We ate there; we can't comment on the rooms. Cool, quaint restaurant, a must-see when in Rothenburg. Friendly service. The food was excellent. We'll definitely come back. Prices were reasonable.

I paid 276€ to not stay at this location because they cancelled my stay without my knowledge and no one took responsibility and they will not reimburse me. I could not contact anyone for booking errors prior to my trip and I couldn’t believe how flippant the husband was when I went there to clear things up and how incredibly unhelpful he was about giving me information about when someone who was more knowledgeable about booking would be available. It is criminal that they pass the blame to booking when they have no one to call about booking issues / don’t respond to messages on booking / don’t answer questions on the premises. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with booking and/ or a hotel. What a nightmare. Avoid. Este hotel no tiene vergüenza para nada para coger tu dinero y cancelar sin razón. Y no puedes contactarle por el número en su página web/ booking/ ni nada…. Tampoco es imposible para hablar con ellos presencial. Intenté resolver el problema hace meses… pero no le apetece devolver mi dinero aunque me cancela y tenía el hotel lleno las noches. Evita este lugar a toda costa, los propietarios no tienen vergüenza y fingen ignorancia para eludir responsabilidad.

Got sat down. Waited 25 minutes for someone to come to the table. Never came. Asked on my way out, they just said 'sorry', looked away and continued pouring a beer. Do not waste your time with this place.

The food is truly above average. The dressing on the side salad was particularly delicious. Despite the restaurant being full, the food arrived quite quickly. The only downsides were that we waited quite a while for the beer and it's quite difficult to make reservations by phone. We called at different times (daily) throughout the week and only got a reservation when we were there in person. Payment here is cash only.

Had a fantastic meal here, the place is very unique!!!! They are very busy with locals, you need reservations on weekends for sure. Top two meals on our 2 week trip to Bavaria!!!

The most delicious dinner of our week in Rothenburg

This review is for the Altfränkische Weinstube restaurant. Six of us went there for dinner for our mother's 91st birthday, and our opinion of the food and service was unanimous: absolutely outstanding! We haven't eaten this well in years. All the dishes on the small but select menu were exceptionally good. The salad and dressing were delicious, the pork loin was above-average quality, the steak was cooked to perfection, the schnitzel was perfectly seasoned and prepared, the spaetzle was just like mom's homemade, and so on. The food is clearly of a Michelin-star standard, the portion sizes are perfect, and the price? Unbeatable! Six people with drinks (including wine) for under €150. Here in the West, you would have paid twice as much. The service was very friendly and relaxed. Always take good care of the chef 😏 Small suggestion for improvement: There should be at least one sweet wine (not semi-dry) on the menu, and the exterior lighting should be brighter and more inviting, so that people don't think the shop is closed and it's also safer for older people to access. In any case: Highly recommended!!! 😋

We really liked the place and asked if there were seats outside. We were told no, only that there might be some in another area (though the answer wasn’t very clear). It turned out there were free tables inside, but the waitresses attended to a couple who arrived after us. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food, which was the biggest issue. That said, the food itself was excellent.

A small, quaint, but one of the most beautiful, comfortable hotels I've ever stayed in in my 60 years. The bed and breakfast was excellent. I would stay there again anytime.

While reading the Google reviews beforehand, I immediately noticed the reasonable prices in the menu pictures—but these were confirmed during our visit. The place is truly unique: authentic, quaint, and original—no trace of tourist rip-offs. In addition to the remarkable ambiance, there's a friendly, quirky chef who even serves himself. The dishes are regional (Schlotengel, Schmalzbrot), delicious, and beautifully prepared. A clear recommendation, and not just because of the incredible value! I explicitly link to my pictures.

A super authentic hotel with spacious rooms. The evening meal is plentiful and truly delicious. The staff is friendly. Parking is very easy at P5 for a good price, which is only a few minutes' walk from the hotel.

I can't really rate the food or the hotel. Very good wines in a beautiful setting. But the service is inattentive; it's not normal that guests have to go to the bar for every order. We didn't really feel welcome. 😥

We stayed in a vacation apartment right next to the restaurant for a long weekend. After having dinner there, we returned for dinner on our second evening. The food was excellent; all the dishes were very tasty. We had lovely outdoor seating. It was clear that the waiter wasn't a full-time professional, but he was still on the ball and very attentive. The prices were reasonable, too; highly recommended in summer.

A beautiful hotel in a picturesque place. We arrived later than check-in time (18:00), but the staff was very kind and we were checked-in in the room without any problems. Everything is saturated with history and creates an incredible atmosphere of a fairy tale.

We made a reservation for our daughter’s birthday. The place is beyond charming, and staff very nice. Seems like everything is made fresh daily, and although they didn’t have any desserts that day, they put something together for our daughter for her bday and didn’t charge us. Very sweet. Food was delicious. A very nice evening!

Beautiful restaurant with a quaint outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, it's not suitable for vegetarians. The only dishes are cheese spaetzle and baked Camembert. The spaetzle were a dry, greasy lump, definitely not homemade. The Camembert also seemed to be store-bought and not even homemade. It was served with dry bread.

We had the best meal at the restaurant. The whole family, who are familiar with Korean food, enjoyed the meal. The food was warm and the portions were generous. I also really liked the cute interior.

Fairytale house. I thought it was a museum, but it turned out to be a hotel❤️ I went inside - no one... The atmosphere is mesmerizing. It impressed me so much that I wanted to come back and... I booked a room in December, before Christmas.

A beautiful little hotel in the heart of Rothenburg, yet quietly located. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The rooms are newly renovated and very comfortable. The restaurant impresses with excellent cuisine and fine wines at fair prices. The rump steak was gigantic. Top quality. Breakfast was served directly to the table; there was absolutely everything and plenty of it. The ambiance in the breakfast room was just as cozy and lovingly decorated as the dining room. We loved the boxes for packing breakfast as a packed lunch. Highly recommended; we would love to come back.

The restaurant is very good - outside tables on a very quite street. The food is very delicious and the waiters are very polite. They speak rather good English. The service is a bit slow but all the dishes were worth the wait. I do recommend it as a very nice place for din er.

Super! - fairytale accommodation; - ideal location: absolutely quiet despite the proximity to the most visited places: - the RothenburgMuseum is in the next building; - less than 1 minute to the monastery garden and St. Jacob's Church; - about 2 minutes to the town hall, market square, German Christmas Museum, Käthe Wohlfahrt - Christmas Village. - great service: helpful, German and English speaking staff, without arrogance; - fabulous Franconian breakfast that leaves nothing to be desired. However, it is not recommended for families with small children, as the ground floor (in the living room) can be noisy in the evenings.

The hotel looks very romantic, there are a lot of old things to see when you enter. Unfortunately, the comfort of our room was very below average (bed, bathroom, fan heater in the bathroom, 2 broken bedside lamps). The breakfast service and check-out were handled by 2 unfriendly ladies. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed in the evening, so we can't judge it.

3 days in Rothenburg o.d.T. and ate there twice in the evening - that says it all, right? Go there and convince yourself of the hospitality and the delicious food. The “side salad” alone is awesome with melon, apple, strawberries and a great dressing. Whether cheese spaetzle or rump steak - everything is very, very tasty! And the atmosphere is just cozy!

We ate in the restaurant, a beautiful location very lovingly furnished. You sit on nice benches with cushions to relax, the only thing that doesn't rest is your eyes because there is something to discover and look at everywhere. An excellent idea. Thank you. The selection of drinks and food is just right. Everyone is sure to find something here, whether with meat or without. Also a nice selection of local wines and beers.

Wir kamen aufgrund einer Empfehlung in die Weinstube. Ein vermeintlich authentisches fränkisches Ambiente hat uns empfangen, allerdings auch der beißende Rauch des offenen Kamins. Nachdem wir dreimal darauf hingewiesen wurden bzw. uns hinterher gerufen wurde, dass wir den Tisch nur 90Minuten haben, bestellten wir u.a. den gebackenen Camembert (eines von zwei vegetarischen Gerichten) und die Schweinemedaillons in Pilzsoße mit Spätzle. Der Teller des Camembert ähnelte deutlich mehr einem Dessert als einem deftigem Hauptgang (Früchte, Sahne, karamellisierte Banane - es fehlte nur eine Kugel Eis) und der Käse selbst war ein 0815 fertig gekaufter Camembert. Die Spätzle wurden in der Pfanne mit viel Fett angebraten / erwärmt, sodass sie leider weit entfernt von klassischen leckeren Spätzle waren. Die Steinpilzchampignonrahmsauce war weniger Steinpilz und viel mehr Champignons, auch hier waren unsere Erwartungen nicht erfüllt. Die Servicekraft reagierte überfordert auf unsere Kritik. Wir waren nach 45 Minuten fertig und aus dem Restaurant - eine enttäuschende Empfehlung. Und alle Klamotten müssen direkt in die Wäsche. Kein zweites Mal!

From the outside it did not look like very much with it's low door. -on the inside it was dark packed with tables and dinner guest, we loved it, exactly what we was looking for :) I tried to order pork with mushrooms and spätzle; I'm not sure where I went wrong but a dish with potatoes arrived. -it was good :) No cards, cash only.

The wine bar has a very special charm. It is very nicely decorated, typically Bavarian. There is a large and good selection of local wines. The staff was very friendly and the food was also very good. Definitely worth a visit and since it is a bit hidden, you are no longer in the “tourist area”. The prices are great for what you get.

Rustic restaurant to spend a cozy evening.

The two of us with 3 Chihuahuas stayed in the Altfränkische Weinstube in Rothenburg ob der Tauber for 2 nights. Our room was comfortably furnished and very clean. This building radiates an incredible warmth and security that is rarely found. The furnishings and design are honest and with great attention to detail. The breakfast was first class. It is served at the table and you are spared the turmoil of a buffet. We can also rate the food in the restaurant as first class. We had a lovely time! If we come to Rothenburg again, this will be our first choice.

I can't say anything about the hotel - the following refers to the restaurant. A chance hit on the walk through Rothenburg. The menu outside the house suited our tastes and budget - so we knocked on the door in the afternoon and asked if it made sense to make a reservation. It DOES make sense, it turns out, and we were given the last available table for four people. Since it is a wine bar, the drinks menu is of course three times as extensive as the menu. Be that as it may, the dishes were exactly to our liking! The salad dressing is amazing, the steaks are cooked to perfection, the spaetzle and everything else is simply delicious. The baked apple tiramisu at the end was great and the service was consistently attentive and friendly despite the busyness of the meal - even though we were undecided as to whether we would order something else or not, always friendly and unobtrusive. The prices were absolutely moderate for the quality offered and we would come back at any time. Thank you for a great evening!

I didn't think it was so cool that you were practically sitting at a completely set table - I didn't manage to eat everything and unfortunately I wasn't allowed to eat some things because of my health, otherwise I would have packed something else - that made me feel guilty. Still no reason to give less stars because the food was really good and the service was pleasant. We'll be back
