Friendly service, got a table despite calling at short notice, food plentiful and delicious.

The food was generally very, very good. The rump steak was excellent. The only thing missing was a bit of bread with the pumpkin soup to round it off.

The food was very tasty and plentiful. Very child-friendly. The nuggets and schnitzel for the kids were fresh and homemade. They also served cordon bleu and spare ribs. We were very satisfied.

While on vacation in Oberwiesenthal, I was looking for a quaint restaurant for dinner. I called and got a last-minute reservation for four people. Very nice atmosphere—quaint, cozy, small, and exquisite. Reasonable value for money, top-notch burgers, spare ribs, and roulade—all delicious. The Colaweizen beer wasn't on the menu, but I got it anyway. The wait time was reasonable, service was friendly, and the restrooms and dining room were exceptionally clean. We spontaneously stopped there for a late lunch on a Friday. The waiter, the owner, was very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, although the pumpkin soup as a starter was unfortunately only lukewarm. Hence 4 points instead of 5. All in all, a lovely, rustic, authentic spot in O-thal.

We spent two days at the Zur Schachtelbud restaurant in Oberwiesenthal and were absolutely thrilled! The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, and we received a warm welcome, even with our dog, which isn't always the case. The food is hearty, fresh, and incredibly delicious. We tried several dishes: the burger, the spare ribs, the pumpkin soup, and the tarte flambée. Every single dish was a delight and highly recommended. We particularly liked the generous portions and the lovingly prepared presentation.

A recommendation caught our attention and we reserved a table (Sunday at 1 p.m.) just in case, as everything was booked the night before. We had great weather and were able to fully enjoy our stay in the beer garden just above the restaurant. Very attentive and friendly service, great food—what more could you want for a birthday? There were five of us eating here. My wife had the trout and I had the rump steak. My daughter had the children's rice pudding with sugar and cinnamon. My wife was very enthusiastic about the trout, and my rump steak was cooked to just the right medium and tasted excellent. My daughter was also very happy and ate the rice pudding completely. Even though we had to wait a bit for our orders, the service and the atmosphere were very friendly and cozy.

The Schachtelbud was recommended to us. We went to the beer garden, which is small but nice. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. We'd happily go back.

We once ordered the ribs, which were very tender and well marinated. They tasted delicious. As were the accompanying potato wedges. Large portions and good value for money. We also had the spinach dumplings. Nice, warm, delicious dumplings (3 dumplings). They had a pleasant, delicious spinach flavor, and the sauce was good too! There's also a separate children's menu. 👍🏼 Our server was incredibly friendly, and the food was prepared quickly. We deducted one star for the ambiance. It was decorated "to match" the food, a typical German restaurant, which isn't a problem, but the furniture seemed quite dated. Personally, that didn't bother me at all. But hey, to each his own.

The food was really delicious and the portions were large. We paid a total of around €140 for 5 dishes and 5 drinks. The restrooms are worth mentioning: clean and with a pleasant smell. I didn't like the fact that ketchup and mayo were only available in small plastic sachets. Unfortunately, the service disappointed me. We waited about 50 minutes for our food, which I thought was a lot. When we politely asked for a change to our meal, we received a rude and unaccommodating response. What a shame!

We spontaneously got a table for seven on Friday evening. We received a warm welcome and immediately felt at home. I had very tender spare ribs with very crispy potato wedges. The other dishes at our table were also lovingly prepared and very good. The service was always attentive and friendly. We returned to the hotel happy and full and would love to come back!

We're sitting in the box right now. The Camembert (starter) and roulade food was excellent. My wife had the very tasty burger and our little chicken nuggets and fries (apparently all homemade, no frozen). I tasted the fries and loved them. We will definitely come back on our next vacation.

A lot of price, little performance. We came to the Kastenbud on a recommendation, but above all because we were very hungry. When I got there, I was excited to choose the open potatoes with herb quark. However, a medium-sized open potato arrived with around a shot glass full of herb quark, which I ended up paying €15 for. It tasted okay.

We had dinner here, the menu didn't promise too much, because the dish: "Beef roulade with dumplings and apple red cabbage" turned out to be a small beef roulade with 2 dumplings and 2 spoonfuls of red cabbage. A price of €23 is too steep for me.

Very good food, table reserved as a precaution. So far everything is good. But, after a long wait for the food, when we ordered a second glass of wine it was clear that it would be better if we left straight away. Dinner was almost finished. But when do you treat yourself to such a lovely evening? The two of us enjoyed the evening from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., then we were "helped out", in the sense of, now drink up, the next customers are already ready. Very unsympathetic and not only gives me points, but also no more recommendations, and we will definitely find something else nice in Othal. It's a shame that sales come before hospitality.

It's annoying when the waiter offers you a beer at 9:24 p.m., which is within opening hours until 10:00 p.m., and then the boss at the regulars' table says there's nothing left today. Thanks again

Being turned away for a table during opening hours is very rude. You should think again about customer friendliness, as many tables were free. Or at least adjust the opening times if the boss of the house wants to be served alone with his friends at the “regulars’ table”.

It took a moment for the waiter to reach us because it was very busy and he was serving alone. But that wasn't a bad thing so we were able to look at and enjoy the rustic and cozy restaurant. When the waiter brought the cards, it didn't take long and the drinks, along with food and pens for the child, were there. The food, beef roulade with red cabbage and dumplings, cordon bleu with fries and pasta with tomato sauce were very tasty, freshly prepared and tasty. There was nothing to complain about. Price performance is absolutely appropriate. Likewise the warmth and friendliness. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

Once we made the reservation everything went like clockwork. Delicious food and also a small vegetarian selection. So recommended.

Nobody answers the phone. Table reservation is not possible because it is fully booked at all times. But when we were there at around 5 p.m. all the tables were free. But a condition was not possible.

We ate delicious tarte flambée here in the evening and treated ourselves to a sweet dish for dessert. Very friendly service, we got a seat without a reservation (Wednesday) and were served very warmly. Thank you!

We ate here late for lunch after a hike. Thanks to the nice weather we sat outside under the parasol. The service was friendly and we were served quickly. For dinner we decided on the burger and the sauerkraut dumplings with goulash. It's not cheap, but both the burger patty and sauerkraut patty were of excellent quality.

We were guests for lunch yesterday and felt very comfortable. The service was very friendly and accommodating, the drinks were ice cold and the food was hearty and delicious. Haxe and ERZgeburger are a very good choice and definitely recommended.

Small, comfortably furnished restaurant that is very inconspicuous at first glance. The food you get on site is simply overwhelming in terms of taste! The spare ribs were extremely tender, the burger and side dishes were also damn tasty & we have never eaten such a delicious chocolate cake with a perfect liquid center.
