I celebrated my birthday today and had a wonderful evening thanks to the great service (saba). She is a super sweet, personable and attentive service person with a permanent smile on her face. Unfortunately, you rarely see something like that these days. Food was great! A visit is worth it!

We are usually there for breakfast on Saturdays and so far it has always been a complete pleasure. The ambience and selection from the buffet are simply brilliant. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Alex.

I have been to this café twice so far, and unfortunately, some of their staff behave very rudely — both when entering and while taking orders. They have no understanding of customer service principles and seem completely uninformed about how to treat customers. They feeling treated me and a tourist who was with me very poorly, and it gave us a terrible. Their behavior was inappropriate and far from the standards of proper conduct and civility expected in Germany. I do not recommend anyone to visit this place at all. I've been to this cafe twice so far, and unfortunately some of the employees behave very rudely — both when entering and when ordering. They have no idea about customer service and don't seem to know how to deal with customers at all. They treated me and a tourist who accompanied me very badly which made us feel really bad. Their behavior was inappropriate and far from the standards of behavior and civility expected in Germany. I absolutely recommend no one to visit this place.

Food varied but nothing really remarkable. But all in all quite okay

Actually very good, now a bit expensive in my opinion. A bit uncomfortable when you sit at the tables next to the toilets. Every now and then a hint of scented stones.

Alex on a cold winter day after visiting a museum was a lot of fun: trendy food and drink menu, nice atmosphere, super friendly service in a great location on the Saar. What more could you want? Gladly again!

Went there for breakfast, it was delicious and varied

Very rude staff. Rip-off because of vegetarian dish and I wasn't informed about it. I had to pay €5 more. In addition, part of the dish was forgotten. After we reported it we had to wait forever for the right dish and then it was cold.

We have been waiting a whole year for guests to go to this restaurant. We booked a table in advance. We were given a walk-through table where the waiters and kitchen staff jumped over our heads and hit my chair every time. We asked for another table. They provided it to us - opposite the front door. Everyone who came in could immediately hang their scarf on me. It's coming from the street, it's cold. We complained to the waiter why they didn’t give us a table in the room where it was almost empty, and near the window, and not on the aisle. They still gave me a table in that room, and it would have been better if they hadn’t given me a table. We were not given a table near the window (although there were three free tables near the window). The staff realized that we didn’t like walk-through tables and seated us at a walk-through table right next to the toilet. It smelled terrible. There was a long wait for the dishes. The food was still delicious, but the smell of the toilet 🤢Afterwards I ordered a hot drink, hot mules, as in the picture (see photo), and they brought something hot in a mug, without any serving. I asked, where are all the berries? To which I was told that due to the holidays, they were not purchased. When asked to call the owner of the establishment, the staff replied that the boss had been notified about the situation of the toilet and uncleanliness, but due to a lack of staff, they could not take action today. We visited "Alex" twice in one day. First and last time. LG Olga

The food is average, expensive. No English menu. The waiter went home and forgot about us. I don't want to come back here anymore.

Christmas Eve breakfast was delicious. Service was very accommodating. Only the table in front of the toilet entrance wasn't that fragrant.

We really enjoy being here. The staff has always been very friendly. The selection is large and there is something for everyone. Always happy to have breakfast on days off.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We were there on New Year's Eve. I enjoyed the food very much. Only criticism was that the sweet potato fries were drowned in sauce. I prefer them crispy. Service, yes, but there was a lot going on.

The facility is really starting to get run down. Some of the toilets are dark, have no toilet seat and hygiene products and towels are not stocked. The mirrors and wall coverings are dilapidated, broken and unsightly. This urgently needs to be renovated. Service is always very nice, but waiting times are still far too long for food.

We had a very nice lunch. A bit of wait and good we booked before. But food was really nice (in particular the burger) and the staff is really welcoming and helpful

The cocktails were delicious, but unfortunately the waiting time of 1 hour 30 minutes for a main course at 2 p.m. was unacceptable. The taste of the food was ok, the meat was on point, but the steak wasn't yet 150 g. According to the menu 220 g, a ribeye was even ordered with 300 g, which was incorrectly bonged.

Although we had a reservation, the table was in the middle of the area where the service staff kept bumping into us. We got another table right in front of the toilet entrance. Unbelievable smell. After eating I had to go to the toilet, which I would have preferred to avoid 🤢 When I asked for the bill I asked if the manager was there and I was told he was there this morning. Then I spoke to the waitress about the miserable condition of the toilet, they told me there was nothing they could do because no one cleans it on public holidays. The managing director knows about it. It's unbelievable that nothing is done for several days. I don't want to show the photo of the second toilet here (there was a lot of brown in the white).

An excellent restaurant, perfect for brunch, lunch or an afternoon coffee. The diverse menu offers something for every taste, with original and delicious flavors. One of my most beautiful discoveries was the carrot tart – a real treat!

I was in this cafe recently and wanted to have a coffee with friends. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't have. The employee said that the cafe was full, even though there were many seats available. It was disappointing to see that two guests behind us arrived without a reservation and a seat was still found for them. This gave the impression that the allocation of places was not handled fairly. I hope the cafe handles situations like this better in the future.

A great breakfast for a really great price. Even on Christmas Eve normal prices for breakfast. The service is courteous and always there. We would be happy to come back at any time.

Yesterday we were there for the first time and unfortunately also the last time... food didn't taste good at all... cesar wrap didn't taste like anything... fries weren't fresh either... side salad is probably a joke as small as it is ...toilets totally dirty and smelly...

Been here for breakfast for the first time. Everything is first class and the young man who served us gets huge praise. It couldn't be better. I told him too! There were four of us and we will definitely come back

Food was very tasty. Service at lunchtime is also great. However, you could put a little more emphasis on cleaning. The lampshades were full of flies and the floor wasn't particularly clean either. Otherwise it was a delicious visit

First and last time I will eat here...I started with a "bruschetta" appetizer which was royally poor, already the presentation did not tempt me, the tomatoes were out of place (dripping from the bread), too bad I I didn't take a photo. As for the taste, no taste, no olive oil or even garlic. In fact ridiculous and shameful For the price 6.10 e... disappointed and never again. To avoid... move on

“Hot” chocolate please!!! If I pay €4.90 for a cocoa then it should be served hot, not lukewarm. After the complaint we were brought a “warm cocoa”… unfortunately not hot. It also tasted watery, is it even made with milk or water? Price performance is definitely not right here. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambience wasn't nice, especially in the evening (8 p.m.) some music would be nice and the lighting would be dimmed a bit, the lighting was set very bright.

Have been here for breakfast several times and, as always, are very impressed. Large selection, very cozy and very nice staff. Saba in particular is always very polite, courteous and always in a good mood.

We had a Christmas party there with our company and had brunch. Nobody was happy... there are better brunch options in Saarbrücken for the price. It's a shame... it used to be very good.

I was just there with my children to have something to eat. I would particularly like to mention the extremely nice service from the very friendly and attentive employee, Saba. Thank you for that!

Chicken schnitzel was frozen schnitzel, I wouldn't need it again. Food was only lukewarm. Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was also cozy.

We were there for breakfast. Both drank a warm white chocolate. It's sad to charge €5.10 for it when it just tastes like warm milk. No trace of white chocolate. When the service person asked if everything was ok and we said the drinks were not satisfactory. We just carried on as if we hadn't said anything. Too bad. At least you could have asked what was wrong.

The breakfast buffet at Alex Saarbrücken is always a highlight and, for me, is one of the best addresses in the city. The selection is diverse and offers something for every taste - from oven-fresh baked goods to savory dishes and sweet treats. Particularly noteworthy are the baked goods, which not only appear fresh, but are actually of the best quality and absolutely fresh from the oven - something that is unfortunately often missing from the competition and is a big plus here. The selection of drinks also leaves nothing to be desired, and the cappuccino is a real pleasure: perfectly prepared, creamy and aromatic - a wonderful addition to the rich breakfast. In addition to the high quality of the food and drinks, the Alex also impresses with a quiet and cozy atmosphere. Whether alone, as a couple or in a group – you can start the day here in a relaxed environment. The service is equally commendable: friendly, attentive and always striving to provide guests with a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Even when there are larger crowds, the staff remains professional and cordial. All in all, a place that perfectly combines quality, service and ambience. Absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to start the day relaxed and enjoyable!

Die Kellner sind kalt und hochmütig und gehen an unserem Tisch vorbei, ohne unsere Bestellung entgegenzunehmen, obwohl wir schon über eine Stunde warten. Wir hätten es verstehen können, wenn das Restaurant voll wäre, aber wenn sie Zeit haben, sich hinter der Bar zu unterhalten, ist es eine Schande, nicht ein Mindestmaß an Service in Anspruch zu nehmen. Die Toiletten waren sehr dreckig und stinkend

If you're French, you're not here, you don't have to worry about accueilli normally. C’est dommage parce je pense que le restaurant fonctionne aussi grâce aux clients frontaliers… The products served are good and plentiful, but the service was mediocre and very slow. The waiters are cold and haughty and walk past our table without taking our order even though we have been waiting for over an hour. We could have understood if the restaurant was full but when they have time to chat behind the bar it's a shame not to receive a minimum level of service. The toilets were very dirty and smelly We arrived on November 18th at 7pm.

Nice evening, It can't be that less than half of the dessert menu isn't there. I was looking forward to a delicious waffle with ice cream but unfortunately there was none of that. Am very disappointed. Don't come here anymore

Das Ambiente ist zum Wohlfühlen. Die Getränke u. das Essen sind schmackhaft. Der Kaffee ist meist leider nur warm. Nicht heiss. Das Bedienungspersonal ist meist angenehm freundlich. Leider zum Teil aber hochnäsig u. frech. (deutsche weibl. Bedienung). Leider immer die gleiche Person. Aber wir gehen gerne hin. Auch mit der Familie.

Unfortunately very unfriendly, ordered a table for 8 people over the phone, received confirmation, and then was turned away at the agreed time, in a very unfriendly manner and without apology!! I don't need something so unfriendly!! Just one star, since you have to give one!

Food was very tasty (baked potato with chicken). Unfortunately, our original waitress devoted herself entirely to a women's table opposite, and at some point even sat down there for a while (??). The colleague then served us perfectly. Nice atmosphere, I like going to Alex.

The breakfast buffet had everything you needed, it was replenished regularly, there was nothing to complain about.

Service was very nice, drinks were ok, only the passion fruit juice spritzer could have used more passion fruit juice. Good 4 stars so far. Now to the food: crispy schnitzel with onions on top and fried potatoes. Fried potatoes were not crispy but soft and fatty. The wrong type of potato was probably used here. The schnitzel was probably made in the deep fryer and not in the pan. The fried eggs were ok. However, for just under €20 I would have expected more quality. Unfortunately only 2 stars. The tarte flambée came 5 minutes later than the other dishes. It's not so bad now. But in terms of taste and appearance, it wasn't really that good either. My wife had a pasta dish that she wasn't thrilled with either. My daughter had a chicken burger, which she really liked. 5 stars here. But since I rate the entire experience here, it is only 2-3 stars in total. I was very annoyed because as a couple with 3 children we don't go out to eat that often due to the increased prices for restaurants. And then paid €113 and left unsatisfied. That won't happen to us there again. And another tip: the waitress wiped the tables, but wiped everything onto the floor instead of into a container. That's unprofessional.

Everything was excellent! The service was excellent, the staff extremely friendly and the food was delicious as always - the new menu offers wonderful options. Really very tasty! I can only recommend it.

We regularly go to Alex for brunch or just to eat. Today, however, had the worst experience. The steak was not medium rare but English fried. After a third of the steak was eaten, I noticed that it was quite bloody inside. The steak went back and the boss personally came to lecture us. “The steak was 80 percent eaten and then it became clear that it was too bloody or medium rare instead of medium (actually it was English fried). And before you eat the steak, you should cut it in half to see what the cooking point is here. I want my guests to be happy, so choose a drink or coffee and it will be on the house.” You should already know your portion size, as 80 percent of it was not consumed. I haven't made a big deal about it here. We then had the bill come and skipped dessert and other drinks. If you're a successful restaurant, you can probably miss out on this lost money. At the end, a bottle of water was deducted from the bill because there apparently were discrepancies with the kitchen. It's a shame, we always enjoyed coming, several times a month. But unfortunately not anymore. Appointments that were already reserved were canceled.

Simply special, 😄 in every way. The breakfast buffet, the selection of food and the ambience are fantastic. My favorite waitress Saba is not only beautiful but also particularly sweet. An absolute must for everyone 💕

The worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant! I complained about a burger that was missing 3 (!!!) ingredients compared to what was listed on the menu. What happened next is outrageous, downright outrageous. The shift management was rude and rude to me and I was denied the new burger that had already been promised (since the other one had already gone back and forth between the kitchen and our place three times). Just don't go there! We'll never do it again and I can only warn against it!

I sat outside there for almost 25 minutes today and wasn't served. Despite making eye contact with the operator, nothing happened. I then left with nothing accomplished. Of course I spoke to the waitress as I left to point this out to her. She said she was new and overwhelmed. Service is still different. I was very annoyed.

Normally we are always very satisfied at "Alex", no matter which city! Always a guarantee for good food, friendly people and a great atmosphere. We are regular customers in our hometown!!! But what we experienced today was not only very disappointing for us, but simply unprofessional! First, ingredients are missing from the burger. Then you wait a long time for the waitress to notice this, who then seems quite annoyed. After the explanation came from the kitchen that the ingredients were out, the now cold burger was offered to be remade. We accepted this offer. Whereupon another waitress came and asked why the burger needed to be new if it was tasty. She was very rude and unfriendly. When we wanted to speak to the boss, she said she was shift manager and there was no new burger. With the words: "There is no new burger, you pay and never come back." That just doesn't work at all!!! Basically banned from the house because people are justified in criticizing them.

The tables are a bit too small at dinner.

Das Buffet war super lecker aber der Preis20,90 € zu hoch früher gab's den Kaffee zum brunch und ein Glas Sekt das muss man jetzt alles extra zahlen das kleine Wasser 3.80 € eine kleine Cola 4.30 finde ich doch hochgegriffen Toilette unsauber da müsste mal öfter jemand danach sehen hatteeinen tisch für 8 Personen extra vorbestellt an unserem Tisch sassen dann noch 4 Personen hab gefragt nach einem anderen tisch da war noch viel frei bekamm aber gesagt das geht nicht wäre reserviert aber dertisch nach dem ich gefragt habe war noch frei als wir 4 Std.später gegangen waren da müsste mann mal mehr Abstand lassen wollte nicht unbedingt mitbekommen was der angrenzende tisch redet war nicht so toll werde wollte eigentlich mit der firma Weihnachtsfeier buchen aber das muss ich mir nochmal gründlich überlegen

Nicht nur optisch sehr ansprechend angerichtet, sondern auch geschmacklich hervorragend war das Essen bei Alex. Und dazu noch zu überaus fairen Preisen. Mein größtes Lob für Küche und den freundlichen Service!

Good food at a fair price for Saarbrücken. You sit on the street and when there's a lot going on, it's very loud, but overall it's nice.

Today I went to breakfast brunch with my daughter, unfortunately with great disappointment 😢 There was a board outside that said breakfast whatever your heart desires for €15.30 plus coffee. Since we have had breakfast at Alex several times before, we knew what brunch was about But today it was just disappointing - there were no cucumber slices, pepper strips, no plain yogurt, bacon, pancakes. There was really a lot missing that was always there. The buffet was simply not worth the price for the money. The staff was very friendly.

Pretty much the worst address for a cozy get-together. Boss quite dismissive. The assistants are ok and nice, but not paid (I found out after a personal conversation. They are all just probationary employees). I didn't get coffee with oat milk because as a vegan I was rather unwelcome. Just a feeling

Well I have to say that the prices here have become outrageous. Charging €4.70 for a handful of side fries is just a disgrace. For a handful of Caesar salad with 3 slices of bread €12.30!!! Just like the drinks, 0.3 Cola 4.70......no no, you're still thinking about going back here And you can save your comment. Other restaurants are also affected by the same things as you and are far cheaper when it comes to food and drinks.

Cool shop, nice staff. Unfortunately, the prices are becoming more and more expensive - sometimes a bit overpriced. Great fish and chips. Burgers are good too. Unfortunately there is no more chili cocoa.

Good place we have found passing by. Right in front of the theatre. It was Sunday with grate activity around.

Always nice, whether inside or outside, cozy, comfortable furniture, really nice young friendly people on staff who are also friendly towards each other. The best coffee without coffee that doesn't taste as good anywhere else in Saarland as it does here!

The breakfast buffet offers a nice selection of dishes, I was positively impressed by the scrambled eggs, which obviously didn't come from a tetra pack. Whether sweet or savory, everyone should find something here. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. If you sit inside you feel comfortable, outside too, although there is a street nearby and the access to the Johanner Markt for delivery vehicles. Overall impression: positive

Today we are at Alex's for the first time. We had a few extra complicated requests.. the waitress had to ask the boss… The boss was really sweet and nice.. He fulfilled all of our wishes. Thank you 🙏🏻 We'll definitely be back!

The waitress is not allowed to serve tap water with espresso. I really feel sorry for the waitress, she was nice, but she doesn't belong there in the restaurant, you could really tell that she had to say that from the management. The management should provide and serve themselves.

It has changed a lot, it has become expensive and the service is no longer up to par. I ordered a cocktail, a super sweet Pink Paloma; I had trouble drinking it without Rosmarin in it. The waiter arrives and I ask him, is there any more Rosmarin? He answers me if there are still any. He tells me he's going to get some and I haven't heard anything yet... the portion of fries is ridiculously small, you'd have to order 2 to get a decent portion. Always more expensive, always less...

We were there on Friday afternoon and unfortunately we were very disappointed Staff is a disaster, they don't listen properly and then bring things that you didn't even order and then cheekily say that it was ordered that way and that's it The food is now also a disaster in terms of taste, but to ask for portions for the price is a joke We've been to Alex's several times in the past, but this will probably be our last visit. We are French and frankly it is time for the Germans to make an effort, because in Saarbrücken at least 30% of customers are cross-border and they make no effort, plus it shows that they don't like us, they are unpleasant towards us, if I could have put 2 stars in the negative I would have done so, but we can't, so I didn't put any stars for the service. For the meal it wasn't crazy...at home everyone can do better.

Were there for the first time and probably for the last time. The chicken in the bowl wasn't cooked properly. Otherwise we ordered waffles and cake, both of which were far too sweet and hardly edible. Drinks were quite ok. Cleanliness was just ok. The only positive thing I would like to mention is the friendly staff.

I would like to highlight that the service was very friendly. However, the booking system is so inflexible and rigid that it was not possible, for example, to order pasta without sauce because, according to the service staff, the pasta is mixed with the tomato sauce in the morning... This is just an example, other little things couldn't be done either be changed or adjusted. Again, reference was made to what they said was a “backward crediting system”. The waiter said that there were a lot of customers who complained about this. I'll take that as an opportunity for a review! The evening was still nice, luckily the children were full even without pasta ;-)

I can only recommend the food was great and the staff was very nice

J'y suis déjà allée plusieurs fois, en couple ou avec des amis et goûté plusieurs plats différents. C'est toujours un plaisir d'y retourner, je ne suis jamais déçu par les plats. Ça peut arriver d'attendre un peu car le weekend il y a beaucoup de monde. Mais parce que ça fonctionne bien. Mon Highlight c'est le buffet petit déjeuner autant en semaine que le weekend un large choix de sucre et salé, il y a en a pour tout les goûts, le prix est très correct. Ce que je préfère c'est que tout est maintenu au chaud, j'ai horreur des pancakes froid, et la bas je peux manger des pancakes chauds avec sauce à la cerise chaude. Des œufs sont toute les formes, salade, pains, charcuterie, pudding, gâteau, fruits et j'en passe. Ne vous faites pas de préjugés parce que c'est une chaîne, allez y, c'est chouette

Wonderful restaurant with outdoor area. Direct proximity to the Saarland State Theater. Food great, service very good!

Chicken teriyaki is out, Caesar salad (dressing is out) baked potato is out, well, then the salad, sorry salad is out too. Unfortunately only 1/3 of the menu was available, it took forever for the food (what you could then order) to come to the table, the taste was not up to par! So we won't be coming back.
