The hotel's unique location makes an impressive impression at first. Unfortunately, this immediately disappears when you enter the room. There was unfortunately no trace of the loving details of the pattern pictures, such as the bed canopy, stylish murals or borders on the walls. The supposedly antique furniture is lined up next to doctor's office wallpaper and modern vinyl flooring. The modern-looking mirror wardrobe reveals a view of the old, dirty carpet that is still slumbering under the vinyl. The old, carelessly painted white bathroom door is held in place by a makeshift solution on Spax screws. Any hint of castle flair has disappeared here. Instead, the atmosphere is more reminiscent of a mechanic's apartment from the 70s. The very dated wellness and spa area does not deserve this title either. We found a broken steam bath that would have fit about 4 people, an outdoor sauna that was closed without any reason, and an indoor sauna that was uncomfortably cramped with 5 people. The wood is already blackened by sweat from many years of lack of care. Individual boards with LEDs have been screwed onto the ceiling of the sauna, which was probably intended to look like a starry sky. In reality, however, this makeshift construction is all the more frustrating. What annoyed us most, however, is that there is no relaxation area. There are only 3 or 4 loungers available in the pool. With 4 people, the sauna capacity for an entire hotel is therefore exhausted. Alternatively, there is a lounge, to get to which you have to walk around the outside of the building through a glass door, down what feels like 50 steps, only to find that there are also guests in street clothes there. The pool itself is equipped with extremely slippery tiles. As soon as we entered, another guest warned us that it was slippery. Despite the warning, we both almost fell. They definitely saved on the anti-slip tiles that every swimming pool uses. Wellness is definitely out of the question here. So all that glitters is not gold after all.
