Nice café with a good selection and plenty of vegan/vegetarian options! All hot drinks can be prepared with a plant-based alternative, and many dishes also offer plant-based alternatives, or there are several dishes that are already vegetarian/vegetarian. Very friendly service and plenty of seating, including outside in the summer.

Despite the Christmas season, my friend and I found what we were looking for at ALEX and were happy to be able to eat something delicious. The hummus starter was really delicious. My friend was happy with his Korean BBQ Chicken. Personally, I can't recommend the vegan tarte flambée, probably because I didn't like the chutney in combination with the other ingredients. Service is friendly, rooms look inviting.

Yesterday I had dinner in Aachen at Alex with a good friend. The drinks and food orders were taken quickly. The service was very good and always friendly. We didn't wait long for the drink or the food. The food was super freshly prepared and delicious. We'd love to come back.😊

At the moment very good, attractive price, however do not specify that the fries (5euros) are not with the burger and that the water (75cl) which they do not yet specify is at 7 euros 10. Little extra thing they made a mistake in the service but that is understandable it was in a rush (no that's not true it was almost at 3 p.m.)

The food was generally good, however there was an issue with cleanliness as several mice were seen in the restaurant during the meal. Staff were also aware of the issue but took no action to help guests or resolve the situation. For this reason I unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant.”

It's a shame that this 1-star rating had to happen. When I ordered a cocktail, I expected 0.2L. A 0.2 liter glass also arrived, but it was full to the brim with ice cubes. When I complained, the drink was brought to me without ice cubes, but the glass was less than half full (!) I didn't accept this. The head waiter then kindly took 3 minutes to discuss with me in front of all the other guests that I had finally ordered the drink and had to pay for it. He has already thrown away the first drink (think about it at this point: if he had filled up the first drink, everything would have been OK). Since I'm not a contentious cheapskate, I ultimately gave in to the head waiter's greed for profit and righteousness and accepted the drink. The rest of Sunday brunch was really, really good. The only thing I don't understand is that the €7.50 was more important than the satisfaction of the guests. Also lost customers. I like to spend money on good food and go to better restaurants, but certainly not here anymore.

I've been there several times for lunch and once for breakfast and I've been thrilled every time. Delicious food lots of choice! The cocktails are great! The whiskey sour is too sweet for my taste but everything else is perfect. An incredibly friendly man with a bald head and a cool beard also works there. He has an incredibly cool and friendly voice. Great employee!

Six of us had dinner and we were all very satisfied. The main courses were all delicious and beautifully prepared. The waffles as a dessert were also highly recommended. The service was attentive and very friendly. We'd love to come back!

The Alex in Aachen is always worth a visit. Located directly on Rathausplatz in the city. In summer and when the weather is good you can sit outside. I'm usually there to drink a delicious latte macchiato. But there is also delicious food in different styles. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is super friendly. In the morning there is a breakfast buffet. All in all, a very nice restaurant that invites you to linger.

The four of us stopped here in the evening after the Christmas market. We had a nice table on the left side of the entrance. It was very comfortable and the staff was cheerful, friendly and competent. We had a lot of fun and would love to come back. Cocktails and beer were very good.

Absolutely satisfied. The food is really good and the staff is really friendly. Have eaten here twice now (and had a drink a few times) and would definitely come back! The ambience inside is a bit loud and the seating is semi-optimal. Nevertheless, it is a good idea to eat there with several people or even alone.

I went for a few drinks with friends at Alex Aachen's and even though it was raining, we had a nice time. The overall atmosphere is really good – cozy and inviting. A great place to relax and have a drink with friends, even in bad weather. I'll definitely come back!

Nothing special why you should go to Alex in Aachen, Sunday brunch is good and sufficient, nice service. Entry and exit are a bit strange, the restaurant is cordoned off, you are not picked up as stated and when you go out you have to go over the barrier

I was there for breakfast with a friend. The buffet is rich and very tasty. I can only recommend it. A seat reservation makes sense.

There is nothing to be said against Alex and his dishes, BUT: All guests who wanted to enter the restaurant had to wait in front of a red barrier, even in the rain. Anyone who didn't comply was rudely thrown out ("You have to wait outside!") Although everything was free outside too. Old people who had already been seated were forced to go behind the barrier, then were allowed back to the same table. Service desert at its best..

When I wanted to pay, the waitress was totally unfriendly, threw the card machine at me and went in. I was then left to wait on my own until the machine was ready and I could pay. I find that really disgraceful. The service was catastrophic and unsympathetic. Not recommended

Service absolutely disgraceful. The waiter comes to the table with a cigarette, smokes a full one and says “Next time without cream”.

We were there on a Saturday for a drink. It was well attended and we sat outside. So far so good. Given the sheer volume of visitors, there were only two waitresses there to serve and they were completely overwhelmed. We sat there for what felt like 20 minutes while others who came after us were already being served. If I hadn't called, we would still be there waiting for service. After another 10 minutes, a waitress finally came and took our drinks. My drink came immediately while my partner's didn't come at all. When I asked where the lemonade was, I was curtly told it would take a while. We decided to leave the restaurant. Conclusion: If the store is full, hire more waitresses and not just two. It is disgraceful to fob off customers like this. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not recommended...

Good, affordable food, mostly nice waiters!

Hello Aachen, unfortunately there was a misunderstanding when ordering, or rather the description of the dishes can be interpreted differently. I then tried to find a solution with the staff, but they weren't interested. Service desert, so unfortunately I can't recommend this address. Take a look around the market, there are many great restaurants with good service.

Het eten is zonder meer goed te noemen maar de bediening is zwaar onder de maat. Er staan veel te weinig mensen op de vloer en daardoor zijn wachttijd en timing met gerechten die doorkomen een absolute ergernis. Zelf mijn biertje onder de tap laten houden omdat de schuimkraag bij uitserveren al minimaal was geworden.

Very nice service, which was unfortunately hindered in its work due to the ordering system collapsing or not working. Several orders were delivered one after the other instead of at the same time, incorrect deliveries almost at every table.

A currywurst with a topping of truffle mayonnaise for almost 17 euros is definitely too expensive for this portion size.

On several occasions the order was only partially fulfilled, booked to other tables, or forgotten.

Alex eben, wie überall in Deutschland. Das schönste war die Aussicht auf das Rathaus und den Marktplatz. Leider sind die Essensportionen sehr übersichtlich und die Bedienung könnte ein bisschen fixer sein.

...Imagine sitting outside, looking at the market and after 20 minutes you still haven't been served. Then wouldn't you go too?

I ordered the classic schnitzel with sweet potato fries. It came with a salad and I had to ask for cranberry sauce as well. The schnitzel was decent, it was not thin and not seasoned well, the sweet potato fries were very good however.

Service very nice and accommodating. But as far as the food is concerned, the chicken teriyaki was really lukewarm. You could almost say it wasn't freshly prepared. Rather, it was warmed up. My girlfriend had a César salad plate with chicken. The bread was really hard as rock. Upon request, a second portion was delivered to us where the man had already eaten it. The man could have saved himself. The man didn't even apologize for 3 small breads. And, among other things, you should make sure that there is a better connection for the cash registers on the terrace. It can't be that the waiter always has to run back in to find a connection. My conclusion Alex is more appearance than reality. You can do it, you have to, but it's not a shame. There was also better quality here.

The chain is also known here in the north... we stopped there during a rain shower. Rustic atmosphere right up to the ceiling, delicious food, smoothie was great 👍. Very friendly and open staff, mixed crowd, nice terrace area, close to the town hall. All in all 👏 great!

Alex (Life is Beautiful) unfortunately not for us guests. The coffee (cappuccino and the latte macchiato tasted more like water than coffee. The toilets are not accessible for disabled people because you have to go down a narrow staircase. And what's also not good is that the men's and women's toilets are not separated, unbelievable!! Not recommended😏

Tried the Sunday brunch here which has a great selection for the price point per person, the staff is friendly and attentive and the location is good. Great place to enjoy a Sunday morning in the summers with outdoor seating.

The Alex on the market square is at the same time a welcome meeting place for Aachen residents and also a popular place for tourists. Whether a cold Hefeweizen, a long drink, a cappuccino or a soft drink. There is something for everybody. The menu is impressive. There are many delicacies from Mediterranean burgers, shrimps, salmon to schnitzel and vegetarian dishes. The service is super good! - despite the very busy restaurant. No long waits for food and drinks. Wonderful ambience on the market square and the historic town hall.

After we got restless after a long wait and I flagged down the waitress (brunette with tattoos), I wanted to place my order. Since the waitress knew better how long we would be sitting, she constantly argued. We went to Alex, and took both currys, it was excellent, not as spicy as you would expect, but tasted really really good. What made the experience better was the staff, everyone was very nice, always laughed and were very sweet. Also the music wasn‘t too loud which made it nice to talk, but you could still hear it very well.

I'm very disappointed and wouldn't go there again, the service was totally overwhelmed and unprofessional. First the order was taken incorrectly, then we received half of the order and the other half 1 hour later, we didn't order anything elaborate, just coffee and cake and drinks, really nothing that you have to prepare, and if you order coffee and cake Then you expect it to come together, my girlfriend was brought coffee and cake only 30 minutes later, completely unprofessional, the waitress walks with the tray between the tables and doesn't know who ordered what. And at the end they gave us the wrong bill and wanted to charge us twice as much, luckily we noticed the mistake. We've never felt so ripped off.

Went this morning for the breakfast buffet. Pretty busy inside, but it might be normal for a Friday at 10am. Food was not bad, particularly for what the price is supposed to be. They had different types of eggs which was a plus, some cold cuts and cheese, a couple salads, veggies, and sauces. Nothing tasted like it was made in house, but it wasn't terrible either. What was extremely disappointing, hoiwever, was how I was overcharged by at least 5€ and it seems like it was the waitress giving herself a tip. She never offered a receipt before or after payment, just told me the price and asked me to pay cash because the debit machine was not working (but I had seen her at the door getting paid by card half an hour earlier). Again, it could simply be human error as the restaurant felt like they could use additional waiting staff, but even then the restaurant should have a better system in place. I ended up paying 25€ for brunch and a small coffee and only realised I had been overcharged when I had left town. Thankfully there's another brunch across the plaza; they might be better at math.

We were in the cafe about a week ago. Incredibly fast service, very pleasant and polite waiter. For food we ordered RUMPSTEAK & BAKED POTATO. The steak is sooo delicious. But the potatoes seemed to me not baked, but boiled. My stomach can taste the difference. Baked or grilled potatoes are sweeter, while boiled ones have a little sourness. As for the BERRY SMASH alkoholfrei drinks, I really liked it. It’s not the first time I’ve been there and I recommend it to everyone

Nice restaurant right on the market. When the weather is nice, it's really a great location. Many different (cold) drinks. The beer selection is clear, but completely sufficient. Solid, very attentive staff. The food is very tasty, but the portions of the salads are really too small. After the 16€ salad with (5 mini-mini falafels), which should normally fill me up in any case, we went to eat at the AKL around the corner. So please fix that.

We now regularly eat at ALEX in Aachen and always leave in a good mood and full. The dishes on offer are very, very tasty. The service is extremely friendly and fulfills every wish. Even when we were there very late in the evening last time and thought we wouldn't get anything more, we were served as always in a friendly and quick manner. Thanks!

Downright rude service. We were given something different than what we ordered, the waitress claimed not, so there you are... €20 for two cocktails that you did not order.

Wanted something to drink and eat. But unfortunately we had difficulties when ordering the cappuccino. Either we weren't allowed to place an order and the waiter who was allowed to take the order wasn't interested in us. Chatting with colleagues was more interesting. A young colleague then passed our order on to him. We drank the cupuccino, paid, left and ate somewhere else. End of story.

The service was attentive and quick. The food, in my case a burger, was still okay. For the price I would have expected a frozen patty, but the rest (burger bun, salad) was okay overall.
