Picturesque little traditional Italian wine and light dinner bistrot, one of the most favourite places among experienced wine lovers in Berlin

I wouldn't come back for the food. Al Contadino always tries to offer something new on the lunch menu, which I really appreciate, but unfortunately, the kitchen isn't up to the task of harmoniously implementing these ideas. The service, etc., is friendly. All in all, a very average Italian restaurant, especially for its location.

It was practically a religious experience. The quality of the burrata, the mozzarella delicata, the olive oil, the bread, the pasta, the wine... everything was at least worthy of three Michelin stars. Stefan and Samir were incredibly welcoming; we ended up chatting over shots about Italian culture, their love for the land, and their zest for life. Thank you for making an evening into something almost artistic. If you've lived in Italy, you must go to this place. If you've never been, well, it's a little piece of southern Italy in Berlin.

What a fantastic place! The food was excellent, not least because the menu went far beyond pasta. The atmosphere is lovely – small, cozy, and warm. But the service was truly outstanding! The waiters were so friendly and welcoming; it made our entire evening even more enjoyable.

If you want insane Italian food, this is the joint. I had the pumpkin filled Cocoa Ravioli with sage butter sauce and it was one of my meals of the year. Partner had a burrata with salmon and bruschetta and it was amazing. If you have the chance, go.

Wonderful mozzarella bar with delicious cheeses and very friendly staff! We had the Grande degustazione con mozzarelle shared. My favourite was the burrata and the ricotta di bufala was a close second.

Burata way below expectations… we drove there especially to try it but we got better burrata elsewhere for fraction of the price.

The staff were quite arrogant and not helpful when we tried to find a table. The burrata tasted somewhat like glue, and the bread wasn’t completely fresh.

I ate the dish of the day and enjoyed it.

Such a wonderful place to eat and such amazing people to be served by. I was a klutz and showed up super late to my reservation and they made a table for us on the spot. So kind and friendly and the food is delicious too. All around great place:)

Very tasty food – we had the pasta of the day (gnocchi with truffle filling) and the vegetarian lasagna! Highly recommended, simply because it was so good. Service was okay – but the frequent questions at short intervals were a bit too much of a good thing. Con: No card payments accepted.

The antipasti plate (vegetarian) was delicious and definitely enough for two people! The ricotta and eggplant were especially great! The drinks were also delicious, but the service wasn't particularly friendly or accommodating. You should make a reservation here to get a good spot in the sun. Good for people-watching in Mitte :))

Magic place. My partner and I had an amazing experience and night . The food was incredibly good, from the bufala gusto deciso, to the ravioli with caprino, cannelloni with salmone and more. Everything was perfect. The stuff, especially the waitress were too kind and welcoming . I missed a service like that for a long time. Special thank to Samir for the Grappa tasting and for the chat. I also appreciated the elegant music in the background. We’ll definitely be back :))

Nice Italian - hot spot in Mitte!

Always nice. Everything is perfect here from the food, service, location. Above all, the service always manages to organize a table for us, even when it's extremely busy. Feel free to come by at any time!

We were there for dinner with 5 people, had the large mozzarella starters and then various different main courses. The food is good and tasty, the portion sizes are rather small (especially for the main courses) and the prices are medium - higher compared to what you get. But it's all about the taste and it was good. Nice location, nice ambience. However, it is quite narrow, the tables are very close together. The service is ok, but nothing more. What doesn't work at all: 1) Tight time slot for eating despite prior reservation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. can be tight with 2 or more courses, especially if you have to wait longer for service and then want to finish the bottle of wine in peace 2) It is, however, cheeky when, 20 minutes before the end of the time slot (i.e. 7:40 p.m.), the waiter asks to “move them together a bit” so that new guests can get one of the three tables for two that have been pushed together. Either 2 hours or not, but that's not possible and leaves the impression that it's just about getting as many guests through as quickly as possible, and the guest's experience is irrelevant. That's why we won't be coming back and the rating can only be bad, despite the taste of the food being good.

A great experience at Al Contadino Mozzarella Bar & Bottega in Berlin! We were lucky enough to book a table at Al Contadino, a traditional Italian restaurant that is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant is not big, but the atmosphere is incredibly cozy and authentic. The Italian staff contributes to the entire experience, and the decor is perfectly in line with Italian culture. The tables are small, but fit in well with the traditional style. What also struck us was the nice music at the right volume – you don’t have to worry about other guests, even when the restaurant is full. The temperature was also ideal, and we noticed that the limited menu is actually a strength, because everything is prepared with so much love and perfection. We had made a reservation in advance (which is recommended, because the restaurant was full), and that turned out to be necessary. When we arrived, we saw that there were people who unfortunately could not be seated anymore. As for the food: we started with the burrata with tomato and basil and the oven-baked eggplant with tomato sauce – delicious and authentic dishes. For the main course we chose the pasta of the week, gnocchi with truffle goat cheese and parmesan cheese, and the tortilli with shrimp and tomato sauce. All tasty and well prepared! The dessert was a panna cotta with a dessert wine, and we ended the evening with a real Italian espresso. Everything we ate was PERFECT. I have never eaten such delicious Italian food. What really made this experience special was the staff. They knew everything about the dishes and could advise us in detail. It was clear that they enjoyed their work and were proud of the business. Their enthusiasm made the evening complete. All in all it was a perfect dinner. We have no points of improvement, because everything was exactly as it should be. If you are in Berlin, you should definitely visit Al Contadino – but make sure to book in advance! We will definitely come back when we are in the city again!

Nice mozzarella bar with a pretty awesome atmosphere ☺️ The service is friendly and well-rehearsed. The mozzarella and buratta were fresh (the inside was still creamy), the forcachia was still warm and the grilled vegetables were crunchy. I paid €28 for the small tasting plus grilled vegetables and a beer and will definitely come back. Card payment possible, you should make a reservation.

The service is very good, you can feel the Italian touch in many aspects and the food is very tasty and there is a good selection of wine.

We were guests spontaneously and got a table even without a reservation. The house wine is delicious, the bread was super tasty and still hot. The lasagne was very tasty, the green tortellini were in a tomato sauce with fresh tomatoes, which could have been seasoned more. All in all a real Italian restaurant with delicious, fresh dishes :)

The products are of excellent quality. It’s a cozy place, not very big, so I strongly recommend booking in advance. It’s located in a charming corner of Berlin and is well-connected by public transport, not far from Alexanderplatz. The food is delicious, and the staff are incredibly courteous, attentive, and truly knowledgeable. They recommended a wine pairing with a dish that I chose, and I was very pleased. In the photos, you can see the two different boards, the "Lucano" and the "Emilia"—top quality, really: they mean business here.

It wasn’t a terrible experience, but definitely overpriced. €45 for two mozzarellas and three glasses of house wine is far too much. The mozzarella wasn’t even of high quality, just average. The service wasn’t the best either. The only positive note is that the interior of the place is nice, but that alone doesn’t justify the high prices.

Such a beautiful place! You suddenly feel like you're on vacation. Incredibly friendly and attentive waiters, delicious food and, in my opinion, absolutely fair prices for this quality! Even though we were there way too early, we were offered an aperitif and apologized several times that the place wasn't free yet, which isn't a problem 30 minutes before the reservation. A super nice restaurant in the heart of Berlin. If you like modern Italian cuisine, this is the place for you. You won't necessarily find Italian classics here, but the dishes I tried were high quality and super tasty. Definitely worth a visit. The slightly different Italian with the theme of mozzarella and wine. Both are very good here and available in various combinations. It was my first time here and I really enjoyed the food. The rooms are somewhat small, quaint and cozy. Because of this, make a reservation in any case, otherwise you have little chance of staying here.

Very good place especially the atmosphere and especially in the summers. A little too tight on the inside with space but their food and wine selection is quite good. But their drinks in the park is what really defines this place.

We, my daughter and I, were guests in the authentic Italian restaurant today. We didn't have a reservation and were greeted very politely and were able to choose a table. That's the way it has to be. We were happy to accept the recommendations for the dishes and were not disappointed. All dishes were freshly prepared and were of excellent quality. Of course we like to take a little time with us. If I want my food quickly, I'll go to the Chinese restaurant. You can take your time here, chat, you're never hassled by the staff, great. The price-performance ratio is also okay and I pay a fair price for great food. In short: We will definitely be back, even from Leipzig. Thank you very much.

Excellent food at relatively fair prices. Only the champagne-drinking and Rolex-wearing business graduates are really annoying, so one star is deducted. Apart from that, nice atmosphere, especially the outdoor area on Auguststrasse.

After we sat down in one of the many free seats on Sunday and weren't served for about 10 minutes, we asked the waiter very politely if we could order something. (He saw us and ignored us several times) He then shouted at us that we should wait if we didn't have any reservations. At the other table there was a family who didn't make a reservation and were served very friendly by the waiter (who sat down after us) You can also politely point out that you should wait (for whatever reason, when unannounced guests come before you). He shouted at us and treated us like dirt. I think it's a shame that an obviously racist waiter ruined my entire stay in Berlin and no one in the shop came to help. Of course we got up straight away and got something to eat somewhere else! If I could give 0 stars I would!

We were thrilled with the advertising on Instagram. We didn't like the presentation of a ball of naked mozzarella in one bowl and the anchovies in another. Likewise the prices for them. We didn't expect it like that. Well, that's just how it is with expectations. But in our eyes it's not a highlight.

The food is so basic , mozzarella with grilled veggies was very poor. There are much better Italian restaurants in Berlin with delicious mozzarella.

I booked a table for me and a friend on Saturday lunch time. Long story short: • The waiter's demeanour towards us was dismissive. Explaining: when we were ordering, he was looking around and seemed quite impatient with us, and when I asked particular questions about salad ingredients, he was not really listening and was telling the irrelevant to my question matters, and almost hurrying to take the order he totally misheard. Then, when we were asking the additional glass of wine and then the bill, he proceed with his attitude of impatience and neglect. The salad I took was the Ruccola salad, with walnuts, pear slices and hard cheese. I acknowledge that it is exactly how it is written in the menu, and this is all what is in the salad is about. The bowl was full of Ruccola, on the top - bunch of whole walnuts. slices of pear and several big pieces of Parmesan. No additional stuff, no dip, only olive oil from the table (which is I'm not quite sure is extra virgin olive oil, judging by its taste). Would not say that it felt like the salad was prepared with care, this Parmesan big pieces was cut like in a hurry. And this salad of 4 ingredients (93% Ruccola) costed €12.5 euro. BUT it is not the main reason why I put only 2 stars. The MAIN reason is that we took 3 glasses of “Haus Wein”, which costed €7 per 200ml glass, but in our bill we found another wine: which costed €13.5 per 200ml glass. So instead of €21 euro for wine, in the bill was €40.5 (plus dishes, of course). We can only guess how exactly this unfortunate mistake was made on the part of the restaurant, or on the part of above waiter. But the only thing we can be sure of - is to be cautions and always check the bill. Like we, luckily, did.

The food was delicious! We had mozzarella to start and a lovely pasta dish as the main. Since it was so busy with a queue almost constantly coming out the door it was quite stressful to sit outside. I guess we had bad timing bc the sun was out and everyone was drinking aperol at the park close by. It was also hard to get the attention of the waiter to order or pay. The waiter was however very nice. Overall we still enjoyed the food and would go back.
