Altes Brauhaus in Koblenz

I was there on a Tuesday evening. The food was very tasty and the XL portion is really an XL portion, see picture. The schnitzels were tender and perfectly fried. The fried potatoes were not too big but not too small pieces either. Perfectly seasoned and seared. The service was also perfect. You can't complain about the old brewery

The food was super tasty. I like to eat my steak well done and it was cooked to perfection and not tough or dry. The service was simply great. I deducted a star for the ambience because the tables are very close together and it gets very loud. But it's definitely worth another visit.

Today the knuckle of pork was very dry; I thought it was deep-fried or completely over-grilled. Unfortunately, there was hardly any of the good flavor... Large glasses of 0.5 liters or more aren't very customer-friendly either. After today, I wouldn't eat here again. My companion had a schnitzel, which she found to be OK. It's a shame it's gone down so much. The ambiance is still great, and the staff was okay.

Typische, urige Brauhaus- Atmosphäre. Nettes, aufmerksames Personal. Wir hatten reserviert und wurden freundlich empfangen. Trotz Hochbetrieb wurde das Essen schnell serviert. Reichhaltige Speisekarte u.a. Schnitzel in allen Variationen und verschiedenen Größen (L/ 2 Schnitzel - XL/ 3 Schnitzel) Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

On our city trip to Koblenz we decided on the “Alte Brauhaus”. And that was a brilliant decision. Absolutely great atmosphere paired with a very friendly team and very tasty food. We had a very nice evening. Absolute recommendation.

There are exceptionally huge and, above all, tasty portions here. Friendly employees who are nice, even if short, even under extreme stress. Sure, in the end our bill came to €100 for 2 people, which is amazing. We could have avoided saying “Only the tough ones go into the garden” because that came at the same time as our main meal.

Everything was great...food, service staff, everything around... Except for the toilets...when you came in it smelled like the elevators at the train stations. We should see that this is changed. Even in British pubs this no longer happens. Otherwise everything was great.

My husband and I are from California and we were traveling down the Rhine on a river cruise. We had the opportunity to stop in Koblenz. We decided that we wanted an authentic German dinner experience. While walking around the old town, we noticed the Altes Brauhaus down a side street. It looked really interesting so we walked by it and noticed it was full of people. We waited in line and even though it was packed, they were happy to seat us. We were concerned about not knowing the language and not being able to read the menu but we were pleasantly surprised to find out they had menus in English and staff that spoke English. The restaurant was full of people. German was being spoken all around us but we were made to feel right at home. The food was delicious! It was authentic German food and the best we’ve ever had! The wine and beer were also very good! We will remember our German dinner for many years to come. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

Also vegan/vegetarian dishes, great service, would go again!

Check your receipt!!!😡😡😡 I paid by card without any special instructions during the ordering process, but there was an extra drink on the receipt. I got a cash refund because the card could not be cancelled😤😤😤 The haksen was delicious, but this is a famous schnitzel restaurant.

In the event of a catastrophe, please do not call the haxe

I recommend this restaurant because it's a comfortable place, even though there's a constant coming and going. The food is served quickly and the value is good.

On Monday I tried to eat at the restaurant with my partner, without a reservation. It was packed, only room at the high tables on bar stools. Given our relatively old age, this was really not an option. Okay, we made a reservation for Tuesday evening and received confirmation that we were welcome from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Upon arrival, we could only get a seat on the high stools again. Or at a terrible table near the entrance and only until 7:00 PM. It seems that two people are not really welcome here. The reception was rude and uninterested. We just left.

Were there late afternoon on a Saturday. We called half an hour in advance and got a table for 4 at short notice, but only for an hour. It was very crowded. The food was okay, nothing special. The service tried hard but was overwhelmed by the many guests and therefore forgot a drink.

The waiters are very arrogant and disrespectful. Not worth to be tipped. Guys, you're paid to do your job, if you have any disrespect, just keep it inside, don't show it to your customers!

The food was OK. Unfortunately the portions are very, very large. I think a beer for €5.90 is just too much. I didn't choose based on taste, but rather based on smaller portions. I find that very unfortunate. The two of us left €75 behind. 2 meals, each beer and a drink. That's just too expensive.

I was there once and never again I didn't like the food at all

Good brewery, you get a lot for your money. The service is super nice and the food comes very quickly. Today the dish was not perfectly chosen. The baked ham was a bit dry. Otherwise I can only recommend other dishes. The atmosphere is quite nice, something more rustic would be perfect. Overall, everything is highly recommended.

Historic place in Koblenz, we ended up reading recommendations and reviews and were not disappointed in the slightest by the food. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, and I confirm that the sauerbraten is perhaps one of the best I have ever tasted. The portions are generous, and the quality-price ratio is really good. The menu is very large and can be intimidating for non-German speakers. The service doesn't exude friendliness, but it is efficient and relatively quick. At the entrance to the bathroom, there was a lady sitting asking for money (I didn't understand if she had to pay, but in any case I didn't have any change and I went in anyway).

Great ambiance and probably one of the bust pubs in Koblenz. The beer was outstanding. For food: Great schweinhaxe. Schnitzels were amazing. We had soup and salad too, which was okay.

Unfortunately, ready-made powder mashed potatoes were served. The sauce was quite salty and probably also a ready-made sauce (binder). Good sauerkraut, but quite salty. Average rough Sausage, why do additional flavor enhancers have to be put in there? Unfortunately, the coleslaw was swimming in the sauce to the puree. The cutlery was clean, but the service was extremely rude and spoke very quietly. No time was given to guests, very unprofessional. Fast food, warm food (not hot), Ambience not harmonious, kitschy, music inappropriate. Toilets absolutely dirty, toilet doors broken. Paper dispenser defective. Few guests, boring service. Absolutely no recommendation in my opinion!

Unfortunately, one of our drinks still had fresh lipstick on the glass - which makes you question the hygiene in the establishment. And, if you work in the healthcare system like I do, you know what can be stolen from a restaurant if dishes, glasses, etc. are not prepared properly - scary. The staff wasn't particularly attentive or friendly either.

given the length of the card, I had my doubts but given the rather positive comments and the photos, it made me want to. mistake on my part, we were fooled. - terrible service, unfriendly waiter because we spoke in French among ourselves and in German with the waiter. He preferred to be pleasant and smiling with young girls and German customers. Also dismissive with other tourists in the restaurant. - flat: • huge pork knuckle but very dry and cooked in deep frying, industrial mash, overly sweet sauerkraut (a matter of taste) and a bland brown sauce. • Black angus of 300g good quality meat and cooked as I wanted but a huge quantity of onion on it. industrial fries, not cooked enough for my taste. I only ate my meat for 34 euros, it’s limited We were not offered salt or pepper. Full restaurant but for my part a tourist trap. Having already traveled to Germany several times, this was a disappointment and not representative of good typical German cuisine.

Bonne cuisine allemande. Les parts sont ÉNORMES, vous n’arriverez pas à engloutir une entrée, un plat et un dessert…faut faire un choix .. entrée ou dessert 🤣🤣

I had the pieces of knuckle with fried egg, braised vegetables, spaetzle and sauce. Sounds like a lot? Unfortunately it wasn't... What can I say, that was nothing. People now simply expect something different from a brewery. Normally it tastes very good and the portions are generous. Unfortunately, neither was the case. And by the way, charging 5.90 for a 0.5 cola is really beyond good and bad - in my opinion. I was and was disappointed and unfortunately I cannot make any recommendations here.

Went here for dinner on a city trip to Koblen. The Altes Brauhaus is coolly decorated, the staff was friendly and on the ball. I ordered the spare ribs, they tasted really tasty and were a really big portion, the price/performance ratio is right here. Luckily we had reserved the table, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten a seat on Saturday evening.

Very loud and very crowded, good food and good beer. I don't understand the toilet joke, why should I pay as a guest and why am I insulted if I don't pay.

Delicious breakfast with a lot of selection of sausages, cheeses and sweet spreads. With scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice, various bread and rolls. Staff very friendly.

We were there with a group of over 25 people, and the restaurant was well prepared for that. All dishes came almost at the same time and tasted delicious. We find the price performance to be appropriate. We had a great evening here, keep it up.

Yesterday after a stroll through the city we had dinner at the Altes Brauhaus. Get a table straight away without a reservation. Great service. The food is delicious and the service is absolutely professional and always there immediately without you having to make yourself known. Nice quaint inn. Absolute recommendation... We will definitely come back.

The five of us were out near Koblenz on Thursday evening and spontaneously got off the motorway and went to the brewery for dinner. Even without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed by the waitress and given a table. All dishes were very tasty, large portions and price/performance was impeccable. Strengthened, we then continued on to southern Germany. We'd love to come back sometime. Big praise to the nice service lady.

Jägerschnitzel is rather average. Poor quality meat, more bulk instead of class.

We visited the brewery on January 21st, 2025. The ambience and food are great. I had the grill plate, which also came with sauerkraut at my request. It was wonderful. The only drawback: for groups of eight people or more, you can no longer pay separately by card. Actually inappropriate for the year 2025. Nevertheless, the brewery is highly recommended if you appreciate good home cooking!

Typical German Brauhaus. Food was delicious. Wife and I both had schnitzels. Dishes are huge - I took XL and couldn't finish it all. Service was great. Would definitely go again when I'm in Koblenz again.

Rustic brewery atmosphere with a long bar and friendly service. Large portions, I would soon order the spare ribs for two people to share, that's massive. If it's too much, you can also get a take-away box upon request, very good.

Very poor dining experience here, was extremely disappointed with the service. Waiter talked to us in a manner like ordering us. Didn't feel respected as a customer. Food wasn't so good too. The sauce was cold when it was served.

Many restaurants were closed on New Year's Day, but the brewery was open and luckily we still got 2 seats. Food was very good and plentiful. I can only recommend it.

It's good. but I don't like being forced into tipping. Please note, the TPE is already programmed for compulsory tipping. And I'm not sure if the treatment is applied to Germans.

Were there the day before New Year's Eve, so of course we had to make a reservation, as the restaurant is fully booked. And rightly so! Table allocation was well organized, the waiters were super friendly and attentive (thanks Vadi) and the food came quickly. The dishes were all super tasty and huge portions. Price/performance absolutely correct. Yes, you are only allowed to sit for 2 hours but in my opinion that is absolutely sufficient. You will also be informed of this when you make your reservation. We even found it pleasant that we could sit in peace until 8 p.m. without the feeling that other guests were waiting 😉 Any time !

Great restaurant with great food

A visit on one of the Christmas holidays has now become a bit of a tradition, super nice service, a good selection (even for vegetarians!) and the taste is great. The steak in particular is highly recommended. Always my pleasure!
