reservation in advance, because the restaurant is way too crowded and it's hard to get in without it.

Well, you have to like it rustic - both the food and the ambience. But very tasty, fair prices and extremely sociable. You inevitably get into conversation!

Exactly what this uncultured swine of an American needed. I found the suggestion on the Frankfurt Reddit page. I searched for recommendations by locals and they didn't disappoint. The Apfelwein was a new experience, and I'm definitely going to look around my home city for it when I return. It's similar to cider but nowhere near as sweet as what is widely available in the US. I had the cured & grilled pork cutlet - no idea what the German name is, our party was handed English menus. Everyone's portion sizes were ridiculous for the price. I wouldn't be surprised if the cutlet was >300g. It was served over some of the most delicious mashed potatoes I've had anywhere, along with a pile of Apfelwein sauerkraut. Due to flying in on the same day, it was my only real meal and was still too much to finish. Don't miss this place. If you only want a main and a 0.3cl Apfelwein, expect to spend just under to slightly over 20€.

Excellent traditional dishes in a welcoming and festive venue. But be careful: they only accept cash payment. I didn't expect it, and I had to go and withdraw cash in the rain...

If you want to relax from everyday life and have fun, this is the right place. Don't take life so seriously.

Had a possibility to visit the place… Well, let me put it lightly: “Please, don’t come here. There is no German food, nor food in general at this place. It’s all about serving pickled fried meat. The reason for it, I assume, is that meat gone bad, so it was pickled to preserve it for a lil longer, and earning money by serving untrustworthy products. I was fortunate to be in a company of a splendid young woman, which happened to be a vegan. When we asked for a vegan option, the answer was a moment of silence and, a few moments later, together with the other dishes, we got a merciless mocking of boiled potatoes without even a glimpse of hope in form of any seasoning or even olive oil. The place is „splendidly“ decorated with arts of taxidermy. Some of those have been decapitated. I guess in a desperate effort to put them out of their misery after them seen the types of things served at this establishment. An important addition to the experience is also an absence of any air in the room, after 15 minutes the feel of running 10 kilometers on a sunny day gets deeply imbedded in subconsciousness and a compulsive urge to take a shower appears. Conclusion: I am really sorry, should somebody’s opinion about German culture and cuisine be formed by such an experience. I’ve never considered going vegan that hard as on this accusation. The things done to food here are straight out outrageous. The prices are also very high and do not worth it in any of the wildest dreams of the head cook/owner. I highly recommend to avoid the place, thereby making yourself a favour by sparing yourself a waisted evening.

Were here with a larger group, it was very crowded. Nevertheless, we received our order quickly. The Ebbelwoi was good, the portions were very large and it tasted good too. Not recommended for vegetarians, but otherwise worth the money.

Inconspicuous from the outside, it was very full but we still managed to get a place for our group. We just wanted to drink an Appelwoi. As tourists, we noticed that the restaurant is very popular. There was also a vocal performance that is always part of it. Next time we visit we will make a reservation and eat some, it looked very tasty and filling!

Wir waren zu viert am Samstagabend dort. Trotz vollem Lokal wurden wir zügig und super freundlich bedient, haben die Gerichte mit grüner Sauce bestellt und sehr genossen. Das Lokal ist sehr zu empfehlen, lustige Stimmung, freundliche Gäste und Mitarbeiter. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Very nice cider bar, with good home cooking. Very nice atmosphere and entertainment is provided all evening. However, you should always reserve in advance as it is always very busy.

It was way too crowded and you were squeezed at the table with other people. The food is just like any other cider bar and it is incredibly loud so you can't communicate at all. You also get an ear-splitting singing performance every hour from a heavily made-up man.

My 3rd and last visit to this location :-( I am shocked at how unprofessionally guests are treated here. Opinions about the food are taken personally and responded to in a mushy and cheeky manner. There is a lack of good children's care here. My 7-year-old son has better behavior. It's a waste of my money and time to eat this average meal. In addition, my telephone reservation was not noted! You can't stand sitting on the benches for long anyway and the background noise is bad anyway...at 2 per mille you can certainly ignore it. Bye!

Expensive and rude service. Card payment is not possible, the notice that this is not possible is hidden under the reservation book. 1 measly hand cheese with stale bread for 5.60. And when asked whether this can be correct, the answer is yes. You can only pay separately at the counter and then you will be asked who complained about the hand cheese. Then you are informed that there are onions and caraway seeds on the little lonely hand cheese, but the request to leave the discussion in front of everyone is not responded to. once and never again!

It's a very nice and fun place. It's a little expensive compared to some places, but it's worth it.

I would only recommend the visit to a limited extent - in the event of a tipsy evening and irrelevant conversations with the sole aim of satisfying your hunger and drinking even more, the restaurant may be suitable. However, if you expect traditional food from Hesse and nice conversations, then I wouldn't come here - what is called rustic is just annoying because you sit very close to complete strangers and either drown out other conversations or simply don't try at all to talk more. Nice people, average food and certainly fun in a larger group, but as described, if you're looking for something nice for a nice evening for two, three or four then just remember: a queue in front of an attraction doesn't always correlate with quality correct solution for the situation

Came here after almost falling for the tourist trap in the square. Walk was lengthy but incredibly worth it. The waitstaff were all super kind to us, giving their personal recommendations and frequently checking in. Granted we came when there was barely anyone but as soon as we left, people flooded the place. And they have a reason to be! Food is so delicious, crying after every bite because I wanted more. Will DEFINITELY come back again.

What can you say about that? Incredibly good. No matter whether it was about the service, the food or the entertainment on offer. It was incredibly good - an experience! The Vietnamese tour group would like to thank everyone involved.

Very cozy Ebbelwoi pub in the middle of Sachsenhausen. Food was absolutely fine in terms of taste and price. We made reservations in advance for 25 people and everything went smoothly. The service was very friendly and quick. International audience with a good atmosphere. Can be recommended at any time with a clear conscience!

We arrived early on Saturday evening without a reservation and a spot was made available to us - of course, only for the time until the following reservation. The restaurant was very full and therefore loud, which added to the atmosphere of a rustic inn. The staff were busy, but we still felt well looked after. (There were communication problems when ordering, but that wasn't a big deal for us) What should be emphasized is the extremely authentic and down-to-earth, friendly demeanor of the employees. We enjoyed it and will have positive memories of the restaurant, even if we only served it here for a short time.

Despite the good reviews the place is mediocre. Food is OK, but there are way better green sauces in other restaurants in the area. Also the Schnitzel was not something to be remembered. Really nothing special. Not sure why it is so famous. The beer and apple wine are good. Service is typical Frankfurt.

The store staff are kind and considerate, and the store is full of humor. I stayed there for about 3 hours, but I couldn't stop smiling. There were a lot of customers, and we were seated at large tables where we felt like we were supposed to be seated together.

Quaint pub, the food is ok and comes quickly. But be careful, they only want cash! This is no longer normal.

We had a wonderful evening at Ebbelwoi Unser. Reservations made by phone two hours in advance worked perfectly. The Ebbelwoi tastes really tasty, the 3-liter Bembel was no problem for four. The menu was appropriate, large portions, very tasty. From the Händkäs with music to the schnitzel with green sauce and sausages with cabbage, we were completely satisfied. The service was friendly, relaxed and quick, the singing boss was the show. We also ate/drank a few of the medlars... very tasty. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Frankfurt!! Edit July '24: we were back! Ate again very tasty (potato sausage), the stuff is still hissing!

I would like to share an extremely disappointing experience at this German restaurant. First of all, the main course, a schnitzel, was presented in a crude manner and severely lacking in taste. The quality of the food was far from what was expected for a restaurant specializing in German cuisine. In addition, the general atmosphere was heavily impacted by the behavior of the owner, who imposed his songs on the public. This would be acceptable if the performance was good, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. He has neither the talent of a singer nor an actor, which makes his interventions painful. Worse still, he demands that customers be quiet during his show, which is extremely unpleasant. Another major negative is the owner's derogatory attitude towards non-German speaking customers, openly mocking them in front of the German public. This creates an atmosphere of uneasiness and embarrassment for customers. Finally, it is not possible to pay by card, which further complicates the experience for customers. In summary, I strongly advise against this restaurant. The food, ambiance and service all leave a lot to be desired. There are undoubtedly much better options for discovering German cuisine and having a pleasant time in the city.

We spontaneously got a place on Saturday evening. It was limited in time, but the 1 1/2 hours were very nice. We all really enjoyed the food and the restaurant is unique and the staff are very friendly. Should we travel to Frankfurt again? We will always visit this restaurant again.

Everything was exactly as I wanted it. Good mood everywhere, good beer and excellent schnitzel with fried potatoes. Add to that a few bizarre but beautiful performances and the evening was perfect.

We were recommended their apple wine, which we really liked. We ordered schnitzel with potatoes and it was very good. Too many potions so unfortunately couldn't finish the meal. But all in all, recommended! 😀

The family and I were in Frankfurt for a quick visit, our first time in Germany. We wanted to have a casual dinner with authentic German fare. This restaurant is the perfect place. It is a tavern setting filled with locals. We were greeted warmly by the owner and place at a nice table. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the schnitzel and sausage platters. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Alex and his crew were awesome. Despite the exceptional situation of the European Football Championship with the Denmark-Germany evening game, they had the jam-packed store under charming control. We four men enjoyed food and drinks, even if we only paid homage to the praised Ebbelwoi with a sip. The evening was a work of art.

Dont mention that you do not accept cards after I get the check, pls do mention that when the customer is waiting to be seated. I had to leave my phone as collateral and walk to an ATM to bring the cash to clear the bill. This is the only reason for 1 star. Otherwise, the food was good.

The food was excellent and overall it was a very genuine experience. We tried traditional Germany dishes including schnitzel, pancake soup, green sauce and apple wine. However, I just felt a bit let down by the waiters. Both waiters who served us spoke good English but didn’t warn us that the schnitzel portion was absolutely massive so we ordered two (one for me and one for my wife) when one would have definitely sufficed. Each plate came with two huge pork schnitzels and potatoes.
