The food was outstanding. I had Asian duck – every sauce and every foam was aromatic and wonderfully seasoned, the meat was cooked to perfection, and those deep-fried potato foam balls were completely new to me. Brilliant.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend the restaurant and wouldn't eat there again. While the food was delicious and the service extremely friendly, I find it incomprehensible that an establishment of this size doesn't accept card payments – or rather, only accepts them for amounts over €15. In my opinion, there are neither plausible technical nor operational reasons for this. We were there with a large group, consumed a lot, and still couldn't pay by card. I understand that card payments involve a certain amount of effort, but a restaurant of this size and price range should be able to offer this basic service without restrictions. Otherwise, in my opinion, it has missed the boat on modern guest service.

We ordered Wiener Schnitzel and Herrgottsbscheisser for food, and Holunder-Lime and Waldbeere lemonades for drinks. The lemonades tasted like sparkling water with a few pieces of fruit, which I found mediocre. The food was slightly above average but didn’t justify the price. Additionally, the service was very slow. Overall, I can’t say I left with a positive experience.

No longer recommended! Unfortunately! 10 months ago it was great, today it's a flop! The wait for the food to arrive is too long, even though the restaurant isn't busy. Then it arrives, and one of the dishes is lukewarm. The service staff is very nice, but there's probably no professional in the kitchen. It's a real shame.

We were at 1821 for our first New Year's Eve dinner. I can only praise it highly – it was simply wonderful! From start to finish, everything ran smoothly, and my expectations were exceeded in every way. The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and professional. I had asked in advance whether my dishes could be prepared gluten-free (due to my celiac disease), which was no problem at all. Even ingredients were swapped, and every server knew about it. The quality was also outstanding, whether it was the product, the food, or the atmosphere – everything was perfect down to the smallest detail. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail: Everything seemed well thought out and implemented with a lot of heart. I can definitely recommend a visit to 1821!

A great place where you are good and feel good!

The ambiance there is really very nice and well-executed, and the food (pork cheeks) was also very tasty. Unfortunately, for €21, I expected more than a tablespoon-sized blob of mashed potatoes and two pieces of meat not even 4 cm long. We naturally asked the waitress if something was wrong with the portions, but unfortunately, there was no response; the service was rather unfriendly. It's just not nice when you pay a total of €35 and then have to go get something to eat. A quick note: about 10 other guests had the same experience. A tip for the kitchen: it's still worth it and economical if the portion is a bit larger and a normal person can still be roughly full.

For starters, we had the fresh Salad de la Casa, followed by a fantastic roast beef with onions and Watergrass Hill beef, and the 1821 Smashed Burger with dry-aged beef and crispy fries. The meat – premium quality, tender, and flavorful – a real treat for the palate. Positive highlights: The special ambiance, the extremely friendly service, and the excellent quality of the food and drinks. Small deductions that make you smile: the flashing "Emergency Exit" sign was more like a disco ball than a guide – we almost ate in time to it 😅. And yes, the wait for the food was a bit longer, but with this taste, it was immediately forgiven. Conclusion: We'll definitely be back!

The food tasted good, but the portions were much too small. The value for money was completely out of the question. In our starter of tuna with avocado, which cost almost €20, you'd have to search for the tuna. So, for us, the visit was a one-time experience.

The main course came before the starter, others didn't get anything at all after the rest had already eaten because apparently they were sold out. And the service was completely untrained, the main thing. Maximum profitability, keep it up.

It was our first time here and we sat outside. Although the outdoor area is right next to the street, the noise is barely disturbing. The ambiance is truly stylish and appealing – even nicer inside. The menu is modern and extremely varied. Fresh ingredients and great combinations. We were particularly impressed by the "Crispy Eggplant" – wow! Overall, we were very satisfied and think you really get value for your money here. And not to forget – the staff were consistently very friendly and professional! We'll be back 👍🏻

We were here for dinner. The tapas starters were delicious, as was the Thai curry. There's plenty of seating outside. However, it's next to a busy road, which makes it very noisy. Inside, the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Our servers were all very friendly.

Great location, delicious cocktails and super friendly staff

The 1821 is a great addition to Tübingen. The beer garden is located right on Wilhelmstrasse and can be annoying due to the traffic at times, but it's definitely an improvement over the parking lot. The service was a bit slow, but it was okay because we weren't under any pressure. The drinks and food were very good, as usual. We've never had anything to complain about here. A daily special or some variety on the menu throughout the year would be welcome, though.

We were here for dinner. The service was fast, attentive, very friendly, and pleasant. The concept is coherent. The ambiance inside and out is truly wonderful and invites you to linger. We found the outdoor area very quiet and inviting. We were able to have a perfectly understandable conversation without any problems. The food is amazing! We had the DIY gyro and the crispy eggplant. It was incredibly delicious. Exceptional creations and Swabian classics, including a vegan version that even I, a non-vegetarian, tried. You can feel the attention to detail and passion for cooking. The prices are reasonable for the quality and effort. We'll be back

We were at an event where 1821 was catering in their own premises. The food was truly delicious. Unfortunately, my mother and I caught a bacteria at the end of the evening. The rest of the evening and night were nauseous for both of us. My mother was fine the next day, but I didn't get better until a few days later. The rest of my family was fine. In my opinion, that shouldn't happen in a restaurant like this.

There were six of us, and all the starters, main courses, and desserts were a feast for the eyes and palate. I personally had the best roast beef I've ever had. The service was very friendly and prompt. So, we'll be back!

I don't know what to praise more: The roast beef with onions was so tender you could have sucked on it. The spaetzle and salad were also a delight. And to top it off, the staff couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. A real winner for me. Thank you very much.

Unfortunately, we didn't have such a pleasant evening. We had to wait about 30 minutes for someone to bring us the menus. The food didn't impress us; we found the burger uninspiring and untasty, and the portions were quite modest. The friendly staff and the beautiful garden were a plus.

I actually had little desire to go here after never receiving a confirmation for my online reservation. I tried countless times by phone, but every time the answering machine answered after a short while. The food was truly fantastic and unusual. We also really liked the outdoor ambiance. However, we arrived on a Friday at 6 p.m. We didn't have our main course until around 8 or 8:30 p.m. The appetizers came pretty quickly. Towards the end, everyone was sitting there with empty glasses. No one came for ages. The food is, as I said, excellent. But you should only come here if you have time and it's worth waiting so long for your food.

Truly delicious food, great and friendly service. Of course, that comes at a price! Certainly not for every day, but enjoyable every now and then. A Hefeweizen beer for €5.10 is quite a hefty price, as are the roast beef and Wiener schnitzel for €31.50. But the dishes are truly delicious! Unfortunately, the beer garden is right on the street and accordingly noisy, but it still has a cozy atmosphere. If you value good food, you should try 1821.

This restaurant fulfills all expectations of a special establishment with outstanding dishes, tremendous attention to guests, and flexibility – in a breathtaking atmosphere...in the garden as well as indoors.

I find the ambiance really nice and inviting, but we were a bit unlucky with the service. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks even though it wasn't busy, and afterward, we weren't even asked if we wanted anything else, even though we were a small group with people arriving later who didn't have anything to drink. We also waited another 30 minutes to pay, despite asking. That was a bit unfortunate, even though it's otherwise a nice restaurant.

Everything was good except for the monkfish menu's price/performance ratio! 35.50 for a palm-sized piece with almost half of it still bone isn't right.

1821 – Catering that's more than just food. A team that's more than just a service provider. We always recommend 1821 – but at our wedding, Marcel and his team truly exceeded expectations. The challenge was not easy: a celebration in a warehouse with no kitchen and no plumbing. What sounds like a nightmare for many caterers turned into a culinary highlight. Marcel installed water, set up a mobile kitchen, staged the buffet with grids, and implemented our every wish. From the aperitif to the food to the bar service – everything was perfect. But first, the worst-case scenario came the day before: the booked decorator completely failed. What does Marcel do? He takes over that as well. His team not only saved the day – they made it special. After the first meeting, we said, "We would trust Marcel with our entire celebration without hesitation." And that's exactly what we did. And rightly so. Marcel took care of everything, mastering every challenge with confidence, always calm, professional, and with a smile on his face. His team? Amazing. Every single one was friendly, attentive, fast, and helpful. The guests felt like they were the most important thing. And then... the food. A dream. We still hear things like: "I've never eaten such perfect asparagus." "Those pork cheeks... a poem!" "The glass noodle salad? Everything is just right here! And the service is impeccable! It's rare to find such friendly waitresses these days. Even when under pressure, they're always friendly, courteous, and quick. The only slight drawback is the ambience – the noise level in the restaurant gets quite high when it's full, and a quiet conversation has to be raised a bit. But that just goes to show how popular this place is ;) A definite recommendation!

We ordered a burger at this restaurant. The burger was good—juicy, tasty, and well-cooked. The only downside was that they only serve one type of burger, and the portion was a bit small compared to other restaurants.

As a group of 20 people, we felt very comfortable in the "library" and well looked after in every respect.

The goat cheese and beetroot starter was very original and delicious. The side salad was large and fresh with a good dressing. The burger and roast beef with onions were the main course: the fries and spaetzle looked homemade and tasted delicious. The brioche on the burger was buttery soft, and the meat and toppings blended well. The roast beef was tender, juicy, and flavorful. We could have had a bit more flavor in our opinion, but it was good. The mango dessert to finish was our highlight! Fresh, excellent flavor, and pleasing to the eye! The homemade lemonade was also delicious! We'd love to come back!

The food is exceptionally delicious, and the menu offers a wide selection of dishes to suit every taste. Vegetarians will also find plenty to enjoy here. The cuisine combines creative specialties with traditional Swabian classics and special highlights, such as cheese spaetzle with truffles. The restaurant opens a little late for breakfast, around 11:30 a.m., but it's perfect for a leisurely brunch or an early lunch. The prices are a bit higher, but absolutely justified. The pita with burrata and mango salsa is particularly recommended – a true taste experience!

Reservations and Access We reserved a table online and noted during the booking process that we were arriving with a wheelchair, a dog, and two children in high chairs. Our assigned table wasn't working at first, but this was quickly resolved, and we were finally able to be seated. It would have been helpful to consider the instructions when making the reservation and to note alternative entrances, such as the entrance via Wilhelmstraße with an elevator, on the website to facilitate access for guests with mobility impairments. Service The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow overall, which was especially noticeable during longer waits. Waiting times increased significantly, especially for the children's menu, which we only received upon request. Drinks also took quite a while to arrive, which lengthened our stay somewhat. Faster service would have been desirable here. Ambience The ambience is beautiful and tastefully designed. However, it can get quite noisy at full capacity, which can somewhat detract from the enjoyment. Value for Money The homemade lemonade tastes good, but the price of €6 for a small glass (approx. 0.2 l) seems a bit high, considering that other restaurants offer larger and equally tasty homemade lemonades for similar prices. The food was of very good quality and the presentation was appealing – the value for money is right here, even though the restaurant is on the higher end. Food and Taste The food was truly excellent and of high quality. The dishes were beautifully presented – after all, eating is a feast for the eyes. Suggestions for Improvement for the Team - Please consider the instructions when making reservations, especially if you have special needs. - For guests with children, the children's menu should be provided directly at their table to reduce waiting times. - For guests with disabilities, it would be helpful to note the location of the accessible restroom on the menu or when making the reservation. - The website could mention the alternative access via Wilhelmstraße by elevator to facilitate access for guests with mobility impairments. Conclusion If you have some time and are willing to invest a little more in quality and service, the restaurant is definitely recommended. With minor improvements in service and communication, the experience could be even more pleasant.

Dubai prices here too. The service was very unfriendly and rushed. We waited 60 minutes for the food and were then literally pressured to leave, even though the restaurant would still be open for half an hour. We'll never come again.

We had a children's portion of Kässpätzle for the little one, which was lukewarm at the table. Food came after an hour of waiting. Beef soup with pancakes without a bread basket €8.50, also lukewarm. Went back, came back hot. Everything was ok. Maultaschen arrived, was a manageable size, tasty but... lukewarm Espresso came afterwards in a cup that had not been preheated, lukewarm Service friendly, but it just doesn't work that way. At some point everyone had their food, only we waited and then it was lukewarm. It's a shame

Although the burger itself was still hot, the patty itself was unfortunately cold. The fries were also disappointing: they were no longer golden yellow and looked as if they had been in the deep fryer for a long time. Overall, I would rate my visit a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right - 22 euros for a burger with fries is simply too much. However, what has to be emphasized positively: The service was really very good! The service staff were friendly, attentive and clearly made an effort to ensure that the guests had a pleasant stay. Very friendly team!

On a Thursday evening we visited the Restaurant 1821 in Tübingen for the first time with a reservation - full of anticipation. The location was immediately convincing: modern, stylish and implemented with great attention to detail. The service was excellent. Friendly, attentive and regularly at the table to ask about our wishes. A real plus point. The food offered a modern interpretation of classic dishes, tasteful but not at the high level of location and service. Overall a recommended restaurant. Not an absolute must, but if you stop by here you definitely won't go wrong.

Super classy and special food. Very pleasant and elegant atmosphere. The portion sizes are just right so you don't eat too much and just get full. The food is very specially prepared.

The service was really super friendly and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed the starter (Zieglein im Walde) and the Salmon x Waldorf was also really great. Unfortunately, my partner wasn't entirely happy with the taste of his vegan cabbage rolls, but it was still good. We'll be back :)

In Germany on a business trip with colleagues from the US. At the Gasthaus Bären we requested restaurants recommendations in the Tubingen area. The service staff suggested we give 1821 a try. After realizing we should check to see if reservations are required, we made a reservation on the website for 6 at 8:15pm. We were sat promptly upon arrival, and the service staff offered us a choice of 2 tables. The restaurant was relatively booked, but the section they put us in only had 1 table occupied so we were able to enjoy our evening and have great conversations. We translated the menu on the website to English, and made selections of cocktails and beer, the Burrata and Beef Tartare appetizer, and selected a range of dinner entrees, the truffle spatzle weiner schnitzel, one day in Bangkok, and rounded out the meal with the Botanical Garden and the highly coveted and suggested Apple Dessert. From the pouring of the Alchemist drink, prompt delivery and presentation of food, fresh ingredients, to the sweet endcap we enjoyed our evening, spending 2 hours relaxing. The staff boxed up our meal, gave us business cards to share the word, and offered us complimentary sweets for the road. We met the amazing chef Sander and Alean both took car of us, with a few others along the way. The promptly cleared each round of plates and cups, make great recommendations for us to try. Made us foreigners feel welcome and relaxed. The ambiance is a vibe, the lighting was relaxing, music was on but not distracting. It looked like there were private areas, and we were bummed that we didn't get a chance to check out the outdoor space. We will be telling our supplier to bring their future customers here for Business Dinners or Specialty occasions. Definitely a MUST visit place if you're in the area. It was only an 8 minute walk from our Hotel. Open surprisingly late in relation to the other restaurants in the area.

Very nicely decorated restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was a disaster. I ate by far the most expensive and worst burger of my life here. Absolutely tasteless: apart from meat, a slice of cheese, and two slices of cucumber from a jar, there was nothing on it. No lettuce, no tomato slice, no sauce, no bacon, nothing! But there were these black, charred stripes. Were those onions? The fries were as hard as coal briquettes. They'd been in the fryer for at least an hour. I left them. What I saw on the other plates actually looked quite tasty, but the burger was a no-go. So: sorry guys, but never again!

A really nice, open atmosphere with a pleasant space design - a place to feel good! A small downer: It was quite loud, but that was probably because almost all the tables were occupied. The service? Simply great! Friendly, attentive and always with a smile. The food was also served surprisingly quickly. The dishes themselves are creative, lovingly prepared and in an absolutely sufficient portion size. A tiny point of criticism: Unfortunately, the spaetzle was a bit overcooked, and the cocktail came in a thick-walled champagne glass - a detail that somewhat spoiled the enjoyment experience. But that's whining at a high level! And an important tip to all ladies: Be sure to leave room for dessert - because the best comes last!

Enjoyed a great stay at 1821. The food is super tasty and incredibly creative. The eye is clearly eating here! The clear selection is also great, with many vegetarian and vegan variants on offer. Meat lovers will also enjoy it. It should also be emphasized that the service is very attentive, friendly and yet hardly noticeably goes about its work. The concept is rounded off by the wonderful ambience, which really invites you to linger. I'm already looking forward to another visit in the summer to the sun terrace for brunch.
