Very nice food and a cosy place!

Old style restaurant in the altstadt of Nurnburg. Amazing variety of food including local sussages. Great service!

We felt very comfortable. Eating in the style of the old knights was a special experience. Big praise to everyone involved in the kitchen and hall. Your team put their hearts into it. The beer was also very tasty. We recommend you.

It was our first time there and we thought it was one of the best evenings we've had in a long time. The staff, Brother Martin and Brother Stefan, are unbeatably great waiters, will try EVERYTHING to accommodate your wishes, are always very nice and always have a stupid saying on their lips. The musical accompaniment by the bard was the icing on the cake, he could sing very well and entertain wonderfully. Food, staff, price performance simply top top top. It wasn't the last time we were there! Thank you for your great work!!!

We ate Franconian Baggers (with grilled sausages) and Nuremberg sausages, we were very satisfied! The next evening we appreciated Alte Küch'n's food even more when we went to a more "touristy" restaurant (where the food was "just good").

The service was very very good. The food was very tasty on the first day, there was steak on the second day, a Schäuferl as a dessert, apple fritters, all recommended. The waitresses, two nice girls, took good care of our physical well-being. Everyone see for yourself.

A really cosy and warm place! Everything is the theme of German cuisine. We went there without reservation, but i recommend a reservation because it was very busy. Compliments to the two (!) ladies who served everyone! We had a great time! The steak was a bit overcooked, but still delicious. Overall, the experience was good and we definitely recommend this restaurant!

We ended up at this restaurant because of its beautiful location. It has a lot of atmosphere. We chose to only have a main course and both had a Hugo Spritz. When taking our order, the waitress was quite dismissive and curt when we tried to order in our best German. But hey, sometimes you can't have your day. After all, it was quite busy and the waitress was almost alone. The main courses were on the table within two seconds, it was probably already waiting for us eagerly in advance, but the speed of the order can hardly be called a negative. The food was also fine. After another somewhat awkward encounter with the waitress when she collected our plates, the long wait began. No question was asked if we wanted dessert and attempts to signal the waitress to pay the bill came to nothing. Then go to the bar yourself to pay. It was now at least 20 minutes later. Finally the waitress noticed us and gave us the receipt to check the bill. Before she entered the amount, she made it clear to us in both German and English in a very unfriendly tone that the service was not included in the price and that we could also leave a tip if we paid by card. Due to the unfriendly attitude earlier in the evening and the downright rude way in which she now forced us to tip, we did not accept this. At that moment the atmosphere became completely grim and she turned away from us (so we couldn't see her name tag?) and angrily and mumbling some swear words, typed the original amount into the payment machine. I've never experienced anything like this before. I almost always tip, but if the service is so rude and a tip is demanded in this way, the only certainty is that I will look a bit further next time.

On July 27th, 2024 I had dinner with a friend in your restaurant, but I received an incorrect bill. We ordered 6 Nuremberg bratwursts, a pork knuckle, a Kellerbier on tap and a Pilsner on tap, but the bill shows something completely different. Since I was a little drunk, I didn't check the bill properly. On July 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. I went to your restaurant. The woman with blonde hair was very rude. She didn't want to help me and screamed. She gave me 6 business cards from the restaurant and said that I have to come on July 29th or call the restaurant. Since I had to go to Munich on July 29th and I'm traveling at the moment, I couldn't come by or call.

Spectacular food. Waiter treatment of 10!! He speaks Spanish very well and gives great advice.

You can enjoy traditional German cuisine and beer in pretty mugs in a local atmosphere. The meat is very tender, not salty enough to be boring, and light. Advance reservation is required

Everything was fine! I recommend it to everyone who goes to Nuremberg! A huge storm was brewing and we didn't intend to eat, just drink a beer. We also sat outside so that there was room for the dinner guests. A nice tall, smiling, attentive waitress brought out the two beers. After a few minutes, the gentleman at the counter, who was also nice, came to do it for us inside instead! Let's go in!😍 I'll add that we didn't ask for it!!👏🏼 Of course, after all that, it's a good thing that we asked for a menu! We did it right! Everything was perfect. We actually wanted to escape from a thunderstorm and literally stumbled into the basement. Super nice service, who immediately took care of our physical well-being, even without a reservation. Food was really excellent, the Kellerbier is recommended, really tasty! The whole atmosphere was harmonious, I can only recommend it!

Were at the knight's dinner. The food was delicious, it was more than enough. Service was really great, the waitress was very quick. The music and the ambience are also very cozy and drinkable. However, it is very expensive for what is offered.

The place is beautiful and cozy. Russians speaking loudly at the next table is not a problem. Problem was a warm beer. Problem was bad food. Problem was a moldy bread.

Were there for the second time today and were thrilled again. The ambience is unique and you immediately feel like you are in the Middle Ages. The service was A with stars and the Schäufele was on point. That's why it deserves 5 stars.

I feel cheated, they saw us tipsy and gave us a disproportionate bill with many, too many errors: 13 jugs of water, when we didn't drink sparkling water, 6 beers instead of the 4 received, 11 sauerkraut instead of 6, 5 portions of prawns when we only received two, and so on… there were 20 of us but we paid at least €250 more than we had to. ----- Given the restaurateur's response, I am waiting for the photos with the 13 jugs and the six columns, I add that we did not ask for the prawns but were proposed to us by the Tunisian waiter: "a round of appetizers", of which we only asked for the sausages. As regards the division of the total into 7, we only need it for the expense report, we have no deduction on the expense. ------ June 2024 After two months, I changed my rating from 1 to 4 stars. In fact, last week the colleague, who had booked the aforementioned dinner for 20, was contacted by the restaurant owner and received a €200 bank transfer as a refund for the recognized error. Congratulations, this is honesty and fairness!

Wonderful environment in an underground cellar, service in typical costume, cheerfulness and friendliness. I recommend an excellent meat dish with sauces and potatoes plus sauerkraut made in different ways. In short, absolutely worth trying.

After the mammoth 30 KM hike, completely exhausted, we ended up in the restaurant Alte Küche'n by a lucky Google search. And what can I say, it was exactly the right choice. The food was great and the service was super friendly. So we went to eat there again right at the end of our Nuremberg trip. The next time we visit Nuremberg we will find you again defensively. A very special greeting goes out to dear Alicia who served and pampered us so well. Everything was great. Really recommend the pork shoulder. You can find the pork knuckle everywhere, but this is the first time I had the shoulder prepared the same way. Absolutely delicious

We had to make a reservation to get a seat. The food is regional and seasonally adapted. Delicious. The staff is very friendly and also goes out of their way to help with allergies. The price is a little higher but it's okay for the city center of Nuremberg.

The food and the fast service are recommended. We found it quite drafty as the door was constantly open and you sat in the passage. Unfortunately, it's not quite as comfortable.

We were with a group "In the Cellar" 2 floors deep in a vaulted cellar made of Anno Tuck. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was very tasty for my taste (tastes are always different). This ambience alone is worth a visit when staying in Nuremberg.

We had the knights' dinner as a company event and it was cool. It's very rustic and atmospheric down in the basement. The bard ensured a good atmosphere and plenty of alcohol flow. The food was good, there were several courses, with the knuckle I would have expected more than 2.5 pieces for a table of 7 people. I found it difficult to eat the lamb's lettuce with just a knife or my hands. Maybe something different could have been served here. All in all recommended!

Got a seat at a recommendation from our hotel. We will not be coming back. Very disappointed First a cute restaurant in old town Nuremberg. Sweet decor Got a menu - half drink order taken when neighbour spilt her wine. Waiter forgot to take rest of our order for 15 minutes- other people came in and ordered - finally we said we thought they had forgotten us Our order taken we got two dishes in 10 minutes. Mine looked wrong - waiter left them with us for aMinute or two while he investigated then came and ask if I’d tried it yet? No - I said so he took them off us saying they were for another table and gave them to someone else. Ewwww Glad that it wasn’t mine as the pork crackling was not crackled it was leathery and under done. (Yes I had poked it) I’m glad I was not the other guests. When we finally got our own meals they were a good size and my pork was nicely crackled. However half my kartoffelpuffer (potato cakes) were burned on the bottom and tasted burnt so not edible - the pieces that I had were floppy and tasteless. The dinner was fairly priced had it been nice but it was very average We won’t come back. The waiters need more training and the chef is not as good as all the other local restaurants I tried .

Rustic food and drink in the cellar under Nuremberg. We were here as a large group and felt comfortable right from the start. The service is great, quick-witted and funny, and is happy to explain more about the city and culture. There's nothing wrong with the food, wow. And when it comes to beer, you're always right :-)

Not suitable for vegetarians at all. It is even written on the Internet that there is also food for vegetarians, please stop that! A little tip: Eating is NOT vegetarian if there is meat sauce in the food. A vegetarian main course outside of salad on the menu is not appropriate in 2024.

The food, the service - top!! The prices are reasonable. I found it very loud at times, but that's the ambience of a rustic cellar and you just have to like that. I would really recommend it again. It is not suitable for wheelchair users, there are no parking spaces nearby and honestly: walking is healthy.

With our colleagues we return every year to eat in this typical restaurant. We've always had a good time, good food and a quaint place. But this year we had the unpleasant surprise of finding food and drinks on the receipt that we hadn't ordered. Unfortunately we did not check the receipt immediately but only the next day. The owner claims we are wrong and has videos to prove it. I would be curious to see them because we are sure of what we ordered and we have nothing to hide. The only explanation I give myself is that in good faith they brought us the bill of another table. Too bad for the unpleasant experience because otherwise I have nothing to complain about.

We were down in the basement. We even spontaneously got a table for 5. Gladly again!

At a dinner with colleagues (20 people), when checking the bill the next day, we were surprised to discover that they had added things to our bill that we didn't consume for a total of around €250. In fact, at the time, the €60 each seemed like a lot, but to discover that they played dirty in the confusion of so many people is truly disappointing. Not recommended.

We were having a knight’s dinner “in the basement”. There's nothing at all wrong with the food and ambience, the staff was friendly, the singer was good and knew how to use the atmosphere. He also came up with a number of funny ideas that, while certainly not authentic, were fun. Unfortunately, the unpleasant part came at the end: when you paid, you were insulted because you didn't tip “enough”. The money was then returned, which I don't think is behavior. In addition, people apparently became very nervous because one person had not paid immediately - the person was sitting at the table and wanted to finish their drink first. Unfortunately, the whole thing ended up leaving an aftertaste that won't let us go there again for the foreseeable future.

War ok. Wir waren wie jedes Jahr hier mit 14 Personen. Leider ist das Essen geschmacklich nicht mehr so gut wie früher und die ganze Veranstaltung geht Schlag auf Schlag. ( früher war es gemütlicher)
