Alt Coblenz in Koblenz

Highly recommended restaurant in the heart of Koblenz. The owner changed a few months ago. We were there this evening with eight people, and everything was perfect: the selection of food and drinks, the attentive service, and the charming atmosphere. We'll be back.👍

You should definitely reserve a table. Even though we didn't, we were able to enjoy a good meal (albeit for a limited time) in this beautifully decorated restaurant. The service was very friendly.

This is certainly one of the best restaurants in Koblenz's old town. The old vaulted cellar invites you to linger for a while. The food is based on specialties typical of the Rhine and Moselle regions and is generally "good, home-style" with good to very good quality. It's definitely worth a visit!

We felt very comfortable there. The onion cake with Federweißer was delicious.

My wife and I spontaneously stopped by for lunch on Saturday (October 4, 2025) and were lucky enough to snag a table. We had googled it beforehand, and the menu promised "delicious food." And it certainly was... The ambiance, service, and food are just like "Grandma's," as we say in the Ruhr area. A huge compliment to the kitchen and service. 👏🏻 The two from near Dortmund 😊

Positive: Quaint ambiance, good food. Converse: Despite having a reservation, we waited almost two hours for our food orders to be taken. However, the friendly waiter was very accommodating, thus preventing a negative review.

Delicious... The kitchen knows what it's doing. Both the main course and the dessert surprised us with their taste. The service was good and always attentive. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very small, the tables are close together, but everyone still has their own space. We highly recommend it :)

The Wirtshaus Alt Coblenz is a classic German inn with dishes to match. I opted for the Wiener Schnitzel, and I didn't go wrong. The meat was tender and flavorful. The only downside that evening was the unfortunate fact that the tap was broken, meaning there was no cold draft beer. I switched to one of the many wines.

Had a disaster at Alt Wirthaus Koblenz. Most of the issues arose because the poor server was left alone to cover too many tables. However there were issues with the food too. So here is the list: - Waited a long time at the door before anyone came to seat us - got the wine order messed up and also couldn't find the sparkling from the wine list - the main course arrived when we were till eating out starter (waiter said thew chef was quick) - I ordered a glass of red wine when my steak arrived and it didn't come until i was nearly finished (waiter said he forgot) - the steak was advertised with bearnaise sauce, it arrived with a curry sauce, I ask for bearnaise and the server checked with the chef and told me that was the chefs bernaise sauce.) Perhaps we got the restaurant on a bad evening, it was not busy, I think it was a Sunday. But I think they still need more servers and shouldn't rush customers food and also learn how make bearnaise sauce.)

We visited this restaurant for the first time and were very satisfied. The service was very friendly, the food was delicious (meatballs with red cabbage and mashed potatoes, and roast beef with fried potatoes and remoulade), and the ambiance was such that you'd want to stay a little longer. Five stars for that.

We were here with a group and felt very comfortable. The food was very good and the ingredients were all fresh. After a lovely trip through Koblenz, we enjoyed some excellent food here. I felt very comfortable here and would definitely come back again. I highly recommend it!

Located in the old town, the brewery has been lovingly decorated. In addition to perfectly tapped beers, they also offer a variety of wines for wine lovers. The service is very attentive and courteous. We had the homemade beef roulade with fresh mashed potatoes, the classic version with red cabbage and a delicious sauce.

We sat outside, which was a lovely ambiance. The food was delicious.

We ordered a currywurst and realized there's no justification for the high price of €19.90. The sauce tasted like any fast food restaurant, and the currywurst, unfortunately, wasn't anything special either. The coleslaw, unfortunately, wasn't very good either and tasted very industrial, not to mention the uneven distribution of the seasoning on the fries.

Discovered this restaurant by chance. It serves carefully prepared traditional dishes, has friendly staff, and excellent food. Recommended.

The food was delicious, but the waiter was very unfriendly. Especially with outsiders, not with locals, whom he treated very kindly. He added a €25 tip to our bill, which we saw once he'd swiped the card, as he didn't give us a paper receipt.

Home-style cooking, just as we imagined. The wine was also delicious. We felt very comfortable.

Today, I went to the restaurant's outdoor area with my husband to have a coffee. The restaurant was about half full. After about 15 minutes, we were asked if we wanted to order. So we placed our orders. After another 15 minutes, we were asked if we had already ordered, and 5 minutes later, the same question was asked again. When no coffee arrived after 10-15 minutes, we left. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the quality of the coffee... but the restrooms were clean... that's why they give it one star.

Very nice place, very tasty food, the problem was that it took an hour to bring us the dishes... and the dishes were delivered in a hurry because I asked how long it was. The place wasn't full, it seemed like they forgot to take the order or something.

Here you can get delicious food at a reasonable price. The service is very good. Expect a bit of a wait for your food; it's cooked here, not just reheated. We'll be happy to come back.

A bit of a tourist trap located on a beautiful square. The atmosphere is lovely, a bustling square, filled with outdoor cafes and restaurants. We chose one that looked popular so the choice fell on Alt Coblenz. First impression is when the staff asks us to choose a table ourselves, there are maybe 10 boring tables but nothing is taken away. We get to pick up glasses, cutlery and plates from previous guests ourselves. Then they are quite attentive and handle the order well. A bit confused, forget to give us cutlery. But still nice. The food was quite ok. The sauce is overcooked and overreduced so it is far too salty and tastes almost burnt. Schnitzel and sausage, quite ok. But overall a bit too expensive for the food you get.

There were five of us here, and even though everything was already reserved, we were still able to eat and linger for a while. The service was good and, despite the rush of a full house, always friendly, attentive, and courteous. We also enjoyed the food. The interior is cozy. We would have preferred to sit outside, but luckily the rain drove us inside. We'd be happy to come back.

It was absolutely fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender, and flavorful. The roulade was just like mom's. Very good. The service was very friendly and accommodating. They thought of everything and had a good joke on their lips. The team also seemed relaxed and in a good mood among themselves. Highly recommended. Excellent value for money.

We ate here during our visit to Koblenz, sailing the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel with CroisEurope. The restaurant is very cute and quaint, the food was delicious (schnitzel and currywurst), and it was a nice change of pace (we've been eating French cuisine for a week). The staff was also very attentive and friendly. We'll gladly return on our next visit to this beautiful city.

We had a delicious meal for a good price. We hadn't booked, but it was no problem to be seated at a "reserved" table until 7:00 PM. We had a very tasty currywurst with some sauerkraut (?) and delicious fries, and apple strudel for dessert. 😋 The service was very friendly and professional.

Beautiful ambiance, a vaulted cellar, after all. Friendly service. The food, however, is subpar! The beef roulades are bone dry and tasteless. The rump steaks are inedible; both people who ordered them almost choked on them! I'd never go there again!

We spent a lovely evening here, sheltered under a parasol. The food was, in my opinion, very delicious, and despite the large number of guests, we were served quickly and very friendly.

We went to this place with our 4-year-old son, planning to have a quick meal and leave within an hour. A staff member initially explained politely that all tables were reserved but still tried to help us. Then suddenly, someone who claimed to be the owner appeared and very rudely said, “All tables are full, there’s space inside, don’t make this longer.” When my wife pointed out that he was being unnecessarily rude and could have communicated more respectfully, he replied: “This is my house — I talk however I want.” We left feeling deeply disrespected and uncomfortable. No one deserves to be spoken to like that — especially not in front of a child. We strongly recommend that you stay away from this place. If respect and basic courtesy matter to you, this is not the place to go.

The quality of the food is exceptional and the service very fast, despite the busy Friday night with a crowded terrace. We were outside; the only drawback was the noise of a popular square with a huge crowd; it was very, very noisy. But otherwise, the service was impeccable. We're French, and the server was very kind, understanding, and didn't hesitate to share a bit of humor, which was very welcome! We loved our meal. However, I recommend booking a table in advance on the restaurant's website.

Excellent service! Our server Toby made every effort to make sure we were well looked after. The food was plenty full and the taste was second to none. All in all a good choice for local fare. I really enjoyed the Schnitzel.

The food was good, but after I accidentally wished the Afghan waitress a "bon appetit" as well, he joined me and shared my dish. I highly recommend this restaurant for its pleasant atmosphere and delicious food.

The food and atmosphere were terrible, but the young Afghan man who served me was very nice and deserved a raise. He must have been working there for a long time.

Nice service, expensive food. A burger cost €21. It took about an hour to get the food. We ordered a burger cooked well. Our mistake: it was cooked to perfection and burnt on one side, as shown in the picture. After we pointed this out, we got a discount on drinks. I hope for the chef's sake, it was a slip-up with the price.

When there are 9 people drinking bottles of wine and wanting to eat something, telling an 11-year-old child in the group that he is not allowed to eat the kebab he brought with him at the table is not very child-friendly........

Had a very tasty meal, salmon and ravioli. Although it was very busy due to the great weather, the service was top.

We arrived without reservation. Waiter tells us waiting time is 5 min, but of course it´s 15. Until here, we understand. It´s a very bussy sunny afternoon. We order for our kids (12 +15) and for ourselves. After 50min I start asking our waiter for our order and complaining. Restaurant manager approaches to solve the situation, but when he finds out what table we are in, he means there is only one meal ordered (which btw has not arrived yet neither), instead of 4. He asuste me the dinner will come within 5 minutes and offers me to sit at the bar and have a beer. Obviously I don ´t want any beer, I want my kids to have dinner and to have dinner myself. After som more minutes waiting we decide to leave. I asked for the bill for the drinks we ´ve had (2 cokes +2 beers+ 1x 0% beer) and they state drinks are on the house. Luckily they had brought in some bread and butter with the drinks. At 9am we end up getting showarmas for dinner, which were amazing and easy to get. I am sure the food at this Alt Coblenz is amazing, we just didńt have the best experience this time. And wouldn ´t go there to try my luck again.

We have on Monday, April 14th. organized our wedding in Alt-Coblenz. Here our expectations of a wonderful day were even exceeded. The exchange with Mr. Steinmetz in advance was super nice and uncomplicated. We discussed all the details and received really good advice from Mr. Steinmetz. He responded to all individual requests and made every effort to implement them. The wedding celebration itself was absolutely perfect. The service staff did a great job and was very attentive and charming at all times. There really isn't a single photo that shows a guest with an empty glass 😁 The food was served at the same time and came to the tables nice and hot straight from the kitchen. With over 30 people, this is certainly not an easy task. Here too, individual requests were taken into account at short notice. For example, children could choose something different to eat. Here again an incredibly big compliment and thank you to all the service employees who looked after us so lovingly :) Even Mr. Steinmetz himself was on site and entertained us. We felt completely comfortable and are really happy that we hosted the wedding in Alt-Coblenz. Many warm regards and thank you again Thomas and Janina Porr

We spent a nice evening in Alt Coblenz. Since there was a large group there at the same time as us, we unfortunately had to wait a long time for our food. As compensation there was a bottle of wine on the house. The service was very good!

The prices are high, the taste is good, but they seem a bit overwhelmed when it comes to groups. The cellar is nice, but there's no cell reception or Wi-Fi there. The atmosphere is also very noisy.

Beautifully located in Koblenz's old town. Honest, authentic, and regional pub fare. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The food and drinks are delicious. Excellent wines are on the list. We sat outside. Because it got colder in the evening, they brought us warm blankets. This is a great place to stop for a bite to eat while visiting Koblenz.
