Nice service, quiet location and good prices

I suspect there are differences between high and low season here. My review refers to a visit on September 30, 2025, in the early evening (6 p.m.). I got a table outside on the terrace with a sea view. Since no one was around, I quickly went inside and said we'd sit outside. They then asked me to take the menus with me, okay? After 10 minutes, I went back inside because I wanted to know if we were ordering inside or if someone was coming out. The chef (who was also the waiter) then insisted on being served and briefly listed how many guests he was currently serving. After another 10 minutes, he came out and took our drink and food orders. Drinks arrived quickly. The homemade raspberry lemonade is probably raspberry syrup with fizz. A bit of a shame. They could improve the whole thing with frozen fruit or something. Aperol Spritz, on the other hand, was good. The food arrived within a reasonable time. Jägerschnitzel with fries: The schnitzel was tough and unseasoned, the mushroom sauce only tasted of white wine – in my opinion, this should have been pointed out to the customer beforehand. The frozen fries were good, though, and the salad was fresh with homemade vinaigrette. Fish and chips: Five small pieces of fish, a bit sticky. The potato chips were good frozen goods – very tasty and crispy. The homemade remoulade was very mustardy – okay if you like it. We waited a long time after the meal again until the chef, waiter, etc., came to us. He asked if everything was okay. I gave brief feedback on the meat and the sauce. Unfortunately, he's resistant to advice, as is often the case. He generally doesn't season the schnitzel because some customers don't like it and they should just get salt from inside. It's a shame, I would have been in the store for the third time, unnecessarily. The service is different. They made my sauce with a lot of white wine – he agreed, but he didn't care. Unfortunately, no apology after my criticism, nothing. We skipped dessert. Too bad – actually a nice place, great view, but the quality of the food is certainly seasonal (I assume).

Comfortable atmosphere, fun and friendly service, delicious food, great value for money, would love to come back

I'd like to rate the food, but there's no service... literally none that even remotely needs to charge. Let alone take an order in any way... oh well. The menu isn't up to date either... so you can actually save yourself the trouble of looking at it, and the opening hours seem to be much more flexible than stated online, since they're just closed whenever it suits you. You have to give them credit, though, the iced chocolate is delicious, and the two minutes of interaction you get with the staff (if you even find one) was nice.

A very nice, cozy restaurant with a varied and delicious menu. We ate and drank there with eight people. We tried many dishes and drinks and were completely satisfied when we left. The service and staff were very friendly. We'd love to come back. 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Very friendly staff. We went there twice. Unfortunately, we didn't get exactly what we ordered either time. But what was missing was quickly brought :-). Maybe next time we'll get it straight away 😃. Otherwise, delicious, the best fries ever, and super friendly staff and a top-notch chef (owner??). 👍🏻😃

A great restaurant where you can feel at home. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We went there three times during our two-week vacation. No matter what you order, everything is delicious. We would definitely go back.

Absolutely fantastic location, but not only that: great service, friendly staff, fantastic food, and it's not a bad idea to reserve a table. It quickly became our regular spot. There's something for every hunger and drink preference.

We happened upon this place last year during a spa stay and, to cap off our wonderful time in Glowe, we enjoyed a delicious dinner here. The children were also taken into consideration. The food is super fresh and prepared with love. I'm happy to wait a few minutes longer for that, with a delicious drink. This year, during our family vacation in Glowe, we ate here two evenings. So, the value for money is just right ☺️

We were here for lunch. After ordering drinks, the waiter told us the chef wasn't there. He was still shopping. After 10 minutes, we placed our food order anyway. The food arrived at the next table after about 10-15 minutes. Ours took a while. The waiter still seemed to be alone. He said our food would be right there. After about 30 minutes, our food arrived. My husband had cheese fries with arugula, which had three old leaves on it. I had the schnitzel with fried potatoes and a fried egg. The schnitzel was okay, not a squeak, so it certainly wasn't pounded and breaded by hand as advertised, but it was OK. The delicate fried potatoes were practically inedible. They were dripping with grease. There wasn't even an apology for the long wait.

The food was super delicious, we'll definitely be back. Service was casual and friendly. The location was also top-notch, with a view of the sea... what more could you want?

We had dinner at Strandcafe Glowe today and were delighted. Because of the wind, we ate inside; the service was very friendly and attentive. My daughter had the vegetarian burger with salad and a mango dip; she loved the fruity flavor; she enjoyed it immensely. My wife had fish and chips; the potatoes were exceptionally tasty, as was the fish. I had the herring platter with fried potatoes; the herring was very good, mild and fresh, not as salty as some store-bought ones. The fried potatoes were excellent with onions and bacon, just as they should be. I particularly praised the chef for his homemade remoulade sauce; it was excellent with a light mustard flavor, unlike store-bought remoulade; it was truly delicious. The price/performance ratio was excellent; for three adults, we paid just over €60, including drinks. I highly recommend Strandcafe in Glowe, even if you want something hearty.

We ate there and it was a very nice experience. The food was good and the service very friendly. It's great that you can sit both inside and outside. The direct view of the beach is particularly pleasant in the evening.

Waiting time was impossible the waiter is only on his mobile phone and keeps the guests waiting the radio is set much too loud we have been sitting for an hour the carbonation in my drink is already gone the ice melted friendly is otherwise not recommended

Small, lovely restaurant on the water. Two terraces downstairs, sheltered from the wind, and a sun terrace upstairs. The food looked good; we only had coffee. Maybe more next time.

Beautiful beach bar... I can't say anything about the food, but the drinks were very good, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location was absolutely fantastic. We spent several lovely evenings here and enjoyed a fantastic view of the sea and the sunset. Thank you!

A lovely pub right on the dune (dike) in Glowe. The food has been excellent on both of our previous visits (2x). With lively remarks, good service, and prompt delivery of delicious food, we enjoyed a very pleasant evening. Photos attached: gravlax and fish & chips, as well as various versions of "matjes" (spiced herring) on our first visit. Everything was delicious. The drinks were too. We'll be back.

We ordered and waited an hour (!) for our food, all while entertaining our 5-year-old son. After an hour, they said they'd forgotten about us!!

The staff was completely overwhelmed. Long wait for the food and the bill. The Deichrind burger was a disaster. Zero flavor, no onions, and cold. Fries without mayo or ketchup. You have to order them separately. They also forgot cutlery. They had to ask again. Then there was a derogatory remark when my son ordered apple juice. We didn't understand what that was about. In short: bad food, bad service, we'll never be back.

This is our first time in Glowe. We discovered this lovely beach cafe and were thrilled. We went there twice. The food was great, and the burgers were especially delicious! The staff were super friendly and very helpful.

I definitely recommend this place. Even when it rains, you have a great view of the water. A place to feel good.

The seating is lovely on the upper terrace, right by the sea. If the place is full, it takes a while for the food to arrive—about 30 minutes. But that's OK, considering the kitchen isn't that big. Friendly service. Reasonable value for money.

Very friendly and prompt service, delicious food, homemade lemonade, and other treats invite you to linger. The prices are reasonable, too. The ambiance is cozy and fitting for the location. Keep it up!

The ribs were still ten and difficult to remove from the bone. They weren't glazed either. The BBQ sauce was simply not good at all. It was a ready-made product that simply had too much of a smoky flavor. You can buy BBQ sauce, but please make sure it's tasty or taste it again. The mayonnaise with the fries, which I had previously requested, was forgotten. The portion of coleslow was also very manageable and probably a convenience product. (Transgourmet certainly has better products here.) They said up front that everything is freshly prepared...the rib display promises more than you get. Very disappointing for the price!

The coffee and hot chocolate were okay. I ordered a hot waffle with ice cream, but unfortunately, it took a long time to arrive because the wait staff had to go out to buy ice cream. That shouldn't happen in a restaurant, though.

A small beach cafe that no one can pass by. Among other things, they serve delicious waffles of various kinds and a delicious cappuccino. Highly recommended.

We stumbled upon this place quite by chance on our way back from a bike ride and were very happy we did. The menu offers dishes for both small and large appetites, and the drinks selection is also excellent. We had the Hamburg schnitzel with fried potatoes, which was very tasty 😋 The homemade raspberry lemonade was also great. The owner was friendly and accommodating, the ambiance is very nice, and we had a seat "upstairs" with a view of the Baltic Sea.

Unfortunately, we can't comment on the food, as we were turned away as guests. The place wasn't full, nor was it close to closing time. But if you don't want to make money from a party of seven, that's just how it is. I won't try to eat there again anytime soon. I've lost my appetite.

There weren't many seats, and then half of them were closed due to rain, which was supposed to come three hours later. The iced coffee was already sold out, even though it was only lunchtime. And even though they call themselves a café, they don't serve cake or ice cream sundaes, just waffles. Four flavors.

The ambiance is very cozy, but the food resembles a chip shop, cold, overcooked pork, like it came out of a can, and the fries that were supposed to have cheese sauce were only topped with melted cheese slices. In my opinion, not recommended if you are hungry.

The view is quite nice, if you can get a seat on the upper terrace. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired, and the food wasn't that great either. The salads and schnitzel were unfortunately very lightly seasoned, and the vegetarian burger was also rather mediocre.

Hey, I went to the beach café De Düün with my best friend today. We had delicious sea buckthorn drinks, and the spare ribs were also very good. Unfortunately, there were no seats available outside at the beginning, and the terrace was still closed. However, we were informed in time that the terrace was now opening, so we were able to sit down and relax at our preferred spot. The server was very friendly, and the food didn't take long to arrive.

The Strandcafé de Düün is an absolute favorite spot on vacation. You feel right at home here, thanks to the super friendly chef who takes care of his guests. The food is simply fantastic, especially the goat cheese with salad and pear compote is an absolute favorite! The drinks are also perfect; the Aperol Spritz, the Andalö Hugo, and the homemade lemonade are ideal for a relaxing day at the beach. The beach chair offers the perfect view of the Baltic Sea and is the ideal place to relax and forget the stresses of everyday life. We're already looking forward to our next visit! 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We were always very satisfied, whether savory or sweet. The food was excellent and the service super attentive! The view of the sea and the harbor is a bonus!

We had two of the spare ribs and one of the Wild Vikings. The spare ribs were neither marinated nor seasoned in any way. They only came with a small cup of barbecue sauce, which didn't add to the desired flavor. The Vikings with fries were very good. The drinks were okay.

We had dinner at De Düün on Wednesday evening for two and were completely satisfied. We received a friendly welcome, the service was always on point, and both the drinks and food were reasonably priced and very tasty. Pleasant music accompanied our visit in the background. Another plus point was that they accepted card payments. Unfortunately, some restaurants in the area don't offer this. Highly recommended!

A very nice little beach café, located right on Glowe's beach promenade, with a great, cozy outdoor area. The food is delicious and freshly prepared. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, yet still conveys a very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. We had another wonderful time at "De Düün" and would love to come back.

Service was okay. The menu has changed for the worse over the last 1.5 years. The fries were disgusting, probably fried in old oil, the cocktails were low on alcohol, and there was a long wait before you could place an order, which wasn't a problem with the self-service concept of the past. Overall, there's a lot of potential for improvement. It used to be a recommendation, but not really! Too bad... We'll try again next year.

Great food, super fast service, very friendly, and the price is right too!

There were five of us eating at De Düün and unfortunately all the dishes were very poorly prepared and had a bit of a snack bar feel. I had the schnitzel with fried potatoes, which always sounds very simple but I think you still need a certain basic knowledge of cooking. The staff were nice but very overwhelmed even though there wasn't much going on.

Today we took a short break at the beach cafe De Düün. I highly recommend it. Very good and tasty food, fair prices, and good service. Thank you, we'll be happy to come back.

We went here for a café drink. Ate a waffle and drank ice cream chocolate. Everything was very tasty. And great quality and a lot for the price. The service was also great. We took a cocktail with us on the way. Highly recommended and you have a beautiful view of the Baltic Sea.

I had the pasta cheese dream. The taste was ok, the gorgonzola just didn't really come through. What particularly bothered me, however, was the small portion for the price. I really don't need much to fill me up, but that was far too little.
