Gasthaus Zum Bären in Frankfurt am Main

As a Frankfurt resident, I visited for the first time. A typical apple wine bar with good Frankfurt dishes. Service was friendly and prompt. The green sauce was very good 👍 The hand cheese was excellent 👍 The ribs were very good. One star deducted because the deep-fried schnitzel was not good at all, and today it was extra thin 👎 But we will definitely come back.

We enjoyed dinner here during a bike ride. The service was generally good, although we had to repeat things both when ordering and later on with the bill. But I don't mind such things; it's fine. What bothered me, however, was that my pasta dish had so much water and oil at the bottom of the plate that I could have easily eaten it as soup. Sorry, that's incredibly bad. This made it impossible to finish the entire dish, which isn't the point. Bottom line: Take a few seconds to refill your bowl!

I've enjoyed the goat cheese salad for years. However, it's not the same as it was in years past. It doesn't taste good anymore; it tastes more like a simple summer salad. I certainly won't be eating it at the Bären anymore.

We were pleasantly surprised. Until now, we only knew Frankfurt-Höchst from the enormous chemical park, visible from the highway. But it wasn't until our bike tour that we realized that Höchst is a pretty old town. The Gasthaus zum Bären is nestled in the beautiful old town setting with a view of Höchst Castle Tower. It was so busy that we had to wait a few minutes for a free table. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was friendly and professional.

Nice German restaurant with friendly service. The food came quickly, drinks took a while, but everyone was full. There's an allergen menu. I'm gluten intolerant and had the potato skins and green sauce. Both were delicious! I'd be happy to come back.

For years, we've enjoyed going to this inn on the beautiful Schlossplatz in Höchst. Unfortunately, the service and quality of the food have declined. Dishes are undercooked, fried potatoes only half-cooked. The waitresses addressed all guests as "dear" (you guys). When the waitress noticed that the dishes were undercooked, there was no apology. It was simply accepted. A few years ago, the inn was really good and always recommended. The location is also beautifully quaint. We just want to be served properly, be spoken to, and receive the food as ordered. Unfortunately, after several attempts, the quality has noticeably declined and cannot be explained as a slip-up due to our current mood or stress. So we'll have to find somewhere else. It's a real shame.

I've been to Höchster Schlossplatz for dinner for the first time in a while. It's still a great place with a varied selection of home-style dishes. A visit is always recommended.

It's a shame – the service and atmosphere alone are impressive. With the rising prices, the quality of the food is only mediocre – seemingly just convenience fare, lacking in attention, and the taste is rather subpar. Even the beer in the mug came without foam. Unfortunately, the value for money is no longer right at all. If it weren't for the beautiful location, we certainly wouldn't go back to the restaurant.

The sausage salad I had was delicious. The service was top-notch, and the outdoor area, in particular, is really nice.

Love going here. It’s in a super cute area of Höchst (old town) and has very typical German food. Inside is a cute old German tavern and outside is also nice. Food is decently priced.

The taste was good, but the portions are now very small and the prices have risen. The schnitzels are thin, the side dishes are very small, and the amount of sauce was also more than manageable. The side salad costs extra. Unfortunately, we didn't get full. The service was a bit slow at times and unpleasantly pushy when it came to selling side dishes, desserts, and coffee.

The location was very nice, but the food clearly had room for improvement for us. The ham hock was very tough and could have used more time, while the burger patty was very overcooked and the bun was sunken. The service dealt with the criticism positively, so overall, we gave it 4*.

Nice place to stay. In the summer with a beer garden and beer in a cold mug, simply wonderful. The food is both good, traditional and seasonal, always something. The highlight has always been one of the best crispy knuckles in Frankfurt. We enjoy going there and will continue to do so in the future. Stay as you are. Thanks

Be sure not to order the salad with asparagus for €16.90! The salad came much later than everyone else's food. There was a single asparagus cut into thin slices, drowned in the dressing, no parmesan shavings, but thick slices that you also had to look for. Because I wanted to eat with the others, I only expressed my displeasure when I was paying. The only thing that came was the statement: "You should have said something sooner. Three guests have already complained in front of you." Unbelievable. No apology - let alone a discount. There wasn't even an espresso on the house. I definitely won't order salad here again :=(

Hearty Hessian inn on Höchster Schlossplatz. In the covered outdoor area you have a wonderful view of an ancient, beautiful oak tree and the Höchst Castle on the right. The Frankfurter Schnitzel with fresh green sauce and fried potatoes is highly recommended. Anyone who prefers the Frankfurt specialty platter with delicious hand cheese is also well served. Like everywhere else, the price level has risen noticeably, but if the quality is good, that's still okay - I'd be happy to do it again.

Traditional inn in the middle of the historic old town with prompt, friendly service and excellent food at fair prices. Particularly noteworthy is the pork knuckle – incredibly juicy and impressively large at the same time. The only drawback: with our group of 16, the space was a bit tight. Nevertheless, an overall successful visit!

We went to dinner as a large family of 9 adults, 5 children and a dog. From start to finish everything was great. We had a big table in the back corner. The service served us very well and quickly, always had a funny saying and was very caring towards children and dogs. Drinks and food came quickly and everyone enjoyed it very much. We can highly recommend the bear.

Going to the Bären is a must when you're in Höchst. No matter what you choose, you won't be disappointed. The only thing that bothers me is that it's always very crowded and tense, and the waiters are constantly milling around you. It's probably necessary given the crowds, but it's still noticeable.

Immersed in a typical German environment, with wood on the walls and large tables, we spent a pleasant evening! The food was very good (traditional) we took meat, potato and vegetable dishes. We drank beer and cider served by the very kind and smiling Yade who was always available. At the end of dinner we purchased some salt they produce, embellished with spices and flowers to season meat-based dishes, really delicious! If I return to Frankfurt I will certainly return to Zum Baren to have dinner and spend the evening!
