Fast, very friendly service, and great value for money! The menu is very varied, especially for vegetarian and vegan guests. Try it for yourself, as we did, and don't be swayed by previous negative reviews! Unfortunately, society tends to be guided and influenced instead of being self-conscious. Enjoy your visit in this comfortable atmosphere!

It's wonderful to sit outside and observe. If Bismarckstrasse is actually finished one day, it will be even better. The only annoying thing is the e-bikers speeding past when you're sitting right next to the road. Almost no one sticks to the 10 km/h speed limit.

I visited this restaurant for the first time with three friends, lured by the good reviews and the large number of customers. Unfortunately, it was a disaster. We ordered three schnitzels and a burger. The burger was okay, nothing special, but edible. The real disaster, however, were the schnitzels. My traditional pork schnitzel was dry, and the meat tasted like it wasn't fresh. I only ate two bites and left the rest. It was the first time I'd ever been served food of such poor quality. One of my friends ordered a chicken schnitzel, and hers was exactly the same—dry, tough, and of dubious freshness. Serving someone such a meal is questionable. I was ashamed of myself for taking my friends there. The breading wasn't crispy, the meat was split in two, dry and old instead of juicy and fresh. The potatoes tasted like they'd been reheated from the day before. The service was friendly, but that's far from enough. The food is of a very low standard. I don't know where all the good reviews come from, but I definitely won't be coming back and can't recommend it to anyone.

My family and I waited over 40 minutes for a simple portion of potato chips – and in the end, they didn't arrive at all. Absolutely incomprehensible and disappointing for us. This shouldn't happen.

Wiener Schnitzel for €12.90: Disgusting, cheap convenience meat and an unappealingly sad presentation on the plate. 0.2 L of lemonade for €3: 90% ice cubes in the glass, 10% soda. Seats dirty, tables unwashed. The location is nice in the neighborhood, but everything else is simply disgusting.

Good food and very good service!!

This was actually our first time ordering here and picking up the food. We had four different dishes, and none of us were particularly impressed. The cream sauce tasted salty and like it came from a jar. The sauerbraten was just sweet. The salad was boring. Some of the schnitzels were so burnt that we initially considered returning them. The ambiance seemed quite nice... And the portions were large and plentiful, which should be expected given the prices. Sorry, but there's a lot of room for improvement here...

Simply good and tasty when the weather is nice, even outside

Very nice ambiance, quiet yet in the heart of the Frankenberg district. We sat outside, so I can't comment on the interior. I highly recommend the salad: delicious and a generous portion! The service was attentive and friendly. A pleasant experience.

Friendly service. Tasty salad, though mostly iceberg lettuce, no other greens. What makes the food come back, however, is the unbearable stench of urine in the toilet. Any train station toilet is more appetizing. When was the last time it was cleaned?

Some of the service staff are very friendly, but one of them feels she has to insult the guests. I think the manager needs to take urgent action before even more guests avoid the islander. This staff is no longer acceptable.

Overall, it would have been 5 stars 🌟. One of the conditions is extremely unfriendly. It's just going too far. A shame for what is actually a nice team.

There's a couple of people, you arrive, and you want food. The friendly waitress comes over, says hello, and asks, "What would you like?" "I'd like the calamari and a..." I begin my order, but am interrupted mid-sentence: "Food isn't served until 12:00!" "Oh," he replies, "what time is it?" The answer: "A quarter to 12!"

The food is pretty standard, but definitely good :-) Comfortable outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable. You can do it 👌☺️

Great location, but the quality of the food has declined so much that the increased prices are no longer justifiable.

Several rats were running around behind and to the right of the drinks cart/truck. This could also have been due to the fact that the cart was very unkempt and two small buckets of general waste were left open on the floor next to the truck. The waitress was extremely rude – I've never experienced anything like it in my life. She wiped the table with an obviously dirty rag, leaving food scraps from the previous customer lying there. Our polite request to clean the table again received no response. Instead, she wiped it roughly and reluctantly. As if that wasn't unpleasant enough, she tried to give me only €2 out of a bill of €7.10 (I gave €10). I generally like to tip, but not with such disrespectful and unprofessional service. Tips are voluntary and shouldn't be simply withheld in such a shameless manner.

Der Service ist nett und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war eine Enttäuschung. Mein mit Käse und Ananas überbackenes Hähnchenbrustfilet war paniert und ertrank regelrecht im Käse. Zwischendrin fanden sich einige Ananasstücke aus der Dose. Zusammen mit der Panade ergab das Ganze eine richtige Pampe, die zudem an manchen Stellen nur lauwarm war. Der extra dazu bestellte Salat, für knappe 5 Euro, war mit einem Klecks Dressing dekoriert und unten fand sich der Strunk als Füllmaterial. Die Pommes sind lecker, aber so wenig, als wären sie abgezählt. Fazit: Im Insulaner schmecken die Pommes und die Kartoffelchips mit den Dips, die kann man guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen, den Rest werde ich meinen Geschmacksnerven nicht noch einmal zumuten.

Hier ist meine Wohlfühloase, mein Wohnzimmer Nummer 1 nach Feierabend. Seit 2011 bin ich hier zuhause. Ich liebe die Klassiker der Küche genau so wie die neuen Gerichte auf der Karte. Ob innen, auf der Vorterrasse, im Lounge Bereich oder auf dem wundervollen Neumarkt: Hier kann ich entspannen, genieße die familiäre Atmosphäre und leckere wechselnde Biere. Es gibt eine wöchentlich wechselnde Mittagstischkarte und Angebote für Vegetarier und Veganer. Kurzum: Kommst Du nach Aachen ist hier ein Besuch neben Dom und Co. Ein Pflichttermin.

We were there yesterday and sat outside in the sunshine. The food was OK and the price was right. It's a nice neighborhood, the service was friendly and the owner was nice. The service was quick and we really enjoyed it. It's just a shame the vandalism on the beautiful old building facades; it's hard to imagine.

We always enjoy staying at the Insulaner. Whether for dinner or a few drinks. It's delicious, the service is good and so is the ambience.

Great, down-to-earth restaurant and meeting point in the Frankenberg district with a simple, manageable but good selection of dishes, most of which are vegetarian or vegan. There is also friendly service. It doesn't hurt to make a reservation on the weekend.

Bar atmosphere, far too dark and therefore uncomfortable. We were there this week and found it disappointing. Hard schnitzel with a mega-thick sauce that couldn't even flow out of the gravy boat, loveless salad in a bag with a blob of yogurt on it... it wasn't edible. Even if the service was friendly, it was a waste of money.

This is hands down one of the best restaurants I have visited in Aachen. My go to dish here is Vegetarian Schnitzel ungarische art with Offenkartofel and rahmnsauce. The food is really tasty. Their is an outside area that is facing a park but also is just next to street, so its not the prettiest place to sit at but on a sunny day with people at park their is not much to complain. Inside seating is spacious and beautiful. The service is top notch, waiters are professional and helpful. I can only recommend this place. I often eat here.

You can do it. The changing lunch menu and general quality are positive. Portions are comparatively large and the prices are reasonable.

We wanted to have a coffee outside. The waiter told us that food wouldn't be available for half an hour and that we'd better find another café if we wanted to eat. He seemed unmotivated and unfortunately really unfriendly. We are actually used to it differently from the other employees.

The burger was good, the noodles were medium. With a little more salt they became better, but still a bit bland. The beer (bit on tap) tasted a bit stale.

Nice outdoor area on the Neumarkt. Unfortunately the quality of the food is at snack bar level. Ate there three times, not tasty three times. Too bad.

Unfortunately, food is out of the question. Schnitzel too hard, prepared incorrectly. Ordered a small beer and received a large one. Sauce was very salty. The plate was lackluster. A tomato or gurkr or a leaf of lettuce was missing. The room was far too dark. SORRY, wasn't satisfied

Very nice restaurant, with very nice ladies at the service. It was my first time there and it won't be the last time! I can't rate the food because I had a Kölsch and my companion had a cappuccino.

What you would expect in the alternative district of Aachen.

Nice to sit down, very friendly staff, I would rather eat in a neighboring restaurant. The salad is drowning in dressing, the fries are too hard, the grilled vegetables are more overcooked than grilled. Too bad.

As soon as we sat down outside, a service employee came and wanted to take the order. My friend was still undecided and didn't have time to take a look at the menu when he was asked to order because the lady didn't want to walk twice ! What?! We ordered a bottle of white wine, which was placed on the table without comment. We were allowed to open and pour ourselves. We were able to shell out €25 for a wine that I later found for sale in the neighborhood for €8. I'm well aware that I always pay extra in a restaurant, but I find this surcharge rather cheeky! Especially because the service was so bad and the atmosphere of the place isn't really pleasant either, because you're sitting right next to a playground and there was a lot going on there because the weather was good. The islander obviously doesn't have to place any value on service etc. and can charge unjustified prices, as there are probably enough willing customers, namely moms and dads who stop by the playground because of the location. There are hardly any other restaurants nearby. For me the islander is a capitalist goldmine and absolutely not recommended!

The waitress (female) came to our table chewing food to take our order. The visibly dirty table (from the customer beforehand) was not wiped down.

The service is great and the employees are extremely friendly. Drinks are great 👍👍 So if you want to have a quiet drink in the evening, it's perfect. The food is quite ok 👍

Service: it depends. There are nice, attentive employees at the Insulaner, but also something special. Eat: Average. I recently ordered a poutine special with fresh onions, mayo and curry sauce. Fries aren't homemade, nor do I expect them. But the fries were drowned in sauce and the onions dominated the dish. I've had the same experience with salad dressing. (Too much dressing) But the waitress was very nice and apologized. The vegan burger, however, was delicious. The Insulaner is on Neumarkt in the Frankberg district. It's nice to sit outside in good weather. It's a busy, family-friendly area.

Very cozy atmosphere with extremely attentive and friendly service. I had the Klassic Burger, I was absolutely full, if the burger buns had been toasted it would have tasted as good as it looked, otherwise it was great!!! We will be back!!!

What can I expect from a pepper cream schnitzel with thick Belgian fries for €11.90? Oh well. The fries would have been fine and the schnitzel wasn't a hit either. The fried potatoes were lukewarm, could have been from Pfanni. The schnitzel with it wasn't great either. Was like a frozen schnitzel. The burger with the no chicken patty, unfortunately that was nothing either. A pity. 3 people, 3x not satisfied. A pity. But the ambience, inside and out, is always good.

Ein Reinfall auf höchstem Niveau, das Essen war soweit okay, aber sehr sparsam. Bei Nachfrage der Soßen wurde man mit einem Dipp Döschen abgefertigt, vollkommen daneben, die Hälfte des Essens ging zurück. Kein 2. Mal.

Since Bismarckstrasse has been closed to vehicle traffic in front of the restaurant, a visit to the outdoor area is always worth it. Unfortunately, I probably made the worst choice with my paprika schnitzel today. It was the first time ever that I didn't see a single piece of pepper in a paprika schnitzel. I don't know anything about this dish. When I commented on this, I was told that the peppers were used in the sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce tasted more like a bag than homemade. I don't cook often myself, but today I would have done better. The waitress expressed her regret, but I would have eaten better somewhere else today.

Das Beste im F4. Bleibt, wie ihr seid! Ich würde gerne wie übliche eine lange,ehrliche und ausführliche Rezension schreiben. Da das große G aber meint, die Hälfte meiner Rezension zu sperren, sehe ich es nicht mehr ein,mir diese Arbeit zu machen. Eine Begründung bekomme ich auch auf mehrfache Anfrage nicht.

Eigentlich ist der Laden häufig gut gefüllt, ich möchte meinen: am guten Essen wird's nicht liegen. Knüppelhartes Tiefkühlschnitzel mit viel zu dicker Sauce. Pommes waren i.O., aber nichts besonderes. Der Teller war nicht dekoriert, sah schon sehr traurig aus. Den Beilagensalat lässt man sich extra bezahlen, was den Preis stark relativiert. Bier war kalt, Service nett, daher noch zwei Sterne - zum Essen gehen aber leider eine Enttäuschung.

Hab mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Essen war super. Ich komme wieder mit meiner Familie.

absolut enttäuschend.. Kaiserschmarrn muss weich sein und nicht hart mit verbrannten Ecken. Das war eher frittiert. Das war wie ein geschmackloses altes Brötchen ohne Sauce. Uns wurde auch nicht gefragt, ob alles in Ordnung sei oder ob es geschmeckt hat. Kakao hat leider auch nach nur Wasser geschmeckt aber das liegt dann wohl eher am Automaten.

Beste Vegane Currywurst der Stadt! Ambiente erinnert an eine Kneipe, aber man kann hier auch gut essen. Auf jedenfall empfehlenswert.

Die Curry-Wurst im Insulaner … … ist eine Katastrophe und hat mit einer wirklichen Currywurst wenig zu tun, denn die rote wässrige Soße erinnert eher an eine gezuckertecostasiatische Wok-Soße, als an eine Curry-Soße. Darin schwimmen statt knusprig gerösteter Zwiebeln auf der Wust lange gedünstete Zwiebelstreifen. Die Wurst selbst zeichnet sich durch eine mit dem Messer nur schwer zu zerteilende Haut aus, deren ledrige Konsistenz ehe an die Haut eines verdursteten Leguans in der Gobi, als an die Haut einer Currywurst erinnert. Gegen die Pommes ist nichts zu sagen, die sind in Ordnung. Die übrigen Gerichte im Insulaner sind übrigens im Verhältnis zum Preisniveau gut und für Familien gut geeignet. Dass aber ausgerechnet die Currywurst des Insulaner, diese Antithese zu einer wahren Currywurst hier fotografisch prominent hervorgehoben wird hervorgehoben wird, ist schon ein bisschen seltsam. Die Wirtin sollte ihren Koch zu einem Lehrgang nach Berlin entsenden, dort kann er lernen, wie eine gute Currywurst gemacht wie wie sie aussehen und schmecken muss.

Da war ich in den 80ern als Student häufig. Habe im Frankenberger Viertel gewohnt. Wenn ich heute in Aachen bin, ist ein Champignonrahmschnitzel Pflicht. Seeehr lecker!

Leckeres Essen (Sauerkrautburger) und fantastisches Bier gehabt (Helles vom Fass). Leider stank ich nach dem Abend als hätte ich in einer Frittenbude übernachtet. Unbedingt Lüftung im Lokal überdenken!!

Das Essen ist wirklich gut, ich liebe die Bockwurst und die Grilled Veggies. Vor allem bei schönem Wetter sitzt man hier auch toll. Was leider aber dann nicht gut funktioniert, ist der Service. Alle Angestellten sind nett und flitzen nach Kräften hin und her, aber das Essen braucht einfach sehr lange. Man sollte also Geduld mitbringen.

Leider war das Essen eine Katastrophe. In Sachen Essen bin ich wirklich nicht besonders anspruchsvoll. Aber das war wirklich grausam. In den letzten 20 Jahren habe ich noch nie so schlecht gegessen. Ich bin heute noch fassungslos. Wie kann man nur so schlechte Qualität servieren und dafür so viel Geld verlangen? Tiefkühlware von schlechtester Qualität war mein Eindruck. Herzlos zubereitet und herzlos serviert. Auch meine Schwester, die zum ersten Mal dort war, hat das genauso empfunden. Kaltes und abstoßendes Ambiente. Unaufmerksame und leider auch unfreundliche Bedienung. In Sachen Essen/ Bedienung und Ambiente bin ich nicht besonders anspruchsvoll, das soll was heißen. Seit vielen Jahren die schlechteste Erfahrung. Nie wieder.

Das Essen ist leider nicht zu empfehlen. Die Konsistenz der Folienkartoffel ist viel zu weich, sie schwimmt in Sauerrrahm (völlig überdimensioniert), für das extrem kleingewürfelte (ebenfalls superweiche - frische(?)) Gemüse braucht man ebenfalls keine Zähne. Das ganze Essen kommt dazu noch lauwarm an den Tisch. Einzig und allein die freundliche Bedienung und das nette Ambiente ist posiviv zu bewerten, das Essen ist und bleibt unterirdisch- bereits seit Jahren! Seit Jahren dieselbe Speisekarte - immer gleich schelchte Qualität der Zubereitung sowie der Produkte (z.B. Fertigsalate aus der Tüte - selbst im Sommer!).

Ich konnte für einen Hospizgast in meiner Heimatstadt aus seiner Heimatstadt einen Sauerbraten mit Aachener Printensoẞe und Rosinen mitbringen- mit extra viel Soße und hervorragendem Fleisch. Der „Gast“ hatte Tränen in den Augen beim Essen seines Lieblingsgerichtes und fand es einfach nur köstlich. Vielen Dank auch nochmal für die freundliche Bedienung!

Schöner Außenbereich, auch mit Lounge Möbeln, für ein Bierchen im Herzen des Frankenberger Viertels. Nettes Personal, Weizenbier vom Fass (auch kleine, wer's braucht😂), Preis dafür noch erträglich. Zum Essen kann ich nichts sagen. Wenn die Autos dauerhaft verbannt wären, wär's echt der Hit, aber soll ja Fahrradstraße werden, immerhin etwas.
