Somewhat conflicted about this place. Came in with a group of 7 to a seemingly irritated waitress. Between the disinterest, snappy responses and shouting "No, later" when we politely asked to order some additional drinks, we didn't feel too welcome. So much so that we chose to forgo the tip. Only to have the waitress challenge us and ask why we did not give anything. All for the whole restaurant section to hear ... In the end, the food was more than decent. The salads and pork knuckles were great. So they did deliver on that.

THE TRATITIO LOCAL IN THE KOBLENZ PEDESTRIAN ZONE. Rustic atmosphere. Large menu with traditional Rhenish dishes that are rarely found. Huge portions, but still of good quality and taste. The pricing can also only be judged to be extremely cheap. The guests consist largely of “tourists” There are hardly any free seats at lunchtime. Advance reservation strongly recommended. For me: Always happy.

Solid spot for traditional German dishes and beer. Service is good. Enough English to make us tourists feel at home. Dishes are served promptly. Food was hearty and tasty. Bring an appetite, portion sizes are huge. The atmosphere is just what you would expect from a German restaurant.

Where or how should I start...I'm still totally shocked. Yesterday we spontaneously went to the brewery. Very very full but luckily we got a table. Even if squeezed into the last corner. But our anticipation of the meal was greater so we just accept that.... Ha...well...we focus on "anticipation".... We've been there several times and have always been very enthusiastic. Only yesterday was the day where we now say...never again. After we finally agreed on what to choose from the delicious offerings on the menu, we decided on the old town pan for two people. The food came very quickly considering it was very full. Unfortunately, the first problem was the plate that was brought in, which was dirty. We complained about this and got it replaced with a rather annoyed expression on the waiter's face. But the second plate wasn't much better. We thought...oh screw it, we'll eat from the pan. What I have to say about the pan is... It's carelessly prepared. The fries literally sponged in the broth of the sauerkraut and when softened. The meatloaf slices have a spot of grease on top. Ketchup and mustard were carelessly slapped into the pan, why not serve them separately on a plate or something. That was the first thing that was a bit annoying. We were just about to start. I actually discovered a long black hair between the two slices of baked ham. My husband called the waitress straight to our table to tell us what was going on and how they didn't want to eat like that. We felt a little taken aback by the waitress who said they couldn't see the hair at all and there was nothing there. Until my husband pulled it out with his fork and placed it on the white napkin. She also says there is nothing to see. That couldn't be right because the kitchen staff would all be bald. I'll leave out the fact that she had long black hair. Very unfriendly and annoyed, she took the plate away and brought us the menus again. We should choose something new. Unfortunately, we lost our appetite and the unfriendly manner of the staff made us decide that we would rather go somewhere else to eat. We then said we didn't want to order any more and left the restaurant. We asked for the bill for our two drinks. Which we really had to pay for such inconvenience, which was really outrageous. In a good restaurant that would have been the minimum compensation. On the contrary... strangely enough, you were asked if you hadn't been there a few days ago. The last time we were there was in November. This one star is actually too many. Because we have actually never had anything like this on this scale. And as you know us, we travel a lot to established restaurants. Always fair and honest. Our conclusion... Very, very unfortunate. But we won't come again.

I have ordered Haxe (pork knuckle) and it is the best so far that I have tried throughout Germany. I have been to the Bavaria area where pork knuckle was originated but this restaurant has topped that. The skin was super crispy, the meat was very tender and the joint melted into the mouth. The portion was huge that I had to take away half of it and ate it the next day (one Euro charge for the packing). Will definitely visit this restaurant again the next time I come to Koblenz:)

Everything was great. We did not make a mistake with the place to have dinner. I advise you to make a reservation. But we were lucky and found a table. We ate sausages, cutlet and schnitzel. The food is delicious and the beer too. The waiters are also well done, they try.

We thought we should have eaten bratwurst in Koblenz at least once and I opted for the version with sauerkraut. And that turned out to be very tasty! It was also a lot. The restaurant itself is cozy but noisy.

No, it wasn't for us. Food was all slightly overcooked; potato wedges were too hard, schnitzel was a bit too chewy. Our waiter wasn't exactly enthusiastic either. Moreover, people are pushed together at one table a little too easily.

At around 10 p.m. on a Saturday night, lights were dimmered and loud music started. Not good for conversation, but my conversation wasn't going anywhere anyway so this kinda saved me lol. Very good food!

There were two of us eating and the service was very nice and quick. We waited about 10 minutes for our food even though the restaurant was pretty full. We ordered sauerbraten and grilled dishes. The food was very tasty, the portions were huge, half was packed for us. Highly recommended!!!

The keg Bitburger was OK, but we didn't like their schnitzel and Mett Kaese. The portions were large, and the purple sauerkraut was delicious; but the food was a disappointment.

08/05/2024: ⚠️CAUTION!!!⚠️ TOURIST RIP-OFF!!! SERVICE terrible, waiter spilled beer, table wasn't cleaned and no new beer was brought, FOOD was like that (heaven and bad), 2 bags of mustard IN the sauce, was asked very intrusively (3x) when paying by card because. Tip. Nothing works at all. The Altes Brauhaus only has one thought/goal --> THE MONEY FROM THE CUSTOMER!!! 🤬 Everything else doesn't matter. The negative recessions are true. I can't understand the positive ones. I know a lot of breweries and other catering establishments but I have never experienced service like this. I hope I was able to help the Dutch people at the next table and they left after their drink. Afterwards I went to a café where my experience was confirmed without mentioning the location. Other locations were immediately recommended to me, although you could also eat in the café. That says it all, right?!

The restaurant was completely booked. Nevertheless, the waiter tried to get us to a table and was super accommodating. We had to wait a while for the food. But what we got was really good. You could tell from the food that the chef really wanted to cook. The food was great, and yes it is a little louder in the restaurant (it's a brewery after all) but all the employees do a great job. We'll be back

We have never been treated badly in a restaurant before. I really don't recommend going here. When we enter, we are shouted from a distance as to which table we should sit at, which is not polite, but we are not the most difficult. Without saying a word, two cards are placed down. A little later the waiter comes back to ask what we want to drink, unfriendly and grumpy. We order a bottle of wine and look further at the menu. When the waiter brings the wine, he asks what we want to eat. We indicate that we need to look further. With an angry tone the waiter says that it is now or never, because the kitchen is closing. At this point it was just after 8 and the restaurant would close at 10. Very early to close the kitchen, but also strange to report it like that and not make it clear at the beginning. Sighing, the waiter indicates that he will be back in 2 minutes. In the meantime, he has a dinner menu again at a table with new guests and apparently the kitchen was not closed for them yet? We were so shocked by how this waiter treated us that we decided to drink the wine and eat somewhere else. We indicated this to the waiter and when paying we were not said hello. We have never run away anywhere. We are not critical at all, as long as people are friendly everything is fine. But what a terrible experience this was. I sincerely hope that the waiter will look for another job because this is clearly not something that suits him. Horrible.

We had dinner at the Altes Brauhaus during the UEFA European Championship and it was an extraordinary experience with the many international guests. From the time we entered the venue until we paid and left we felt comfortable. The service staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. It's rare to find such professionalism these days. The ambience was typical of a brewery, nice and inviting. The furnishings are very comfortable. My house specialty spareribs with coleslaw and fries as well as the grilled zander fillet and my wife's bouquet of lettuce were a dream. The price/performance ratio was absolutely fine. In summary, it is a place where EVERYTHING is 100% right. Only recommended.

Well, you're stuck to the chairs because the store is still stuffy despite everything being open. The children's fries were floury and wobbly/moderately warm and certainly not freshly made (which is what the waiter said). The fish fingers were delicious but of course from the supermarket (that's ok too). The speci was lax. The men with sauerbraten were satisfied. The service was so-so - rather unmotivated and didn't ask if everything was OK or if we wanted any new drinks. We would then have to request the invoice ourselves. The fact that the regulations for EC card payments are posted on every corner does not build any sympathy. The joke mentioned is outdated and unfunny... I wouldn't come back...

Without a reservation we got a place for 5 people. The service was quick when taking the order. After a short wait, the food arrived. The sauerbraten was very tasty, the portion was sufficient and filling. The fries in the other dishes tasted bad. They tasted floury and like they had been warmed up. The staff was asked about this and simply stated that the fries are always freshly prepared. Well...then it must have been the oil. Clearing up took a while, and we still had to remember that we wanted to pay. The men's room had a strong smell.

If you want to go out for a delicious meal, this is the right place. There is typical brewery food. My knuckle was with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, I didn't manage to eat it all. My wife had a vegetarian schnitzel, she was very enthusiastic and it looked very good. So you get delicious food at fair prices. The staff is very friendly and try to fulfill all wishes. If we're in Koblenz again, we'll be back.

We visited the brewery for the second time last night. However, last night we had to pay €1 to go to the toilet pay and when leaving the restaurant We were able to spot a mouse over the wooden paneling (also over the kitchen door) 🐭 admire. I asked the waitress about it and she said that is normal because the doors are open in the evening. My guests and I couldn't understand this reaction and will consider going again. It's a shame, but that can also scare people away. 😔

Last weekend we were at the brewery with 4 people and had reserved a table for 2 hours at 6 p.m. Unfortunately, a longer reservation was not possible. The service hastily picked up the drinks and the food and then served them very quickly. The food was good, the beer too. However, the volume was so high that it was hardly possible to have a conversation at the table. The guests at the next table were more than very irritated because immediately after the goulash soup was served, the main course was supposed to be served just 2 minutes later. Only after a discussion with the service was the main course taken back into the kitchen. This is not how you as a guest in a good restaurant will be served! Everything seems to have to happen quickly without taking the guest's needs into account. We were then asked to pay the bill at 7:33 p.m. - Which seemed to be the most important thing for this location. In our opinion, the service employees were under a lot of pressure, which we as guests felt more than clearly due to the hectic pace in the brewery. Since we had originally planned to stay in the brewery for a long time, we reserved a table again at 8 p.m. However, the owner kindly but firmly refused us this. It seems to be the case that you can make more money with new guests, as they might also be able to have a meal in addition to the drinks and we can probably only earn more through the drinks, and therefore less can be earned. We felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed but rather dismissed. In all these years we have never been treated like this in any restaurant. The guest's quick money seems to be the most important thing. We cannot recommend the old brewery and cannot understand the many good reviews.

Food very tasty, staff could be a little more attentive. Quaint restaurant, but you have to cuddle up because you're sitting very tight. For example, I had to get up every time someone from the next table wanted to leave. This is annoying when you actually want to sit comfortably together.

Was completely ignored by wait staff for half an hour. We were asked if we were eating, which we were, and seated and our drink order taken fairly quickly and menus dropped off. A large group of 40 or so individuals came in and then our drinks arrived with the waitress not making any eye contact, dropping the beers as she took off to deliver one more. Didn’t ask for or give time for food orders and we didn’t see her again. Another table struggled to pay, a third waited a long time for any service. Finally after a half hour, when another staff member was finished making coffees for the group of 40 he noticed our stack of menus and asked if everything was ok. We had long since given up on food and asked to pay. Amazingly our waitress returned in just a few moments to collect payment. Perhaps if you arrive after 12 when they seemed to have more staff you would have a better experience. Didn’t try the food but the house beer was good.

Nepotism takes precedence over customer service... it's a shame the attempt without a reservation failed in the end because the staff preferred people for no apparent reason... in any case, they didn't have a reservation either.

Dear Altes Brauhaus team, We were with you this evening and it was fantastic. This is exactly how you imagine a brewery to be in terms of the ambience and the food. The food was amazing! Never had such a good meatball with creamed savoy cabbage and fried potatoes. Also my partner's schnitzel, not tough or anything, but super juicy and delicious with the homemade sauce. The service staff was also very attentive and friendly, even though the restaurant was completely booked. The price-performance ratio is also good, you get a really good portion for your money. We went there without having booked a table. Got help at the bar who said that if we ate schnitzel we had an hour before the next party would arrive. Extraordinarily! No more time is needed to eat good food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Ribs (No. 49), the house specialty, are great. At 8:15 p.m. on Monday, however, things are on the loose there, the place is packed and loud. Nothing works without a reservation. The service was overwhelmed at times.

Io con mia moglie ed i nostri 2 bambini abbiamo trovato questo locale storico girando nel centro di Coblenza, era sicuramente interessante mangiare in un locale presente dal 1689, come riportato all'esterno. Siamo quindi entrati ed abbiamo ordinato. Il cibo era discreto e l'accoglienza sufficientemente cordiale anche se piuttosto fredda. Sembrava fosse andato tutto bene ma una volta giunto il conto notiamo che sono stati aggiunti 2 euro in quanto avevamo chiesto 2 piatti per poter dividere le pietanze tra di noi. Chiedo spiegazioni ad una cameriera e la stessa mi dice, con tono molto seccato, che noi siamo in 4 ma non abbiamo preso 4 pietanze bensì 2 e quindi ci hanno addebitato 2 euro per i 2 piatti!! Informo la signora che i 2 bambini non mangiano molto e quindi hanno mangiato assieme a noi le nostre pietanze (piatti peraltro piuttosto abbondanti) ed anche che è la prima volta che mi succede una cosa del genere in Germania ma la signora, dall'inglese stentato, non voleva sentire ragione e si allontanava in modo scortese, voltandoci le spalle mentre le parlavamo. Avrei voluto impuntarmi ma la presenza dei bambini mi ha fatto desistere. Che dire di una cosa del genere? Una vergogna!

Since my time with the pioneers in Koblenz in 1970, I have always enjoyed the best cuisine, perfect staff and a pleasant atmosphere with nice Kowelenz residents Schängelcher. It's worth driving here from the Lower Rhine and then heading into the city
