The location (in Hattingen) was very nice. A perfect blend of cozy atmosphere and stylish ambiance. You immediately feel welcome and at ease. The highlight, however, was the food! It was incredibly delicious. The dishes were not only a delight to taste, but also visually perfectly presented.

We celebrated our wedding yesterday at the 12 Apostel. It was a wonderful day! Even without booking the venue, a special area was created for us to give us some space to ourselves. Even requests like flower bouquets on the tables were wonderfully and beautifully implemented. The service was wonderful, and all our wishes were fulfilled. We would love to come back anytime!

After a hike, we had two Schoren and coffee. We were allowed to sit outside with our dog and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere.

The ambiance was nice, and the food was good. But as a guest, you don't really feel appreciated. The waitresses were a bit tense at times. Only our waitress, Alisea, was very friendly and attentive despite the full restaurant and the associated stress. This evening was certainly a test for the entire crew. There was also a wedding party in the hall. What I found less than hospitable, however, was the fact that a jukebox was blaring right behind our table, making it far too loud to have a conversation. We weren't allowed to turn it off, but instead of moving it somewhere else where it might not have been so disruptive, it had to keep blaring. So, I think as a paying guest, you should be allowed to feel comfortable, and that should be the boss's primary goal...but it didn't seem to interest him...what a shame!

We visited your restaurant as a family on August 2, 2025. Since we didn't have a reservation, we were only offered a table on the outdoor terrace. Due to a wedding reception taking place and a lack of staff, we weren't served outside and left after 25 minutes. All in all, very unsatisfactory and would not recommend it!

We had a truly wonderful evening and fantastic hospitality! Incredibly delicious food and very humorous, linguistically flexible service, something you don't often find these days. We will remember this fun evening, which we were able to spend with our international patchwork family, for a long time to come!

I was here for a wedding reception and I'm simply overwhelmed. On the one hand, I didn't even know this venue existed, even though I'm often in the area. It was simply wonderful. The staff were super friendly, the rooms were simply beautiful. The outdoor area is particularly attractive, and the large hall where the celebration took place was simply amazing. To top it all off, let's talk about the food. Man, it was incredibly delicious, and the selection was also very nice. I'll definitely visit you again privately. Since I live in Hattingen, I only know the Schulenburg as a restaurant, not as a hotel. As a restaurant, we—that is, my wife and I, as well as our guests—are usually very satisfied.

Really good food, very friendly service, and a great outdoor area. I can only recommend it. During the week, they also have special days (schnitzel day, steak day, prawn day, and spare rib day), all at reasonable prices. And the view up there is simply fantastic!

We celebrated our wedding there and it was simply MEGA - beautiful, dreamy, exactly how I imagined my wedding celebration would be!!! Even the preliminary discussions were great, the boss took unlimited time, catered to our wishes 100% and gave us great advice. The celebration itself was simply perfect. The tables were perfectly set as agreed. The staff were only super friendly, very attentive and quick, who were still in a good mood even at 3 a.m. And the food was amazing, the boss himself sliced the roast beef... all the dishes were absolutely tasty, tender, etc. We will definitely celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary there - and of course go there often for dinner, as we have been doing for years. A huge thank you to the entire team for this unforgettable celebration!!!

The location is truly great. A very nice and friendly lady and a nice young man were really dedicated. But then there were problems with an order. The lady tried very hard to resolve the issue. Suddenly, a third employee intervened without knowing the agreed arrangements. He became disrespectful and couldn't stand constructive criticism. He insulted us as we passed by. He acted like a show of force. When we tried to have a discussion with an employee to clarify the situation, the man showed no understanding and a very dominant demeanor. He also acted towards his colleague. What a shame! Everyone else was very dedicated. It seemed as if they were uncomfortable with the colleague's demeanor.

We celebrated my aunt's unforgettable 90th birthday there. The location is incredible, and the service is very friendly. We had to wait a bit for the food, for 22 people. It was very good and truly delicious. It was a truly wonderful day and a truly spectacular experience. Thank you so much

I rate the venue as a prom venue: The spread out into the different rooms and outside ruins the communal atmosphere, making it completely unsuitable for a prom, in my opinion! There weren't enough place settings (especially water glasses) for all the guests. The food was completely unsuitable for a prom. Schnitzel and fries, ONE salad, and no desserts are completely inappropriate in my opinion! At 2 a.m., the shift was over! That's when prom parties really start! Save yourself the several €10,000 and find a prom venue that will give you a night you'll remember fondly for a lifetime!

I've eaten there with my family three times. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing each time – the waitresses seemed unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. This negatively impacted the entire experience. The pizzas deserve special mention: They're large, taste really good, and definitely recommended. However, they didn't really fill us up – but that certainly varies from person to person. I once ordered the pancake, which turned out to be more of a crepe with some feta and vegetables. For a full-priced main course, that was disappointing, both in terms of quantity and fillingness – I had to order another pizza afterward. The schnitzel wasn't entirely convincing either. My grandmother found it rather mediocre, but still okay. Conclusion: If you want to eat good pizza, this is the place. However, all the other dishes, especially the service, clearly need improvement.

The service left a lot to be desired. The drinks didn't arrive for 40 minutes, and then we had to wait a very long time for our food (an hour!)... On top of that, the waiter spilled the water (which could certainly happen to any of us), but he didn't even have the decency to bring a new one. Then, after 10 minutes, he came back and wiped the table, leaving it soaking wet... We then had to take care of wiping the table ourselves...

The place was very atmospheric, but the selection for non-meat eaters was very limited. I ordered a salad with various seasonal lettuces, and I got iceberg lettuce with a few carrots and yogurt sauce. It was really disappointing, and that for more than €10. You can imagine the salad as something like you'd find at a kebab shop. There was also an aphid on the lettuce leaf :/

We celebrated our wedding at 12 Apostel on Saturday and we are overjoyed with our decision. Even in advance, our questions and wishes were always taken into account. The food and service at our wedding were sensational! All of our guests were happy and satisfied. Even a week later, everyone is raving about the wedding. Thanks to Semi and all the service staff, we were able to simply enjoy the day and wanted to thank you again! We can honestly recommend celebrating at 12 Apostel to everyone. From start to finish, everything was perfect! We will definitely come back and enjoy the delicious food with you!

We were there on a Tuesday, around 5.30pm, and wanted to eat pizza, but the waitress said the pizza was sold out??? We could have schnitzel instead today??? OK, schnitzel... it came very carelessly slapped on the plate with minimal sauce, some fries, and no side salad. The schnitzel was incredibly thin and gave us the impression it was frozen. The service was listless, and we had to wait a long time for everything, so there was no point in ordering anything else. The outside area was very unkempt. It's a shame it was much better a few years ago. Bottom line... we won't be coming back for a while.

We booked the finale of a funeral service with about 30 people outside of official opening hours. The arrangements were excellent, and the subsequent service proved to be very accommodating and responsive to all requests. I can highly recommend it.

As very satisfied regulars, we heard about the incident and find it impossible to go to a restaurant with eight dogs. You also have to consider the other guests who don't necessarily want to be surrounded by dogs while eating. Moreover, the entire outdoor area is covered, and it wasn't raining at the time. The Apostel team responded very professionally and even offered blankets despite the pleasant temperatures. We were very satisfied, as always, and can definitely recommend the 12 Apostels. Dear Apostel team, keep up the good work!

One star is still too many. We had made a reservation by phone for 8 people, each with a dog (dachshund). They confirmed over the phone that this would be no problem inside or outside. Upon arrival, we were told we could only sit outside. This wasn't an option, as it had started to rain. But it was clear that we weren't welcome. So we moved on and found another nice restaurant where our dogs were also welcome.

I can truly recommend the 12 Apostel Schulenburg restaurant without reservation! The service was wonderful, and the wait time was absolutely reasonable. The food was truly delicious. I personally highly recommend the rump steak. The special thing: Even special requests were fully accommodated, and everything was prepared exactly as requested. Absolutely worth a visit!

The service left a lot to be desired. The drinks didn't arrive for 20 minutes, and then we had to wait a very long time for our food. The mushroom cream sauce was actually a hollandais sauce with three mushrooms. The pizza was okay. Overall, the long wait wasn't worth it.

Rating: Disappointing service on Mother's Day - unfortunately no comparison to previous visits I have been to the Zwölf Apostle in Hattingen several times and have always been very satisfied - the service was always attentive and almost first class. Unfortunately, our visit on Mother's Day today was a big disappointment. After we were seated, we were hardly noticed: no one asked whether we liked the food, whether we wanted any more drinks or whether everything else was OK. Our empty plates sat on the table for a full 20 minutes without anyone clearing them away. When we finally spoke to the service staff about it, all criticisms were flatly rejected. They want to “pass it on to the executive floor” – a rather evasive reaction that has little to do with customer orientation. Especially on a busy day like Mother's Day, it would be appropriate to better manage capacities and personnel planning. If the à la carte business suffers from celebrations or a crowded terrace, you should take action - for example by limiting the number of seats or through a better training concept for the team. I have been working in the catering industry myself for many years and know that a simple apology, perhaps a small schnapps on the house – that could have taken the edge off a lot. But a bitter aftertaste remains. What a shame about an otherwise really recommendable restaurant!

Very nice service staff, beautifully located restaurant. On Mother's Day we were served very nicely by their service worker Aida, we had a lot of fun and laughed a lot. The food was very tasty. Always happy to come here.

We were in the restaurant for the second time on a Monday for pizza day around 5:45 p.m Waiting time for food for both visitors 1 hour each. On the first visit there was a company in the hall. So understand the long wait. Yesterday there were only a few customers in the restaurant and the outside terrace, but we still waited 1 hour. The drinks we ordered were brought to the next table. Nobody came to take the order. The two ladies often made themselves known, but for a long time no one from the service department responded. Positive: The restaurant has a very nice ambience that is second to none.

We always enjoy going there to eat. Very nice service. The food has always been very tasty, no matter what you chose. Sometimes the waiting time is a little longer, but that doesn't bother us as we have time to have a leisurely meal anyway. When the weather is good, the large outdoor area invites you to relax. Parking spaces directly in front of the house. If you would like to go for a walk, you can do so directly in the adjacentschulenberger forest.

I was booked as a photographer at a wedding at 12 Apostles and can only recommend it. The hall is beautiful and was a perfect size for around 100 guests. An excellent meal was served. The service staff was attentive and friendly. The hall and the adjacent forest were ideal for the photo shoot with the bride and groom.

We were there spontaneously. We were “lucky” that there was still a table available. This was in the large hall, where a year meeting with around 40 people including a picture show took place. Drinks and appetizers came quite quickly. Broken mushrooms, pizza rolls with aioli, bruschetta and starter plate for two were beautifully presented and delicious. The main course took a little longer because the group got their food beforehand. After 2.5 hours our order came. Veal schnitzel, baked potato with chicken breast strips were delicious. The meat of the spare ribs was well done, unfortunately there was too much marinade for our taste (there was a thick layer on it). Two meals were eaten incorrectly and one was completely forgotten. The spaghetti with aglio e olio with crab was delivered later and was also delicious. The grill plates that were then delivered were not tasty, the halved “Bratwurst?” dry and slightly charred, the meat dry. Too bad. The staff was friendly and tried hard.

We were there for dinner with a birthday party on Valentine's Day. Due to the special date, a musician accompanied the evening with singing. The ambience is very stylish, the singing suited the occasion well. The service was attentive and even though it was very busy, the dishes arrived at the same time (a star deducted because we had to remember the drinks and one dish initially came wrong). The food tasted very good, so a successful evening and a recommendation!

We were here for funeral coffee. We are very satisfied. The rolls were freshly prepared with salad, and the selection of cakes was also good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price/performance ratio is also right. I can only recommend this location.

We were here with six people and in the end we were extremely disappointed with the visit. It started with the order: When we ordered a pancake, we were immediately advised not to order it because it would take a long time. The way this was communicated to us was not very professional. We then didn't order it. Nevertheless, we had to wait 30 minutes for the starters and another almost 1.5 hours for our main courses!! During the entire time, no staff came by to take additional drinks or clear away used dishes. When the food finally came, it was at least good and filling. When it comes to the pasta, however, you have to ask yourself why you decided to throw mountains of parmesan on it so that you almost only taste cheese...well, at least the rest tasted good. We wanted to have the rest of the pizza packed up, but only received a box with the comment "You can put that in there yourself with your hands." So service itself is a disaster and not recommended. Even if it was a Saturday evening, that's not possible.

Catastrophe, a funeral party with 40 people was registered. Tables were not set.Coffee was available after 30 minutes (although not for everyone).At some point there was soup (also not for everyone).There were loveless sandwiches and cake immediately afterwards.The waiter was overwhelmed, which you could also tell from the look on his face . He didn't ask if you wanted something else to drink. It was clear to me that I wouldn't have any major celebrations there.

We ate here with 15 people for my mother's birthday party. The food was very tasty, the service did its best, but was a bit overwhelmed by a wedding in the neighboring hall. Despite everything, we had fun and it was a lovely evening.

We were there for Christmas. There was a good selection of dishes, including "Christmas" ones, such as goose etc. The service was phenomenal, something I haven't experienced so well in a long time: our waitress was always attentive and we never had to wait long. The food was average good. The schools castle is atmospherically beautiful. All in all, a lovely evening spent

Nice restaurant with a historical flair. The food is very, very good and you can sit nicely in older rooms. Waiters used to be smarter and more sophisticated before the time of the 12 Apostles, but you can still eat very well in a beautiful setting.

A star restaurant that places great value on service and quality... and then charges an extra 1 euro for every little sachet of ketchup and mayonnaise is just pathetic!!! I was there for the last time!!!

We had reserved a table for our office, which was set up for us in the otherwise empty large hall. It was freezing cold in the room, so we insisted on getting another table in another room. This was also possible after a short time. Of course, the hall is high, 12 meters, and therefore not easy to heat. But then I simply don't open the room because the 3 indoor heaters don't help at all. So we were happy to be sitting in a better heated room after a short time. The food and service were good, the prices were in the upper price segment, and the atmosphere was very nice and stately.
