The Iko is certainly the most extraordinary restaurant in Osnabrück. This is not just due to the Michelin star, but also to many factors. If you drive out of town on Mindener Straße and turn onto Stadtweg, you might not initially think there is a restaurant. Surrounded by single-family homes, the IKO is tucked away behind a long left-hand bend. The IKO really only combines the best that ambitious gastronomy has to offer. The highest quality, a well-designed atmosphere and a friendly and cool team. We chose the 5-course menu, which left nothing to be desired from start to finish. In addition to this, there are “greetings from the kitchen”, which are a surprise every time. The team impresses with its wit, know-how and friendliness. Here everyone can come as he or she likes without having to dress up. We felt so comfortable that we didn't actually want to leave. Tom, who unfortunately wasn't there, and his team: 7 out of 5 points, thank you for a wonderful evening. We are still inspired. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy any course of our menu. The dishes were creative and unusually prepared, as is usual in star restaurants, but the taste was not consistent. An example of this is the strong cabbage taste of the black cabbage leaves in the otherwise sweet dessert. The service gave us the impression that a job was being done here. In any case, there was no passion for one's own actions, so there was no warm atmosphere. We would have liked to at least have been asked before a new bottle of mineral water was opened, as we like to switch to still water for dessert. We found the industrial design ambience appealing. Unfortunately, the chairs without armrests do not invite you to linger for a long time.
