Best restaurant in Frankfurt!!!

I had pre-booked a table and it worked great. The evening was very nice, the service was very good, the food tasted great.

Rustic inn with flair, 1a food and great staff. Ten of us went there for dinner on the occasion of a birthday. The woman celebrating her birthday was surprised with a birthday tarte flambée with apple rings and a serenade from the entire guest room. I thought that was really nice! However, you can only go there on a Friday evening with a reservation - it was packed full and therefore noisy (which the innkeepers can't do anything about). I'm just writing this so that you know in advance what you should be prepared for. I would go to the Bären again at any time - a clear thumbs up!

We looked forward to an exciting time in the historic Hochst community... As it was Octoberfest time.. However, there was not a soul in the neighborhood... Completely empty!! The restaurant was good.. food was good... Just not sure what happened to area.. We figured it out when another person sat to eat next to us.. the waiter greated with a noticeable As-salamu alaykum.. You get the picture

We were traveling with a tour group and graduated from the Bären. There were 40 of us in total and everything went like clockwork. Great service, very friendly and competent team. The food was very good. Lots of praise from our ranks for choosing the location. Of course our people were also enthusiastic about the Höchst old town.

We haven't been there for a long time. Now it has worked again. The knuckle was a blast. And the Frankfurter Brett was mega. Unfortunately there was no dark beer. Too bad. Nevertheless, if we are in the area again we will come back. 👍

I have been visiting the Bear occasionally for many years and have always been very satisfied. Today I was there with foreign guests. There was a criticism of a meal. However, the very dedicated restaurant manager Aldo resolved the matter promptly and satisfactorily. Thank you Aldo and thank you Elias for the good and friendly service.

Discovered by chance and loved it! Very courteous advice on regional cuisine and quick acceptance of our orders (including small changes to the menu). Homemade lemonade is absolutely top! The food was freshly prepared and tasted excellent. Thanks to the team :-)

Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. But the staff were very friendly and took our complaining calmly and let the plate go back without complaining.

Beautiful, idyllic place, inside and out. After the hustle and bustle in Frankfurt or Frankfurt Höchst, you'll find peace and quiet here in turbo gear. The staff is cozy and very nice in a natural way. The food was delicious. Typical Hessian cuisine, very well prepared. Somehow you feel at home and would like to lie down on a sofa somewhere. ☺️

Nice, high quality food, service overloaded but friendly

One of several traditional inns in Höchst. The quality of the food was okay, the prices, like almost everywhere, were high. Since we were sitting outside on benches without backrests, it was a bit uncomfortable. Maybe that's asking too much of us... 40€ with tip for 1x green sauce with eggs, 1x salad with baked sheep's cheese + 1 bottle of mineral water.

The ambience is great until I got my food. The bear cheeseburger was anything but tasty. The meat was cooked like a shoe sole. It wasn't juicy at all. I had hoped that it was only like that in one place, but that wasn't the case. I gave the food back to the waiter because I can't force myself to eat something like that despite being hungry. Then his manager came and talked to me about it too and asked me if I would like a replacement, which I thought was good, but with the hint that it would take at least (!) another 25 minutes. I declined because the four of us wanted to eat together. Then he offered me a hand cheese - wow, that will fill you up completely. He also offered me a bratwurst, which I also declined, as the evening had ended with food for me and it ultimately didn't fill me up. He then told the waiter that he should cancel the burger. A short time later the manager came back and asked us if he could invite us for 4 espressos, after all he wanted us to go home satisfied. Side note, the espresso was bad and is not recommended. When we paid we asked for the bill. The canceled burger was still listed at €16.90. The espressos had €0 on them. We asked the supervisor again. He then told us, “The burger is on it because I gave you four espressos.” I thought I wasn’t hearing correctly. I'm really not the one who constantly discusses things, but this is also about the principle. A canceled burger that is still charged and a “can I invite you for 4 espressos” ends up becoming “yes, how do we want to do it now, suggest something”. What should I suggest as a guest if you get a terrible burger and are invited to 4 bad espressos? We agreed that he would cancel the burger and we would pay for 2 out of 4 espressos. Our waiter Rashid wasn't the best either but what else can you say. It's a shame how the quality of this restaurant has deteriorated massively.

Food was very tasty and the service was also good. The pork knuckle was just too big for me in the end. The only thing I found a bit annoying was that it was very full and that people were constantly standing 3m away from the table, waiting for someone to leave, even though it was said that nothing was free.

It's a shame actually. At least my friend enjoyed the schnitzel. Apple cider was all the better for it. I would come back to drink, but not to eat.

We went to the Bären twice at the weekend. The food is really good and the menu offers something for everyone. The salads were also very good, which is rather unusual for “hearty” restaurants. The service deserves high praise! Fast, friendly and in a good mood. Our highlight was definitely our service My Lan!

If you have to, you can even get something to drink at 10:00 in the morning. And the outside area is already completely covered, not like the competition next door has the whole "muddle" ;-)))

Even late in the evening the kitchen was still open and we had a delicious meal. The service was really extremely friendly and the location with a view of the square with the castle was simply very romantic. The prices were very reasonable and the food matched the Hessian cuisine. In short, you don't find a place like this very often. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food on our last visit. We were there at lunchtime during the week and it was moderately busy. We ordered the bear cheeseburger and the schnitzel with bread dumplings and chanterelle cream sauce. The cheeseburger came with no sauce and an untoasted bun that looked like it was the cheapest burger bun you could buy at the grocery store. Otherwise a leaf of lettuce and a piece of tomato, and of course the patty with cheese, with fries and a glass of “ketchup”. The price of €16.90 for this is pretty proud. The schnitzel was obviously frozen, and there was also cold, not fresh-looking chanterelle cream sauce and bread dumplings that tasted a bit strange, at least not fresh and tasty as you would expect. Here too, the price of €20.50 is not appropriate. This time we were really disappointed, we are not used to anything like this from bears. We even held our wedding reception there a few years ago because we are used to good food here. In any case, we won't be coming back any time soon...

Food was actually good, no problem here. I was the only one sitting inside, the other guests were outside, but it was too cold for me. The staff was right next to me discussing reservations and other business matters quite loudly, which I didn't find very pleasant. Serkan (store manager) in particular spoke too loudly, which sounded significantly louder than the normal noise level in the region (well, I have to check word by word to see if I spelled anything wrong, you know what I mean). After I paid, the waiter didn't even say thank you, have a nice day. Nothing. Abnormal. I expected German conditions at least in one German restaurant. But not even there. The country is abolished.

Never again! I have never experienced such an unfriendly and rude service person. As we saw online on the menu, we wanted to order the Wiener-style schnitzel for seniors and asked the employee what the difference was between the seniors' and children's plates and whether there was a difference in size because the price differed by €3. (We only wanted a medium portion for smaller appetites). The employee then explained that mothers generally already have high costs and that they therefore pay €3 less than seniors. After I mentioned how unfair it was and how it can be to charge a different price for the same portion size on the grounds that seniors have more money than parents, the waiter replied very snippy and offered us the children's price. For me it wasn't about the price, but rather the principle that many seniors can hardly afford to eat out anymore. The discussion with the employee became a little more hasty and the waitress became louder. After I made it clear to him that I knew that he wasn't responsible for the prices, but that he could pass it on to his boss, he became increasingly cheeky and the discussion got louder. When the rude employee then said to my sister in a really unfriendly tone in front of me, “Is she always like that?”, it got through. My sister had told him that he was quite rude and disrespectful, then he got louder and didn't want to serve us anymore and wanted us to leave. After asking if he could speak to the boss, the employee claimed he didn't have one. When we asked if we could have another waitress and we asked him to leave our table, he leaned over the table, continued to argue and simply didn't leave. After asking, a very nice employee came to us and tried to understand and mediate the situation. Then the employee in question came shooting from inside and shouted at her, the exact words “you don't serve them, you don't take food” as his colleague continued to take our order, he continued to shout at her and said “if you don't do that "Whatever I tell you, I'll leave, then I'll quit now and leave." He stood very close to her and shouted at her, you had the feeling he was about to get physical and that in the guest area. My mother got up and said that he shouldn't attack his colleague like that and especially not yell at her like that, but he was so charged and couldn't control himself or his aggression. The really lovely employee apologized for his behavior and didn't let him upset her and continued taking our order. After 10 minutes the shift manager came to our table with the bill for our drinks in his hand. He would have heard that we had insulted his employee. Two guests then intervened and made it clear to him that the employee was the one who approached us and was disrespectful. So we started to explain the situation and the shift manager listened to everything and apologized. During the conversation, the employee came out to the terrace with drinks for the next table. When he overheard the conversation, he yelled across the guest area and threatened to quit the shift manager if we didn't leave immediately. He was totally aggressive and had no respect whatsoever, neither for his colleagues, his boss or us. One had the feeling that this wasn't the first incident with him either. If a man had been eating at the table, he wouldn't have spoken to us like that. When we paid and got up, he shooed us away with a wave of his hand. I'm honestly stunned how someone with such unprofessional behavior isn't immediately fired without notice and can continue working there. Lack of staff or not. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and will never visit this store again.

Dear inn, Yesterday I had boiled beef with green sausage. That was nothing! The meat wasn't cooked through, so I bought the green sauce and had simple boiled potatoes with it. Loveless!

Before our visit to Theater Höchst, we had dinner at Bären and loved it. Schnitzel and salad were excellent as was the Aperol. Nice atmosphere outside and when it was busy the service was very nice and relaxed and impressively fast. Top! 👍🏻🤗

We ate here with 6 people and it was really delicious. The portions are large enough, good quality, the staff is very attentive and friendly and the prices are reasonable. For a restaurant in Frankfurt we would have liked a selection of Äppler or at least one that was made ourselves and not sticks from Rapps, but we were mainly interested in the food. We'd love to come back.
