Ambrosia in Leipzig

I ate alone and can say right off the bat that I was absolutely satisfied for the average price! The service was very attentive and friendly; empty plates and glasses were cleared away very quickly, and we were asked if we wanted more drinks. I only had to wait a maximum of 3 minutes for my drink; it arrived quickly, and the food came in a time that suggested it was freshly prepared. Speaking of the food: the salad was crisp, the main course was not cold and at the perfect temperature, and it tasted fantastic and, yes, fresh. The restaurant's decor is a matter of taste, but it is clean and tidy, and used tables are cleared and cleaned as soon as you leave. All in all, I am very satisfied and can highly recommend this place!

We were there for dinner with a group. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the star rating. I ordered lamb fillet with a baked potato. The food arrived with a different side dish, without the waiter even asking us, which I find unacceptable. The waiter said that the small potatoes fried in oil tasted better. To make matters worse, the lamb fillet was overcooked (we ordered it medium). When we asked the waiter about it later, he simply replied that they were out of baked potatoes. He didn't address the issue of how we cooked it. Therefore, I won't be returning.

Yes, well, we weren't entirely satisfied, unfortunately. Invited for a birthday, we wanted to enjoy a nice meal and drinks at Ambrosia. The drinks were good, but the food, not so much. Personally, I can't really complain—my plate contained pork and beef tenderloin, rice, fries, Metaxa sauce, and fried onions. Overall, it was very tasty, although the pork tenderloin was quite dry. The portion of rice was a bit odd—you practically had to search for the tiny ball of rice. Basically, you just shoved it onto your fork with one bite and that was it. The salmon, rice, and broccoli dish was a different story. The main ingredients were very generous, but unfortunately, it was sorely lacking in sauce. A tiny dollop placed on the fish made the meal seem dry. At least it didn't lack flavor. If they added a bit more sauce to this dish, it could be a well-rounded and satisfying meal. It was tasty, but dry. Overall, everyone who didn't order sauce found the meat too dry. I would recommend choosing dishes where sauce is clearly indicated on the menu. You could certainly order it separately—I can't comment on that, though, since I had it. Personally, I wasn't too keen on the ambiance—but that's not the restaurant's fault. We were seated between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. And it wasn't just us, but many other people as well—which is, of course, good for the restaurant. However, the noise level suffered considerably as a result. In short, it was very loud and therefore tiring. I can only say positive things about the service staff—very attentive and friendly! Conclusion: I'm not sure if I would visit Ambrosia again—but I wouldn't rule it out.

I traveled from Munich to Leipzig to meet up with friends, and afterwards we went to the Ambrosia Restaurant. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was great, and the food was very good value for money. If I'm ever back in Leipzig, I'll definitely go again when I'm in the mood for Greek food!

Six of us went there as a family. My husband used to go to this restaurant quite often and wanted to experience the atmosphere and the food again. No sooner said than done. We were extremely satisfied with the fast and friendly service. The food was delicious. I thought it was a bit of a shame that the tables outside weren't lovingly set or even decorated. But again, that's just nitpicking. With two dishes for the family, a little sauce or side dish certainly wouldn't have hurt. Otherwise, we would definitely come back. The price/performance ratio was perfectly fine! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Easy reservations, made one hour in advance. Friendly staff. Ouzo is free at the start and upon payment. Unfortunately, the bifteki doesn't come with sauce. Greek music would have been ideal!

We ate there as a family. The selection of dishes was decent, but there was no daily special. The dishes themselves were also okay. The best part: there was nothing greasy, like you'd expect from other Greek restaurants. The service was great! The waitress was very friendly and funny. The manager, who was running around checking on the guests to see if everything was okay, was also very friendly and nice to us. 😀 We have a few minor criticisms: * The appetizer plate was quite "simple"; we expected a bit more variety. For example, the stuffed vine leaves or olives. We're willing to pay more for more variety. * The gyro wasn't as crispy as we're used to. * There were only tiny little balls of rice for the main course, and tzatziki had to be ordered separately. * The pasta from the spaghetti with meat sauce didn't taste that good; it was just warmed up in the microwave, not freshly cooked. All in all, the restaurant is definitely recommended. We would definitely come back.

Unfortunately only 2 stars. As a couple we spontaneously wanted to go back at 7:30 p.m. without children. Here is our experience report. We wanted to sit outside, thought we might have to wait a while and were prepared for that because there were no reservations. On the other hand, experience shows that the first run is completed between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The waiter, who was unfortunately not competent, as we found out, acted generously. “No problem, sit on the stools at the bar for a moment, as soon as something is free you will get a table outside…” This waiter, the boss there and everyone else walked past us for the next half hour, we sat there as ordered and were not picked up, especially since it was 8 p.m. At some point you're simply hungry and don't want to wait any longer. But no one at Ambrosia was interested. You don't want to cause stress to the people who are busy, so we waited obediently, which was a mistake. After half an hour I left, there were a lot of seats available. The waiter had forgotten us (even though he kept walking past us) I said to him, you forgot us, yes I did. But that's it...Boss heard everything, but he wasn't interested any further. More on that later… Then finally a table, unfortunately served by this waiter (he just can't do it) instead of quickly giving us cards and drinks, it took a long time. We didn't even receive a drinks menu, although my wife would have liked to take a look. Table not wiped by previous owner, full of ashtrays… We then waited another 10 minutes for the drinks. After ordering the food, another 45 minutes. It would be ok if our neighboring table (they came 15 minutes later and ordered accordingly later) didn't get their food 10 minutes before us. Then I asked the boss. Really nice and without any fuss, how can this all be? He said that ours had included a little bit of gyros, so it would have taken 20 minutes longer than the others. Hhhm ok, I'm surprised because I think that's the simplest of all but good. It's just strange that the table next to us didn't have our overwhelmed waiter, who took everything with a piece of paper and pen, but rather, in our opinion, a more competent woman who, and here it comes, took all the orders with a tray. It certainly can't be that it was because of the time difference in the orders, no, it must have been because of the portion of gyros, definitely... (if you find irony you can keep it). The best thing was that the boss asked us if he (that is, our waiter was an employee) had offered us something for free. No, he didn't, we told the boss that too. Hhhhm, what would happen in a normal restaurant in a situation like this? Stop thinking wrong, no, nothing at all. The boss then just said that we should come to him straight away next time. Aha. I thought to myself. Now I'm talking to you. Is there anything else coming? He just shrugs his shoulders a la yes this waiter just can't do it, as if you have to know and accept that... is that still possible? Despite all the friendliness on our part and if we had gotten something small on the house, we would have given a good tip, as always, but nothing happened. Apart from the usual little Uzo, which everyone gets... nothing! Conclusion, the boss is currently dividing it into 2 classes. Guests who come often and whom he knows are taken care of especially. In his opinion, the rest can be happy to be served at some point and in some way. Professional is something different. If you are not a regular guest and maybe only come twice a year, you should think about it carefully. Whether it will be a nice evening is almost a coincidence. This can easily backfire in Ambrosia...

The waiters were clearly ashamed of the kitchen. They showed no interest in whether the food tasted good. My leg of lamb smelled half-rotten. The meat was so dry that my grandfather started crying at the table.

Great. We got a table spontaneously for six people. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch.

Ambrosia is a Greek restaurant exactly as you'd imagine a Greek restaurant to be. Tastefully decorated, with Greek music, a large indoor area and a room that can be rented, and of course, an outdoor seating area. No matter where you sit, you won't notice the main street. The food is wonderful; my personal recommendation is anything, as long as it's with Metaxa sauce. Unfortunately, our favorite dish hasn't been on the menu for years, but they still make it for us upon request. The staff is very friendly, and the Greek owner is usually there to check on things and greet his regulars. This is probably also the reason why the ambiance, quality of the food, and quality of the service have never declined over the years and reliably remain at a high level. I am a regular guest, both with business partners and privately. I can only recommend the restaurant; I've never had a bad experience here. I've always been very full, in a good mood, and extremely satisfied when I leave Ambrosia. Usually slightly drunk, so you should definitely decide beforehand who is driving.

As always, thrilled! Today I was here with my colleagues. Everyone was more than satisfied. We were served several ouzos without asking and free of charge. The food was excellent, as I often had before, I had the “baked everything”, then the Greek yoghurt… simply delicious!!! I always enjoy coming back and I’m sure some of my colleagues do too 😅😋

We received a very friendly welcome, the boss and all the service staff were very attentive and friendly. The ambience is right. We would give it six out of five stars. Good Greek restaurant with a wide range of dishes and attentive staff, good food quality, for those who don't have too high of expectations. High noise levels and an interior that is not exactly typical for Greece accompany a visit there.

We celebrated New Year's Eve and it was very nice. Very nice staff, great fireworks and delicious food.

We were here a few days ago with my in-laws to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, we were greeted like old friends even though it was our first time here...thumbs up for that. The food was rich and very tasty, all the staff and the landlord personally are very attentive, friendly and service-oriented. The star deduction for the ambience is because there was unfortunately not a bit of decoration on the table, even though we pointed out when making the reservation that it was a silver wedding anniversary.

I had baked chicken in Metaxa sauce. The chicken was cooked on the grill and then placed in the sauce. That made it somehow bitter. My son's fries were unsalted. We like to eat at Greek restaurants, but not here anymore.

It has become catastrophic, the restaurant probably has a new owner, the food is overpriced and served cold... The service staff are listless and have not responded to the customer's wishes. I would avoid this atmosphere!!!

A wonderful place filled with Mediterranean warmth and hospitality. A Greek restaurant run by Greek people serving proper Greek food. Mousaka is excellent but remember to leave room for yoghurt with honey. Finish with a Tsipouro for the true Greek experience.

The portions could have been a little larger, but if you want good quality you can't expect mountains of food. Always happy. The dear Greeks are always friendly. But you feel really comfortable in this restaurant. Super friendly, respond to special requests without complaining. Although it is not explicitly requested. Always a smile, although sometimes quite stressful. We don't mind waiting a little longer at weddings. But here it almost doesn't happen at all. Not too fast but not too long either. We would like to come more often if our scale would allow it 😉 and also an extra thank you for always allowing us to bring our dog grandma with us. I ordered an Americano. The waiter asks "what is that?" 🤦 I say - coffee. He brings me "coffee", which tasted like it came from a puddle... (The instant coffee from the machine at the university clinic tastes better). I still paid for it, but didn't drink it, just left it. He didn't get a tip either, sorry!

Hello reader, unfortunately ordered food there. Far too little for €18. A tablespoon of rice and 10 fries, the meat and the sauce added to the bad taste experience. I'll avoid it here. Maybe it's better in a restaurant if you can look the waiter in the eye.

Delicious food, great ouzo ;-), attentive staff

The food was good. Good price-performance ratio. Tzaziki was a little more expensive, but very tasty, high quality and plentiful. We had to ask for a receipt and wait a little longer for it. At home we discovered that the bottle of wine had not been priced into the cash register. Another dish appeared on our receipt. If you added the price difference of the wine bottle to the dish, the difference was 0.60 euros to our disadvantage. We can't say whether the tax has been avoided here; some people don't ask for a receipt. You should always get a receipt and check it on site.

From the outside it looks a bit inconspicuous and often empty (at least when we're past), but that's deceptive. Absolutely delicious food, incredibly friendly and courteous service. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back. :-) You can sit inside and outside, we had a table outside. Despite being close to the S-Bahn and Prager Str., the backyard is very quiet and almost idyllic. I can only recommend Ambrosia. :-)

Super delicious Greek restaurant, locals come here all the time! Great starters, lots of garlic if you want it and in addition to the classics there are also a few authentic dishes that are not available elsewhere. Service was friendly throughout, highly recommended.

nice Italian restaurant that is attached to the Boulevard Hotel. There is also an ice cream parlor. Food was very tasty, there was linguini with shrimps. It was just a shame that there weren't more parasols outside, even though there were still stands for them. We would also have liked to sit outside, but not in the blazing sun.
