Already here for the 2nd time, good home cooking

Super nice bar, unfortunately always very full after 6 p.m. And the acoustics leave a lot to be desired. But a very nice atmosphere and great beer. Larger beer garden in summer. The service is always quite quick. In winter there is a nice fire in the open fireplace. Very tidy and always clean toilets. You can really go there.

Unfortunately, the food has declined. We had fond memories of it from about 10 years ago. But this time we were disappointed. First, we stood at the check-in counter for a long time, even though we had a reservation and the table was free. A larger group was given priority. After half an hour at the table, we still didn't have any drinks. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel for almost €30, almost entirely breaded, the meat much too thin and cooked so well. It's a shame. I'd be interested to know how many grams of meat were actually in it. My husband's meal was okay, but nothing special. It's a shame.

I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding here, and I have truly fond memories of that day. The venue has something special—modern, cozy, yet very personal. It offers fantastic photo opportunities, as there are so many beautiful details and corners that are perfect for capturing. The atmosphere was also very warm and relaxed, which made working there a truly enjoyable experience. I'm looking forward to attending another wedding there!

Nice ambiance and friendly service. However, the waitresses are quite busy, and ordering/paying for drinks takes a long time. The burger was a tragedy for the price, and the beer is cheaper elsewhere. However, the selection is very good, and the Ratsherrn is delicious!

The beers are great, but the food (burgers) were unfortunately not good. €20 for a cheeseburger without a side, which is okay but nothing special, is simply too much. My friend also had a burger, but everything was only lukewarm, and the slice of cheddar cheese (€1.75 extra!) was still frozen in places. Otherwise, the seating is comfortable, and the staff is quite attentive. The music didn't match the ambiance.

The quality of the food was unfortunately only average, but the prices were unreasonably high. The staff were also very inflexible when it came to simple requests. Two examples: We arrived in the afternoon, just a few minutes before the change from the small to the large menu. Orders from that menu weren't possible yet; they wouldn't be available until 10 minutes later. Okay, then please write down what we'd like and submit the order in 10 minutes. Answer: No! We were invited to a wedding that day and were therefore only lightly dressed. It had become very cold outside and it was pouring with rain. Nevertheless, the entire window front and the entrance door were wide open. Could you please close that? ...the women are freezing in their light clothes. No! Could we please move further back into the restaurant where it's not so drafty? No, we're not doing any service back there yet! Just sad. Later, at the wedding reception in the hall across the hall, the staff were absolutely fantastic. Attentive, quick, and friendly. We truly had a magical evening at the party. However, we certainly won't be visiting the restaurant again.

Disappointing: The seasonal menu is only available in the waiting area; it's not available in the self-service area. Why? The other food also comes from the kitchen, which is weak. Okay, so, the burger. For just under €20, it was rather meager and quite cold. The cheese spaetzle was too creamy. So, the food wasn't...

Cool self-service restaurant. Ordering takes a bit of time because only one employee takes your order; he takes his time and does everything in a relaxed manner. The food was great.

I've been to Hamburg twice and eaten there each time. Super friendly and helpful staff, a really cool location – I really like the decor. The food is never disappointing, and I love the veggie selection. Plus, the Franzbrötchen tiramisu is simply divine. Highly recommended ❤️ I'd love to come back!

You have to try the Ratsherrn beer

Unfortunately, the beer tasting wasn't available to order outside in the beer garden. I can't understand why, and I'm not used to it. It's a shame!

The food is expensive for the portion size, but tasty. Beer prices are also very high.

We generally found the music far too loud. The beers are good and tasty, including those from the guest breweries. The fish and chips were delicious, but the smoked trout with beetroot was unbalanced (the fish was dry and not smoked enough).

We enjoyed a variety of delicious beers, Levin was very kind and served us well, and the atmosphere was great!

Great overall experince. Our group got a 3 course menu which was ordered before hand. However, for dessert, they served 6 portions for 8 people, telling us to simply "share" them. Additionally they required us to pay for a drop-out that we told them about when we arrived. Not the end of the world, but a strange choice that clearly brings it down from an otherwise 5/5 experience.

We were in the beer garden with a group of about 7 people – for me, the best option in summer, as normal conversation is almost impossible in a restaurant due to the loud music. However, the self-service in the beer garden was very uneven: The waiters constantly had to run to the counter to take or deliver orders from the beer garden and seemed very stressed. The process was generally chaotic: there was a mix-up with the drinks, and the beepers for the food stopped working at some point 😕. When the food finally arrived, some of it wasn't really hot anymore, and the fries were already cold. My fish and chips were also extremely greasy, which upset my stomach afterwards. Overall, the self-service concept seems immature, and I doubt it actually saves staff 🤔. The ambience in the beer garden is nice, but the organization and quality left a lot to be desired.

We spontaneously went to Alte Mädchen. Even though it was packed, we still managed to get a seat. The beer selection is truly extensive…there's something for everyone. The beers we tried were all truly delicious and served well chilled. The food was also absolutely convincing: fresh, flavorful, and perfectly matched to the beers. We were particularly impressed by the service: fast, attentive, and consistently friendly, despite the hustle and bustle. You can tell that these are professionals who enjoy what they do. A clear recommendation for anyone who appreciates good beer, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere!

We were here with company years ago, and everything was great. THIS TIME I would have given it 0 stars, but only because of the service. Yesterday there were three of us. Or rather, we wanted to go there again. We're here on a short trip. Since we didn't want to self-service, we stood at the reception desk near the "Please wait here" sign and waited. Meanwhile, the line behind us grew longer. Three more people joined the line. Then a waiter/employee came with a full tray and walked past us or the line without even looking at them or saying something like "I'll be with you in a minute"—but that's okay. He just left the full tray at the bar and came back. Then things got weird. Instead of serving us, who were first in line, he handed the menus to the people behind us and sent them to a table. This was done very inconsiderately; he simply shoved the card between me and my boyfriend without a word. Then he asked what we wanted. I said there were three of us and we'd like something to eat and drink and, if possible, sit outside. He then just pointed to the self-service area. I asked him if we were served at the table there, and he said no. So we asked if we could sit inside. He said, "Fine by me." And he practically ran off, three cards in his hand, which he then practically slammed onto a high table at the bar. He didn't even stop and just kept walking. We felt so unwanted and unwelcome that we left the restaurant without consuming anything. That was a real shame and a frightening experience. This experience has continued to haunt us, and my boyfriend and I both independently felt that it was because we were two men with a teenage daughter. It's a shame, especially at the start of Pride Week, although we would have guessed the waiter was more of a supporter of Pride. We then went to the Schanzenviertel. It was great there!

Last weekend, my girlfriend and I tried the Alte Mädchen Restaurant for the first time, and I was positively impressed: Our exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic waitress, Caro, gave us excellent advice on the tasting tray and explained the different beers to us. We drove home with a smile on our faces and thank Caro for the wonderful and memorable evening!

I live in Hamburg and love to bring visitors here to get a sampling of some of Hamburg 's best beer and food. My dad loves the Goulasch and gets it every time we come. Last time we had Levin as our server and he was a perfect fit for our group. Super accommodating and sweet!

We went there ourselves on a recommendation and were not disappointed. We even managed to get a table on Saturday evening without a reservation.

I can't recommend the spare ribs; the meat was still very firm, nothing fell off the bone, and I was chewing on small pieces of bone the whole time. They also forgot my beer, and 30 minutes later, when I asked, I was told that this beer wasn't available at the time. Guests are randomly moved around when tables are arranged for larger groups. Afterward, the confused waiters run around the restaurant with food because they can't find the actual guests.

Sitting outside and having a drink is wonderful here, but the food was unfortunately very disappointing. Aside from the fact that our order was taken incorrectly, the food wasn't tasty either. After we politely pointed this out, the only response was a rude "Yes, I forgot!" The biggest disappointment was the knuckle of pork... we won't be back.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't good. Instead of potato salad with cucumbers, we had mashed potatoes. The truffle dip we ordered wasn't delivered, and after asking, we were asked to order again and pay again. We had to pick up the food and drinks ourselves and take them away, and the prices were really steep. A Wiener Schnitzel cost €30, mind you, and came with mashed potatoes instead of potato salad.

Barzahlung oder direkt per Kreditkarte zahlen erst auf Nachfrage bei den Getränken möglich, bei der Essensbestellung ist dies nicht möglich. Also gehen wir woanders essen und Bier trinken. In Hamburg gibt es zum Glück genug lokale wo unser Geld willkommen ist.

We were in a group of 10-11 people booked on Thursday. The food was okay. I had cheese spaetzle with a small leaf salad for €17.50. It's not exactly a bargain, but it's okay. The salad dressing, however, was delicious and special. It was also very loud. There was a bitter aftertaste: if you're a no-show, you have to pay €10 for each person, and after 1:45 hours, we were kicked out without even having a chance to finish my beer. The service was a bit stressed, and I didn't even get a thank you for a tip. It's a shame, I had to deduct another star for that. We're all disappointed and won't be coming back.

We had reserved a table, but it was neither prepared nor available when we arrived. So we were sent outside to wait without even asking if we wanted to order a drink. Although we had requested a quiet spot, we were seated right by the entrance door – loud, uncomfortable, and in the middle of the aisle. The music was unpleasantly loud. The first round of drinks took about 30 minutes for everyone to arrive at the table so we could toast. The staff were consistently unfriendly and seemed to have no joy in their work. We had to wait over an hour for the food. After the main course, we wanted to order dessert. When our plates were cleared, we were initially told that someone would be there shortly to take our orders. After 20 minutes and repeated inquiries, we were told that the kitchen was now closed. No apology, no suggested solution. When we specifically asked for a solution, we were only told that we could order a shot or coffee. Occasionally, drinks that weren't yet empty were cleared away without being asked. The portions were also rather small for the price. The food tasted okay, but nothing special. The steak we ordered "English" was served medium, and we made the very dry schnitzel a bit juicier by ordering a lemon. Overall, I had the feeling that the focus here wasn't on quality or good service, but rather on serving as many guests as quickly as possible. A disappointing experience.

Hallo Leute, bin zwar schon 65 Jahre alt, und des Handy’s mächtig. Aber was hier mit der Bezahlung über QR-Code abläuft, ist einfach nur grausig. Auch keine Alternative über Barzahlung möglich. Habe 200,-€ eingesteckt, die ich zum größten Teil wohl hier gelassen hätte, aber dank der Einführung Bezahlung über QR, habe ich fast alles mit nach Hause genommen und bin auch früher gegangen. Digitales bezahlen kann auch anders gehen….,,

¡Qué bien, cenamos aquí dos veces! Es difícil encontrar una cervecería / restaurante acogedor, pero auténtico en Hamburgo - pero este lugar se ajusta a la ley! Comió aquí primero el 12. 7 . Sólo mi marido y yo. Lloviendo y haciendo frío, nos sentamos bajo un paraguas y comimos pescado / patatas fritas y un plato de salchichas. Segunda vez, (2 días después) invitamos a otra pareja y comimos y bebimos demasiado, pero tuvimos una explosión! Lo disfruté tanto, que el marido quería una camiseta. Muy recomendable!

We were at the Altes Mädchen early in the evening and were practically alone in the restaurant. The service at our table was very friendly. When we asked for a warm beer, the only reply from behind the bar was, "In the north, they drink beer cold." After asking again for a pot of warm water, the waitress, who was trying hard, was scolded by a colleague, "You know what we have." The ambiance is very nice...but they probably eat the roulade cold in the north, too. We'll try a different restaurant next time we're in Hamburg.

Wir wollten mit Freunden mittags zum leckeren Bier eine Kleinigkeit essen. Die Mittagskarte ist sehr übersichtlich und hat leider nicht die Auswahl vom Abend. Wir hätten gerne das leckere Brot probiert, aber dies gibt es mittags nicht. Der Backfisch mit Pommes war o.k., aber das Nudelgericht war leider sehr enttäuschend. Es gab keine Bandnudeln wie in der Karte angegeben und die Sauce war geschmacklos und schmeckte hauptsächlich nach Mehl. Auch der bestellte Ratsherrnknödel war mit der gleichen geschmacklosen Sauce bedeckt. Vom Essen her insgesamt eher enttäuschend, die Preise dafür nicht gerechtfertigt.

For lunch, I had a burger and sweet potato fries. The fries were lukewarm at best, and the burger had no flavor at all. The bread was dry and tasteless, and the meat tasted like cheap frozen food. The service was friendly and attentive.

Unfortunately, the visit didn't meet my expectations. The steak was unfortunately cooked well, even though I ordered it medium – and the taste was also rather disappointing. The service, while attentive, seemed a bit distant and clumsy. Overall, it wasn't a well-rounded experience. It's a shame, since the ambiance actually had potential.

If you want to eat well and try a variety of beers, this is the place for you! The beef tartare is super delicious. So is the beef sandwich! The fried eggs in my Strammer Max with beef ham were cold and had a hard yolk. But after I criticized them, two fresh ones were quickly brought out. David's service was very attentive, and his good mood was infectious! The rustic ambiance pairs perfectly with a good beer!

The brewery is somewhat hidden away. The service and friendliness were good. We were very disappointed with the food and the beer. Everything is very expensive. The fries tasted of old grease, the burger patties were very tough, and the cheese spaetzle didn't impress us either. We expected more for the price. The schnitzel costs over €30. We definitely won't be back.

Food prices aren't listed anywhere. You have to ask at the counter when ordering if you're eating on the terrace. So if it's too late to turn back... I'm not a fan of that. Prices are high :)

Very slow service, we sat 15minutes waiting just for the menus. I had to go ask for them after a while. The service people seemed to be very disoriented and very confused, it took forever for them to bring the drinks. For one beer we waited 20 minutes. My mum askes for allergens and the server promised to ask - and forgot. We were there early so not that many people were there yet. Food is very expensive.

We actually wanted to eat here with a large group, but the prices on the printed menu were significantly higher than the already borderline-exorbitant prices on the website. We left after the beer, which was also quite expensive.

The food was very standard and, especially for the price, really poor. €25 for a standard schnitzel is simply too much. The homemade lemonade wasn't anything special either, and even then, at just under €6, it was just really good. Our group sat inside, and there were speakers directly above our table, so we could only have a conversation at a raised voice. Unfortunately, the music wasn't appropriate either.
