Traditional inn in the middle of the historic old town with prompt, friendly service and excellent food at fair prices. Particularly noteworthy is the pork knuckle – incredibly juicy and impressively large at the same time. The only drawback: with our group of 16, the space was a bit tight. Nevertheless, an overall successful visit!

Hearty Hessian inn on Höchster Schlossplatz. In the covered outdoor area you have a wonderful view of an ancient, beautiful oak tree and the Höchst Castle on the right. The Frankfurter Schnitzel with fresh green sauce and fried potatoes is highly recommended. Anyone who prefers the Frankfurt specialty platter with delicious hand cheese is also well served. Like everywhere else, the price level has risen noticeably, but if the quality is good, that's still okay - I'd be happy to do it again.

We went to dinner as a large family of 9 adults, 5 children and a dog. From start to finish everything was great. We had a big table in the back corner. The service served us very well and quickly, always had a funny saying and was very caring towards children and dogs. Drinks and food came quickly and everyone enjoyed it very much. We can highly recommend the bear.

It's a must to go to the bear when you're in Höchst. No matter what you choose, you won't be disappointed. The only thing that bothers me is that it is always very crowded and not relaxed, and the waitress is constantly walking around you. It's definitely necessary given the crowds, but it's still noticeable.

We were served by Emily and I was so shocked at how friendly and accommodating she was. Fast service, very friendly and very thoughtful. That's when you realize what the correct operation means. We have been here several times over the last few years and have never been disappointed. Today there was a special offer, suckling pig with dumplings and red cabbage. A celebration for carnivores like us. The attentive, friendly service and the ambience were great as always.

Immersed in a typical German environment, with wood on the walls and large tables, we spent a pleasant evening! The food was very good (traditional) we took meat, potato and vegetable dishes. We drank beer and cider served by the very kind and smiling Yade who was always available. At the end of dinner we purchased some salt they produce, embellished with spices and flowers to season meat-based dishes, really delicious! If I return to Frankfurt I will certainly return to Zum Baren to have dinner and spend the evening!

My Frankfurter Schnitzel was amazing! Perfectly prepared and simply delicious. You can tell that the kitchen really has something to offer. According to the notice board and Google Maps, opening hours on Sundays until 11 p.m., kitchen until 10 p.m. In fact, we were forced to make the last kitchen order at 8:15 p.m. and were cashed in at 9:15 p.m. An unpleasant early end to the evening.

After the reservation has been confirmed on a Sunday at 2 p.m. for 8 people, you get the information by phone three hours beforehand that you have a company party that would start at 3 p.m. and if that doesn't matter, you only have an hour to eat. We are very disappointed

My wife and I visit the restaurant every year on our wedding anniversary and order goose (leg and breast). Were very satisfied every year. Unfortunately that wasn't the case this year. Assume that the restaurant just had a bad day. Both the leg and the breast were dry. Either the meat was overcooked or it came from the lecture. Don't know if the chef was changed. Always gave 5 stars. This time it's just 4 stars, hoping it was just a blip.

We had dinner at Bären with the family and felt very comfortable. The service was very warm and accommodating. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy. The dishes were all very tasty, especially the sauces served with the meat dishes were really great. The dumplings were freshly prepared. Highly recommended is the wild boar, which can be ordered every Friday from October to March. Parking is easy in the battery parking spaces, a two-minute walk away.

I have eaten here many times. Especially in summer, always the broth and the delicious schnitzel. Goose to go today. And what can I say, a culinary delight. Really TOP! The staff is always super nice, the service is always excellent and the food (especially the goose) is cooked to perfection and the interaction of the side dishes rounds off the whole dish. It's not for nothing that the inn has such a good reputation. Absolute recommendation. Would like to give more than 5 stars.

Always nice there. The service that recognizes you, it's almost like “coming home”. Lately the kitchen wasn't quite up to scratch. The salt was missing, the seasoning, the fish/meat was too dry. Please be careful. You can do better and it will get better, I'm sure.

Went there for a goose meal. Large portion for four people. The meat was delicious and the skin was nice and crispy. Side dishes were plentiful. Overall, a delicious meal. And not to forget, the service was perfect.

Traditional inn and rustic location right on the cozy Schlossplatz. The menu is very varied, but some of the dishes are not particularly good. The Kaiserschmarren tasted like it had been made from a bag for 1 euro and has nothing to do with Alpine cuisine. It doesn't help if it's served in a pan.

In a nutshell.. The food tastes fantastic.. The selection is huge and the salad portions are really mega.

Best knuckle ever, veggie burger also recommended. The knuckle was impossible to pack and was given to us to take home with us, beautifully packaged, with extra sauce.

After ordering - the menu offers something for many tastes - the starter was quickly brought to the table. We didn't have to wait long for the main course either. But even a longer wait would have been more than worth it: the food tastes excellent! You can taste that sauces, side dishes, dips, etc. are all made fresh, nothing tastes remotely like convenience.
