I visited from USA and someone told me about this place. Tolga, the manager, made the whole experience extraordinary for us. Great atmosphere

We happened to be here and found the Loksl very nice. The waitress was very busy, but very friendly! The menu was very extensive and included many ingredients that were unfamiliar to us. The lasagna and the mushroom schnitzel were tasty. The side salad for the lasagna was too oily for me, with the pieces of dough and tomato chunks. Overall, we were satisfied but would welcome a larger selection of regional foods.

There were two of us, and Mustafa served us warmly. We immediately felt welcome upon arrival. The service was attentive, friendly, and always with a smile.

Good selection of food. The ambiance was okay. The lasagna was delicious. The service was decent. Great toys for the kids. The meat was tough and therefore not really enjoyable. Cleanliness definitely needs to be improved! Be it in the indoor dining area (on and under the tables) or in the restroom. The smells downstairs in the restroom are unacceptable.

I like their chocolate cake. I used to go to Alex's and buy it to take home, but unfortunately, now you can't get it to go. That's why I have to give them 3 stars because they didn't give me a justification either, and I can't find one.

It's a very nice restaurant. I had the sweet potato lentil soup, which I highly recommend; it's a bit spicy. They have some truly unique drinks, such as a violet lemonade. The service is very friendly.

I had something really simple like hummus and falafel, and they were simply delicious. Maybe the best falafel I've ever had. The place is really nice, and the prices are really reasonable. I recommend it. Edit. I went back a second time during my shift in Aachen. I had the veggie burger with sweet potato fries, and it was so good. I honestly can't wait to go back because the menu is so tempting. Bravo!!

We were at ALEX today (Saturday) and sat outside. The service was truly as bad as I've rarely experienced before. The wait staff were completely understaffed and completely stressed. Half of our order was forgotten and not served until we paid. The ice cream bowls we ordered had already completely melted by the time they arrived at our table. The restrooms reeked of urine and were disgusting! We live in this city and will never go to this restaurant again. Furthermore, the value for money is completely out of proportion. Of course, we still had to pay for the food and drinks that weren't served. The staff didn't apologize. I can't recommend this restaurant in any way!

We like coming here, but mostly for cappuccino with a view of the town hall. Today we had these bowls. Very, very tasty, I highly recommend them. We'll be coming back for more food. Service was very friendly. The only downside is the restroom; they desperately need to improve their cleanliness.

The unlimited breakfast is highly recommended. Lots of choice and delicious. However, I would advise against eating the food on the menu. It's expensive, but unfortunately disappointing in terms of taste. I've tried a few dishes on several visits and have unfortunately always been disappointed by the à la carte options. PS: The large latte is a great way to surprise someone. It's really BIG.

On June 15th, 2025, after attending a beautiful mass at the small church of St. Foillan, we decided to end our week with a family stroll through Aachen’s Town Hall square. The weather was pleasant, the sky still light at around 9 p.m., when we chose to sit down for a coffee at Restaurant and Bar Alex, the one with outdoor seating. Everything seemed perfect... until the absurdity began. I ordered a Chai Latte, my husband ordered a coffee. My son Augusto, who didn’t find anything he liked on the menu, opted for a burger from Five Guys, literally less than a meter away from where we were sitting. A simple, harmless scene. Just a family enjoying their time together. But what followed was surreal. My order came wrong, instead of a Chai Latte, I received a cappuccino. I took a deep breath. I’m not one to make a fuss, and since I like cappuccino, I let it slide. I had no idea this would turn out to be the least of our problems. The three of us were sitting there, chatting, my son eating his burger, when we were abruptly approached by a waiter / bald, mustache, extremely rude, who told us in a harsh, authoritarian tone that my son was not allowed to sit with us. That’s right. My own son. Sitting next to me and his father, was prohibited from being there because he hadn't ordered anything from their restaurant. I was speechless. I tried to explain, shocked, that the terrace was practically empty, that we were a family, that he was our child. And his response? "I don’t care." I DON’T CARE! Hearing that, in front of my son, with that tone of utter contempt, was the breaking point. My husband, also outraged, tried to talk, but the waiter was irrational, aggressive, his vein bulging, mocking us, showing zero willingness to listen. We paid the bill and left. Humiliated. In shock. Heartbroken. The situation was so absurd that the cashier herself apologized for her colleague’s disgraceful behavior, a timid attempt to make up for the irreparable. This is my complete rejection of this unacceptable treatment. More than poor customer service, it was a gratuitous, senseless emotional assault. A shameful, regrettable episode. A night that should’ve been peaceful ended with an emotional burden we won’t soon forget. Lack of empathy. Lack of common sense. And above all, a lack of respect for human beings. We Will nerver return and I strong suggest you all do the same.

Good food. Brunch is highly recommended! Extensive selection and everything fresh. The service is excellent and very friendly. The location is ideal, right in the center of Aachen.

We went in as a group and spent 10 minutes looking at the menu. When the others were undecided, I wanted to take my food to go because I was a fan of Alex. Unfortunately, you couldn't take the food out. So we left. Up until then, it hadn't been a problem. But unfortunately, the blonde waitress's attitude was unacceptable. We felt pressured to order. There's a nicer way to put it: "We couldn't order anything to go." Truly lacking in empathy, uncooperative, and uncommunicative. We saw the eye roll when I wanted to order my drink and the expression on her face when there was no tip. I'm used to more professional behavior from other Alexs.

We happened to pass by here on Pride Saturday (2025) morning and decided to stop in. We opted for the fantastic breakfast buffet and were very happy with our decision. Needless to say, all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating – the buffet was well-stocked and the selection very appealing. We would be happy to be satisfied guests again on our next visit to Aachen.

Today we ate there for the second time. Everything is just perfect here. The food is delicious, plentiful, and truly unique. I love it. I particularly note the first-class service, which is something you rarely get these days. Please keep up the good work!!

After waiting 45 minutes for our food order, and unfortunately, the ordering process took a long time, we were still very satisfied with the food and drinks and didn't complain at all. When we finally wanted to pay and left a smaller tip than the waiter had probably hoped for, we were brazenly told that it was too little. It should be added that we all work in the restaurant industry ourselves and are aware of what it entails. We were then dismissed with the words, "Have a nice evening anyway." With all due respect, I have never experienced such brazen behavior from a restaurant staff.

Trip with a daycare group (18 children) to Aachen. Theater visit. LUNCH and cathedral visit. When planning the trip, we wanted to reserve a table at Alex's by phone. When we asked, the server on the phone said she had to speak to the manager first. She asked, and he replied: "Are you kidding me?" The table was canceled. A friendly cancellation was no problem. But the "manager's" statement was completely unacceptable. Guys, where does this dislike for children come from, and how do you treat potential customers? Never visit your restaurant again. Incidentally, this is also the response from colleagues, parents, and friends.

It's nice that you can sit outside. Restrooms are not easily accessible for people with limited mobility.

The serving is not that perfect, I’m not a german and I faced some racism… I like the decoration.

I would have loved the falafel veggie bowl. But the falafel balls had been frying in the deep fryer for far too long, so it would have been best to have a hammer and chisel to break through the crust. When I asked the quaint guy at the counter about it, he advised me to order schnitzel next time, as they could do better (in a sense, if I understood him correctly). Well, I wouldn't rely on that anymore.

Very good food and very fast, in one portion the chicken breast was a bit burnt but the rest was very good! I would go again!

We have eaten at Alex several times now and are absolutely satisfied. The food is very tasty and the service has always been great. Also big praise to the waiters. When the weather is nice, the number of visitors inside and especially outside is extremely high and yet everything runs without any major problems.

Great, good view of the town hall! Good menu, large selection for appetites large and small ❤️ Chicken Karaage was tasty, the sweet potato fries with truffle mayonnaise were a poem. The truffle mayonnaise is awesome!!!

The vegetarian bowl was delicious, although the lamb's lettuce wasn't the freshest and also had a few roots on it. But the taste is great. The nachos were bland. Special requests (vegetarian or individual ingredients) cannot be accommodated, as everything is prepared in the morning and pre-made (according to the service person) and then just made hot. The service was okay in terms of speed, but that's where it ended. The first bottle of wine was delicious, the second tasted different. When asked if we could get a different bottle as this was a different vintage, this was not addressed. Instead, it is assumed that vintages would not taste different because they would be the same wine (perhaps further training would be necessary here). But well, the rest was fine. Except for the construction site in front of the door, which the “restaurant” can’t do anything about.

Lovely café with a good selection and plenty of vegan/vegetarian options! All hot drinks can be prepared with a plant-based alternative, and many dishes also offer plant-based alternatives, or there are several dishes that are already vegetarian/vegetarian. Very friendly service and plenty of seating, including outside in the summer.

Despite the Christmas season, my friend and I found what we were looking for at ALEX and were happy to be able to eat something delicious. The hummus starter was really delicious. My friend was happy with his Korean BBQ Chicken. Personally, I can't recommend the vegan tarte flambée, probably because I didn't like the chutney in combination with the other ingredients. Service is friendly, rooms look inviting.

Yesterday I had dinner in Aachen at Alex with a good friend. The drinks and food orders were taken quickly. The service was very good and always friendly. We didn't wait long for the drink or the food. The food was super freshly prepared and delicious. We'd love to come back.😊

At the moment very good, attractive price, however do not specify that the fries (5euros) are not with the burger and that the water (75cl) which they do not yet specify is at 7 euros 10. Little extra thing they made a mistake in the service but that is understandable it was in a rush (no that's not true it was almost at 3 p.m.)

It's a shame that this 1-star rating had to happen. When I ordered a cocktail, I expected 0.2L. A 0.2 liter glass also arrived, but it was full to the brim with ice cubes. When I complained, the drink was brought to me without ice cubes, but the glass was less than half full (!) I didn't accept this. The head waiter then kindly took 3 minutes to discuss with me in front of all the other guests that I had finally ordered the drink and had to pay for it. He has already thrown away the first drink (think about it at this point: if he had filled up the first drink, everything would have been OK). Since I'm not a contentious cheapskate, I ultimately gave in to the head waiter's greed for profit and righteousness and accepted the drink. The rest of Sunday brunch was really, really good. The only thing I don't understand is that the €7.50 was more important than the satisfaction of the guests. Also lost customers. I like to spend money on good food and go to better restaurants, but certainly not here anymore.

I've been there several times for lunch and once for breakfast and I've been thrilled every time. Delicious food lots of choice! The cocktails are great! The whiskey sour is too sweet for my taste but everything else is perfect. An incredibly friendly man with a bald head and a cool beard also works there. He has an incredibly cool and friendly voice. Great employee!

Six of us had dinner and we were all very satisfied. The main courses were all delicious and beautifully prepared. The waffles as a dessert were also highly recommended. The service was attentive and very friendly. We'd love to come back!

The Alex in Aachen is always worth a visit. Located directly on Rathausplatz in the city. In summer and when the weather is good you can sit outside. I'm usually there to drink a delicious latte macchiato. But there is also delicious food in different styles. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is super friendly. In the morning there is a breakfast buffet. All in all, a very nice restaurant that invites you to linger.

The four of us stopped here in the evening after the Christmas market. We had a nice table on the left side of the entrance. It was very comfortable and the staff was cheerful, friendly and competent. We had a lot of fun and would love to come back. Cocktails and beer were very good.

Absolutely satisfied. The food is really good and the staff is really friendly. Have eaten here twice now (and had a drink a few times) and would definitely come back! The ambience inside is a bit loud and the seating is semi-optimal. Nevertheless, it is a good idea to eat there with several people or even alone.

I went for a few drinks with friends at Alex Aachen's and even though it was raining, we had a nice time. The overall atmosphere is really good – cozy and inviting. A great place to relax and have a drink with friends, even in bad weather. I'll definitely come back!

Nothing special why you should go to Alex in Aachen, Sunday brunch is good and sufficient, nice service. Entry and exit are a bit strange, the restaurant is cordoned off, you are not picked up as stated and when you go out you have to go over the barrier

I was there for breakfast with a friend. The buffet is rich and very tasty. I can only recommend it. A seat reservation makes sense.

There is nothing to be said against Alex and his dishes, BUT: All guests who wanted to enter the restaurant had to wait in front of a red barrier, even in the rain. Anyone who didn't comply was rudely thrown out ("You have to wait outside!") Although everything was free outside too. Old people who had already been seated were forced to go behind the barrier, then were allowed back to the same table. Service desert at its best..

When I wanted to pay, the waitress was totally unfriendly, threw the card machine at me and went in. I was then left to wait on my own until the machine was ready and I could pay. I find that really disgraceful. The service was catastrophic and unsympathetic. Not recommended

Service absolutely disgraceful. The waiter comes to the table with a cigarette, smokes a full one and says “Next time without cream”.

We were there on a Saturday for a drink. It was well attended and we sat outside. So far so good. Given the sheer volume of visitors, there were only two waitresses there to serve and they were completely overwhelmed. We sat there for what felt like 20 minutes while others who came after us were already being served. If I hadn't called, we would still be there waiting for service. After another 10 minutes, a waitress finally came and took our drinks. My drink came immediately while my partner's didn't come at all. When I asked where the lemonade was, I was curtly told it would take a while. We decided to leave the restaurant. Conclusion: If the store is full, hire more waitresses and not just two. It is disgraceful to fob off customers like this. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not recommended...
