Al Salam in Köln

Wir waren zu dritt fort und haben draußen gesessen. Man sitzt dort angenehm. Das Essen war ganz gut, aber in keiner Weise außergewöhnlich - wie es hier so oft beschrieben wird. Ist jedoch sicher auch Geschmacksache. Was uns jedoch im Nachhinein geärgert hat: die Getränkepreise und die dazugehörende Qualität. Der Provence/Gin Cocktail für zwölf Euro, war zwar anfangs lecker, jedoch so stark mit Eis gefüllt, dass er in kürzester Zeit nur noch laff schmeckte. Die Weine für um die sechs Euro (für 1 cl.!) eher belanglos und daher viel zu teuer. Insgesamt eher eine Enttäuschung, insbesondere hinsichtlich des Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnisses. die Rezension wurde rechtlich beanstandet vom Inhaber und von google zuerst nicht veröffentlicht. Nach Widerspruch wurde sie freigegeben

Es war ein unglaublich leckeres Essen. Angefangen von der Vorspeise bis zum Dessert. Das milchkalb ist so zart gewesen und die cocktails wow 😍 werden definitiv öfter vorbei schauen. Ah und der Service 🥰 man fühlt sich rundum wohl. Sehr sehr höfliche und nette Gastgeber.

Der Abend im Al Salam war insgesamt einfach nur wunderbar. Wir haben jede Minute genossen und waren am Abend die letzten, die das Restaurant verlassen haben. Wir hatten davor schon einige sehr gute Restaurants besucht und auch vorzügliche Hausmannskost aus dem arabischen wie auch internationalen Raum genossen - daher war eine gute Basis für den Vergleich vorhanden. Das Essen - mit viel Liebe zum Detail und hochwertigsten Zutaten hergerichtet, das schöne Ambiente und der professionelle, herzliche Service im Al Salam haben uns überwältigt. Einen besseren Einblick in die palästinensische (Ess-)Kultur kann ich mir nicht vorstellen. Wir kommen wieder!

Fantastisch. Haute cuisine. Das hatte ich hier so nicht erwartet. Und dann kam die Überraschung bei dem ausgewählten Gericht: eine Tajin (ähnlich einem Römertopf) mit dem Tagesfang Seeteufel war mit Dill angerichtet worden. Das hatte ich bei einem orientalischen Restaurant nicht erwartet. Man kann hier also komplett überrascht werden. Das finde ich sehr positiv. Die Bedienungen waren auch sehr auskunftsfreudig und konnten sehr viel über die lokale libanesische und palästinensische Küche erzählen.

Arabische Küche am Eifelplatz. Die Karte ist angenehm übersichtlich. Die Preise sind verhältnismäßig hoch. Für ein Menü sollten Gäst:innen mindestens 50 Euro einplanen. Zu Stoßzeiten wird es schnell voll. Ich empfehle, zu reservieren. Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Portionen ausreichend groß. Das Team war sehr freundlich und professionell. Bezahlen konnte ich bequem per Kreditkarte. Auch American Express wird akzeptiert.

Waren heute zum Abendessen bei Al Salam zu Besuch und haben lange nicht mehr so gut gegessen. Wir hatten das Menü 1 für zwei Personen und alles hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Gestern Abend waren wir zum Dinner hier und möchten eine klare Empfehlung aussprechen. Die arabische Küche esse ich recht selten, hier wurde ich so begeistert, dass ich doch etwas öfter dieses genre genießen sollte. Wir hatten die Zusammenstellung von 8 Gerichten zu 2t, bei der man 4 verschieden Vorspeisen und 4 Hauptgänge zusammen probieren kann und es war köstlich. Allerdings sollte man viel Hunger mitbringen, die Menge war sehr groß. Mein Dessert habe ich nicht geschafft. Die Qualität, Zusammenstellung und die Gewürze, herrlich. Die Cocktailkarte ist wunderbar, wir kommen undbedingt wieder. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und absolut perfekt. Vielen Dank.

Es ist nicht möglich, dass ihr keine Speisekarte auf Englisch habt. Im Allgemeinen ist das Essen sehr gut (Vorspeisen und Desserts), aber die Fleischplatte war für mich schrecklich: Das Fleisch hatte überhaupt keinen Geschmack, weder das Rind noch das Lamm – vom Hähnchen ganz zu schweigen.

Wir haben mit zwei Familien das Al Salam anlässlich einer Examensfeier erstmals in seinen neuen Räumen besucht. Phantastisch. Die Küche strotzt weiter vor orientalischer Geschmacksvielfalt. Auch die opulente Cocktailkarte ist erhalten geblieben, das Ambiente heller und freundlicher. Nach wie vor ein sehr zuvorkommender und kenntnisreicher Service.

Wir haben zu fünft fie verschiedenen Mezze genommen als Vorspeise und dann jeder ein anderes Hauptgericht - vegetarisch und mit Fleisch. Alles sehr lecker. Für den Wein wurden mehrere vorgestellt und ich durfte kosten. Service tadellos - sehr freundlich ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Geschmackvolle Einrichtung. Persönlich hätte ich gerne etwas orientalische Musik im Hintergrund gehabt, aber das ist vielleicht nichts für die lokale Klientel. Aber auf jedenfalls eine Adresse bei der man nichts falsch machen kann.

I found this restaurant online for our anniversary and wanted to try it out with my wife... Without exaggeration, it's the BEST restaurant in a long time, worthy of the title "restaurant"! A cult spot for lovers of overpriced children's portions with a Middle Eastern flair. I and my companion went to this, I must admit, luxuriously decorated establishment. The receptionist didn't keep us waiting long before showing us to our seats, near a hipster crowd. I confess that I dined at the old location a few years ago, and I found the offerings acceptable back then. What I didn't find acceptable was the experience I'm describing this time. The waiter, a very attentive man, took our cocktail orders. For a whopping €14 a drink, you get a Middle Eastern-inspired taste of something, served in a vessel that looks appealing but holds the size of a thimble. Thus, within 10 minutes, Al Salam managed to annoy us while simultaneously preparing us for what was still to come: the food. Aside from the fact that it's not easy to impress my connoisseur palate, and it's difficult to prepare anything better than I would anyway, the food was an absolute disgrace. With (main) course prices of up to over €30, I expect more than five sad venison meatballs, each the size of a grape, or two pieces of veal, each weighing 50 grams, served on a dessert plate. Assuming a normal adult, there's no feeling of fullness (unless you're talking about an eating disorder). Regarding the preparation, I don't have anything particularly positive to report here. In summary, Al Salam is perfect if you want to go home €100 lighter. And that's exactly the problem facing the restaurant industry right now.

We know Al Salam from its old location on the Ring. It was never possible to get a table without a reservation on a Saturday. With their first-class service and delicious dishes, they've done just that at their new location. The drinks are very good. They've even won awards for them. The very friendly staff were attentive and helpful. Questions about drinks or food were answered patiently, or, if there was a lack of information, answered later after obtaining it. The wait was also manageable, and a welcome drink from the kitchen (olives, yogurt, and crusty bread) was served beforehand. This was our first visit, but definitely not our last. Al Salam offers high-quality Arabic dishes that you won't find everywhere. The hummus (a classic that no Arabic restaurant should be without) was very tender compared to other restaurants. The fish was also excellent, the salad had a convincing sweet and sour composition, and the meat was tender. Everything was top-notch! The staff was extremely friendly and brilliantly knowledgeable. Any ambiguities were immediately clarified. It was a very pleasant evening on the beautiful terrace. Everything is taken care of. If you're cold, you get a blanket, etc. The concept of sharing several smaller portions is wonderful, as you can try everything. And the "small" portions were more than enough! The price is on the higher side, which is something you're happy to accept for such a lovely evening.

The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Culinarily, everything was absolutely convincing: the Hummus & Burrata Oriental and the Musakhan (Label Rouge corn-fed chicken prepared Palestinian-style) were excellent – ​​well-balanced, full of flavor, and clearly high quality. The non-alcoholic cocktails were also very well done. For dessert, we had Madlouka – pleasantly sweet, fruity, with pistachios, and just right after such a meal. A particularly nice touch: Mohammad Nazzal personally welcomed us, and we had a relaxed chat about this and that – it made the evening feel even more personal. Thank you! We’ll definitely be back – and fully intend to work our way through the menu, bit by bit. For us, currently one of the best places in Cologne for modern oriental cuisine.

The quality is a bit different from the usual oriental offerings in Cologne. However, the price reflects this. Definitely delicious!

About a year ago, we came here for dinner and were very satisfied. When we heard they also offer breakfast, we decided to try it. Unfortunately, we were completely dissatisfied with the concept, the service, and the taste. Cold tea, unfriendly service, and breakfast, which was served bit by bit, arrived at the end of our reservation time. You can't enjoy dessert there because it takes ages to be served. On top of that, the glasses are dirty. In short, absolutely not recommended.

Unfortunately, it was an absolute disaster. We were very excited about the new brunch offering and were disappointed. The unfriendly and uncomprehending service is a real disaster in the restaurant industry. You can choose between two breakfast options. One includes 9 dishes (€29 per person) "chosen by the kitchen team," and the other 13 dishes (€49 per person). We opted for 9 dishes, including a coffee/tea. These are set meals. I ordered tea, and my cup and the other cups at the table were only half filled—why large cups if you're only serving half anyway? After we ordered, part of our order arrived about 20 minutes later (see photo). They didn't say what was coming next, so we were left wondering if that was all there was to it. We had hoped that olive oil and za'atar weren't actually described as a "dish" and couldn't ask, as the waiter never came to the table. After another 15 minutes, sucuk and beef bacon arrived – very poorly presented and unfortunately, probably too dry (I'm a vegetarian myself). Another 15 minutes later, shakshuka arrived. And another 15/20 minutes later, another dish, so that an hour after ordering, we finally had our table (almost) full. When I then pointed out to the waiter that it was really unfortunate not to communicate that another dish was coming and that we would have to wait so long for it – despite the set menu, mind you! – he just cheekily replied, asking if I expected them to focus solely on our table. There were only two waiters on duty, and someone in the kitchen was also absent. That can happen, of course, but an apology for the delays or something along those lines would have been more appropriate… Simply cheeky! So, unfortunately, breakfast here was definitely not enjoyable; you wait and wait and don't even know what the "kitchen team's choice" is today. Another negative aspect was that after clearing the dessert, new cutlery was placed on the table and NOT wiped down. (See photo) The table was covered in crumbs, which is no surprise given the microscopic plates we had. So, for a place that advertises itself as somewhat finer and charges accordingly, the service was simply poor. We didn't want to wait forever for dessert and had it wrapped up. At home, it turned out that the pudding was probably partially burnt and therefore tasted burnt. There was NO trace of the nuts that were supposed to be between the pancakes – as described on their Instagram account! All in all: There will definitely not be another visit.

The food is excellent—fresh, creative, yet traditional. The tables are just a bit too small for everything you order. We eventually placed our plates on the empty table next to us.

The restaurant had existed elsewhere (on the Ring) for decades. After a lengthy renovation, the good old Casa di Biase has received a worthy successor, but with a completely different program! The oriental cuisine is amazing. We never really know if everything is authentic, but no matter, it tastes very good. The sharing concept, so popular these days, is actively supported here. That's a good thing, because it allows you to try a variety of dishes. Be careful, the portions are quite large, so if in doubt, order more later. The prices are fair, including for the wine. The service is very attentive. The ambiance is pleasant. There are also lower tables and seating in the front section, which could be problematic for taller visitors. In summer, you can also sit outside.
