Nine of my friends and I recently tried a restaurant. The food was really good—some of the dishes were even quite tasty. However, our overall experience was unfortunately marred by the poor service. We had to wait an hour and thirty minutes—sometimes even up to two hours—for our food. If we hadn't decided to request a takeout portion of our order, we probably would have waited even longer. When we got up to politely ask why it was taking so long, the staff evaded our questions and didn't give us a clear answer. It took three follow-up calls before our request was even acknowledged—which was truly frustrating. There were also problems with the drinks: One glass was far too sweet, another completely tasteless. Furthermore, three ordered drinks were missing, and we had to ask several times before they finally arrived. When paying, we were overcharged for two drinks—if we hadn't done the math ourselves, we wouldn't have noticed. On a positive note, I'd like to highlight that a friendly employee came over to us at the end, apologized, and tried to explain the long wait. We really appreciated that. My suggestion: If the kitchen takes more than 30–40 minutes to serve the food, this should be communicated to the guest when ordering. The explanation that the restaurant was full and we were a large group doesn't convince us – we arrived early and were still served last, even though we didn't order an excessive number of dishes. Overall, this visit was a huge disappointment for us. We had been looking forward to a pleasant evening, but were very disappointed by the poor service, lack of communication, and long wait. I was truly annoyed and frustrated – that's not the kind of experience you want in any restaurant.

Food was just ok at its best. The amount of food served was very little, with almost no meat on it (I've ordered the one with meat).

Very tasty food. I always have vegetarian Pho Xiao and I always love it. I absolutely cannot understand the bad reviews!

I can only recommend Van May. I come here very often because the food tastes so good, you are always welcomed in a friendly manner and you just feel very comfortable. The service is great, the employees are really nice people and the atmosphere is very nice and you feel very comfortable. The food always tastes very good and the prices are great too.👍✨️

I ordered food and got a salmonella infection from raw egg/chicken. I am now suffering extremely. too bad :(

I have lived in the area for 18 years and I love this restaurant. The prices are fair, the food tastes great and fresh and the employees are very friendly. You can pay in cash and by card. There is an indoor area, a closed area and an open outdoor area. There is always nice heating in winter. Even outside. I love Sao Mai.

Cool space for a dinner , for some quality food

My absolute favorite Vietnamese in Friedenau and the surrounding area. Fresh ingredients, large portions and always delicious! Lots of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Always happy to come back. 🥟🍋‍🟩🥰
