Mean food here man, food took a bit longer than expected but nonetheless, get down here if you get a chance. Top notch cocktails too

Das Essen war komplett für alle unsere Familienmitglieder versalzen. Ein Wiener Schnitzel , 30 € , war viel zu teuer. Das Schnitzel war sehr fettig und kleine Portionen. Die Marinade beim Wienerschnitzel (Kalbschnitzel) war so dick und das Fleisch war sehr dünn. Ein Gericht hat viel zu viel Öl drauf. Also auch viel zu fett. Komplett waren alle Essen sehr salzig. Bedienungen haben zweimal vergessen Getränke zu bringen. Die Location ist schön. Personal Freundlich.

Dinner with work colleagues on January 31, 2025 1.BAKED BURRATA: served cold, killed the creaminess of burata (was solid like mozzarella) = €15.50 too high for the quality. 2,200 G. BEEF FILET: Hollandaise sauce was completely tasteless and only tasted like colored fat, Bimi + oven tomatoes were ok but just decoration. Filet: pure disaster, first not prepared as ordered (medium done), then it had tendons + fat on half of the fillet, the fillet itself was not tasty meat (unfortunately not enjoyable without salt and pepper) = €38.00, a shame for the money as the quality is not right. 3.French fries: frozen, thin, soaked in fat = disaster. Although I asked what kind of fries they would make and the waitress promised something completely different. 4.RICHARD’S SUN ICE TEA: the only thing that was good and tasted good that evening. All in all: This atmosphere will never welcome me as a guest for dinner again and there will certainly not be another recommendation.

We were at 1821 for the first time today and were very excited. We sat very comfortably at a round table in the back of the very large restaurant. We really liked the atmosphere. Modern, stylish and yet comfortable. The menu includes Swabian dishes, but also dishes with a twist. The cheeks with truffles were simply brilliant. Finally, the Franz without Sissi (Kaiserschmarrn) or the Botanical Garden rounded off this culinary evening. The service was very quick and always polite. We'll definitely come back. Tip: it was very full and we had reserved. We would recommend this.

The 1821 in the old town of Tübingen offers fine dining at a reasonable price. All dishes were presented attractively and to the point, and the Rioja was also worth the money. Since all tables are full on weekends, reserve in advance. At peak times the service took a little longer, but the kitchen was quick.

I had the pleasure of visiting 1821 and absolutely loved it! As soon as you enter you feel at home - the atmosphere is cozy, stylish and inviting. The service was exceptional: friendly, attentive and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. The food was a real highlight! Every dish was prepared with attention to detail, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. I can particularly recommend roasted roast onions, which was simply fantastic. The ingredients were fresh, the quality was outstanding, and the portions were just right. The price-performance ratio is also absolutely right here. You can tell that people work with passion in the kitchen. I will definitely come back and recommend 1821 to anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a pleasant atmosphere!

The food was great, but some dishes lacked salt and some seasoning. The girl in service was super attentive and quick, which we really liked, but her male colleague was rather shy. Glad we were able to bring our birthday cake!

When we came to 1821, a waitress was immediately ready for us and showed us to our reserved table. The service was very good and extremely polite. We each had a starter and a meat dish and a vegetarian dish. The starter was good and the meat dish was also delicious. The vegetarian dish didn't suit our taste because it had different sauces on it. The drinks were very nice and tasty. A small drawback was that we couldn't pay by card that day. In general the visit was very pleasing to the eye and it was ok for the stomach.

I recently had lunch at 1821 with three people. The positive first: The ambience was pleasant and the service was first-class, so we felt very comfortable. The wines were also A1. However, considering the price, the food was mixed: the roast was good, but the spaetzle was a bit overcooked. The fries were crispy, but too salty. To a certain extent, this is also a matter of taste. We were really disappointed with the Wiener Schnitzel. The anticipation was great, because you can't get real Wiener Schnitzel (i.e. veal) everywhere. The taste was okay, but the breading looked pale and came off the meat in pieces. At a price beyond €30, something like this shouldn't happen. I would still come back and try other dishes, maybe my rating will change.

The food was ok but unfortunately everything was soaked in fat. The service was virtually non-existent, we had to go to the bar several times to order drinks again, but they still took forever to arrive, more than 30 minutes. I find the price-performance ratio difficult because the portions were really small. It was also extremely loud in the restaurant and there was loud music playing in the background, sometimes you had to shout at each other at the table. The restaurant is not barrier-free. I definitely won't go there again.

After I saw the restaurant on My Local Your Local, I wanted to visit the restaurant myself. So 6 of us ate here yesterday afternoon. All the dishes were beautifully prepared and tasted absolutely spot on, very, very tasty. The ambience top location. The service is world class!!! Very professional. We can recommend the restaurant 100% and would be happy to come back.

Wir waren im Rahmen einer Betriebsfeier mit ca.60 Leuten da. Der Laden ist wirklich schön und sehr groß. Man sieht auch viele schöne details und auch dass eine menge geld in den Umbau/Einrichtung geflossen ist. An dem tag war es sehr voll, insofern noch verständlich dass wir über 1,5 Stunden auf unser Essen gewartet haben. Aber leider war das Essen wirklich unterste Schublade. Man versucht gehobene Gastronomie zu verkaufen aber Geschmacklich ist man definitiv eher im unteren Bereich. Der zwiebelrostbraten war mittelmäßig und der Fisch sogar unterstes niveau. Es war kalt, zu arg gegart, zu wenig Salz darüberhinaus keine Beilage ausser ein bisschen kürbispüree. Alles schön angerichtet aber der Inhalt stimmt nicht. Nachtisch war insgesamt besser. Es wird zu viel Wert auf den schein gelegt und weniger auf den Inhalt. Ich würde hier nie wieder essen da für mich immer noch der Geschmack über allem steht. Sorry aber bitte Hausaufgaben machen

The enthusiasm is limited. First of all, on the positive side, the ambience is beautifully decorated and offers a great atmosphere. The staff was also quite friendly, but they could be a lot quicker to take the orders, they should keep an overview in order to bring the things to the right table, also clear away used glasses, etc. The coordination is completely confusing and there is no one whatsoever Assignment. This is evident here from start to finish. A half-hour wait for a beer is not the burner.... The waiting time for the food was no longer really tolerable and was 1 hour and 45 minutes, i.e. entering the inn at 6.30 p.m. and it was served at 8.15 p.m. The crowning glory came with eating the onion roast, which tasted great and was fried to perfection and then only a quarter of an hour later the accompanying spaetzle, which was also oversalted. What's the timing here? That doesn't work at all. One visit is enough here, I can tell point of view are not recommended. The prices are significantly too expensive in relation to the portions and what is offered/provided.

Our visit to this restaurant was a completely successful experience. The atmosphere is modern and inviting, the service attentive and friendly. The dishes are creative and prepared with high-quality ingredients. A perfect evening that I can recommend to everyone!

Excellent food, very friendly service and great ambience. Tiny drawback: Our table was diagonally to the right of the bar. Every time the door opened you got a cold draft. Maybe something could be changed with a heavy curtain? I would like to emphasize: there were 15 of us and we all had our main course with completely different dishes almost at the same time. That says a lot about the professionalism of the kitchen.

Rarely eaten so well. Meat fried to perfection. Price-performance ratio is right. The portions were enough to fill us up. The dessert was to die for. We'll be back 🙂

Since the restaurant makes a good impression from the outside, I would have liked to have eaten there. The homepage, which tries to be hip in a weird way in English, and especially the online reservation form put me off. So can't say anything about the food or the service. The food was very tasty, the starter and main course were a delightful experience. Restaurant is very attractively decorated. The restaurant was packed, which probably came from the TV show. So be sure to reserve. Service was OK.

We visited the Restaurant 1821 in Tübingen and had an overall very positive impression. Despite a full reservation list and our spontaneous arrival from Ludwigsburg, the attentive staff organized a table for us. We were very impressed by this commitment and the friendliness of the team. To eat: I had the onion roast with spaetzle, and my wife chose the "Schweinerei". Both dishes tasted excellent and demonstrated high quality and skill in the kitchen. The service was consistently competent and friendly, and the waiting time for the food was just right. The ambience of the restaurant was attractive and well-kept, as were the sanitary facilities. A small downside was the live musical performance around 9 p.m., which offered a nice change, but was a bit too loud for my taste. Overall, a successful evening in a restaurant with very good service and delicious food. We would be happy to come back and thank you again for the flexibility and attentiveness of the team!

Leider kann man nicht viel positives zum Restaurant sagen. Wir haben 1 1/4 Stunden auf ein Essen gewartet, das auch noch kalt war. Der Kaiserschmarrn war so schlecht und nicht selbstgemacht, wir haben ihn zurügehen lassen. Preis/Leistung ist hier mangelhaft. Die Servicemitarbeiter waren auch ziemlich überfordert und einige von ihnen unhöflich. Zu allem Überfluss wurden jegliche Gesprächsversuche durch laute kopfschmerzverursachende Musik unmöglich gemacht.

I've never been charged for tap water - only there. Friends had already recommended the 1821 to me; they found it good during the week. We were there as a group of 7 on a Saturday and then sat at a large table with another group. The toilets were dirty (both men's and women's). The main course (the roast) came 10 minutes before the side dish (Spätzle). When paying we were informed for the first time that card payment was not working due to an internet outage. This should have been communicated straight away. Just like the point that tap water costs - this was not explicitly mentioned when ordering, nor was it listed on the menu. This has never happened to me in Germany, where I am charged €6.80 for 2 carafes of water. Which I also find the price, considering that it is calculated, really a lot and very disproportionate. I then canceled the next reservation for a larger group.

Well, if you can't order a drink with your meal because the service is overloaded, it's not a good review either, there are much better restaurants in Tübingen

Great restaurant with ambience, good food - something different. However, portions are very small, also or precisely because there are a lot of components together, you can sometimes taste very little. Sophistication there, but the taste can be improved. All in all we had a lovely evening.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner here, luckily we got a nice place. However, I recommend making a reservation in advance. The food tasted very good, the prices are a bit high, but for the quality it was completely okay and the price-performance ratio was right. Unfortunately the drinks came just 1 minute before the meal, which could have been implemented a little better. Another plus point was the candy bar. In the end we had a very nice evening with delicious food.

Das Restaurant war am Samstag zur Mittagszeit sehr gut besucht, daher ist eine Reservierung zu empfehlen. Ich habe alles genossen: die Einrichtung in Schwarz-Gold, den aufmerksamen Service und besonders mein Gericht (die Maultaschen). Ich würde die Erfahrung "1821" als einen modernen Spaziergang in einer kulinarischen Geschmackswelt bezeichnen, die ihresgleichen sucht, gekrönt von einem einzigartigen Dessert mit botanischem Namen... Veilchen, Aniskresse and Co. harmonieren mit dem Pistazieneis und der Käsekuchencreme im Schoko-Blumentopf auf wundervolle Art und Weise. Die Lage des Restaurants ist auch perfekt: im Zentrum und trotzdem mit einem Park in unmittelbarer Nähe. Erraten? Es ist der Alte Botanische Garten!

We were there for lunch a few weeks ago with a larger group (16 people). The atmosphere outside is very nice. The orders were taken (I had beef fillet with fries) and the drinks came after a while. Then the food was served and everyone got their food, except for me the pomme was served as a side dish. When I asked about my beef tenderloin I was told they would be right there. Auis “immediately” it was 15 minutes and the fries were now cold. Then I had to complain again and it took a while until the new warm fries arrived. Given the prices, I expect better service.

A hip restaurant, well attended, pleasant ambience... claims to have a more sophisticated cuisine? ....at least that's what the prices are. Positive: the starter, wine Negative: the whiskey sour was watery and came after the starter; I wanted to have the appetizer (which was intended to be lukewarm) kept warm while I waited for my aperitif. It was then delivered to another table... The main course eggplant masala was not very pleasant: masala eggplant with masala sauce and masala pakora onions tone on tone and everything was too salty. To wash down the bad taste, I tried a "regional" plum brandy...it was served far too cold...in an unsuccessful attempt to disguise the poor quality. Disappointing. Paid 130 euros for 2 people. Who is the place suitable for? For young hipsters with too much pocket money who want to photograph trendy Instagram dishes at overpriced prices.

They could do with a stronger internet. Not only as normal use for costumers but also for the payment. The place is beautiful and comfortable and the service is very kind. The food was excellent.

Restaurant 1821 is absolutely outstanding! The food is not only incredibly tasty, but also boldly and creatively put together – truly a culinary journey of discovery. The service was super attentive and friendly, you immediately feel at home. Particularly noteworthy: The whiskey sour was absolutely on point! All in all a fantastic experience – definitely worth 5 stars!

Food for a C grade. The appetizer was in the form of fried Burata. The idea itself seemed dubious, but aroused curiosity. The dish arrived in 3 minutes. The edges of the plate were hot, but the bottom was icy. This happens when a dish with a restaurant price in a good atmosphere is taken out of yesterday’s refrigerator and heated in the microwave. (This is possible at home, if the wife is not older than 22 years old and has experience with a refrigerator and microwave) This is not possible in a restaurant. The second courses took 45 minutes to arrive. Pork called Schweinerei cost as much as heating and lighting in Schweinerei, and tasted just good. The signature dish (according to legend, it was prepared by the Chef's mother) attracts the most criticism. The sausages and spaetzle tasted as good as Lidl and Aldi's budget options. And Linsen (lentils) were overcooked for about 10 minutes and turned into puree. The menu is large and varied, but the quality does not match the price. 100 euros for two allowed us to also try Kaiserschmarle and ice cream with berries and an edible cup... The chef is lucky that Tübingen is big and the street is busy.

Durchdesigntes Restaurant…. Trotzdem das Restaurant fast leer war dauerte es fast 20 Minuten bis wir die Menü Karten erhielten. Weitere 15 Minuten später wurde die Bestellung aufgenommen. Der Service ist freundlich, aber wirkt überfordert. Die Gerichte waren sehr schön angerichtet . es fehlte fast überall der Pepp, die Würze. Für das gebotene leider zu teuer.

Very nice atmosphere, in the middle of Tübingen. Unfortunately, both drinks we ordered were not poured to the full. It may sound petty, but it should be fine in this price range. When this was pointed out, a minimal amount of refills were given without an apology, rather grumpy. Wanted to eat pulp, unfortunately not available, otherwise food so far good, pork parcels very tender, puree good truffle taste, Viennese schnitzel OK, but breading not optimal, potato salad with mustard, unfortunately the instructions are not listed

Our evening at 1821 was one of the best positive surprises we've had in a long time. Everything really fits here. Ambience, service, food, drinks. Everything exceeded our expectations in some way. We found it particularly great that the service always dealt with our concerns directly, regardless of which of the many employees we spoke to. Clear recommendation, we are already looking forward to the next visit.

The food selection is very extensive - everyone will find something here. Service was excellent. No sign of a staff shortage. Only the noise level is high when the restaurant is busy, as it was today at lunchtime.

Very nice and stylish atmosphere. Certainly one of the best in Tübingen. The service was very friendly and answered questions competently. The food is comparatively expensive. We had a total of two starters, two main courses and one dessert. Not the standard things like schnitzel or burgers, but from the more unusual part of the menu. Everything tasted very good and was lovingly and creatively prepared. We were really excited and it's not that easy anymore. Highly recommended. The cocktails were good. But in my opinion very small for the high price. To have a drink I would go somewhere else. But absolutely recommended for eating!

After the 1821 was shown on the show "My Local, Your Local" and won with 40 out of 40 points, I wanted to try it out because we were in Tübingen anyway. It is really recommended that the food was very tasty, the portions were not too small, a good selection of wine and a very friendly, attentive service. Although the location has a lot of seats and was very busy shortly after 6 p.m., you didn't have to wait long. The ambience is great. It was a great evening and the journey from Heidelberg was worth it.

I don't know what made it easier for Mike to declare this a good thing! First off, the young waiter was OK and on his toes! Abeeeer the Wiener Schnitzel was not well breaded and it was bone dry, the potato salad was impossible to eat, the potatoes were still hard and swimming in an indefinable salad dressing as if they wanted to spice up bought bucket salad! The lentils with spaetzle and string sausages for 17.50 euros were unbelievable, the sausages were greasy, definitely the cheapest Metro or very bad butcher, the lentils were like that and the spaetzle was too soft and too dead in butter and the melted one was still light, unfortunately when it was already The previously ordered Kaiserschmarrn didn't get any better, it was neither risen nor fluffy, nor was it tossed or caramelized. My wife and I will definitely not be coming back and I will also write an email to Mike Süsser!

Great place to enjoy. Class service. Totally casual. The menu isn't too big, but there's something for everyone. Very creative and incredibly tasty. We will definitely come back, despite the 46 km journey.

The ambience and the food are great. Unfortunately, the service sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. After 20 minutes of waiting to be served, you get yelled at for drawing attention to yourself. Tables that were occupied later were already in the process of ordering their food. That ruins your evening, unfortunately.

When they opened the service to the outside area, the number of tables increased, but I guess there was not the same increase in the number of waiters serving because after sitting at the table we had to wait a long time to order or request extra drinks with our meal. Apart from that, everything else; the atmosphere, the food and the presentation were very good.
