We spontaneously ordered a pizza to go, by chance. So we can't say much about the service or atmosphere. But the pizza was absolutely delicious. We were thrilled.

The restaurant was sold, and I used to love eating there. The pasta I had today was inedible. It was a greasy cream sauce with pepper. It felt like they only used heavy cream. It tasted awful, and charging €16 for it was really disappointing. 😞

The food was always great, but on our last visit, my cannelloni were only lukewarm and the cheese wasn't even melted, and the kids' pizza was completely burnt around the edges. It's a shame, we always enjoyed eating there or ordering in.

Despite the late hour, about 30 minutes before closing, I was served with a smile. The pizza was very good. I recommend it.

TL;RD: Cash only, no credit cards! Average pizza. The pizza was decent, but nothing to write home about. I'm docking the rating because they take only cash (and provide no receipt) -- it's their choice, but not what customers expect at the end of 2025. Therefore, it should be clearly posted at the door and on the menu -- customers shouldn't find out after they are already seated or, worse, at the end of the meal.

Simple restaurant with very good food.

Unfortunately, it took forever for the customers (not just us) to be served. In our case, with two very small children, it was particularly tough. The pizza was a bit burnt; they tried to cook it too quickly. The salad and pasta for children were okay. I really liked the staff, who took responsibility and apologized accordingly. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we wouldn't recommend it... but maybe it was just a bad day.

The good reviews drew us to the restaurant. They were probably generated by the previous owner. We experienced completely overwhelmed service. The restaurant wasn't full, and the young man seemed completely disorganized. We waited over an hour for two pizzas. Other guests left because they weren't served for a long time. The pizza was okay and the value for money was good. There was no ambiance to speak of; it felt like a snack bar. Several guests put on their jackets, but this didn't prompt the service to close the outside door. Too bad. With a lot of tourism, you can hope for customers the next day; in any other location, this team would have to close faster than they could make money. Speaking of money: No card payments, no receipts, paper receipts that weren't found at the cashier.

I called them few times to asked if they can do a surprise delivery to my boyfriend who was in the city for one night. They agreed, we talked 3 times during the day and at the end they didn’t deliver the pizza and didn’t even call me to let me know. Very unprofessional.

A pizzeria in the heart of the old town. Despite the Rhine being on fire, we managed to get a table for 10 people. The food came quickly and was delicious. The service was excellent.

The pictures do not do it justice, pizza is doughy, pasta is over priced for boxed nodules and lackluster sauce. Not worth the stop if you have had Italian food anywhere else.

We had actually reserved a table, but due to train problems and a very late arrival, we couldn't make it. Instead, we were given the opportunity to order food for pickup after our arrival, and they even lent us cutlery. The pasta was very, very tasty. Thank you for your flexibility; it saved our evening.

The pizza tasted delicious, but unfortunately, our pizza was lukewarm and not fully cooked. The waitress didn't understand this and touched the pizza in front of us, saying it was warm, which was unacceptable. At the end, the touched pizza was briefly put back in the oven, where it was fully baked. The waitress was very rude and unfriendly during the incident. A very cute restaurant from the outside, but the interior lacks attention to detail. We sat near the restrooms, and there was occasionally a pee smell, which wasn't great either...

The pizza was really delicious, airy, and well-topped. The only thing was the base, which I thought was a bit too much dough. It could have been thinner for my taste (but that's definitely a matter of taste). Unfortunately, I have to deduct a few stars because of a "small side salad" that really only consisted of a simple leaf salad, a few cucumbers, and tomatoes... For €6, and some of the salad wasn't even properly washed... Conclusion: Pizza was great, salad was a flop. The young man who served was truly more than accommodating!

During our stay in St. Goar, the two of us were looking for a restaurant where we could get something decent to eat after a long day of hiking, and we were not disappointed at this pizzeria. Although it was small, we were able to snag a spot on the cozy veranda in front of the house and enjoyed a delicious pizza and salad. The very friendly service staff also deserves praise. If I'm hiking through here again, I'll be happy to stop here again.

July 2025 Unfortunately, the ambiance in this pizzeria has deteriorated significantly. It feels like you're sitting in a train station concourse. No table decorations, no tablecloth. Everything resembles a fast-food restaurant. The salad tasted like water, and the salmon pasta is NOT recommended. The waitress cleared the plates away even though some of us were still eating! Card payments are also not accepted. And that's in this day and age! No soap in the restroom either! I really regretted eating there with my guests. Never again! July 2025

The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. It's located on a quiet street in St. Goar. It's definitely worth a visit. If you want to sit outside, be sure to arrive when the restaurant opens or make a reservation. It's a very small but nice terrace.

They wanted us to stay in the direct sunlight. The restaurant was empty, but they wouldn't let us move the table 8 inches to get out of the sun. They refused to serve us pizza, but forced us to chug our beers at €6 a pop and leave. I asked if they could recommend other pizza joints and they could not. I can fully recommend Goar Bistro 200m away. Their food, atmosphere, and service is 10/10. Near the river and they accommodated our request for an umbrella from the sun. Do not go to alla Fontana. Terrible service, bad atmosphere and who knows about the food. Good times can be found 200m away at Goar Bistro. Other reviews refer to their cozy atmosphere, but what that really means is the alleyway near the trash dumpsters.

Had dinner with salad and penne al’arrabbiata. Very disappointing plates of salad and pasta. Portions were far too small. While the pizza’s are huge - strange difference. I had to eat some bread after to get full. The pasta was overcooked and the sauce was completely bland and boring.

Rating with two stars because the staff was awkward but not unfriendly. Unfortunately the food was inadequate. The Insalata Fontana was drowned in heavy sauce and tuna, the chopped onion was bitter,... The taste of the spinach cannelloni was indefinable and lukewarm (also applies to the temperature). An excellent and delicious Italian restaurant in Sankt Goar. We have been coming here for several years when we go on a mini vacation. The food is always delicious and the service was very helpful, friendly and fast. You can feel free to eat a delicious pizza or pasta here. This pizza was richly filled and tasty. This Italian is a bit hidden in a side street. You can park directly along the Rhine and cross an alley to the Italian. We all had a very tasty meal. The restaurant does not have very many seats, if you want to eat here, make a reservation in advance!

Eat: The food was good, we would describe it as solid. There was a larger selection on the menu from starters to pizza and pasta to baked goods and even desserts. The menu was suitable for vegetarians. I would say vegan limited - if you leave out the cheese on pizza. We had pizza and pasta, which we thought was good but not comparable to a real Italian restaurant. In our opinion the food was of good "snack" quality but not of the quality we would expect from a traditional Italian restaurant. Service: The waiter was very nice. Several service staff could be seen in the room and behind the counter. One of the waiters seemed a bit unsure or awkward, perhaps he was new or was working as a temporary worker. Here, too, we didn't have the quality of a long-standing, traditional company, but it was solidly good! Ambiance: I think the ambience seemed a bit loveless and a bit uncomfortable inside. There was a terrace outside that looked cozy, but we couldn't use it due to the weather. Summary: According to our Google research, the range of restaurants in St. Goar was limited. Unfortunately, the ones in the exposed locations were rated very poorly, which is why we decided on this "Italian" that was rated well. This Italian restaurant is good, you can eat here with peace of mind, but you shouldn't expect star cuisine here.

The dream of a dough... I've eaten a lot of pizzas now, you could say pizza is my life. I find it all the more remarkable that I was only now able to get to know the pizza dough that was absolutely perfect for me. I couldn't even have imagined something so airy and soft and at the same time crispy and aromatic. The toppings are also very tasty, although I would like to give visitors to this restaurant and fans of real Italian pizza an important tip, which I unfortunately only found out afterwards because I asked the waiter about it. Say you want less cheese on your pizza! A little too much cheese, by the way, that was the only point of criticism I raised, after which I was pointed out that the locals here in St Goar prefer the pizza to be cheese-heavy, even though it would never be served like that in Italy. Which brings me to the next point, the service. The Alla Fontana team worked hand in hand, very quickly and with a lot of good humor - despite a very full house on a Wednesday lunchtime. Alla Fontana is a typical Italian restaurant. It is quietly located in a side street with a cozy outdoor area, covered with vines. The guest room itself makes a rather sober impression. The service is friendly, the ordering goes quickly and you don't have to wait long for your food, even though the restaurant was full at the time. The bruschetta is crispy, the salads are fresh and the pasta is good in size and taste. In my opinion, the sauces are not homemade. The prices are quite reasonable compared to other places in the area. For what you get for it, it's absolutely fine. The Middle Rhine Valley is unfortunately somewhat backward compared to other tourist areas, so you have to pay in cash here too. Card payment is not possible, so you should know that before visiting. However, I had to notice a major drawback when I visited the toilet (men). I neglected to cross the large yellow puddle in the middle of the room as the owner urgently needs to take action. My conclusion is that given the location and the food, I would visit the restaurant again if it weren't for the toilet.

Finding places like this is why I like to avoid the highway when travelling. The pizza is delicious, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the prices are very reasonable. I had a good time and can gladly recommend it.

We came off the train late in the evening hungry and thirsty but all of the restaurants one by one told us, sorry - kitchen is closed. We spied this little place down an alley. They also said that they were closing but they offered to make us a pizza and sodas for take away. So kind!! The pizza was fabulous!!

Located in a small town on the Rhein River, St Goar DE. The town is lovely. Many cool older buildings with many places to get traditional German Food. Never thought I would find a great pie here. They make great pies with a nice Pilsner on Draft. Either get there early when they open, or make a reservation, because they get busy and lines start. They also do take out.

I ordered a pizza with rocket and parmesan without ham. I got ham on it (I'm a vegetarian). I also put basil on it instead of arugula!! In addition, my friends' pizza was cut, but unfortunately mine wasn't (had to walk back). No card reader Pizza was too salty and too expensive.

We had a first-class meal here. It was no problem that we arrived 30 minutes before the afternoon break and were greeted very warmly. We were given a place on the pleasantly shady terrace. The pizza was perfect - crispy, well topped and juicy, the salad tasty and rich.
