The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Unfortunately we had to wait longer for our food, but it was 100% worth it. You can taste that everything is homemade and freshly prepared and the taste is a 10/10.

Good Japanese restaurant. When I made my reservation by phone, I was informed that due to staffing reasons, the food would take a while to arrive. The statement was also repeated on site but the speed was perfectly fine (we had some time). Very tasty, the service was also very friendly.

The place is dark and not comfortable at all. You sit on bar stools and the heating was off so it was very cold! But the service is good and attentive and the sushi is really delicious 👍!

I decided on the curry beef and can say; That was the best meat I've ever eaten. Ginger tea is also a great choice after a meal. It's not without reason that this little Japanese shop is rated so well, because the food is 100% worth it!!! Very happy again.

I went to this place because the one we wanted to go to first was too full, since it still had space and later we found out that it hadn't been open that long, so we decided not to wait anymore because it was so cold . In short, I am thrilled with the ramen there, I almost ate the bowl. We will definitely come back and hope that when it gets full the quality doesn't deteriorate.

Japanese food is not just about sushi and this is masterfully proven in this simply furnished restaurant. The sushi is excellent, but should only be ordered as a side dish or starter, as there is a great selection of warm dishes to suit every taste. Special recommendations as starters are the Agadashi tofu and the softshell crab. The bento box with salmon is a great option for lunch. As a main course you should try the curry schnitzel with a subtle spiciness. The rice dishes with great beef steak, salmon or chicken legs are also well prepared. The soups with udon noodles or ramen are to die for Tempura always comes to the table crunchy with a great breading. I can't stop raving. This has been my favorite restaurant in Cologne for years. Five stars plus an extra star for the great hostess.

I had already eaten at the Akira restaurant about 3 years ago and now had the opportunity to dine there again. This time I tried the fresh sashimi and I have to say it was really excellent. The fish was very fresh and tasted super delicious! The portion was sized just right, so I was pleasantly full at the end. The service was friendly and also very attentive. All in all, I'm very satisfied and would love to come back :)

Delicious Japanese food in a small shopfront. Not many tables. Very quiet on a weeknight. The waitress was very friendly and was very busy walking downstairs to bring food from the kitchen. I'd recommend the teriyaki salmon. Perfectly cooked! If I lived here it would probably be a regular spot. Casual and tasty

Simply outstanding food! The curry katsu is crisp, crunchy and simply delicious. The place is small and not the fastest: there is only one server and perhaps only one cook? But it was worth the wait!

We were looking for dinner on Saturday evening through Cologne in the Belgian quarter. More or less after a few failed attempts to get a place somewhere we ended up at Akira, what can I say, what luck. We both thought it was great. We had the udon and the shin soup with ramen. Wow, both really tasty and enough. Simple, nice atmosphere but great food and a very friendly and courteous boss! Lovely again!

I ate here August 2023 Since my trip to Japan, I have been in Cologne looking for the perfect Katsudon, which I also ordered here. Unfortunately, the egg on top was completely cooked through and everything was very dry And the rice tasted like brown rice, which has a very strong taste of its own and was completely different from the sticky, white rice we know from Japan. This just totally ruined the taste for me. The meat wasn't the tastiest either and was very tough. I also ordered a cocktail and I think they put something other than pure liquor in it just for the color. With every sip I felt like I wouldn't be able to walk home again today. So she meant very well for us. After the request to make the cocktail a little weaker, it was changed minimally. I didn't dare ask again :( unfortunately I had to leave it alone However, the ambience of the store is really good and the service itself is really nice. It's clean and they play cool jazz and the lights are very inviting.

100% real japanese restaurant. Great food and friendly service. Try their Bento options, the many excellent starters, or my favorite: the Unagi Don. To finish I can recommend the sesame or matcha ice cream or (and!) a glass of umeshu.

Well, first thing: the food tastes really good and authentic. Also big portion with good price. One of the best in Cologne. Their chicken katsu is made from chicken thigh so the meat is very juicy. However, service is standard, and unfortunately it takes very long until you get your food. I came there twice already and needed to wait for about 45-50 minutes for two menus. So if you're really hungry or do not have much time, better find another option. Furthermore, if you're coming with kids, just beware that the restaurant is not really kids friendly. The table and chairs are bar-style, it is not suitable for small kids. there are no kids high chair and no changing table for babies in the restroom. All in all, I will still come there again anytime I'm craving for bento or katsu.

Eine tolle Neuentdeckung für uns - super leckeres Essen, super freundliche Bedienung und ein tolles asiatisches Ambiente. Es ist relativ klein, man sollte reservieren, aber es war eine tolle Erfahrung und wir kommen mit Sicherheit wieder :-)

Akira is a tiny restaurant with high-seat tables available for about 16-18 guests at a time. But Omg is it delicious here! Just steps away from Friesenplatz, on the corner of Hildebald Platz & Klapperhof. Only inside seating is available. The menu is extensive, especially for such a small place, ranging from cold & hot appetizers, plenty of fresh sushi choices, a full page of Ramen & udon soup options... We tried two hot appetizers (hot kimchi with fried tofu & the prawn tempura). Both were amazingly delicious. For main course we tried the udon soup with beef (so many tender and delicious slices!) & one Ramen soup with veggies and gyoza. Both were the best tasting noodle soups we had in a really long time. Japanese beer, wine and spirits are also on offer! Loved it!

Really good really traditional Japanese food. It is hard to come by a good Japanese place. Quality of food is great, the atmosphere was quiet and service was good. Don’t miss this place if you visit köln and want to try something different away from the crowds.

Das Akira bietet eine sehr schöne, ruhige und japanisch authentische Atmosphäre in der Innenstadt. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und das Essen war bisher immer sehr, sehr lecker und preislich mehr als angemessen. Die Auswahl ist groß und bietet von Sushi über Reisgerichte zu Nudelsuppen und Bowls alles, was man sich von einem japanischen Menü wünscht. Ich persönlich kann die Unagi Don sehr empfehlen. Dazu Gyoza und eine Misosuppe. Einfach perfekt! Das Foto zeigt allerdings eine Steak Don, die ebenfalls ausgezeichnet ist.

Eins von meinen Lieblingsrestaurants in Köln. Essen sind super authentisch, ich liebe das Steak Bento und Chicken Katsu. Service ist immer freundlich, man muss halt hier ein bisschen für das Essen warten, aber es lohnt sich immer!

This restaurant serves soups, sushi and meat dishes in all variations. If you want real Japanese food, I doubt you won't be able to find anything you like on the menu. But better book in advance since there are only a few tables in the restaurant. But the food is well worth it.

Ich weiß nicht, ob wir an dem Tag einfach nur Pech hatten. Mein letzter Besuch im Akira ist schon etwas länger Jahre her und ich dachte, ich besuche es mal wieder nach einigen Jahren mit Freunden. Wir bestellten einige Vorspeisen (Karaage, Gyoza, etc.), eine Miso-Ramensuppe und ein Reisgericht. Die Karaage waren sehr fettig und die Ramensuppe einfach geschmacksneutral, als hätte man das Gemüse mit einem einzelnen Gyoza einfach in kochendes Wasser gegeben und das als Ramensuppe verkauft. Das Reisgericht war ganz in Ordnung. Wir haben uns nicht wirklich wohlgefühlt und werden auch vorerst nicht mehr wiederkommen.

Das Akira ist ein kleines, sehr leckeres japanisches Restaurant zwischen Belgischem und Neustadt Nord. Der Service ist extrem freundlich und zuvorkommend. Schon bei der Reservierung wird darauf hingewiesen, ob der Platz des Tisches (an der Tür oder im hinteren Teil) ok wäre. Eine Reservierung ist auf jeden Fall sinnvoll, da der Laden meistens gut besucht ist. Die Speisen sind absolut super! Die Auswahl von Bentoboxen, über japanisches Curry hin zu Sushi sind sehr abwechslungsreich und lecker. Das Essen ist stets frisch und aromatisch! Eine Auswahl Tees oder jap. Biere runden die Auswahl ab. Das Ambiente ist einfach eingerichtet, die große Bar zieht sich durch den halben Raum, um die man sitzt. Die Küche befindet sich unten, an der Bar werden eher die Getränke zubereitet. Die Einrichtung könnte noch etwas traditioneller/dekorativer sein, was jedoch bei dem leckeren Essen Nebensache ist. Ich komme gerne jederzeit wieder!

Best Katsukare Ive ever had. Authentic small japanese restaurant in the middle of cologne.

Meine Freundin hat ihren Geburtstag in ihrem Stammlokal hier gefeiert. Sehr leckeres und frisches Essen. Ich habe eine Bento Bowl bestellt und man bekommt sehr viel versch. kleine Komponenten dazu. Der eine Cocktail mit Lychee war sehr lecker. Dazu eine nette Bedienung. Die Atmosphäre ist eher ruhig und wenig stimmungsvoll, fand ich aber nicht so schlimm :) Ich komme gerne wieder!

Einer der besten Sushi-Läden in Köln. Alles war sehr lecker und wir haben mehrere Sachen nachbestellt, da wir nicht genug davon kriegen konnten. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

I went in around 13:30, the last customer. The ambient was supper quiet, low Volumen music (perfect). I ordered and first they gave me a cup of misso soup(courtesy of the house) really simple, but tasty , and a few minutes after the Tori Teriyaki, was good in general the only thing is the sauce maybe too sweet for my taste.

Sehr gemütliches japanisches Lokal. Vielfältiges Angebot zu fairen Preisen. Klein gehalten dadurch muss unbedingt vorher eine telefonische Reservierung erfolgen. Qualität der Speisen war sehr gut. Für kleine Kinder eher ungeeignet, da die Sitzgelegenheiten sehr hoch sind.

相对隐蔽的一家小店，里面只有五六张桌子，老板娘一个人跑上跑下，出菜很快，服务非常到位。 菜单很均衡，有不错的刺身，猪排咖喱饭是招牌，有淡淡的梅子味道。牛排乌冬很鲜，很适合冬天。菠菜配了有口感分明的芝麻酱，也是值得推荐的小菜。 记得提前定位子。

Kleines japanisches Restaurant, deshalb Reservierung sinnvoll. Wirklich sehr leckeres Essen. Ich hatte das Gericht mit gebratenem Schweinefleisch und kimchi auf Reis. Die Bento Box war auch sehr gut. Danach das Matscha Eis, dies war ok. Die Kellnerin/Besitzerin (?) ist auch sehr nett und hat uns noch ein Tisch gegeben für 1 1/2 Stunden, obwohl wir nicht reserviert hatten und es sonst ausgebucht war. Bisschen wirkte sie sehr gestresst, zu gestresst, obwohl es nicht voll war. Als Tipp kann ich nur geben, dass es nicht so schlimm ist, wenn man als Gast Mal 2-3 Minuten warten muss, ist ja kein fast food Restaurant :) Komme definitiv wieder!

Wir waren immer sehr zufrieden! Das Essen ist sehr gut und authentisch (mein Mann war sehr oft in Japan und kann es bestätigen). Sehr netter Service (es ist nur eine Frau - die Chefin - die ständig die Speisen aus der Küche von unten holen muss, dennoch sind die Wartezeiten nicht lang). Preis-Leistung passt absolut!

Sehr sehr leckeres japanisches Essen in einem süßen kleinen Laden. Wenn ich einen Stern abziehen müsste, dann höchstens für die Stühle, aber dann würd ich dem Essen auch 6 Sterne geben. Ich werde definitiv noch häufig vorbei schauen. Die Karte beinhaltet einen leckeren Querschnitt durch die japanische Küche und ich will noch vieles dort probieren! Sushi, Bento, Ramen, Curry, Donburis, verschiedenste Vorspeisen... Sehr viel leckeres und ein zu kleiner Magen. :D 美味しいです。

午餐定食太棒了，超级美味！和日本吃到的好像，个人觉得是科隆口味最地道的日料店，从菜单就能看出来是优秀的日本家庭料理，小菜、生鱼片、天妇罗、炸虾、炸鸡块、到牛肉和三文鱼的出品都非常还原，连Hoji茶玄米茶都好喝！服务也很迅速有效率，一定会再次光顾的！这家工作日中午生意特别好，要尽早去，否则要等很久。
