The kitchen staff understands their craft in an authentic, approachable way—no frills, but with palpable passion. All the service staff know the dishes inside and out, answer every question confidently, and create an atmosphere that is both professional and incredibly warm. And it's precisely here that you can tell it's a family-run restaurant—you feel this special warmth and hospitality from the very first moment. The atmosphere at Al Salam is always pleasant, relaxed, and inviting—perfect for evenings with friends, family, or even business meetings. The drinks and wines also deserve special mention: perfectly paired with the food and of first-class quality. I found this restaurant online for our anniversary and wanted to try it out with my wife... Without exaggeration, it's the BEST restaurant in a long time, worthy of the title "restaurant"! Everything tasted amazing. We had "Karas" as a non-alcoholic cocktail. I've never tasted that intensity in any cocktail in my life... A cult spot for lovers of overpriced children's portions with a Middle Eastern flair. I and my companion went to this, I must admit, luxuriously decorated establishment. The receptionist didn't keep us waiting long before showing us to our seats, near a hipster crowd. I confess that I dined at the old location a few years ago, and I found the offerings acceptable back then. What I didn't find acceptable was the experience I'm describing this time. The waiter, a very attentive man, took our cocktail orders. For a whopping €14 a drink, you get a Middle Eastern-inspired taste of something, served in a vessel that looks appealing but holds the size of a thimble. Thus, within 10 minutes, Al Salam managed to annoy us while simultaneously preparing us for what was still to come: the food. Aside from the fact that it's not easy to impress my connoisseur palate, and it's difficult to prepare anything better than I would anyway, the food was an absolute disgrace. With (main) course prices of up to over €30, I expect more than five sad venison meatballs, each the size of a grape, or two pieces of veal, each weighing 50 grams, served on a dessert plate. Assuming a normal adult, there's no feeling of fullness (unless you're talking about an eating disorder). Regarding the preparation, I don't have anything particularly positive to report here. In summary, Al Salam is perfect if you want to go home €100 lighter. And that's exactly the problem facing the restaurant industry right now.

We know Al Salam from its old location on the Ring. It was never possible to get a table without a reservation on a Saturday. With their first-class service and delicious dishes, they've done just that at their new location. The drinks are very good. They've even won awards for them. Al Salam offers high-quality Arabic dishes that you won't find everywhere. The hummus (a classic that no Arabic restaurant should be without) was very tender compared to other restaurants. The fish was also excellent, the salad had a convincing sweet and sour composition, and the meat was tender. Everything was top-notch! The staff was extremely friendly and brilliantly knowledgeable. Any ambiguities were immediately clarified. It was a very pleasant evening on the beautiful terrace. Everything is taken care of. If you're cold, you get a blanket, etc. The concept of sharing several smaller portions is wonderful, as you can try everything. And the "small" portions were more than enough! The price is on the higher side, which is something you're happy to accept for such a lovely evening.

Unfortunately, it was an absolute disaster. We were very excited about the new brunch offering and were disappointed. The unfriendly and uncomprehending service is a real disaster in the restaurant industry. You can choose between two breakfast options. One includes 9 dishes (€29 per person) "chosen by the kitchen team," and the other 13 dishes (€49 per person). We opted for 9 dishes, including a coffee/tea. These are set meals. I ordered tea, and my cup and the other cups at the table were only half filled—why large cups if you're only serving half anyway? After we ordered, part of our order arrived about 20 minutes later (see photo). They didn't say what was coming next, so we were left wondering if that was all there was to it. We had hoped that olive oil and za'atar weren't actually described as a "dish" and couldn't ask, as the waiter never came to the table. After another 15 minutes, sucuk and beef bacon arrived – very poorly presented and unfortunately, probably too dry (I'm a vegetarian myself). Another 15 minutes later, shakshuka arrived. And another 15/20 minutes later, another dish, so that an hour after ordering, we finally had our table (almost) full. When I then pointed out to the waiter that it was really unfortunate not to communicate that another dish was coming and that we would have to wait so long for it – despite the set menu, mind you! – he just cheekily replied, asking if I expected them to focus solely on our table. There were only two waiters on duty, and someone in the kitchen was also absent. That can happen, of course, but an apology for the delays or something along those lines would have been more appropriate… Simply cheeky! So, unfortunately, breakfast here was definitely not enjoyable; you wait and wait and don't even know what the "kitchen team's choice" is today. Another negative aspect was that after clearing the dessert, new cutlery was placed on the table and NOT wiped down. (See photo) The table was covered in crumbs, which is no surprise given the microscopic plates we had. So, for a place that advertises itself as somewhat finer and charges accordingly, the service was simply poor. We didn't want to wait forever for dessert and had it wrapped up. At home, it turned out that the pudding was probably partially burnt and therefore tasted burnt. There was NO trace of the nuts that were supposed to be between the pancakes – as described on their Instagram account! All in all: There will definitely not be another visit.

About a year ago, we came here for dinner and were very satisfied. When we heard they also offer breakfast, we decided to try it. Unfortunately, we were completely dissatisfied with the concept, the service, and the taste. Cold tea, unfriendly service, and breakfast, which was served bit by bit, arrived at the end of our reservation time. You can't enjoy dessert there because it takes ages to be served. On top of that, the glasses are dirty. In short, absolutely not recommended.

The three of us went out and sat outside. It's a pleasant place to sit. The food was quite good, but by no means exceptional—as it's so often described here. That's certainly a matter of taste, though. What annoyed us in retrospect, however, were the drink prices and the corresponding quality. The Provence/Gin cocktail for twelve euros, while tasty at first, was so heavily iced that it quickly tasted bland. The wines, at around six euros (for 1 cl!), were rather insignificant and therefore far too expensive. Overall, a disappointment, especially considering the value for money.

The restaurant had existed elsewhere (on the Ring) for decades. After a lengthy renovation, the good old Casa di Biase has received a worthy successor, but with a completely different program! The oriental cuisine is amazing. We never really know if everything is authentic, but no matter, it tastes very good. The sharing concept, so popular these days, is actively supported here. That's a good thing, because it allows you to try a variety of dishes. Be careful, the portions are quite large, so if in doubt, order more later. The prices are fair, including for the wine. The service is very attentive. The ambiance is pleasant. There are also lower tables and seating in the front section, which could be problematic for taller visitors. In summer, you can also sit outside.

The pointed cabbage and the falafel balls were the highlight, other dishes were good to ok. What should be highlighted is the instructive service. If you raise your fake non-alcoholic beer in the second attempt to order to signal to the waiter (because your mouth is full) that you would like another beer, you as a guest will receive a first class instruction that such a gesture is not accepted in this restaurant and you must order differently. I wonder how guests who actually behave unfriendly are treated. Unacceptable for me and the reason why I will not visit this restaurant again. Since when do small children not count as people and don't deserve their own space? Why were we even given a place for 8 if the one place is so valuable? Das Al Salam befindet sich jetzt nicht mehr am Ring, sondern am sehr schönen Eifelplatz. Man sitzt nicht mehr so großzügig wie früher, die Tische stehen ziemlich dicht aneinander. Die Geräuschkulisse ist etwas hoch. Das Essen war hervorragend, die beiden verschiedenen Hummus-Gerichte sogar Weltklasse. Die Preise sind der Qualität angemessen, die Portionen sehr reichlich.

Excellent Arabic cuisine with a focus on Lebanon and Morocco in an Arabian Nights atmosphere. There are even a few more unusual dishes that I haven't been able to find in any other Arabic restaurant in Europe. The appetizers in particular are delicious! The service staff are extremely friendly, sometimes you just wish they had a little more attention when it comes to empty drinks or refills.

We were extremely enthusiastic about the food, but after 2 hours the waitress asked us when we would leave because of double occupancy. We found this very inappropriate, especially since the two of us left over €120 for the evening and were just about to order dessert. Too bad!

Yesterday we went to Al Salam for the first time with friends and absolutely loved it. Excellent, varied cuisine, very tasty cocktails (we mostly drank non-alcoholic drinks), delicious open red wine and warm, very charming service. This restaurant is run with heart and passion and we can recommend it to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the diversity of Arabic cuisine. Thank you for letting us be your guests - we'll be back!

The two of us came here for dinner at 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday evening and already knew Al Salam from the previous location. The starters were very tasty and the first drink order was brought quickly. The starters were accompanied by a small greeting from the kitchen, bread was also brought quickly and warm upon request. The two main courses were very attractively presented and tasted great. However, the dessert and the mocha that accompanied it were not on a par with the previous dishes and drinks: the kunafa had not been soaked enough with sugar syrup for us, so the middle seemed a bit dry and sometimes too savory. Kunafa (according to the menu approx. 20 minutes preparation time) and mocha were ordered together. The dessert came, the mocha was still missing, but when asked, it was brought promptly. In my opinion the mocha had... not enough time to steep, so that the coffee grounds were not able to steep sufficiently and develop their flavor and therefore did not settle sufficiently. The note of cardamom was also so overwhelming that we didn't taste much of the coffee. The meal started with two highlights, but unfortunately the end couldn't keep up. The service was very nice, but the attention followed the course of the meal: at 6:30 p.m. the restaurant was still quite empty, we were asked several times if we would like anything else or if everything was OK. As the meal progressed, the restaurant became fuller, the "visits" of the service staff became less frequent, or both service staff came at short intervals after each other; there was apparently a lack of coordination or table allocation. So my tea, which I had ordered right at the beginning of the visit (consisting of a tray, tea cup, sugar cup and jug) was on the table until shortly before the end of the meal, although the tables are rather small. I would like to comment on the following neutral to (for us) negative points: the ambience is rather uninspired compared to the previous location, but that is very subjective. We sat at the window facing the roundabout, the windows and frames were covered all around with transparent packing tape, but it still felt cold inside; We both felt the temperature was a bit too low. The request to pay was quickly complied with, but the card payment device was immediately held out to me, and an invoice or something similar was only brought to me - in a friendly but apparently irritated manner - when I specifically asked. The many positive impressions, especially the selection of food and drinks as well as their taste, were unfortunately clouded by the points mentioned above - a strong start, a weaker end.

The experience was truly extraordinary and exceeded all expectations. Every single component of the menu was thought out down to the smallest detail and offered a fascinating combination of flavors and textures that created a real taste explosion. The service was also remarkable: extremely attentive, warm and professional. We were there today spontaneously with a short-term reservation. The restaurant offers a nice atmosphere and very tasty food as well as courteous service. Highly recommended!

It was our first time at Al Salam and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is very stylish and modern, but still cozy. The service was very attentive and courteous. The food was of very high quality and very tasty. The Lebanese wines are also recommended. Next time I'll try one of the numerous and delicious-sounding cocktails :).

Food was great, ambience was OK, although I used to think it was nicer. Service (owner!) was completely rude and condescending for no reason, which is why we probably won't be coming back. It's a shame.

We got a table at short notice for New Year's Eve. From start to finish everything was perfect. Every meal we ordered was a dream from the Arabian Nights. We sat right in front of the kitchen and were lucky enough to watch the preparation Star restaurants can take an example of how things work there. Very tasty food, we really enjoyed every dish. Very good and courteous service. For example, my friend's gluten intolerance was taken into account and some of the dishes were adapted. All in all we spent a very nice evening there.

The Al Salam is a real highlight in Cologne! The dishes are authentic, fresh and full of flavor - I was particularly impressed by the mezze and the tender meat on the grill plate. There are also perfectly coordinated cocktails that are prepared both creatively and to a high quality and go perfectly with the food. Absolute Banger!! Levantine Cuisine cooked by Mama Nazzal and her whole Family with Family recipes only and a lot of. The whole Team is super on Point and they also have a equally great Cocktail Programm. Besides their Hospitality quality’s the Family is also strong in the community work and dedicated to spread their message of peace which is the literal translation of their restaurants name Al Salam.
