From starters to main courses and desserts, the food was impeccable. The side dishes were delicious, and the drinks were all heavenly. We'd happily return on our next visit to Hamburg.☺️

The food is relatively expensive—a burger with potatoes costs €23, and you're limited to two hours per table. However, the food was very good quality, and the service was exceptionally friendly.

This brewery inn is simply fantastic. Not just visually appealing, but the service, food, and ambiance are all just right. Generous portions and great taste. The beer from the in-house brewery is a delight.

Great brewery in a central location and easily accessible by public transport. The interior design is tasteful and modern. The staff is friendly, attentive and service-oriented. The drink order was quickly taken and a few minutes later the drinks were on our table. There is a good selection of beers that are not too commonplace. They are highly recommended for their taste. The menu includes a good selection of different dishes. Vegetarians also get their money's worth in a positive sense. There were 11 of us there and our food was served warm at the same time. All dishes were delicious and the portion size was just right. For dessert we recommend the Kaiserschmarrn. So all in all we were very satisfied and recommend the Old Girl. A fairly standard, large bar serving the Ratsherrn beer. I wasn't really impressed by any of the offerings here. The beer was alright, the bar was alright.

Friendly. Do their best, but always slightly understaffed, even at the OMR. Food is ok. The brathandel is not one, but a chicken schnitzel. Carb surprise... Oh well.

The food is good, but outrageously expensive. I think cheese spaetzle for almost €19 is a joke. Out of 10 people who had reserved, there were only 5 of us and we had to pay a €10 no-show fine per person. Are you doing too well? I would understand if they had a failure. But the shop was half empty and the manager didn't ask if guests were still allowed to come to our table. That was definitely my last visit!

We were on an excursion to Hamburg and had dinner here in a large group. The food was put on the table for us to take away and so we were able to taste our way through the dishes. It was very tasty, but the portions were way too big. The location is cool and cozy, the background music was a bit too loud for our taste. Finn accompanied us throughout the evening with a lot of humor and attentiveness - thank you very much!

We had a very nice evening with some colleagues. The food was tasty and quite plentiful. I was able to let everyone try the sweet potato fries. The service was particularly good, I think this is one of the few restaurants where the waitress came by regularly and asked if we would like to order anything else (and we did). Normally in Hamburg it is difficult to get the attention of the staff. Therefore a recommendation, especially if you are traveling with visitors and guests from different countries. It's relatively loud, but I think that's appropriate in a brewery. Nice outdoor seating in a spacious courtyard, but I don't know if you can reserve outside.

Beautiful brewery with an incredible selection of beer and delicious food. We received first-class advice from Finn and would be happy to come back. People here know a thing or two about beer.

Super nice atmosphere, very tasty food. The selection of drinks, especially the beer selection, is also great. We were mainly served by Finn. He was very attentive and always had a smile on his face. I would be happy to come back next time I visit Hamburg.

Two stars because the brunch was really delicious. BUT: I wanted to reserve for 2 people, online only from 4. Then I called and looked through the menu and was told to make a reservation online. They don't accept reservations over the phone, but there is usually always a place for two people. So we were there on time today to find out that you can't have brunch without a reservation. It doesn't work at all, no note on the announcement, not online. When I then asked that perhaps I could change it in order to save others this discussion, the answer was: I'm also the lowest in the chain here." OK, of course the gentleman can't do anything about it, but he's the only one I can tell that to at the moment. I told him and he just said “well, once you know that, that's good” - that's not possible. After he asked wherever, we were graciously allowed to sit at a high table, which was of course extremely uncomfortable. Why a table next to us was occupied by three people and behind us by two, which is not possible because there are fewer than four, and why when we left at least a third of the tables were still free where we would have sat better (at least until other guests who had reserved them were there) remained a mystery. Sorry service is 0, there are plenty of alternatives Addendum after answer: If I see online that you can only reserve for 4 people or more, I don't do it and I don't get a confirmation email - the note doesn't help at all. And I just looked at the homepage - it literally says: "We make reservations for 4 or more people in the restaurant. We can usually accommodate 1-3 people quickly, so we're happy to drop by spontaneously." Hmmm, but whatever

We were there after the marathon Old girl. The beer was OK. Clearly a bit more expensive for the location. The burger, however, was a disgrace for €20. Totally dry paddy, carelessly slapped on lettuce and the roll was no longer fresh either. Toilets were also dirty. It's sad that we could really do more with it and, to be honest, that's what we expected.

The Old Girl is definitely worth a visit if you are in Hamburg. There is good beer, including tasting trays with small glasses on a wooden board. The atmosphere is very pleasant. I always enjoy coming here, and the dog is always welcome too.

The beer is excellent. The food was ok, but a bit expensive.

If you come to Hamburg, you should definitely stop by here. It has a very nice ambience. The staff is very friendly and caring. If you are a beer lover like me and want to taste different beers, this is the only place you can visit in Hamburg.

We came on a recommendation. Great atmosphere and lots of delicious beers. The freshly baked bread is also great. The food was rather average. The prices are high. The potato was super tasty and the schnitzel was unfortunately totally stringy and dry. I didn't like it. The steak was really small. My husband wasn't full. It was okay but not worth a second visit for us.

First of all: everything here is a bit more expensive and more stylish than comfortable. Unfortunately there were no more fries - everything was sold out 🤷‍♀️ The music was too loud for us - we thought it was more of a brewery. The staff was typically Hamburg very nice.

The service is great and the staff is super nice and accommodating! The beer is cold and delicious... Now about the food: We just ordered 2 citizens. I don't know if it was because it was Sunday but the bread was old and hard. Despite the extra cheese, there was hardly any sign of it. The meat didn't taste good either. One had the feeling that the burger was old. You have to pay extra for the fries, even though the citizen costs almost €19, which is a lot of money for this citizen, who is small in comparison. You had to pay extra for the cheese. We were very dissatisfied.

Nice location. Unfortunately very inflexible. If you can't eat certain things, they won't be addressed. "If we make an extra sausage for every guest here, we'll soon be broke" was the answer. That doesn't work at all. Otherwise everything costs extra. Even mayo. If you switch from bread to fries you have to pay for the fries but the bread is not deducted. Prices overall very high.

New map since 03/2025, much better than the map before. Great dishes, large selection. The service is great, the employees are attentive. What is “difficult” is that you can only reserve for 4 people or more... so you end up with two or three people sitting at a high table (without a backrest), which is tiring to sit after several hours. Neighboring tables are tightly placed (with the high tables), so that your neighbor's elbow often ends up in your back. In summer the courtyard is a good alternative, although with little to no sun in the afternoon

Great to sit outside in the sun. "Self-service" is a little unusual, but apparently not a problem here. Order inside, pick up outside. Not for everyone but OK... Eating outside is difficult in these temperatures. The food temperature understandably suffers. We first ordered a small snack with the beer and then a main course. The taste was good, my beef cheeks were tender as butter. The puree was good, the carrot slices served with it seemed rather sober without any additional spice added; a little "shine" would have done them some good. Delicious beers at a good drinking temperature. Overall impression was very pleasant. Since we sat outside, the service and ambience were not good.

Came across the brewery purely by chance. The ambience, the freshly tapped beer and the warm bread from our own bakery are simply a highlight. A large part of why we felt comfortable was due to Finn. Very attentive and friendly. We are now taking a loaf of his favorite bread with us to his and our birthplace. Gude.

There were seven of us and after waiting 10 minutes we were allowed to sit down at the regulars' table. After we received the menu, the drinks were picked up and delivered quickly. Unfortunately, it took a while before we could order the food and we also had to wait a relatively long time for the dishes. There is a large selection of drinks, and the dishes also have something for everyone - plus the beer recommendation. The food tasted very good and so did the beer. All in all a lovely evening and we would go there again.

Very bad experience. After an eternity of waiting you were finally served, and after another eternity the food finally arrived. Taste ok, price outrageous. You pay €19 for a mini burger, which is no more than average. Not recommended, enter and leave the store hungry but leave a lot of money behind.

Honestly ? If I could, I would give negative stars. A) Reception - "OK, you can sit here with 6 people, but the table is only available for 2 hours at most, the table is needed at 8 p.m." --> absolutely not hospitable - of course a table can be reserved, but you can also say: We have to check from 8 p.m. because we are fully booked from 8 p.m. today B) The starters were good, but at €9.90 for a large portion of Ackergold (special fries) - like everything else, it was really outrageously expensive. C) drinks would be forgotten several times. D) Two guests ordered steak medium rare - received it completely well done - after complaints, the steak in question 1* was no longer available and the replacement was then completely raw and a replacement had to be brought again. E) The schnitzel came out of the deep fryer - the meat curled upwards on the outside. An absurdity for a schnitzel for over €25 without any side dishes. F) My 250 grams of steak was at most (including 60 grams of hollandaise sauce) maybe 230 grams, my colleague easily had 10% less. G) The salad was washed - at least, but the remaining water was the only dressing. H) The big hit was that, despite all the odds, we had to clear the table at 8 p.m. as agreed. I felt sorry for the organizer of the company dinner. Even the free drink that was given couldn't be taken away - a 50% discount wouldn't have been enough to cover the mistake. If I had had to pay for the evening myself, I would have strongly advised any other guest who was waiting for a table to become available not to eat here. Old girl - never again!!!- underground at outrageous prices.

It's a shame that there was or is a 2 hour time window. Would have liked to stay. Otherwise everything was okay. Friendly service staff and the service itself was also good.

I've been here many times privately and have become a big fan! Nowadays I also like to take my business partners over for a cold drink and something delicious from your kitchen. My business lunch this week exceeded everything: beer and food of the usual great quality... but what really stood out was the service. I have never received such good advice when asked: which beer do you recommend? After we received a small explanation of how it was made in addition to the recommendation, we were brought a small “tasting sip”. Great! You automatically like to order one more than planned😄 That's how gastro works, I thought... Huge thanks to Finn for the unbeatable service in the evening, someone here knows his craft. Gladly again!

We went to dinner with a group of 40 people. We had pre-booked, of course. Everything worked out perfectly. The food and service were really good.

Worst Burger I ever had in my life. The burger patty was a prepade frozen one. Burger was very small. Price of 18,90€ totally unacceptable for a "Mc Donalds" like Burger. Don't recommend it

A good beer after work or a nice meal with colleagues. This is a great place to meet up. Delicious food, good beers. It's just a bit loud sometimes (when it's full).

Very tasty food (fish and chips, veggie dumplings). Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. The only downside is that it gets a bit noisy when it gets busy. Very nice location close to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn, and a great, authentic outdoor area. We spontaneously got a nice table without a reservation. We received a friendly welcome and the food was excellent, and the price/performance ratio was right. Non-alcoholic tip: the malt beer! Super refreshing and tastes different from other malt beers! Super delicious!

I'm only reviewing the brunch buffet, which truly leaves nothing to be desired. Everything is delicious, the selections are perfect, and you have plenty of time to enjoy it. Furthermore, the space is beautifully designed, and the seating is comfortable.

Recently, I visited the Altes Mädchen Ratsherrn Braugasthaus with five friends while attending a trade fair in Hamburg. The atmosphere of the place is appealing and cozy, which we enjoyed. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. A friend and I ordered a Caesar salad with baked chicken. The dish wasn't particularly attractively presented, and the chicken was breaded, which wasn't stated on the menu. For people with gluten intolerance, it would be important to know that the chicken is breaded. The other dishes were fine, but lacked the distinctive flavor or creativity one would expect for the prices. Speaking of prices, I found them a bit high for what was offered. However, the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, I'd say the Altes Mädchen is a nice place to enjoy a beer, but when it comes to food, there are certainly better options in Hamburg for the same price.

We were there with 11 people because everything was great, the food was great, the service was great, always happy to receive goods

Wir waren mit 6 Personen am 15. März nach der Messe dort essen. Mein Rumpsteak war derart verfettet und durchwachsen, dass ich 60% des Fleisches nicht kauen konnte und habe es deshalb liegen lassen.2 Mitarbeiter hatten geschmorte Ochsenbacke bestellt. Die war so zäh, dass beide sie zurückgegeben haben. Sie bestellten stattdessen Wiener Schnitzel die frittiert kamen und das für 32,- Euro! Ich fragte den netten und bemühten Kellner ob er das Essensdesaster seinem Chef mitgeteilt hätte, was er bejahte. Dieser hielt es nicht für notwendig zu uns an den Tisch zu kommen. Er meinte lediglich zu zu unserem Kellner „das nächste Mal müssen wir das besser machen“.

Located in the middle of the Schanzenviertel. Subway stop “Sternschanze”. And it's heavenly here too... Digga, what a great location... what a great concept... hey, they bake bread and beer sticks and stuff fresh for you on the table, as a starter or a side dish with the beer. Speaking of beer... the most delicious drink is here... super nice service... Mega brewery charm... Price-performance quite reasonable... not that cheap... but... hey... you have to do it when you're in HH... but it's better to make a reservation, we waited for an hour, but hey... the duck gets fat in the end... and it was worth it... Crystal clear recommendation!!!

Unsere Freunde hatten einen Tisch für 18:00 Uhr reserviert und waren sogar etwas früher da. Dennoch wurden wir erst um 18:15 eingelassen, nicht ohne uns darauf hinzuweisen, dass wir den Tisch um 20:00 Uhr wieder frei machen müssten – was uns bereits bewusst war. Die erste Bestellung konnten wir zügig aufgeben, und unsere Mahlzeiten und Getränke kamen schnell an den Tisch. Beides war solide, gutbürgerliche Küche, die durchaus schmeckte. Als wir jedoch um ca. 19:15 Dessert, Kaffee und vielleicht noch einen Schnaps bestellen wollten, begann das eigentliche Problem: Wir wurden vom Servicepersonal aktiv ignoriert. In den verbleibenden 45 Minuten konnten wir keinen einzigen Kellner dazu bewegen, an unseren Tisch zu kommen. Pünktlich um 20:00 Uhr jedoch wurden wir ohne Umschweife abkassiert. Insgesamt eine enttäuschende Erfahrung. Gutbürgerliche Küche gibt es anderswo günstiger und mit deutlich besserem Service – und vor allem ohne das unnötige Getue. Schade, wir hatten uns auf den Besuch gefreut.

We were there spontaneously on a Sunday evening and got a place straight away. Service very friendly and quick. The food was very tasty and completely fine. The beer we selected was very good. Only the music (heavy metal) was really too loud and, although that's a matter of taste, wasn't really good.

Reservation is recommended. Atmosphere is good, there are indoor and outdoor seating options, and the food quality is medium, let’s say it wasn’t my best fish&chips ever, I tried some other dishes (e.g. nachos and bread & dip), none of them were my favorite. They brought us their own self-made beer samples, very interesting, but didn’t liked them also. It is a crowded place overall, but with lots of seats, and the toilets are not wheelchair accessible.

Five nice, smiling waiters left us cold at the beginning. 5 other very nice(!) but stupid waiters served us. There was a lot of confusion and drinks late. Otherwise, the shop remains a top favorite thanks to its ambience, food and drink (apart from lake warm vodka)! The error is definitely in the system.

A fantastic meal in Hamburg, lovely staff and tasty beer. The sample platter of local brews was fantastic and made even better with a fantastic burger.

Friendly staff, cool atmosphere... but really incredibly bad beer and the food is at best cafeteria quality.

The taste of the food is just okay, and given the prices you wouldn't expect to leave the restaurant hungry...

The fries on the burger were oversalted, the patty was dry and completely cooked through. The schnitzel was sticky and the dumplings were bland. The service was ok at first but then it deteriorated.

Super nice bar, unfortunately always very full after 6 p.m. And the acoustics leave a lot to be desired. But a very nice atmosphere and great beer. Larger beer garden in summer. The service is always quite quick. In winter there is a nice fire in the open fireplace. Very tidy and always clean toilets. You can really go there.

It's going ok. Portions are pretty average for the money. At least when it comes to side dishes for burgers. Service was ok, but no smiles, no feeling of welcome. Seemed like pure mass production to me. In fact: it used to be more pleasant here.

The ambience and service are quite good, but the schnitzel is not good at all. I think gristly, tasteless and small for €22 is quite a word. The “fries” were okay, there are no fried potatoes??? More of a shop for people who already have a good cup of tea and don't value good food that much.

Expensive, noisy and bad food. Don't go! Regarding your inquiry about my review: What is your claim? The beer prices are far too high for a BREWERY RESTAURANT. The convenience dumplings were simply unacceptable and the meat and sauce were off. The food was also far too expensive for the quality.

In my opinion, value for money is not that great. So the portions are pretty small for the price. Service was quite nice. One of the waiters seemed a bit annoyed.

We went there without a reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, which was perfectly fine with us. Unfortunately the service afterwards left a lot to be desired. It took a very long time to even get served and after we had our first beer we were not asked if we would like to order more. Even if we wanted to order something ourselves, we had to wait a long time. The food was good, but the overall slow service spoiled the impression a bit. All in all it was okay, but we would have liked more attentive service.

Extremely poor experience. Made a special journey from Hamburg centre to come to this brewery taproom. The place is busy, but still plenty of seats available. The man wanted me to sit on the most uncomfortable metal stool left next to the bar - I refused, he said that's all there is, and I walked out. Very poor. Do not recommend wasting your time.

The store was full on Saturday evening and therefore quite loud. Anyone who wants to have a conversation should keep this in mind. The beer selection is good, the first order of drinks arrived quickly. The waiting time for the food was also ok. Unfortunately, the additional drinks replenishment did not work in a timely manner. The Kaiserschmarren as dessert arrived quicker than the beer ordered at the end of the main course. The boneless knuckle has little to do with a traditional grilled knuckle. The taste was okay but the rind wasn't crispy enough. Mustard is part of a knuckle, but is charged extra at 70 cents. Schnitzel and meatballs were good.

Great ambience and service in a renovated industrial setting. We were here for an aperitif and tried the beers. The service was nice and quick, the prices are a bit higher but the quality is good, so that's fine 🙂

I went there for brunch with my girlfriend. It's very nice there and the staff is friendly but brunch should be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. But unfortunately nothing was properly refilled after 11.30 a.m. I thought that was a shame and I don't know anything about it. We weren't there until 10:30 a.m. (I came from Lübeck) and, as already written, the choice of food was then only limited. Maybe you should either adjust the times/price or describe it like that. But what was “still” there was really tasty and very good quality.

A great place for unforgettable moments! I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the Old Girl - Ratsherrn Braugasthaus in Hamburg, and I was thrilled! The location offers a beautiful, stylish atmosphere with lots of charm, perfect for weddings. The team was extremely friendly, helpful and very professional, which made working as a photographer incredibly pleasant. The culinary variety and the high-quality drinks delighted all guests and rounded off the day perfectly. Many thanks to the entire team for the great collaboration and for making the day so special for the bride and groom and their guests. I'd love to come back!

Another visit to the Altes Mädchen restaurant on Lagerstrasse. Very good schnitzel on al dente potato salad and “Labskaus Old Girl” with fried egg, gherkin on request only with rollmops, thank you very much. Otherwise it is served with Bismarck and Rollmops. The consistency of the Labskaus was strange and a spoon was missing. Very friendly service staff.

First of all: it was clear to us that the reservation was only valid for two hours. In general, it should be noted that the food, ambience and beer were once again very good. Unfortunately the service here cannot keep up. The four of us had to wait almost fifteen minutes for our dessert (Franzbrötchen tiramisu) because it didn't come and we then had to kindly remind the waitress and she then said: "She would have to check whether it was ready" - which was a case of a completely chilled one Tiramisu already reminded me of a gag, so she actually forgot about it and brought it to us a minute later. As soon as we finished it, her colleague came and (un)kindly reminded us that we had to leave now because he needed the table (1:45 p.m.). The entire store was at most 1/3 full... unfortunately, this service behavior was difficult to convey to our American friends and ensured that there were no tips. Unfortunately, I find this behavior very inappropriate, especially since we had a turnover of over €180 at that point and would certainly have had another round of drinks. Perhaps the service could be brought back to the level it once was so that the Old Girl can serve as the starting point of our Hamburg tour next time. P. s.: Unfortunately, none of the councilors found it necessary to respond to two emails within seven days. Hence this bad review here. It's a shame, service is different.

Beer is good, the food is average (price above average). Regarding the service: we had reserved for 2 hours and were then charged 20 minutes before the end of the time and reminded again. 5 minutes later we were told that we should please leave immediately. It would have only been 1 hour 45 minutes. For me it was the last time here and I can't recommend it to anyone.

Brewery with many tables and a wide variety of beers. Very good atmosphere and friendly waiters. We had dinner there and the food was very delicious.

Unfortunately there was no kale during our visit, even though we had asked again the week before our reservation and even the day before and it was confirmed to us. Unfortunately, the schnitzel from the regular menu wasn't convincing: it looked like it had been in the deep fryer for too long, which meant that both the breading and the meat were very hard in some places. In this case, unfortunately the price-performance ratio was not right. However, the beer and the friendly service are positive.

The ambience is nice and cozy. We were looking forward to kale and duck leg from the winter menu for the fourth Advent. When we wanted to place our order after a long wait for the service staff, we surprisingly couldn't choose a dish from the winter menu, but could only order dishes from the normal menu. That was disappointing. We then ordered bread with dips as a starter and then decided on the knuckle. The bread with the dips was very tasty. While we were still enjoying the starter, the main course was brought to us. A little time apart would have been nice. Then we were asked about desserts. There were four different desserts to choose from. We then decided on the chocolate cookie... but unfortunately it was no longer available. ...very unfortunate.

Wir haben mit der Familie Sonntags nach verschiedenen Veranstalten im Brauhaus wieder getroffen. Wir waren etwas später, die Mädels waren noch etwas später. Die Küche hat auf uns gewartet, so konnten wir noch gemeinsam essen.

The food itself was ok, but the extra winter menu that was advertised online was not available. When asked, the waiter also responded very strangely. We chose the restaurant specifically for this purpose. The knuckle as an alternative had hardly any crust, which I always think is important. There were also only limited bedside tables. Beer was delicious. I don't necessarily have to do it again

It is a very cosy place with extremely helpful staff. As a vegetarian, I think I had the tastiest vegetable burger I have ever tried. I was also with a friend of mine who has coeliac disease and they were very kind in recommending dishes and even bringing her gluten-free bread. Needless to say, the beers are fabulous

Very easily accessible brewery at Sternschanze. The meals are rich and of good quality, the selection of beers is large and very tasty. There were four of us here and we felt very comfortable.

Great ambience... no problem at 5 p.m. even without a reservation... nice staff... menu rather small but OK... everything very tasty

I visited this place and unfortunately I was very disappointed. Although the menu promises a wide selection of beers, many of them are actually not available. Additionally, the waiters were extremely unfriendly and pushy, which made the entire experience very unpleasant. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

Choosing a beer from the list is like a puzzle; you can only find the one that is available after 3-4 tries and they keep asking when we are going to eat, the answer is simple: when I am hungry.

The food was delicious and the service was good. However, the size of the portion was an absolute disgrace. I had the oat schnitzel for €20 to try something new. A small schnitzel (no bigger than the palm of my hand) came to the table with a small pile of potato salad next to it. This was not nearly enough to satisfy the hunger of the average person! Not recommended!

Beer is great, atmosphere is alright and it good to spend time.

Good food for meat eaters, great bread, reasonable price, all products available until the end.

The waiter literally took the drinks menu out of my hands while I was still ordering and placed it on the empty table next to us, saying, ‘Each table should have only one., was ist denn das…?!’ and walked away… We were four people… Wow. I’ve never experienced such unfriendly customer service before. Our waiter didnt do anything about and pretended this is „normal“… Never ever I will go there again. The food btw was also bad quality.

The food was disappointing. The hamburger was completely overcooked, so dry that it had to be “sawed”. In addition, the waiter mixed up our order and the service overall was very superficial. Not recommended.
