1821 – Catering that's more than just food. A team that's more than just a service provider. We always recommend 1821 – but at our wedding, Marcel and his team truly exceeded expectations. The challenge was not easy: a celebration in a warehouse with no kitchen and no plumbing. What sounds like a nightmare for many caterers turned into a culinary highlight. Marcel installed water, set up a mobile kitchen, staged the buffet with grids, and implemented our every wish. From the aperitif to the food to the bar service – everything was perfect. But first, the worst-case scenario came the day before: the booked decorator completely failed. What does Marcel do? He takes over that as well. His team not only saved the day – they made it special. After the first meeting, we said, "We would trust Marcel with our entire celebration without hesitation." And that's exactly what we did. And rightly so. Marcel took care of everything, mastering every challenge with confidence, always calm, professional, and with a smile on his face. His team? Amazing. Every single one was friendly, attentive, fast, and helpful. The guests felt like they were the most important thing. And then... the food. A dream. We still hear things like: "I've never eaten such perfect asparagus." "Those pork cheeks... a poem!" "The glass noodle salad? I'd book the catering for that alone." 1821 made our wedding truly special. Thank you, Marcel. Thank you to your team. You're passionate. Passionate. Professionals through and through. Great atmosphere, very tasty food. Unfortunately, the wait for the food was long; we waited over an hour for our food, and we also had to wait a long time for dessert. Otherwise, great service; I'll be back.

Everything is just right here! And the service is impeccable! It's rare to find such friendly waitresses these days. Even when under pressure, they're always friendly, courteous, and quick. The only slight drawback is the ambience – the noise level in the restaurant gets quite high when it's full, and a quiet conversation has to be raised a bit. But that just goes to show how popular this place is ;) A definite recommendation!

The location is great and the decor is lovely. Service was a bit slow, probably due to the busy hour. Since it was a conference dinner, we did not see the full menu - but the dishes we had were mostly pastry-based and not very flavorful. A beautiful place, but the food did not quite impress.

We ordered a burger at this restaurant. The burger was good—juicy, tasty, and well-cooked. The only downside was that they only serve one type of burger, and the portion was a bit small compared to other restaurants.

As a group of 20 people, we felt very comfortable in the "library" and well looked after in every respect.

In addition to the delicious food, the wonderfully creative ambiance, and the Benjamin Blümchen radio plays in the restroom, the 1821 particularly scores points for its exceptionally friendly staff!

The goat cheese and beetroot starter was very original and delicious. The side salad was large and fresh with a good dressing. The burger and roast beef with onions were the main course: the fries and spaetzle looked homemade and tasted delicious. The brioche on the burger was buttery soft, and the meat and toppings blended well. The roast beef was tender, juicy, and flavorful. We could have had a bit more flavor in our opinion, but it was good. The mango dessert to finish was our highlight! Fresh, excellent flavor, and pleasing to the eye! The homemade lemonade was also delicious! We'd love to come back!

A place to linger, with delicious food that tastes like a vacation in your mouth! Friendly, helpful staff... we'll be back... we promise!

The food is exceptionally delicious, and the menu offers a wide selection of dishes to suit every taste. Vegetarians will also find plenty to enjoy here. The cuisine combines creative specialties with traditional Swabian classics and special highlights, such as cheese spaetzle with truffles. The restaurant opens a little late for breakfast, around 11:30 a.m., but it's perfect for a leisurely brunch or an early lunch. The prices are a bit higher, but absolutely justified. The pita with burrata and mango salsa is particularly recommended – a true taste experience!

Reservations and Access We reserved a table online and noted during the booking process that we were arriving with a wheelchair, a dog, and two children in high chairs. Our assigned table wasn't working at first, but this was quickly resolved, and we were finally able to be seated. It would have been helpful to consider the instructions when making the reservation and to note alternative entrances, such as the entrance via Wilhelmstraße with an elevator, on the website to facilitate access for guests with mobility impairments. Service The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow overall, which was especially noticeable during longer waits. Waiting times increased significantly, especially for the children's menu, which we only received upon request. Drinks also took quite a while to arrive, which lengthened our stay somewhat. Faster service would have been desirable here. Ambience The ambience is beautiful and tastefully designed. However, it can get quite noisy at full capacity, which can somewhat detract from the enjoyment. Value for Money The homemade lemonade tastes good, but the price of €6 for a small glass (approx. 0.2 l) seems a bit high, considering that other restaurants offer larger and equally tasty homemade lemonades for similar prices. The food was of very good quality and the presentation was appealing – the value for money is right here, even though the restaurant is on the higher end. Food and Taste The food was truly excellent and of high quality. The dishes were beautifully presented – after all, eating is a feast for the eyes. Suggestions for Improvement for the Team - Please consider the instructions when making reservations, especially if you have special needs. - For guests with children, the children's menu should be provided directly at their table to reduce waiting times. - For guests with disabilities, it would be helpful to note the location of the accessible restroom on the menu or when making the reservation. - The website could mention the alternative access via Wilhelmstraße by elevator to facilitate access for guests with mobility impairments. Conclusion If you have some time and are willing to invest a little more in quality and service, the restaurant is definitely recommended. With minor improvements in service and communication, the experience could be even more pleasant.

Dubai prices here too. The service was very unfriendly and rushed. We waited 60 minutes for the food and were then literally pressured to leave, even though the restaurant would still be open for half an hour. We'll never come again.

Very nice atmosphere, friendly service and good food

We had a children's portion of Kässpätzle for the little one, which was lukewarm at the table. Food came after an hour of waiting. Beef soup with pancakes without a bread basket €8.50, also lukewarm. Went back, came back hot. Everything was ok. Maultaschen arrived, was a manageable size, tasty but... lukewarm Espresso came afterwards in a cup that had not been preheated, lukewarm Service friendly, but it just doesn't work that way. At some point everyone had their food, only we waited and then it was lukewarm. It's a shame

⸻ Yesterday I visited the restaurant and ordered a smashed burger. The taste of the burger was okay, but overall it was too spicy. Although the burger itself was still hot, the patty itself was unfortunately cold. The fries were also disappointing: they were no longer golden yellow and looked as if they had been in the deep fryer for a long time. Overall, I would rate my visit a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right - 22 euros for a burger with fries is simply too much. However, what has to be emphasized positively: The service was really very good! The service staff were friendly, attentive and clearly made an effort to ensure that the guests had a pleasant stay. Very friendly team!

On a Thursday evening we visited the Restaurant 1821 in Tübingen for the first time with a reservation - full of anticipation. The location was immediately convincing: modern, stylish and implemented with great attention to detail. The service was excellent. Friendly, attentive and regularly at the table to ask about our wishes. A real plus point. The food offered a modern interpretation of classic dishes, tasteful but not at the high level of location and service. Overall a recommended restaurant. Not an absolute must, but if you stop by here you definitely won't go wrong.

In Germany on a business trip with colleagues from the US. At the Gasthaus Bären we requested restaurants recommendations in the Tubingen area. The service staff suggested we give 1821 a try. After realizing we should check to see if reservations are required, we made a reservation on the website for 6 at 8:15pm. We were sat promptly upon arrival, and the service staff offered us a choice of 2 tables. The restaurant was relatively booked, but the section they put us in only had 1 table occupied so we were able to enjoy our evening and have great conversations. We translated the menu on the website to English, and made selections of cocktails and beer, the Burrata and Beef Tartare appetizer, and selected a range of dinner entrees, the truffle spatzle weiner schnitzel, one day in Bangkok, and rounded out the meal with the Botanical Garden and the highly coveted and suggested Apple Dessert. From the pouring of the Alchemist drink, prompt delivery and presentation of food, fresh ingredients, to the sweet endcap we enjoyed our evening, spending 2 hours relaxing. The staff boxed up our meal, gave us business cards to share the word, and offered us complimentary sweets for the road. We met the amazing chef Sander and Alean both took car of us, with a few others along the way. The promptly cleared each round of plates and cups, make great recommendations for us to try. Made us foreigners feel welcome and relaxed. The ambiance is a vibe, the lighting was relaxing, music was on but not distracting. It looked like there were private areas, and we were bummed that we didn't get a chance to check out the outdoor space. We will be telling our supplier to bring their future customers here for Business Dinners or Specialty occasions. Definitely a MUST visit place if you're in the area. It was only an 8 minute walk from our Hotel. Open surprisingly late in relation to the other restaurants in the area.

The service was really super friendly and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed the starter (Zieglein im Walde) and the Salmon x Waldorf was also really great. Unfortunately, my partner wasn't entirely happy with the taste of his vegan cabbage rolls, but it was still good. We'll be back :)

Food was very tasty. I can recommend baked burrata and roast beef. Great Hefeweizen from Berg. Pinot Noir went like this. Big store. When it's full it's very loud.

Very nicely decorated restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was a disaster. I ate by far the most expensive and worst burger of my life here. Absolutely tasteless: apart from meat, a slice of cheese, and two slices of cucumber from a jar, there was nothing on it. No lettuce, no tomato slice, no sauce, no bacon, nothing! But there were these black, charred stripes. Were those onions? The fries were as hard as coal briquettes. They'd been in the fryer for at least an hour. I left them. What I saw on the other plates actually looked quite tasty, but the burger was a no-go. So: sorry guys, but never again!

A really nice, open atmosphere with a pleasant space design - a place to feel good! A small downer: It was quite loud, but that was probably because almost all the tables were occupied. The service? Simply great! Friendly, attentive and always with a smile. The food was also served surprisingly quickly. The dishes themselves are creative, lovingly prepared and in an absolutely sufficient portion size. A tiny point of criticism: Unfortunately, the spaetzle was a bit overcooked, and the cocktail came in a thick-walled champagne glass - a detail that somewhat spoiled the enjoyment experience. But that's whining at a high level! And an important tip to all ladies: Be sure to leave room for dessert - because the best comes last!

Enjoyed a great stay at 1821. The food is super tasty and incredibly creative. The eye is clearly eating here! The clear selection is also great, with many vegetarian and vegan variants on offer. Meat lovers will also enjoy it. It should also be emphasized that the service is very attentive, friendly and yet hardly noticeably goes about its work. The concept is rounded off by the wonderful ambience, which really invites you to linger. I'm already looking forward to another visit in the summer to the sun terrace for brunch.

Das Essen war komplett für alle unsere Familienmitglieder versalzen. Ein Wiener Schnitzel , 30 € , war viel zu teuer. Das Schnitzel war sehr fettig und kleine Portionen. Die Marinade beim Wienerschnitzel (Kalbschnitzel) war so dick und das Fleisch war sehr dünn. Ein Gericht hat viel zu viel Öl drauf. Also auch viel zu fett. Komplett waren alle Essen sehr salzig. Bedienungen haben zweimal vergessen Getränke zu bringen. Die Location ist schön. Personal Freundlich.

Dinner with work colleagues on January 31, 2025 1.BAKED BURRATA: served cold, killed the creaminess of burata (was solid like mozzarella) = €15.50 too high for the quality. 2,200 G. BEEF FILET: Hollandaise sauce was completely tasteless and only tasted like colored fat, Bimi + oven tomatoes were ok but just decoration. Filet: pure disaster, first not prepared as ordered (medium done), then it had tendons + fat on half of the fillet, the fillet itself was not tasty meat (unfortunately not enjoyable without salt and pepper) = €38.00, a shame for the money as the quality is not right. 3.French fries: frozen, thin, soaked in fat = disaster. Although I asked what kind of fries they would make and the waitress promised something completely different. 4.RICHARD’S SUN ICE TEA: the only thing that was good and tasted good that evening. All in all: This atmosphere will never welcome me as a guest for dinner again and there will certainly not be another recommendation.

We were at 1821 for the first time today and were very excited. We sat very comfortably at a round table in the back of the very large restaurant. We really liked the atmosphere. Modern, stylish and yet comfortable. The menu includes Swabian dishes, but also dishes with a twist. The cheeks with truffles were simply brilliant. Finally, the Franz without Sissi (Kaiserschmarrn) or the Botanical Garden rounded off this culinary evening. The service was very quick and always polite. We'll definitely come back. Tip: it was very full and we had reserved. We would recommend this.

The 1821 in the old town of Tübingen offers fine dining at a reasonable price. All dishes were presented attractively and to the point, and the Rioja was also worth the money. Since all tables are full on weekends, reserve in advance. At peak times the service took a little longer, but the kitchen was quick.

Every dish was prepared with attention to detail, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. I can particularly recommend roasted roast onions, which was simply fantastic. The ingredients were fresh, the quality was outstanding, and the portions were just right. The price-performance ratio is also absolutely right here. You can tell that people work with passion in the kitchen. I will definitely come back and recommend 1821 to anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a pleasant atmosphere!

The food was great, but some dishes lacked salt and some seasoning. The girl in service was super attentive and quick, which we really liked, but her male colleague was rather shy. Glad we were able to bring our birthday cake!

When we came to 1821, a waitress was immediately ready for us and showed us to our reserved table. The service was very good and extremely polite. We each had a starter and a meat dish and a vegetarian dish. The starter was good and the meat dish was also delicious. The vegetarian dish didn't suit our taste because it had different sauces on it. The drinks were very nice and tasty. A small drawback was that we couldn't pay by card that day. In general the visit was very pleasing to the eye and it was ok for the stomach.

I recently had lunch at 1821 with three people. The positive first: The ambience was pleasant and the service was first-class, so we felt very comfortable. The wines were also A1. However, considering the price, the food was mixed: the roast was good, but the spaetzle was a bit overcooked. The fries were crispy, but too salty. To a certain extent, this is also a matter of taste. We were really disappointed with the Wiener Schnitzel. The anticipation was great, because you can't get real Wiener Schnitzel (i.e. veal) everywhere. The taste was okay, but the breading looked pale and came off the meat in pieces. At a price beyond €30, something like this shouldn't happen. I would still come back and try other dishes, maybe my rating will change.

The food was ok but unfortunately everything was soaked in fat. The service was virtually non-existent, we had to go to the bar several times to order drinks again, but they still took forever to arrive, more than 30 minutes. I find the price-performance ratio difficult because the portions were really small. It was also extremely loud in the restaurant and there was loud music playing in the background, sometimes you had to shout at each other at the table. The restaurant is not barrier-free. I definitely won't go there again.

After I saw the restaurant on My Local Your Local, I wanted to visit the restaurant myself. So 6 of us ate here yesterday afternoon. All the dishes were beautifully prepared and tasted absolutely spot on, very, very tasty. The ambience top location. The service is world class!!! Very professional. We can recommend the restaurant 100% and would be happy to come back.

Wir waren im Rahmen einer Betriebsfeier mit ca.60 Leuten da. Der Laden ist wirklich schön und sehr groß. Man sieht auch viele schöne details und auch dass eine menge geld in den Umbau/Einrichtung geflossen ist. An dem tag war es sehr voll, insofern noch verständlich dass wir über 1,5 Stunden auf unser Essen gewartet haben. Aber leider war das Essen wirklich unterste Schublade. Man versucht gehobene Gastronomie zu verkaufen aber Geschmacklich ist man definitiv eher im unteren Bereich. Der zwiebelrostbraten war mittelmäßig und der Fisch sogar unterstes niveau. Es war kalt, zu arg gegart, zu wenig Salz darüberhinaus keine Beilage ausser ein bisschen kürbispüree. Alles schön angerichtet aber der Inhalt stimmt nicht. Nachtisch war insgesamt besser. Es wird zu viel Wert auf den schein gelegt und weniger auf den Inhalt. Ich würde hier nie wieder essen da für mich immer noch der Geschmack über allem steht. Sorry aber bitte Hausaufgaben machen

The enthusiasm is limited. First of all, on the positive side, the ambience is beautifully decorated and offers a great atmosphere. The staff was also quite friendly, but they could be a lot quicker to take the orders, they should keep an overview in order to bring the things to the right table, also clear away used glasses, etc. The coordination is completely confusing and there is no one whatsoever Assignment. This is evident here from start to finish. A half-hour wait for a beer is not the burner.... The waiting time for the food was no longer really tolerable and was 1 hour and 45 minutes, i.e. entering the inn at 6.30 p.m. and it was served at 8.15 p.m. The crowning glory came with eating the onion roast, which tasted great and was fried to perfection and then only a quarter of an hour later the accompanying spaetzle, which was also oversalted. What's the timing here? That doesn't work at all. One visit is enough here, I can tell point of view are not recommended. The prices are significantly too expensive in relation to the portions and what is offered/provided.

Excellent food, very friendly service and great ambience. Tiny drawback: Our table was diagonally to the right of the bar. Every time the door opened you got a cold draft. Maybe something could be changed with a heavy curtain? I would like to emphasize: there were 15 of us and we all had our main course with completely different dishes almost at the same time. That says a lot about the professionalism of the kitchen.

The homepage, which tries to be hip in a weird way in English, and especially the online reservation form put me off. So can't say anything about the food or the service. We visited the Restaurant 1821 in Tübingen and had an overall very positive impression. Despite a full reservation list and our spontaneous arrival from Ludwigsburg, the attentive staff organized a table for us. We were very impressed by this commitment and the friendliness of the team. To eat: I had the onion roast with spaetzle, and my wife chose the "Schweinerei". Both dishes tasted excellent and demonstrated high quality and skill in the kitchen. The service was consistently competent and friendly, and the waiting time for the food was just right. The ambience of the restaurant was attractive and well-kept, as were the sanitary facilities. A small downside was the live musical performance around 9 p.m., which offered a nice change, but was a bit too loud for my taste. Overall, a successful evening in a restaurant with very good service and delicious food. We would be happy to come back and thank you again for the flexibility and attentiveness of the team!

Leider kann man nicht viel positives zum Restaurant sagen. Wir haben 1 1/4 Stunden auf ein Essen gewartet, das auch noch kalt war. Der Kaiserschmarrn war so schlecht und nicht selbstgemacht, wir haben ihn zurügehen lassen. Preis/Leistung ist hier mangelhaft. Die Servicemitarbeiter waren auch ziemlich überfordert und einige von ihnen unhöflich. Zu allem Überfluss wurden jegliche Gesprächsversuche durch laute kopfschmerzverursachende Musik unmöglich gemacht.

I've never been charged for tap water - only there. Friends had already recommended the 1821 to me; they found it good during the week. We were there as a group of 7 on a Saturday and then sat at a large table with another group. The toilets were dirty (both men's and women's). The main course (the roast) came 10 minutes before the side dish (Spätzle). When paying we were informed for the first time that card payment was not working due to an internet outage. This should have been communicated straight away. Just like the point that tap water costs - this was not explicitly mentioned when ordering, nor was it listed on the menu. This has never happened to me in Germany, where I am charged €6.80 for 2 carafes of water. Which I also find the price, considering that it is calculated, really a lot and very disproportionate. I then canceled the next reservation for a larger group.

Well, if you can't order a drink with your meal because the service is overloaded, it's not a good review either, there are much better restaurants in Tübingen

Very friendly and prompt service. The menu is small, clear and very well thought out. The food was exceptionally good. The roast was to the point and the side dishes were of very high quality. The salad is super fresh and crunchy. The prices are absolutely reasonable for what you get. Gladly again

We finally got around to booking a table at 1821 - and we will definitely go there more often. Great atmosphere, beautifully presented food that was also very tasty. And I would particularly like to emphasize the perfect service from Julius. I also want a perfect “host” Thank you for a wonderful evening

Great restaurant with ambience, good food - something different. However, portions are very small, also or precisely because there are a lot of components together, you can sometimes taste very little. Sophistication there, but the taste can be improved. All in all we had a lovely evening.

The food was really great, but unfortunately the service wasn't good at all for us. The food arrived at the table with a total delay and the drinks also took a long time to arrive. When paying I was made aware of this 3 times and after 30 minutes someone came.

As expected, everything was excellent!

Small salad 🥗 and Wiener Schnitzel (also with salad 🤣) were very tasty and service was great!

Great ambience and great service!! The food was okay to good. The high prices are justified for the really good service and the great ambience but unfortunately not for the food.
