Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus in Oberursel (Taunus)

Yesterday, we went to the brewery with friends for dinner for the first time in years, and we were all absolutely thrilled. The tagliatelle with wild garlic pesto was amazing, and of course, the home-brewed lager was amazing too 🍻😃 The little beer board with different varieties to try is also fun.

The beer was very good, the food was okay, but the aggressive tip-demanding approach takes it to a whole new level. It's unacceptable for me, so only 3 stars, unfortunately.

The Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus impresses with its rustic and cozy ambience. The service was friendly and attentive, so we felt completely at home. The food was also delicious and matched the hearty brewery cuisine. The house-brewed beers are particularly noteworthy - there are currently three types fresh from the barrel: Helles, Märzen and Fastenbock, which all taste very good.

For decades, a rustic restaurant with excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. Whether in the cellar, the beer garden, or the restaurant, it's run by friendly people from Orschel and the surrounding area. The home-brewed beers are also unique.

We were there for the first time on March 29, 2025 with a group of 10 people. Location is good, staff super nice, food was delicious! We didn't have anything out of the ordinary, but the side salad didn't come before the main course, sometimes after the main course. Of the 2 wild garlic sausages I ordered, only one was on the plate. When I asked, the second one came when my plate was empty. 5 double espressos ordered came as espresso macchiato. Otherwise everything was ok!

We visited the brewery with the team after our meeting. After a warm welcome, we enjoyed the good beer and other drinks, as well as the excellent food. Everyone on the team found something on the menu, and everything tasted delicious. The brewery is a quaint place where we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great, and when we started singing a song at the table, the people next to us joined in. The service was very attentive and fulfilled (almost) all our requests. Special praise goes to the kitchen, which prepared our large order quickly and freshly. We would be happy to come back.

Good beer, mediocre food… the service was not communicative and couldn't handle questions or criticism. We went here for dinner with a group of 13 people. It's a shame, things should be better in a location like this.

The food was very tasty. Prices ok. Ambiance inside typical German old restaurant. Outdoor beer garden atmosphere. Everything is very consistent. A small negative point for me: the fried potatoes are not my taste. But unfortunately there are no fries, croquettes or anything similar. Otherwise everything tasted great 👍

The two of us had dinner here today. The staff is consistently great and helpful. At the end of March we had a bit of Christmas table feeling again, we both ordered the venison goulash, which was just right. Buttery tender meat, the dumplings just right and the red cabbage too. I can only recommend the Bierbrett'l, so we took the Fastenbock and the Märzenbier as 1/2 liter. So everything was fine, thank you

Typical brewery: rustic and with lots of people. The waitresses were very polite and nice. The food came quickly and the Gaudi pan is recommended. More than enough for 4 people. For dessert, the Kaiserschmarrn was also delicious, and you'll be happy to come here several times

Sat in the beer garden to eat in the afternoon, tried the Helles and Märzen beers, both wonderfully delicious. The service is really outstanding, quick and very attentive. The dishes we had were game goulash, short ribs and cheese spaetzle, unfortunately the red cabbage with the game goulash came to the table just lukewarm, generally the rest, with the exception of the cheese spaetzle, wasn't really hot, which is especially useful when eating outside. All three dishes tasted good.

• Turkey schnitzel very very dry (no taste at all) • Child received an adult plate with turkey schnitzel/fried potatoes even though I asked. Value for money very, very expensive for three people, three drinks, a side salad and potato soup three main courses. Unfortunately we would have to leave half of it behind :( (very unfortunate for the animal) I'm very disappointed...

Das allerletzte!! Empfohlen von Hessen ala Card Da hatten wir gedacht wir probieren das mal aus. Besser nicht! Hatten Tisch für 4 Personen schriftlich reserviert für Sonntag 13:30 Uhr und auch bestätigt bekommen. Vor Ort angekommen wusste erst einmal keiner das Reserviert worden ist. Dann, es ist kein Tisch mehr frei wir sollen im Garten oder im Nebenraum essen. Es war sehr kalt. Im Nebenraum Fenster und Türen auf sehr kalt und Durchzug. (Ich bin behindert und kann keine Treppen steigen.) Es hieß der Tisch wäre oben. Wir baten darum zu schauen ob man mit anderen Gästen Eventuell tauschen kann. Kann da nicht helfen bin nicht zuständig!! War die Antwort. Das ist kein Witz!! Es war den Leuten völlig egal. Es blieb uns nichts anderes übrig als wieder Zu gehen. Vielen Dank für den versauten Sonntag. So etwas von Kundenfeindlichkeit ist mir Noch nie untergekommen.

The very last!! Recommended by Hessen ala Card We thought we would give it a try. Better not! Had a written reservation for a table for 4 people for Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and also get confirmed. When we arrived on site, nobody knew at first that has been reserved. Then, there is no table left, we should go in Eat in the garden or in the next room. It was very cold. In the next room there is a window and Doors open very cold and drafty. (I am disabled and cannot climb stairs.) They said the table was upstairs. We asked to see if there were other guests Possibly can exchange. Can't help, I'm not responsible!! Was the answer. This is not a joke!! People didn't care at all. We had no choice but to go again To go. Thank you for the dirty Sunday. I'm kind of anti-customer Never been there before.

Good day, What I'm rating here is just the food. The ambience and service was very good. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Now to evaluate the food. I had a cordon bleu with fried potatoes. The cordon bleu was lukewarm and absolutely dry, the filling had a consistency like a fried egg, I've never experienced anything like that (every snack bar does it better) After I let half a Cordon Bleu go back with a friendly greeting and a request to let the kitchen know. The service then apologized and that was it... It's a shame that the brewery actually has a good reputation, very disappointing. Many thanks to the service, which was friendly and accommodating. Good, regional German cuisine. The beer is brewed in-house and even impresses me, a non-beer drinker. Despite the somewhat difficult parking options, we like to come back again and again :)

Nowadays, in my opinion, it's just overpriced food and drinks of normal quality. I ordered the baked potato (with quark, green sauce and salad). Unfortunately there was no baked potato as you would expect, but 4 small potato slices with some salad and two small bowls with the sauces. Charging 16 euros for this is really not appropriate. Drinks are also rather higher priced. The atmosphere is no longer nice for me personally. It's a shame, we used to be regular guests here.

The home-brewed beer is convincing. Jägerschnitzel was very good. The colleagues had the schnitzel with green sauce. Everything was fine. Attentive service.

Perfect Frankfurter restaurant with no tourists

Gladly 5 stars, I always come here for a cozy get-together, to try beers 🍺 that you wouldn't otherwise drink and of course to eat. In summer there is a very nice beer garden here. The seasonal dishes are very delicious, I had tender game goulash and would have loved to order more. I would happily recommend the brewery 👍👏🏼.

It's great downstairs in the brewery, the upper floor has something of a hotel feel to it. Overall good but a bit expensive.

Solid food at fair prices! Smart service that doesn't "go down to the cellar for a laugh"! Since it is always busy, you should definitely make a reservation, even during the week.

Worst schnitzel I've ever eaten, bad service

Rustic and cozy furnishings, the beer is also wonderful, the staff is friendly and quick, so everything is really wonderful. But one thing in particular needs to be mentioned. The Brauhaus Haxe cannot be topped on this planet. This is a true masterpiece. I have eaten many knuckles in my life all over Germany. However, this one, already my second, is a maximum treat for the palate. Every square inch of the crust is perfect, the meat is tender, juicy and falls off the bone. If you miss this, it's your own fault, as every vegetarian becomes a meat eater again

If you want really good German cuisine in Oberursel you should definitely go here. The service is attentive and very friendly. The food is also really very good. I had the knuckle and it was really great and very filling. The atmosphere is very rustic, which some people will definitely like. So really great. The prices are normal in my opinion.

We were spontaneously looking for a cozy place for 6 hungry people to eat on a Thursday afternoon and found what we were looking for in the Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus. Without a reservation, we were offered an extremely pleasant place and, after ordering a well-advised drink, we started studying the menu. Although I couldn't find any fries, I was completely satisfied with my roasted potatoes, especially since they were stored next to onion schnitzel, which in my case was absolutely recommended. Since I like to reject the vegetable alibi side salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut, which I highly value, were actually recommended to me. I love both and the decision took a long time so I was served both together but strictly separated next to each other in a bowl... everything was really made possible here! Thanks alot. They are only strict when it comes to home-brewed beer and will never release it as diesel mixed with mundane cola - that's right! ....and guys: it tasted great! Next time I won't be able to decide between red and sour - but my order won't take as much time. Promised!

The service is very friendly, the food and beer are great, the ambience is also good, but you should make a reservation, even though the brewery is quite large :-) simply the best in the Taunus!

We were there with 10 people and ate and drank deliciously. The beer drinkers found it very tasty, the meat eaters thought knuckle etc. were good. As a vegetarian I had a nice selection. My green sauce with eggs wouldn't have filled me up, but a hand cheese appetizer made it okay. The waitresses were nice and typically Brauhaus direct, which I like.

I waited a very long time for the ordered dishes, and in the end they brought it to me cold. After my complaint, it was simply heated in the microwave. It was cold in the basement

Mega location. Ordered a light beer, I've never had such good beer, awesome!!!!! My wife drank a Pinot Gris which also tasted very high quality and we shared an Obatzter as a delicacy. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for everything.

It should also be possible to get a ColaBierMix in a brewery. Here the waitress refuses this with reference to the boss of the house....:o( Otherwise everything is fine and the food tastes good... Since the portions were quite generous, we decided to pack the rest... Unfortunately, this is only possible in these strange plastic boxes, which you MUST purchase for a rental fee of €5. Unfortunately, it was not possible to return it to the local Aral gas station, even though we were told exactly that at the brewery.

Pepper schnitzel, fried potatoes and green sauce

The Braunhaus Oberursel is always worth a visit 😁🍺🍽️🍗🥨 Unfortunately there are no real fried potatoes as a side dish for the schnitzel, only russet potatoes, which make less work for the kitchen but are not particularly tasty either.

Great beer. Food good too. Even when there is a lot of activity, things move quite quickly here.

The beer is good. The food was very weak. Breading is like schnitzel from a discount store, the fried potatoes are fluffy. So if you could at least get a huge amount on your plate in terms of quality, then it would be an acceptable concept. I won't come back and would advise against it.

I had reserved for two people and we were seated at a table for probably 6-8 people, which surprised us. When the waitress came, I hadn't looked at the menu yet because we were just sitting down. I ordered a sweet sparkling apple cider. Didn't know there wasn't one there though. Instead of being pointed out nicely, I was simply told “We are a brewery, we don’t serve cider”. That was actually enough for me. What is contradictory, however, is that they offer Wildberry Lillet & Aperol Spritz since they are a “brewery”. 😄 After 4-5 minutes a group of several people came and were seated at our table. I personally find it absurd. If I go out to eat with someone, I don't want to be seated at a table with strangers. Guests must be informed about this in advance. Wasn't done here. We left after less than an hour because it was difficult to have a conversation because the neighbors' conversations were constantly in our ears. The frankfurter schnitzel with a hefty price was ok, nothing outstanding, just a bit dry. You also notice that it is mass processing and that the well-being of the guests is put aside. Apparently the owners are doing too well. It's nice to sit here in the summer, but I won't be visiting the brewery again in the future.

Were there shortly before Christmas - very full, it was just check-in - price/performance/taste...... - - Of course the prices have risen everywhere... but a goose leg with a dumpling and a spoonful of red cabbage for €36 or even €39 is a decent price.

Cozy inn in Bavarian style. Here you can enjoy delicious food in a hearty atmosphere, with an emphasis on regional products. There is also a small selection for vegetarians. I particularly want to highlight the offer for children's dumplings with sauce for €0. A nice idea.

Great service! The tattooed gentleman hit the perfect sweet spot of being atmospheric, laid back and cool, but without being awkward/intrusive which is very rare. The rind of the knuckle was great, exceptional beer variations (really tasty). Prices were also fair. People are also happy to give tips. The dumpling could have been 20-30% bigger, but that's complaining at a high level.

Good German food. My friend did try a lighter, "healthy" dish and thought she should have gone traditional instead.

Prices are (now) pretty steep, but the quality is good and the taste is delicious. Pork schnitzel with a side dish (without salad, this has to be paid extra) > 21 € is already at the limit. Basically still recommended.

Overall, our Christmas party was very successful. The mulled wine reception was a great start, and the goose and the side dishes were really tasty. The service was attentive, but could have been a little more friendly. All in all, a very successful evening. Recommended!

Delicious food in a harmonious old ambience, the staff is very attentive.

It's not without reason that the Alt-Oberurseler Brauhaus is so well attended. You feel really comfortable here and are very well looked after by the staff. Everyone is totally on their toes. The ambience is simply special. We also really liked the fact that we could quickly start a conversation with the people sitting next to us. The scope of the menu is perfect for a brewery and, above all, you should also take a look at the specials. At Christmas time, for example, goose. The portions are large enough and even the side salads are well put together. Handkäs with music is recommended as a starter. In terms of taste, not only the food but also the beer impressed us. The Christmas goat tastes very good. Parking in the immediate area is a bit difficult, but you can adjust to that. A visit is definitely recommended.

Simple cuisine, nice surroundings

Today we went to the brewery with dear friends for a goose meal, followed by a tour of the premises (private). The mulled wine outside was also excellent. We felt very comfortable in the brewing room and the staff was absolutely super friendly and accommodating. Our friend, who hadn't been to the brewery yet, really enjoyed it and it certainly won't be his last time there.

Quaint inn, which is unfortunately becoming increasingly rare. We were here with a group for a cozy evening. Food, drink top! We had the goose menu for 4 people each, simply delicious. The goose is crispy and delicious. Dumplings and red cabbage exactly right and like they came from grandma's kitchen. Plus a cleverly baked baked apple with marzipan and great-tasting chestnuts. The home-brewed light and dark is extremely tasty and comes cool and fresh on tap. The service matched this impression perfectly, attentive but not intrusive. Simply harmonious with the restaurant and the area, authentic, you feel comfortable here. Hopefully see you again soon at the “Orcheler” brewery.

I went there without reservation at 12:00 noon today. The staff kindly arranged a table. Thank you very much. The food is served quickly, and the store’s signature dish, roasted pork knuckle, is well-deserved. We have eaten roasted pork knuckle five times in Munich and other places, and the one here is the best. The beer from the old brewery is certainly worth recommending. The other three dishes also tasted good. The bathroom is spacious and clean.

The Jägerschnitzel and the Frankfurter Schnitzel were both very good, spicy and crispy with great fried potato salad and the mustard note tasted very good The restaurant is quaint and cozy The young man from the service has a heart and a sense of humor that impressed us

Great food, delicious beers, friendly and fast service, reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere. What more could you want? Parking spaces and houses can be reached in 5 minutes.

Das Bier war lecker und die Gans saftig. Leider war der Rotkohl kalt, eine Ente klein und sehr trocken. Das Schnitzel wurde als schlecht eingestuft. Ein Gericht wurde falsch geliefert. Schuld war der Gast. Der Kaiserschmarrn war kalt und hart, wurde also nicht frisch angefertigt. Das Personal war und hilfsbereit, wirkte aber wenig kompetent und lösungsorientiert.
