Food was very tasty and the service was also good. The pork knuckle was just too big for me in the end. The only thing I found a bit annoying was that it was very full and that people were constantly standing 3m away from the table, waiting for someone to leave, even though it was said that nothing was free.

Personally, I find the prices very high and not entirely justified for the food - the two hand cheese sausages with puree, sauerkraut and sauce €16.95. I didn't even find the food that tasty. It's a shame actually. At least my friend enjoyed the schnitzel. Apple cider was all the better for it. I would come back to drink, but not to eat.

We went to the Bären twice at the weekend. The food is really good and the menu offers something for everyone. The salads were also very good, which is rather unusual for “hearty” restaurants. The service deserves high praise! Fast, friendly and in a good mood. Our highlight was definitely our service My Lan!

If you have to, you can even get something to drink at 10:00 in the morning. And the outside area is already completely covered, not like the competition next door has the whole "muddle" ;-)))

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food on our last visit. We were there at lunchtime during the week and it was moderately busy. We ordered the bear cheeseburger and the schnitzel with bread dumplings and chanterelle cream sauce. The cheeseburger came with no sauce and an untoasted bun that looked like it was the cheapest burger bun you could buy at the grocery store. Otherwise a leaf of lettuce and a piece of tomato, and of course the patty with cheese, with fries and a glass of “ketchup”. The price of €16.90 for this is pretty proud. The schnitzel was obviously frozen, and there was also cold, not fresh-looking chanterelle cream sauce and bread dumplings that tasted a bit strange, at least not fresh and tasty as you would expect. Here too, the price of €20.50 is not appropriate. This time we were really disappointed, we are not used to anything like this from bears. We even held our wedding reception there a few years ago because we are used to good food here. In any case, we won't be coming back any time soon...

Food was actually good, no problem here. I was the only one sitting inside, the other guests were outside, but it was too cold for me. The staff was right next to me discussing reservations and other business matters quite loudly, which I didn't find very pleasant. Serkan (store manager) in particular spoke too loudly, which sounded significantly louder than the normal noise level in the region (well, I have to check word by word to see if I spelled anything wrong, you know what I mean). After I paid, the waiter didn't even say thank you, have a nice day. Nothing. Abnormal. I expected German conditions at least in one German restaurant. But not even there. The country is abolished.

Never again! I have never experienced such an unfriendly and rude service person. As we saw online on the menu, we wanted to order the Wiener-style schnitzel for seniors and asked the employee what the difference was between the seniors' and children's plates and whether there was a difference in size because the price differed by €3. (We only wanted a medium portion for smaller appetites). The employee then explained that mothers generally already have high costs and that they therefore pay €3 less than seniors. After I mentioned how unfair it was and how it can be to charge a different price for the same portion size on the grounds that seniors have more money than parents, the waiter replied very snippy and offered us the children's price. For me it wasn't about the price, but rather the principle that many seniors can hardly afford to eat out anymore. The discussion with the employee became a little more hasty and the waitress became louder. After I made it clear to him that I knew that he wasn't responsible for the prices, but that he could pass it on to his boss, he became increasingly cheeky and the discussion got louder. When the rude employee then said to my sister in a really unfriendly tone in front of me, “Is she always like that?”, it got through. My sister had told him that he was quite rude and disrespectful, then he got louder and didn't want to serve us anymore and wanted us to leave. After asking if he could speak to the boss, the employee claimed he didn't have one. When we asked if we could have another waitress and we asked him to leave our table, he leaned over the table, continued to argue and simply didn't leave. After asking, a very nice employee came to us and tried to understand and mediate the situation. Then the employee in question came shooting from inside and shouted at her, the exact words “you don't serve them, you don't take food” as his colleague continued to take our order, he continued to shout at her and said “if you don't do that "Whatever I tell you, I'll leave, then I'll quit now and leave." He stood very close to her and shouted at her, you had the feeling he was about to get physical and that in the guest area. My mother got up and said that he shouldn't attack his colleague like that and especially not yell at her like that, but he was so charged and couldn't control himself or his aggression. The really lovely employee apologized for his behavior and didn't let him upset her and continued taking our order. After 10 minutes the shift manager came to our table with the bill for our drinks in his hand. He would have heard that we had insulted his employee. Two guests then intervened and made it clear to him that the employee was the one who approached us and was disrespectful. So we started to explain the situation and the shift manager listened to everything and apologized. During the conversation, the employee came out to the terrace with drinks for the next table. When he overheard the conversation, he yelled across the guest area and threatened to quit the shift manager if we didn't leave immediately. He was totally aggressive and had no respect whatsoever, neither for his colleagues, his boss or us. One had the feeling that this wasn't the first incident with him either. If a man had been eating at the table, he wouldn't have spoken to us like that. When we paid and got up, he shooed us away with a wave of his hand. I'm honestly stunned how someone with such unprofessional behavior isn't immediately fired without notice and can continue working there. Lack of staff or not. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and will never visit this store again.

Dear inn, Yesterday I had boiled beef with green sausage. That was nothing! The meat wasn't cooked through, so I bought the green sauce and had simple boiled potatoes with it. Loveless!

Before our visit to Theater Höchst, we had dinner at Bären and loved it. Schnitzel and salad were excellent as was the Aperol. Nice atmosphere outside and when it was busy the service was very nice and relaxed and impressively fast. Top! 👍🏻🤗

We ate here with 6 people and it was really delicious. The portions are large enough, good quality, the staff is very attentive and friendly and the prices are reasonable. For a restaurant in Frankfurt we would have liked a selection of Äppler or at least one that was made ourselves and not sticks from Rapps, but we were mainly interested in the food. We'd love to come back.

As British tourists this was an amazing place the waitress was so lovely, and tried to accommodate to our taste, they have a full English menu with May other languages. The food and drink were lovely would recommend. I don’t know my waitress name but she studied in England, was great!!!!!!!!

I saw this restaurant on a television report a long time ago. It was so praised there that I had to get to know it. A few days ago the time had come and we enjoyed, among other things, the Frankfurt Green Sauce, an extremely successful house specialty. The other dishes were rather unspectacular. The staff is fabulous, everyone is extremely friendly and quick as a rabbit. When I made the reservation, I was told that a party of 90 people would be expected outside that evening. They came while we were eating. From that point on, the unavoidable noise level was so high that we decided to leave despite the wonderfully warm evening and the good table.

The food is ok, the seating is nice and most locals go here. You can easily organize birthdays or your regulars' table inside. The only drawback is that they close at ten.

We only drank homemade lemonade, which was extremely tasty and served very decoratively.

Very nice location, traditional, traditional restaurant with typical Hesse cuisine. Great food and excellent stuffing (apple cider), medlar and much more.. Very nice and funny service. And the price-performance ratio is still quite reasonable at fairly moderate prices. It is located directly on Höchster Schlossplatz in the old town, not far from the Main. We like to come here often...you always feel very welcome here.

Excellent attention and magnificent seasoning

We ended up in Höchst this Wednesday more by chance and just as coincidentally in the “Zum Bären” inn. Didn't expect much, but we were hungry. What can I say, we were thrilled. We haven't had such a nice, friendly and fast waiter (Serkan) for a long time. All the other service staff were also extremely nice and always had a kind word for the guests and always with a great smile. What more could you want - a great meal perhaps? And that's exactly what we had in the bear. My wife had the Hessian specialty plate and was very happy with the quality and taste. My knuckle was one of the best knuckles in recent years (including Munich). The Bavarian Helle in the Steinkrug was at the perfect temperature. So we were completely satisfied and will definitely come back soon.

It is a place from my childhood and youth. Back then, from the beginning of 1962 to 1972, my impressions were completely different because there weren't as many options as there are today. Everything was more sociable, perhaps not as hectic as it is today. Otherwise it is still quite idyllic on the banks of the Main and further above the banks of the Main at Höchster Schloss. The three restaurants serve good, rich food and delicious beer and wine, etc. So let yourself be pampered a little and go for a nice walk in the current warm season from May 2024. Typical Frankfurt food. Pleasant atmosphere. Good service. The surroundings are very pleasant, in the historic area of ​​Höchst.

We love the bear and have been guests there for years and also get food there from time to time. In our opinion, the green sauce in particular is one of the best in Frankfurt!!! BUT the bear has become absolutely disproportionately expensive! Prices have risen everywhere (right and important), but here they have served well and at the same time cut back on the portions. Even the side dishes are now hard to find - especially when the food is picked up. A tiny extra portion of green sauce for 3.30 euros (estimated at around 2 tbsp) is already exorbitant. Especially if you compare within Frankfurt, the price increases here are really enormous. We will continue to be guests there in the future and would be happy to come, but unfortunately the bear is no longer suitable for those who are very hungry.

Have known this place since working at Hoechst around 1997 and a return this year, some 17+ years since I was last there before moving back to UK was a welcome treat. As soon as I saw Baerenpfanne was still on the menu, that was as far as I needed to look at either the standard menu or the seasonal Spargel (asparagus) menu. The place hasn't changed one bit. Well looked after by our server, food and drink came regularly to our table. Whilst all around us there came plenty of noise from a room full of diners/drinkers enjoying themselves. I look forward to going back again next time I visit friends and former colleagues in Frankfurt.

We took a short stop here and the atmosphere in the old town of Höchst is brilliant. My girlfriend and I love to drink a little coffee or cappuccino in the old town right near the Main and enjoy the surroundings and the weather. The cappuccino isn't exactly cheap; the service was quick and friendly

We had dinner with 8 people. Everyone was very happy with their food, from the schnitzel with asparagus and potatoes to the burgers and the bear pan. The service was competent, funny and quick. Definitely recommended.

I don't know if it was because we were there at lunchtime or if that's how it is in general, but unfortunately the fried potatoes didn't taste good. That's actually the only negative thing I can report and what led to the star deduction. It seems to have been either the old potatoes or the finished products from Metro or both at the same time. I really expect it to be different in a German restaurant. Because it won't have been Koch's fault. The meat was great.

The worst service I ever had. Waiter seemed high, forgot our command for three times and still was rude to me and my girlfriend for asking, shouting at us on a busy Sunday. Maybe because we were not Germans? We paid only to avoid making a scandal.
