Went there for dinner today with a group. Service was great and the food was very good. Very good bourgeois cuisine. Decent portions and we all enjoyed it very much. The Ratsmühle is a thoroughly Hanseatic restaurant with a correspondingly elderly guest structure and home-style cuisine that offers tasty food, but it also has its price. Given the high price level, almost everything should be right here, but unfortunately it isn't quite right. There's nothing wrong with the service, it's really very friendly and prompt. But the quality of the food has room for improvement. The fish of my favorite dish, Pannfisch, had been on the grill a little too long and was therefore a little too dry, and the overpriced Kaiserschmarrn dessert was definitely not fluffy enough. The ambience of the Ratsmühle is a matter of taste, but the chairs are objectively very expansive and too wide for me, so I found it difficult to move them back and forth and often collided with neighboring guests. That annoyed me a bit, but it's complaining on a high level, because all in all it was quite comfortable and I left the Ratsmühle full and satisfied - but also a few euros poorer.

I'm actually happy that there's finally a restaurant in Fuhlsbüttel again! However, the prices are quite high, especially compared to what you get. The pan fish with fried potatoes costs 21.90 euros and was an absolute disappointment. Almost cold fried potatoes drowned in fat; The two pieces of fish were fried in the deep fryer and the mustard sauce no longer had much to do with the term. Maybe there wasn't a chef there, but sorry guys, that's not possible! Furthermore, they didn't know how to handle my complaint. Helpless offers, such as choosing a coffee or perhaps another meal, still led to the full price of the panfish, even though I hadn't eaten any of it or chosen anything else. My 3 boys had burgers that were okay, but mayo or ketchup is charged extra... Well, it's a shame, but unfortunately not recommended for eating! The bill for us with 3 burgers, pan fish, ketchup, mayo, beer and 1 glass of wine was a mere 108.00 euros.

The restaurant is located on a beautiful stretch of the Alster. In the winter garden you have a great view of the canoeists passing by, even on cooler days (thanks to the heaters). The staff is super friendly, courteous and service-oriented. Now about the food. We were thrilled across the board. Only the noodles were missing some salt. But here you can simply ask for salt and the food was completely perfect. We'll definitely be back.

It was only served in half the area. The waitress said, rather gruffly, that she was completely alone. The awning was not extended on the outside area served. At over 30 degrees! Since we didn't want to sit in the sun, we left. It's a shame that the food was usually quite expensive, but good. I understand personnel shortages. But I also assume that the restaurant understands that I cannot make a recommendation and will eat somewhere else in the future.

Unfortunately I can't give more than 2 stars. The ambience is great, most of the food looks delicious, especially the burgers. I would like to see a little more vegetarian options. Otherwise everything is perfect. Maybe a bit expensive. Only my gorgonzola pasta was extremely bland and tasted like nothing at all. There was nothing to taste apart from the hint of Gorgonzola. I can't give it more than 2 stars. It's a shame, other guests' dishes looked so good.

Was there 2 days ago with my girlfriend 🦽. Drank very good coffee. Unfortunately the ramp that had recently broken wasn't there yet. We still had fun. The service seems stressed and overwhelmed and is therefore rather unfriendly. You get the impression that you are rather unwelcome if you need something or if something was served incorrectly. The location makes a good impression and the food tasted good. When I ordered (rump steak), I unfortunately overlooked the fact that the fries were charged extra at 4 euros. Ketchup and mayo also cost 1 euro each. We were there early on Saturday evening and not all the seats in the outdoor area were occupied. Delicious and friendly restaurant with a beautiful view of the canal. My family visited Hamburg from the USA and we loved this restaurant. We do not speak much German, but between the Owner's English and Google Translate we communicated just fine. The food was wonderful- especially the traditional schnitzel and Kaiserschuarm dessert and they didn't even laugh at me when I ordered a Radler. We will definitely stop here to eat again next time we are in the city, but I will be sure to book a reservation next time to sit by the canal. A few tips to USA visitors, which apply to most German restaurants: Expect to pay for water, even tap water- it's not a trick, and it's not crazy expensive. Don't expect a free bathroom, they frequently cost $$- though, thankfully, Zur Ratsmuhle had one for free, bonus!! Don't take pictures of other people to post online- they own the rights to their own image. Use the image option on Google Translate to translate whole pages of a menu at once and look up new food items to see what they are. Generally expect to take your time eating and enjoy your meal- tables are not turned over as quickly as in the USA.

Always worth a visit in and around Fuhlsbüttel. It's always nice to sit outside, especially thanks to the location right on the Alster and good weather protection, but it's also cozy inside. Service is fast, competent and friendly, very professional. Food tends to be more rustic, but of good quality, although perhaps a bit on the more expensive side. I like being there regularly!

So the service here is very, very nice even in hot temperatures! My favorite meal is roast beef with fried potatoes. The small salad that comes with it is always nice and fresh! The only downside to the temperatures is the western location, it's just hot, hot, hot. The interior works pretty well.

Unfortunately, on a hot summer day, even after making a reservation by phone and asking for a place in the shade outside, otherwise inside, we got the worst seat in the entire restaurant. Namely one at the window where the sun was shining. It was unbearable, especially for our toddler and the two elderly seniors. Unfortunately, the staff reacted rudely to the criticism. Too bad!

This great restaurant with a beautiful view of the Alster is somewhat hidden on the upper reaches of the Alster in the middle of the north of Hamburg. You can dine comfortably inside or outside on the large terrace. The outdoor terrace is equipped with retractable and retractable awnings and radiant heaters so that, depending on the weather, you can eat/drink outside or stay protected and warm outside. Although this restaurant is surrounded by main streets, you don't notice it at all. A large jetty and canoe rental complete the offer. The food is very, very tasty, there is a large selection, the portions are very large and all at definitely fair prices. Unfortunately there are no parking spaces directly at the restaurant, but you can park quite easily in the side street (residents' area). It's even better by bike, as there's a bike and hiking trail that runs past the restaurant. A quiet, idyllic atmosphere with a fantastic view is included free of charge. A real insider tip that I, as a native of Hamburg, only discovered recently and will definitely go back more often!

It was really great and very tasty but unfortunately there was no high chair for our little daughter (1.5 years old) and we had to put her on a chair on a pile of blankets. The asparagus was absolutely delicious!

The service was very friendly and warm. All dishes were lovingly prepared and very tasty. We had the currywurst with fries, the veggie burger and the schnitzel with fried potatoes and can recommend all of the dishes. Even though it was very busy, we didn't have to wait long for our food and were able to sit nicely in the sun.

Back in 2016, my brother and I were taking a train tour across England, Germany and Belgium, and we stayed in Hamburg near the Ohlsdorf trainshop. We wanted someplace local, and we wanted actual german food (not pizza/etc). So, we came to Zur RatsMuhle. I had a schnitzel and my brother had a Jager-something (pork chop with onions mushrooms etc). Both came with French Fries. Both were quite good. And we had a couple of biers, of course. It was late evening, on like a wednesday, and it wasnt very busy. So the owner or manager came by to chat with us. (Or maybe it was just because her English was way better than our Deutsch). Frau ??, she was friendly and after asking about the food, she asked about our trip to Hamburg. When we said we were tourists here to see the city, at first she suggested that Berlin or Munchen (Munich) are more popular with tourists. With our limited German skills, we finally managed to convey that while Berlin and Munich were both fine, we came to Hamburg to see "real" germany. This made Frau ?? smile proudly and she was happy to chat more with us about the city. But then she looked at our meals, the "pom frites" / french fries that came with our meals, was not "proper german" food. She chatted briefly with our waitress, and then insisted that if we wanted to try real Germany we should have real german potatoes. And they brought out the side dish for us to try, free of charge. The German potatoes, was a diced or scolloped and fried potatoes, with sauted onions, and bacon. Along with some seasonings, maybe parsley or scallions. (it has been a while). The potatoes were excellent. To this day, my brother and I tell this story about our experience. I hope that everyone will have just as wonderful a time here! -CFT2

We celebrated our wedding in the Ratsmühle on March 15, 2024 and had an unforgettable day. The food was very tasty and everyone was very enthusiastic. We were well looked after by the service staff the whole time, so we didn't have to worry about anything and we didn't miss anything. Thank you for this great day, we will definitely be back.

For me, the restaurant is somehow an insider tip if you want good German cuisine. Slightly hidden and still well attended, right on the water. The waitresses are very attentive and friendly. The food is tasty and there is a good selection of dishes. You can sit outside as well as inside. After eating, we recommend taking a short walk by the water if you have the opportunity. Clear recommendation for the restaurant!

Kale, veal schnitzel and herring with fried potatoes were to die for! ! Also ice cream and cappuccino for dessert… very tasty! We'd love to come back! Maybe you'd better go by bike, because parking spaces are a matter of luck!
