Cheese spaetzle are served with coleslaw(!). Both come on one plate, so the spaetzle are swimming in the coleslaw. There's definitely room for improvement with these cheese spaetzle – they're nothing like the ones you get in the Alps.

Dear French friend, the restaurant isn't great, but I'm judging it by French standards. The food is decent and would warrant 3 stars, but because of the service, the rating drops to 2.

I was there for dinner and ordered the Maultaschen (ravioli) with spinach and ricotta filling. The food was really, really good! However, I felt the price was a bit too high for what I got. Otherwise, the atmosphere was super nice! :)

A very nice, cozy restaurant. We're from Bavaria ourselves and were very impressed by the Bavarian tapas selection. The three of us shared the amount shown in the photo. The dessert was also really delicious, and the service was excellent!

We visited the Alpenkantine Osterstraße on Friday lunchtime. First, there was a friendly welcome. Then there was very good advice and explanations of the dishes. This was unfortunately necessary because the menu is a bit difficult to decipher. But the very friendly waiter explained everything well. Thank you very much for that. The food was really delicious, especially since only one of the lunch dishes was available. The price and quality were right. A wonderful culinary experience. We'd gladly go back. The ambiance is functional. Well, we weren't meeting up for anything. After shopping, we just wanted a delicious meal. And that's what we got. Super friendly team.

I went there with a friend and ordered a goat cheese salad. The goat cheese was really good. Everything else in the salad annoyed me for €20, and then there was no variety in the salad, except for the iceberg lettuce, which I find really disappointing. The drinks were delicious. The service was there... but they didn't really seem interested in you.

We found the idea of southern German tapas very appealing! Here, you can try everything without having to choose a specific dish. Schnitzel, cheese platter, Maultaschen (swabian dumplings), dumplings, goat cheese... everything was delicious, and we were more than satisfied.

A truly fantastic food concept. I had the spaetzle bowl with schnitzel strips and was really impressed. I would have preferred the pea mash warm, or rather, I thought it would be warm, but I can really recommend the bowl. The cheese spaetzle were okay, not a hit. Really great for a lunchtime snack, but with a larger group like ours, it was actually very, very cramped. One real negative point: the menu says Kaiserschmarren without raisins. When I asked if it really was without raisins, she said, "It's sometimes like this, sometimes like that," which I don't really like. If it says it's without raisins, it really should be without. The service staff, however, was generally very accommodating and super friendly.

Super tasty food and very friendly staff, only the table was a bit small or you sit very close to the neighboring table. But absolutely recommended!

We were a group of parents with 3 little babies and they were really accommodating. They helped us park our trolleys outside (it's a bit narrow for more than one trolley) and let us take over a whole corner of the restaurant anyway! Only downside: there's no changing table in the WC. Service was friendly and quick, and I'd come back for another relaxed afternoon!

My girlfriend and I were the two of us in the cozy Alpine canteen. We've been meaning to stop by here for a long time. The location itself is beautifully designed and clean. We were also very happy to be able to choose a place ourselves. We chose the place in the large window so that we could also watch the Leite on the street or on the footpath. The service is friendly and quite quick. In any case, the dishes were tasty, but not a revelation. We would like to recommend the ginger spritz, which is really refreshing.

Unfortunately, the Alpine canteen has declined massively over the years. The menu becomes less interesting and the quality of the dishes is hardly there. The food tastes like it has too much fat or is oversalted. The ambience is also questionable. The chef listens to TikTok videos loudly, which drowns out the music in the dining room. Unfortunately it was the last time here.

We chose the variant with small portions and different dishes. The tables are very close together. During the week we got a place without a reservation. The Alpenkantine offers a modern interpretation of Austrian cuisine. However, the tables are very small and the dining area is generally a bit cramped. It's a bit difficult to have a conversation as the acoustics are quite bad. The food was very tasty, but what bothered us was that the cards were only available analogue when we asked, but then without drinks. Several of our orders were misunderstood, then only partially delivered and only when we asked was everything we ordered brought to the table. A great kitchen, but there is still some catching up to do in the restaurant.

We ate cheese spaetzle and schnitzel as well as Kaiserschmarren there yesterday and it tasted great. The atmosphere is very informal and the audience is mixed in terms of age. The service staff were very attentive and everything came to our table quickly. The restaurant was later completely booked.

I always enjoyed eating your schnitzel for lunch once a week. I paid for this (with a tip, I don't remember the exact prices): In spring 2024: €17 In summer 2024: 18€ In November 2024: €21 You will have your reasons for this price increase of almost 25%. Delicious food. I had the cucumber salad and the fried potatoes and for me it was just comfort food. The ginger spritz was fruity, not too sweet and refreshing. Fast service with a warm smile. I felt very comfortable! Sitting outside and enjoying a drink or food definitely has something to offer. I'll try it next time, after all there are blankets for the cold weather!

A slightly different concept! Restaurant always has two components: a) cuisine, b) service. I was there for lunch. a) Lunch "Maultaschen": not as 'pockets', but cut down from the roll, in vegetable stock, broth a little too little 'steam' in the sense of salt + pepper, which you can request, both in mills. Full marks because everything is fresh, hand-cut vegetables, crunchy herbs, absolutely flawless. One could object: "surprisingly small portion" (it won't fill you up), but then again for 7.50 euros that's not to be expected... the "small portion concept" only becomes apparent later. Even the subsequently booked - I think - 0.60 euros for Maultaschen "with meat" are actually 'a bit stupid' in the sense of 'shooting yourself in the foot' but they don't detract from the good quality and price/performance. The dish "Maultaschen" was advertised in handwriting on the outside table (at lunchtime), so my advice (am I even allowed to do that?): a sensible and well-meaning citizen expects a lunch dish... and Maultaschen are just "with meat" (priced in), that's it As a lunch dish it's a euro or two or x more expensive, but 1. full and 2. no "unexpected" subsequent bookings... that seems petty/small-minded and somewhat counteracts the image. a) because I wasn't full, I ordered the second lunch on the outside menu, "lentil stew". Full marks again, very tasty, hearty, warm, this time a really big portion (oof), fresh herbs, even cherry tomatoes (which were still in shape, so added late (decoratively)), fresh herbs again and two slices of baguette (also yummy). Great, creatively down-to-earth, like Grandma's, only a little more elegant. b) Service: very friendly, polite, accommodating. The concept is quite digital (e-ordering, e-paying possible), but use is not mandatory. I had fun, I successfully ordered the good espresso using my smartphone and the workflow worked. Invoice came via email. Chic interior, successful design, good location (U Bhf Osterstr). I would come again next time I visit HH.

I ordered a small version of the Kaiserschmarrn. Unfortunately it didn't taste good at all because it obviously wasn't fresh. It was hard, difficult to chew and, in terms of craftsmanship and taste, had nothing to do with a successful Kaiserschmarrn. All the sadder in a restaurant that calls itself 'Alpenkantine'. I pointed this out to the waitress. She agreed with me and recognized even from the appearance of the food (I couldn't finish it) that it wasn't fresh or good. Still no goodwill and the full amount including the failed meal had to be paid. That's not possible, although legally it is of course okay. It's a shame, especially since my friend's lentil stew was good. Unfortunately no recommendation

Very tasty dumplings and fresh food

To be honest, I'm surprised where so many 1 star reviews come from. I was super happy, as were the 5 people I was there with. The food was really very good and the portions were really fair. I didn't even get everything done, although that rarely happens to me. What needs to be highlighted is the service. The three employees on Friday were so courteous and nice that you felt really comfortable. People were happy to give a lot of tips. I'll definitely come back :)

Salmon was fried, which is not what you would expect from this kitchen, salad with lettuce roots... it was funny whether it was normal that there was lettuce on both plates with the roots still there with a bit of earth... no, it wasn't normal :D We asked if it was normal for salad with roots and soil to go to waste because it was the same with both plates. That's why I thought at first, wow, is that normal and asked about it and was told no and apologized that we weren't offered to exchange the food or get a discount if the salmon wasn't fried, it was soaked in oil in the pan . The first time in the Alpen Kantine. A friend recommended this to me and said you definitely have to try the goulash and the cheese spaetzle. Done done. To comment on it, I first ordered two small portions. Unfortunately I had to return the goulash because the meat was really tough. Maybe it wasn't braised long enough. After I asked what piece it was cut from, I was told from the shoulder. Shoulder isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's a very good piece from the thick bow, for example. The cheese spaetzle were actually quite tasty, but to be honest I couldn't taste the three types of cheese? My tip, a good, strong mountain cheese would be enough. But that's my opinion. The service was really attentive and nice. He kept asking how I liked it and whether I would like dessert. I said why not and decided on the apricot dumpling. When I cut open the apricot dumpling, I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a tiny piece of apricot in it and nothing else. The dumpling was swimming in butter, which was almost a little too much, but I ignored it. The dumpling itself was also very hard. They probably should have added a little more butter. But maybe it was frozen or in the fridge for too long because I don't think it was freshly made. Because the time probably won't be there. Unfortunately, we also saved a bit on the breadcrumbs. Unfortunately, I also had the dumpling returned. Unfortunately I didn't get any feedback as to why it is the way it is. I think this should be addressed and perhaps the chef could make an effort to come to the table no matter what I order, whether small or large, whether cheap or expensive, it doesn't matter. I can only say one thing. The wait staff who were there at the time were really, really polite, friendly and accommodating. I'll be happy to take another look at it in due course and order the same thing again. Until then a good time.

The two of us went to the Alpine canteen to eat and were greeted very warmly by the service :) After ordering quickly, the food came very quickly! We ordered both vegan dishes and meat dishes in tapas form and everything was beautifully presented and tasted really good! I personally have never seen typical dishes from the Alps in a vegan form and so delicious, and for anyone who likes this, the Alpine canteen is definitely worth a visit! 🫶🏼 Service 5/5, food 5/5, ambience “only” 4/5, there might still be a bit of warmth in there, but that is made up for by the warm service! We will definitely come back the next time we visit Hamburg.

We visited the Alpenkantine to enjoy the sun on Osterstrasse while having a little something to eat and drink. The ambience and service is excellent. We were welcomed very politely and everything was in a very neat and clean condition. The Kaiserschmarren seemed a little dry to us, but we know it from Austria to be a little fluffier. The apple strudel was also okay, but we felt it was missing something for the 5 stars.

Delicious southern German/Alpine cuisine. The versions as smaller tapas portions are great and you can try more or don't eat as full. Ambiance is good, you can make it a little more “comfortable”. Unfortunately, the dumplings weren't particularly tasty and were expensive for the portion. It didn't taste bad, but it didn't taste particularly great either. The schnitzel was good. The service was nice, but the drum & bass music was too loud, which wasn't very comfortable.

Unfortunately, the Alpine canteen is no longer as good as it used to be. The quality of the food has deteriorated and I don't like that you can only view the menu online, not to my taste! A pity!

Huge prices: 5.90 euros for a small piece of cake (carrotcake) is out of all proportion. Even if it were organic ingredients, high shop rent, etc. We're still talking about cake here... on Osterstrasse... I brought a friend's piece to help her recover. She rated the cake a 7/10. Among other things, there was too much powdered sugar on it. Given the price and size, I'd rather get something from the pastry chef in the future.

Overall it was ok, the food was not very seasoned (for our taste) and the ambience seemed a bit anonymous due to the ordering system. Rather high in price.

We have been there. Food was Solala e.g. tough schnitzel but a lot was missing on 2 plates. E.g. cranberries. The seltzer came in a large glass even though a bottle was ordered and tasted like “Sodamax” water! The best thing... You practically have to pay when you order with a credit card, which not everyone has! Never again!

We live right next to our favorite restaurant: The Alpenkantine. An absolute pleasure, not only from a culinary point of view, but also particularly outstanding is the incredibly friendly and courteous, lip-reading service, so to speak. Above all, there were enough service staff there...Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing and definitely didn't live up to its price. When the main course was brought to us shortly before 9 p.m., we were immediately asked whether we wanted to order dessert because the kitchen was about to close. Somehow inappropriate too. Overall, we were not satisfied and will therefore not be coming back.

Das Essen sieht sehr gut aus aber das Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln war sehr, sehr ölig mit durchschnittlichen Gwschmack und die Multaschen sind eher wie herzhafte Pfannkuchen zubereitet.

Sehr lecker und die Idee mit den Tapas ist einfach nur toll. Der Service ist richtig gut und die Mitarbeitenden sind sehr freundlich, obwohl viel los war. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Superlecker und toll angerichtet

Ich war wirklich enttäuscht von den beiden Knödel mit Blattspinat und Krautsalat und kann dieses Gericht nicht weiterempfehlen. Semmelknödel hart und staubtrocken, der Spinat schwamm in einer öligen klaren Soße, die beiden Radieschenscheiben auf dem Krautsalat schrumpelig und zu guter letzt, der Espresso lauwarm, wirklich schade und verbesserungswürdig.

Sehr leckeres Essen, super nette Bedienungen und eine schöne Atmosphäre. Ich war das zweite Mal hier und es war wieder richtig nett.
