It's a bit annoying that the restaurant is located right in the entrance area of ​​a shopping center, and customers walk through the dining area. Otherwise, everything's fine.

The breakfast buffet is truly delicious, and the latte comes in a huge cup! One star deducted because the restaurant serves as a gateway to the shopping center and shares the restrooms with the mall.

I can totally recommend the breakfast buffet. Lots of choice, everything was great. But on the menu a mini side salad is really more than mini. And the herb garlic ciabatta is a joke. A small baguette slice for over €4 is a disgrace. Quality is good. But some dishes are a no go in terms of price. Otherwise everything is fine. Service was nice and quick. Ambiance also nice.

On my last visit I ordered a steak with salad. And then a portion of fries afterwards. I definitely have to praise them. Deliciously seasoned and so crispy. Furthermore, the restrooms, both downstairs and upstairs, are disgustingly dirty and, especially in the evenings, eerie. However, the staff, when it's not too busy, is friendly and responds promptly.

I've had breakfast here several times - there's a delicious, varied buffet with everything your heart desires. If something is empty, it will be refilled promptly, from fruit, yogurt, meatballs, bread rolls - but also fried potatoes, turkey breast, Schupfnudeln - something for everyone. During this time, several waiters came to our table, but instead of taking the order, they just said: “My colleague is coming soon.” But nobody came. After these long 45 minutes, we were suddenly asked to leave our table because all tables were supposedly reserved. Why didn't anyone tell us this before? We wasted valuable time only to leave at the end with no food and a huge disappointment. Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful treatment of guests! waren Anfang März zu "Kaffee und Kuchen" am Sonntag nachmittag da. 2 Cappuchino und 2 Kuchen für 18EUR. Kann man in einem Stadtzentrum nicht meckern. Kuchen geschmacklich sehr gut. Personal freundlich und schnell. Zumindest bei uns war alles gut. Insgesamt dort auch vernünftiges Publikum, nicht wie bei der Pyramide ...

Unfortunately, we have to realize again and again that the service at Alex Karlsruhe does not live up to what one would hope for. Although the restaurant was always a good option for us due to its location close to the office and the relaxed atmosphere, we have to say that we are increasingly disappointed. It simply takes far too long for a waitress to even come to the table. We often waited for 20-30 minutes without anyone being with us. And this doesn't just happen when the restaurant is busy - even if only 2-3 tables are occupied, you often don't see any reaction from the waitresses. They walk past us several times, look directly at us, but simply don't come to us to ask what we want. It's particularly bad when you've already run out of drinks and the waitress walks past you without asking if you want anything else. We find the prices to be far too high for this service. In our opinion, an espresso for €3.30 is already borderline, and the prices for drinks - like €4.40 for a small cola - also seem unreasonable to us. The quality of the food is okay, but not exceptional either. Sometimes you notice that the chef doesn't seem particularly motivated, which unfortunately can also be reflected in the taste. We have enjoyed visiting Alex in the past, but as time goes on the service becomes more and more disappointing. It's a shame, because the location and ambience are actually very pleasant. We hope the service will improve in the future.

Wir haben für den 1. Januar 2025 auf 10 Uhr einen Tisch zum Frühstück reserviert und so auch schriftlich bestätigt bekommen. Wir standen am Neujahrstag pünktlich vor verschlossener Tür. Ein unfreundlichen Mitarbeiter der gerade Müll entsorgte sagte mürrisch " Wir öffnen erst um 11 Uhr". Vielen Dank erstmal für ein gutes neues Jahr. Auf unsere schriftliche Beschwerde hat niemand reagiert. Danke Alex, nie wieder!!!

We've been coming here for brunch for many years. It's always delicious and there's never been anything to complain about. This time, however, I would like to say thank you for taking people into consideration. I was also allowed to eat from the buffet, even though I had stomach surgery and can only eat small portions.

Food was quite good. Service was bottomless. Questions or special requests are not welcome here.

It's been a long time since I went here for lunch with a friend. The restaurant was full, but almost 45 minutes of waiting time was too much. The food was okay, although not a highlight. - In the post gallery you just sit in the middle of the passage. This made it loud as hell. Why the music in the restaurant was also turned up loud is inexplicable. Sitting comfortably, eating something and having a conversation was not possible. The worst thing was our waitress, a young lady: no “Hello”, no “How are you?”, not a nice word. When we wanted to pay it took forever until she came. When we looked directly at her and spoke to her, she simply looked away. I like to tip a lot. However, if you don't want the job, you don't want tips. Sorry Alex, but I don't feel comfortable like this and can save myself the next visit. - Too bad for you and me. Have a good new year anyway.

We went there on a Friday evening, at a time when there was little traffic, to get something to eat. The drinks and appetizer were served quickly, but after 60 minutes we asked about the whereabouts of our main course. We were put off with the statement “It’s already sizzling.” After a total of 90 minutes, and after a neighboring table that had arrived after us had already received its main course, we decided to leave the restaurant. There was not even an attempt to accommodate us - neither in the form of a drink on the house nor in any other way. Instead it just said that the food had apparently just been ready. However, a look at the exit showed an empty table and we still had to pay the full amount.

I just wanted to make a reservation for the breakfast buffet for 4 people. Never been treated so unkindly, would be the first and last time I go there. I can't rate food. Hope you know who had phone service

He introduced everything to us and explained how the processes work. The buffet was fresh and appetizingly served. The selection was more than sufficient and diverse. Gladly again!

The guy in the photo was very rude and I asked him to change my orange juice because it was full of bones and he said that's normal and he continued on without paying any attention. We went to ALEX for coffee and cake in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the selection of cakes is not very large, but the apple pie was very tasty. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the price/performance ratio is not objectionable either. The location in the shopping center and therefore the many visitors who use the ALEX as a passage to the post gallery are somewhat disturbing. Otherwise we can recommend the ALEX.

Food was ok, presentation of the plates is beautiful. Dressing and spices good too. The patty (meat) from the burger was not good (hence the 2 star deduction), it tasted like frozen, cheaply industrialized "meat". The meat tastes better at Burger King. This combined with the hefty prices (significantly increased in the last 2 years, don't be fooled by old photos of the menu) prevents a repeat. Salad plate was good. Ambiance is modern and sophisticated, but the whole restaurant is still a walk from the shopping center, including an elevator on the corner (which is no quieter for that reason). The waiters try hard to understand and speak German, but are friendly and prompt at your table. Food took a while to arrive, but that was acceptable. Beer came filled 5mm below the 0.5l mark. Every drop is saved.
