Die Auswahl an Frühstücksspeisen ist gut. Seltsam ist allerdings, dass der Kaffee, nicht einmal der einfache, nicht inklusive ist. Außerdem gibt es nur einen Orangensaft pro Person, serviert in einem kleinen Sektglas.

Wir sind Stammgäste in dieser Brasserie und haben die Qualität des Essens und den Service immer sehr geschätzt. Leider waren wir dieses Mal von den Portionsgrößen sehr enttäuscht. Ich bestellte eine Chicken Poke Bowl für etwa 18 €, und sie enthielt nur drei winzige panierte Hähnchenstücke. Wirklich nur drei winzige Stückchen, sodass wir uns fragten, ob in der Küche ein Fehler passiert war. Die Teller meiner Freunde waren nicht großzügiger. Wir sprachen das Personal darauf an, das sehr freundlich und verständnisvoll reagierte und uns ein kleines Stück Kuchen anbot – eine nette Geste. Es ist schade, denn wir kamen früher gerne hierher, aber angesichts des Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnisses werden wir leider nicht wiederkommen. Wir waren auch überrascht, das Restaurant fast leer vorzufinden, da es normalerweise sehr voll ist.

für ein Eistee sechs Euro zu bezahlen finde ich ja voll okay aber ist dann zu bekommen und es schmeckt nur nach Wasser ist schade !

Ich war heute mit meiner hoch schwangeren Frau da, der Laden war so gut wie leer, trotzdem wurden wir sogar nachdem wir uns nach 30min. an der Theke bemerkbar gemacht haben vom Personal, dass hinter der Bar steht und nur mit dem Handy beschäftigt ist halbherzig mit einem "ich komme gleich" abgewimmelt nach weitern 15 Minuten haben wir die Gaststätte verlassen, dabei wurden wir teilweise ausgelacht!!! Ein absolutes No Go, ich ging da eigentlich gerne hin, aber nach dieser Erfahrung war es das letzte mal. Es gibt weitaus bessere und freundliche Gastronomien in Saarbrücken. Absolut keine Empfehlung!

Ein netter Ort für Kaffee und Getränke. Das Essen ist nicht so gut. Der Service kann ziemlich langsam sein. Die Atmosphäre ist aber angenehm und es bietet Platz für größere Gruppen.

Auffällig war, dass andere Gäste deutlich besser behandelt wurden als wir. Dies ist leider nicht das erste Mal, dass ich so etwas hier erlebe, was den Eindruck erweckt, dass es sich nicht um einen Einzelfall handelt. Ich hoffe, dass die Geschäftsleitung dieses Problem ernst nimmt und für einen respektvollen und gleichberechtigten Umgang mit allen Gästen sorgt.

Waren vom Chef eingeladen und überrascht von dem Essen daß ER bestellt hatte (Variationen von Fisch) sehr gut zubereitet. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Der Sonntagsbrunch ist jeden Cent wert. Neben dem leckeren Frühstück, welches immer frisch aufgefüllt wird, ist der Service ein weiterer Grund für einen gemütlichen Sonntag Vormittag dort zu verbringen. Eine Vorabreservierung ist zu empfehlen.

Ein sehr gutes Lokal. Wir hatten von allem etwas samt Vorspeise und Hauptgang. Das Essen war hervorragend!!!! Besonders hervorheben möchte ich das Rib-eye Steak. Wir hatten es Medium-Rare bestellt und so kam es auch an den Tisch. Schön rauchig vom Geschmack wirklich großartig! Zudem war die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam und sehr freundlich 😊!! Können das Alex in Saarbrücken sehr empfehlen!

Ich kann das Restaurant ALEX in Saarbrücken wärmstens empfehlen. Es ist ein wunderschönes, modernes und zugleich einladendes Lokal. Die Speisekarte bietet eine große Auswahl an Gerichten und Menüs, darunter viele hochwertige, traditionelle deutsche Spezialitäten. Die Portionen sind großzügig und der Service freundlich. Reservieren Sie unbedingt, besonders in der Hauptsaison!

Ich habe selten mal eine Toilette vorgefunden, die so unglaublich stark nach abgestandenen Urin gerochen hat. Über alles andere kann man streiten, aber das ist untragbar und hat mir den Appetit geraubt….

Hallo! Heute war ich mit meiner Frau drin. Essen hat super geschmeckt. Der Bediener war anscheinend überfordert. Da kamen die Leute rein, er hat sie abgewiesen, obwohl frei Plätze da waren. Es ist schon merkwürdig. Dann hat meine Frau Cappuccino bestellt nach 20 Minuten war immer noch Fehlanzeige. Beim Bezahlen hatten wir kein Trinkgeld gegeben, obwohl wir immer ziemlich gut drauf zahlen.🤷‍♂️

Wir haben uns entschieden den Laden nach 15Minuten wieder zu verlassen weil wir bei nahezu keinem Betrieb nicht wahrgenommen wurden. Die Servicekräfte sind an Unaufmerksamkeit nicht zu überbieten. Es ereignete sich am 26.01. 20:15Uhr

Schöne Ambiente, insbesonders super für große Gruppen. Ich bin regelmäßig dort für Meetups. Essen ist okay, Getränke wie Cocktails sind sehr gut.

++++Update ++++ Diese Woche waren wir wieder vor Ort und es spielte sich die gleiche Situation ab. Diesmal sagte der junge Mann er möchte nicht so weit laufen weshalb wir wieder an einen kleinen Tisch sollten. Sind dann umgedreht und gegangen. Geändert hat sich nichts. Wir kommen nicht wieder. Wir wollten mit unserem Sohn Frühstücken im Alex. Allerdings wurde uns als Begrüßung schon gesagt das der Kellner alleine ist und wir deshalb an keinen großen Tisch durften sprich nur die rechte Seite an diese kleinen Runden Tische. Für uns leider nicht machbar mit Kind ( Platzprobleme ). Sind das ohne Kommentar aus dem Lokal und würden uns wünschen das sich dort etwas ändert.

Ich bin seit Jahren Stammgast und hatte noch nie eine schlechte Erfahrung. Das ganze Team ist mega freundlich und der Service geht immer schnell. Hier gibt’s meiner Meinung nach den besten Espresso Martini der Stadt ✨

Das Frühstücksbuffet an sich ist echt top. Auch der Service ist sehr nett und äußerst bemüht. Leider ist der Kaffee bzw. Die Kaffee-Milch-Getränke ungenießbar. Mir ist schon klar, dass man nicht immer einen wirklichen Barista an die Maschine stellen kann, aber wenigstens die Basics könnte man dem Personal vermitteln. Z.B. dass Milch ab einer gewissen Temperatur verbrennt und dann einfach nur widerlich schmeckt…….

Wir haben das Lokal mit 4 Personen besucht. Es war an diesem Tag viel vor reserviert. Wir würden nach einer kurzen Wartezeit von einem sehr freundlichen und aufmerksamen jungen Mann bedient. Die Bestellung wurde schnell umgesetzt und die Speisen waren sehr lecker. Ich hatte eine Quiche mediterran. Diese war sehr lecker, für mich leider zu klein. Das Salat Bouquet, welches dabei war, war liebevoll angerichtet und hatte ein super leckeres Dressing.

Gewöhnliches, industriell gefertigtes Essen. Die Preise sind angemessen, aber der Service ist ziemlich langsam.

Ich bin vom Kundenservice hier begeistert. Alle sind immer so freundlich und selbst bei vollem Restaurant erstaunlich schnell. Das Essen ist fantastisch, die Auswahl erstklassig! Absolut empfehlenswert.

Bewertung: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Am 24.12.2025 war ich gemeinsam mit einer Freundin in diesem Restaurant. Leider waren wir mit dem Service sehr unzufrieden. Das Verhalten des Personals war unprofessionell und unfreundlich. Beim Bezahlen mit einem neuen 100-Euro-Schein wurde dieser angeblich auf seine Echtheit geprüft – jedoch ohne jedes Prüfgerät. Stattdessen wurde der Schein mit bloßen Händen abgetastet, mit einem 50-Euro-Schein verglichen und fälschlicherweise behauptet, es fehle ein Sicherheitsstreifen auf der linken Seite, obwohl ein solcher Streifen bei der neuen 100-Euro-Banknote dort gar nicht vorhanden ist. Hätte das Personal ein entsprechendes Prüfgerät verwendet, wäre sofort klar gewesen, dass der Schein echt ist und dass der Verdacht unbegründet war. Statt eines professionellen Umgangs wurde eine unangenehme Situation geschaffen. Darüber hinaus wurde ich vor anderen Gästen offensichtlich vom gesamten Personal diskutiert, was ich als sehr respektlos empfand. Dieses Verhalten hat mir den gesamten Abend verdorben. Von einem Restaurant erwarte ich nicht nur gutes Essen, sondern auch fachkundigen, respektvollen und diskreten Service. Aufgrund dieser Erfahrung kann ich das Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen.

Hello, we dined at your restaurant on Friday, December 19th. Unfortunately, our aperitif order went wrong right from the start. The restaurant was quite noisy overall, which made it all the more important for the staff to be particularly attentive. Three out of the four drinks we ordered arrived incorrectly – a truly frustrating start to the evening and made us feel uneasy for the rest of the night. Luckily, another server came to our table shortly afterward to address the issue and make our evening more enjoyable. The table was a bit cramped, and she immediately offered to add another table for us. The employee who took such good care of us is named Lea – and I want to emphasize this: she saved our evening. Lea was attentive, customer-friendly, and very professional. Without her help, I would have only given the service two stars. Thanks to her efforts, I'm giving four stars – deducting one star for the first server's inattentiveness. Lea took the time to listen to us, made sure we felt comfortable, and even went through the entire bill with us at the end to ensure everything was clear. As a customer, it's very pleasant to have someone like that. Thank you again, Lea. I sincerely hope your skills are properly recognized by the team. PS: One more thing: I've been coming here for three years now, and unfortunately, it's never been possible to get a Ricard Pastis as an aperitif. We ate there yesterday with two people. The cheeseburger is amazing. So delicious...highly recommended! An incredibly great smoky aroma.... The chicken burger wasn't quite what I expected in terms of the meat; it wasn't cut optimally and was too thick, resulting in a moderately tough end. A shame. It also wasn't spicy as advertised on the menu... The combination of toppings is quite interesting, there's really no other way to describe it...you have to be into it. I personally enjoyed it, but I definitely wouldn't order the chicken burger again. I thought the price for the fries was outrageous. Over €5 for a handful of fries! They were really great, no question, but definitely overpriced and far too little for the money. At that price, I would have expected ketchup/mayo, etc., without an extra charge. We went to Alex last night for our Christmas party with colleagues and had a truly wonderful evening. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the food was absolutely delicious. I would especially like to commend the young man who served our large group. Despite the large number of customers, he served everything quickly, attentively, and flawlessly. He was consistently friendly, helpful, and professional – I would give him a full five stars for that. Thank you for the excellent service! We will definitely be back.

Yes, definitely! I was there with my son. Very friendly and fast service, the buffet/brunch was super delicious 😋, and in addition to "traditional" dishes, there were also some unusual, new dishes. Top notch and praise to the entire team 👍👍👍👌

I had a delicious brochette dish and a roll with herb spread as a starter. So, vegans can also enjoy a delicious meal here. But a delicious schnitzel or other meat dish is also available, of course! Just go for it.

I've been coming to the Alex on Saarstrasse regularly for about five years. But things are slowly getting better. On October 22, 2025, there was the third or fourth price increase in the last two years. The prices have now reached a level that is clearly too high. It may not matter to walk-in customers, but as regular customers, you should think differently. The service has also been significantly worse for about half a year. What a shame.

You walk in and feel at home. Very cozy, with a very friendly welcome. The service is quick and friendly, the food is delicious, and the drinks are good too. The portion sizes are generous; we were really full. The prices are absolutely reasonable. If I ever come back to Saarbrücken, I'll definitely go back.

Service is always friendly. The breakfast buffet is extensive, with something for almost everyone. For my muesli, I felt some flaxseed, sesame, raisins, walnuts, almonds, or hazelnuts were missing; then it would have been perfect. A glass of orange nectar is included in the breakfast buffet, which is available until 1 p.m. Saturdays. Yesterday's price was €15.40 plus drinks. The restrooms are always very warm because there are no windows. The ventilation might be too weak. There are a few parking spaces on the street, which always seem to be occupied by long-term parkers. Otherwise, there are two parking garages nearby (Staatstheater and Galeria Karstadt), which are quite expensive. The location is GOOD if you sit outside in nice weather.

Another very good Alex, great menu. Very quiet when we were there on a Monday night. One problem, at about 8.15 pm they turn the lights down so low that it's a struggle to see what your eating. We asked if they could turm them up a little but we're told it's company policy for " the ambiance " I always thought that the customer was right ??

I was invited there for brunch on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Since I'm not the kind of person who likes breakfast and didn't want much, I ordered a small French breakfast for €6.90 instead of the €20.90 brunch. Then the waitress came over to tell me that they don't serve this breakfast on Sundays, only the brunch. So I declined, because I don't see the point in paying almost €21 for a roll. Perhaps they should offer people who don't want much for breakfast an option to order something. The cheese pretzel I tried there was completely dried out, by the way. You can't complain about the ambiance, but they definitely lost me as a customer, and unfortunately, I can't recommend them to anyone. At least they let me watch the others having breakfast instead of being accommodating and making me a small breakfast. So they didn't make any money from me except for a drink. A smart businessman would have acted differently!!!

I regularly go to this café with my friends, and we often spend our girls' nights there. The atmosphere is very nice and usually pleasantly quiet – depending on how busy it is. The service is friendly and attentive, even if it can be a bit challenging when it's busy. The food is good, but some of the portions could be a bit more generous. The drinks are absolutely top-notch – nothing to complain about. I would especially like to highlight the cakes and desserts: simply heavenly! In my opinion, they have the best cake anywhere. One small negative point: The restrooms could sometimes be a bit more clean. All in all, though, it's a very nice café where you can relax and enjoy yourself, and we enjoy visiting again and again.

The ambiance and the food are very good, it's a shame that they cut back on the quality of the service staff (young waitress today, August 30, 2025, 4 p.m.) She was inattentive and rude (if you want your food, you have to hold the plate yourself... then she put the plate with the food on our table and threw all the menus with it on the floor, then said "whatever," turned around and walked away). We had to ask at the counter twice if a server could come to our table to take our dessert order. Unfortunately, this took about 25 minutes after a colleague "called" for her.

Nice waiters Food: I had a baked potato, which was very tasty. The cream was also very tasty. The vegetables were very oily. A friend had a burger, which was okay. Another friend had the bun with mozzarella and tomato, along with fries. She found it unloving and uninspiring. According to her, there was no spread or anything similar on it, so it was just dry. So I would go again, but I would definitely stick with the baked potato.

The veggie burger was good, but a bit dry. Still good, but leaning toward very good. The fries are excellent. Overall, the dishes aren't exactly cheap, especially the sides, but prices have increased everywhere. You can study the menu in advance and then see for yourself. Overall, everything was quite positive, and I'll definitely be back.

Breakfast buffet full of delicious treats! Fresh, clean, and varied. Everything's there. The only downside: coffee is an additional charge! Two cups of coffee will set you back over €20. It's a shame, considering coffee is inexpensive to make, and an all-inclusive price could really attract a crowd!

The raw vegetable garnish of carrot, tomato, and cucumber in my "favorite salad" was completely dried out, and the tomatoes were completely mushy. It looked as if the vegetables had already been cut the day before and then stored somewhere uncovered. Inedible, unfortunately, ripe for the organic waste bin. In the end, all that remained of the salad were the green leaves with the dressing. Along with the oily baguette slices. I informed the waitress, who then commented that she would inform the kitchen. And it was gone. If I hadn't been in such a hurry, I would have certainly sent the entire salad back and waited for a fresh one. Furthermore, the service staff is quite understaffed, and you wait a long time for someone to come by, whether to order or pay.

You have to visit this place and spend some time there with a small drink or a meal. There is also something to see when you sit outside under the trees. The staff is great whether it is in the morning or in the evening. I go there often.

We've been here several times. The food is slowly getting to the point of being poor. Salads without dressing. I reordered, but the wait was long. The steak was only about 150 grams. I could spend my money on good food elsewhere.

We had breakfast at Alex and were more than disappointed. The sausage tasted like the cheapest of the cheap. The rolls were tough, the salads were hard, and the pesto was so bitter. Unfortunately, a complete deception... In our opinion, there are definitely better places for the same price, or even cheaper.

The food and drinks were delicious, with one exception. The seating is very comfortable, although the cobwebs in the corners of the windows could do with clearing them. Unfortunately, the service was not great. The drinks for the starter and main course only arrived after we had almost finished our food. They also could have asked before bringing the main course. We had just finished the starter and then it was already moving on. After the main course, no one came to our table; we had to run to the bar to summon a waiter. And then it took a very long time for dessert to arrive. Nevertheless, we will come back because the food was delicious and the place is cozy!

Cozy, but with room for improvement The ambiance is pleasant and invites you to linger – especially when it's not too busy. The staff is very friendly, but unfortunately they rarely come by, even when it's quiet. I went there for breakfast: The selection on the menu was quite limited. If you're not very hungry, you really only have two options – either a small breakfast with a croissant, some jam, and a small hot drink for around €7, or go straight to the buffet for just under €16. For a small breakfast, I would have liked a bit more choice or flexibility.

It is located opposite the Saarbrecken Opera House and is open until midnight, so I went there several times after the opera. They probably serve Küche until the last minute, so even if you go around 11pm, you won't be asked to only have a drink. A schnitzel (classic) and 0.5 liters of beer cost just €20. I'd say it's a very reasonable price. However, the pasta is surprisingly expensive, so I recommend the schnitzel.

I had plastic packaging in my food. Probably the plastic packaging from the lamb's lettuce. Which suggests the lettuce wasn't washed. A little more care would have been good.

I thought about changing my rating for a long time, but I'm still very annoyed weeks later. We have been guests at Alex for a long time, even during Corona. So definitely almost every week. We know that you have to wait quite a long time until someone comes to place your order or when you want to pay. The staff also changed after this time (not very positively). But the last visit really left me speechless. We were outside, there wasn't much going on for a Saturday. We waited 10 minutes for anyone to come. We were there for probably an hour, during which time no one came to our table to ask if we wanted to order anything else, and eye contact was aggressively avoided. In general, our site was very poorly served, which other guests also noticed. I then went in and said to the young lady that we were already waiting to pay. The answer I got was that I didn't need to be so snippy with her, her colleague was outside and she would be there shortly. Of course she didn't come! Another 15 minutes later I told her colleague that we would finally like to pay, which took another 5 minutes because he informed his colleague. Not everyone is that unfriendly, but after that we decided not to come anymore. The anger over such behavior is too great.

Churros & Ice Cream The dish did not correspond to the description on the menu - neither in terms of taste nor presentation. I expected something different and was disappointed

I didn't like it because the employee put garbage in our blueberry strausel cake and that wasn't good.

Went there today, ordered schnitzel. When I go to a restaurant, I expect the menu to reflect what is given to me. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case at all. The card is more beautiful than what you get. The schnitzel is dry and made in the deep fryer. Unfortunately the fries were soaked in the salad dressing. I can also cook ready-made products myself at home. With 2 schnitzels and around 10 fries, the combination is not appealing. In the future, it would be better to have an extra salad and a few more fries on the plate. The schnitzel was then fried in the pan. The food was only worth €5, but cost €17.10. All I can say about the breakfast buffet is that it looked better than what I had on my plate.

Unfortunately, the pleasant French flair and the well-functioning service in this restaurant cannot hide the lack of quality of the food. The pepper steak for €29.90, although ordered medium, was small, dry and very stringy. The pepper sauce and the salad dressing tasted very much like artificial flavor enhancers. The tarte flambée was also totally over-seasoned. Unfortunately this has nothing to do with French cuisine...

It is very loud inside the restaurant. The Sunday brunch is clearly too expensive for the fact that no drinks are included. You can't take small breakfasts from the menu on Sundays, the waitress told us when we wanted to order the French breakfast.

The map is quite large and inexpensive. It was very loud and warm so the door was always open and it smelled of cigarettes. The restaurant is very large and has a large outdoor area. Service was slow and we had to call someone for everything. The drinks and desserts were not served at the same time, so some were served 10 minutes later and at the same table. The food was ok but the schnitzel was quite dry without the sauce. You had to pay extra for the sauces like mayonnaise. The churros were quite greasy because they were still partly raw. The taste of the food could be improved a bit and the service could be even faster and more optimized.

Very expensive for frozen!! Don't speak a word of French even though there are a lot of French customers! Very slow service! Ketchup and mayonnaise charged

A very long waiting time for the service outside. I just asked for 3 positions from their menu and all three of them were not available anymore (it’s Saturday, middle of the day).

The food was okay, the prices reasonable. The service was attentive.

We actually really enjoy eating here. Today I reserved a table for five people. Three wanted to order the Sunday brunch, two had dinner dates in the evening and only wanted the small French breakfast with coffee, croissants and jam. The restaurant manager directed us to two small tables for two in the middle of the room; five plates and five cups would never have fit on them. He then reluctantly put three small round tables together for us. When we wanted to order, we were told that the small French breakfast was not available on Sunday and that it was on the menu without any restrictions was a misprint. We were not offered any other alternative for the two “less eaters”. We didn't feel like continuing to argue with the unfriendly restaurant manager and left again.
