Kuchi Mami in Köln

We went here because of the good reviews and had high expectations, which unfortunately weren't met. We had both sushi and two hot dishes, and everything was below average. Prices and service were okay. Overall, however, I can't recommend it.

This place has the best asian food you can find in Europe. Absolutely delicious. Service is fast, waiters are kind. I’ve had spicy lemongrass tofu, and it was excellent. I would definitely come back here

Good food, fast and friendly service

Dining like you're at a friend's house. I can only agree with the previous reviewers. The food here is truly excellent. For starters, we had (raw) tuna on a bed of avocado and crispy shrimp fried with rice. For the main course, we had two types of fish, crispy fried in soy sauce, and the other simply fried in a churry-peanut sauce. Everything was pleasantly seasoned and well-portioned. We didn't make a reservation and got a table without any problems at 1:30 pm. It was a bit too chilly for the outdoor seating in front of the restaurant. Highly recommended by Don Filippo 👍🤗

The food is fusion cuisine. Solid and good for lunch. We've had better. Still, it's recommendable. The service is a bit slow. They do a good job, but aren't particularly friendly. Overall, we'll come back for a quick and good lunch. For a relaxed evening, no.

Hidden gem of a restaurant with a lovely interior and very friendly, attentive staff. Perhaps it was my choice, but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the food (peanut beef). The meat was too thick and under-seasoned, and the sauce lacked peanut sauce (very little flavor). However, the non-alcoholic cocktail and the appetizer were delicious, and the sushi the other guests were eating looked very good too. :)

Really delicious food for a very good price

I stumbled upon this restaurant quite by chance and was immediately captivated. It's beautifully decorated, the food is absolutely delicious, and the presentation is exquisite. Furthermore, I've rarely been served by such kind, friendly, and warm people! From now on, I'll try to stop by this restaurant every time I visit Cologne, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

The sushi menu for €24 was terrible. Three nigiri were okay. After that, however, there were only pieces with grilled salmon, most of which were deep-fried in a very greasy batter.

You might think it's a tourist trap, but it's not at all! Really great.

Good food, Service is okay. Made a reservation but got only the table close to the door.

We made a reservation for a business lunch for 8 people and when we arrived, we were offered a table for 5. The table was in the middle of the aisle and right by the door, with an outside temperature of 7 degrees Celsius. They weren't willing to seat us properly. We left immediately. It was a real shame.

I went because a friend had made a reservation, so I wouldn't eat the usual German dishes, ever again. I'm not a great food expert, so I can't comment on it, but what I ate wasn't bad. However, the service was lacking at best: a wait to take our order, and an expense to order a second beer. People ordered after us, and the food arrived first. He was supposed to come and take our orders, but he went and got them from someone who arrived later. As for cleanliness, let alone eating street food; eating street food is definitely more hygienic...

The reservation was confirmed quickly. The ambiance is lovely and the food is really good. We'll be back. :)

Authentic cuisine. I had tofu curry. Super flavorful. Cozy. Rather unassuming from the outside, but don't let that put you off. Good value.

A wonderful, comfortably furnished restaurant near Cologne Cathedral. Very friendly and polite service. Whether sushi or Asian main courses: the value, taste, and appearance are really good. Definitely recommend it.

We ate wonderfully. We ordered the beef dish with coconut milk and peanut sauce, which was delicious, but we also had the dish of the day, which was grilled salmon with vegetables and a sauce.

I was in Köln 4 days for Tony Robbin’s. 2 nights I ate here because it was next to the hotel and spent about 300 Euros. Tried almost everything and food was great. The third time I was there at 21.15 and they told me the kitchen closes at 22.00. I then ordered some sushi for first course and special sushi creations that were warm for second course. The waitress told me that the kitchen said I should have everything together because they want to make everything together then close and go home. I insisted that I want to have it as 2 course because there was 52 pieces and I don’t want to have them cold. She said ok and then served me the first course at 21.30. When I got the second course at 21.45 it was cold. I asked the waitress and she said she was sorry because the kitchen made it all together and she can’t do anything about it. I told her the whole point of ordering 2 course was to have warm food, not cold. I got up paid for the food I already had and left. A restaurant should never try to make a fool out of the customers!!!

I ordered tom yum. They brought something similar. It was not prepared tasty, it is not worth the money. I did not like it.

The food was great, nicely served with some decorative smoke. Service was fine, but took quite a while. They didn't ask us if we wanted more drinks during the dinner, while our glasses were empty quite quick. It was quite busy, I understand, but that's a little downside.

The best sushi I've ever eaten. Attentive service and a super-delicious dessert. Despite Gamescom, we got a seat right away without a reservation! Everything was fantastically presented, and last but not least, the price was very reasonable for Cologne. We'll definitely eat here again, love it. ❤️

Unfortunately, I'm absolutely disappointed—everything went wrong right from the reservation stage. We were pretty frustrated and decided to eat somewhere else, where it's a bit quieter and they take more time with their customers.

we are a group of 10 who ate a little differently. the very worst food place I have ever experienced… the service is bad comes and takes the food order first but isn't it normal that they should ask for drinks first?? and not only that, it took about 15 -20 minutes before the drink came.. and when it comes to food, well what can I say, phois tasteless not only that but it doesn't come with hoisin sauce or fresh vegetables like it should be… 1 order soup nr 21 and 22 but they make 2x 21, soup no. 21 is absolutely terrible tasteless it’s like they had just taken the broth from pho and added some flavor from a can… and the spring rolls and rice with meat dish is too spicy too much flavor… I strongly recommend not coming here.

Every dish was perfect. The ingredients were very fresh and well-chosen. The tempura ebi was extremely crispy, and the avocado was creamy to perfection. Everything was simply delicious. We'll definitely be back.

Went here tonight after reading the positive reviews. However, my experience wasn’t so great. I was served cold prawn dumplings for starters, it tasted terrible. The sushi was not so great. I was served my drink very late after asking for it a couple of times and when it arrived the portion was tiny (it was an Aperol spritz) Most of all the service was horrendous. While I didn’t mind waiting for a table, though when it was ready, I was ushered like a dog to hurry up inside. I felt humiliated. Avoid this place.

Great, I can't say more. I've been there about 10 times in total, inviting several friends. It was always beautifully decorated (and the food) and I was always surprised by how delicious it was. I recommend the Crunchy Sushi (once) and the rest from the specials section (where the Buddha Roll is). And for drinks, the Geisha Cocktail, very tasty.

Just a bad experience overall. Food looks nothing like the pictures, ingredients are of a very low quality, and the waiting time to be served unnecessarily long. One vegan and barely any vegetarian dinner options seem like a joke.

It's definitely not 4.8 stars. The sushi was just okay, the service was very slow. Nothing vegan, even when asked. Overpriced for no reason. Seating is outside on the street. Wouldn't come again.

Amazing sushi and all very authentic

I came to this place be sure of the reviews, but left disappointed. I arrived and sat down for about 20 mnts with nobody checking on me or anything. I had to go up to the kitchen area twice to get my order in. After the first 20 mnts I went up and the guy in the kitchen told me to go back to my table that someone would come in. There was only one guy attending to tables and it was busy. After about 10 mnts after I went up to the guy, I went again and a lady came out to take my order. I ordered sweet and sour soup with shrimp, it was okay. And then the main dish, the sick one ( not the curry one) it was good, I warned that it’s probably for 2 ppl. The place requires you to spend at least $20 to use your card. It was a lot of food for the price, which is good I guess, but the service, only one person, and the feeling that you are just bothering them is unacceptable.

Out of this world in the most amazing way! I really adore sushi and every time I get the chance I try a new place and this one was just an amazing experience. Starting with the ambience, music and decor. Absolutely beautiful, relaxing and it feels your heart with warmth. The service was incredible, very attentive, professional and kind. And the food, holy moly!!! Look at the picture or video I made! If you think it looks amazing, well it tasted even better!!! Really really well made sushi, with perfect amount of rice, fish, etc. The ingredients were fresh and everything so delicious. The plating was also very beautiful. Absolutely loved it and will definitely come back when visiting Köln!

July 7, 2025 Kuchi Mani is an unassuming, rustic Asian restaurant. Teriyaki is served on a large plate with wok-fried vegetables (in season). It's very simple. You can choose between a knife, fork, and spoon or chopsticks. I was successful with chopsticks 😂. The food isn't as spicy as you'd expect from an Asian restaurant; it's more suited to Germans' sometimes sensitive stomachs. It's worth coming back.

The food was delicious, but the platters were simply too small for several people. The wait time was also rather long, especially since it's such a small shop. The ambiance could definitely use a little more attention.

The place is cute, the service is good. I had the beef pho, and unfortunately, it wasn't good. Very flavorless, over-loaded with cilantro, which didn't enhance it. It tasted like dishwater. Unfortunately, I can't rate the other dishes.

I spontaneously went there with my friends last Sunday without a reservation, and we got a table right away. The service was very friendly, the interior was nice, even though it was rather unassuming from the outside. The food was excellent. The soups and sushi were a dream. We went to Kuchi Mami for lunch and were very impressed. I had the peanut beef for just under 10 euros. The portion size was just right, the beef was tender, and the peanut sauce was delicious. We'd love to come back!

One of the best sushi we have eaten here but the service is extra slow. They definitely need more staff. We have been there around 12:30, there were 5 tables in total and only 1 waiter. Our food was in our table around 13:30. When we were leaving around 14:15 there were approx. 9 tables and 2 staffs. Anyway if you are ok with waiting, you should definitely try the sushis.

Delicious food! We had sushi as a starter and duck as a main course, both equally delicious. With the sushi they even decorated the plate with a kind of wasabi sauce flowers and the main course was complete with dry ice as decoration. Food and presentation of the food is therefore A+ The only point for improvement is the service and the decoration of the restaurant. The service was very fast but not very friendly.

We had tofu coconut curry 🍛 and duck. It was delicious, especially the tofu curry! Definitely recommend. The service was fast, maybe in 10 minutes the food was ready. There were just a couple seats available, and some time after we came, they were all gone. So maybe book in advance.
