We ate there during our vacation; the food was very good, home-style cooking. And the staff was friendly. I particularly appreciated one waiter; to see someone with so much passion and heart and soul at work, especially in such a busy environment, was simply fantastic.

The room is bare minimum but clean for the most part. The windows and mirror were not very clean. No shower gel or other amenities provided. There isn’t even a tray or anything untie shower to hold soap. The bed isn’t the most comfortable but it was clean. A small refrigerator is available and two chairs in our room. The location is great, less than 5 min walk to the beach. Restaurant also available, pretty good food and fast service.

Unfortunately, I only had the small single room this time. But it's perfectly adequate for a short stay. ALL rooms have just been freshly renovated! 👌 The team's hospitality is top-notch! I think the breakfast buffet is fantastic – a great selection, despite the limited space. The à la carte menu is top-notch! Grandma couldn't have made the Königsberger Klopse better 😉🙏🏼 And the Hamburg schnitzel was also great! 🙏🏼 I'd be happy to come back anytime! Greetings from Potsdam

We've eaten there seven days in a row, and have done so for seven years. The price/performance ratio is good, the service is good, everything is great, the team is great. I don't mean any harm – maybe it's just not my vibe ✌️. Classic restaurant with a classic menu 🍽️ – German home cooking, but unfortunately rather unspectacular. Anyone can probably cook it at home 👨‍🍳. The service? Not rude, but not so much that you'd want to become a regular. Prices a bit more ambitious 💸 than the dishes themselves. Highlight: There's a vending machine in the restroom where you can buy condoms and even vibrators 😂 – in case you want to satisfy other cravings after the schnitzel. 🤷🏼‍♂️In my opinion, you can eat better nearby; I tried a few things here on vacation 🏖️.

We visited "Zur Schabe" in Glowe for the first time in 2018 and were more than impressed by the team and especially the food. We were back last Sunday, but this year we wouldn't recommend the restaurant "Zur Schabe" to anyone! The table was reserved and we received an enthusiastic and extremely friendly welcome, but we were only allowed to stay for a maximum of 1.5 hours. Although we asked for some time to choose a meal, this was ignored, and the waiter took the food as best he could. Since I didn't really find anything, I later decided on the salad plate with shrimp for €18.90. The salad was completely chopped and served on a tiny plate with shrimp on top, which didn't look very appetizing as a main course 👎 (cucumber and green peppers were the main ingredients), and the appearance and quality were perhaps only suitable for a side dish. The photos on the website are unfortunately not what we received. Then, three times, they tried to occupy the table next to us with another 4-5 guests! Due to the cramped seating (and chair backs), this was simply not possible. Not that we were constantly annoyed during our meal, these guests were moved later. The potatoes in the grützwurst were swimming in sauerkraut broth. After ordering, no waiter came to ask if we wanted anything else... like dessert, drinks, etc. We felt much more welcome and had a delicious meal at other locations. We won't be coming here again.

Since there was already a dog at the table next to the one we had originally reserved, the waiter quickly suggested a suitable alternative. The food was very delicious. We eat here often. My favorite is the schnitzel with cauliflower. The schnitzel has a great crispy coating. You can sit outside when the weather is nice, and the inside is very quaint and cozy. The service is always attentive and friendly. There's parking practically right outside. Always worth a visit, both for us locals and tourists.

Wir hatten online einen Tisch reserviert. Hat auch alles geklappt. Wir hatten gebratenes Dorschfilet und dazu einen Grauburgunder. Perfekte Wahl, perfektes Essen. Dem ist nichts hinzuzufügen. Die Leute am Nachbartisch hatten irgendwas mit Schnitzel, das ebenfalls klasse aussah und eine sehr große Portion war. Ebenfalls zu erwähnen ist das überaus freundliche und aufmerksame Personal. Unbedingt empfehlenswert 👍🏼

We went to the restaurant for dinner. We were greeted and served by an extremely friendly team. The schnitzel, breaded in-house and not as thin as it is served these days, was really good. They came with fried potatoes, which made it a bit dry without a side salad. At around €18, it's not exactly cheap without greens. But you can also add a small salad for around €8. That brings the total price for a schnitzel to around €25 per person. It feels like the price of energy is paying for everything, although it has stabilized somewhat. Conclusion: Eating out is becoming more and more of a luxury...

Modern, clean rooms. The beds are great, and the bathrooms are clean and tidy. There's even a small refrigerator. The breakfast was also very good. There's a large selection and something for everyone.

We had dinner there. Luckily a table was reserved at lunchtime. The schnitzel was unbeatably good. Thin, very good breading, not greasy. Likewise the fried potatoes. The portion was almost impossible to manage. Leftovers are packed to take away in a climate-neutral manner. Service top. Any time.

First we looked for the restaurant where we had been five years ago and realized that it wasn't it. So we drove on and went to Fischerhus. They weren't so friendly there today and turned us away. So we went back to the Gasthaus zur Schaabe because we liked the atmosphere. Here too, all places were reserved. In the end we were not only full, but also had a lovely evening in a great atmosphere with very friendly service staff. Everyone was very friendly and the food was simply great! You had to pay directly upon arrival without seeing the room. TV didn't work, we had to ask more often. An email to the guesthouse because the boss could not be reached personally has remained unanswered to this day. The double bed was two single beds pushed together, so there was wood in the middle. Something like this should be expressly mentioned, it was not a double bed. Breakfast was also very poorly prepared and monotonous. You could put more heart and soul into it. Is not recommended for us. Surroundings are super beautiful.

We have now been to the Gasthaus zur Schaabe for the second time and were once again completely satisfied. The rooms are very clean, renovated and cozy - you immediately feel at home. The breakfast offers everything you need and leaves nothing to be desired. The location is great. The beach is just a few minutes walk away. There is a charge for parking directly at the house, but it is very practical. Overall, great value for money – we’d love to come back!

Actually, every time we stay in Rügen we go for lunch at Schaabe. Always tasty and always very good service. The restaurant is practically a bit of a “cult” for many long-time holidaymakers on Rügen.

Classic and delicious German cuisine. Schnitzel comes in several variants, making it difficult to decide because everything on the menu is delicious. We chose the classic one with fries. On a plate we got a huge schnitzel with salad and fries. Thick and well seasoned, the salad is fresh and delicious and the fries are crispy and not soaked in fat - poetry! The portion cannot be eaten in one sitting. And delicious black "Schwarzbier" beer, which is not available in every restaurant. Additionally, there are various local distillates on the bar. We decided on raspberry distillate which simply blew us away. Delicious, delicate and full of raspberry flavor! The staff was very nice and polite. Full professionalism and a friendly atmosphere. We had the opportunity to be here earlier last year. This place is always bustling with life even before and after the holiday season. It has great decor and atmosphere. Not only vacationers but also locals come here, which speaks for itself. Last time we ate "Hamburger Schnitzel" with fried potatoes and fried eggs. Delicious, I recommend this classic to everyone. On the next trip to Rügen, we will definitely come across delicious food!

I can only praise the last two stays in the restaurant. Very friendly service, balanced prices and good cuisine. The hop blossom tea was excellent and cool, the fisherman's spirit was good and the employees always had a good word for it. I would like to come back, even if only next year. 😉

The restaurant is located right on the main street, which makes it easy to find, but perhaps a bit noisy in summer? We were there for dinner and had reserved a table digitally. The service was very attentive, friendly and quick without seeming hectic. The tables were not placed too close to the neighboring table. We had various cod dishes, along with a small salad that was big enough for us to share. Everything tasted very good and was appetizingly prepared. We would love to come back again.

Even when all the tables were occupied, a place was made available for us right at the bar. The interaction between colleagues works perfectly. Now for the best part, the food is always a pleasure. There has never been anything to complain about so far. The food is fresh, delicious and tastes wonderful. A visit to a restaurant here is always a must when we are on Rügen. Our personal experience here in February 2025: The room was pretty run-down. We were able to change rooms upon request, but even that had serious flaws: broken blinds, beds falling apart, very thin summer duvets in winter, no extra blankets available, and the room was unheated upon arrival, with outside temperatures around zero degrees. The breakfast buffet can't compare to any of our visits to other guesthouses with the same quality of amenities. The service staff stand around bored at the counter or in the kitchen instead of tidying up the buffet, let alone restocking it. Those who sleep in a little longer and arrive late for breakfast are left with nothing but the leftovers from the previous guests. They don't even ask if everything is okay or if they need anything else. Furthermore, we experienced a lot of construction noise at breakfast, as renovations were underway. We ordered fish for dinner, which, instead of being fried, seemed to have been quickly fried in old frying oil. The only positive aspects for us were that there was plenty of parking and the seafront location made the inn attractive. Our conclusion: zero stars for quality, service, and price. That's just not right here. Too bad, we won't be coming back.
